1. Essays On Frankenstein
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Essays on Frankenstein" can be both a challenging and
intellectually stimulating endeavor. Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" is a complex and multifaceted
novel, touching upon themes such as morality, science, and the consequences of unchecked
ambition. As a writer, delving into the intricate layers of this classic work requires not only a
comprehensive understanding of the novel itself but also the ability to explore the broader
literary and philosophical implications it holds.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the nuanced characterizations in "Frankenstein,"
particularly the moral ambiguity surrounding Victor Frankenstein and his creature. Constructing
a compelling analysis demands a keen awareness of Shelley's intentions and the ability to
articulate the intricacies of the characters' motivations and moral dilemmas.
Additionally, addressing the novel's thematic elements, such as the ethical implications of
scientific advancements and the societal commentary embedded in the narrative, adds another
layer of complexity. This requires thorough research and critical thinking to present a well-
rounded and informed perspective on the issues raised by Shelley.
Moreover, developing a coherent structure for the essay becomes crucial to ensure a logical flow
of ideas. Juggling the exploration of various themes, character analyses, and broader contextual
discussions can be a daunting task. Striking a balance between depth and conciseness is essential
to keep the essay focused and engaging for the reader.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Essays on Frankenstein" necessitates a comprehensive
understanding of Mary Shelley's novel, coupled with the ability to synthesize complex ideas and
present them coherently. It is a task that challenges not only one's literary analysis skills but also

2. The Piltdown Hoax
Introduction The infamous event of the Piltdown hoax is one that continues to draw
speculative attention over a century after the initial announcement of the
paleoanthropological findings. Although many scientists, especially those involved in
the field of paleoanthropology, would like to forget the incident entirely, the Piltdown
mantaxonomically referred to as Eoanthropus dawsoni is perhaps the greatest hoax in
anthropological history. By 1912, British archaeologists and paleontologists were
desperate for a significant paleoanthropological finding that would provide the
missing link between humans and apes in hominin evolution (Prosser, 2009). The
Piltdown man was originally a famous finding that straddled the human animal

A. C. H., was discovered in the loft space above the office of the Keeper of Zoology
the office Hinton had occupied from 1936 to 1945. This was the first concrete
evidence implicating Hinton in the Piltdown hoax (Gardiner, 2003). Contained in the
trunk were x teeth similarly stained to the materials discovered at Piltdown I, while
several other materials, such as elephant and hippopotami teeth and bone fragments,
had been whitened similar in fashion to the cricket bat found at the Piltdown II site;
the cricket bat having been made form an elephant femur. Hinton had experimented
with bone and tooth staining (De Groote et al., 2016) predominantly staining them
with iron to match the gravels of a Pleistocene era (Gardiner, 2003)... Also among
Hinton s effects, were eight human teeth that had been stained with iron, chromium,
and manganese (Gardiner Currant, 1996), similar to those of the Piltdown site. When
the fluorine dating method was implemented this further incriminated Hinton as the
findings from the Piltdown I site evidenced a recent ape jaw and canine had been
artificially modified, stained and planted at Piltdown I, along with parts of a similarly
stained recent human skull (De Groote, 2016, p. 4). The method Hinton practiced

Did you know, John, that this beach is one of the most famous sectors of the D
Day operation? It was a landing spot for more than 40,000 American troops who
waded through the surf to face a barrier of German soldiers and artillery.
Unfortunately, an estimated 5,000 Allied soldiers died within the first few hours
of landing. Celeste: But, by the end of the day, the Allies had successfully stormed
Normandy s beaches. This is one of the reasons why these D Day beaches are so
significant to this country it was the beginning of the liberation of France! Rachel:
In the following weeks, the Allies battled their way across the Normandy
countryside against the German resistance as well as across the dense landscape of
marshes and hedgerows. By the end of August, 1944 they reached the Seine River,
Paris was liberated and the Germans were removed from north western France
which effectively concluded the Battle of Normandy. Celeste: Not only did the D
Day landing beaches signify the battle which allowed the liberation of France from
the Nazis, it was seen as the beginning of the end of World War

