Questionnaire results
We asked people in the school some relevant
questions in order to target our movie at the
right audience, fulfilling all the needs of our
clients.
This question has a clear response that the most suitable colours for our opening
scenes are pastel colours. Because of this we will choose soft background colours to
reflect the calm, sweet and relaxing atmosphere of our film.
This question was asked to establish the sub genre and theme of our opening 2
minute film. Although the responses were not obvious, we did not want to produce a
film the clients did not want. We also wanted to stay away from the "cliche"
stereotype romantic films. The responses showed that our audience preferred real life
realistic films as apposed to fairytale genre.
This was a qualitative piece of data and was used to establish the sort of look our actor
and actress should have in order to best achieve the 'romantic couple' look. After
researching our romantic film trailers, we observed the look of the actors and actresses
and wanted to back up this evidence through our questionnaire. This worked effectively
as both showed the typical romance couple had to be 'good looking' and of a younger
generation
Despite our results showing that more people proffered a film that followed the
storyline of love at first sight our research produced very different data. If we were to
follow the theme of real life genre, we have to stay away from the love at first sight
cliche. Therefore we must ensure throughout the film the theme does not come
across as cringe and unrealistic.
Although this research may seem unnecessary
we had to ask our audience whether they
would be offended by sexual references. This is
to settle our hesitations of the appropriateness
of our initial ideas.
Our audiences certificate
recommendation also supported this
appropriateness of filming.
In order to establish the setting of scenes in our opening film we wanted to ask the
audience which settings they feel would be most appropriate to avoid a sense of
unrealism as we did not want to portray a fairytale style genre.
The results from this question allowed us to further expand our research into what the
audience truly chooses to watch. It has given us ideas of popular films to textually
analyse, studying camera angles and plots, in order to gain inspiration for our own
piece. Therefore we can look at the most successful ways of filming the romance genre
including techniques and professional camera uses.
