This is part three of Evaluation task 1, where I analyse the conventions of CD DigiPaks. Closely looking at which conventions I adhered to or which I challenged within the product.
The document discusses the design choices made for the digipak, website, and biography of an artist named Nand.C. For the digipak cover, a mid-shot was used to present the artist as confident while still connecting with audiences. On the website, a simple and comfortable design was used matching other R&B artists. Images and videos were overlaid on the biography page to make it more fun and give insights into the artist's life. The biography was also written in first person to personally connect with fans in an intimate way.
Evaluation Task One - Digipak and Websiteella lewis
The document provides an analysis of the design choices made for the digipak and website of the artist Nand.C's album "Hallucinations".
For the digipak cover, a mid-shot was used to convey the artist's power and confidence while still connecting with audiences on a personal level. A golden glow and removal of blemishes enhanced the artist's star image and perfection. On the back, the artist is shown mysteriously from behind to spark curiosity.
The website design matches those of R&B artists Kelly Rowland and Mary J. Blige for simplicity. A slideshow promotes the artist's star image and collaborations. Central placement of the new album draws attention to generate
The digipack features Beyoncé standing on a rooftop overlooking a dull cityscape, making her seem powerful. Her purple coat contrasts with the surroundings and signifies wealth. She stands in the center of the cover iconic of the genre, portraying herself as a powerful female figure looking down on the city as if to conquer the world with her music.
This document summarizes and analyzes the design elements of several album Digipaks:
1) The Bastille "Bad Blood" Digipak features an unusual image of the lead singer running from a car, signifying he does not want fame but is iconic to the band. The cover allows the audience to see the car from two perspectives.
2) The 1975 Digipak has a simple yet eye-catching white illuminated design that makes the band name stand out against the black background.
3) The Lana Del Rey "Born to Die" Digipak uses a medium close-up of the artist's vintage style and symmetrical photo, reflecting her younger target audience and personal style.
The document analyzes a magazine advertisement for an artist's new album. It takes up two thirds of the page with a close-up shot of the artist making direct eye contact to draw attention. Her defiant expression and rebellious style with black and gold lipstick and accessories suggests the album will focus more on her personal attitudes. While black often has depressing connotations, the bright gold writing and accessories make the ad more appealing and catch the eye.
The digipak uses dark earth tones and red colors to convey discomfort and a sense of darkness or hell. There are no images of the band, instead using random smudges and images of holes and scratches in a wall that symbolize insanity. This is meant to make the audience feel negative emotions. The two CDs add value for fans and the fossil-like CD design hints that the album should be treasured, while also conveying a sense of aging in a natural way.
The front cover of the digipak features the band The Script with lead singer Danny most visible to identify the album. Their logo is in the top corner for recognition. The inside cover has a full-bleed image of clasped hands in skin tones, representing trying to get a message across rather than glorify themselves. The album title "Science and Faith" may relate to the hands in prayer. Song titles are small to de-emphasize them.
The front cover of Lana Del Rey's album displays a medium close-up of her face, framing her beauty and style which is common in the indie genre. Her vintage look of wavy hair, nude lipstick, and pout allow her to create a recognizable image for her target audience. She is pictured outside, typical for indie, to show her exploring the world for experiences to write songs. The back cover lists the track titles in a simple font, keeping with the album's simplicity. The red and white color scheme may represent the powerful emotions in the lyrics. Overall, the simple yet eye-catching design focuses the audience on the music.

The document analyzes the album packaging and design of albums by Rihanna and Beyoncé. For Rihanna's album "Loud", the front cover uses contrasting colors like red lips and hair to catch attention, while the CD cover has a floral theme showing a softer side. Beyoncé's album "I Am Sasha Fierce" uses a black and white contrast on the front cover to show two sides of herself, and promotional posters with close-ups to create connections with audiences. Overall, the document examines how the album packaging presents different images of the artists and draws in audiences visually.
This magazine advertisement promotes a new album by a band. It uses the album cover artwork as the main visual and adheres to the color scheme. The band's name, album title, and release date are prominently displayed in clear, recognizable fonts. Additional details like the record label and song list are also included to provide more information to potential customers.
The document discusses existing digipacks and album covers from various artists such as Coldplay, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce, Linkin Park, Lily Allen, and Kings of Leon. It analyzes how consistent elements like fonts, colors, images, and logos are used across different album covers and marketing materials to create recognizable styles and represent the artists' brands. Abstract and unconventional designs from artists like Coldplay and Kings of Leon that do not clearly convey meaning are also said to intrigue audiences and represent their less conventional music styles.