In The Jaguar Smile we see a number of actions that are considered to be political
behavior, based on the definition and examples provided by Dr. Munroe. One of
the more easily identifiable political behaviors that we see is the revolution itself.
This is a major political behavior, it was the people s way of saying that they are
done with the Somoza government and they are ready for massive change. A
second political behavior that we see in The Jaguar Smile is voting. Voting is
mentioned more than once in the book, and evidence of people voting can be
observed in the epilogue. As Rushdie is on the airplane leaving Nicaragua, he has a

Gentrification began to garner a great deal of attention from scholars, politicians, and
the media soon after the phenomenon was first identified by Ruth Glass in the 1964

gentrification, whether gentrification is a legitimate means of improving the
economy of metropolitan neighborhoods, or if the influx of wealthier residents into a
low income neighborhood is more akin to an invasion,, an invasion which could lead

Theory
Soon after the term gentrification was conceived, scholars began to develop and
debate its theoretical foundation. Neil Smith and David Ley engaged in one of the
more important theoretical debates about the causal factors of gentrification. Neil
Smith s rent gap theory frames gentrification in economic terms. Essentially the rent
gap theory is based on the classic economic law of supply and demand (Smith,
1979). According to Smith when there is a disparity between income collected from
rent and the potential achievable rental income, investors will seek to renovate and
increase rent (Smith, 1979). Ley rejects Smith s claim that gentrification is caused
only by the changing housing market and presented his own theory which places
societal needs as the driving force behind
8. How Alzheimer s Changed My Family
Alzheimer s is a disease that affects roughly 3 million families each year, including
my own. Around this time three years ago my parents got a call that changed our
entire lives. At 3 A.M. they received a phone call from a police department, in a
surrounding town, that they had pulled over my step grandpa, who was driving
down the highway on the wrong side of the road. This was the first of many calls
that my parents received in regard to my grandfather. There were instances of him
showing up to work, although he was 20 years in retirement. He would go out to
eat and not realize that he had been at the restaurant 10 minutes prior to eat.
Quickly, my parents realized that something was off and medical assistance was
needed. After some series of testing, it was very clear to the doctor that Alzheimer
s was the answer to his lack of memory and at the age of 86, he was officially
diagnosed with the disease. This news was hard for my entire family, and extremely
hard for my step father. Not only did the doctor determine that Alzheimer s was
causing these events to occur, but that there was a genetic link and my step father
could also carry the gene. He has personally chosen not to test for the gene, and to
continue to live his life to the fullest. As a family, this is something that has changed

Alice was diagnosed with early onset and could understand what was going to happen

Entrepreneurship Challenges in 21st. Century| | What is Entrepreneurship? The
definition of entrepreneurship has been debated among scholars, educators,
researchers, and policy makers since the concept was first established in the early
1700 s. The term entrepreneurship comes from the French verb entreprendre and the
German word unternehmen , both means to undertake . Bygrave and Hofer in1891
defined the entrepreneurial process as involving all the functions, activities, and
actions associated with perceiving of opportunities and creation of organizations to
pursue them . Joseph Schumpeter introduced the modern definition of
entrepreneurship in 1934. According to Schumpeter, the carrying out of new

Although many current theories on entrepreneurship agree that there is an inherent
component of risk, the risk bearer theory alone cannot explain why some individuals
become entrepreneurs while others do not. Thus, in order to build a development
model of entrepreneurship it is necessary to look at some of the other characteristics
that help explain why some people are entrepreneurs; risk may be a factor, but it is
not the only one. Modern school of thought claims that the role of the entrepreneur is
that of an innovator; however, the definition of innovation is still widely debatable.
Kirzner suggests that the process of innovation is actually of spontaneous
undeliberate learning . Thus, the necessary characteristics of the entrepreneur is
alertness, and no intrinsic skills other than that of recognizing opportunities are
necessary. Other school of economists claims that entrepreneurs have special skills
that enable them to participate in the process of innovation. Leibenstein claims that
the dominant, necessary characteristics of entrepreneurs is that they are gap fillers
i.e. they have the ability to perceive where market fails and to develop new goods or
processes that he market demands but which are not currently being supplied. Thus,
entrepreneurs have the special ability to connect different markets and make up for
market failures and deficiencies. Though the idea that entrepreneurs are innovators is
largely acceptable, it

