1912. They are famous for distributing a wide array of films, but primarily family films.
This distributor is owned by Comcast. They have distributed films such as Jurassic World,
Mamma Mia and Minions. Its corporate offices are based in New York City. In 2019,
Universal will become the home video distributor for DreamWorks Animation releases.
Their top grossing action films are the series of films called the Fast and Furious films,
with their latest one grossing over $1,516,045,911 worldwide.

A lot of the films released by Universal Pictures are mainly family films from ‘Sing’ to
‘Jurassic Park.’ They have released action comedy films such as ‘Central Intelligence’ which
was a large success with the star profiles of Kevin Hart and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson
grossing over $217 million. However they do not produce many of this genre so this is
where I feel Universal Pictures would benefit from distributing my film as there is a gap in
the market which I believe my film could benefit the distribution company and become a
huge success.

Public Enemies was produced by Relativity Media and distributed by Universal
Pictures. It was released in 2009 starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. It is
an American biographical mob drama film directed by Michael Mann.
I can compare my film to Public Enemies as an armed robbery is performed
with weaponry and the escape is shown. I can relate to this as in my film when
the armed robbery is performed on the reception, they are carrying weapons
and escape in a vehicle, therefore this shows that Universal Pictures are
experienced with scenes of this violent nature and would be able to handle
the distribution of my film.

5. CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE
Central Intelligence is an action comedy produced by New Line
Cinema and distributed by Universal Pictures in 2016. It is starring
actor and wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and actor and
comedian Kevin Hart.
I can compare Heist Girls to Central Intelligence as it shows the fast
paced action packed narrative whilst still providing a source of satire
throughout, taking the heat off the violence and making it more funny
and lighter to watch. My film has humour throughout as I have the
Wipeout music by the Surfaris to make the robbery more light hearted
and satirical and the last shot with the robbers looking directly into the
camera shows the cliché action films when they are caught by the
police adding humour.

6. WHY UNIVERSAL SHOULD
DISTRIBUTE ‘HEIST GIRLS’By looking at some of the genres of film produced by Universal
Pictures they produce a lot of variety of films ranging from Horror
to family. They do also produce a number of action movies which
have become very successful such as the Fast and Furious Films.
They also produce a few action comedy movies such as Central
Intelligence , which proves to me that this distributor would be a
sensible option to make my film a success. I do believe that some
of the films such as Public Enemies are similar to my film as they
follow the same conventions of guns, armed robbery, hostages and
an escape in fast vehicles. However I feel as if I have found a gap in
the market as I am combining all of these conventions with the
sub- genre of comedy. Because of this I believe my film will be a
success as I am opening my target audience up to not only action
movie fans but also fans of comedy which will increase the market I
will be entering and will have to potential to earn more at the box
office.
