Summary Of Oration On The Dignity Of Man
1a. Giovanni Pico della Mirandola says that human beings are free to become whatever or
whomever they may choose to be. In his work, Oration on the Dignity of Man, Mirandola
discusses how as a human being you have no limit or no bound and may choose for yourself the
limits and bounds of your nature He believes that God created humans with no fixed position in life
and that the choices they make during their journey will define whether they fall into high or low
positions on the chain of life.
1b. Pico believes that human beings are free because they have the ability to choose their own
paths. In Oration on the Dignity of Man, he states that we should not make that freedom of choice
God gave us into something harmful, for it was intended to be to our advantage. Representing that
God created us as free beings in having the freedom to choose. Later on in his work, he declares,
Let a holy ambition enter into our souls; let us not be content with mediocrity, but rather strive after
the highest and expend all our strength in achieving it. He regarded the most noble goal, the goal to
reach the highest position, in union to god. To choose to be next to God was the greatest
achievement.
1c. The ancient philosopher that was the most influential in Pico s beliefs was Plato. His influence
guided him away from the focus on civic life that had been such a feature of earlier humanist
thought and lead him to the belief than man could aspire to union with God through the

My Father Only Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play The...
After reading the short story, Because My Father Always Said He Was the Only Indian Who
Saw Jimi Hendrix Play The Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock by Sherman Alexie, Alexie
follows all six elements such as ideas, organization, voice, word choice, fluidity in sentences and
last but not least, conversation. When looking at the Ideas of the short piece and how it was
created, one of the most noticeable things is the revealing of the plot. Just by looking at the title
you have an idea that the short piece will be about the relationship between the father and with
Jimi Hendrix. Alexie reveals in the information in a chronological order as well as use bigger
details that later explain the smaller details that were in the short piece. For example, in the
beginning of the narrator... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alexie draws in the reader by first telling a short story about her father back in the 1970 s. Alexie
then goes on in briefly telling the reader what prison was like for their father. Eventually moving
on to how the father met the mother and the relationship they father and mother had. This is an
interesting take on the way a child views their father and mother and how the father has craved
freedom. The fluidity of this short piece is excellent, it is not choppy and it gives just enough
detail without dragging the story out. It also helps that this piece is an easy read. One of the
things that I enjoyed from the piece was the comparison to how Indians would live compared to
different races mentioned in the piece. I though it gave the Victor the narrator some personality.
Victor also does a lovely job on creating the images of what his parents and their relationship, as
well as his love for his father. The analogy of Jimi Hendrix and freedom for the freedom was easy
to pick up on, especially for when the father had bought himself a motorcycle and found the
freedom he craved (something Jimi Hendrix heavily

Robert Nozick s Experiment, The Experience Machine and the...
The Experience Machine and the Inclusion of Meta Pleasure
Robert Nozick is a philosopher who seeks to disprove the utilitarian notion of hedonism through a
thought experiment that he has entitles The Experience Machine (Nozick 646). I will first explain
the concept of utilitarianism and hedonism, then the experience machine before I give a reply about
the inclusion of a third category of pleasure which I have called meta pleasure . Finally, I will show
how technology may be disproving the entire experience machine thought experiment altogether.
Utilitarianism is a moral theory that seeks to define right and wrong actions based solely on the
consequences they produce. By utilitarian standards, an act is determined to be right if and ... Show

He states that we desire, more so than pleasure, to live a life in contact with reality (Nozick 646).
However, I am not convinced that this example on its own proves hedonism false. Perhaps the idea
very idea of connecting to a machine and losing contact to reality is in itself painful to us, as it
presents us with an existential crisis, and so we choose not to connect to avoid the painful
thoughts associated with having one s mind controlled by a machine. Perhaps, there is a third
category of pleasures that could be called meta pleasures that are the pleasures that come from
knowing that we are in touch with reality and that what we are doing is having a real effect.
Much like personal safety, meta pleasure is only tangible when it is threatened. We are not able to
be aware of or feel our safety, we become aware of it only when it is threatened by something else,
as is the case with meta pleasure. We only become aware of meta pleasure when something like an
experience machine threatens our notion of the reality we are experiencing and suggests that our
minds could be completely controlled by a machine. If meta pleasure is something that is real, then
the experience machine thought experiment would only further prove hedonism because it shows
that we will desire things which are pleasurable and avoid those that are painful. On the other hand,

Effective Use Of Imagery In Marianne Moore s Poetry
In Poetry , Marianne Moore explains that it is not that she does not like poetry, but it is the idea
that poetry is simply not the same anymore. Poetry conveys ingenuity and candid ideas; it should be
used to express one s authentic thoughts and feelings. Moore connects the use of imagery to
expound on the interpretation that people do not appreciate or like what they do not understand.
The poem purposely has no true structure, as it is written in free form with no rhymescheme or
pattern. Moore shows her frustration with the addressed autocrats of literature and displays that by
using an ironic tone in the composition of the poem. Through Moore s use of imagery, she
highlights people s lack of originality and perspective. In the line Hands that can grasp, eyes that
can dilate, hair that can rise if it must, these things are important not because a high sounding
interpretation can be put upon them but because they are useful... (Moore 6), the speaker is stating

The poem has a natural flow, exemplifying that poetry does not have to abide by a set of rules.
People are used to thinking they must follow the clichГ© guidelines that poetry must rhyme,
have a pattern, or a hidden meaning, and that simply is not true. The unrestrained arrangement of
the poem connects with one of Moore s concluding lines, ...the raw material of poetry in all its
rawness... (44). The speaker s use of enjambment represents the flow of her thoughts in the poem.
Every word continued over the line break has its own emphasis. For example, there are only two
periods in the poem, one in the first stanza and one at the very end. The period is placed in the
quote, ...one discovers after it all, a place for the genuine. , which puts emphasis on the word
genuine. Moore uses this to officially open the readers mind to genuine poetry, as after that point
she provides justifications as to what makes it genuine with the

Personal Narrative On Getting Chased By Goats
This I Believe
Getting chased by goats was a fun experience. I believe that being cautious and careful is
incredibly important, and to not take warnings lightly. I believe this because being cautious could
save your life and a life of another person. Also, taking warnings lightly could seriously mess
things up for people and cause mild to serious injury. This event happened in San Rafael, Jalisco,
Mexico a couple of summers ago. My mom had just us not to go out and play with the animals, I
was maybe ten or eleven and wanted to go over to the goats to see and pet them. My younger
brother, Demian, and my two cousins were also there, and they too wanted to pet the goats. The
goats were in a rodeo like arena, so we could walk on top of the walls and get to a red platform
overlooking the place. Us seven through eleven year olds jumped off the platform and ran over to
the goats on the end of the other side. When we were maybe ten feet from the goats, they looked
up and saw us, and they began to chase us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

terrifying at the same time. It was hot outside so I was already sweating and the being chased by
goats didn t make it better. As I Grabbed the latter to go up, my brother reached the top, but my
cousin was still maybe thirty feet away. Nevertheless, he made it and we went inside and told our
parents of the adventure we had just had. My mom was kind of angry because she told us not to

Macbeth s Ambition
Even though I think that Macbeth is one of if not the most interesting character to look at when it
come to ambition. Personally, my favorite ambitious character would have to be
Macduff. His story is something that everyone can admire and everyone can sympathize with.
His ambitions are not to really improve himself or have success for himself, but the entirety of
Scotland. He is very honorable and he would and did risk his own life for his country. When
Duncan was king he was loyal to him and him alone, but when word spread that Macbeth had killed
the kings so that he could become king Macduff could not bear to hear it. Although this was tough
for him, it only drove him to have a more passionate hatred for Macbeth and to resent him for

