Europeana Archaeology is a project running from February 2019 to July 2020 with the objectives of increasing the quality and quantity of archaeology collections available through Europeana. It involves 16 partners from 14 European countries who will add new open access collections containing objects, sites, archives and multimedia resources from across prehistory to the post-medieval period. The project will develop vocabularies and enrichment services to improve discovery of the collections and make them more multilingual. All content will be added to Europeana's Archaeology thematic collection and showcased through exhibitions to promote reuse of the cultural heritage resources.

• Content ranging in date from prehistory, classical archaeology, medieval
and post-medieval European heritage
• Objects, sites, monuments, sacred places and buildings
• Archives from notable archaeologists
• Images, texts and 3D models
Quality content
• Tier 2 or above
• Rights cleared to open access
• Metadata which supports discovery

7. Enabling enrichment
•Focus on improving the discoverability and multilinguality of
content
•Partners will contribute to developing vocabulary resources
by mapping terms used in their datasets to AAT
• A vocabulary mapping tool will be developed
•New cloud-based enrichment services will be developed
• Vocabularies, place names, periods
• Will be available to external aggregators to use

8. Showcasing the content
•All content will be added to the Thematic collection
•We plan to create galleries, exhibitions and blog posts to
showcase our content
•And to promote Europeana Archaeology to our networks via
events etc.
