The Consortium was launched in 2007 and admitted 25 institutions that year. Over the following years, it developed working principles for the EdD, defined design concepts, was awarded several grants to support data collection and analysis, and continued expanding its membership while strengthening collaborations with Critical Friends and the Carnegie Foundation.