Relationships of Maxilla to Mandible
Before tackling the topic of articulators, the maxillomandibular relationship must first be introduced
as it provides the bases upon which dental prosthesis are fabricated and must be maximally
duplicated to ensure the success of a denture or restoration.
The temporomandibular joint involves the condylar head which moves along the petrous part of
temporal bone that makes up the mandibular/glenoid fossa. These condyles move the ... Show more

In addition, although it is unmovable unlike the mandible, the maxilla is in a fixed position relative
to the temporomandibular joint or the reference positions when the mandible has to function
against the maxillary teeth. This anatomical relationship, know as orientation relation, mandates its
recording when dealing with prosthesis or else it would lead to disharmony of occlusion and
eventually harming supporting and associated tissues.
In addition to the normal maxilla and mandibular positions discussed individually, the
maxillomandibular relationship must also be taken into consideration in the field of prosthodontics
and restorative dentistry. The maxillomandibular relationship accounts for the registration of any
positional relationship of the mandible with respect to the maxilla. The maxillomandibular relation
records are:
1.Orientation Relation Record: Relation of the maxilla to the intercondylar axis/temporomandibular
joint axis, an imaginary axis passing the condyles.

Racial Justice Of The United Church Of Christ
Environmental racism is the targeting of minorities and low income communities to bear a
disproportionate share of environmental costs. It refers to any policy or practice that differently
affects or disadvantages individuals, groups or communities based on race or skin color (Schill
Austin 1991). Pollutionis disproportionately distributed across the country; it is also distributed
unequally within individual states, within counties, and within cities (Schill Austin 1991).
Hazardous wastesites, municipal landfills, incinerators, and other hazardous facilities are
disproportionately located in poor and minority neighborhoods (White Newsome 2016). Each year,
America produces 275 million metric tons of hazardous waste. Environmental regulations only
regulate 40 million tons of the waste leaving the rest to be sent to landfills and waste sites
(White Newsome 2016). According to research done by The Commission for Racial Justice of
the United Church of Christ, Zip code areas containing at least one hazardous waste site had, on
average, 24% people of color, compared to 12% in areas without a hazardous waste site.
Additionally, zip code areas containing either two or more facilities or one of the five largest
hazardous waste landfills in the nation had, on average, 38% people of color (White Newsome
2016). One of the largest dumping grounds is located in Emelle, Sumter County, Alabama. Sumter
County houses the nation s largest hazardous landfill facility. The landfill

Truman Doctrine And The Cold War
The Cold War was one of the most peculiar occurrences in human history, which endured almost
fifty years and all those years was the dominant characteristic of international relations. It was a
period of indirect confrontation between two, at the time(1945 1989), most powerfull countries in
the world the Soviet Unionand the United States of America. However, there is no exact and
precise date of the beginning of the war, as it started gradually, with the contribution of many
different causes. However, a common question usually arises: was the Truman Doctrine responsible
for starting the Cold War?
First of all, Truman doctrine and its objectives must be presented. The Truman doctrine was
established in 1947, by the thirty third president of the United States Harry S. Truman. In the
book The Truman Presidency the Truman doctrine was described as one of the most momentous
events in international political relations of this century . The Truman Doctrine was necessary, as
the communist push and constraint on Greece and Turkey menaced both of them with debacle.
The main issue was, that if Turkey fell, Greece would collapse with her and vice versa. And if
the USSR would break through these political barriers, the rest of Europe, the Middle East, North
Africa and even India would be in peril. In other words there would be an obvious dominance of
Communism, which could not be allowed, as it would disrupt the growing idyll of capitalism and
democracy. The only way that

A Summary Of American Marriage
Upon her passageway into the world a youthful American lady finds these ideas immovably settled;
she sees the guidelines that are gotten from them; she does not ease back to see that she can t
withdraw for a moment from the built up uses of her peers without putting in peril her true serenity,
her respect, nay, even her social presence; and she finds the vitality required for such a
demonstration of accommodation in the immovability of her comprehension and in the virile
propensities which her instruction has given her. It might be said that she has learned by the
utilization of her autonomy to surrender it without a battle and without a mumble when the time
wants to make the relinquish.
However, no American lady falls into the works of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As she obviously observes previously the main street that can prompt local joy, she enters upon it
on the double and tails it to the end without looking to turn back. A similar quality of reason which
the youthful spouses of America show in twisting themselves immediately and without repining to
the somber obligations of their new condition is no less show in all the colossal trials of their lives.
In no nation on the planet are private fortunes more unstable than in the United States? It is normal
for a similar man over the span of his life to rise and sink again through every one of the evaluations
that lead from lavishness to neediness. American ladies bolster these changes with quiet and
insatiable vitality; doubtlessly their yearnings contract as effortlessly as they grow with their
fortunes.
Most of the globe trotters who move each year to individuals the Western wilds have a place, as I
saw in the previous piece of this work, to the old Anglo American race of the Northern states. A
hefty portion of these men, who surge so strongly onwards in a quest for riches, were at that point
in the pleasure in a competency in their own particular piece of the nation. They bring their spouses
alongside them and make them share the innumerable dangers and privations that always go to the

Paper On Claude Monet
Clandestine Memorandums The 1800 s were a time when art merely showed our three dimensional
world on a two dimensional plane. Claude Monet, a famous French impression painter, sought to
change these Victorian standards that he so resented with his Impressionist ideals. During an art
exhibition in 1874, Monet debuted his painting Impression, Sunrise which was critiqued by many
other artists. One artist acridly dubbed it the title of Impression in that it did not focus on the scene
at hand but instead favored lighting. However, Monet did not let this get to him and in fact, let it
drive him to push for change in the art community. Monet used colors, technique, and
impressionismideals on to convey the new way that he believed art should be created. When one

As visible in many of Monet s paintings, such as water lilies, the strokes used can be distinctly
seen. This visibility of strokes provoked critics to think that Monet had not properly finished the
painting. This notion was true in regards to Monet contriving multiple paintings of the same scene,
however as stated by Yurasits in Analysis of Claude Monets Impression, Sunrise (2015) Every
painting Monet created had to meet a certain criteria before he could begin to consider it a finished
piece, and even then he could find the potential for change and growth in a painting and deny its
completion (para. 7). Monet, despite finding a piece finished, would go back any time that he felt
the work no longer matched his precedents. Although hard to tell from online images, Monet s
works comprised of bountiful heaps of paint. Critics were rather pleased with these paintings as
they showed how Monet used both the mixing of the pigments and depth to make his painting
extract even more emotion from viewers. Monet and his multifarious artistic techniques were quite
effective in the ways that they sought to extract

