The filmmakers addressed their audience through costumes, locations, and genre. The main character wore casual clothes to appear average, while the government worker wore a suit. Scenes were shot at the college warehouse and roads to attract local viewers. The conspiracy thriller genre and storyline about leaked government secrets were meant to attract a mature audience interested in deeper plots. Music and sound effects also aimed to appeal to different age groups. The film was screened locally and uploaded online to reach more viewers.

How did you attract/address your audience?

2. Costumes & Locations
 When we chose our idea for the film and decided to go with it. We were
already thinking about locations, props, costumes and the title of the film.
 For costume the idea was to represent me the ‘average guy’ as a casual
guy, This meant that I had to wear casual clothes but not a hoodie because
it could give out the wrong impression and not a suit as it could not fit with
the movie theme. But for the government worker we had to had a suit as
he has to represent authority. I think that these clothes will attract the
audience as it is out of the ordinary as in real movies you get most of the
people wearing formal clothes instead of just casual.
 For locations it wasn’t that hard to find them as we used everyone's
knowledge of the local area in our group and came up with suggestions.
Then we visited them and then decided what would be the best locations.
The first scene was shot in our college’s warehouse which was I think a
perfect location as it had everything that we asked for and because it was
raining that day, we got extra footage like the water dripping down which I
think really sets the mood. For the second location we kindly asked a local
building to use their door so that we can do a match cut of me opening a
door then after I come out of the building we used a road near the college
for the scene where I find the USB. Then we also filmed a shot from the
college looking down at me to add the CCTV effect. I think that the location
will the attract certainly local people but because London is such a big city
people from all over the city will want to watch it as well as other major
cities in the UK.

3. Props, Actors & Film name
 For props we used we used a gun which was used by the
government worker, a rope which was used to tie me up to pillar
and fake blood to put on my face. Thought the rope and the fake
blood does not really attract/appeal to the audience in a lot of ways,
the gun certainly does as it add to the movie that action feel to it
which attracts a lot of people.
 For actors I think that we chose our roles right. The government
official was played by Mehdi, we thought this would fit him as he is
taller and more built than me so we thought this ticked the
conventions for government officials. I played a more causal guy,
we decided to go for a causal look as that casual look has biggest
percentage of the population, so we attract more people.
 For the film name, I came up with 'Greydog' the grey is due to the
colour of the USB itself (metallic) but also grey is considered a
'shady', 'mysterious' colour which gives it interest. The word 'dog'
defines the 'power' the USB contains, for e.g. when owning a dog
(in this situation the USB) it will be loyal to the owner. The USB
holds secret information about everyone, but if you don't have it, it
will 'bite you' just like a dog would. The person with the USB is
capable of leaking information about anyone.

4. Storyline & Genre
 I think that the storyline which is about an average citizen bumping
into a USB containing secret information about the government and
the struggles he goes through whether to tell the world about them
or to just forget about them. I think that this storyline has the
potential to attract the audience to the main character as we wanted
to make the movie about his feelings and to show consequences of
every move he does. Having the main character get shot in the first
scene would get the audience to feel sorry for him which will keep
the them attached to him, this will make the audience watch the
movie so that they can see how his paths led him to getting shot.
 The genre for our film is a conspiracy thriller, this type of genre
requires a deep story line which we have. The deep storyline is
more likely to attract a more mature audience as they like deeper
storylines. In our storyline we have secret agencies involved, so
with this you have to have a bit of action, though we don’t really
show any action in our film the gun and the gun shot are a hint
towards this. Having a bit of action will attract a bigger audience as
action is the one of the biggest genres in cinematography with over
20% market share and it is growing every year.

5. Sound
 For sound we used Soundtrack Pro to add more sound effects
like the water drops and the gun shot. We also used music from
a copyright free website to add more emotion to the film. We
found music for the distribution company, for the first scene and
the second. The music for the first scene is more mature as it
has elements of guitar to add that sense of loneliness and
tragedy. This obviously attracts a more mature audience. But in
the second scene we used music that is appealing to a younger
audience.

6. How we reached our audience
 After our film was shown in the cinema, we got direct feedback
from fellow students. We got feedback in a video camera from 2
people and the rest we didn’t record but overall their opinions
on our film were really positive. The cinema release was really
good but for a small film like ours, not being able to fill up the
seats will mean that we will make a loss. After we finished our
movie we posted it on YouTube and Vimeo. Candi Productions
will release 250 DVD’s for the audience to have our film as a
hard copy which will make more revenue for our film
