Examples Of Greed In Avatar
Avatar tells a story about how the human race will go through great lengths to satisfy their constant
need for money and power. The film s theme of greed is very fitting to today s world as it relates to the
majority of us humans nature of always wanting to gain things for ourselves without observing what
the consequences will be for others and their future. This theme is shown in the film by how the
humans, who ve invaded the fictional planet Pandora, are willing to sabotage an entire village just so
they can gain money. A war occurs between the humans and the Na vi, the indigenous natives of
Pandora, because their village lies upon a large expanse of Unobtanium, a substance worth $20
million dollars per kilo. The humans don t care what sacrifices ... Show more content on

Jake, the film s protagonist, begins as a jar head marine oblivious to his commanders plan to eradicate
the Na vi s village. Though as the films storyline progresses, Jakes softer side of his personality is
introduced. He becomes accepted into the Na vi and is taught their way of life. We learn that the Na vi
are very much connected with their Mother Eywa , and always treat every organism with respect,
understanding all consequences. Jake soon realises that the Na vi are actually very peaceful, the
opposite of what he had been told, Indigenous population of humanoids here called the Na vi. They re
very fond of arrows dipped in a neurotoxin which can stop you re heart in one minute. We operate we
live at a constant threat. . Jake resists the human s temptation of greed and becomes one of the Na vi,
helping them and the conservation of their environment at all costs. This is one of the reasons I admire
Jake as a character as when he is first introduced in the film he portrays a character that only cares
about fighting and earning money, but as the story progresses the audience sees that spending time
with the Na vi has caused Jake to become a better person. This is because they have influenced his
thoughts and opinions, teaching him respect and to care for every organism as though it was

Poisonwood Bible Family Conflicts Essay
Poisonwood Bible Family Conflicts
All families have conflicts, and the Price family is no exception. Within the story there is an
overriding conflict regarding the Price women s opposition to the move to Africa. Beyond this, Nathan
has many other conflicts with each of his daughters. Leah and her father had a very different
relationship than the other three Price daughters. Leah is the only daughter that wholeheartedly
supports her father completely. As the story moves on she is faced with the harsh realities of daily life
in the Congo, and begins to see her Fathers faults. She soon wants to be her own person, and not be
controlled by her father. The major parent/child conflict arises when Nathan does not recognize his
daughter s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But without college how will I learn anything of any account to teach others? (150).
This quote shows how Leah starts to doubt her fathers ways, she is not flat out disobeying him but she
does not believe that his ideas are true. Leah wants to be independent, but it s hard for her to change
because she has been dependent on her father her entire life. In this quote Leah shows the reader how
much she has changed,
All my life I ve tried to set my shoes squarely in his footprints believing if only I stayed close enough
to him those same clean simple laws would rule my life as well... Yet with each passing day I find
myself farther away. (244) With each thing her father does including punishing her for her owl, and
losing his temper frequently, she finds her self more independent because she has her own thoughts
and beliefs that are different from her father.
The reason why Nathan and Leah have this conflict is because of Nathan s narrow mindedness and
lack of self awareness. The main purpose of The Poisonwood Bible is to show how different people
deal with guilt. Nathan however has no guilt, and this is the source of many conflicts with Leah.
Nathan has no self awareness. When he does something he never thinks of his family, he only thinks

MTSS Case Study
The lower leg consists of two bones: one large bone called the Tibia and one small bone called the
Fibula. The tibia is located on the anterior component of the leg and is the common place of pain for
individuals suffering Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome. Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS) also
referred to as Shin Splints (SS), is the most frequent overuse injury in the lower leg in endurance
running athletes and those of military personnel (Craig, 2008). MTSS, however, specifically refers to
the pain experienced on the posteromedial tibia border (inflammation of muscles, tendons, and bone
tissue around the tibia) while exercising. MTSS is the result of a repetitive action, especially in
individuals with overly pronated feet. Although, MTSS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because the specific etiology of MTSS is indefinable, it is difficult for health care professionals in
making treatment conclusions. There are five chief etiological theories for MTTS described in current
literature: fascial traction, tight and/or fatigued plantar flexors, tibial bending, lack of shock
absorption, and excessive pronation.
Bouche and Johnson investigated fascial traction, by inserting strain gauges in cadavers to measure
tension on the tibial fascial attachment at the medial tibial crest. The authors concluded that fascial
tension may play a role in the pathomechanics of MTSS, and circumferential taping did not dampen
this tension (Craig, 2009).
Milgrom et al investigated tight/fatigued plantar flexors by inserting strain gauge staples into the
medial aspect of 4 subjects midtibial diaphysis, then measured gastrocnemius isokinetic torque before
and after vigorous physical activity. The authors found a significant correlation between
gastrocnemius fatigue and an increase in bone strain. They concluded that a fatigued state of the
gastrocnemius increases bone strains in the tibia well above (26% 29%) those in rested individuals

Family Unit in Human Sociological Terms
Overview The Family Unit In human sociological terms, the family is described as a group of people
that have affinity traditionally, organized through husband, wife, and children and/or extended
relatives. This unit, called the nuclear family, was a historical organization that served economic and
cultural needs, educated children in societal behaviors, and offered stability. In the modern age,
however, families of all kinds exist. There may be one two, three or more parents involved in the child
s overall plan; those parents may be traditional, grandparents or care givers, same sex couples, or
multiple divorces, etc. We live in a diverse world, not just in the United States, but globally. Preparing
children for a leadership role in this world also requires that we take into account individual micro and
macro differences, celebrate those differences, and view the family as assisting in any way possible
the positive relationship of the community, the schools, and other resources to help those children
actualize (Hareven, 1991; Berman, 2010).
Carl Whitaker and Theory Carl Whitaker was one of the founding generation of family therapists. He
died in 1995, but his ideas, theories, and methods surrounding family therapy were seminal in
changing the focus from the individual to the family unit as a whole in therapy. His ideas were first
presented in a 1978 book, co written with Augustus Napier, called The Family Crucible. In this book,
Whitaker noted that overuse of theory can