found that students who live on campus have a higher GPA compared to those
who live off campus. With that being said, you would think colleges would want
on campus living to be the best it can be for college students, so more students will
want to live in the residence halls, compared to off campus? Paige Herald and
Daily Fieldsted found that one of the big reasons for this is the support system
students receive when living in residence halls. I personally agree with this due to
the amount of support I get from my hall. There may be the occasional drama, but
so many girls still support you 110% no matter if it is your personal issues you are

for the ability to have more privacy and responsibility. There are so many pros and
cons that Megan Heynen found between living on and off campus. For Graceland

13. Jonathan Edwards And Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry
God
In the 1600 s the Puritans were the main religious group of that time period and they
had very strong ideals on how religion and government should go together. Jonathan
Edwards, who shared many of their ideals, preached a sermon called, Sinners in the
Hands of an Angry God and it had a very big impact on the congregation. Nathaniel
Hawthorne, although he was a writer in the 1800 s, he was fascinated with the
Puritans and their lifestyles and wrote a short story called, The Minister s Black Veil.
Both authors use specific details, tone, and imagery to convey their meaning and style
, Edwards harsh and accusatory style was more effective than Hawthorne s
melancholy and mysterious style because Edwards helps the reader understand the
effects sincan have in one s life.
Throughout Sinners Edwards uses specific details to show God s anger towards
those who have sinned. In paragraph five of Sinners he says, dreadful pit of the
glowing flames of the wrath of God. Edwards uses strong diction here to give the
congregation an idea of how angry God is with all who have sinned. Along those
same lines, Hawthorne also uses strong diction in his details, for example pale faced
congregation on page three of MBV. He uses this detail to be sure the reader knows
the effect the veil has on the townspeople and how they were frightened by his veil.
Edwards detail on the contrary was more effective because he frightened the audience
whereas Hawthorne is very dull in the moment throughout the story.
In the same way Edwards surpasses Hawthorne again in effecting the audience more
in imagery. Edwards uses frightening imagery to give the congregation and image in
their minds to scare them into repenting. In paragraph four of Sinners he declares,
the devil is waiting for them, hell is gaping for them, the flames gather and flash
about them... this traumatises the audience because in their minds they see hell with
the devil waiting to devour them. This persuades them to repent and change their
ways because they do not want to burn in hell. Hawthorne on the other hand takes a
different approach in imagery. Whereas Edwards does it to help his persuasion
Hawthorne does it to help the reader get a better idea of the moral.

16. Media And Its Impact On The Political Movement Essay
The norm of journalism is to present information or news to the general public via
mass media. Thus, it plays an important part in everyday life. Notwithstanding, media
have a vigorous relation with politics especially among the democratic societies
(Fernandez Quijada 2013). Moreover, the media is also perceived as the fourth estate
due to the fact that it able to influence and affects the perceptions of the general
public towards the political movement (Kemp 2013). However, in comparison to the
past, nowadays, the modernisation of technology, the change of social patterns and
political conditions somewhat change how the media works (Gerth Siegert 2012). In
their article stated that media companies are predominantly private owned companies,
thus, the media are more to market orientation. Therefore, the media are not
necessarily providing vital information to the general public (Gerth Siegert 2012).
Henceforth, the media commonly utilise the practise of framing to provide
information on political matter to the general public (Hanggli 2012). Framing
denotes how the role of media influences its audiences in interpreting and

Book 1 begins with several ornate verses as Aeneas leaves Troy, and notes how a
terrible storm drove his party of its own whim, upon this Libyan coast, which led

There are also signs from the gods that his mission must continue before Aeneas

refer to Aeneas s party being blown ashore at Carthage in North Africa nearer
modern day Tunis. One learns that Aeneas s wife died in Troy and that he goes
forward with his father, bereaved, and with his loyal retainers.
Virgil is thought to have recited Books 2, 4 and 6 of the Aeneid to Augustuswhen the