Wasabi And Horseradish Similarities
Wasabi and horseradish are often recommended as substitutes for each other and you may
already be aware that wasabi is sometimes referred to as Japanese horseradish. Does this mean
that they are the same thing? No, it does not. In fact, they have some differences that you should
understand before choosing one over the other. We will examine those differences in the
SPICEography Showdown below. How does wasabi differ from horseradish? The most obvious
difference between these two condiments is the appearance of each. When prepared, wasabi has
a pale green color; horseradish can range from beige to white. The next major difference is tricky
different parts of each plant are consumed. While both are often referred to as roots, wasabi is
actually a rhizome. As for horseradish, the root really is the part of the plant that is used to make
the condiment. Fresh wasabi has a more nuanced flavor and a milder heat that does not linger for
as long as the heat from horseradish.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wasabi s traditional use is largely confined to Japanese cuisine and the use of horseradish is
primarily on European foods. Wasabi is much more difficult to cultivate than horseradish, which
means that it is harder to find and more expensive in those places where it is available. Fresh
wasabi rhizome is actually pretty rare outside of Japan; horseradish can be found in many American
and European grocery

Atlantic Slave Trade Essay
Being fully aware of the benefits of the slaves, the British elevated their importation and by the
turn of the eighteenth century African slaves numbered in the tens of thousands in the British
colonies (1). As the demands in tobacco increased, labor increased. Like the simple law of
supply and demand. Ending of Royal African Company s monopoly in 1698 encouraged more
traders to enter the slave business thus making African slaves more accessible (4). As a result of
their increased expense, their masters were stringent and determined to get as much out of them as
possible thereby working them mercilessly (Faragher 2009, p. 83). Initially, the cost of slaves may
have been more expensive but in the end the masters were able to keep them enslaved.... Show more

They were just a phase, slavery was now the new tradition, but some slaves did benefit from their
circumstances. For instance, some urban merchants and artisans employed slaves in their shops,
which exposed them to marketable skills (1). Further proving that slaves located in towns,
withheld more freedom than the others in the cities. Now onto the treatment of women during
this slave era. During the 1600 s laws were put in place pertaining to servant women and their
illegitimate children (3). The law stated that women servants or slaves who conceived children
with their masters will automatically experience an increase in their year of servitude. Since
giving birth would mean any extra mouth to feed, the owners took it upon themselves to get the
law passed. The masters can do whatever they please with them ,but woe betide the woman to get
pregnant. Woe betide the woman to resist their master. Woe betide the woman to keep that child.
The masters would sneak into the slaves quarters and rape them, yet they couldn t respond
because the master was always right . Many thought of running away yet due to their dark skin, it
was hard for slaves to escape from their owners and blend into the rest of the population. As
number of slaves increased, lawmakers constructed legal codes for strictly controlling slave
activities. Lawmakers therefore made sure that the slaves had absolutely no

What Does George Santayana Say About History And Human Nature
George Santayana s quote from the novel The Life of Reason, volume 1 explains about history and

regards to history that progress does not depend on change but more on the ability to retain from

the first stage of life the mind is frivolous and easily distracted, it misses progress by failing in

Ed Gein Film Analysis
In 1956, serial killer Ed Gein was arrested in his Wisconsin home. The quiet hermit was found to
be in possession of various items made out of human skin, shrunken heads, even soup bowls that

Gein went insane and turned into a human butcher. Even though, he was only guilty of murdering
two women, he also confessed to be a serial grave robber that would dig up and carve up the
bodies he exhumed. Gein even went as far making a human skin costume and would wear it, posing
as the opposite sex. Living in the Wisconsin at the time, author Robert Bloch started writing a

TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE PROTECTION UNDER INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The Question that arises is if granted, whether copyright law would be sufficient for the protection
of traditional knowledge?
Some of the major drawbacks in protecting traditional knowledge with copyright are as follows:
1.Authorship: Under the Indian Copyright Law, protection is given to the author or owner of the
work. Traditional Knowledge is community owned knowledge and is generally developed and
evolved through generations to generation. In such case tracing the author of the traditional
knowledge is not only difficult but almost impossible.
2.Protection for Limited Time: Indian copyright protection is time confined as in it is granted for a
particular term of 60 years. Traditional Knowledge is imperative and it should have perpetual
protection rather than limited protection.
3.Fixed form: To protect any work with Copyright under the Indian Copyright Law it is required
that the work must be present in a tangible form. Fixed form of traditional knowledge is hard to
find. In most of the cases, traditional knowledge is passed over generations in a community in
form of stories. These stories are rarely available in fixed form.
As per Indian Copyright law traditional knowledge fails to adhere the requirements that are
precedent to copyright protection. Hence, the protection can easily be denied

The Berlin Wall And The Wall
On November 9,1989 the German rulers finally allowed the Wall to be taken down. The Berlin
Wall was according to Rosenberg a physical division between West Berlin and East Germany in
order to keep East Germans from fleeing to the West (Rosenberg). History always seems to repeat
itself because even in modern times the usage of a wallto keep people from moving in large number
is still viable. Nonetheless, like the Berlin wall and the Great Wall of Chinabefore that, wallsare just
that walls and unfortunately they are not enough to keep individuals from getting to the other side.
With the upcoming presidential elections in the United States there is a party member in
particular who promises: that if elected will construct a wall separating The United States of
America and its southern neighbor Mexico with a concrete wall. With this in mind, it is easy to
write off the wall and guess at a rough estimate with dollars in mind but what is more important
than money is how this wall would impact the surrounding areas where the wall itself is to be
constructed. Not only that but if such a wall is to be built it will also have an everlasting impact on
the local economies near the site. Although constructing a wall on the American southern border
near Texas and Mexico would reduce the passage of illegal immigrants, the cost of this wall would
outweigh the benefits of its erection.
The first of many problems that arise with the construction of this wall is that there are

International Law as Law Essay
International Law as Law
When comparing apples to pears, one is not making a fair comparison, but a disproportionate
comparison. Often times when international law is discussed or attempts are made to understand
international law; many often attempt to compare international law with existing laws such as
national law or domestic law. Making such disproportionate comparisons leads to many
misconceived notions and attitudes toward international law. For an adequate comparison of
international law to other laws, one should look closely at the available facts. This essay will
demonstrate the vitality of international law, in a world of nations which continue to increase in
interdependence. Unlike municipal law, international law is a ... Show more content on

Taking this into consideration, dealing with external activities of a state, international law has
extensive latitude. In Article 38 (1) of the Statue of the International Court of Justice, the
following sources of international law are acknowledged: (a) international conventions, whether
general or particular, establishing rules expressly recognized by the contesting States; (b)
international custom, as evidence of a general practice accepted as law; (c) the general
principles of law recognized by civilized nations; (d) ... judicial decisions and the teachings of the

conventions. Treaties are codified agreements established by consenting states as means of
resolving a dispute or to recognize mutual interests. Since treaties are codified, they are favored
over customary law; therefore, becoming a vital part of building a more stable foundation for

Ductus Arteriosus
This paper will critique research and literatures about the use of paracetamol in treating Patent
Ductus Arteriosus.
Background
In the foetal circulation, the primary role of the ductus arteriosus (DA) is to divert the ventricular
output away from the lungs towards the placenta in utero by its connection between the pulmonary
artery and the descending aorta. The patency of the ductus is mainly regulated by low oxygen
tension present in the foetal lung and prostaglandin, which is known for its vasodilating effect in
the placental circulation. Prostaglandin levels are usually high as a result of placental production
and low clearance ability of the foetal lung (Gardner, Carter, Enzman Hines, Hernandez,2016).
The DA closure is essential for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I threw on my favorite running pants and jump down the two flights of stairs. I have been
waiting for this day to come for months. Today was the day I would sign up for the big race. I
woke up as early as the roosters crow. My mom yells, Emma are u up?
I walk downstairs and say, Mom I have been up for hours already. I hope I make a lot of friends
today because I am new to this neighborhood and have not met anyone yet. I moved to this
neighborhood two months ago and have been too nervous to talk to anyone.
My parents and I got in the car bright and early and went to the track field. There were many