Adam Rudd Case Summary
Case Narrative for Transfer of Adam Rudd to CCU
In the emergency room, Rudd was connected to the cardiac monitor, labs were drawn and a 20 guage
peripheral IV was started in the right arm. An IV infusion of nitroprusside was started and vital signs
were recorded periodically. The Pain was assessed using a PQRST pain assessment method and Rudd
rates throbbing pain bilaterally in the head with a pain score of 8 that aggravates with moving and
does not radiate to elsewhere other than the head. The orthostatic BP shows no changes. The E.D
physician decides to admit Rudd in CCU to further monitor his blood pressure and watch for any signs

Questions:
1) Was Philly`s behavior appropriate when entering Rudd`s room?
Philly should have knocked on the door, before entering into patient`s room. She should have then
greeted and introduced herself and the student nurse to Rudd. She should have then started the
conversation by addressing him by his name. She should have also enquired about his pain. Philly
should have finished her shift assessment and should have assured him that she will come back with
the morning medications and then left the room. The behavior was very unprofessional.

Essay on Robert Jensens Patriotism
Many people believe that they are patriotic people. But, what truly makes one patriotic? In Saying
Goodbye to Patriotism Robert Jensen critiques the effects of patriotism on today s modern society, the
United States, and globalization after the attacks on 9/11. Jensen defines patriotism in his talk
delivered to the Peace Action National Congress as love and loyal or zealous support of one s own
country. (Jensen 741) But, that is not the only definition of patriotism. One may love living in the
United States so does that make them patriotic? Patriotism is probably one of the hardest words to
define in today s society.
Jensen presents two alternative definitions of patriotism in his speech. The first one suggests that
patriotism is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the leaders of the country just keep creating policies and the majority of the citizens just accept
them as they are, then this country really isn t that big of a democracy as one may think it is.
In Jensen s talk, he also gives a quote of Emma Goldman s that states, Patriotism assumes that our
globe is divided into little spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who had the fortune of
being born on some particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, and more intelligent
than the living beings inhabiting any other spot. It is, therefore, the duty of everyone living on that
chosen spot to fight, kill, and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all others. This sounds
a lot more like what patriotism is today. War is something that has always existed and even in this
modern day in age, it is still considered the best way to resolve conflict. Jensen feels war in
Afghanistan is barbaric because of the fact that people seem to think that their lives are more valuable
than Afghanistan citizens and if innocent Afghans have to die then so be it to achieve the goals of the
United States. But, are the goals of the United States truly patriotic? What are the real goals of the
United States as it embarks on a new war on Iraq? From an Afghani American s standpoint Tamim
Ansary compares modern day Afghanistan to Nazi Germany and he does a pretty good comparison
when he states; When you think Taliban, think Nazis. When you think bin

Essay On The Movie Stagecoach
Stagecoach Film Review
I find the film Stagecoach to be a top level film of its time and a leading Western to this day, which
came to set a new standard for Western films. Stagecoach didn t stick to the norm of the time, where
Western movies were considered low grade and appealed to young boys, it exceeded people s
expectations. As Film theorist Andre Bazin wrote of Stagecoach , it is the ideal example of the
maturity of a style brought to classic perfection. Many things in Stagecoach were upgraded from
previous films of its genre, from the level that the story delves into the characters journey in the
stagecoach, to the location that it was filmed at. First of all, the story wasn t simply a good guy/bad
guy conflict, it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the movie you have the three basic camera angles used, which include the low angle or ground level
angle, eye level angle, and the high camera angle. The ground level angle emphasizes the seriousness
and drama of the moment. it is taken from below the character and can make a character or object look
threatening. The eye level angle is simply shot at the same level as a character is more of a normal
shot which has little effect on the viewer. Lastly, theres the high angle camera shot which is shot above
the subject and looks down upon them. It can build suspense, prevent the viewer from seeing details,
and most commonly in this film it is used to make a subject look small or weak. Most of the responses
viewers have from the different camera angles depend on the emotional content and action of a given
scene. They can be used differently in all films, but the different camera angles are commonly used for
an array of expressive purposes, which include conveying information about a character s view of the
world and accompanying emotions. The camera angle can also complicate emotional responses by
playing against our visual responses that we have with the

Secure Under Roman Rule, Sadducees were Influential in...
The Sadducees were a very influential group in Judaism, many being priests (Wenham and Walton
40). There was no worry to the Sadducees of losing their position because it was secure under Roman
rule (Wenham and Walton 41). Their beliefs were different from the Pharisees in that they did not
practice oral traditions, that is verbally telling the stories of the Scriptures. Even though they accepted
the Old Testament scriptures, they only practiced the beliefs that were in the Pentateuch, which is the
first five books from the Old Testament (Murphy 239; Wenham and Walton 42). Another underlying
belief the Sadducees had was their disbelief in resurrection as well as they did not believe in fate
(Evans 100; Wenham and Walton 42). Furthermore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, they had the belief that God would only redeem the Essenes. This is shown in writings
of the Dead Sea Scrolls where it says Through an upright and humble attitude his sin may be covered,
and by humbling himself before all God s laws his flesh can be made clean. Only thus can he really
receive the purifying waters and be purged by the cleansing flow (Evans 250 251). The Essenes saw
that they were the only Jews who were acting upon the purity laws rightly, and therefore were the only
people whom God would redeem. In part of their law they state, only the pure may enter to take a
place in the congregation of the men of reputation (Evans 243). Prayer was very important to the
Essenes (Evans 239). This is shown through the many different types of prayers practiced such as
Festival, Mealtime, and Morning Prayers (Evans 239 241). Furthermore, songs of worship to God
were also very important to them.
During Jesus s time on earth, many people were expectant of a messiah who would be human, despite
what the Old Testament said about the messiah being divine. (Evans 308). Though this is not to say
that some people did expect a divine messiah, because many did, leading some to worship and
divinize their rulers (Evans 309 311). Furthermore, when people knew he was the Messiah, Jesus told
them not to tell anyone, as they had to find out for themselves (Mark 8:2 30; Thomson). This is
because he wanted them to realize this on their own. In Mark 8, right after