His obedience and determination will bear their fruit in future generations of his own

times when his odyssey and its struggles seem worth it. Aeneas s reader is left with
a comment that fortune favours men who dare (Virgil, Aeneid 10.386 393). Like
many a hero of the ancient Greco Roman world, the struggles of Aeneas as a
refugee Trojan leader involve courage and temerity. His efforts will set the world
right according to the wishes of the gods in a new day to come under Augustus
Caesar in Rome. Aeneas s trials and tribulations are trivial in contrast with the greater
aim. The ancient Mediterranean seems to have been full of warfare and would be
heroes hoping to benefit from political instability. Aeneas is the one. His arrival on

an unexpected rival for the Pamunkeys and their powerful emperor Powhatan, and a
force he could not have reckoned with based on his early information. Both the
English and Native leaders met on the James with somewhat condescending
assumptions about each other that led to a long history of wary truce and mutual

Although incompetent and struggling at first, and expecting to rely on the natives
for food and assistance in their settlement in their early years, the English still
expected to overpower the Pamunkeys eventually; an event they saw as an

powerful community of natives upon their arrival but also knew they had the
superior weapons and technology. The English wanted to keep their advantages of a
surprising lack of assistance and superior military force, and they trained with
weapons in secret to avoid the Indians gauging their true potential for danger.
As one can imagine, the assumptions on both sides that the other party would be
easily dominated and controlled was grounds for an unstable yet mutually
beneficial relationship at the best, and an all out bloody fight for survival at the
worst. At first, the demand for trade in furs, gold, and pearls in Europe as well as
the Pamunkeys demand for glass beads and useful tools allowed for a truce lasting
for two years that was strengthened by John Smith s and Powhatan s leadership

societal structures such as the communities living conditions, work ethic, and gender
roles
First in the book The Giver Lois Lowry talks about gender roles. Lois Lowry puts a
twist on the gender roles. In the community, Jonas father got a job as a caretaker
while his mother got a job as a judge. In a real world situation, the gender roles
would most likely be switched around. In this community, they don t care as much
about the your gender as what you are able to do. When the government chooses jobs

In the perfect community, Lois Lowry has created, everybody lives in an identical
Home dwelling. There is no difference between each house. To make everything
perfect everything should be equal. There can t be any differences or else there
would be jealousy which could lead to death, right? In the perfect community once
you get to a certain age and you start to dream about things you are not allowed to

stirrings . This pill does stop the stirrings but it also takes away a part of you that
makes you who you are. It takes away some of the most important feelings but
everybody in the community doesn t know that. Everybody in the community is
told by the government that they should always use precise language, nothing like
the word love or angry or starving. People in the community can t always say what s

Topic: Stray Dogs in Bangkok s Temple
Abstract
Thai Buddhist temple is the most well known spot to surrender stray dogs, since they
have a ton of remains. If the temple dogs get along, then stray dog and stray. Other
normal spots incorporate disconnected streets or even outside somebody s fence.
This is the reason people can see stray dogs at most sanctuaries around Thailand.
Since nobody really care for these animals, some of them have skin infections that
make them lose their skin and they frequently notice awful. Sometimes Buddhist
cloisters effectively debilitate individuals from dumping their unwanted pets at

1. The first resources that I ve learned from this course are using the multiple job
websites online, we ve had excellent communication between classmates on how
we can benefit from using these sites out and look for specific jobs in our area.
This will assist in work as a counselor because it will help in my networking about

in October, created the world s first Communist state.
The Russian revolutions of 1917 involved a series of uprisings by workers and
peasants throughout the country and by soldiers, who were predominantly of
peasant origin, in the Russian army. Many of the uprisings were organized and led
by democratically elected councils called soviets. The soviets originated as strike
committees and were basically a form of local self government.

