2. USE – Front Cover

3. DEVELOP & CHALLENGE – Front Cover
The fluorescent colour of pink is unusual for an
Indie music magazine, as they consist of darker
colours. However this makes my magazine
unique.
There is only one tagline on the
page (the main feature in the
magazine) where as the rest are in
banners or stickers. There is none
just sitting on the page like NME.
The title font and the
coloured A is a completely
unique element of my
magazine.
Indie models convey the idea of
being moody and serious through
their position and facial
expression, however mine is
pulling a silly reflecting the tag
line and interview.

4. USE – Contents Page
Header of “THIS WEEK”.
Box type layout across
the whole page.
A Band Index,
including the
page numbers
down the
side.
Three colour rule (White, black
and pink) is continued.
The date and Issue number.
Tag lines naming what the
photo is about and what page
to find that topic/story.
Boarders around each photo.
Headlines named “FEATURES”
and “REGULARS” which are both
presented in boxes, helping the
box type layout as well as
separating them into columns.

what is in the magazine.

5. DEVELOP & CHALLENGE – Contents
Page
Medium shots instead of long
shots.
The photographs in my magazine
are much less active than those
you would normally find in indie
magazines. For example in NME
they are in the middle of
performing, where as in mine
they are talking/posing with an
instrument.
The title CLASH is in a lighter
opacity, so I could easily place
it over the photographs (so it’s
still visible but not taking
attention away from other
aspects of the page.)
There is no advertisement on
the page unlike NME.
The colour scheme is white
pink black and grey, where as
NME has red.

6. USE – Double Page Spread
The magazine name
Is mentioned.
The name of the artists is clear,
easy to see.
There is a beginning paragraph,
separate to the rest of the
interview.
A clear photo of
the model/artist.
Three colour rule; white
pink and black.
The interview is a small size and
the font is times roman.
Page number and the
website in a small font.
There are a series of quotes
both in the interview and next
to the photograph, informing
the reader what to expect
when they read the interview.
The outfit is simple,
just as any would be in
a indie music
magazine.
Some text on the page is
highlighted in a different colour.

The colour scheme is completely
different, (black, brown and blue
to white, pink and black), matching
The rest of my magazine.
The model/artist is
female.
I used a long shot
Instead of a medium
close up. Also I don’t
use any props such
as instruments
(guitars).
Piece of text
saying “Exclusive
Interview”
Name of the magazine
underneath the title of
the interview.
The opening paragraph is on the same page
as my photograph. Coming of the bottom of
her foot In a unique style.
The photograph
only takes up one page,
where as the NME
Interview photo
crosses over to the
other page also.

letters.
