Descriptive Essay On Yergu
It is the annual parade for the planet Yergu. Yergu was the home planet for the creatures known as
the Yengears. These creatures looked a lot like humans. And since their planet was much colder
than Earth, all the Yengears were extremely fair.
The annual parade is a very important event for the Yengears as it honors the soldiers that protect
the planet for their services throughout the year. The parade is held on the anniversary of the Great
Armistice, the truce which ended the millennium war. It is also the day where all the kingdoms of
Yergu united as the great empire of United Yengear. The royal familyalways conducted the parade
to show that peace can always be achieved no matter what.
But ever since the royal family was betrayed and massacred 7 years ago by the planet Aoem, this
parade did not symbolize peace. But it showed to rest of the universe what ... Show more content on

All the troops that are participating in the parade, marched to the parade grounds. Each division
was slowly assembling themselves forming files and ranks. This parade also served as an exhibition
event to show off their conquests, creations, achievements in the past year.
The Conquest forces, the division of the army which is on the constant lookout for new planets to
conquer, had as usual brought their slaves to show off. The slaves were stripped naked and only
had collared chains to their neck. The collar sent an electric current directly to salve s nervous
system. This current made them obey their masters without any resistance. This year they had
defeated the planet of the giants Zwam, the planet Preeru which housed the creatures known for
their nimble feet and planet of the ground Cray.
The engineering division had brought an assortment their gadgets. Their collection this year
included new fighter jets, deep space suits, specialized ray guns, high mobility armors and a special

Wrong For Eskimo
The presented passage makes a few claims which states that There is no moral standard that
applies to all human beings. The second claim the passage makes is that, there are different
cultures. The third claim the passage makes is that, what morality would apply to androids that
were exactly like humans except they were made of silicone and metal? The support the author
uses for the first claim is that, we are all different in lots of ways, so how could any two people
believe in exactly the same morality? What s right for you isn t right for me, and vice versa. His
/her support for the second claim suggest that, what s right for American might be wrong for
Eskimo or an Arab or an African Tribesman. And finally his/her third claim is support by fact that,
androids would be persons for all practical purposes, but it makes no sense to say... Show more

Using my ancestral background and my country of origin as the basis for my claim, I am going
to present some differences as to why I am in agreement. In Guyana (my homeland) I am not
allowed to call an adult by their given name. I would have to refer to them as uncle or auntie and
then insert their name. It is disgraceful for a younger person to call adults by their name. The
reason is that the culture dictates that you are not on equal grounds or have earned the right to
call them on their real name. In America it is okay to refer to someone regardless of age by their
given name. Another difference is chivalry. As time progresses humans forget to be polite to one
another. I was brought up to say, good morning, please and thank you. Opening doors and letting
people finish speaking instead of interrupting and cursing in public or at parents. Today these rules
do not apply to others because they are considered redundant. There is no obligation to commit to
these standards and it is socially acceptable in todays

Durga Puja Essay
Dusshera/Durga Puja Vijyadashmi or popularly known as Dusshera also called as Durga puja in
other eastern parts of the country is celebrated as one of the most popular festival, all across the
country with some minor traditional and cultural changes, as per the local myths and fables
except for the one real story, which most of us know but just to refresh what we read and were
taught by our parents and grandparents regarding the festival I should narrate it once again. The
term implies Vijaya meaning victory and Dashmi meaning tenth day of the Hindu calendar in the
month of lunar calendar of Ashwin corresponding to the month of September or October
according to the English/Georgian calendar, but now the question arises who won and over
whom? What actually happened? Dusshera/Durga Puja is celebrated as the triumph of good over
evil. Where in Dushhera is celebrated as the victory of King Rama over Ravana while Durga Puja

Essay about Humans Must Adapt to Global Warming
No one in the scientific community would argue with the premise that the earth s climate has
changed over the eons of its existence or that it will continue to change. The arguments now revolve
around if mankind s use of the environment has specifically altered our climate.
Scientists have described our world as a clump of matter that spun out of the sun to join its journey
hurling though cold and empty space. Our spaceship earth would match the moon and have no
climate had not molten core continued to pierce its cold crust, spewing forth chemicals that would
eventually form our atmosphere, our seas and life itself ( Mcphee ).
The geological record shows a tumultuous earth, but because the events occur slowly over millions

In an online edition of the Journal Science, one team suggests that glaciers flowing into the
Amundsen Sea are melting twice as fast near the coast than they has ten years age. These glaciers
help drain the West Antarctic Sea, and area that consists of enough ice to raise the sea leveltwenty
or so feet ( Revkin ). As the receding glaciers and polar ice caps part of the natural gerological
process, or is the human s comsumption of fossil fuels to blame? Do we as humans face a
dilemma of rising seas of our own making or is the earth following it own path and we can only
be observers of events that our beyond our control? The earths history is recorded in rocks, tree
ring, ice cores, and mud. We must assume that the climates were warmer or colder based on the
type of fossiled fauna left in the geological record. No actual evidence is left in rock formations
that shows the chemical make up of historic atmospheres. Scientists have recently by passed this
dilemma by coring glaciers, allowing them to look into past atmospheres as old as 750,000 years.
Glaciers are made by compaction of snow on land. As the snow compacts and gets deeper it is
subject to alteration and movement owing to its own weight and pressure (Curry 292). Snow
deposits transform into a glaciers at an average depth of about 10 meters. The deeper the firn snow

The Relationship Between Frida Kahlo And Diego Rivera
Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, two Mexican artists, entered into a consensually non
monogamous relationship. Frida was very well aware that it was not in Diego to be a
monogamous man. We know this because she answered the question of why she puts up with his
affairs like this; Look, Diego is how he is, and that is how I love him. I cannot love him for what
he is not. (Clancy Sigal). These relationships are basically ways to engage in sex outside of the
relationship but they differ from cheating because the partner is aware. Different types of non
monogamous relationships include partner swapping, swinging and polyamory (Pappas). Studies
are just beginning to be started about consensual non monogamy, but there is some evidence that

