European B2C e-commerce grew 19% in 2012 to reach €311.6 billion. The top three markets - UK, Germany, and France - accounted for 61% of total European e-commerce sales. Growth rates varied significantly across regions, with more mature markets like the UK and Netherlands seeing 10-15% growth while emerging Eastern and Southern European markets like Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey and Greece experienced 30-40% or more annual growth. Western Europe remained the largest region for e-commerce in Europe at €160.8 billion, followed by Central Europe at €76.3 billion and Southern Europe at €32.4 billion, which saw the fastest 29.3% growth of any region.
