3. Narrative
• The video is an amplification and is a combination
narrative. This means it features both a performance and
a background story that has links to the song.
4. Representation
• When ‘Kathy’ has had her make over and is revealed to
the party close us of her legs are shown when she is
walking down the stairs this then lead to her being seen
by everyone. These close up only happen after her
transformation giving the viewer ideals on what is
attractive.
• Competition between males and desire for the ‘bad
boy’ however this is challenged later in the video with
a ‘battle’ between the two where unexpectedly the less
desired boy wins.
• There is a reaction shot of the popular boy upon
‘Kathy's’ appearance when she initially walks into the
party. This disgusted look shows the audience that he
dose not like her appearance.
• There is another reaction shot of the ‘Popular boy’
after ‘Kathy's’ transformation, this shows he is shocked
at her new appearance. Then inferring to the audience
that the ‘popular boy’ only seeks looks in a girl, it also
send out a message you have to look a certain way to
be found attractive by desired males.
