Should Genetically Modified Flar-Svr Tomatoes Be Available...
Investigation into Genetically Modified Flavr Savr Tomatoes, should they be available for human
consumption.
Technology has been advancing at an increasingly high rate; as a result scientists have used this
development to create genetically modified foods. Biotechnologies used to genetically modify
foods have contributed to the controversial statements, whether or not genetically modified foods
should be available for human consumption. Genetic Modified plants and foods such as the Flavr
Savr Tomato enhanced through the use of biotechnologies have sparked arguments in favour and
against. Those in favour consider that they are advantageous for humans, those against believe that

Conversely, The Flavr Savour tomato possesses supressed activity of the enzyme
polygalacturonase. The suppression contributes to the fruits ability to stay harder for longer
allowing it to stay on the vine. This suppression allows the tomato to develop its natural flavours
and ripen as it stays on the vine for a longer time period. This flavour saving process lead to the
products name The Flavr Savr .
The Flavr Savr tomato is created through the use of antisense gene technologies to decrease the
polygalacturonase activity. The kan(r) is a gene from the bacteria Escherichia coli, alongside with
the gene from the Flavr Savr tomato they are inserted into a plasmid that resembles a round ring of
DNA. These plasmids are further inserted into a group of normal tomato cells in a medium
growth that contains the kanamycin antibiotic Engel 7. This process produces the APH (3 ) II
substance that allows the cell to become resistant to the antibiotic. This process is used to identify
the genetically transformed genes. The gene of the Flavr Savr initially coded for a strand of
RNA, which was the reverse strand of RNA that occurs in a natural tomato plant. The original
RNA strand contains the enzyme polygalacturonase degrading the cell wall, making the fruit soft.
The RNA strand made from the Flavr Savr gene binds to the polygalacturonase RNA in a process
to cancel each other out as demonstrated in figure 1.
The antisense gene is a

Reflection On Photography Experience
Confirm the days and hours you can commit to.
I am currently fully available on weekdays and weekends, mornings and afternoons.
2. Detail your photographic experience.
I have over ten years photography experience, with six years in education (both at college and
degree level), as well commercially and also personally. I ve recently graduated from Manchester
School of Art with a 2:1 Ba (Hons) in Photography and rounded off my time there with successful
exhibitions in both Manchester (at the School of Art degree show) and Hoxton, London (as part
of the Post Silver Collective). The work shown at both exhibitions came from my most recent
body of work, Everyday Acts a project that explores the relationship between identity politics and
self presentation, with a focus on millennial feminism. Much of my personal work has been
made in response to questions around identity and experience and has enabled me to gain a
wealth of experience in collaborating with other creatives, models and members of the public.
Although it s aesthetic often differs from my commercial photography work, my personal
projects allow me to evolve my craft and gather skills which I can then translate into photographic
work as requested by clients. Photography is as much a part of my lifestyle as it is my job; being
an active member of the photographic community is of upmost important to me and I aim to
consume art as much as I produce it.
Commercially, I have a wealth of experience of experience in

The Importance Of Physical Literacy
A person s level of physical activity is directly related to their physical literacy making it an
extremely important topic. Canada s Active for Life Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD)
Model studies a variety of factors regarding the physical activity levels of Canadians. The topics
that are studied include, the relationship between physical literacyand exercisebehavior and
adherence, developmental age, sensitive periods, mental, cognitive, and emotional development,
competition, system alignment and integration, and continuous improvement. There are many
other resources for finding information regarding people s physical activity levels, including
Statistics Canada; this source has an array of figures, from the annual census, regarding the
populations of specific areas. For example, the Moncton, New Brunswick, 2016 census can be
used to determine exercise behavior and adherence among local residents by using the figures
presented along with other statistics from sources such as Weinberg and Gould s book Foundations
of Sport and Exercise Psychology. Physical literacy is defined as, the motivation, confidence,
physical competence, knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for
engagement in physical activities for life. The International Physical Literacy Association, May
2014 ( Physical Literacy , 2017). Another understanding of physical literacy is, it is the cornerstone
of both participation and excellence in physical activity and sport.

Physics of Aristotle Essay
The great Greek thinker Aristotle was born in 384 B.C. in Stagirus, a city in ancient Macedonia in
northern Greece. At the age of eighteen Aristotle went to Athens to begin his studies at Plato s
Academy. He stayed and studied at the Academy for nineteen years and in that time became both a
teacher and an independent researcher. After Plato s death in 347 B.C. Aristotlespent twelve years
traveling and living in various places around the Aegean Sea. It was during this time that Aristotle
was asked by Philip of Macedon to be a private tutor to his son, Alexander. Aristotle privately taught
Alexander for three years before he returned to Athens after Philip gained control of the Greek
capital. During this period back in Athens Aristotle... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Physics Aristotle deduces that there must be two main principles of change. These
principles are 1) matter and 2) form. Matter stays the same in general composition throughout
change much as a rock would stay the same even after being broken into several small pieces.
Form, however, is what changes through various processes.
In order to prevent an infinite regression of argument, Aristotle came up with the his famous idea of
the Prime Mover, which exists outside the earth somewhere in the heavens and is ultimately
responsible for all change on earth.
Aristotle s physics separated the universe into two main areas: the terrestrial realm and the celestial
realm. The terrestrial realm was composed of the four elements: earth, wind, water and fire, which
could each be either hot, wet, dry or cold, and the celestial realm made of ether, or what Aristotle
called the quintessence.
The basic assumption of Aristotelian physics was that the natural state of terrestrial matter is at
rest, and that earth air and water would continually strive to reach their natural place at the center
of the earth unless impeded by an impenetrable surface like the ground or a ceiling. He assumed
that the natural resting place of fire was somewhere above the earth but below the moon. this model
held that the complicated nature of the circulation of the air was a result of the conflict between
fire, which was trying to

The Death Of Jean Pierre Grumbach
Born in Paris in the middle of World War I, Jean Pierre Grumbach knew he wanted to be a
filmmaker at a very early age. After receiving a PathГ© Baby camera at the age of seven, he went
on to create the equivalent of thirty short movies in various formats for friends and family by the
time he turned twenty. His burgeoning career and dreams of being a filmdirector were interrupted
by Nazi Germany and the Second World War, but instead of evacuating to the United Kingdom he
stayed in his homeland and fought, wisely changing his last name to Melville after his favorite
author. Now a veteran of the Resistance in Nazi occupied France, Jean Pierre Melville later used
his love of filmmaking and American gangster movies, accompanied by his disdain for the
domineering French cinema establishment, to invent an entire genre of films and inspire an army
of young directors to ignore conventional methods and embrace their own creations in their own
unique ways.
THE ACCIDENTAL ICON
From the beginning, Melville caught the attention of audiences and critics with his hardboiled
crime noir films both in terms of storytelling and filming techniques. So much so that writers
coined a term for his films and those soon to follow by others directors as the French New
Wave, and Melville was the Godfather. Part of Melville s motivation for this new style was his
intense dissatisfaction with the imperious demands of the Director s Guild as he personally defined
the French New Wave as an

Shirley Jackson is most famous for her short story The Lottery and her novel The Haunted House .
She has been applauded for her fresh approach towards American Gothic writing. There are many
works dedicated to the gothic elements her stories contain. However, most critics overlooked the
feminist elements that most of her stories have. The two short stories discussed in this essay both
have female characters who are outsiders in their society. Careful examination of the protagonists
course of action, setting, and symbolic references Shirley Jacksonput in both of the stories shows
that the female protagonist in both The Lotteryand The Tooth should be considered as a woman

