Whitepaper on the uptake of virtual conferences- essentials for successAfriciaRabare
Like every new trend, there are people who catch on fast, others who dilly dally, and those who prefer to fight newness than to give it a chance to impress them. This whitepaper is for all the three parties- it will give you insight on how the platforms work, guidance on how to select the right virtual tool, and knowledge on the basics of conducting a good virtual conference.
You will gain clarity on the importance of knowing your audience before selecting the virtual tool that resonates with them-because in as much as different platforms do different things, you cannot buy engagement. You have to build engagement (Tara Nicholle Nelson) from assessing your audience.
Do you want your audience to be as intrigued as they would be if it were an in-person conference? you want them to relish this new approach? then check out this whitepaper to learn more.

Cisco vs. Microsoft - Strategic Decisions for a Unified Communications Deploy...Brent Kelly
Many organizations have Cisco networking equipment as well as Cisco voice communications solutions. These same organizations also have Microsoft desktop software and MIcrosoft Lync, which is used by many enterprises for presence and instant messaging.
Both vendors are pushing very hard to have organizations adopt their entire unified communications offering. For Cisco, this means deploying the Jabber client along with WebEx for conferencing and Cisco video solutions. For Microsoft, this means deploying more capabilities in Microsoft Lync, including conferencing and collaboration as well as Enterprise Voice.
In many companies, there are articulate and impassioned people who are sincerely trying to do their best who argue for one vendor's unified communications offering over the other. This often ends up in a "Cisco versus Microsoft" discussion, which may become a heated argument.
What to do?
This presentation looks at many of the issues involved with a Cisco vs. Microsoft unified communications debate. It provides individuals and companies with strategies for eliminating one vendor as well as ways the two solutions may co-exist in the organization.

Online Video Collaboration for Manufacturing Industry - Summary ReportAbhizar Bootwala
Large companies with project teams spread over several countries and multiple time zones are increasingly turning to videoconferencing to connect geographically dispersed groups. Companies are realizing that flying employees from one location to the next not only chalks up travel costs, but also decreases productivity and leads to team exhaustion.
Of course, videoconferencing isn’t a complete replacement for face-to-face meetings. Companies that are leading the way in videoconferencing report those periodic in-person visits are still necessary and they caution that videoconferencing is most effective if team members already have an existing relationship. There’s no doubt personal videoconferencing tools can enhance remote employees’ communication and productivity. Video ties together disparate and often isolated workers by letting physical, visual nuances shine through.

Delivering a UC Experience - Migration vs. IntegrationWainhouse Research
A well-implemented and fully-adopted UC solution delivers benefits to end users, IT teams, and the enterprise alike. Of course, the terms “well-implemented” and “full-adopted” are more often found in UC roadmaps and strategy presentations, and less often in live production environments. This SlideShare provides a comparison between two common approaches to UC deployment: Migration vs Integration. Our goal is to challenge the traditional approach, and investigate a potentially faster path to a fully unified user experience – without risk to the end user, the IT team, or the business.

Live Video's Central Role In The Changing WorkforceBlueJeans Network
Whether it’s Skyping grandma, FaceTiming friends, or using the Periscope social media app, live two-way video is playing an increasingly central role in everyday lives – particularly among younger people. However, while many understand the benefits of live video, it is a communication tool that has yet to be fully embraced in the workplace.
BlueJeans Network commissioned a survey to uncover the current attitudes and trends surrounding live video usage. The goal was to determine how employees felt about adopting this form of communication at work, and how responsive organizations might be to changing their communication methods.
Recruiting Without Boundaries – How Video Can Bridge the Distance Between You...BlueJeans Network
In a job seeker's market, many businesses find they need to look well outside of their local market to recruit the talent they need to succeed. This strategy puts HR teams under pressure to make meaningful connections with all potential hires and employees, near and far, while also keeping costs in check. High-quality videoconferencing is one solution—and this eBook outlines several ways the technology can make HR's job easier.
With more and more younger employees entering the work place and expecting to be able to use video as they do in their personal lives (63%) businesses are risking alienating the ‘selfie-generation’ from their workforce.
Discover the key reasons why face-to-face collaboration will always be critical for business. With so many new technologies available for us to communicate, nothing can replace the value of meeting face-to-face.
Techniques to optimize the pagerank algorithm usually fall in two categories. One is to try reducing the work per iteration, and the other is to try reducing the number of iterations. These goals are often at odds with one another. Skipping computation on vertices which have already converged has the potential to save iteration time. Skipping in-identical vertices, with the same in-links, helps reduce duplicate computations and thus could help reduce iteration time. Road networks often have chains which can be short-circuited before pagerank computation to improve performance. Final ranks of chain nodes can be easily calculated. This could reduce both the iteration time, and the number of iterations. If a graph has no dangling nodes, pagerank of each strongly connected component can be computed in topological order. This could help reduce the iteration time, no. of iterations, and also enable multi-iteration concurrency in pagerank computation. The combination of all of the above methods is the STICD algorithm. [sticd] For dynamic graphs, unchanged components whose ranks are unaffected can be skipped altogether.

Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.
