Rethinking UX Research - Design4Drupal 2014 keynote presentationPerfetti Media
How do you really know what your users want? How do you ensure your designs work for your prospects and customers? How can you be confident that your design changes improve your site?
There are those that believe that user research must be a complex and scientific process that takes a lot of time, money, and resources. However, in the real world, most designers and developers don't have the luxury to spend weeks and months on their user research.
It's possible to get useful results without the time-consuming expense of traditional user research methods. In this presentation, Christine Perfetti will share proven strategies and techniques for successfully integrating UX research into your process. You'll learn how to answer essential design questions using methods that take only a day—and sometimes only 10 minutes!
Session 3: Sketching and User-centered DesignLeanna Gingras
This week's UX class covers good design, brainstorming and concepting, sketching, design rules of thumb, and the art of critique. There's a LOT of sketching exercises. Learn by doing!
These are lecture slides for the User Experience class I'm teaching at SVC. Learn more here: http://svc-ux1.leannagingras.com/
Slides for session 1 of my class at SVC. Part 1 gets at what it means to user experience. What's a good user experience? What are the different ways of doing UX? Part 2 is about interviewing - the most central skill a UX practitioner can have.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2. In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
(Answered on the first page of my
blog)
3. How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary texts?
• The three products together are effective as
they all have the same house style, this will
make them recognizable. They also feature
one main character which will bring fans of
the actress’ other movies to watch it.
4. • What have you learnt from audience
feedback? (first page of my blog)
5. How did you use new media
technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?
Research
I used sites like youtube, blogger and imbd to
research my product. I also used slideshare and
looked at examples from past students. This
made the tasks easier for me to organize, for
example I used blogger instead of inserting my
work into a powerpoint like I did in AS. This way
all my work was together and accessible from
anywhere.