However, towards the end of the story Tessie transforms into a different woman once her family
is chosen. The next passage indicates Tessie s transformation when all of the sudden, Tessie
Hutchinson shouts to Mr. Summers, You didn t give him time enough to take any paper he
wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! (298). Her husband did not receive an honest treatment
according to Tessie, which will eventually lead to her downfall. Now that she is the victim, there
is a significant change in attitude towards the town and its tradition. She is no longer a good
natured woman who finds the lottery on great joke, instead, she stands up to this old tradition
and is more nervous and aggressive than ever before in the story. This is the complete opposite
of what we first saw of Tessie, a simple woman concerned more with her dishes than the lottery.
The character of Tessie, in the end of the story, is fully aware of the consequences of this same
lottery and she protests against the tradition which is so deeply rooted in her society. Because of
the first impression of Tessie the reader would have expected her to just shrug her shoulders,
instead Tessie does completely the opposite and stands up for her own rights. In The Tooth Clara

College Essay On Nursing Home
Nursing Homes During my sophomore year of high school, I joined a community service club.
One of the main activities that the club participated in was weekly visits to the local nursing
home; the club usually went on visits two times every week. At first, I was a little apprehensive to
join in on the weekly visits, as I had gone on a few nursing homevisits before through various
church activities and always felt a little uncomfortable. I had always deemed nursing homes as
being a place for elderly people while they were waiting to die. However, after going on several
nursing home visits with my community service club, I started to feel more comfortable and really
got to know the residents. As I came to know each resident, I realized that while they did not all
exactly wish to be in nursing home facility, most still felt like they had some living left to do.
Contrary to my original perception, they were not just laying around and waiting to die. Most of
them had become friends with the other residents and staff and loved the people in their little
community. Various conditions can cause an individual, usually an elderly person, to have to take
up residency in a nursing home. One of the most significant contributing factors is physical
limitations. As we have learned in previous biology and exercise science classes, as an individual
ages, his or her physical condition declines. Some individuals see a rate of decline faster than that
of other people in his or her same age

that will be remembered beyond far beyond any of the coast s Michelin starred restaurants.

How I Remember Squatting In The Dust Analysis
The narrator starts the story lamenting on her past. She mentions the miserable state she has
always lived in, bringing up what is assumed to be the Great Depression. Our narrator has
childhood memories set during the Great Depression, an event lasting a decade from the late
1920s to late 1930s. She states that she was fourteen approaching fifteen years old. The real
variable is how long after her anecdote does this story take place? She clearly expresses her
dislike for the conditions in which she grew up. She makes several comments on how herself and
the black workers of rural Maryland would be treated today. Probably written about and studied
like a new species, when their state of poverty and suffering was nothing new. The almost cynical
voice used gives the impression... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her diction is one of an educated adult, or at least a well spoken college student. She uses strong
imagery when describing her hometown. She goes into great detail in describing not only the
look of the setting, but the mood as well. Her recollections of the past that directly involve the
main story are short, but help build the world in which the story is being told. In paragraph eight
Elizabeth says I remember squatting in the road drawing a picture in the dust, a picture which
Joey gleefully erased with one sweep of his dirty foot. I remember fishing for minnows in a
muddy creek and watching sadly as they eluded my cupped hands, while Joey laughed
uproariously as she remembers the past. This is more than painting a picture for the audience. She
uses physical descriptions as well as conveying the setting through memories. You can almost feel
her nostalgia for her younger innocent days through the words. The memories described here are
short, but give us examples of joy in her youth. Juxtaposed to her other tellings of her childhood
which seem mostly

Sacco And Vanzetti Case Essay

between the end of WW1 and the commencement of the Great Depression (Alchin). During this
time, the United States prospered there were new automobiles, fashion styles, and music styles.
The Golden Twenties was very similar to the Roaring Twenties. During the Golden Twenties,
there were social and economic reforms, artistic expressions, Berlin s Recovery, and the Women s

America, the Red Scare was not. The Red Scare was the name given to the period of anti radical

(Log) Many do not believe that Sacco and Vanzettihad a fair trial. The Sacco and Vanzetti trial has
a bunch of controversy behind it. The Sacco and Vanzetti Case has always been treated as one,
but in reality, the two should have had an opportunity to serve the trial together and if the two
feel as if justice was not served, then they should have been able to have separate trials. Before
being executed, Vanzetti left the courtroom with In all my life I have never stole, never killed
never spilled blood.... We were tried during a time ... when there was hysteria of resentment and
hate against the people of our principles, against the foreigner.... I am suffering because I am a
radical and indeed I am a radical; I have suffered because I was an Italian and indeed I am an
Italian.... If you could execute me two times, and if I could be reborn two other times, I would
live again to do what I have done already (Danzer 414). This quote shows that Vanzetti is
innocent. Moore did his best to turn Sacco and Vanzetti into archetypal working men with whom
he hoped large segments of the blue collar community might identify. He even tried to arouse
international interest in the case, especially in Italy. The tactics showed early signs of working.
Groups such as the New England Civil Liberties Union soon joined the fight, sending to its
supporters a letter declaring that the evidence against Sacco and Vanzetti was unsubstantial and
that they were being prosecuted merely because they were foreigners and are active and influential
radicals. (User) This quote shows how the defense attorney blames the prosecution on their race. In
one article it says Moore alleged that Proctor testified that he found Bullet 3 consistent with having
been fired from Sacco s Colt despite having confided earlier to District Attorney Katzmann that he
did not believe Bullet 3 came from the defendant s gun. Judge Thayer

Understanding The Consumers Buying Behavior
Understanding the consumers buying behaviour is a complicated but essential task for all
marketing managements. It is vital to understand how people make purchase decisions and what
drives them to buy one specific product and no other. According to Kotler et al. (2013) consumer
buyer behaviour refers to the buying behaviour of final consumers individuals and households that
buy goods and services for personal consumption. It may be a costly and time consuming task to
find out what, when, where and how customers buy but in the end it is just a question of effort to
be able to study these issues. But finding out about the actual reasons, why consumers make
specific purchases, is far more difficult because the answers to this question... Show more content

Responses are influenced by a person s attitudes, motivations, knowledge and more and can be
presented in purchase preferences, purchase behaviour or brand loyalty. The individual buyer
characteristics have a huge impact on final purchase decisions. Cultural, social, personal and
psychological factors all affect characteristics of a consumer. The culture a person grows up in is
the most basic cause of a person s wants and behaviour. Growing up in a specific environment
teaches us core life rules, values, perceptions and behaviour within the society. Decisions will be
based on the learned perceptions and life interpretation. For marketers it is crucial to know the
cultural background of their market and to spot developments to be able to meet the changing
needs of their target market. For example years ago the trend towards health and fitness opened a
whole new industry sector to push into. (Kotler et al., 2013) In football the original fans basically
originated from the working class but the consumers nowadays come from many different cultures,
subcultures and social classes. Football clubs have to take these changes into account in order to
serve the consumers with the right product. Therefore adaptions had to be made to meet the needs
of the new growing audience coming from the middle and upper class. To attract middleclass

As a founding member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Australia has always endeavored
to further the cause of free and fair global trade. This goal is aligned with the fundamental
principles that are embodied by the WTO such as non discrimination between trade partners and

Indeed, it has established the normative legal framework for multilateral trade in the four corners of
the globe. As Matsushita notes The WTO is the first international organization to bring about the

mechanism . The over 300 hundred decision by the dispute settlement mechanism on various cases
establishes an important corpus of legal precedent that serves as a frame of reference for the
negotiation of Bilateral and Regional Trade Agreements. As a result, the fundamental principles
underlying the WTO agreements, such as the MFN and National Treatment (NT) are here to stay

instituted the value system of free trade worldwide, such that the majority of the globe believes in
trade liberalization and is willing to open up their economies to participate in free trade. Moreover,
by creating a common trade language that almost every country understands, it has only made
trading that much easier to negotiate. The existing agreements also provide a solid foundation for