Essay on Racism and The Latino Community
In this world we are constantly being categorized by our race and ethnicity, and for many people it s
hard to look beyond that. Even though in the past many stood up for equality and to stop racism and
discrimination, it still occurs. In this nation of freedom and equality, there are still many people who
believe that their race is superior to others. These beliefs are the ones that destroy our nation and affect
the lives of many. The people affected are not limited by their age group, sex, social status, or by their
education level. Their beliefs can cause them to attack other groups verbally or in silence and even
reaching to the point of violence. All of this occurs because we can t be seen as a people , but rather

These racist groups take advantage especially of the illegal Latino population in doing these things,
because they believe they have no rights due to their illegal status here in the United States. Also these
groups know that many of these Hispanics will not go to police to report these incidents of
discrimination and abuse, because they are fearful that in doing so they might get deported. They also
discriminate the legal Latinos, because in their eyes they are the same as the illegal ones. The article
also portrays the horrific actions of discrimination racist extremist do against Latinos. Eviatar reports
the examples of the abuse by stating, a young mother was arrested and jailed when she asked to be
paid for her work in a Tennessee cheese factory; a migrant bean picker whose life savings were
confiscated by police during a traffic stop, and a rapist in Georgia going unpunished because his 13
year old victim is undocumented (par 3). The hate they feel towards this minority group, cause them to
commit acts that are unjustifiable. They inflict pain and psychological suffering to Hispanics. This
behavior is the cause racism, that as you see can harm to other ethnicities at a great level. Racialism
also comes to play in this case, because these groups believe that they are biologically superior to
Hispanics and other ethnicities and races as well. Our race does not make us superior to others, yet
they still believe in that it does. Enculturation

Fairness, Open Mindedness And Neutrality
Professionals in the United States Army stand apart from others involved in particular careers in the
civilian world. Whereas many vocations contain some of the characteristics of a professional, a lot of
careers do not include all of the necessary to differentiate themselves as being as close to a
professional as a United States soldier. Professionalism grows depending on the time and service that
the individual has in the Army.
A professional is said to have specialized knowledge and skill which can only be acquired through
persistent education and experience. Such skill and experience form the basis of objective standards of
proficient competence that separate the practicing professional from their peers and measure the
proficiency of such professionalism. This professional knowledge must also be intellectual in nature.
Soldiers are required to accept responsibility for their actions and resulting consequences. This
includes avoiding even the appearance of offensiveness. Accountability promotes careful, well thought
out decision making and limits thoughtless action. Fairness, open mindedness and neutrality are
important aspects of fairness. Soldiers must be committed to justice in the performance of their
official duties. Decisions must not be illogical, impulsive, or biased. Individuals must be treated
equally and with tolerance.
Such professional is the paratrooper. Paratroopers are military parachutists military personnel trained

My First Day At University Of Illinois Chicago, At An...
To Insure Promptness My first day as a valet was like no other. I worked a party at University of
Illinois Chicago, at an investment firm Christmas party. I walked away $200 cash in my pocket, a free
gourmet dinner and was allowed to watch a private performance by Pitbull. It was something I never
anticipated, and something that never happened again. I was immediately given an extremely high
expectation of a regular day of work. After a year working at the company, I have yet to work another
night that fruitful. Cold hard reality has set in. I realized the inconsistency in the service industry
really fast. It was incredible. One night I could afford a lobster dinner, the next I would be eating a
McDouble. I couldn t imagine having to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point, no one in wants to have a career in the service industry and rightfully so, tipped workers
are two times more likely to fall into poverty (Allegretto). This fact is extremely alarming and clearly
something needs to be done to reduce that rate. As I researched into this topic, two options become
clear: either eliminate tips altogether or develop a way to insure everyone walks away with a
respectable amount of money in their pocket to go home and feed their family with. When Eliminating
tips without an appropriate gratuity already present on the bill, worker motivation and quality of the
service is decreased within restaurants (Rodriguez). This is also consistent with my personal
experience, valets run a lot slower or don t even run when no tips are at stake. Therefor most of the
attention has gone into determining what goes into a tip. There are hundreds of studies that look at
every variable imaginable, from weather to race, to car color. It s all been analyzed. Yet apparently it s
still a mystery for most. There are still so many questions on what goes into a tip in the service
industry. But through personal experience and various studies, it s easy to conclude that if you want a
big tip, customer service is where to look, but there are small factors that can slightly influence the
amount of each tip such as gender, race and whether they have previously worked in the service
industry.

