6. Kerrang! From looking at both magazine front cover at the same time you can guess that they are targeted at teenager into music such as; punk, rock, metal and a mixture of genres similar to them. You can tell whos the targeted audience by the way The images and texted has been used. Personally I think kerrang! Could be aimed at a slightly younger audience as its busy and because they advertised free posters which are the type of things you seen in young teens and children's magazine. Both magazine uses fonts that are similar to the masthead, these fonts are then used throughout both magazines to give a professional look and to stop fonts clashing This image is similar to my magazines main image as it uses dark colours which are effective in give a dangerous feel to both the magazine as it also grabs people attention as they want to know why or who they are fighting. It also helps give a rebellious feel that connects with all teenagers. Like my magazine kerrang! Uses cover lines. The different between my magazine and kerrang! is that they uses quotes from the other articles.
7. By looking at both front cover at the same time rock sound looks like it features heaver music the my own magazine. By the images, fonts, layouts and language used throughout the magazine I think that Rock sound is aimed at a slightly older target audience (young adults) Rocksound Both magazine fonts go together without clashing. I think that the font rock sound magazine work better because the font look almost the exacted same unlike Kerrang! Font where the differences where clear Much like my magazine rock sound only uses one mage on my front cover This image is similar to my magazine image as they both use ripped and bloody clothing give both images a violent and slightly gory look. Also the expressions used in both images look both quite cold. The images are both quite rebellious looking and also the lighting give the people in the images a pale and ghostly look Again both magazine have cover lines . the only difference is that rock sound has to groups of cover lines, one with quotes from the articles inside and the other with just a list of band featured in the magazine ( just like my cover lines)
8. By looking at both magazines at the same time I think they are both looking at the exact same target audience as both magazine are looking at band that are in the same genres and are set out in similar ways. Both magazine suggest they are aimed at 15- 18 years Music & Noise Magazine There are no quotes on the front cover, making the reader need to pick up the magazine to see what the articles are about rather then judging it from what's one the cover Both magazine only use one image on the front cover, giving more focus to the main article. Both image give the models a pale look this could have been achieved by brightening the image in Photoshop?) The cover line are written on both magazine the same way (only band names no quotes)
10. When doing my magazine I didn’t use a skyline or a pull quote as I wanted the reader to want to find out what inside the magazine Unlike most magazine my masthead is in front of the image instead of behind. I did this as it shows the magazine as being new. I also didn’t want to ruin my image by cutting it so that the words could go behind there heads When creating my main image I wanted to make it rebellious and quite dark. The bloody clothes ties into what the magazine and the main article is about (fighting to get noticed in the music industry and how hard it can be). I used the brightener on Photoshop to give the models a pain and ill look. Like most magazine I used a tag line. By looking at the front cover its easy to see that the house colours are green, black. I had chosen the house colours before I had taken the image so I tried to involve then in the main photo When I decided to use cover lines I didn’t want to use quotes as some people may judge the magazine if they don’t like what's on the cover. With no quotes this forces the reader to pick up the magazine and to see what else it offers (that might not of fitted on the front cover)
11. This image was taken from a devil sold his soul gig. I decided to use this picture to link in with the gig review page. My contents page is really simple as again I have only used one image. I also decided to break up the text to make the page more interesting. I kept to the house colours on this page To give my contents page a bit of a individual look I tried to create a broken glass effect on the image to link in with the name chaos.
12. I decided to use this image on my double page spread as I liked the idea of using the swing chains as a frame for the interview When doing my interview I decided to write it as a question and answer piece. This would help point out that my magazine isn’t aimed at adults but teen. I also tried to make the article relate to the readers
13. My front cover is quite simple and hasn’t really challenged the forms and conventions of a real media product as I used the basic of one.
14. Distribution Who would distribute your magazine? I think someone like H. Bauer Publishing. LTD would publish my music magazine because they publish magazine like Mojo, Q and Kerrang! that look at music and the people behind it. I also think they might distribute my magazine because it looks at up and coming artist that non of the magazine really do. The fact that my magazine looks at up and coming artist could help sell magazines because famous band have started to invite local band to open there gig for them when touring. This would give people a chance to find new music that they have been demanding. Another reason I think they would publish my magazine is because it involving the public and it lets them have there say making chaos there magazine.
16. How do you address/ attract you audience The images: For my front cover image I tried to make the girls come across as strong and rebellious. Most magazine have the females looking all innocent or sexy but I wanted to give the image a more realistic look rather then play to the girly magazine stereotypes. I wanted an image that teenage girls could relate to. For my contents page I used a gig picture to give a feel to what the magazine was about but to also get my reader remembering there gig experience. For my double page spread I wanted to give a similar look to the front page but to add to the image I wanted to be set in a park to show the playfulness of the band The language: When writing my interview I wanted it to be fun but at the same time finding out what the reader wants . I used some slang word so that teenager could relate without feeling patronised. The content: I wanted the magazine to be something the reader could make there own, so that they would want to by every issue. It will be a magazine they actually want to read all they way though
17. When I asked people in my questionnaire who did they think my magazine was aimed at they said: 1.Mature Teenagers interested in real music 2.teen's into music and possible people starting bands 3.Teenagers 4.Teenagers that enjoy music by both established artists that are signed as well as up and coming unsigned artists. 5.12-16 year olds 6.People who are more into music than just listning to it casually. 7.fifteen to twenty-five year olds 8.teenagers grunge kids
18. When I asked people in my questionnaire what type of music do you think my magazine looks at they said; 1.Punk indie rock 2.punk, rock, emo ect. 3.Alternative 4.Electro, Dubstep, Rock and Metal. 5.Grunge, punk, rock, metal 6.Rock/Metal/emo 7.indie,goth,metal. 8.indie grunge live rock Hello Hi :D
19. overall From looking at the audience response for my magazine, people thought that my magazine was aimed at teenagers who are interested in more then just listening to music. And was aimed at people who enjoy punk, emo, rock, metal and indie music When looking back at my reader profile which I did before I started making my music magazine you can see that I got across the audience I was aiming at to the public
20. Reader profile Sex: Female Age: 16 – 18 year oldsMusic: Electric, Punk, Rock, Metal ect…Example bands: Attack Attack, Tek Cne, Bring Me The Horizon, Bless The Fall, Our Last Night, You Me At Six.More likely to be a student's as they go out partying and they also now have more freedom.Likes/ hobbies: horror/thriller/spoof movies, stand up, gigs (festivals), clothing (drop dead, baby cakes, paint the stars), energy drinks, signings and hanging out with friends. Open minded to new things and meeting new people.
21. How does your magazine represent particular social groups My magazine is representing the working class as that’s who would by and be involved with this magazine. I’m doing this by looking at band who have made it on there own but also giving opportunities to people starting a band. The people who would buy this magazine would probable still be in education with a possible Saturday job.
22. what I have learnt from making my second magzine After doing my music magazine I feel I have learnt how important it is to mach your fonts. Looking back at the different fonts I used for my college magazine I can see that it looks rushed, Where as on my music magazine the fonts go together. I have also learnt how planning a photo shoot make the magazine looks much better then a last minuet photo.
23. Artist: Devil sold his soul Song: Drowning/Sinking Bye Thanks for watching