The older you get the more medical problems you have. The older you get the more you body
starts to break down. That s why it is so important to maintain a healthy life style while you are
growing. If you didn t take care of your body while you was young it will be hard to maintain
good health when you are older. Eating the right foods, staying active, and taking vitamins are
three simple steps to keeping the body in good shape. When you are young you do want to live in

Milk Fat Experiment
Title: What was the Effect of Temperature on Butter Yield?
Purpose:
The purpose was to determine if temperature has a direct effect on the formation of milk fat, and
whether or not it effected the yield.
Background Information:
Milk Fat, more commonly known as butter, is comprised of different fats, specifically triglycerides.
When using organic, unpasteurized milk, one will notice after sitting stagnant for a number of
hours, the milk will start to separate within itself, with clumps of fat collecting at the bottom. This
is because milk is an emulsion. An emulsion is a suspension two liquids within each other that
would not naturally mix. (Kitchn, 2008) Another example of an emulsion is water in oil. These
liquids can be physically mixed together, with a spoon or utensil, and they will appear mixed, but
overtime they will resume their separated state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This works through creating a weak chemical bond between the butter and water, thus keeping the
milk well homogenized. However, this chemical bond can easily be broken through agitation to the
solution, like shaking, or stirring.
When making butter, Heavy Cream is shaken or stirred until a solid precipitate is formed. The solid
precipitate is the butter, and the liquid is the butter milk. Through physical agitation, the chemical
bonds that the emulsion agent added to the mixture, has been broken, and the fat and water have
separated, which results in butter.
This separation occurs due to physical force is being exerted onto the phospholipid layer that
surrounds the triglycerides. Through the physical agitation, the phospholipid layer begins to break
apart, and it causes the triglycerides to bond together, which creates a solid mass of fat, which we
refer to as

College Is An American Writer
All humans come to a point on whether or not they would like to attend college. College is a
step one takes to further their education in the pursuit of having a career. But is that the only
reason why someone would really choose to go to college? Choosing to become part of a huge or
small community that holds a lot responsibilities is big decision one must think thoroughly about.
They must have a purpose behind it for its rare to see someone say I want to go to collegejust
because I want. Louis Menand, an American writer, has addressed this question with the three
most common theories as to why someone would decide to go to college. His theories will show
the different perspectives upon the arrival of choosing to attend college which will lead to what I
find very convincing from them all.
We go to college to spend four years of our lives and thousands of money on the school, yet we
never ask ourselves why we choose to attend college. Menand developed three reasons as to why
people may choose to go to college; meritocratic, democratic, and vocational. These theories arose
when asked a simply, yet very intellectual question, Why did we have to buy this book? (Menand
pp. 1). Theory one beliefs that only the intelligent ones are able to attend this four year university.
The education given in college is help progress the society we live in. In order for that to happen,

Maria Rowe 2 Ski Stores Case Study
This case was about Maria Howe, a ski enthusiast and owner of Howe 2 Ski stores, who opened
this store after graduation from college. Howe 2 Ski Stores is a chain of three ski and
snowboarding shops located in the suburbs of a large eastern city. (Nkomo et al., 2011, p. 202)
She started this store because she wanted to own a store that was full of state of the art equipment
and clothing for skiers. Her whole purpose was to have employees be students with expertise in
the sport. After opening this store, business grew and she ended up opening a couple more stores,
with one focusing on snowboarding. However, after opening these two more stores, her staff took a

Her employees took a turn for the worse by not performing to standards. To help Maria, one
solution would be to profit share, which can be a decent framework to remunerate and inspire

Hijacked by Pinterest
Really? Not again. I ve been hijacked. I ve just spent three hours on Pinterest searching for a new
recipe for dinner. I don t know if I should be ashamed or excited. I did find a pretty amazing
recipe for roasted red pepper Alfredo though. However, I did just lose three hours of my time. I
could of finished various tasks in those three hours. I ll be the first one to admit it: smart
technology is making me dumb. People like me rely on smart technology for too many things:
phone books, directions, new information, etc. Soon people will depend on it for everything. I
believe smart technology will hijack our lives.
Many daily chores are completed by the use of smart technology. For example, smart technology
can be used for: setting an alarm clock, making phone calls, balancing a bank account, paying
bills, checking e mails, doing homework, getting directions, etc. Many people take advantage of
this. They may use their laptop, iPad, cellphone up to ten times a day to complete these tasks. I ll
admit it, I have a favorite app myself. Pinterest! I ll lose hours on end getting lost in the app.
However, smart technology does have better uses. Henry Ford community college student, Shandra
Dicks, found a useful way to use smart technology. Dicks, loves to spend her spare time running.
She also likes to keep track of her progress from day to day. Dicks, started using the Nike Sensor; a

The collapse of communism in the USSR and Central and Eastern Europe
Before we move on to our essay on to analyse The Collapse of Communism in USSR and Central
and Eastern Europe and the reasons behind its collapse, we should discuss and understand the
definition of Communism.
Communism is a social system in which all the resources, economic activities are owned by state or
country.
It is a system in which wealth is dispersed equally among the people and there is no private
ownership of the resources and wealth. The state owns and controls resources and property. Soviet
model of communism was based on these ideals, all the opposition parties were banned only who
shared the communist ideals were allowed. Complete power was into the hands of the Communist
party. In 1917, the Soviet Union witnessed the Bolshevik Revolution which overthrew the czarism
and a communist state was born. The Central and Eastern Europe nations followed USSR and
adopted communism, with their leaders directly under the command and control of the Soviet
Union. Communism was doomed from the start due to the moral weakness of human mankind and
the corruption of its leaders. The first reason which played role in the failure and collapse of
communism was the fact that the Communist party s domination was illegitimate from the
beginning. Eastern European countries did the revolution have the support of more than a minority
of people, yet this minority retained absolute control. The communist

The Literature On Equality Dated Back Long Ago
The literature on equality dated back long ago and was more of a statistical issue prior to Rawls
philosophical contribution. The Rawlsian philosophy was based on providing justice beyond
maximizing the civil liberties. His idea difference principle was to make people equal by having
a set of institutions that allocate the worst off individuals the maximum level of primary goods .
He viewed, in this regard, primary goods as the goods necessary for the success of any life plan
and hence ensuring an equal primary good bundles is a way of making a person responsible for
his life plan choice. The other philosophers like Jensen (1969) and Herrenstein (1971) deduced in
their papers that the existence of inequalityis due to differential intelligence of the individuals and
hence rendering the society an equal income distribution is merely an imagination. Their views
were contradicted by the other thinkers like Bowles (1973) and Colinsk (1974) who thought of the
inequality as an outcome of unequal opportunity. However, it was Dworkin (1981), Arneson (1989)
or Cohen (1989) who introduced the personal responsibilityinto the literature on equality. Dworkin
(1981 a,b) argued about how lack of internal resources can be overcome by external wealth
distribution and introduced responsibility into achieving the equality in the society. Unlike Rawls,
Dworkin emphasized on preferences instead of primary goods and showed that preferences of
individuals matter into the welfare

Who Is Responsible For Edgar Allan Poe s Death
ВЁLord, help my poor soul.ВЁ On October 17, 1849, Joseph W. Walker found Edgar Allan Poe

a mystery. Many conspiracy theories surround EAPВґs death. One of the most common theories is
that he died of consuming too much alcohol. Although, It s been 168 years since EAP died, but no
one has been able to solve the mystery of his death. The theory that he died of drinking sounds
right to many people because it has some background to it. EAP started drinking at a very early
stage of life because of everything happening around him. He started drinking because he wanted
to take some time not thinking about his horrible past. His drinking even got worse after his wife,