Known as the October Revolution or the Bolshevik Revolution, it was led by a group
of revolutionary socialists called Bolsheviks. It brushed aside the Provisional
Government. The Bolsheviks hoped that their revolution would result in more
fundamental changes to carry out socialist revolutions.
The Provisional Government was made up of liberal leaders, and as well as some
moderate socialists. The Prime minister, Lvov, was a wealthy landowner, who
favored an immediate constitutional monarchy and ultimately a republic. Lvov was
the outstanding personality in the Provisional Government. The most famous of the
moderate socialists was Aleksndr Kerensky, the minister of justice. The collapse of
the tsarist regime thus left in its wake two centers of political authority: (1) the
traditional politicians of the Provisional Government, who had little control over
the people, and (2) the democratically elected soviets, which exercised more
political power owing to support from the great majority of workers and soldiers.
This system of dual power proved to be unstable. The instability grew as the
moderate politicians proved increasingly unable to meet the rising expectations of the
laboring masses. The Provisional Government declared an end to tsarist repression
and established full civil liberties. It also promised early democratic elections, which
would decide the

economic slowdown in GDP for the Australian economy? The intention is to look at
China s recent reduction in GDP rate of growth and find out if there are any
significant negative implications for the Australian economy, and further investigate
fears in the media that the slowdown may eventually prove catastrophic for Australia.
In order to do this I analysed information about Sino Australian economic relations
and Australia s economy over the last few decades to see if China s slowdown had

At the investigation s end, I concluded the slowdown was of little significance to the
Australian economy. This was partly due to the over exaggeration of the slowdown
by the media, who failed to recognise that China s growth is still large. Combined
with Australia s diversified exports and strong international trade relations, I
concluded Australia does not overly rely on China as suggested by the media, and
should continue to grow in the long run at a healthy rate regardless of the slowdown.

Academic procrastination is an established area of research in higher education and
psychology. This phenomenon has been studied with many forms of student
assignments, including those in online courses (e.g., Goda, Yamada, Kato, Matsuda,
Saito Miyagawa, 2014; McElroy Lubich, 2013; Klingsieck, Fries, Horz, Hofer, 2012;
Rabin, Fogel, Nutter Upham, 2011). Up to 70% of university students consider
themselves to be procrastinators (Goda et al., 2014; Schouwenburg, Lay, Pychyl,
Ferrari, 2004). Researchers have focused on students timeliness in turning in
assignments, their performance on those assignments, and their perceptions of their
experiences. Studies have frequently found that there is a negative relationship
between procrastinationand learning (e.g., Tan, Ang, Klassen, Yeo, Wong, Huan,
Chong, W 2008). This paper investigates whether studentprocrastination occurs in an
open testing environment, which until recently has not been available for study.
Steel (2007) defines procrastination as voluntarily delaying action despite worry of
consequences and without external reasons for waiting. In contrast, delay is
procrastination without considering consequences (Corkin, et al., 2011). Out of
necessity, procrastination research has focused on out of class assignments that have
specific due dates. Researchers could then examine student performance and their
perceptions in relation to when the assignment was due.
Research has shown a number of adverse academic