Long Walk Research Paper
The Long Walk was the forced removal of the Navajo people, which began in January 1864 in the
Arizona and New Mexico states. It was hardly recognized by Americans at the time because of the
Civil War and the slavery issues that were so much more important in the North and South part of the
country. The Long Walk is the Navajo Nation s own Trail of Tears . More than 8,500 Navajo men,
women, and children were forced to relocate to an internment camp in New Mexico called the Bosque
Redondo Reservation. The Navajo and some Apache were gathered from Arizona and New Mexico
and had to walk between 375 498 miles depending on which route they took (Remley, pg 230). Along
the way, about 200 people died. Once there the military found that twice the number of people that
they expected came.
For the Navajo people today, it is said that the Long Walk was one of the hardest times in their history.
The Long Walk started in early spring of 1864 and did not end until 1868. At first, it was the Spaniards
who wanted the vast amount of Navajo land hoping to find gold there. Americans then wanted to

They were not used to eating such foods and this also caused them to feel ill. A lot of the food was

In the story Jane talked about how many former slaves as well as herself do not cry much anymore

Introduction
The best selling novel, The Time Machine, is written by H.G. Wells. H.G. Wells is also known as The
Father of Science Fiction. Wells has written many books that has influenced our vision of the future,
The Time Machine, being his first and foremost novel. The Time Machine is the story of the Time
Traveler who invents the machine, his adventures while traveling, and his recounting of the tale to the
narrator and friends gathered in his home.
Key Idea 1 The beginning of the book is very intriguing, pulling readers into the book and making
them want to read more. The book begins in the Time Traveler s home, where he and his guests are
having dinner and discussing his theories about time and time travel. When the Time Traveler tells the
guests he can actually do it, they are skeptical. The Time Traveler s colleagues bombard him with
protestations and thought provoking questions. This part of the book makes the reader wonder what
the outcome of time traveling might be but it is obvious that the Time Traveler wholeheartedly
believes in time travel.
Key Idea 2 In a moment my hand was on the lever and I had placed a month between myself and these
monsters. What a classic, wonderfully imaginative science fiction sentence. The story is completely
and utterly engrossing. The fact that the book was published in 1895 and science lovers can still love

Extension activities were therefore directed towards increasing efficiency in crop production and
marketing. Regulations were made to set and enforce standards in export crop production.
The colonial government also established some agricultural development schemes to upgrade the
skills of farmers and to produce agricultural commodities. The Kware irrigation scheme was
established in 1926. It was situated 16miles or 25.74 kilometres north of Sokoto town. Its purposes
were to increase rice yields and provide experimental data on production under severe drought during
dry season and flooding during the rains. The scheme started with 1000 acres or 405 hectares
involving 800 farmers with farms situated along the river banks. The irrigation scheme employed the
shadoof which is an ancient Egyptian technique, also used by the Sudanese. The scheme did not attain
much of its objectives because (a) the irrigation scheme (shardoof) was inadequate on large farms; (b)
it is a slow technique of irrigation; (c) it was difficult to collect cost of services from users; (d) in
1943, 1945 and 1954, river Rima over flooded and washed away most of the rice crop; and (e) use of
manure was not popular among the farmers.
The colonial period also witnessed the establishment of the Niger Agricultural project in 1949 with the

preserve and see the beauty of nature. Instead of building upon it. The start of the Industrialization in
Britain brought factories, buildings, and a newly built world. This shifted the focus from living from
nature to living away from it. Wordsworth explains it as, getting and spending, we lay waste our
powers: little we see in nature that is ours (359). Nature has become a separate existence from the one
that had been created by industrialization. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which quickly spread and became all consuming. The social changes that were taking place brought a
new attitude. Gone was the slow moving life of rural living replaced by urban living. Urbanization
gave an urgency to the people. An attitude of greed for more growth, production, and spending. It
made many jobs, but it also left many unemployed. This was due to hiring unskilled workers for cheap
and leaving skilled workers still searching for jobs. Leaving many lower class people unsatisfied and
living in an increasingly dismal conditions. These negative changes left Wordsworth dispirited. He
understood the importance of enjoying the outside world away from these dismal conditions. To enjoy
views such as the sea that bares her bosom to the moon or the winds that will be howling at all hours .
Views that give peace and comfort. Away from the growing materialistic attitude of Britain society.
This newly embraced capitalist mode of production, which flourished under a rhetoric of improvement
(27), gave more trouble than improvement. Starting from the factories, the attitude of instant
gratification spread to the citizens. Needs and wants were met easily when the money was there. The
joys of going outside were to purchase a new item or to see how much the city had

The Macondo Blowout
The Macondo Blowout occurred on April 20, 2010 and caused over four million barrels of crude oil,
hydrocarbons, to spill into the Gulf of Mexico (Peterson et al.). This event is also known as the
Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Subsequently, hydrocarbon plumes formed from the oil spill and with the
natural water plumes that feed many corals, causing concern for coral communities from many
researchers, so investigations were made to inquire about the health of coral communities nearby
(Fisher et al. 796). Results showed that over half of coral communities within twenty kilometers of the
explosion site displayed signs of harm (Fisher et al. 297). The effects of Deepwater Horizon oil spill
were displayed in the coral population near the Macondo

Analysis Of Jean-Jacques Rousseau s The Origin Of Civil...
French philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau says in his essay The Origin of Civil Society, man is not
free, and everywhere he is in chains. He expresses in this essay on how upon entering society, man is
not free and is changed, externally and internally. Rousseau claims that nature is a man s true state
before being negatively influenced by outside forces. The quote says that people willingly make social
contracts, in which they have agreed to live in a place that governs the populace and limit their
freedoms. But to Rousseau, this is something that doesn t happen naturally. In his quote, Rousseau
meant that man truly leads a free and unrestricted life until he enters society and how he becomes
civilized, but, in a sense, becomes a hypocrite and doesn t listen to his conscience. He describes that a
man is born inherently good but becomes corrupt. However, as societal structures developed, people
gave up their autonomy and free will, and modern society interfered with people s ability to live freely
in the state of nature. Rousseau s idea was that it was madness for people to forfeit their natural
freedom for a state in which they lived without freedom. He argued that people should have the right
to choose the government and laws that rule them. He also said that people do not have to obey
governments that rule with force or governments that they have not chosen. By saying man is
becoming corrupt, it is meant that the man is [giving up] his essential manhood, his rights, and even
his duty as a human being. It is his personal judgement on whether people are being seen as overall
good. Rousseau believed once leaving nature, a man becomes corrupt once entering society and
experiencing social norms and corruption within the society. He loses free will and upon realization,
man will start living an artificial life. As man enters society, Rousseau describes as if the man becomes
a slave, yet the man was born free. He begins to bear several chains based off of prejudice, caste,
creed, and color set loose on him by society. These chains are implemented on what people believe to
be commonly and morally acceptable. The man begins to focus more on being perfect rather than
being true to themselves

