The use of R in Predictive Maintenance: A use case with TRUMPF Laser GmbHeoda GmbH
The buzz for industry 4.0 continues – digitalizing business processes is one of the main aims of companiesin the 21st century. One topic gains particular importance: predictive maintenance. Enterprises use thismethod in order to cut production and maintenance costs and to increase reliability.Being able to predict machine failures, performance drops or quality deterioration is a huge benefit forcompanies. With this knowledge, maintenance and failure costs can be reduced and optimized. With the help of R and its massive community, analysts can apply the best algorithms and methods forpredictive maintenance. When a good analytic model for predictive maintenance has been found, companiesare challenged to implement them in their own environments and workflows. Especially regarding the workflowacross different departments, it is necessary to find an appropriate solution which is capable of interdisciplinarywork, as well.My talk will show how this challenge was solved for TRUMPF Laser GmbH, a subsidiary of TRUMPF, aworld-leading high-technology company which offers production solutions in the machine tool, laser andelectronic sectors. I would like to share my experience with R and predictive maintenance in a real-worldindustry scenario and show the audience how to automate R code and visualize it in a front-end solution forall departments involved.

Four components to Dental Milling…
•Scanner – from impression or chair side
•CAD Software – Used on scan data to design final piece to be machined
•CAM Software – creates the CNC cutterpaths which drive the CNC milling machine
•Mill – creates the physical components by cutting material
Different Systems for Dental Milling …
•Closed Systems
•Open Systems
•Turn Key Systems
•Opened Systems “formerly closed”
•Closing Systems “formerly open”
Closed Systems:
Start to finish complete package which utilizes their own customized hardware and software.
Examples: Sirona®, Lava®, Kavo® (old Macintosh computers were closed also)
You are buying a complete system encompassing all components of manufacture (scanner, CAD, CAM, mill)
Advantages:
• All the selections have been done for you.
• Purchase and Support from one company.
Disadvantages:
• May be locked into purchasing their materials / blanks.
• May be more expensive to purchase and maintain.
• Locked into one process model – more…
Locked into one process model :
If everyone has the same closed system, then no single company can have a competitive milling advantage over any other company, as they all use the same system.
Closed systems do not allow for innovation within the process, or for companies willing to attempt new or different methods to implement them. They allow for no competitive advantage.
Open Systems:
End user selects the individual pieces of the process, based on their requirements. (scanner, CAD, CAM, mill)
If they want to cut metal, they can choose a mill good for metal, if they only want to cut soft materials, they may choose a different machine.
Not locked into any particular process.
Advantages :
• Allow Labs to make the best selection based on their individual goals and objectives.
• Allow for continuous innovation and for labs to create their own competitive advantages.
• Allow for labs to choose among several material and tooling suppliers for cost efficiency.
Opened Systems:
These are systems that were closed, but ar

An improved modulation technique suitable for a three level flying capacitor ...IJECEIAES
This research paper introduces an innovative modulation technique for controlling a 3-level flying capacitor multilevel inverter (FCMLI), aiming to streamline the modulation process in contrast to conventional methods. The proposed
simplified modulation technique paves the way for more straightforward and
efficient control of multilevel inverters, enabling their widespread adoption and
integration into modern power electronic systems. Through the amalgamation of
sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) with a high-frequency square wave
pulse, this controlling technique attains energy equilibrium across the coupling
capacitor. The modulation scheme incorporates a simplified switching pattern
and a decreased count of voltage references, thereby simplifying the control
algorithm.

Rainfall intensity duration frequency curve statistical analysis and modeling...bijceesjournal
Using data from 41 years in Patna’ India’ the study’s goal is to analyze the trends of how often it rains on a weekly, seasonal, and annual basis (1981−2020). First, utilizing the intensity-duration-frequency (IDF) curve and the relationship by statistically analyzing rainfall’ the historical rainfall data set for Patna’ India’ during a 41 year period (1981−2020), was evaluated for its quality. Changes in the hydrologic cycle as a result of increased greenhouse gas emissions are expected to induce variations in the intensity, length, and frequency of precipitation events. One strategy to lessen vulnerability is to quantify probable changes and adapt to them. Techniques such as log-normal, normal, and Gumbel are used (EV-I). Distributions were created with durations of 1, 2, 3, 6, and 24 h and return times of 2, 5, 10, 25, and 100 years. There were also mathematical correlations discovered between rainfall and recurrence interval.
Findings: Based on findings, the Gumbel approach produced the highest intensity values, whereas the other approaches produced values that were close to each other. The data indicates that 461.9 mm of rain fell during the monsoon season’s 301st week. However, it was found that the 29th week had the greatest average rainfall, 92.6 mm. With 952.6 mm on average, the monsoon season saw the highest rainfall. Calculations revealed that the yearly rainfall averaged 1171.1 mm. Using Weibull’s method, the study was subsequently expanded to examine rainfall distribution at different recurrence intervals of 2, 5, 10, and 25 years. Rainfall and recurrence interval mathematical correlations were also developed. Further regression analysis revealed that short wave irrigation, wind direction, wind speed, pressure, relative humidity, and temperature all had a substantial influence on rainfall.
Originality and value: The results of the rainfall IDF curves can provide useful information to policymakers in making appropriate decisions in managing and minimizing floods in the study area.