Chapter 15: Crucible of Freedom: Civil War, 1861 1865 Both North and South were ill prepared
for war in 1861. Initially dependent on volunteers, the Confederacy established a draft in 1862, and
the Union did so the following year. At first the South relied on imported arms and munitions but
soon was able to produce its own. It had more trouble with clothing and food throughout the
duration of the war. Financing the war was also a problem. Americans had been unaccustomed to
paying taxes to the national government, but both sides had to end the tradition of hard money and
minimal government by raising taxes, issuing war bonds, and printing paper money. Inflation was
serious in the North and devastating in the South by 1865. The... Show more content on

In the Sea Islands, black refugees took advantage of temporary reallocation of former plantation
lands to form their own communities. By 1863 both sides were experiencing labor shortages,
inflation, and dissension. With its superior resources, the Union met the challenge more
effectively. Although the cotton textile industry in the North was hurt, industries directly
related to the war effort arms manufacture, ready made clothing, and railroads flourished. The
Republicans in Congress were able to act on their idea of free soil, free labor, free men and
passed the Homestead Act and the Morrill Land Grant Act. Nevertheless, workers suffered during
the war as wages lagged 20 percent or more behind price increases. The Southern economy was
totally shattered by the war, as railroads were torn up, food growing regions were occupied by
Union troops, and planters continued to try to raise cotton crops. Southern women were forced to
revive home production of goods in short supply, but even that was hard to do as Union invasions
turned women and children into refugees. As the war went on, dissent became a problem on both
sides. In the North Peace Democrats, known as Copperheads, contributed to the volatile brew of
political, ethnic, racial, and class antagonism that erupted into antidraft protests in several cities.

Good Management Strategy
Internal and External Factors Paper
Around the globe organization rely on strong management principles to move forward and a
strategy which would lead the way forward. This strategy is mostly based on the core functions of
management. A good management strategy requires setting clear objectives which are worked
towards by utilizing best practices, implementing policies and making use of all available resources.
Success is imperative to strong management functions which include: Planning, organizing, leading
and controlling. For a business to achieve success, management must need to define clear paths for
all these functions yet ensuring all the internal and external factors influencing the business are
dealt with effectively. The decision making process also largely depends on these internal and
external factors like globalization, technology, innovation, diversity and ethics.
External factors
As Wal Mart stores begin to grow by numbers all across USA, the choice of locality also became a
point of concern for the management. Presence of Wal Mart centers in modest vicinities meant
more challenges for the organization. Such kind of external challenge can affect all four functions
of management planning. Attention to small details was the key in this situation, by doing the
basics right and making critical changes to the projects, was the success factor.
Concentrating on the four management function, it brings front a number of answers to the

Theory Of Reasoned Action
2.5.1Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA)
Theory of Reasoned Action is a model for prediction of behavioral intention spanning prediction of
attitudes and normative beliefs (Southey, 2011; Pai Huang, 2011). This theory has been used by
researchers for technology adoption studies (Southey, 2011). The theory has developed by Martin
Fishbein and Icek Ajzen (1975, 1980). Sadeghi and Farokhian (2011) stated, according to this
theory, attitudes towards the behavior and subjective norms influence individual s intent to adopt
an innovation. Following equation shows clearly the association of these two factors.

According to this theory, it implies that individual s behaviors are within a person s control and
their actual behavior is foreseen by their behavioral intention. Further, theory shows that two factors
of attitude towards the behavior and beliefs which are related to other people s assistance of
behavior determine the individual intention. However, theory does not give any evidence related to
people s culture and trust how affects the user behavior.

The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) is a theory about the link between beliefs and behavior.

I believe in God, only I spell it nature. On June 8, 1867, Frank Lloyd Wright was born in Richland
Centre, Wisconsin. His father, William Carey Wright, was a preacher and his mother, Anna
Lloyd Jones, was a teacher. Wright grew up in Madison, Wisconsin for the majority of his
childhood. He would work on his uncle s farm during the summers; where he developed his deep
appreciation for nature. Wright would preach the importance of organic architecture and building
within nature. No house should ever be on a hill or on anything. It should be of the hill.
Belonging to it. Hill and house should live together each happier for the other. To some
individuals he was a social rebel; Wright had many controversial political views were shunned by
the public and he was famous for his unrelenting demeanor. However, no individual could argue
Wright s architectural expertise. Among all of Wright s appealing designs, the most notable
designs were his Prairie style designs and his Usonian designs. Frank Lloyd Wright, was one of the
most famous American architects in the world and the greatest architect of the twentieth century.
Wright s continuous contribution towards the history of architecture and the world of architecture

Nazi Symbolism In Sylvia Plath s Daddy
The whole point of the poem Daddy is Sylvia Plath showing her emotions of how drained she felt
from losing her father at a young age and how one death affected her whole life. The use of Nazi
symbolism can be confusing, but plays a huge part in understanding the full meaning of what
Plath was portraying. The use of intense imagery shows a story of Plath s deepest emotions. The
story Plath is describing is showing the reader her extreme depression and every big moment in her
life that hurt her more and more. One could describe the poem Daddyas a collection of Plath s most
depressive memories in her life.
Most or at least some may think this poem is about a girl who loses her father at a young age in
a concentration camp due to the poor living conditions. I was one of those people thinking that
was the case leading her to lose faith in God, much like how the Jews and others in concentration
camps lost their faith in God. It can be easy to come to this realization because of her use of Nazi
symbolism in the poem. That symbolism makes it hard for one to see that she is not literally in
a concentration camp, but feels as though she is figuratively in a concentration camp. When you
figure this out you can tell she uses the Nazi symbolism to describe how broken inside she felt as
did the people in the concentration camps felt. She feels so broken because she loses her father
at just 8 years old. A very reasonable and most likely action for a child that age is to tumble into
a deep spiral of depression. Plath herself falls victim to this deep confusion and more so
depression. A death of a loved one at that young of an age is already hard enough on an 8 year
old, let alone it being her father. Her father being someone she looked up to and loved so greatly,
perhaps even more than anyone, making the death even harder for her to bare. When you look
deeper into her father s death with research you can tell he died in boston and not a concentration
camp. This fact proving their family was not in a concentration camp and Plath was using the Nazi
symbolism to describe her feelings on the untimely death and how she felt wronged by the world.
Her father s death is where you can start to see Plath not understanding why

FIGHTING A WAR AT HOME AND ABROAD OSCAR AGUILAR CYPRESS COLLEGE
PROFESSOR JOSE M. ZAMORA May 12, 2015 Introduction World War II was a pivotal moment
in U.S history for men and women of all colors. Years of hatred and violence were now going to
be over looked by racial groups in order to fight against an overseas enemy. Racial groups
contributed to the war effort despite having their civil rights violated, oppressed and even
removed. Segregation during this period of war was very much alive for these racial groups.