Going back to the toast at Frida and Diego s wedding, marriage was stated to be a political act that
occurred in the name of tradition. Monogamy is also enforced by culture, economics, social
factors and it is the normal thing to do (Robinson). As we saw in the movie, Frida s mother was
highly opposed to her marriage to Diego because he had been divorced twice already and because
he was a Communist; her fear was that he would not be good to Frida. Even in society today, when
a man and woman are not monogamous, they are frowned upon or referred to in derogatory terms.
Research shows that promiscuity raised the likelihood of reproduction and survival, but monogamy
worked where there was a low female to male ratio, limiting men s options (Borreli, Are Humans
Naturally Monogamous?).
Until Diego crossed the boundaries of having sex with Frida s sister, their relationship seemed to
work for them. Borreli noted that researchers found non monogamous people have specific
differences in how their brain responded to reward, described as a cheater s high, attributed to
mutations in receptor genes that respond to the hormone vasopressin. Maybe Diego really was on
to something when he told Frida he was physically incapable of being

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
People generally appreciate the sight of a clean desk, or a good system to keep files tabbed and
organized in a given space. Of course, there are those who believe they work more efficiently in a
cluttered area, or claim to remember where an object was placed but now cannot seem to find it.
However, once organization, daily rituals , or the unbearable urge to adjust something comes into
play, Psychologydescribes this as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) or also referred to as
Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD). The mental strains inside a person with
OCD or OCPD can become psychologically dangerous for relationships or quality of life for that
person if the disorder gets out of hand. Individuals with OCPD attempt to maintain... Show more

Remember The Four Freedoms
On January 6, 1941 President Roosevelt delivered his State of the Union Address before
congress. He spoke eloquently of a future world founded on the essential human freedoms:
freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. (Foner
2014pg842). He used this speech as a rally cry to enter World War 2. (Foner 2014, 757) These four
freedomswere meant to establish basic rights for all people in the United states and still today we
hold true to these freedoms. (Foner 2014 pg842) Freedom of speech came to coincide with
freedom and expression which would be the best defense against corruption of democracy.
(Remembering the Four Freedoms 2016). Freedom of worship or religion would be our shield
against the forces of bigotry, intolerance, and fanaticism, Freedom from want, a commitment to
erasing hunger, poverty, and pestilence from the earth, brought hope for citizens as they fought the
Great depression and Finally, freedom from fear, a freedom dependent on collective security, a
concept carried forward with our leadership in the United Nations.(Remembering the Four
Freedoms 2016) As America battled the great depression, Roosevelt was confident that the war
would end the depression and cause the United States to thrive once again. (Foner2014, 843)

3.1. Planning principles and Processes used in development of Marketing Strategy for McDonalds
Marketing strategy is the outcome of certain principles and the principles involves various
concepts and systematic approaches which are important in making decisions for the company.
On the other hand the processes define the ways to achieve organizational objectives. It is
necessary to identify the overall objectives, goals and mission of the company in order to devise
the ways to achieve these objectives. As defined in the vision of McDonalds, the company wants
to be the largest fast food provider across the globe and the mission of the company is customer
centric. Two of the important principles that are necessary to be kept in mind while developing
marketing strategy are:
Strategy must be developed in order to address certain problem or issue
Strategy must be aligned with the goals and long term business objectives of an organization
The strategic management processes are used at McDonalds for developing marketing strategies. It
can be understood that McDonalds launches new food products in its product portfolio from time
to time in order to gain attention of more customers. The company is highly competitive and
adopts proactive approach in order to lead its competitors. The first process that is used in

Romantic Antics during the Romantic Period of Music
What makes you think of the Romantic Period in music? The music period deemed the
Romantic Period was brought into place by the major social and political stresses following the
French Revolution, having the outcome of trends worldwide. The Romantic Period itself,
outside of music, was a dramatic movement that was caused by rebelling everything that the
Classical Period held as far as standards in music, art, and societal living. This rebellion against
the cultural norm caused differing standpoints between logic and emotion, science and faith,
freedom and oppression, capitalism and socialism, and also the difference between structured
music and expressive music. The composers during this period were interesting in that they were
able to construct such a stylistic way of writing, and preforming music, in such a short time.
Some artists in this time that were crucial to this development of music were Chopin, and
Schumann, who will be later discussed. Frederic Chopin was given an early start in music. He
was born on March 1, 1879 in Zelazowa Wola, Poland. The young boy had not but aged 7 years
when he wrote his first composition. Imagine that, a second grader who knew how to write his
own compositions. Personally I think that is amazing because sometimes it seems nearly
impossible to write anything that is original. This young boy was soon after sent to the Warsaw
Conservatory of Music, where he studied under the Polish Josef Elsner. His early beginnings in
music did

Point Of View In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow...
A story s point of view helps the reader get the writer s perspective. As such, one can determine
the truth about a character thus affecting their response to the character. It also influences the
reader s response based on what the narrator knows or their objective. In Charlotte Perkins
Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper the point of view is in the first person. The narrator participates
in the action of the story. In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, the writer uses the third person
point of view and lets the reader know how the characterfeel. As such, one learns about the
characters through an outside voice. As such, the narrativeof any story is a crucial asset to help the
reader get the point, theme, or message of the material.

The viewpoint of this story is meant to create sympathy for Miss Emily regarding her obsession
with Homer, without condemning her.
The Yellow Wallpaper can also be tied to this theory since it spins an exciting tale of how a wife
of a doctor becomes guilt ridden with depressed after the birth of her child. As a result, her
physician husband decides to place her under homecare to help cure her of her disease (3).
However, this only serves to intensify her illness and put a damper on her marriage. The first
person point of view in this story helps one to catch a vision of what a suffering woman must
endure. The first narrative also influences the reader to be able to connect to the narrator in a
humane way.
Further, the first person standpoint in this story provides the reader access only to the woman s
thoughts thus limiting the reader. However, the limited point of view in this story helps is crucial
in letting the reader get into the shoes of the wife and experience the feeling of isolation throughout
the story. The limitation of the viewpoint also involves narrating the story in the present, which
prohibits the main character from the benefit of hindsight

Rhino Poaching Essay
Poaching of Rhinos: A Growing Transnational Crime Industry
In 2011, the West African black rhino was declared extinct by the IUCN (International Union for
Conservation and Nature). Now all five rhino species left are in the endangers list (Poaching: The
Statistics). The reason the rhino population has nearly been driven to extinction is due to poaching.
The rhinos are being hunted and killed for their horns, which is a valued ingredient used in
traditional Asian medicines (Poaching of Rhinos in the Spotlight). In this essay, I will explore why
the rhinos are being poached, the overall impact of poaching in the rhino population, and what the
authorities are doing to deal with this profitable transnational crime industry.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the rhino ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

however mostly happened in the 70 s and 80 s in Yamen (Shivamber). Another reason is that due
to its high value, wealthy individuals now use it as a status symbol (PoachingStatistics). This is
because rhino horn is more expensive than most things out there. For example, one kilo of
marijuana is rated at about $5,060, one kilo of gold at about $42, 972, and a kilo of cocaine at
about $48,885. However, the value of a kilo of rhino horn is about $100,000. It is estimated that
one rhino horn can produce about $1 million dollars. This is the reason being why this is such a