This document discusses potential album cover inspirations for an artist's new album. It analyzes two existing album covers, praising Lana Del Rey's cover for portraying her as creative through a rose in her mouth. The other cover features an unusual image of a woman with a globe for hair that depicts her as strong and independent rather than sexualized. The document concludes by outlining features of covers by Cassie, Rihanna, and Christina Aguilera that could be adapted for the new cover, including mysterious half-shots of the face and a half-human, half-robot design representing the album's theme of dual sides.
The document discusses the design elements of several album digipacks. It describes how the Lana Del Rey digipack uses a close-up portrait on the front to highlight her features and portray her image. It also discusses how the simplicity of the design allows the audience to focus on elements like her outfit, hair and makeup. The document then analyzes how the Rihanna "Loud" digipack uses bright, vibrant colors that correlate to the album name and portray her personality through a cohesive color scheme across pages. Finally, it summarizes how the Kooks "Shine On" digipack stands out through a unique front cover design that forms an image out of many smaller pictures.
The document analyzes and summarizes the key visual elements and intended messages of three album covers:
1) Jess Glynne's album cover uses a close-up shot and natural appearance to portray emotions and connect with audiences without sexualization.
2) Lana Del Rey's "Born to Die" cover shows her as powerful yet innocent through her stern expression and sophisticated white outfit against a blue sky, portraying her as unique from other pop artists.
3) The 1975's first album cover has a minimal black, white, and gray design with their neon name, intended to portray them as authentic and different from other bands through a lack of graphics and focus on the music over the band's image.
This document discusses indie rock concert posters and album packaging. It notes that indie rock posters often feature dark colors like black, red, and blue and use fonts that are bold or in an italic style. The artist is sometimes pictured but their logo is often used instead for more well-known bands. It then analyzes the packaging for the 1975 album, pointing out the simple black and white design with their iconic white rectangle logo. Elements like the logo, track listing, and crediting are included in a minimalist way. The document concludes that the simple but consistent style and use of a recognizable symbol helps audiences connect with the artist.
The Digipak design for Rihanna's album "Loud" aims to attract audiences through Rihanna's sexualized image. Across the front and back covers, Rihanna is depicted laying in romantic settings wearing dramatic makeup and clothing that enhances her sexual features. While the imagery suggests a love narrative, it also portrays Rihanna as overly sexualized and dependent on men. The simple album and song titles, along with featuring other artists, aim to draw audiences' focus to Rihanna's image rather than her music. Her tattoo symbolizing "rebel flower" hints that beneath her seemingly innocent appearance lies a more diverse and rebellious musical style.
The promotion poster advertises Jay Sean's new single "Do You Remember" through simple but effective design. In large red text and a nostalgic photo, it highlights the song title, artist, and release date. Additional details like formatting consistent with his brand and mention of his previous hit draw audience attention and interest. The clear presentation of purchasing options makes the new music easily accessible to fans.
The digipak for Kasabian's album "Empire" features a hand-drawn image of a king from a playing card with the band's initial "K", suggesting their name and the album's theme of an empire. In contrast to more commercial bands, Kasabian is not featured, focusing on their music over their image.
Kanye West's digipak is detailed, with his name spelled using objects reflecting his interests. It includes changeable album covers relating to different music videos. The strange images may reflect lyrics or Kanye's beliefs.
Rihanna's digipak prominently features close-up images of her made-up face, emphasizing her beauty, innocence, and sexuality to
Rihanna's album "Loud" features images that tell a narrative of love and sexuality. The front cover shows Rihanna with red lips implying lust, as if thinking of a lover, while clues on the back cover and inside imagery portray a more provocative and raunchy side. Symbols like roses and wedding dress imagery further the love story narrative while technical aspects like lighting, tattoos, and gold curtains provide clues about her character and background.
The document analyzes the websites, posters, and videos of several artists including The Chainsmokers, Zedd, Nelly, and Jon Bellion. Some key points made in the analysis include:
1) Websites and posters prominently feature the artist's name in bold, large font to promote brand recognition. Visual elements like fonts and color schemes are consistent across materials.

3) Links to latest songs, tours, and social media promote new work and foster fan connections.
