The document discusses the various digital technologies and online resources used by the student at different stages of their media production project. For research and planning, they used YouTube to research film trailers and music, as well as Google Images. They created mind maps using Exam Time. Facebook, texting, and group chats helped organize actors. iMovie and Logic Pro X were used for editing, and a Canon 700D camera and tripod were also utilized. SoundCloud provided music. Photoshop assisted with ancillary tasks. Presentation software like Prezi and Slideshare, along with blogger, supported the evaluation.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

2. RESEARCH AND PLANNING
YouTube
For my research and planning I
mainly used YouTube to research film
trailers from a similar genre to mine.
This was very helpful as I could easily
look at an array of film trailers and
look at codes and conventions of the
trailers and then apply it to my own
trailer. Due to web 2.0 people can
post film trailers for the world to see,
it made the whole process so much
easier as I could do it literally at a
click of a button! I also used YouTube
to research music to try and find the
perfect soundtrack for my trailer, I
even played songs over my trailer to
see if any fit.
The Internet
Although this sounds fairly obvious
but it did a great deal of help when
researching and planning my media
products, mostly the ancillary tasks.
It obviously helped me with my
trailer as I could access YouTube
through it. But for my ancillary tasks
I could use google images to
research magazine covers and film
posters to again look for codes and
conventions of the tasks and apply it
to my own tasks to make them as
realistic as possible.
3. RESEARCH AND PLANNING
Exam Time
Exam time was the best
programme I came across that
creates mind maps. It was very
easy to use and I could make the
mind maps as big or small as I
wanted. I used this in my planning
as I could write down my initial
ideas for themes and basic
storylines for my film trailer based
on what I had already researched.
I then referred to this when
making a final storyline so I kept
to conventions of my genre.
Facebook, Texting etc.
These were the best tools to use when trying
to organise my actors and see if they are free.
I could always access them on the go so it
was relatively easy to work out a date when
everyone was free. I could also run by what
shots I wanted by my actors so we can go the
ideal predetermined place to be as time
effective as possible. The best way was to
make a group chat so I could let everyone
know at the same time what the original plan
was and also what I wanted them to do, they
could then talk to each other and let all of us
know when we were free. This was the best
way to plan in respect of the actors
themselves!
4. MAKING THE TRAILER
iMovie
I used iMovie when editing my film
trailer once I had finished filming
it. This was fairly new to me this
year as I was on my own so I had
to edit it mostly by myself. This
media technology took a while to
get used to but with some help
from teachers and YouTube I
managed to use it independently
towards the end and managed to
use it quite effectively by
successfully adding in sound
effects and soundtracks (which we
didn’t do last year)
Logic Pro X (and equipment)
To try and give myself a bit of and edge I decided to
try and create my own soundtrack for part of my film
trailer. I did this at the beginning of the trailer where
there is a voiceover. This was the time where it
almost had a horror feel to it and suspense needs to
be built so I tried to reflect that. I was quite new to
this programme before so it took some time to learn
how to use oscillators etc. But once I knew how to
effectively use the programme it gave me complete
freedom to create the sound that I wanted to make
which could make the music for the trailer fit as well,
or even better than a song off of sound cloud.
5. MAKING THE TRAILER
Equipment
In my A2 coursework I used much more hardware
equipment than I did in AS. Firstly the quality of the
camera that I used was increased to create a crisper
shot and also change the focusing to make it look more
professional. The camera I used was a Canon 700D,
compared to the standard school cameras it was better
tenfold. This time I used a tripod whereas in AS I didn’t,
this enabled me to create still establishing shots to set
the scene better. It also meant that I could move more
smoothly in some shots (For example the movement in
the church scene). Again I used the x grip but as I had
used it before I could create freehand shots with a lot
less camera shake so I could record moving action
shots which would appear better on screen.
Sound Cloud
For my trailer I had to add in
music for the last part of the
trailer so I turned to sound
cloud as it provides a lot of
copyright free music made by
amateur musicians. After a lot
of searching I finally found
what I was looking for and
made it fit my trailer well to
create a more upbeat, action-
y feel to it.
6. ANCILLARY TASKS
Photoshop
Photoshop is the main software that I used
when editing my ancillary tasks, I had
never used this software before A2 so it
took quite a while to get used to it and I
needed help from classmates and teachers
but once I understood how to use it and
used it pretty much independently. This
gave me much more freedom to create the
ideal film poster and magazine cover, I
could tailor it to look how I wanted it to
look and also similar to some real life
posters and magazine covers. Overall once
I kind of understood how to use the
programme it was great when making the
ancillary tasks, and I will definitely use this
programme again if I need to do
something similar in the future!
Equpment
Again for my ancillary tasks I
used the canon 700D as this
could both record and take
stills really well with the
picture being really clear. I
actually had to take a picture
for my magazine cover but for
my film poster I used a
screenshot from my trailer as
it would make it link together
quite well. Especially as the
shot was used in the
beginning and the end of the
trailer so it would make the
whole package stick out even
more.
7. EVALUATION
Presentation software (Prezi, Slideshare and blogger)
Prezi is a good way to present my evaluations, I had previously used this in my
AS coursework but I was a little rushed so I didn’t get to use it to its full
potential. Now I have had a bit more time I could play about with it a little bit
and get a nicer looking presentation which can be easily followed. It also
allowed me to create sub topics within areas relatively easily.
Slideshare was also good to use as both PowerPoint and Prezi spiced up my
blog a little bit as it would get really boring just seeing loads of text, and I
used both these programmes throughout my A2 coursework in all stages. The
slides are separated so you can go through topics with clear division so you
know what I am talking about.
Blogger is where I put all of my progress, it makes it so it is all in one place so
I can look through my past work and it makes it easy to reference. It is pretty
useful to make the blog posts in various different ways but the programme
itself can be a pain quite a lot of the time, especially when adding pictures to
my posts as I can only do it at home!
But overall these software programmes are very good in varying the