Squeaky started to cry. She was so upset because when she heard the bad news, she thought to

not knowing that Gretchen moved away this summer. When I heard that Gretchen couldn t coach

Raymond responded saying, What a good Idea. We talked for a bit longer then decided to call our

The world s leading distributor, manufacturer and marketer of non alcoholic beverage is indeed

Macro Environmental Factor and forces that are outside the scope of a company s economic
conditions are referred to as macro environmental. As a brand manager, an analysis of factors or
forces such as new entrants, globalization, society concerns, and preference for differential
products will need to be accomplished. Coca Cola dominates the soft drink industry with their
strong brand name and vast distribution channels. This industry has small growth and is fully
saturated, which makes it difficult for new entrants. PepsiCo and Coca Cola are the two main
companies that are able to provide vast distribution and availability of alternative beverage in
supermarkets, supercenters, wholesale clubs, and convenience stores. Companies need to focus on
how to drive revenue and improve market shares found through mergers. Example, PepsiCo attained
Quaker Oats, who bought the Gatorade brand to help expand their energy drink sector.
Another factor to consider is globalization. Global communication is increasing and companies
want to be the first movers. Companies need to ensure they have the latest and best technology for
advertising and marketing globally. In Europe and the Unites States people promoting a healthier
lifestyle. Consumer awareness of health problems arising from obesity and inactive lifestyle

Voting In The United States
In American history, voting has been a direct involvement of the public with the government.
Patterns based on the structure of voting have emerged to demographically section the voting
population. Scholars have found that these voting patterns can be followed by studying the political
activity of different religious groups. From the 1960s to our most recent elections, votingpatterns
among these groups have fluctuated as well as stayed constant. The reason for such changes, or
lack thereof, can be credited to a number of social issues such as abortion, gay rights, and other
major secular controversies as well as the historical context from where their political decisions
arise. These patterns show that some people experience pressure from... Show more content on

With aspects of the Catholic Church being forced to assimilate and cater to a wider public because
of immigration, there became more of a separation between races instead of the usually rivalry
against the Protestants. Many white Catholics, with affluence coupled with being well educated,
moved to the suburban areas where they were typically surrounded by their own kind, while their
children went to schools that had a wide variety of religious backgrounds. Between the 1980s to our
most recent election, the vote has definitely alternated between candidates of different political
parties. However, many factors also play into this frequent deviation, such as the loss vitality of the
Catholic Church due to church scandals, lower mass attendance, decreased child attendance of
parochial schools, lower occupancy of religious careers, and sexual education (Fowler, 91). With
all of these variables, the Democratic support among white Catholics decreased to primarily those

Disadvantages Of Incremental Model
4. INCREMENTAL MODEL. This model involves continues user feedback and interactions
resulting in a product that is much closer to user expectations. The development is built up from an
initial Prototype that is continuously being developed and tested. The requirements of the
incremental model is divided into various builds where multiple development cycles take place.
This creates a multi waterfall cycle and the cycles are divided up into smaller, more easily
managed modules. Each module passes through the requirements, design, implementation and
testing phases. A working version of software is produced during the first module, so you have

issues. Disadvantages of RAD MODEL. Depends on strong team and individual performances
for identifying business requirements. If the system cannot be properly modularized, building
the components necessary for RAD will be problematic. High dependency on modelling skills.
When to use RAD MODEL. RAD should be used when there is a need to create a system that
can be modularized in 2 3 months of time. It should be used if there s high availability of
designers for modelling and the budget is high enough to afford their cost along with cost of
automated code generating tools. 6. AGILE MODEL. Agile Development Model is also a type of

of working software product. Agile methods break the product into small incremental releases with
each release building on previous functionality. Each release is thoroughly tested to ensure software

important things in his lifetime, but just never got recognized. Little is known about John during

To be specific, the first exploration launched from Plymouth, England April 1584, a long while
since John went on a journey with Martin Frobisher. Thomas Harriot is present during this
exploration (Moran). Thomas Harriot, to sum it up, was, first of all, a lifelong friend of Raleigh
s. He was an astronomer, mathematician, and a master of navigation. He even founded the school
of algebra and constructed telescopes (States). He and White went together and were in charge
with drawing and mapping the people and land they encountered. They also learned about the
Algonquian language and culture from the wanchese and Manteo. As you may guess, John
painted pictures of that. Later, 1585, Raleigh decides to colonize where John white and Thomas
Harriot explored earlier in 1584. Raleigh s first attempt at colonizing Roanoke was terrible. They
had found no quick sources of wealth and had made enemies of the Indians there. He made another

Karen Horney would give a lecture titled The Distrust Between the Sexes. This is basically about
how men and women are different. She gives many reasons as to how they are, but the top ones are
physically, hostility, emotionally, with attitude, intellectually, and with childhood conflicts. She
was born in 1885 and died in 1952. Suzanne Raitt writes, In 1922, at a panel over which Sigmund
Freud presided during a meeting of the Psychoanalytic Congress, a young Berlin trained
psychoanalyst delivered a paper that began one of the fiercest and longest debates in
psychoanalytic theory. The analyst the first woman ever to deliver a paper on feminine
psychology at an international psychoanalytic meeting was Karen Horney, and the paper, On the
Genesis of the Castration Complex in Women, was her famous response to the claim of her own
psychoanalyst, Karl Abraham, that all women unconsciously envy the penis and want to be men.
As she gave her paper, Horney was nervous but respectful. She carefully acknowledged the
extraordinary significance of Freud s work before going on to deliver a searing analysis of the
masculinist bias of most of his theories on women. This challenge to Freudian psychoanalytic
theory set the tone for Horney s subsequent career. Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes

Theme Of Injustice In The Scottsboro Boys
True Injustice Prepared to see The Scottsboro Boys, I awaited in the view obstructed row H
behind a mountain of curly red hair. Between my challenged vision, in pair with a simple wooden
set which dragged into the theater, not much grabbed my attention. Oh, how wrong I would quickly

the room. My head swiveled in every direction, overwhelmed by the euphoric commotion that
flooded into the theatre. At that moment, I couldn t help but smile... a smile that would soon fade.
This time can we tell the truth? Right off the bat, the Scottsboro Boysset the tone. Nine African
American boys falsely accused of raping two white females on a train in Alabama during the 1930
s. It came as no surprise that truth and injustice were woven into the plot. Yet, the manifestation of
these corruptions develops through the incomparable resilience and integrity displayed by the
Scottsboro Boysin this production. Against all odds, they never wavered in their struggle for
freedom, exhibiting unmatched perseverance and aligning themselves with the truth. To start, one
of the many things that stood out to me was The Lady who was mysteriously present in every
scene. Without lines until the very end of the performance, it was like she was watching and
learning from the play simultaneously with audience. Initially, I couldn t pinpoint the importance of

Necessary And Proper Clause Essay
Necessary and Proper Clause: Defined In Article 1 and section 8 of the Articles of the
Constitution the necessary and proper clause is defined. This clause is many times referred to as
the elastic clause as well. Its inclusion was to grant Congress the power and authority to carry out
the enumerated powers. The implied powers that Congress also possess, were granted with this
clause as a basis, these implied powers are required for Congress to execute the enumerated
powers. Some examples include, the power to collect and levy taxes and revenue, the authority to
also regulate currency and its value, as well as coining money. Without these specific powers, our
government doesn t have the authority or power to charter a bank, regulate the national currency or