Since 2008, Poachers have killed more than 5,940 African rhinos. According to the IUCN and the

making it a higher increase for the sixth year in a row (Poaching Statistics). The countries affected

Tale Of Two Cities Fates
The Golden Thread About 40,000 people died during the French Revolution. Charles Dickens
portrays a few examples of these deaths in his book A Tale of Two Cities. Most of the characters
that were killed for the Revolution in Dickens book had their name knitted into a registry. This can
be compared to a common Greek Myth of the three fates, where they weave names into a tapestry
before they come to an end. In Charles DickensA Tale of Two Cities
Book Two is titled The Golden
Thread, which comes from a Greek Myth, the theme of the myth is exhibited through multiple
characters in the book.
It is known are Greek Mythology, that there is to be three sister deities who together determine a
person s destiny. For example, they will say when a person will die. One of the three sisters spins
the thread, another measures it, and the last cuts the thread with shears. In some myths, it is also
understood that the three fates weave a tapestry that illustrates people s lives. The illustrations that
they weave are to represent the future of what is to come. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One character you can see this theme through is the wine shop owner and revolutionary
Madame Defarge. In the book, any time Madame Defarge appears she is often seen to be

Madame Defarge knits Gaspard s name into her registry. Then, Gaspard was later killed. This can
be recognized as how the three fates weave names and illustrations into their tapestry before their

My Personal Statement On My Life
For as long as I can remember, I was told I could do anything I put my mind to if I was willing to
put forth the effort. My parents played the essential role of providing resources that would instill
a good work ethic and passion in me. While my options are limitless, I have spent most of my
academic career preparing me for a future in scientific research and academia. Enumerable factors
have molded me into the passionate person that I am today, so the answer to Who are you? is not
simple but is rather a culmination of life experiences.
I learned the values of respect, honor, and drive from both my biological family and my church
family. I grew up going to Sunday school in the Episcopal Church where I learned what it meant to
have morals and how to be an all around decent human being. At home, my parents taught me
similar values and lead by example while explaining the importance of kindness towards others.
Growing up in the Episcopal Church has grounded me in such a way that I can find a home and
family anywhere in the world simply by finding a church with the iconic red doors. My
spirituality and dedication to service formed me into a caring person who can never say no to
someone in need. The church has always been my outlet where I can find peace and serenity, so in
return I dedicate my time to giving back in honor of all it has provided for me. The Youth Service
Organization (YSO) at my home church taught me the benefits of giving back to a community who

Why Do Governments Must Ensure That Their Major Cities
Essay topics: Claim: Governments must ensure that their major cities receive the financial support
they need in order to thrive. Reason: It is primarily in cities that a nation s cultural traditions are

that their major cities receive the financial support they need in order to thrive. B)It is primarily in
cities that a nation s cultural traditions are preserved and generated. I disagree totally with the
claim presented above by the author. The premises on which the author claims has fallacies which I
am going to discuss below. The number one reason why I disagreed with the claim is that because
culture is made of elements that are only present in small cities or towns . If we look at any nation
American or non American. we will find that cultural traditions and customs take origin in small
cities, towns or rural areas and not in big cities. The warmth of rural areas, small cities, towns gives
birth to folk lore, customs, traditions, culture, music and literature. Big cities are home to many

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998
Children s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 This legislation grew out of the fact that by 1998
roughly ten million American children had access to the Internet, and at the same time, studies
indicated that children were unable to understand the potential effect of revealing their personal

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life,
and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had
not lived. This quote by Thoreau shows the way he wanted to live, deliberately, people need a
purpose it s how we work, therefore Waldenis relevant. Even though Walden is redundant and
Thoreau is believed to be hypocritical, and he didn t isolate himself as it seems in the memoir.
Walden is more relevant than ever, because the core idea is that by living frugally and naturally,
you can have more time to spend as you like with purpose. Simplicity allows us to have a richer life.

Without a purpose, live would be empty. One can t live deliberately, the way Thoreau wanted to
live. To live deliberately in the way Thoreau wrote about was to spend time simply observing
with a purpose, even if to extend one s knowledge. Life s purpose depends on the person,
Thoreau states that he doesn t expect everyone to fall into his step. Many say Walden is
redundant and Thoreau is believed to be hypocritical, and he didn t isolate himself as it seems in
the memoir. Yes, Thoreau may have been condescending, scolding, and judgmental, but these
traits don t reflect on the quality of Thoreau s writing. Reading Walden isn t for everyone, nor is
Thoreau s lifestyle. Thoreau writes as though he lived in the middle of nowhere while he truly
lived a half an hour walk from the town. Conversely this idea of isolation Thoreau portrays for
himself doesn t dispute the ideas and philosophy in Walden .
In conclusion, Walden is more relevant than ever. Thoreau lived simple unmaterialistic existence as
he stayed at Walden Pond, for he believed the material wealth lead to spiritual downfalls. The ideas
of purposeful living and the living amongst nature is still prevalent to this day. Thoreau wrote of
nature, and how he coexisted with it, learned from it. Observing nature gave Thoreau a purpose
while he was at Walden Pond. Through living simply and unmaterialistic one can live life to the

Example Of Propaganda In Ww1
The legendary words of the iconic Uncle Sam I want YOU for the U.S. Army is one of the world
s most predominant pieces of classical propaganda for the army. During World War I propaganda
was viewed by many high powered governmental officials as another form of warfare, which was
considered just as significant as the actual combat fighting during the time. The core focus of
propaganda was to encourage the public and bring unity within the nation in order to fight and
justify their involvement within the war. Furthermore, this encouraged the enlistment of soldiers to
join the fight and targeted everyone from men to women and children. Moreover, another
alternative aim was to acquire financial support to fund the war and supply disinformation... Show