All these were obstacles that needed to be overcome. Leaders from all four racial groups would
fight the war back home against the U.S government, while Soldiers from all four racial groups
fought the war overseas. The man power that these racial groups brought to the table was a key
factor in eventually helping the allies win the war and back home the government noticed how
valuable this was. Racial tensions would eventually be less of a problem because the more time
white men spent with a racial group of people the more they felt at ease with racial integration.
The Native American Fighting Spirit Native Americans played a big role during World War II.
They either enlisted voluntarily or worked at the many war plants (The Role of Native
Americans, 2013). Unlike the Indian removal act of 1830, this large scale removal of Indians was
by choice. It signified that the Native Americans would change their culture in order to support the
war effort. On the home front Native Americans participated in many projects that directly
supported the war overseas. For example an estimated 2,500 Navajos participated in the
construction of the Ft. Wingate Ordnance Depot in New Mexico (The Role of Native Americans,
2013). While many Native Americans decided to stay in the reservations where poverty was
common, others took advantage of the war time

whether female, male, teen,child, adult, or elder. The effects can range from depression to suicide;
however, help is available for coping. First of all Suicide yes, suicideit s a very touchy subject for
most people, but sexual Harassment can play a role in it. Suicide is a major effect and the most
common effect of sexual harassment victims. A study found that 23 percent of students had
experienced at least one incident of unwanted sexual touching, sexual threats or remarks, or
indecent exposure in the past six months. Of women who had experienced frequent, unwanted
sexual touching, 15 percent said they had made suicide attempts often in the past six months,
compared with 2 percent of students that had not experienced sexual harassment.(Rettner) An

The Benefits Of STEM Classes
So how can we help students to be more prepared for college? One way is to help encourage
students to pursue STEM careers. Doesn t AP classes already do that for students already? One
study done by Joseph Rosenstein shows that we are actually making too big of a rush for students
to take AP classes. They studied this with one AP class, Calculus. They claim that students, for the
most part, are not using the AP class to assist them in college. So one method to help students
prepare for college is to actually decelerate the amount of AP classes they re taking. Their study
showed that 40% of students that qualify for college credit (6.25% of all students that take the AP

career because the trips made them more engaged, intellectually curious and interested in and

and for students pursuing the STEM field would be more interested as well. I believe that
conducting more field trips would assist students to becoming more successful. Because with
the previous study of AP courses, they don t fulfill the jobs in the STEM field, so doing this by
making students much more aware and involved in the STEM field would encourage them more
to pursue that field. Even if the school can t afford to go on field trips all the time, they can still

class. Which I believe will take less money, time, and effort to plan and execute. How will this
help the STEM field? I believe doing more field trips and also having more guest speakers come
in will want more students to pursue the STEM field. The STEM field as a whole is growing
rapidly, and we will need more students and more people to fulfill those positions. So how will
this help the students when they go to college? How will these activities help the students more
than what a rigorous, AP course can do? As I have said before, the main problem comes from the
students lack of understanding of how the field

The Crusades Dbq
For many years, holy wars had been fought by Christians all across Europe against the impeding
forces of neighboring Muslims. These wars were called the Crusades and for decades upon
centuries, thousands of lives had been lost on both the Christian and Muslim fronts. Historically
speaking, there were approximately nine crusadeswaged upon the Muslims to stop them from
encroaching further on European territory, but most of these Crusades were unsuccessful with the
advent of strong Muslim empires. Empires such as the Abbasid, the Fatimid, and the Ottoman all
had advanced technology with the advent of gunpowder and canons; they were unstoppable and
continued to conquer lands up to Vienna and Austria. The main goal of the Crusades was to take
back the Holy land of Jerusalem, a sacred site to all people of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam
and to fight against the unbeilivers (Spielvogel, 329). Each of the three religions held claims
about the significance of the city and the surrounding area, relating back to their respective
prophets, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed, respectively. Christians joined the crusader expeditions
for several reasons: for the glory of spreading their religion, for the spoils of war, and for preventing
any progression of Islam.

Looking from an impartial, unbiased perspective, both fronts committed war on each other and lost
many men. Muslims had led a flourishing empire that encompassed all three Abrahamic faiths and
many others outside the prized area of the Levant. On the other hand, Christians did not facilitate
such a welcoming environment for Muslims and Jews in their territories. Dictatorial powers arose
within Christian leaders called for an outright slaughtering of the heretics. Ultimately, the crusades
were a failure and did not achieve the main goal of securing the Holy land for the

Dorian Gray Decay
Living in a world to full of the appearance and stereotype of being beautiful can completely
destroy one s self esteem, and even their own life. In Oscar Wilde s novel, The Picture of Dorian
Gray, he uncovers how curiosity, hypocrisy, and vanity lead someone into their own demise. By
looking at Dorian Gray s actions that revolve around beauty, it is evident that vanity is the largest
contributing factor in Dorian s corruption and subsequent downfall, thus demonstrating how
focusing on only one aspect of life can lead to immorality and decay of character. The decay of
Dorian s character begins with his initial meeting of Lord Henry, where he speaks at length of
how Dorian is not yet living because he has yet to experience life s pleasures. Lord... Show more

Dorian Gray gets caught up in the idea of being beautiful and how it can allow an individual to
surpass any situation because beauty goes unquestioned. Due to the naive approach that Dorian
takes, he ends up losing his character along the way and forgetting what truly matters in life.
Focusing on only one aspect in life leads individuals to become self absorbed and forget how the
world does not revolve around he or she because every person s actions, later affects someone else s

Syrian Revolution Research Paper
Despite its reputation for almost anarchism like conditions, Syria is a complex country with an
interesting history and government affairs.
The country we know today was not always known as Syria . The beginning is thought to be
when Prince Faisal captured Damascus in 1918. In 1920, France enforces the Sykes Pico treaty,
removing Faisal from power and claiming Syria and surrounding areas. Riots by the citizens
wanting to escape French rule eventually cause their oppressors to withdraw, and after WWII, all
of the French were gone. Michel Aflaq and Salah al Din al Bitar founded the Arab Socialist Baath
Party in 1947. This was disbanded between 1949 1952. Army officers then rebel, bringing back a
civilian government and electing a veteran ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Concern over the joining of ISIS has also caused extreme measures to be taken, such as banning
burqas because of fears that they will encourage students to join the extremists. Most citizens hate
the government due to the torture of 15 schoolchildren who were writing graffiti on the wall back
in 2011, and the government s reaction to the protests.
Syria is a small country bordered by Iraq, Turkey, Jordan, Israel, and Lebanon. The majority of the
Western side of the country is bordered by the Mediterranean sea. Most of the land is dry and
dusty, with gigantic sand dunes and flat terrain due to the Syrian desert covering most of the
country. However, there are oases present. There are two mountain ranges in the 71,998 mile
country (which also has the Euphrates river in its borders): The Anti Lebanon Mountains and abal
an Nusayriyah.
Syria s population consists of 230,018,387 individuals as of January 1st of 2015. 35.2% are
under 15, 61% are between 15 and 64, and 3.8% are over 64. More than 4 million refugees have
fled the country since 2011. 86% of adults (15+) can read as of 2013. 90.3% are Arabs, and 9.7%
are other ethnicities (Kurds, Armenians, etc.) Arabic is the national language, although Kurdish,
Armenian, and Aramaic are also spoken. 57.7% live in Urban areas. 4% of children are used in

Purgatorio Essay
Purgatorio
Perhaps the best place to begin a consideration of Purgatorio is not its beginning but its middle. In
cantos 16 18, the central three of this the central canticle, we learn about love and free will,
perhaps the two principles most important to an understanding of the whole of the Comedy.
Because our modern novelistic tradition of structure has led us to expect our plots to be arranged
climactically, we tend to find this kind of geometric construction artificial and surprising, even
though the practice was fairly common in medieval literature. Dante had himself already
experimented with this kind of structure in La Vita Nuova. La Chanson of Roland, to cite another
well known example, seems by our standards to drag on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this to be comprehensible, we must understand that Dante considers instinct a form of love,
natural or animal love, which can never be sinful. A second kind of love, however, mind directed
love, can fail in one of three ways and so be sinful, and in explaining this Virgil also explains the
way the central portion of Purgatorio is structured around the concept of the seven deadly sins. One
can go wrong by loving things one should not, (pride, envy, and anger), by loving what one should
love, but with insufficient intensity (sloth) or by loving as ends in themselves things that one
should love only in proper relationship to primary ends. In indulging these impulses, therefore, and
so committing sins, one is motivated by a species of love.
In canto 18, however, Dante pursues the relationship between free will and love one step further.
If love is a powerful force innate in each individual, what merit is there in loving good or blame
in loving ill? The answer is that Reason must surely guard the threshold of consent, for only with
full consent of the will can a soul be held guilty of sin. Traditional medieval psychology held that
sin involved three steps: attraction, delectation or delight, and consent. One perceives with the
senses something to which one is attracted and then forms within the mind an image of the object
of attraction in which to take delight. These two actions, the attraction or perception and the taking