35. Why Philosophy Is Still Necessary
As I was attempting to brain storm for this assignment, I ran out of ideas so I
decided to read the prompt again and again for inspiration and hopefully some new
ideas. That is when I realized that the prompt itself had the answer that I was looking
for. My answer was sitting there waiting for me in the last sentence of the prompt,
The questionwhether Philosophy is still necessary or not remains an intriguing
question, triggering different position. Philosophy is still necessary in our modern
and scientific world today because Philosophy is the intriguing question that is
triggered by several events in different positions in our daily lives. In our fast
paced world today, people sometimes tend to want answers all the time without
even having to ask questions and unfortunately, technology, media and social
media have made that possible. If we are to agree to define Philosophy as the
questioning of ourselves and our surroundings in order to acquire knowledge, we
would come to realize that without Philosophy we would be living a clueless life.
If it was not for Philosophy and the concept of asking questions, then Isaac Newton
would have walked away from that tree to see a doctor because an apple fell on his
head. However, he started questioning why the apple fell and going after what had
made the apple move in the first place. Now one might argue that if it was not for
science, we will never have the correct answers, thus they give science more value
and cherish it more.
37. Hills Like White Elephants Poem Analysis
The passages from The Story of an Hour and Hills Like White Elephants have
significant importance to the stories. It symbolizes many aspects of life and
situations. There are lot of significant similarities and differences in these two
passages and situations. This passage portrays the new beginning of life for Mrs.
Mallard. She could see in the open square before her house the tops of trees that
were all aquiver with the new spring life. (524) Even though on outside she is very
saddened by the fact that she lost her husband she sees new life sprouting. She
seems unhappy outside because of the lose a life while she is excited inside
because it is about a new life. The setting of the situation is a spring which is
symbolic in a way it is the time for a something fruitful. And it is extra ironic on the
fact her husband died during that time. Whatever she experiences at that point of
time whether it s the sense of sight or sound it signifies spring and new start to her
life she wished for in past.
The passage is not only symbolizing the new life, but the freedom of Mrs. Mallard.
It is not about loving her husband, for her it s the fact that her freedom is limited by
her husband when he was alive. The delicious breath of rain was in the air. . . . The
notes of a distant song which some one was singing reached her faintly, and
countless sparrows were twittering in the eaves (524). This setting of notes of
distant song, sparrows twittering is just symbolizes happiness and freedom. It is not
only the freedom from her husband but also from the society. Based on the timing
of the story, people or society might see a woman as someone who is depend on her
husband when they are married, but since her husband has died she is independent
and she can make her own decision rather than relying on someone. She is a widow,
because she lost her husband but gain something she wanted for a long time. Looking
outside she sees unlimited life to come. After her husband dies she feels happiness
and opportunities that creeps into through that window.
The story Hills Like White Elephants has its own significance and especially in this
passage. The girl stood up and walked to the end of the station. Across, on the other
38. What Is The Evil In Lord Of The Flies
There is darkness inside everyone. Evil, malice, wickedness. Society attempts to
stomp out these innate traits. In his critically acclaimed novel, Lord of the Flies,
William Golding explores what happens to a person when the pressures of society
are removed. A group of British boys are stranded on an island without any adults.
They form a society that slowly falls apart as half of the boys, led by Jack, are drawn
into the savage life accepted on the island. Ralph s group attempts to remain civil,
but their success is questionable. Jack s group becomes more and more brutal and
savage, and three of the boys die. Golding wrote this book as an allegoryfor the
psychoanalytic theory of the personality, the Id, Ego, and Superego. The Id is the
evil part, driven by base instincts and desires. The Superego strives for morality and
rules, and the Ego attempts to balance the two out. Golding strongly believed that
humans at their most base level are evil, a theory developed through his life
experiences. Golding fought in WW II, and is quoted saying World War II was the
turning point for me. I began to see what people were capable of doing. ( William
Golding3) Golding believed that without society people would revert entirely to the
Id, foregoing the Superego. He expressed this message in Lord of the Flies by
characterizing different boys as the different parts of the personality. He explored
what happens to the personality through the development of these characters. Golding

regimes of 1649 1660 assess the validity of this statement.
In this essay I will be exploring the argument of whether religion was more important
than politics in the failure of the interregnum regimes of 1649 1660 there are various
arguments to be addressed.
The first factor that I will address is the political failures that assisted in the failure of
the interregnum period. There were multiple political failures that can be provided as
reasons for the failure of the interregnum, the first of which was the dissolution of the
rump parliament after Cromwell expressed his disgust at their attitude towards
bringing in a new parliament, the rump was not ... Show more content on

Cromwell also believed that the failure of the Western Design to the West Indies
was a sign of God s displeasure at England s progress, and that a godly reform of
the nation s morals was urgently required. During August and September 1655,
Cromwell worked with John Lambert, John Disbrowe and Sir Gilbert Pickering to
finalise arrangements for the new system the rule of major generals . The Major
Generals were formally commissioned on 11 October 1655 and proclaimed on 31
October. The country was divided into 12 regions, each governed by a Major
General who was answerable only to the Lord Protector. While the Major Generals
were successful in law enforcement and in curbing security threats to the Protectorate
their attempts at reforming the nation s morals varied from region to region
according to the zeal of individual officers, but had no lasting effects. Cromwell
himself was aware of the unpopularity of military government and seems to have
given tacit support to those who opposed its renewal. The system was abandoned
early in 1657 under a new constitution: the Humble Petition and Advice.
These failures all added greatly to the eventual failure of the interregnum however
there were religious factors which added to the failure as well; the Penruddock
uprising was a royalist uprising which was able to knock the confidence of the
protector although it was dealt with quickly and efficiently by Oliver Cromwell it

