Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been shown to enhance learning through improving critical thinking, problem solving, and conceptual understanding when integrated with teaching. Several studies demonstrate that ICT allows for networking and collaborative learning, helping to more easily incorporate principles that promote learning. In response, UNESCO has created a project to help teacher education institutions in Asia-Pacific prepare teachers on best practices for using technology in the classroom. Malaysia also recognizes the importance of ICT in developing a technologically literate workforce as part of its Vision 2020 goals, leading its Ministry of Education to make ICT a central focus of its educational transformation efforts.