4) Posters keep language simple with clear event details while focusing on the artist's name and image
Our inspiration for the album cover came from Katy Perry's album Prism. We used images and templates similar to hers to appeal to our target audience of similar ages and genders. Our cover features the artist in the center using rule of thirds, with a colorful background and bold typography like Perry's cover. We diverged by using a white background instead of green screen to keep it simpler. The inside uses a long shot of the artist like Rihanna's Loud to draw viewers in and represent the artist for fans to enjoy.
The front cover of Miley Cyrus's CD features a serif font and white text against a black background to represent purity. A purple gemstone on her ring symbolizes royalty and power. Her partially covered face suggests there is more to her public image. The CD label matches the color scheme and includes the record label logo to identify the producer. Positioning the barcode in the top corner represents Miley's uniqueness as an artist blending genres.

Some key themes and techniques identified across the materials include a connection to nature, consistent fonts and imagery to build recognition of the artist and album, close-up shots of the faces to highlight them as the selling point, strategic use of colors, and themes or imagery that relate to the music or artist's public persona.
Rihanna's album "Loud" uses provocative imagery and symbolism to portray a narrative of love and desire. The close-up shot of Rihanna's face on the cover suggests sexual tension, while red roses inside represent romance. These conventions apply character, narrative, iconography, setting and technical codes. The bedroom setting among red rose petals also alludes intertextually to the film "American Beauty". Enhanced lighting and colors create a provocative atmosphere that draws attention and encourages sales.
The document discusses several conventions used in music videos and related media:
1) Most music videos analyzed showed signs of lip syncing, with the protagonist singing every 5 shots or so, unless during instrumental parts.
2) Storylines in music videos often link lyrics to relevant imagery, like linking the lyrics "I can see you girl can you see me?" to the character and plot.
3) Websites, videos, and overall branding aim for continuity of image and messaging. Catchphrases may be used across formats.
Costumes, locations, and designs aim to be relatable while conveying themes of appearances being deceiving and portraying fun and love. Dark color schemes, images, and
The document analyzes and summarizes the themes and design elements of three different album digital packs (digi packs).

Font, colors, and effects like a glass effect were chosen to represent the post-hardcore genre and attract fans. Inside, a graffiti background photo ties the theme together and credits are listed as is standard. Overall, conventions were challenged by focusing on building the band's image while representing their genre through visual elements.
This document discusses the design choices for a digipak album cover for a post-hardcore band called The Perfect Fall. The front cover features individual images of each band member lined up to make them recognizable. Red font is used to match conventions of the genre and attract attention. Inside, a photo of the band in front of graffiti maintains the theme. While most post-hardcore covers use artwork, the author challenged conventions by including the band's photo to help identify them as a new act. The design aims to appeal to alienated youth through its dark colors, graffiti background, and rebellious imagery of the band.
The document discusses the development and evaluation of cover designs, magazine advertisements, and inner panels for a music album. Key points:
- The initial cover draft featured illustrations from the music video against a dark background to portray reality vs. fiction. Feedback led to adding glow and color adjustments.
- A second cover draft added a "ripped paper" effect to feature the illustration and connote hidden stories behind outward appearances. Black and white was chosen over color to reference the video.
- Magazine advertisements were designed to incorporate the cover design. Reviews and social media logos were later added to provide context and expand the audience.
- Inner panel drafts featured close-up shots from the video to generate intimacy

1) The document discusses the promotion of a debut album and artist through various ancillary texts including a music video, magazine poster, and album digipak.
2) The poster and digipak utilize different imagery including Greek mythology and Renaissance art to portray a mystical theme and give clues to the artist's music.
3) Elements like repeated images, fonts, and symbols like the Greek statue create consistency that helps audiences recognize the artist across materials.
The document discusses conventions for magazine advertisements and CD digipaks for indie music. It examines how the author's created products conform to and challenge conventions in terms of layout, imagery, colors, and positioning of text and images. While largely conforming to conventions like prominent artist/album text and necessary information, the author takes some risks by using atypical images and positioning that don't strictly feature the artist but are intended to intrigue audiences and tie into the narrative.
The document discusses three media products created for a music artist: a digipack, music advert, and music video.
For the digipack, conventions like centering the artist image and including contact information were followed, while the font and colors were made unique. Inspiration was drawn from Drake, J. Cole, and Paigey Cakey. The music advert centered the artist and included reviews, pre-order options, and social media links. Rihanna's ads provided inspiration. The music video incorporated performance and narrative elements like Rihanna and Drake's videos using available props and costumes. Shots and editing styles from other artists were adapted to keep engagement.