Your Assumptions Are Your Windows On The World Summary
Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in awhile, or the
light won t come in. Isaac Asiman describes an assumption in a visual way. When people make
an assumption, their view of the world becomes dimmer and darker. The window will get more
tainted and the outside world won t be as clear as it used to be. Their windows will be
completely dark until all they can see is their reflections staring back at them with wondering
eyes. The individual has been so sure of themselves that they didn t realize the world was
slipping away into a dimming light. Now, all they are left with is darkness. Everyone has been
pushed away by that individual s vision of how things are ought to be. It s until that they see their
own reflection do they see that the world has closed off. For the light to reappear in their life
again, the person will have to see the other side and get in touch with the reality of the world. Once

Whenever someone makes an assumption, they will look for clues that will back up their
assumption. This happens a lot when someone is trying to figure out if two people are dating or

have all the facts. One reason why assumptions stay hidden from us is that they are so deeply
ingrained; the assumptions may appear when we come across a certain person or group that ll

may have a culture a certain way, another country may have there s a completely different way.

more subtle, if present at all, with Potter and Bertin (1988), for example, determining no significant
response to a variety of amino acid solutions in S. bullata.
Traditionally, experimental analysis of Homo sapiens taste thresholds has similarly focused on
these two classes of biomolecules, with similar sweetness thresholds as those exhibited by
members of the taxa Insecta being established in H. sapiens with respect to simple carbohydrates.
For example, while Scheiner et. al. in (2003) (as quoted in Scheiner et al. 2004), demonstrated that
a sucrose concentration above 3% was sufficient to induce a positive sweetness detection rate of
close to 60% in a population of the honey bee, Apis mellifera, Richard Bowen (2016) has indicated
the H. sapiens population response threshold resides around sucrose concentrations of 3.4%.
Recently however, the movement away from the high calorie content of simple carbohydrate
sweeteners in the human diet, has generated an industry of artificial sweeteners commonly utilized

Hate And Love, And American Values In America
America is a driven nation in which everyone has different motivators which produce varied results
in society and the lives of the Americans. Hate and love, as well as selfishness and selflessness are
the primary motivators of individuals as they cause the most amount of passion and debate. Morals
will impact these values and cause them to change to match the situation along with the feelings of
the individual. At times, these values may contradict each other, such as hate and loveor selfishness
versus selflessness, yet these contradictions are necessary for its inverse to exist. Without hate,
love would not exist. Selfless actions could not be recognized if not for selfish actions. The effect
morals have on the individual would go unobserved if there was not a range of beliefs. Although its
values can contradict one another, American values are what drives America to the success that it
praises itself for.
Hate and love are seen as antonyms when in reality the two ideas come in a pair. In order to
hate, one must have known love before for as it is impossible to hate something without caring
about it in some form. It is very easy for love to develop into hate, and vice versa. Hate will lead
to exclusion and bad choices while love will unify and bind the nation together, making it stronger.
Although an individual s or a nation s goal may be for peace, the result can be hatred if proper
steps laid out in Just War Theory are not taken. Just War Theory acknowledges that there

Should The Articles Of Confederation Or Write A New...
In 1787, a group of fifty five American delegates, met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to attend the
Constitutional Convention to work out problems with the way the country was run. This involved
improving and revising the old Articles of Confederation. Instead of revising the Articles of
Confederation to make the government work better, the delegates came up with a plan for a new
form of government, the United States Constitution. During the writing and ratifying of the
Constitution, there were some fundamental issues being debated. The main debate was about
whether to amend the Articles of Confederationor write a new constitution. James Madison, a
member of the Virginia Assembly, moved the convention along but proposing a document he had
drafted called the Virginia Plan. The Virginia Plan created a central republican form of government.
The government would consist of the legislative, executive and judicial branch. It... Show more

Delegates feared that the national government would have too much power over the states.
William Paterson came up with the New Jersey Plan. The Plan proposed for changes in the
Articles of Confederation that would let Congress regulate trade and tax imports, but would
maintain state power. The New Jersey Plan proposed a single legislature, a government that relied
on the authority of the state governments, more than one executive and one vote of legislation for
each state. The plan allowed each state to keep its independence. The plan did not stop the states
from violating foreign treaties, or from entering into treaties, or wars. James Madison was against
the New Jersey Plan. Madison insisted that the New Jersey Plan did not improve any of the flaws
of the Articles of Confederation. The Virginia Plan was finally approved as the plan to be used to
construct the new government. The approval of the Virginia Plan meant that the delegates were
now committed to creating a new

Stolen Generations In Australia
The Report of the National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Children from Their Families 1997 better known as the Bringing Them Home Report brought to
the fore the policies of separation and assimilation but also denial from several quarters of society
specifically the Liberal Prime Minister
Howard who referred to the whole sorry episode as a blemish in an Australian story of which all
should otherwise be extremely proud, a heroic achievement in the face of immense difficulties.
This blemish was genocide. It took place, as considered policy, for 70 years, in a stable
Westminster parliamentary democracy. (Bartrop, 2001 p.84 85).
With the election of a new Labor government 10 years after, came the apology to the stolen
generations that the conservative Liberal government never did. After conceding the major role of
the stolen generations in intergenerational trauma in 2008, the Council of Australian Governments
agreed to six ambitious targets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having denied the Stolen Generations compensation, what compensation does your government
have in mind for the exploitation of mineral wealth and the outright theft of Aboriginal lands?
The ongoing legacy of colonisation and government policies has had a severe effect on Indigenous
peoples. The danger of an age of new stolen generations is evident in that contemporary child
protection agencies are replicating many of the discriminatory and destructive dynamics of the
Stolen Generations era (Gibson, 2013). Systematic poverty is proficient for many Indigenous
people despite a strong economy, efforts of self determination and limited land right, the Indigenous
disadvantage has not improved since the 1967 Referendum despite government policy and market

Broken Spears Bernal Diaz
Two Accounts: Broken Spears and Bernal Diaz In every historical event there tends to be
conflicting sides, each member has their own point of view based on a plethora of statistics. These
statistics include but are not limited to, socio economic classes, race, geographical boundaries,
gender, etc. When two cultures interact for the first time there is bound to be some discrepancies
over what truly occurred. These discrepancies are portrayed quite well through Bernal Diaz s The
Conquest of New Spain and The Broken Spears: The Aztec Account of the Conquest of Mexico,
either side showed similarities, but at the same time they showed even more metamorphoses,
making it nearly impossible to say either account holds more water than the other.... Show more

The favour he now begged of the great Montezuma was that he should listen to the words he now
wished to speak. Then he very carefully expounded the creation of the world, how we are all
brothers, the children of one mother and father called Adam and Eve;...so that they might give
up the worship of idols and make no more human sacrifices for all men are bothers and commit
no more robbery or sodomy. (Diaz 602) In this passage Diaz claimed that they were simply
trying to spread the word of God and stop some of the unnecessary bloodshed and violence that
took place in the Aztec s culture. However, in the account told by the Aztec s, [The Spaniards] ran
everywhere; they invaded every room, hunting and killing (Broken Spears 614). It is apparent here
that the interpretations do not match up in these two selections. This makes it hard to believe
either since the two have such immense renditions of the true intention of the Spaniards. Yet
another significant difference is the intention of the Spaniards. In Diaz s story he claimed, ...that
in coming to see and speak with such a great prince we had fulfilled the purpose of our voyage
and the orders of our lord the king (Diaz 601). That account claimed that all the Spaniards wanted
was was to spread Christianity and meet someone in a high ranking position. It would be fair to say
that they Spaniards wanted nothing more than to explore yet something