Cherokee Indian Removal Analysis
The Cherokee Nation flourished in 1838 through Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina.
They had their own newspaper, The Cherokee Phoenix, they grew corn and cotton, raised hogs and
cattle, and they lived in log houses. The Cherokee Indians lived in peace, up until October of 1838.
Cherokees were forced out of their homes and held at gunpoint by 7,000 soldiers, an order from
President Martin Van Buren who was pressured by Georgia. Eighteen thousand Indians were pressured
to march from Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina to the Indian territory in present day
Oklahoma. Approximately 4,000 Cherokee Indians, mostly children and the elderly, died on this
march which became known as Nunahi Duna Dlo Hilu I or trail ... Show more content on

It is not known how many died on the journey, but the trip was especially hard on infants, children,
and the elderly. Missionary doctor Elizur Butler, who accompanied the Cherokees, estimated that over
4,000 died nearly one fifth of the Cherokee population. Some slaves also died on the Trail of Tears. In
the end, the U.S. government never even paid the $5 million promised to the Cherokees in the Treaty
of New Echota. The Cherokee Nation tried to adapt to the new environment and re established their
own system of government, similar to that of the United States. John Ross was elected as the Principal
Chief of the reconstituted Cherokee Nation.
The Trail of Tears was a devastating forced march of 800 miles of the Cherokee Nation. Andrew
Jackson strongly believed that the removal of Indians from the east would benefit the nation and the
Cherokees. In reality, only the United States benefited from the removal and many Cherokees suffered
and died and, in the end, did not get what they were promised. Even then the Cherokees remained
strong, kept their beliefs, and continued to

attention of the people because of interest that is set from all sorts of media. It has come to the

found out what has been going on with the cyber aspect of the world. In order to expand your

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Living Conditions
In The Boy in Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, the conditions and characteristics of life in Auschwitz
are atrocious and perilous to the Jews. The quality of life that is present in the surroundings is
appalling and unlivable that it resembles a prison. Bruno, the main protagonist, despises living outside
of the camp, which he describes the camp to be made up of nothing but a tall fence and the wooden
telegraph poles and the barbed wire bales (p.94). The lack of certain basic necessities and the prison
like environment reflects not only the physical conditions but also in the physical appearances of the
people who live there, especially the Jewish population. As a matter of fact, Shmuel, a Jewish detainee

During these last thirteen weeks, I have discovered a lot about myself, not only as a student, but as a
feminist. Before taking this class, I knew that I wanted to be a feminist. I believed that women should
stand up and exercise their rights to be equal to men on every level. Be that as it may, I lacked the
education required to develop my own sense of feminism my feminist manifesto, if you will. When
approaching the topic of feminism, every person needs to ask themselves a list of questions: Who am
I? Who do I want to be? What has influenced me as a person? How can I help? These are the
beckoning questions we, as developing and purposeful human beings, ask ourselves every day, and
these are the questions that will lead each and every person

The Drummer Boy Of Shiloh Literary Analysis
The 1860s was a time where young boys were stripped away their youth and innocence and force to
grow up way too fast. Many battles were fought during this time period, fields were scattered with
lifeless bodies of young boys who never got to experience life. An historical fiction titled, The
Drummer Boy of Shiloh , by Ray Bradbury gives us a clear insight of a confused young boy whose
youth was ripped away from him. The story evolves around an adolescent male named Joby, who
questions his purpose and bravery the night before a big battle. He believes that except from his drum,
he has no one else. It s not until his General comes along that night does he truly gain his confidence.
He starts to finally realize just how important he can be to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To show just how unprepared for the war boys like Joby are the author uses wild horses as a symbol.
Well, when you got a bunch of wild horses on a loose rein somewhere (pg 171) The wild horses are
interpreted as the young boys in the army. Because wild horses in real life are disorganized and
confused, the author compares the young boys dragged into the war as disorganized and confused. The
symbolization of wild and confused relates to my life due to the fact that, there are definitely times
when certain aspects adults understand are misinterpreted to me differently. An equally important
symbol recognized in this section of the book is on page 170, The General stopped and made a little
pile of winter leaves and twigs in the darkness. Twigs and leaves can be used to make a fire. Fire can
symbolize both joy regarding its brightness, but also danger and war. The twigs and leaves can act as
light leading the soldiers out of the darkness of the battle they re about to embark upon. The battle of
Shiloh, in which both Joby and the General are about participate in can go both ways just like the
twigs and leaves. It can result in extreme destruction and danger, or can be marked as a triumphant
battle for them. Certainly, the symbolization of fire often comes in my life. The reason why is that
every choice in your life can impact your life one way or the other. It can result in something bright
and joyful or something frightening and

