The children did an experiment to observe the process of evaporation. They marked a water level in a plastic cup and filled it with water. After leaving the cup on a windowsill for 5 days, they observed the water disappearing until the cup was empty. Evaporation occurs as water particles warm up and turn into vapor, escaping into the air. In a follow up experiment, wet paper napkins dried when hung in open air, but remained wet when sealed in a plastic bag where the vapor could not escape.

- 2. "Where does the water go?" The children do an experiment with water to try to figure out what happens to water when it is exposed to the air. Where does the water go? Have they ever wondered what happens to the water in puddles after it stops raining?