Technology In Law Enforcement
Given the day and age of our society, technology has been the up most necessary component. Being
our generation is so technologically oriented, innovations are being required to fulfill the routine of
society. In essence, technology has influenced the practice of law enforcement agencies throughout
the United States. Over the years, law enforcementagencies have faced severe scrutiny in regards to
policemisconduct. This misconduct stems from police altercations involving excessive force
against many minority groups. The reality of these excessive force claims can be dated back to the
start of policing, but in essence the Michael Brown incident in Ferguson, Missouri initiated the
pressure of change in law enforcement encounters. Law enforcement... Show more content on

As for the accountability of officers, the integrity and professionalism of an officer is enlisted
within these body cameras. Thus, each and every officer is held responsible for their actions
captured by the body cameras. According to the Guardian pertaining to the use of body cameras
in police departments in Rialto, California, Police chief Farrar explains his position of body

nature, as an officer you act a bit more professional, follow the rules a bit better .
Accordingly, the inclusion of police body cameras can protect police officers from unjustified
allegations because there will be direct evidence of the encounter, in which can be referred to if need

The San Jose March For Science. For My Civic Engagement
The San Jose March for Science For my civic engagement assignment, I attended the San Jose
March for Science from San Jose city hall to the Plaza de Caesar Chavez. The March was in
organized primarily in response to the Trump administration s unfavorable views on science,
especially towards environmental science, and was held in conjunction with hundreds of other
marches attended by hundreds of thousands of people across the world. I ve never been the most
civically minded person so I was not quite sure what to expect when attending, but I think that I
gained a more personal understanding of the political and democratic aspect of environmental
citizenship. I arrived at the march slightly after it was underway, a few blocks away from San...

In layman s terms, Environmental citizenship is the idea that humans are part of the environment
and that as a result we should work to help the environment through day to day and political
actions. A parallel could be drawn to the idea of the Social Contract, where people give up
certain privileges and take on certain duties in order to be effectively governed as a part of a
greater society (Gough 2 3). Environmental citizens give up certain privileges such as littering or
using fossil fuels and take on duties like recycling or voting for environmentally friendly laws or
politicians in order to better the environment as a whole. Environmental Citizenship can be further
broken down into two rough categories: personal daily citizenship and large scale political
citizenship. Daily environmental citizenship refers to people following environmentally just laws
and performing environmentally conscious actions in daily lives, such as recycling, eating food
from environmentally friendly sources such as homegrown gardens, using eco friendly
transportation such electric cars or public transportation, and other similar activities. Political
environmental citizenship is when people participate in large scale political processes such as
voting, political demonstrations (such as the March that I attended) or protests and even running
for political office. Of course,

Lack Of Higher Education In The United States
Those pursuing higher education within the United States are facing financial obstacles and unfair
opportunity, especially pertaining to those living within poverty. Whether or not our upcoming
generations will be given the same, if not a greater opportunity towards higher education, is
dependent on our countries decision towards educational reform. Higher educationthrough the
spectrum of equal opportunity, is generating concern from both the public as well as the
government; and while the topic continues to be debated, the debt surrounding our countries
educational system continues to grow. The Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings has brought
this issue forward by creating a National Commission to address Higher Educationon a
governmental level; the National Commission is directing the attention towards the countries costs
and accountability pertaining to higher education.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The public perception seems to be paying their attention towards the concern of long term debt,
and that most individuals are now seeing higher education as more of a risk rather than a
possible advantage towards their future. The United States higher education system is failing the
people of this country by its ability to segregate the poor from the rich, and generate debt which
shows no signs of digression. The United States needs to address the problem of higher education
if we wish to continue to compete on a global scale. Education should be less about the money and
more about knowledge; the noble thing for our government to do would be to provide the
necessary resources for all individuals so they may pursue their intelligence with equal opportunity;
the individuals of this country have the right to be given a fair chance to educate themselves,

Essay on Mount Etna in Italy
1.0 Topic Definition
Volcanic Eruption, which means the sudden occurrence of a violent discharge of steam and
volcanic material, is one of the catastrophes in human history. It can devastate enormous areas, as
well as people. The eruption of the Vesuvius in AD 79 buried the cities of Herculaneum, Pompeii
and Stabiae with ashes and mud. (Oracle think quest) The majority of ancient volcanoes, like Mt.
Vesuvius in Italy and Mt. Tambora in Indonesia are all dormant volcanoes now. However, Mt. Etna,
which have been erupting for millions of years, still remaining active now. (Sicily Life) From 4

It begins with low level activity and continuous summit activity and a series of flank eruption are
following. The last phase is commonly the most voluminous. (Behncke, B., Neri, M., 2003) The
trend of Mt. Etna eruption is becoming similar to that of the 17th century.
Although Mt. Etna is said to eruption since 1500 BC, according to Michael Abrams, Remo
Bianchi and David Pieri, only historical records for the last 350 years are accurate. Records before
year 1650 are incomplete and controversial.
3.0 Science Organization
The eruption of Mt. Etna belongs to the volcanology, which is a study of volcanoes. It also relates
to geology in that the most convincing reason of the eruption of Mt. Etna is plate tectonic setting.
Mt. Etna is related to the subduction of the African plate under the Eurasian plate. (Jessica Ball)
There are also other theories explains the eruption, including rifting processes, a hot spot and
intersection of structural breaks in the crust. (Jessica Ball)
In order to predict the volcanic eruption, seismograph monitoring is often used. Seismograph
monitoring is the machine that creates seismograph which records the changing earth tremors
because of rising magma, which indicates volcanic eruption. (Oracle Think quest) As a result, the
eruption of Mt. Etna also associates with seismology. (See figure 2)

Bible Contradictions And Discrepancies In The Bible
The most important thing that I have learned about the Bible this week is Bible contradictions and
discrepancies. In my textbook it states that the Bible is the only book we can wholly trust
(Taylor,2009 ,p.52). What caught my attention to this topic is the apparent upright of former
believers in Christ no longer believe in the Bible. Social media has changed many people s thoughts
and belief in God. I have seen full debates on a status that a Christian has posted and an unbeliever
commented to tell the Christian that the Bible was untrue and they have evidence of the Bible
being false.
Learning about some of these alleged contradictions give me the knowledge to help others to know
the truth without fussing with an unbeliever. Because I

They pointed out that the decision would interfere with parties ability to negotiate any licensing