Immaterial Qualities in Richard III
In modern day society, many individuals do not believe that supernatural or immaterial qualities
could play such a tremendous role in everyday life. However, in early British times, the citizens
considered it normal to see supernatural aspects holding significant importance. Although William
Shakespeare was not entirely historically accurate when crafting his play Richard III, he attempted
to maintain the root structure of this period. Shakespeare uses many immaterial qualities including
curses, dreams, ghosts, and time to not only foreshadow a myriad of critical events but also to
emphasize Richard s avarice.
One of the most salient supernatural aspects used throughout Richard III was the idea of curses
and prophecies. Shakespeare used expletives throughout Richard III not only to foreshadow the
impending doom of characters but also to help the reader follow the complicated plot line. Queen
Margaret cast one of the most significant curses from the play declaring, Cancel his bond of life
dear God, I plead. That I may live and to say, The dog is dead (Shakespeare 270). As a result of
Richard s murderous scheme to expunge Edward, Margaret curses Richard s life and insists he will
die soon, as a result of the curse and his horrible deed. To the reader s surprise, Margaret s curse is
fulfilled as Richmond kills Richard in battle at the end of the play. ... Show more content on

Sudoku puzzles are created with the intent of being solved by human players with pencil, however
as with many things they can be solved much faster with computers. The layout of a Sudoku
puzzle comprises of nine rows and nine columns which make up eighty one total squares. Sudoku
puzzles have nine non overlying zones each consisting of three grid rows and three grid columns,
or nine total grids. In each of these zones all of the numbers must be unique (numbered one nine).
On a similar note, each number in a row or column must be unique (one nine) . Players must use
deduction and reasoning to solve these puzzles without making a mistake to arrive at the solution.

The vector is used to hold the possible options for each square of the puzzle. After the contents
are copied into the three dimensional matrix it pushes back each of the available options onto
each vector. If there is already a space with a confirmed number in it the vector has the number 1
pushed back which signifies that this is box is confirmed and does require changes. In addition
if there is only one element in the vector (not including negative one) then the value of the
element is given to the square. After the number is confirmed every element in the row, column
and the box is check to see if the number confirmed is an option for any of these, if so it is
deleted. After a number is confirmed then the algorithm starts back over from the first element and
attempts to make further deductions with the new information. The figure to the right shows how
this process would work. The algorithm starts on the first element and goes row by row until it
finds the 7th element with only the option of 5. It then inserts 5 into the value in the two by two
matrix and checks every element in the same row, column and box to see if it has the option of 5,
while doing this it deletes the option of 5 from the 3rd elements option vector and starts again from
the first element. Then it finds that the 3rd element only has one option of 9, and repeats the

My Philosophy Of Small Groups Essay
Introduction Over the years, many models have been developed and implemented to endeavor to
make disciples. Some of the models have been effective and others have not. Among some of the
most biblical and efficient models are the ones that involve small groups. Within the small groups
models, they can be broken down into further detail, such as pastoral involvement, the church s
goal, missions mindedness, etc. In this paper, I will explain my philosophy of small groups in a
church and the importance of the relational group in authentic disciple making. I will also explain
how missional groups can help the body of Christ move out into the community. Finally, I will
summarize my status in regards to living in community with other believers and being missional
with that community. My Philosophy of Small Groups My personal philosophy of small groups is
scriptural based. Acts 2:46 says, And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and
breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart. As the
original church began, it is obvious from Acts chapter two and particularly from verse 46 that the
church met in unity in large groups. They actually used a two fold approach of meeting in large
group meetings and then in the homes for more intimate small group gatherings. Acts 2:46 clearly
shows the church gathering in homes, eating together, and continuing the work of the ministry.
Effective ministry is connecting with both God

Minority Report Response

police utilize a psychic technology to arrest and convict murderers before they commit their
crime. Tom Cruise is head of the precrime unit and was accused of killing someone he hasn t

teachers will be using a lot more technology with teaching kids. I also think kids will start using
technology at a young age than we all did because there already starting to do that. Cell phones
will for sure be more advanced than they already our hopefully. The technology presented in

it better. The stuff you do on your free time will probably be more fun also if it involves
technology. We are probably going to be able to get places faster also. The technology presented

The Wiz Play Analysis
In December, I watched the televised play of The Wiz, that aired on NBC. While I have mixed
emotions about this play, itself, I have a better appreciation and understanding about how a play
should be presented now that I have researched the history of american musical theatre, and that is
unity of the story being told, thru song, dance, and performance.
American Musical Theatre is a form of art that tells a story through songs, dialogue, acting and
dance. The different types of musicals includes ballad opera, operetta, musical comedy, straight
musical, rock musical, vaudeville, and burlesque.
Opera is a type of drama that was entirely sung. Madame Butterfly is an example of an opera. An

separating the musical from the musical comedy. The two major branches of the american musical
theatre are the musical play and musical comedy. Rodgers and Hammerstein, creators of Oklahoma,
became the most important contributors to the musical play form. They produced more plays that
had social thought that led the way for others to follow. Rodgers and Hammerstein recognized the
struggle in America and elsewhere for minorities civil rights had grown, they and many other
creators used the musicals to try and normalize social toleration and urged racial harmony with
works like Finian s Rainbow and South Pacific. As a theme, tolerance, has continued to be an