The document discusses how a music artist's digipak, magazine ad, and music video can work together to promote the artist and their album. It summarizes the steps taken to ensure consistency across the three media texts for an A2 media coursework project. Key elements like location, outfit, color palette, font, and imagery were maintained across the digipak, ad, and music video to create synergy and allow easy identification of the artist. Close-up shots of the artist from the music video also appeared in the digipak and ad to clearly link the products and tell the artist's story.
The document discusses conventions in magazine design within different genres of rock music. It begins by analyzing conventions seen in the Pretty Reckless magazine within the alternative rock genre, and comparing them to conventions found in indie magazines. It then discusses how analyzing these magazines helped develop an understanding of how to analyze still images and what makes them effective. The document goes on to discuss the design process for creating fake album artwork, advertisements, and other materials for an imaginary alternative rock artist named Daisy Jessop. It references researching real examples from bands like Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys, and The Pretty Reckless to incorporate genre conventions into the designs.
The document discusses conventions for CD covers, including that digipaks usually portray the artist and include an insert booklet. It notes that covers represent the artist's brand and genre through imagery and fonts. Cover design aims to attract the target audience and help them connect with the artist. Elements like the artist's image size and gaze can suggest their dominance. Backgrounds are often blurred to focus on the artist. Covers for folk and rock artists commonly use natural settings and casual clothing.
The document provides details about the student's analysis of magazines and advertisements within the alternative rock genre to develop their understanding of conventions used. They analyzed images from magazines like The Pretty Reckless and NME to identify common conventions around color palettes, fonts, and layouts. They also researched band advertisements to inspire their own fake advertisement for an album, applying conventions they identified like bold colors and fonts while also experimenting with some non-traditional elements.
The document describes the design choices for a digipak for an indie pop artist named Poppy. It discusses how the digipak conforms to conventions of the genre by having a simple, colorful retro design focused on the artist. The front cover features a large central image of Poppy filling the cover to emphasize that the music comes from her. Consistent fonts are used to create a recognizable brand. Bright, girly colors represent Poppy's image and appeal to her young female fans. The document discusses the creation of a digital package (video, website, digipak) for a solo artist to promote their image and brand. Key points:
- The products were designed to create a recognizable, minimalist image focused on the artist. A black, white, and red color scheme and stripped back aesthetic were used consistently.
- Research on album artwork in the artist's genre informed the design choices. References to other artists like Justin Timberlake were also incorporated.
- Maintaining consistency across the video, website, digipak and other materials helped establish the artist's image and build their fan base. Social media integration on the website further expanded their audience.

The document discusses the branding and promotion of an indie pop band called "Peace of Lions".
The author created a music video, magazine advertisement, and CD digipak to promote the band's new album. Consistency was important to create a cohesive marketing campaign. Similar fonts, colors, and urban imagery were used across products.
The products are intended to appeal to the target audience of 16-24 year olds by portraying the band members as normal and relatable rather than constructed images. Locations and aesthetic choices also follow conventions of the indie pop genre.
This document discusses the conventions used in pop music albums and how the author's media products both follow and challenge some of those conventions. Specifically:
- The author used close-up shots of the artist on the album cover and poster, as is typical, but left more space around the image on the poster, challenging conventions slightly.
- Color schemes, fonts, and layouts were kept consistent between the album, digipak, and poster to represent continuity, following conventions.
- Inside the digipak, the author challenged conventions by including a song lyric instead of an artist message, but felt it set the right tone.
- Feedback indicated the audiences found the author's products familiar yet appealing due
Beyoncé started her career in the girl group Destiny's Child, known for their sexy image and strong vocals. As a solo artist, Beyoncé has established herself through her voice, values, and unique performances. When designing marketing materials for a new indie rock band, the document discusses taking into account conventions for both "synthetic" artists focused on fame, and "organic" artists focused on music. Elements like album art, website design, and photography were crafted to develop the band's image while appealing to their target audience.

The document analyzes conventions of album artwork by examining covers from artists Paloma Faith, Florence + the Machine, and Katy Perry. Some conventions discussed include: the artist's name being larger than the album title for branding purposes; continuity of imagery, fonts, and themes across the album packaging; inclusion of production details on the back cover; and connecting the visuals to the music's themes/genres. The analysis will inform the design of the student's own album packaging to follow conventions and effectively target their audience.