  • 2. Summary Of Oration On The Dignity Of Man 1a. Giovanni Pico della Mirandola says that human beings are free to become whatever or whomever they may choose to be. In his work, Oration on the Dignity of Man, Mirandola discusses how as a human being you have no limit or no bound and may choose for yourself the limits and bounds of your nature He believes that God created humans with no fixed position in life and that the choices they make during their journey will define whether they fall into high or low positions on the chain of life. 1b. Pico believes that human beings are free because they have the ability to choose their own paths. In Oration on the Dignity of Man, he states that we should not make that freedom of choice God gave us into something harmful, for it was intended to be to our advantage. Representing that God created us as free beings in having the freedom to choose. Later on in his work, he declares, Let a holy ambition enter into our souls; let us not be content with mediocrity, but rather strive after the highest and expend all our strength in achieving it. He regarded the most noble goal, the goal to reach the highest position, in union to god. To choose to be next to God was the greatest achievement. 1c. The ancient philosopher that was the most influential in Pico s beliefs was Plato. His influence guided him away from the focus on civic life that had been such a feature of earlier humanist thought and lead him to the belief than man could aspire to union with God through the ... • 3. My Father Only Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play The... After reading the short story, Because My Father Always Said He Was the Only Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play The Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock by Sherman Alexie, Alexie follows all six elements such as ideas, organization, voice, word choice, fluidity in sentences and last but not least, conversation. When looking at the Ideas of the short piece and how it was created, one of the most noticeable things is the revealing of the plot. Just by looking at the title you have an idea that the short piece will be about the relationship between the father and with Jimi Hendrix. Alexie reveals in the information in a chronological order as well as use bigger details that later explain the smaller details that were in the short piece. For example, in the beginning of the narrator... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alexie draws in the reader by first telling a short story about her father back in the 1970 s. Alexie then goes on in briefly telling the reader what prison was like for their father. Eventually moving on to how the father met the mother and the relationship they father and mother had. This is an interesting take on the way a child views their father and mother and how the father has craved freedom. The fluidity of this short piece is excellent, it is not choppy and it gives just enough detail without dragging the story out. It also helps that this piece is an easy read. One of the things that I enjoyed from the piece was the comparison to how Indians would live compared to different races mentioned in the piece. I though it gave the Victor the narrator some personality. Victor also does a lovely job on creating the images of what his parents and their relationship, as well as his love for his father. The analogy of Jimi Hendrix and freedom for the freedom was easy to pick up on, especially for when the father had bought himself a motorcycle and found the freedom he craved (something Jimi Hendrix heavily ... • 4. Robert Nozick s Experiment, The Experience Machine and the... The Experience Machine and the Inclusion of Meta Pleasure Robert Nozick is a philosopher who seeks to disprove the utilitarian notion of hedonism through a thought experiment that he has entitles The Experience Machine (Nozick 646). I will first explain the concept of utilitarianism and hedonism, then the experience machine before I give a reply about the inclusion of a third category of pleasure which I have called meta pleasure . Finally, I will show how technology may be disproving the entire experience machine thought experiment altogether. Utilitarianism is a moral theory that seeks to define right and wrong actions based solely on the consequences they produce. By utilitarian standards, an act is determined to be right if and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states that we desire, more so than pleasure, to live a life in contact with reality (Nozick 646). However, I am not convinced that this example on its own proves hedonism false. Perhaps the idea very idea of connecting to a machine and losing contact to reality is in itself painful to us, as it presents us with an existential crisis, and so we choose not to connect to avoid the painful thoughts associated with having one s mind controlled by a machine. Perhaps, there is a third category of pleasures that could be called meta pleasures that are the pleasures that come from knowing that we are in touch with reality and that what we are doing is having a real effect. Much like personal safety, meta pleasure is only tangible when it is threatened. We are not able to be aware of or feel our safety, we become aware of it only when it is threatened by something else, as is the case with meta pleasure. We only become aware of meta pleasure when something like an experience machine threatens our notion of the reality we are experiencing and suggests that our minds could be completely controlled by a machine. If meta pleasure is something that is real, then the experience machine thought experiment would only further prove hedonism because it shows that we will desire things which are pleasurable and avoid those that are painful. • 5. Effective Use Of Imagery In Marianne Moore s Poetry In Poetry , Marianne Moore explains that it is not that she does not like poetry, but it is the idea that poetry is simply not the same anymore. Poetry conveys ingenuity and candid ideas; it should be used to express one s authentic thoughts and feelings. Moore connects the use of imagery to expound on the interpretation that people do not appreciate or like what they do not understand. The poem purposely has no true structure, as it is written in free form with no rhymescheme or pattern. Moore shows her frustration with the addressed autocrats of literature and displays that by using an ironic tone in the composition of the poem. Through Moore s use of imagery, she highlights people s lack of originality and perspective. In the line Hands that can grasp, eyes that can dilate, hair that can rise if it must, these things are important not because a high sounding interpretation can be put upon them but because they are useful... (Moore 6), the speaker is stating one s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poem has a natural flow, exemplifying that poetry does not have to abide by a set of rules. People are used to thinking they must follow the clichГ© guidelines that poetry must rhyme, have a pattern, or a hidden meaning, and that simply is not true. The unrestrained arrangement of the poem connects with one of Moore s concluding lines, ...the raw material of poetry in all its rawness... (44). The speaker s use of enjambment represents the flow of her thoughts in the poem. Every word continued over the line break has its own emphasis. For example, there are only two periods in the poem, one in the first stanza and one at the very end. The period is placed in the quote, ...one discovers after it all, a place for the genuine. , which puts emphasis on the word genuine. Moore uses this to officially open the readers mind to genuine poetry, as after that point she provides justifications as to what makes it genuine with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Personal Narrative On Getting Chased By Goats This I Believe Getting chased by goats was a fun experience. I believe that being cautious and careful is incredibly important, and to not take warnings lightly. I believe this because being cautious could save your life and a life of another person. Also, taking warnings lightly could seriously mess things up for people and cause mild to serious injury. This event happened in San Rafael, Jalisco, Mexico a couple of summers ago. My mom had just us not to go out and play with the animals, I was maybe ten or eleven and wanted to go over to the goats to see and pet them. My younger brother, Demian, and my two cousins were also there, and they too wanted to pet the goats. The goats were in a rodeo like arena, so we could walk on top of the walls and get to a red platform overlooking the place. Personally, my favorite ambitious character would have to be Macduff. His story is something that everyone can admire and everyone can sympathize with. His ambitions are not to really improve himself or have success for himself, but the entirety of Scotland. He is very honorable and he would and did risk his own life for his country. When Duncan was king he was loyal to him and him alone, but when word spread that Macbeth had killed the kings so that he could become king Macduff could not bear to hear it. • 9. Racial Justice Of The United Church Of Christ Environmental racism is the targeting of minorities and low income communities to bear a disproportionate share of environmental costs. It refers to any policy or practice that differently affects or disadvantages individuals, groups or communities based on race or skin color (Schill Austin 1991). Pollutionis disproportionately distributed across the country; it is also distributed unequally within individual states, within counties, and within cities (Schill Austin 1991). Hazardous wastesites, municipal landfills, incinerators, and other hazardous facilities are disproportionately located in poor and minority neighborhoods (White Newsome 2016). Each year, America produces 275 million metric tons of hazardous waste. Environmental regulations only regulate 40 million tons of the waste leaving the rest to be sent to landfills and waste sites (White Newsome 2016). According to research done by The Commission for Racial Justice of the United Church of Christ, Zip code areas containing at least one hazardous waste site had, on average, 24% people of color, compared to 12% in areas without a hazardous waste site. Additionally, zip code areas