Technology has been advancing at an increasingly high rate; as a result scientists have used this development to create genetically modified foods. Biotechnologies used to genetically modify foods have contributed to the controversial statements, whether or not genetically modified foods should be available for human consumption. Conversely, The Flavr Savour tomato possesses supressed activity of the enzyme polygalacturonase. The suppression contributes to the fruits ability to stay harder for longer allowing it to stay on the vine. This suppression allows the tomato to develop its natural flavours and ripen as it stays on the vine for a longer time period. This flavour saving process lead to the products name The Flavr Savr . The Flavr Savr tomato is created through the use of antisense gene technologies to decrease the polygalacturonase activity. The kan(r) is a gene from the bacteria Escherichia coli, alongside with the gene from the Flavr Savr tomato they are inserted into a plasmid that resembles a round ring of DNA. These plasmids are further inserted into a group of normal tomato cells in a medium growth that contains the kanamycin antibiotic Engel 7. This process produces the APH (3 ) II substance that allows the cell to become resistant to the antibiotic. This process is used to identify the genetically transformed genes. The gene of the Flavr Savr initially coded for a strand of RNA, which was the reverse strand of RNA that occurs in a natural tomato plant. The original RNA strand contains the enzyme polygalacturonase degrading the cell wall, making the fruit soft. The RNA strand made from the Flavr Savr gene binds to the polygalacturonase RNA in a process to cancel each other out as demonstrated in figure 1. The antisense gene is a ... Detail your photographic experience. I have over ten years photography experience, with six years in education (both at college and degree level), as well commercially and also personally. I ve recently graduated from Manchester School of Art with a 2:1 Ba (Hons) in Photography and rounded off my time there with successful exhibitions in both Manchester (at the School of Art degree show) and Hoxton, London (as part of the Post Silver Collective). The work shown at both exhibitions came from my most recent body of work, Everyday Acts a project that explores the relationship between identity politics and self presentation, with a focus on millennial feminism. Much of my personal work has been made in response to questions around identity and experience and has enabled me to gain a wealth of experience in collaborating with other creatives, models and members of the public. Although it s aesthetic often differs from my commercial photography work, my personal projects allow me to evolve my craft and gather skills which I can then translate into photographic work as requested by clients. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Physics Aristotle deduces that there must be two main principles of change. These principles are 1) matter and 2) form. Matter stays the same in general composition throughout change much as a rock would stay the same even after being broken into several small pieces. Form, however, is what changes through various processes. In order to prevent an infinite regression of argument, Aristotle came up with the his famous idea of the Prime Mover, which exists outside the earth somewhere in the heavens and is ultimately responsible for all change on earth. Aristotle s physics separated the universe into two main areas: the terrestrial realm and the celestial realm. The terrestrial realm was composed of the four elements: earth, wind, water and fire, which could each be either hot, wet, dry or cold, and the celestial realm made of ether, or what Aristotle called the quintessence. The basic assumption of Aristotelian physics was that the natural state of terrestrial matter is at rest, and that earth air and water would continually strive to reach their natural place at the center of the earth unless impeded by an impenetrable surface like the ground or a ceiling. He assumed that the natural resting place of fire was somewhere above the earth but below the moon. this model held that the complicated nature of the circulation of the air was a result of the conflict between fire, which was trying to ... • 8. The Death Of Jean Pierre Grumbach Born in Paris in the middle of World War I, Jean Pierre Grumbach knew he wanted to be a filmmaker at a very early age. After receiving a PathГ© Baby camera at the age of seven, he went on to create the equivalent of thirty short movies in various formats for friends and family by the time he turned twenty. His burgeoning career and dreams of being a filmdirector were interrupted by Nazi Germany and the Second World War, but instead of evacuating to the United Kingdom he stayed in his homeland and fought, wisely changing his last name to Melville after his favorite author. Now a veteran of the Resistance in Nazi occupied France, Jean Pierre Melville later used his love of filmmaking and American gangster movies, accompanied by his disdain for the domineering French cinema establishment, to invent an entire genre of films and inspire an army of young directors to ignore conventional methods and embrace their own creations in their own unique ways. THE ACCIDENTAL ICON From the beginning, Melville caught the attention of audiences and critics with his hardboiled crime noir films both in terms of storytelling and filming techniques. So much so that writers coined a term for his films and those soon to follow by others directors as the French New Wave, and Melville was the Godfather. Part of Melville s motivation for this new style was his intense dissatisfaction with the imperious demands of the Director s Guild as he personally defined the French New Wave as an ... • 11. College Essay On Nursing Home Nursing Homes During my sophomore year of high school, I joined a community service club. One of the main activities that the club participated in was weekly visits to the local nursing home; the club usually went on visits two times every week. At first, I was a little apprehensive to join in on the weekly visits, as I had gone on a few nursing homevisits before through various church activities and always felt a little uncomfortable. I had always deemed nursing homes as being a place for elderly people while they were waiting to die. However, after going on several nursing home visits with my community service club, I started to feel more comfortable and really got to know the residents. As I came to know each resident, I realized that while they did not all exactly wish to be in nursing home facility, most still felt like they had some living left to do. Contrary to my original perception, they were not just laying around and waiting to die. Most of them had become friends with the other residents and staff and loved the people in their little community. Various conditions can cause an individual, usually an elderly person, to have to take up residency in a nursing home. One of the most significant contributing factors is physical limitations. As we have learned in previous biology and exercise science classes, as an individual ages, his or her physical condition declines. Before being executed, Vanzetti left the courtroom with In all my life I have never stole, never killed never spilled blood.... He even tried to arouse international interest in the case, especially in Italy. The tactics showed early signs of working. Groups such as the New England Civil Liberties Union soon joined the fight, sending to its supporters a letter declaring that the evidence against Sacco and Vanzetti was unsubstantial and that they were being prosecuted merely because they were foreigners and are active and influential radicals. • 18. Milk Fat Experiment Title: What was the Effect of Temperature on Butter Yield? Purpose: The purpose was to determine if temperature has a direct effect on the formation of milk fat, and whether or not it effected the yield. Background Information: Milk Fat, more commonly known as butter, is comprised of different fats, specifically triglycerides. When using organic, unpasteurized milk, one will notice after sitting stagnant for a number of hours, the milk will start to separate within itself, with clumps of fat collecting at the bottom. This is because milk is an emulsion. An emulsion is a suspension two liquids within each other that would not naturally mix. (Kitchn, 2008) Another example of an emulsion is water in oil. These liquids can be physically mixed together, with a spoon or utensil, and they will appear mixed, but overtime they will resume their separated state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This works through creating a weak chemical bond between the butter and water, thus keeping the milk well homogenized. However, this chemical bond can easily be broken through agitation to the solution, like shaking, or stirring. When making butter, Heavy Cream is shaken or stirred until a solid precipitate is formed. The solid precipitate is the butter, and the liquid is the butter milk. Through physical agitation, the chemical bonds that the emulsion agent added to the mixture, has been broken, and the fat and water have separated, which results in butter. This separation occurs due to physical force is being exerted onto the phospholipid layer that surrounds the triglycerides. Through the physical agitation, the phospholipid layer begins to break apart, and it causes the triglycerides to bond together, which creates a solid mass of fat, which we refer to as ... • 21. College Is An American Writer All humans come to a point on whether or not they would like to attend college. College is a step one takes to further their education in the pursuit of having a career. But is that the only reason why someone would really choose to go to college? Choosing to become part of a huge or small community that holds a lot responsibilities is big decision one must think thoroughly about. They must have a purpose behind it for its rare to see someone say I want to go to collegejust because I want. Louis Menand, an American writer, has addressed this question with the three most common theories as to why someone would decide to go to college. His theories will show the different perspectives upon the arrival of choosing to attend college which will lead to what I find very convincing from them all. We go to college to spend four years of our lives and thousands of money on the school, yet we never ask ourselves why we choose to attend college. The collapse of communism in the USSR and Central and Eastern Europe Before we move on to our essay on to analyse The Collapse of Communism in USSR and Central and Eastern Europe and the reasons behind its collapse, we should discuss and understand the definition of Communism. Communism is a social system in which all the resources, economic activities are owned by state or country. It is a system in which wealth is dispersed equally among the people and there is no private ownership of the resources and wealth. The state owns and controls resources and property. Soviet model of communism was based on these ideals, all the opposition parties were banned only who shared the communist ideals were allowed. Complete power was into the hands of the Communist party. In 1917, the Soviet Union witnessed the Bolshevik Revolution which overthrew the czarism and a communist state was born. The Central and Eastern Europe nations followed USSR and adopted communism, with their leaders directly under the command and control of the Soviet Union. Communism was doomed from the start due to the moral weakness of human mankind and the corruption of its leaders. The first reason which played role in the failure and collapse of communism was the fact that the Communist