  • 2. Examples Of Greed In Avatar Avatar tells a story about how the human race will go through great lengths to satisfy their constant need for money and power. The film s theme of greed is very fitting to today s world as it relates to the majority of us humans nature of always wanting to gain things for ourselves without observing what the consequences will be for others and their future. This theme is shown in the film by how the humans, who ve invaded the fictional planet Pandora, are willing to sabotage an entire village just so they can gain money. A war occurs between the humans and the Na vi, the indigenous natives of Pandora, because their village lies upon a large expanse of Unobtanium, a substance worth $20 million dollars per kilo. The humans don t care what sacrifices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jake, the film s protagonist, begins as a jar head marine oblivious to his commanders plan to eradicate the Na vi s village. Though as the films storyline progresses, Jakes softer side of his personality is introduced. He becomes accepted into the Na vi and is taught their way of life. We learn that the Na vi are very much connected with their Mother Eywa , and always treat every organism with respect, understanding all consequences. Jake soon realises that the Na vi are actually very peaceful, the opposite of what he had been told, Indigenous population of humanoids here called the Na vi. They re very fond of arrows dipped in a neurotoxin which can stop you re heart in one minute. We operate we live at a constant threat. . Jake resists the human s temptation of greed and becomes one of the Na vi, helping them and the conservation of their environment at all costs. This is one of the reasons I admire Jake as a character as when he is first introduced in the film he portrays a character that only cares about fighting and earning money, but as the story progresses the audience sees that spending time with the Na vi has caused Jake to become a better person. This is because they have influenced his thoughts and opinions, teaching him respect and to care for every organism as though it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Poisonwood Bible Family Conflicts Essay Poisonwood Bible Family Conflicts All families have conflicts, and the Price family is no exception. Within the story there is an overriding conflict regarding the Price women s opposition to the move to Africa. Beyond this, Nathan has many other conflicts with each of his daughters. Leah and her father had a very different relationship than the other three Price daughters. Leah is the only daughter that wholeheartedly supports her father completely. As the story moves on she is faced with the harsh realities of daily life in the Congo, and begins to see her Fathers faults. She soon wants to be her own person, and not be controlled by her father. The major parent/child conflict arises when Nathan does not recognize his daughter s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But without college how will I learn anything of any account to teach others? (150). This quote shows how Leah starts to doubt her fathers ways, she is not flat out disobeying him but she does not believe that his ideas are true. Leah wants to be independent, but it s hard for her to change because she has been dependent on her father her entire life. In this quote Leah shows the reader how much she has changed, All my life I ve tried to set my shoes squarely in his footprints believing if only I stayed close enough to him those same clean simple laws would rule my life as well... Yet with each passing day I find myself farther away. (244) With each thing her father does including punishing her for her owl, and losing his temper frequently, she finds her self more independent because she has her own thoughts and beliefs that are different from her father. The reason why Nathan and Leah have this conflict is because of Nathan s narrow mindedness and lack of self awareness. The main purpose of The Poisonwood Bible is to show how different people deal with guilt. Nathan however has no guilt, and this is the source of many conflicts with Leah. Nathan has no self awareness. When he does something he never thinks of his family, he only thinks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. MTSS Case Study The lower leg consists of two bones: one large bone called the Tibia and one small bone called the Fibula. The tibia is located on the anterior component of the leg and is the common place of pain for individuals suffering Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome. Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS) also referred to as Shin Splints (SS), is the most frequent overuse injury in the lower leg in endurance running athletes and those of military personnel (Craig, 2008). MTSS, however, specifically refers to the pain experienced on the posteromedial tibia border (inflammation of muscles, tendons, and bone tissue around the tibia) while exercising. MTSS is the result of a repetitive action, especially in individuals with overly pronated feet. Although, MTSS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because the specific etiology of MTSS is indefinable, it is difficult for health care professionals in making treatment conclusions. There are five chief etiological theories for MTTS described in current literature: fascial traction, tight and/or fatigued plantar flexors, tibial bending, lack of shock absorption, and excessive pronation. Bouche and Johnson investigated fascial traction, by inserting strain gauges in cadavers to measure tension on the tibial fascial attachment at the medial tibial crest. The authors concluded that fascial tension may play a role in the pathomechanics of MTSS, and circumferential taping did not dampen this tension (Craig, 2009). Milgrom et al investigated tight/fatigued plantar flexors by inserting strain gauge staples into the medial aspect of 4 subjects midtibial diaphysis, then measured gastrocnemius isokinetic torque before and after vigorous physical activity. The authors found a significant correlation between gastrocnemius fatigue and an increase in bone strain. They concluded that a fatigued state of the gastrocnemius increases bone strains in the tibia well above (26% 29%) those in rested individuals (Craig, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Family Unit in Human Sociological Terms Overview The Family Unit In human sociological terms, the family is described as a group of people that have affinity traditionally, organized through husband, wife, and children and/or extended relatives. This unit, called the nuclear family, was a historical organization that served economic and cultural needs, educated children in societal behaviors, and offered stability. In the modern age, however, families of all kinds exist. There may be one two, three or more parents involved in the child s overall plan; those parents may be traditional, grandparents or care givers, same sex couples, or multiple divorces, etc. We live in a diverse world, not just in the United States, but globally. Preparing children for a leadership role in this world also requires that we take into account individual micro and macro differences, celebrate those differences, and view the family as assisting in any way possible the positive relationship of the community, the schools, and other resources to help those children actualize (Hareven, 1991; Berman, 2010). Carl Whitaker and Theory Carl Whitaker was one of the founding generation of family therapists. He died in 1995, but his ideas, theories, and methods surrounding family therapy were seminal in changing the focus from the individual to the family unit as a whole in therapy. His ideas were first presented in a 1978 book, co written with Augustus Napier, called The Family Crucible. In this book, Whitaker noted that overuse of theory can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She should have then greeted and introduced herself and the student nurse to Rudd. She should have then started the conversation by addressing him by his name. • 7. Essay on Robert Jensens