Literature suggests that the Wandagee Formation conformably overlies the
Quinnanie Shale (Mory Backhouse, 1997). These two sections were most likely
deposited within a marine shelf, perhaps below the storm water wave base (notebook
page 33). The Quinnanie, displaying no trace fossils or bioturbation and generally
massive in structure may suggest that it was deposited at greater depths than the
Wandagee Formation or it may suggest a cycle of shallowing and deepening waters,
due to tidal influences. The Quinnanie representing deepened waters. Its more organic
make up may also indicate that it was deposited at greater depths than the Wandagee.
The Wandagee Formation contains a vast number of structures that indicate a
shallower environment than the Quinnanie. Whilst still being deposited below the
storm water wave base, it may be possible that it was deposited during a shallowing
oscillation. Trace fossils that were burrowing indicate shallower waters, the
stratigraphic log demonstrates these relationships, figure 22).

Quinnanie Shale is suggested to be a source rock, it has fair levels of organics, but
has low generating potential, and is most likely more gas prone. The Byro Group

know the optimal temperatures of both enzymes, it is also important to know that this
is not the only factors that affects the activity of the enzymes. Substrate
concentration, salt concentration, and pH level are affect enzymatic activity. The
presence of inhibitors, or molecules that bind to an enzyme decrease its activity, while
activators increase enzymatic activity. If the temperature of an enzyme is greater than
the optimal temperature, the active site of that enzyme denatures. In other words, it
changes shape, which will prevent substrate binding. Without the substrate binding,
the enzyme will not be able to carry out its normal functions and this can lead to a
deficiency of an enzyme. In this case, if there were insufficient amylase in human
body, it can cause cystic fibrosis, celiac disease, or Crohn s

I ve known my whole life that The University of Michigan is where I belong. When
my mom brought me to my first day of kindergarten, my response was this isn t
Michigan. At the time, I didn t truly understand what being a wolverine meant. Just
last year at San Diego State University, I found myself thinking once again, this isn t
Michigan. Then I realized that my past experiences lacked the spirited student body,
heritage and long standing traditions that Michigan has fulfilled. Although the
amount of reasons behind my drive to become a wolverine have certainly increased,
there is no doubt In my mind that I knew exactly what I wanted from a very young
age. I am applying to the Collegeof Literature, Science and the Arts. I plan to major...