The band Picasso's Enemies was signed by independent record label XL Recordings. Their music video portrays them as fun-loving and unique to appeal to their target 16-24 year old audience. Elements like painted band members and an attractive female artist are used to engage the audience. The band presents as ordinary but also extraordinary to form an emotional connection with viewers and encourage them to consume the band's products.
This document discusses the design choices for a band's album cover and promotional poster. The poster features a skull graphic paired with the band and album title in a matching font. This relates to the album's theme and title track "Where is my mind?". The simple graphic and color scheme is meant to clearly convey information about the album release while reflecting the band's musical style. The design takes inspiration from the Arctic Monkeys' minimalist poster approach to communicate specific details simply and effectively.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

2. Front Cover
Having the artist’s image on
the front cover creates a
recognition factor.
As well as presenting
Sasha is a red light which
further builds her star
image of a sexy temptress.
It is a convention to have
the album title on the front
cover, to clearly label the
product and create a
clear communication,
through media language
with the audience.
The dotted font I used, is subtle making Sasha’s name the main point of focus. It also creates an intertextual
ink to the 1920s and burlesque shows, as I find that the dot remind of the iconic light bulb letters. This benefits
Sasha’s image as burlesque shows were about the tempting element and talent, it makes Sasha a classy,
skilled, temptress/star.
I adhered to the
conventions through
displaying Sasha’s
name/ logo on the
front cover. As it is
presented in the
biggest font I also
adhered to the
conventions of a solo
artist to market the
artist as a brand,
having all attention on
her.
Incorporating the cyrillic
letter, draws a link to
her Russian heritage. It
is conventional to draw
attention to the artist’s
USP on the front cover,
in this case Sasha’s
seductive look (image&
red) and her
Russian/exotic roots
(logo)
3. Conventional use of Red
Artists such as Christina Aguilera, Madonna
and Rhianna who all have similar USP of sex
appeal and an empowered image, have
frequently used red in their campaign to
promote their desirable image.
Therefor the use red to promote Sasha’s star
image is conventional, as it is a socially
accepted fact that red is a colour of passion.
And scientifically proven that red increases one’s
blood pressure, tricking the viewer into
excitement about the content they are viewing.
4. Back cover A CD connection is to
have the track list on
the back cover of the
CD.
As it clearly tells the
audience what value
they buy with the
product, through listing
the content.
It is conventional for the
CD format to have a
barcode on the back
cover, often in the bottom
right corner.
I decided to adhere to the
convention to simulate a
professional look.
I also applied the
conventional use of
the production
information; as it is
vital for the copyright
and star image
presenting Sasha as
an industry
professional.
To reinforce Sasha’s
idolised but classy
Star image. However I
increased the image’s
trjsnperancy to
prevent it from
distracting from the
track list. As the track
list is the most
important information
on the back cover,
promising the
audience value for
their purchase.
5. Research into CD conventions
Looking at existing content, I realised that
the back cover’s of CD DigiPak’s are often
are more abstracted, as the track list is the
central point of focus, to clearly
communicate the value of the product to
the audience.
6. Close Look at Track
Lists
The two Christina Aguilera CD back covers , influenced my design. As the track list is used to emphasise
the shape of her body reinforcing her sex appeal star image and on he other back cover a close up of only
half of the artist’S fare suggests an element of mystery.
decided to utilise the unconventional presentation of the track list, to compliment the negative space of
Sasha’s image and emphasise the sense of mystery.
7. Water image
I created an intertextual link to
Kylie Minogue’s album cover
‘Kiss me Once.’ The water
droplets create a seductive
image as water is a sensual
element.
I used the water image to tie
Sasha’s DigiPak together,
through having the theme run
through the inlay, disc and back
cover of the DigiPak.
8. Inlay Image
For the inlay image I decided to create a
mirror effect, appealing to the
intertextual link to mirrors in art,
suggesting both Vanity and self-
knowledge, supporting Sasha’s
powerful, independent but beautiful/
sexy image.
I used the image transformation tool, to
inverse the image and increase it’s
transparency.
9. Disc
I added a microphone
to clearly labels that
Sasha is a singe, and
appeal to her talent.
The conventions of a
microphone,
immediately connote
performance and vocal
skills.