Patriotism Many people believe that they are patriotic people. But, what truly makes one patriotic? In Saying Goodbye to Patriotism Robert Jensen critiques the effects of patriotism on today s modern society, the United States, and globalization after the attacks on 9/11. Jensen defines patriotism in his talk delivered to the Peace Action National Congress as love and loyal or zealous support of one s own country. (Jensen 741) But, that is not the only definition of patriotism. One may love living in the United States so does that make them patriotic? Patriotism is probably one of the hardest words to define in today s society. Jensen presents two alternative definitions of patriotism in his speech. The first one suggests that patriotism is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the leaders of the country just keep creating policies and the majority of the citizens just accept them as they are, then this country really isn t that big of a democracy as one may think it is. In Jensen s talk, he also gives a quote of Emma Goldman s that states, Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who had the fortune of being born on some particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, and more intelligent than the living beings inhabiting any other spot. It is, therefore, the duty of everyone living on that chosen spot to fight, kill, and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all others. This sounds a lot more like what patriotism is today. War is something that has always existed and even in this modern day in age, it is still considered the best way to resolve conflict. Jensen feels war in Afghanistan is barbaric because of the fact that people seem to think that their lives are more valuable than Afghanistan citizens and if innocent Afghans have to die then so be it to achieve the goals of the United States. But, are the goals of the United States truly patriotic? What are the real goals of the United States as it embarks on a new war on Iraq? From an Afghani American s standpoint Tamim Ansary compares modern day Afghanistan to Nazi Germany and he does a pretty good comparison when he states; When you think Taliban, think Nazis. • 8. Essay On The Movie Stagecoach Stagecoach Film Review I find the film Stagecoach to be a top level film of its time and a leading Western to this day, which came to set a new standard for Western films. Stagecoach didn t stick to the norm of the time, where Western movies were considered low grade and appealed to young boys, it exceeded people s expectations. As Film theorist Andre Bazin wrote of Stagecoach , it is the ideal example of the maturity of a style brought to classic perfection. Many things in Stagecoach were upgraded from previous films of its genre, from the level that the story delves into the characters journey in the stagecoach, to the location that it was filmed at. First of all, the story wasn t simply a good guy/bad guy conflict, it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the movie you have the three basic camera angles used, which include the low angle or ground level angle, eye level angle, and the high camera angle. The ground level angle emphasizes the seriousness and drama of the moment. it is taken from below the character and can make a character or object look threatening. The eye level angle is simply shot at the same level as a character is more of a normal shot which has little effect on the viewer. Lastly, theres the high angle camera shot which is shot above the subject and looks down upon them. It can build suspense, prevent the viewer from seeing details, and most commonly in this film it is used to make a subject look small or weak. Most of the responses viewers have from the different camera angles depend on the emotional content and action of a given scene. They can be used differently in all films, but the different camera angles are commonly used for an array of expressive purposes, which include conveying information about a character s view of the world and accompanying emotions. The camera angle can also complicate emotional responses by playing against our visual responses that we have with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Secure Under Roman Rule, Sadducees were Influential in... The Sadducees were a very influential group in Judaism, many being priests (Wenham and Walton 40). There was no worry to the Sadducees of losing their position because it was secure under Roman rule (Wenham and Walton 41). Their beliefs were different from the Pharisees in that they did not practice oral traditions, that is verbally telling the stories of the Scriptures. Even though they accepted the Old Testament scriptures, they only practiced the beliefs that were in the Pentateuch, which is the first five books from the Old Testament (Murphy 239; Wenham and Walton 42). Another underlying belief the Sadducees had was their disbelief in resurrection as well as they did not believe in fate (Evans 100; Wenham and Walton 42). Furthermore, ... This is shown in writings of the Dead Sea Scrolls where it says Through an upright and humble attitude his sin may be covered, and by humbling himself before all God s laws his flesh can be made clean. Only thus can he really receive the purifying waters and be purged by the cleansing flow (Evans 250 251). The Essenes saw that they were the only Jews who were acting upon the purity laws rightly, and therefore were the only people whom God would redeem. In part of their law they state, only the pure may enter to take a place in the congregation of the men of reputation (Evans 243). Prayer was very important to the Essenes (Evans 239). This is shown through the many different types of prayers practiced such as Festival, Mealtime, and Morning Prayers (Evans 239 241). Furthermore, songs of worship to God were also very important to them. During Jesus s time on earth, many people were expectant of a messiah who would be human, despite what the Old Testament said about the messiah being divine. (Evans 308). Though this is not to say that some people did expect a divine messiah, because many did, leading some to worship and divinize their rulers (Evans 309 311). Furthermore, when people knew he was the Messiah, Jesus told them not to tell anyone, as they had to find out for themselves (Mark 8:2 30; Thomson). Even though in the past many stood up for equality and to stop racism and discrimination, it still occurs. In this nation of freedom and equality, there are still many people who believe that their race is superior to others. These beliefs are the ones that destroy our nation and affect the lives of many. The people affected are not limited by their age group, sex, social status, or by their education level. These racist groups take advantage especially of the illegal Latino population in doing these things, because they believe they have no rights due to their illegal status here in the United States. Also these groups know that many of these Hispanics will not go to police to report these incidents of discrimination and abuse, because they are fearful that in doing so they might get deported. They also discriminate the legal Latinos, because in their eyes they are the same as the illegal ones. The article also portrays the horrific actions of discrimination racist extremist do against Latinos. Eviatar reports the examples of the abuse by stating, a young mother was arrested and jailed when she asked to be paid for her work in a Tennessee cheese factory; a migrant bean picker whose life savings were confiscated by police during a traffic stop, and a rapist in Georgia going unpunished because his 13 year old victim is undocumented (par 3). The hate they feel towards this minority group, cause them to commit acts that are unjustifiable. They inflict pain and psychological suffering to Hispanics. This behavior is the cause racism, that as you see can harm to other ethnicities at a great level. Racialism also comes to play in this case, because these groups believe that they are biologically superior to Hispanics and other ethnicities and races as well. • 12. Fairness, Open Mindedness And Neutrality