Summary Of Cornel West s The New Cultural Politics Of...
In Cornel West s essay, The New Cultural Politics of Difference , West describes this new cultural
politics of difference to have three challenges: intellectual, existential, and political. The new
cultural politics of difference trash the monolithic and homogeneous in the name of diversity and
reject the abstract and the universal in light of the concrete. Cornel West, through the use of the
three major historical periods (Age of Europe, America s Domination, Civil Rights Movement),
explains the importance of intervention in order to change and improve upon the mistakes of the
past and reject the false degrading stereotypes that were created during those times. Throughout his
essay, Cornel West uses examples of the battle between the people of color and White Progressives
effectively because it allows the readers to understand that for changes to be made one must be
simultaneously be in the group challenging the system and in the system itself in order for social
reforms to occur within the society they live in. According to Cornel West, the new cultural politics
of difference faces three basic challenges intellectual, existential, and political (West 3). The
intellectual challenge begins with the Age of Europe and continues through modern day society.
The ambiguous legacies of the European Age, American preeminence, and decolonization continue
to haunt our postmodern moment as we come to terms with both the European, American,
Japanese, Soviet, and Third World crimes

An Introduction To A Vapor Cloud Explosion
An Analysis of a Vapor Cloud Explosion
Introduction
Flammable gasses can be very dangerous mostly when it comes to highly volatile products. This is
because they can evaporate at very low temperatures, may be room temperature and due to their
low energy of activation to react. Highly volatile products are that dangerous because they cannot
be seen, can evaporate any single moment regardless of the size of leakage, they spread very fast
among many other risks. This was the case at one of the manufacturing plants in Massachusetts,
Arnel chemical plant. The plant was responsible for manufacturing printer paints On November 21,
2006, a night at about 2.45 AM a massive explosion occurred at the plant. After thorough research

The Seafarer Poem Summary
Exile, is defined as a state of being barred from one s native country. How could that even be
possible; Being kicked out of a place of inhabitance. Many say that you d have to do something
unthinkable to have a punishment as grim as exile. During the lawless time of monsters and
unruly Kings, the Anglo Saxon era of poems make that all very practical. The creators of each
poem discuss the personal endeavors of each exile and how they each come to their own
acceptance, or not. The seafarer , Wanderer , and the Wife s Lament use various literary devices to
express the emotional toil, sorrow, and each theme of their exile.
First of all, in The Seafarer the writer discusses the internal conflicts he is having among the
waves of the sea. Even though this self chosen exile causes this man pain and sorrow, peace is
not a common entity for him while on land. The time for journeys would come and my soul
/ called me eagerly out, sent me over/ the horizon, seeking foreigners homes. (lines 36 38). The
gallant mortal does not doubt that there is no fear among his heart, but his longing for the tides
is far too strong to be confined to the dry, lifeless land. His experiences only bring him back to
where he feels at home the most the sea. But there isn t a man on earth so proud,/.../he feels no
fear as the sails unfurl/.../only the ocean s heave; But longing wraps itself around him. (lines 39
47). The way he shows his fearful arrogance is an example again of his internal conflict.

Inherit The Wind, By Charles Darwin
Every living thing on this planet has evolved from the same original specie. Having this
information, could it not be concluded that all living things are, to some degree, related? Yes. To
further explain, evolution is a theory that states that organisms have diversified or in other words,
have changed into a more complex living thing. In the book Inherit The Wind, the townsfolk of the
play disagree heavily with the theory of evolution. Common ancestry is the theory that states that all
living things share a common ancestor or common descendent, which then ties into evolution.
Speciation, both allopatric and parapatric, show evidence for common ancestry. Speciation is when
new species arise due to an evolutionary process. There are multiple and observable accounts that
are used to support the theory of common ancestry. Charles Darwins book, The Descent of Man And
Selection in Relation to Sex, goes into specifics with these accounts with placental mammals.
Placental mammals are mammals that nourish their embryos using the mother s blood supply.
Common Ancestry in placental mammals provides sufficient scientific evidence, such as the
similarities in bone structures and genetic coding between animals, to support the theory of
evolution.
One of the biggest arguments against the theory of evolution and the theory of common ancestry is
that they are theories. A scientific theory is an explanation for something in the natural world
supported by facts and has successfully gone

The Reformation Of England And Germany
After the reformation had reached parts of England and Germany, John Knox started preaching
the reformation to Scotland. Knox sought to win over the many Catholics that were in
Scotland. He had many opportunities to preach at St. Andrews church and his teachings were
very popular among the people. Due to his rising popularity and demand, one of the leaders in
the church, Rough, asked him to consider taking a position in the church as a preacher. Knox
quickly denied saying he wouldn t take the position unless it was God s calling on his life.
However, Rough wasn t letting him go that easily, the next Sunday Rough did a sermon on God
s will and calling and asked the congregation to express to Knox their desire for him to be their
pastor. This brought tears to Knox s eyes and he left the church and locked himself in his
chambers for a couple days pondering his decision. Ultimately he took the call and began to preach
at the church. Knox criticized the functions of the Catholic church in his sermons comparing
certain aspects of it to Daniel 7:24 25. Knox said that the text, showed that the lives of clergy, from
popes downwards; how the doctrines of the Church, particularly that of justification through works
of man s invention ; how ecclesiastical enactments such as clerical celibacy, compulsory fasting,
and observance of days; and how such blasphemous pretensions as those which claimed papal

Darwin s Theory Of Biological Evolution
Evolution refers to the processes that have transformed life on Earth from its earliest forms to the
vast diversity that characterizes it today (Campbell, 1993). However, a lot of things can change
over a period of time. The Father of Evolution who is known as Charles Darwin, developed the
theory of biological evolution. This theory has long been debated during and after darwin s time.
Biological evolution can be seen through a momentous change in organisms by changing of the
genetic composition. Darwin s theory did not only create a topic of controversy, but it was able to
create a way of understanding life through biological evolution.
The traditional Judeo Christian version of Creationism was strongly reinforced by James ... Show

It had a beginning, but it has no ending. Creation is always busy making new scenes, new things
and new Worlds (Weiner 3). In the bible it states that all living things were created at the hands of
God. No one has ever desired to challenge the Catholic Church of this belief. Until a man by the
name of Charles Darwin discovered the wonders on Daphne Major. After his survey of the island,
he concluded that there was something about the finches beaks that made them unique to each of
the islands. Making meticulous observations of the beaks he saw that each finch had a specific set
of beaks. This allowed them to adapt to a specific niche in their environment. What is more. the
tame little birds that Darwin had found hopping around beneath the bushes were unique too. They
were not relatives of blackbirds, walders, wrens, and finches, as Darwin had thought when he
bagged them (Weiner 28). Darwin speculated about how natural selectionis one of the main
concepts for biological evolution. Natural selection consisted of descent with modification, known
as a gradual process over time, heritable biological traits become either more or less common in a
population. When the next generation of that species gains that dominant trait in the population,
this is known as descent with modification. Observing descent with modification is still prominent
during that time period. According to the Variation Lab, natural selection was the driving
mechanism for biological evolution.