I will now be looking at The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 legislation helps
protect employees against electrical injuries that occur in the work place, each year
in the UK there an estimated number of 1000 injuries at work all from electrical
shocks or burns. They have to make sure all their equipment and supplies are safe
by regular tests that show they are safe. At super Group the use of electrical
equipment is daily they have many large machines and now in each department they
use at least four laptops and other electrical equipment. There are three points every
business has to make sure they follow: * Make sure their electrical equipment is
constructed in a way that prevents danger, and making sure all the equipment is
tested properly. * Maintain their electrical systems correctly to prevent
45. Niccolo Paganini And The Romantic Movement
Artists and paintings can have a significant influence over the general attitude of a
time period by spreading a certain sentiment throughout their paintings, and overall
these artists played a major role in the spread of romanticism during the late
eighteenth century. The romantic movement defined Europe by shifting the focus
from rationalism and classicism of the Enlightenment towards emphasizing the
expression natural human emotions and imagination in art. Romanticismin general
can be characterized as a sort of rebellious reaction to the Enlightenment and
Neoclassicism, and the movement produced a new aesthetic form of art based
around addressing human nature. In this way, romantic works successfully stood as
sort of refreshing contrast to the overdone impressions of classicism. In the late
eighteenth century, romanticism would continue to emerge as a literary, artistic, and
musical movement throughout Europe. One composer who was especially
influenced by the romantic movement was Niccolo Paganini, who was a prominent
Italian composer and violinist throughout the romantic era. Paganini was especially
devoted towards being able to release emotion and individualism in his work and
viewed concerts as a catalyst for expressing his passion for the aesthetic beauty of
his pieces. In the eighteenth century, music began to play a greater role in both
public and private life, as the public put a greater emphasis on the role of music as
an art form. During this time, crowds were
46. Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Meiji Restoration
In 1894, a Sino Japanese war broke out between Qing China and Meiji Japan over the
control of Korea. The defeat of Qing government in the war not only illustrated failure
of China in attempting modernization, but also highlighted the success of Meiji
Restoration. While both countries adopted modernizing and strengthening policies in
the similar period and were with similar strengths in the beginning, they differed
much in terms of their policies and attitude towards the West, which resulted in a big
contrast between their performances in the war.
Meiji Restoration
The Meiji period was a significant era, which laid down the foundation and formed
the framework of modern Japan. During Meiji period, the Meiji government was
determined in bringing about changes including political, economic, social and
educational reforms.
One of the most remarkable changes was the establishment of a parliamentary
monarchy and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They changed the education system accordingly after observing Western systems,
emphasizing on many Western concepts such as individualism, egalitarianism,
capitalism etc. In reforming the education system, Meiji Japan got rid of conservative
Confucian ideas and changed the Japanese s thinking from the root.
Qing s Self Strengthening Movement
The Qing government, in view of the remarkable strength of Western countries and
the gradual weakening of Qing, also realized the necessity in strengthening the
country so as to resist the invasion of the West. To strengthen and modernize the
country, officials such as Zeng Guofan and Li HongZhang led a series of projects
known as Self Strengthening Movement in the 1860s.
Advocates of the movement aimed at adopting advanced Western weapons and
technology while leaving traditional Confucian values untouched. Bearing this in
mind, they then conducted reforms in diplomacy, military, education and

When someone thinks of a quest, they usually think of a prince saving a princess,
slaying a dragon, or going after the holy grail; However, a quest can happen to
anyone.
The real reason for a quest never involves the stated reason. In fact, more often than
not, the quester fails at the stated task. So why do they go and why do we care?
They go because of the stated task, mistakenly believing that it is their real mission.
We know, however, that their questis educational. They don t know enough about the
only subject that really matters: themselves. The real reason for a quest is always
self knowledge(

Falls,
The Women s Rights Convention took place in Seneca Falls, New York 1848. This
was the first ever women s rights convention in the United States, and with almost
200 women in attendance. This convention was organized by Lucretia Mott and
Elizabeth Kelly Stanton, who were both abolitionists that met at the 1840 World Anti
Slavery Convention in London. In 1848 at Elizabeth Stanton s home near Seneca
Falls, the two women, Mott and Stanton, were working with Martha Wright, Mary
Ann McClintock and Jane Hunt, to send out a call for a women s conference to be
held at Seneca Falls. On July 19, 1848, 200 women gathered at the Wesleyan Chapel.

Women began entering male dominated professions such as law, medicine, clergy
and corporate. Women also began to commence several new institutions. The
suffrage movement allowed for women to fix their place in society and take a
closer step to full equality of people in America. After the suffrage movement,
women s economic roles increased in society. Since there were now more
educational opportunities, it led more and more women to find and use their
potential for meaningful and professional careers. Women s salaries also increased
but not to the amount men had received. However, this was still a huge
achievement for women because it was such a huge step from what it had been
before. The resistance of giving women the right to vote began to cease when the
territorial legislature of Wyoming granted women the vote in 1869; it was the first
permanent suffrage law in U.S. history. By the 1890 s many states had granted
suffrage. By 1913 there were 12 states and the National Woman s Party, under
leadership of Alice Paul, decided to harness the voting power of women in those
states to push a suffrage resolution through congress. The country s involvement in
WWI needed the help of women; which then provided the suffragists their power.
When the U.S. entered the war in 1917, a woman s suffrage amendment was
submitted into the House of Representatives. By 1919, it was passed by both houses