Professionals in the United States Army stand apart from others involved in particular careers in the civilian world. Whereas many vocations contain some of the characteristics of a professional, a lot of careers do not include all of the necessary to differentiate themselves as being as close to a professional as a United States soldier. Professionalism grows depending on the time and service that the individual has in the Army. A professional is said to have specialized knowledge and skill which can only be acquired through persistent education and experience. Such skill and experience form the basis of objective standards of proficient competence that separate the practicing professional from their peers and measure the proficiency of such professionalism. This professional knowledge must also be intellectual in nature. Soldiers are required to accept responsibility for their actions and resulting consequences. This includes avoiding even the appearance of offensiveness. Accountability promotes careful, well thought out decision making and limits thoughtless action. Fairness, open mindedness and neutrality are important aspects of fairness. Soldiers must be committed to justice in the performance of their official duties. Decisions must not be illogical, impulsive, or biased. Individuals must be treated equally and with tolerance. Such professional is the paratrooper. I walked away $200 cash in my pocket, a free gourmet dinner and was allowed to watch a private performance by Pitbull. It was something I never anticipated, and something that never happened again. I was immediately given an extremely high expectation of a regular day of work. After a year working at the company, I have yet to work another night that fruitful. Cold hard reality has set in. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point, no one in wants to have a career in the service industry and rightfully so, tipped workers are two times more likely to fall into poverty (Allegretto). This fact is extremely alarming and clearly something needs to be done to reduce that rate. As I researched into this topic, two options become clear: either eliminate tips altogether or develop a way to insure everyone walks away with a respectable amount of money in their pocket to go home and feed their family with. When Eliminating tips without an appropriate gratuity already present on the bill, worker motivation and quality of the service is decreased within restaurants (Rodriguez). This is also consistent with my personal experience, valets run a lot slower or don t even run when no tips are at stake. Therefor most of the attention has gone into determining what goes into a tip. There are hundreds of studies that look at every variable imaginable, from weather to race, to car color. It s all been analyzed. Yet apparently it s still a mystery for most. There are still so many questions on what goes into a tip in the service industry. But through personal experience and various studies, it s easy to conclude that if you want a big tip, customer service is where to look, but there are small factors that can slightly influence the amount of each tip such as gender, race and whether they have previously worked in the service industry. It was hardly recognized by Americans at the time because of the Civil War and the slavery issues that were so much more important in the North and South part of the country. The Long Walk is the Navajo Nation s own Trail of Tears . More than 8,500 Navajo men, women, and children were forced to relocate to an internment camp in New Mexico called the Bosque Redondo Reservation. Once there the military found that twice the number of people that they expected came. For the Navajo people today, it is said that the Long Walk was one of the hardest times in their history. Extension activities were therefore directed towards increasing efficiency in crop production and marketing. Regulations were made to set and enforce standards in export crop production. The colonial government also established some agricultural development schemes to upgrade the skills of farmers and to produce agricultural commodities. The Kware irrigation scheme was established in 1926. It was situated 16miles or 25.74 kilometres north of Sokoto town. Its purposes were to increase rice yields and provide experimental data on production under severe drought during dry season and flooding during the rains. The scheme started with 1000 acres or 405 hectares involving 800 farmers with farms situated along the river banks. The irrigation scheme employed the shadoof which is an ancient Egyptian technique, also used by the Sudanese. The scheme did not attain much of its objectives because (a) the irrigation scheme (shardoof) was inadequate on large farms; (b) it is a slow technique of irrigation; (c) it was difficult to collect cost of services from users; (d) in 1943, 1945 and 1954, river Rima over flooded and washed away most of the rice crop; and (e) use of manure was not popular among the farmers. Analysis Of The Poem The World Is Too Much With Us The poem, The World Is Too Much with Us by William Wordsworth argues that people s disregard for nature s importance makes them lose their humanity. Wordsworth sees materialism as a waste of our powers (359). Our powers of being able to keep in touch with a fundamental part of themselves. To preserve and see the beauty of nature. Instead of building upon it. The start of the Industrialization in Britain brought factories, buildings, and a newly built world. • 22. Analysis Of Jean-Jacques Rousseau s The Origin Of Civil... French philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau says in his essay The Origin of Civil Society, man is not free, and everywhere he is in chains. He expresses in this essay on how upon entering society, man is not free and is changed, externally and internally. Rousseau claims that nature is a man s true state before being negatively influenced by outside forces. The quote says that people willingly make social contracts, in which they have agreed to live in a place that governs the populace and limit their freedoms. But to Rousseau, this is something that doesn t happen naturally. In his quote, Rousseau meant that man truly leads a free and unrestricted life until he enters society and how he becomes civilized, but, in a sense, becomes a hypocrite and doesn t listen to his conscience. He describes that a man is born inherently good but becomes corrupt. However, as societal structures developed, people gave up their autonomy and free will, and modern society interfered with people s ability to live freely in the state of nature. Rousseau s idea was that it was madness for people to forfeit their natural freedom for a state in which they lived without freedom. He argued that people should have the right to choose the government and laws that rule them. He also said that people do not have to obey governments that rule with force or governments that they have not chosen. By saying man is becoming corrupt, it is meant that the man is [giving up] his essential manhood, his rights, and even his duty as a human being. It is his personal judgement on whether people are being seen as overall good. Rousseau believed once leaving nature, a man becomes corrupt once entering society and experiencing social norms and corruption within the society. He loses free will and upon realization, man will start living an artificial life. As man enters society, Rousseau describes as if the man becomes a slave, yet the man was born free. He begins to bear several chains based off of prejudice, caste, creed, and color set loose on him by society. These chains are implemented on what people believe to be commonly and morally acceptable. The man begins to focus more on being perfect rather than being true to themselves ... Because wild horses in real life are disorganized and confused, the author compares the young boys dragged into the war as disorganized and confused. The symbolization of wild and confused relates to my life due to the fact that, there are definitely times when certain aspects adults understand are misinterpreted to me differently.