Raising Tuition Rates
Raising Tuition Rates Tuition rates have been rising exponentially since World War II and the GI
Bill... which allowed for, ...an explosive increase in the number and proportion of Americans who
go to college (Nathan 148). This change, though largely due to inflation, has been rising past what
families can afford to pay, and has led to difficulties for students exiting high school. These
difficulties have been seen by campuses, and many already have a plan to help these students pay
for the rocketing tuition prices. This escalating problem has been caused by multiple entities,
individuals, and ideals. Firstly, between 1985 and 1995, the federal and state funding has decreased
by almost twenty five percent, and since then has decreased to account for only fifty percent of the
public universitys budget, as more of the government s moneyhas been allotted to the needs of the
country s healthcare, welfare, and prisons. Also, universities have increased the percentage of their
budgets allocated to administration roles, mostly in an attempt to influence government and to
market their degree and certificate programs (Nathan 149). Furthermore, a study performed by,
William Bowen, now president of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, attributed tuition rising faster
than the rate of inflation primarily to the nature of the educational process, which did not permit
academia to share in the productivity gains that caused earnings growth in the rest of society... and

First, HubSpot has a corporate culture centered on an evangelical attitude towards inbound

strategy for its inbound and outbound services while still staying true to its roots.
Alternatives for pricing
The pricing structure has the potential to evolve in a number of different ways. HubSpot could go
begin selling subscriptions for longer intervals beyond month to month to lock in customers for
longer periods of times. This could be particularly beneficial for keeping the Owner Ollies from
canceling services immediately after receiving the majority of the added value.
HubSpot could also begin charging B2B and B2C customers differently as well. B2B customers
derive greater value and could be charged an added premium or conversely B2C customers could
be given an added discount of services if combined with a longer subscription purchase.
Hubspot could also increase its initial fee of $500 for Owner Ollies who reap the majority of the
benefits upfront and who don t require as much customer service. A discount to this increase could
be coupled with participation with the CMS service, thus increasing the chance the customer stays

The Nigerian And The American Legal Systems
INTRODUCTION
The Nigerian and the American legal systems share a lot of common ground. Having been
colonized by Britain, both countries share a lot of characteristics with the English legal system.
Both are common law legal systems based on English common law both at federal and state levels
apart from the state of Louisiana in the United States that is based on the Napoleonic civil code.
Both countries are constitution based federal republics and have bicameral legislatures consisting
of the Senate and House of Representatives in the United States (Congress) and House of
Assembly and House of Representatives in Nigeria (National Assembly). Despite the fact that
Nigeria and America have similar legal systems, there are still some apparent variations in terms of
practice and procedure a key component of effective dispensation of justice. Essentially, what
obstructs quick dispensation of justice and case management is not the law; rather, it is the practice
and procedure.

Drug Resistance And Its Effect On The Clinical Benefit Of...
Drug resistance has become an obstacle in maximizing the clinical benefit of ART and
consequently, routine HIV genotyping is recommended prior to ART initiation during viral

genes is essential regardless of which method is used for sequencing. Results from this study
show that not only it is possible to detect but also to characterize virus that continues to be
produced in low levels in such patients. The samples with LLV were amplified to determine
whether LLV present in patients on effective ART regimen resulted from the development of
drug resistance. Out of the 31 samples that were amplified using the optimized protocol, seven

products during clean up exists. There is a high possibility of mishandling the sample during

Analysis of Mending Wall by Robert Frost Essay
Analysis of Mending Wall by Robert Frost
Robert Frost is describing a process in Mending Wall , which is repairing a wall that separates his
territory and his neighbor s. The wall was deteriorated during the winter, when the cold frost
created cracks and gaps in the wall. He uses a nearly infantile imagination to unravel the mystery of
the damage that appeared suddenly in spring. While they are tediously laboring to reconstruct the
fence, Frost is imploring his neighbor about the use of the wall; his apple trees can be clearly
distinguished from his neighbor s pine trees. Yet underneath this quotidian routine, Frost goes
beyond the surface to reveal its figurative meaning.
The poem renders an apparent question: Why do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also uses other devices such as a pun, applied in the line, And to whom I was like to give
offence. The last word of the line simply emphasizes the importance of the subject, the fence. The
most prominent figure of speech, however, is the ironic, Good fences make good neighbors. This is
completely opposite of the connotation of the poem. Fences do not make neighbors, but strangers
that are apathetic towards each other. The neighbor seems to prefer this approach, to eliminate any
risks of trespassing or offenses. Yet what the fence really does is hinder the development of
friendship. This is comparable to the barriers of bitterness, anger, hate, and fear men put between
one another that obstruct love and friendship.
The poet also used imagery to appeal to the senses. The puzzling force that abhors the wall sends
the frozen ground swell under it, and spills the upper boulders in the sun.

Edgar Allan Poe Revlutionized Literature in the 19th Century
Edgar Allan Poe revolutionized the literary world of the nineteenth century. Poe is a well known
author from the early 1800 s, who was part of the dark romanticism movement. While later in life
he was a brilliant writer, Edgar Allan Poe faced many problems in his early life. Although Poe
experienced death within his family at a young age, the hardships he encountered are thought to
have influenced his dark writing style. These death inspired elements within Poe s writing were
ahead of their time. However, Edgar Allan Poes excellent use of descriptive imagery and suspense
is what makes his writing unique. These stylistic devices are evident in Poe s famous short stories,
including The Tell Tale Heart and The Cask of Amontillado .
Edgar Allan Poe uses imagery to develop a strong mood for readers in his short stories, this is
part of what make his writing unique. For instance, in Poe s piece The Cask of Amontillado ,
imagery is used to develop his signature dark mood for readers to experience. Poe uses
descriptive details of the setting to enhance the mood. This is especially shown when the narrator
states Its walls had been lined with human remains piled to the vault overhead, in the fashion of the
great catacombs of Paris... From the fourth the bones had been thrown down, and lay
promiscuously upon the earth, forming at one point a mound of some size (Poe 5). The narrator s
description of the setting creates a dark, and frightening feeling for readers. In particular,

Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil mystery plays a huge role when it comes to
plot, and character development. At the end of this story the minister who is wearing the veil
rhetorically asks, What but the mystery which it obscurely typifies has made this piece of crape
so awful? (Hawthorne 1044). Hawthorne has built up this character so carefully and intensely to
this point, to quite directly state that this veil on his face represents mystery. The minister also
begs the question of, what else does it represent? Asking his congregation, who also persecuted
him, to look deep in themselves and figure out the real reason for his apparel. The minister
blatantly reveals that his veil typifies mystery in a sense where his congregation cannot keep
themselves together, unless they know the absolute truth. Hawthorne uses this veil as a direct
representation of mystery and self control, but he also uses it as a symbol of a divine controller,
tying in spirituality and religion. Towards the beginning of the story the minister reveals himself
looking different, as he wore an obvious black veil over his face. His audience hated the idea of
his new look as they muttered amongst themselves, I don t like it, and Our parson has gone mad!
(Hawthorne 1038). These two particular quotes obviously reveal the initial distaste for the veil, but
it also shows that the congregation could not even control themselves, as they wondered why he
wore this disgusting cover. The

Comparing Lady Macbeth And Apothecary
Both the Speaker and Lady Macbeth utilize their flirtatious sexual behavior and dialect in the same
way. They both have an uncanny ability to sexually seduce the male characters e.g. Macbeth and

uses sexual encouragement to persuade Macbethto commit the murders, though in some
circumstances that does not work so she questions the manliness of him saying that he should be

Lady Macbeth is such a jealous, intelliagent and in particular manipulative individual she will
persevere relentlessly to get what she wants, as she is completely fit for accomplishing it.
As you can imagine Lady Macbeth was a big shock to a seventeenth century contemporary
audience, she was a world away from her era. During the seventeenth century woman were seen
as the weaker and inferior sex, to delicate and fragile for this was a mans world, they were far
from equal to men in fact you could say that they were the slaves of the seventeenth century. Their
only responsibilities were to look after the house, the children, and to keep their husband happy.
Now you can see why Lady Macbeth wanted to have power and responsibility so much though to
be quaint she did rule with an iron fist over Macbeth.
The Laboratories Speaker is thick with envy of Elise (her partners significant other) which is clear
to see all through the poem as she communicates her feelings strongly, this intense yet enthusiastic
jealousy could only be accomplished in the event that she encountered the same level of

Capital Punishment
Capital Punishment
Murder, a common occurrence in American society, is thought of as a horrible, reprehensible
atrocity. Why then, is it thought of differently when the state government arranges and executes a
human being, the very definition of premeditated murder? Capital punishment has been reviewed
and studied for many years, exposing several inequities and weaknesses, showing the need for the
death penalty to be abolished.
Upon examination, one finds capital punishment to be economically weak and deficient. A common
misconception of the death penalty is that the cost to execute a convicted criminal is cheaper than
to place a convict in prison for life without parole. Due to the United States judicial system, the
process of appeals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whatever they need, they can get (Cummings).
In addition to being racially prejudiced, capital punishment places innocent lives at risk. Recently
in Chicago, a black man was released from death row after nearly sixteen years in prison. This
man, Anthony Porter, came within two days of receiving a lethal injection, until the courts
finally agreed hearing on his mental capacity. Porter was very lucky to receive an excellent
attorney who managed to prove that Porter was innocent and led the police to a prisoner in
Milwaukee who confessed (Kile). This shows the importance of the appeal process found in the
courts, which serve to protect the lives of innocent citizens of the United States of America. A
writer for The Christian Century writes, quot;Porter s case brings to light the very real danger that
overzealous prosecutors, sloppy legal work and poor legal defense teams will send people to their
deaths for crimes they didn t commit, quot; (Kile). If Porter had an equipped defense attorney from
the start, he would never have been to prison and nearly killed. Ryan Cummings of The Economist
observed that more crimes are punishable by execution, more states have adopted the death penalty
and the appeals process has been shortened. The overall expansion of capital punishment endangers
innocent lives. Cumulatively, there is now less time and fewer tools to save innocent men and
women

The Issue Of Legalization Of Marijuana Essay
Legalization of Marijuana The role that social policies have in the lives of every citizen cannot
be understated, as the rules, regulations, and laws that govern our society provide the foundation
off which our social welfare system operates. Over the past several decades, the social policy
issue of the legalization of marijuana has gained substantial traction in the public eye, making it
a priority topic to be addressed on the government agenda. With Colorado and Washington
becoming the first states in the U.S. to legalize marijuana (TIME, 2012), Alaska and Oregon
were soon to follow (Fortune, 2016), prompting more discussion and research around the effects
of legalizing marijuana in North America, particularly in regard to social policy. Synopsis
Marijuana control has been intertwined in Canada s social, legal, and political system for over
half a decade, with the issue really gaining traction in the 1960 s as policing began more heavily
enforcing the law on marijuana (Fischer, Ialomiteanu, Russell, Rehm, Mann, 2016). Currently,
approximately 10 12% of Canadian adults partake in the use of marijuana, with the percentage
increasing for adolescents, of whom 25 30% report use (Fischer et al., 2016; Health Canada 2014;
Ialomiteanu et al. 2014). Similar numbers can be found in the States, with more than 8.4 million
U.S. citizens reporting daily or near daily basis, that number having more than doubled from 3.9
million in the span of two years (Glenza, 2016). An

Persuasive Essay On Boxer Briefs
Boxer briefs are also called tight boxers. They are longer in the leg like boxer shorts and tight
fitting like briefs. This male undergarment is mostly worn in United States, United Kingdom,
Australia and Canada. Boxer briefs are a blend of both shorts and briefs. Men are more comfortable
than boxers because briefs don t ride up like traditional boxers. This type of underwear is available
in various colors and patterns.
You can find assortments of boxer briefs from Spiderman prints to more conservative, clean
looking white ones. You can derive from the name that it is fusion of boxer types and brief type
underwear. Boxer briefs resemble cycling shorts which are worn by athletes or professional
players. Most men wear this undergarment because it can cover more area, from the waist down up
to thighs, and feature the snug fit characteristic of briefs. This type of underwear is mostly worn by
martial artists and wrestlers.
Men s boxer briefs are available in knitted versions which can be worn during the night. In the past
this type of boxer was worn for comfort and durability but now it has been shifted to sexiness. Many

Examples Of Deviance In American Horror Stories Freak Show
I chose the television series American Horror Stories to do my analysis on breaking the norm in
television. I chose this series because it breaks all of the norms due to its graphic content. The
show is geared for a more mature audience and is rated TV MA. Programs rated MA are
unsuitable for children under seventeen. There are many examples of deviance in American
Horror Stories Freak Show. There is clown with a gory and very bloody face that was bullied as a
child that now preys on other humans. He murders the innocent people by knocking them out with

