Question1
In what ways does your media use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media
products?
Same colour
scheme, red,
white and black
but mine has
orange and yellow
to make it stand
out more
The top part is different but not very much as my
writing is in a box whereas the NME writing is just
there
The name of the
artist is on top
of the model
Barcodes on
both magazines
are in the
bottom right
corner
Also different is my title is
under the ‘artists’ head but
NME is over the top.
My PLUS section is in the bottom left in dark
blue boxes so it catches the eyes of the
reader, whereas NME has their PLUS at the
right side, still following the colour scheme
NME magazine 8 years ago cost £2.10 with a free CD and posters inside. I priced
mine as £2.99 because of all the free things, free posters and free music sheets.
Music sheets alone will be more then £2.99 for at least a book and then posters from
some shops are £1.99, so I believe my price is ok and not too much. I have followed
the conventions of other media products in the same genre as mine, however, I took
ideas mainly from NME magazine, this being colour and layout. I challenged a
convention as I have noticed most pop rock magazines have mainly middle aged
men on the front, whereas mine has a female teenager on the front. I challenged the
convention as it improves my aim at my target audience.