party s domination was illegitimate from the beginning. Eastern European countries did the revolution have the support of more than a minority of people, yet this minority retained absolute control. The communist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. The Literature On Equality Dated Back Long Ago The literature on equality dated back long ago and was more of a statistical issue prior to Rawls philosophical contribution. The Rawlsian philosophy was based on providing justice beyond maximizing the civil liberties. His idea difference principle was to make people equal by having a set of institutions that allocate the worst off individuals the maximum level of primary goods . He viewed, in this regard, primary goods as the goods necessary for the success of any life plan and hence ensuring an equal primary good bundles is a way of making a person responsible for his life plan choice. The other philosophers like Jensen (1969) and Herrenstein (1971) deduced in their papers that the existence of inequalityis due to differential intelligence of the individuals and hence rendering the society an equal income distribution is merely an imagination. Their views were contradicted by the other thinkers like Bowles (1973) and Colinsk (1974) who thought of the inequality as an outcome of unequal opportunity. However, it was Dworkin (1981), Arneson (1989) or Cohen (1989) who introduced the personal responsibilityinto the literature on equality. Dworkin (1981 a,b) argued about how lack of internal resources can be overcome by external wealth distribution and introduced responsibility into achieving the equality in the society. • 38. Nazi Symbolism In Sylvia Plath s Daddy The whole point of the poem Daddy is Sylvia Plath showing her emotions of how drained she felt from losing her father at a young age and how one death affected her whole life. The use of Nazi symbolism can be confusing, but plays a huge part in understanding the full meaning of what Plath was portraying. The use of intense imagery shows a story of Plath s deepest emotions. The story Plath is describing is showing the reader her extreme depression and every big moment in her life that hurt her more and more. One could describe the poem Daddyas a collection of Plath s most depressive memories in her life. Most or at least some may think this poem is about a girl who loses her father at a young age in a concentration camp due to the poor living conditions. I was one of those people thinking that was the case leading her to lose faith in God, much like how the Jews and others in concentration camps lost their faith in God. It can be easy to come to this realization because of her use of Nazi symbolism in the poem. That symbolism makes it hard for one to see that she is not literally in a concentration camp, but feels as though she is figuratively in a concentration camp. When you figure this out you can tell she uses the Nazi symbolism to describe how broken inside she felt as did the people in the concentration camps felt. She feels so broken because she loses her father at just 8 years old. A very reasonable and most likely action for a child that age is to tumble into a deep spiral of depression. Plath herself falls victim to this deep confusion and more so depression. A death of a loved one at that young of an age is already hard enough on an 8 year old, let alone it being her father. Her father being someone she looked up to and loved so greatly, perhaps even more than anyone, making the death even harder for her to bare. When you look deeper into her father s death with research you can tell he died in boston and not a concentration camp. This fact proving their family was not in a concentration camp and Plath was using the Nazi symbolism to describe her feelings on the untimely death and how she felt wronged by the world. These wars were called the Crusades and for decades upon centuries, thousands of lives had been lost on both the Christian and Muslim fronts. Historically speaking, there were approximately nine crusadeswaged upon the Muslims to stop them from encroaching further on European territory, but most of these Crusades were unsuccessful with the advent of strong Muslim empires. Empires such as the Abbasid, the Fatimid, and the Ottoman all had advanced technology with the advent of gunpowder and canons; they were unstoppable and continued to conquer lands up to Vienna and Austria. The main goal of the Crusades was to take back the Holy land of Jerusalem, a sacred site to all people of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and to fight against the unbeilivers (Spielvogel, 329). Each of the three religions held claims about the significance of the city and the surrounding area, relating back to their respective prophets, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed, respectively. In Oscar Wilde s novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray, he uncovers how curiosity, hypocrisy, and vanity lead someone into their own demise. By looking at Dorian Gray s actions that revolve around beauty, it is evident that vanity is the largest contributing factor in Dorian s corruption and subsequent downfall, thus demonstrating how focusing on only one aspect of life can lead to immorality and decay of character. The decay of Dorian s character begins with his initial meeting of Lord Henry, where he speaks at length of how Dorian is not yet living because he has yet to experience life s pleasures. Lord... • 46. Purgatorio Essay Purgatorio Perhaps the best place to begin a consideration of Purgatorio is not its beginning but its middle. In cantos 16 18, the central three of this the central canticle, we learn about love and free will, perhaps the two principles most important to an understanding of the whole of the Comedy. Because our modern novelistic tradition of structure has led us to expect our plots to be arranged climactically, we tend to find this kind of geometric construction artificial and surprising, even though the practice was fairly common in medieval literature. Dante had himself already experimented with this kind of structure in La Vita Nuova. La Chanson of Roland, to cite another well known example, seems by our standards to drag on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this to be comprehensible, we must understand that Dante considers instinct a form of love, natural or animal love, which can never be sinful. A second kind of love, however, mind directed love, can fail in one of three ways and so be sinful, and in explaining this Virgil also explains the way the central portion of Purgatorio is structured around the concept of the seven deadly sins. One can go wrong by loving things one should not, (pride, envy, and anger), by loving what one should love, but with insufficient intensity (sloth) or by loving as ends in themselves things that one should love only in proper relationship to primary ends. In indulging these impulses, therefore, and so committing sins, one is motivated by a species of love. In canto 18, however, Dante pursues the relationship between free will and love one step further. If love is a powerful force innate in each individual, what merit is there in loving good or blame in loving ill? The answer is that Reason must surely guard the threshold of consent, for only with full consent of the will can a soul be held guilty of sin. Traditional medieval psychology held that sin involved three steps: attraction, delectation or delight, and consent. One perceives with the senses something to which one is attracted and then forms within the mind an image of the object of attraction in which to take delight. These two actions, the attraction or perception and the taking of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Immaterial Qualities In Shakespeare s Richard III Savi Rathi Professor Cody Age of Eliz I and Shakespeare 150E, Section 2 February 7th, 2018 Immaterial Qualities in Richard III In modern day society, many individuals do not believe that supernatural or immaterial qualities could play such a tremendous role in everyday life. However, in early British times, the citizens considered it normal to see supernatural aspects holding significant importance. Although William Shakespeare was not entirely historically accurate when crafting his play Richard III, he attempted to maintain the root structure of this period. Shakespeare uses many immaterial qualities including curses, dreams, ghosts, and time to not only foreshadow a myriad of critical events but also to emphasize Richard s avarice. One of the most salient supernatural aspects used throughout Richard III was the idea of curses and prophecies. Shakespeare used expletives throughout Richard III not only to foreshadow the impending doom of characters but also to help the reader follow the complicated plot line. Queen Margaret cast one of the most significant curses from the play declaring, Cancel his bond of life dear God, I plead. That I may live and to say, The dog is dead (Shakespeare 270). As a result of Richard s murderous scheme to expunge Edward, Margaret curses Richard s life and insists he will die soon, as a result of the curse and his horrible deed. To the reader s surprise, Margaret s curse is fulfilled as Richmond kills Richard in battle at the end of the play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The layout of a Sudoku puzzle comprises of nine rows and nine columns which make up eighty one total squares. In each of these zones all of the numbers must be unique (numbered one nine). On a similar note, each number in a row or column must be unique (one nine) . In addition if there is only one element in the vector (not including negative one) then the value of the element is given to the square. After the number is confirmed every element in the row, column and the box is check to see if the number confirmed is an option for any of these, if so it is deleted. The figure to the right shows how this process would work. The algorithm starts on the first element and goes row by row until it finds the 7th element with only the option of 5. It then inserts 5 into the value in the two by two matrix and checks every element in the same row, column and box to see if it has the option of 5, while doing this it deletes the option of 5 from the 3rd elements option vector and starts again from the first element. • 50. My Philosophy Of Small Groups Essay Introduction Over the years, many models have been developed and implemented to endeavor to make disciples. Some of the models have been effective and others have not. Among some of the most biblical and efficient models are the ones that involve small groups. Within the small groups models, they can be broken down into further detail, such as pastoral involvement, the church s goal, missions mindedness, etc. In this paper, I will explain my philosophy of small groups in a church and the importance of the relational group in authentic disciple making. I will also explain how missional groups can help the body of Christ move out into the community. Finally, I will summarize my status in regards to living in community with other believers and being missional with that community. My Philosophy of Small Groups My personal philosophy of small groups is scriptural based. Acts 2:46 says, And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart. As the original church began, it is obvious from Acts chapter two and particularly from verse 46 that the church met in unity in large groups. They actually used a two fold approach of meeting in large group meetings and then in the homes for more intimate small group gatherings. Acts 2:46 clearly shows the church gathering in homes, eating together, and continuing the work of the ministry. Effective ministry is connecting with both God ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