According To A Century Of Women Chapter 1 Summary
In twenty century, women become more independent in the society. According to A Century of
Women, Deborah Felder analyzes the history of women have their own rights through history.
The book talks about the suffrage and events in women history. The book divides each chapter
decades by decades basis, which gives clear information to readers to understand the events from
the history. I chose 1917 through 1920, because those are the time when women started to have
their right to vote. In 1917 to 1918, there was World War I, and the chapter talks how women
became important to the world. In 1919, the chapter tells about how the formation of organization
of women voters was formed. In 1920, the chapter shows how women finally have their rights to
vote like men, and how congress ratified the law for them. All these three chapters are the most
significant period of revolution for women position in the United States.... Show more content on

Candida albicans Essay
Candida albicans
Candida albicans is a dimorphic fungus. This means that that C. albicans has to different
phenotypic forms, an oval shaped yeast form and a branching hyphal form. C. albicans normal
habitat is the mucosal membranes of humans and various other mammals including the mouth, gut,
vagina, and sometimes the skin. Normally C. albicans causes no damage and lives symbiotically
with the human or animal host, even helping to breakdown minute amounts of fiber that are eaten in
the host s diet. The normal bacterial flora of the gut, mouth, and vaginal mucosa act as a barrier
to the over growth of fungal infections like C. albicans. Loss of this normal flora is one of the
main predisposing factors to an infection by C. albicans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

albicans can gain an advantage over the normal bacterial flora. Two common substances are steroids
and birth control pills. These both act to alter the host s body chemistry in a way that is favorable to
the over growth of C. albicans. If the host is immunocompromised to begin with as in the case of
AIDS patients or organ transplant receivers that are on immunosupresive drugs C. albicans
infections are very prominent. A common symptom among AIDS patients is oral thrush, where there
is a huge over population of C. albicans on the back of the hosts tongue, it appears as white
speckles.
When C. albicans becomes pathogenic, or switches it s phenotype to the hyphal form to invade the
host cell epithelium, be it the mouth or the gut or the vagina; these infections are superficial and
can usually be treated with common anti fungal agents like fluconazole, diflucan, azole related anti
fungal drugs, amphotericin B, fungizone ( I think this is the same as amphotericin B). However in
severely immunocompromised individuals like transplant patients or AIDS patients C. albicans can
become systemic. That is the fungus will travel through the blood stream and infect any major
organ it can. When C. albicans has become systemic it is almost always fatal because of the
similarity between the host cells and the fungus, and the lack of a reliable anti fungal drug.
Common symptoms of an oral C. albicans infection include burning pain,

Using Allport s Trait Theory Approach
Application Questions: Using Allport s trait theory approach, describe Mary s personality by
answering the following questions. Answer thoroughly and completely, using full sentences and
citing to sources to support any contentions and analyses. 1.Allport suggested seven criteria that
demonstrate that a person is psychologically healthy (mature). What are they? Find examples of
them in the case. From one to four years old: Sense of body involves consciousness of physical
sensations, (Piotrowski, 2005). Example: Mary is aware of her frown lines. Self identity
corresponds to the child s comprehension of an internal sameness or stability over time,
(Piotrowski, 2005). Example: Mary has always liked precision of number crunching; she likes it
to the degree that she has integrated it into her housekeeping chores. Self esteem reflect personal
efforts to preserve pride and avoid shame, (Piotrowski, 2005). Example: She shows satisfaction
always keeping the house in order. She is always willing to help her friends by watching their
children when needed, and preparing their parties. From four to six years old: Self Extension it
refers to the child s perception of that which is his or hers, (Piotrowski, 2005). Example: Mary
shows this by not delegating her functions as mother and housewife to anyone. Self image
represents the consciousness of the person s objectives and personal skills, as well as the good and
bad of things of himself, (Piotrowski, 2005). Example: Mary is

A Career As A Profession Of Arms

and maintaining the approval of the client (which are the American people) in the job that is set

Arms, the title as a profession will continually be in the eyes of the people. All this is possible by
the Army to continually learn in the process to do the job efficiently just as a doctor is continually

The role of the leader in this professional arms of the Army has developed since its formation that

The Decision That Should Matter But Do Not

Jenny Downer
The Decision that should matter but do not The modern era, politically, has been defined by the
right of everyone s own decision, for who s in power, what they do in power and how to stop
them if they get too powerful. It was the individual s decision to let one into power. Of course if
a country did not do this, we as Americans would see that as backwards and not right to the point
of military intervention when in our own nation we do not get full say in who become president.
The decision making does not include world leaders but also includes the day to day decisions
and our own life decisions we make every day, such as our job decisions. But it would seem that
all these decisions are pointless and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He describes how the western philosophy has described how to make a better world by just simply
giving the individuals more choice in the world. Schwartz then later in the lecture goes on to
explain how this ever growing amount of choice can lead to a paralysis of choice. According to
Schwartz this paralysis is being exemplified by the amount of choices given to them. This has
led to an opposite effect where instead of giving more choices equals a better life, now more
choices means no choices at all leading to no choice at all. Schwartz gives another example of
cellphones doing ludicrous things such as nose trimming, toothbrush and even a lighter. Here
exemplifies how the growing number of choices has led to the elderly simply not getting cell
phones or televisions because they cannot understand how to use the call feature or how to
change the channel of the television. The vast amount of choices has also lead to the agency of
one s choices to decease as well. With so many options our decisions rely totally on us according
to Schwartz, that if our choice in anything is so much as not perfect, then our decision was a bad
decision and one could have made a better decision. Which leads to a loss in agency in oneself as
well as depression, due to no decision ever being good enough. The amount of decision and
choices available leads to an increasing expectation of how good the product should be. The lack of
agency and the illusion

The Hypothesized Finnish Population Bottleneck
The hypothesized Finnish population bottleneck is supported by archaeological evidence that
shows the number of artifacts significantly decreased at roughly the same time as hypothesized.
When taken together, the genetic and archaeological records suggest that there may have been a
population bottleneck. The hypothesized populationbottleneck circa 4000 BP (2000 BCE) has
been increasingly researched over the past few decades, as genetic evidence has come to support
the existing archaeological evidence for such an event. Recent genetic testing has shown that there
is very low diversity on the Y chromosome, suggesting that the number of male ancestral lineages
was small, especially compared to the rest of Europe. This is evidence for a population bottleneck
that killed a large portion of the population at some point in the past. In addition, there are genetic
differences between eastern and western Finlandthe presence of Finnish Disease Heritage, where
certain genetic diseases are found in proportions different from the rest of the Europe, as is
common in groups with decreased genetic diversity. Other arguments that explain the same
evidence in other ways have been proposed and no consensus has been reached on which side is
correct. The archaeological evidence is rooted in the number of artifacts found that can be dated to
before and after the hypothesized population bottleneck. This research relies on the assumption that
a higher number of artifacts dated to a certain