containing either two or more facilities or one of the five largest hazardous waste landfills in the nation had, on average, 38% people of color (White Newsome 2016). • 12. Truman Doctrine And The Cold War The Cold War was one of the most peculiar occurrences in human history, which endured almost fifty years and all those years was the dominant characteristic of international relations. It was a period of indirect confrontation between two, at the time(1945 1989), most powerfull countries in the world the Soviet Unionand the United States of America. However, there is no exact and precise date of the beginning of the war, as it started gradually, with the contribution of many different causes. However, a common question usually arises: was the Truman Doctrine responsible for starting the Cold War? First of all, Truman doctrine and its objectives must be presented. The Truman doctrine was established in 1947, by the thirty third president of the United States Harry S. Truman. In the book The Truman Presidency the Truman doctrine was described as one of the most momentous events in international political relations of this century . The Truman Doctrine was necessary, as the communist push and constraint on Greece and Turkey menaced both of them with debacle. The main issue was, that if Turkey fell, Greece would collapse with her and vice versa. And if the USSR would break through these political barriers, the rest of Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and even India would be in peril. In other words there would be an obvious dominance of Communism, which could not be allowed, as it would disrupt the growing idyll of capitalism and democracy. The only way that ... Claude Monet, a famous French impression painter, sought to change these Victorian standards that he so resented with his Impressionist ideals. During an art exhibition in 1874, Monet debuted his painting Impression, Sunrise which was critiqued by many other artists. One artist acridly dubbed it the title of Impression in that it did not focus on the scene at hand but instead favored lighting. However, Monet did not let this get to him and in fact, let it drive him to push for change in the art community. Monet, despite finding a piece finished, would go back any time that he felt the work no longer matched his precedents. Although hard to tell from online images, Monet s works comprised of bountiful heaps of paint. • 15. Wasabi And Horseradish Similarities Wasabi and horseradish are often recommended as substitutes for each other and you may already be aware that wasabi is sometimes referred to as Japanese horseradish. Does this mean that they are the same thing? No, it does not. In fact, they have some differences that you should understand before choosing one over the other. We will examine those differences in the SPICEography Showdown below. How does wasabi differ from horseradish? The most obvious difference between these two condiments is the appearance of each. When prepared, wasabi has a pale green color; horseradish can range from beige to white. The next major difference is tricky different parts of each plant are consumed. While both are often referred to as roots, wasabi is actually a rhizome. As for horseradish, the root really is the part of the plant that is used to make the condiment. Atlantic Slave Trade Essay Being fully aware of the benefits of the slaves, the British elevated their importation and by the turn of the eighteenth century African slaves numbered in the tens of thousands in the British colonies (1). As the demands in tobacco increased, labor increased. Like the simple law of supply and demand. Ending of Royal African Company s monopoly in 1698 encouraged more traders to enter the slave business thus making African slaves more accessible (4). As a result of their increased expense, their masters were stringent and determined to get as much out of them as possible thereby working them mercilessly (Faragher 2009, p. 83). For instance, some urban merchants and artisans employed slaves in their shops, which exposed them to marketable skills (1). Further proving that slaves located in towns, withheld more freedom than the others in the cities. Now onto the treatment of women during this slave era. During the 1600 s laws were put in place pertaining to servant women and their illegitimate children (3). The law stated that women servants or slaves who conceived children with their masters will automatically experience an increase in their year of servitude. Since giving birth would mean any extra mouth to feed, the owners took it upon themselves to get the law passed. The masters can do whatever they please with them ,but woe betide the woman to get pregnant. Woe betide the woman to resist their master. Woe betide the woman to keep that child. The masters would sneak into the slaves quarters and rape them, yet they couldn t respond because the master was always right . Many thought of running away yet due to their dark skin, it was hard for slaves to escape from their owners and blend into the rest of the population. As number of slaves increased, lawmakers constructed legal codes for strictly controlling slave activities. Lawmakers therefore made sure that the slaves had absolutely no ... If you do not learn from your mistakes from the past, you will make the same mistakes again. Progress, far from consisting in change depends on retentiveness. This means in regards to history that progress does not depend on change but more on the ability to retain from pastexperience. When experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Some of the major drawbacks in protecting traditional knowledge with copyright are as follows: 1.Authorship: Under the Indian Copyright Law, protection is given to the author or owner of the work. Traditional Knowledge is community owned knowledge and is generally developed and evolved through generations to generation. In such case tracing the author of the traditional knowledge is not only difficult but almost impossible. 2.Protection for Limited Time: Indian copyright protection is time confined as in it is granted for a particular term of 60 years. The Berlin Wall was according to Rosenberg a physical division between West Berlin and East Germany in order to keep East Germans from fleeing to the West (Rosenberg). History always seems to repeat itself because even in modern times the usage of a wallto keep people from moving in large number is still viable. Nonetheless, like the Berlin wall and the Great Wall of Chinabefore that, wallsare just that walls and unfortunately they are not enough to keep individuals from getting to the other side. With the upcoming presidential elections in the United States there is a party member in particular who promises: that if elected will construct a wall separating The United States of America and its southern neighbor Mexico with a concrete wall. With this in mind, it is easy to write off the wall and guess at a rough estimate with dollars in mind but what is more important than money is how this wall would impact the surrounding areas where the wall itself is to be constructed. Not only that but if such a wall is to be built it will also have an everlasting impact on the local economies near the site. A necessary prerequisite for a full understanding of any species behavior includes possessing comprehensive knowledge of their respective sensory world. Here we attempted to determine the sensory threshold for a response to sweetness in both the flesh fly Sarcophaga bullata and Homo sapiens. Flies and humans alike were exposed to increasingly concentrated solutions of glucoseand monitored for a positive response, indicative of the detection of sweetness. Important takeaways from these studies indicate that members of the taxa tend to be most responsive to simple and sweet flavored carbohydrates (Dethier 1955, as quoted in Jakinovich et. al. 1971). However, taxa members responses to amino acids have been shown to be more subtle, if present at all, with Potter and Bertin (1988), for example, determining no significant response to a variety of amino acid solutions in S. bullata. Traditionally, experimental analysis of Homo sapiens taste thresholds has similarly focused on these two classes of biomolecules, with similar sweetness thresholds as those exhibited by members of the taxa Insecta being established in H. sapiens with respect to simple carbohydrates. • 41. Hate And Love, And American Values In America America is a driven nation in which everyone has different motivators which produce varied results in society and the lives of the Americans. Hate and love, as well as selfishness and selflessness are the primary motivators of individuals as they cause the most amount of passion and debate. Morals will impact these values and cause them to change to match the situation along with the feelings of the individual. At times, these values may contradict each other, such as hate and loveor selfishness versus selflessness, yet these contradictions are necessary for its inverse to exist. Without hate, love would not exist. Selfless actions could not be recognized if not for selfish actions. The effect morals have on the individual would go unobserved if there was not a range of beliefs. Although its values can contradict one another, American values are what drives America to the success that it praises itself for. Hate and love are seen as antonyms when in reality the two ideas come in a pair. In order to hate, one must have known love before for as it is impossible to hate something without caring about it in some form. It is very easy for love to develop into hate, and vice versa. Hate will lead to exclusion and bad choices while love will unify and bind the nation together, making it stronger. Although an individual s or a nation s goal may be for peace, the result can be hatred if proper steps laid out in Just War Theory are not taken. Just War Theory acknowledges that there ... In layman s terms, Environmental citizenship is the idea that humans are part of the environment and that as a result we should work to help the environment through day to day and political actions. Environmental citizens give up certain privileges such as littering or using fossil fuels and take on duties like recycling or voting for environmentally friendly laws or politicians in order to better the environment as a whole.