Human Causes Of Extinction And Prevention Of Endangered...
Since the beginning of life itself, some species have lived and prospered while other species have
gone extinct never to be seen again by mankind. Because of this, some would claim that extinction
is natural and not significantly problematic to the world that we live in. Others, however,
understand that due to climate change, habitat loss, and poaching, more and more species are
becoming endangered which leads to a chain reaction that can be devastating to ecosystems.
Species such as the Chinook salmon, gorillas, tropical sharks, and polar bears are all directly
affected by climate change, species such as northern spotted owls, Sumatran tigers, and lemurs are
greatly harmed due to habitat loss, and species such as the sea turtle, Javan rhinoceros, African
elephant, and the Red Fronted Macaw are all affected by poaching driving them all closer and
closer to becoming extinct.
Bill Freedmen, author of Endangered Species Human Causes Of Extinction and Endangerment
notes, scientists approximate that present extinction rates are 1,000 to 10,000 times higher than the
average natural extinction rate. These distressing numbers should be acted upon to save the
endangered species and avoid the catastrophic change to this planet if these species were to
become extinct. In order to produce change, people need to recognize that habitat loss, climate
change, and poaching are all factors in why our animal species are going extinct. Climate change is
best known for its contribution to

Prophets And The Old Testament
The last seventeen books of the Old Testament are books of prophecy. Five of these books are
known as the major prophets while the other twelve books are known as the minor prophets. The
prophets in the Old Testament are very important. The prophets spoke for God and were called
by the Lord to do five specific things (Hindson Yates, 2012 p. 287). They were to tell the people
to turn back to the Lord, remind people to conform to the Law, they were also to rebuild the
nation and create a spiritual revival in the people as well as a regeneration in spiritual birth
(Hindson, 2010, p. 123 124). Prophets were also given a very unique talent that they used for God.
One of the most unique features of the true Old Testamentprophets was their ability to predict
(Hindson Yates, p. 289). Biblical prophets speak to future events as though they had already
occurred (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Though prophets are known for their ability to foresee the
future, they also address issues that the Israelites were facing. The prophets spoke on many issues
such as idolatry, social injustice, and religious ritualism. Frederick E. Greenspahn addressed the
prophets input on idolatry. Israelite prophets seem particularly concerned with this problem: their
land is full of idols... idols of silver and gold which they made in order to prostrate [to them], says
Isaiah (Greenspahn, 2004). Isaiah was not the only prophet who ran into the problem of idolatry,
Hosea describes the Northern

  • 2. Descriptive Essay On Yergu It is the annual parade for the planet Yergu. Yergu was the home planet for the creatures known as the Yengears. These creatures looked a lot like humans. And since their planet was much colder than Earth, all the Yengears were extremely fair. The annual parade is a very important event for the Yengears as it honors the soldiers that protect the planet for their services throughout the year. The parade is held on the anniversary of the Great Armistice, the truce which ended the millennium war. It is also the day where all the kingdoms of Yergu united as the great empire of United Yengear. The royal familyalways conducted the parade to show that peace can always be achieved no matter what. But ever since the royal family was betrayed and massacred 7 years ago by the planet Aoem, this parade did not symbolize peace. But it showed to rest of the universe what ... This parade also served as an exhibition event to show off their conquests, creations, achievements in the past year. The Conquest forces, the division of the army which is on the constant lookout for new planets to conquer, had as usual brought their slaves to show off. The slaves were stripped naked and only had collared chains to their neck. The collar sent an electric current directly to salve s nervous system. This current made them obey their masters without any resistance. This year they had defeated the planet of the giants Zwam, the planet Preeru which housed the creatures known for their nimble feet and planet of the ground Cray. The engineering division had brought an assortment their gadgets. Their collection this year included new fighter jets, deep space suits, specialized ray guns, high mobility armors and a special armored ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Wrong For Eskimo The presented passage makes a few claims which states that There is no moral standard that applies to all human beings. The second claim the passage makes is that, there are different cultures. The third claim the passage makes is that, what morality would apply to androids that were exactly like humans except they were made of silicone and metal? The support the author uses for the first claim is that, we are all different in lots of ways, so how could any two people believe in exactly the same morality? What s right for you isn t right for me, and vice versa. His /her support for the second claim suggest that, what s right for American might be wrong for Eskimo or an Arab or an African Tribesman. And finally his/her third claim is support by fact that, androids would be persons for all practical purposes, but it makes no sense to say... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using my ancestral background and my country of origin as the basis for my claim, I am going to present some differences as to why I am in agreement. In Guyana (my homeland) I am not allowed to call an adult by their given name. I would have to refer to them as uncle or auntie and then insert their name. It is disgraceful for a younger person to call adults by their name. The reason is that the culture dictates that you are not on equal grounds or have earned the right to call them on their real name. In America it is okay to refer to someone regardless of age by their given name. Another difference is chivalry. As time progresses humans forget to be polite to one another. I was brought up to say, good morning, please and thank you. Opening doors and letting people finish speaking instead of interrupting and cursing in public or at parents. Today these rules do not apply to others because they are considered redundant. There is no obligation to commit to these standards and it is socially acceptable in todays ... Durga Puja Essay Dusshera/Durga Puja Vijyadashmi or popularly known as Dusshera also called as Durga puja in other eastern parts of the country is celebrated as one of the most popular festival, all across the country with some minor traditional and cultural changes, as per the local myths and fables except for the one real story, which most of us know but just to refresh what we read and were taught by our parents and grandparents regarding the festival I should narrate it once again. The term implies Vijaya meaning victory and Dashmi meaning tenth day of the Hindu calendar in the month of lunar calendar of Ashwin corresponding to the month of September or October according to the English/Georgian calendar, but now the question arises who won and over whom? What actually happened? Dusshera/Durga Puja is celebrated as the triumph of good over evil. • 5. Essay about Humans Must Adapt to Global Warming No one in the scientific community would argue with the premise that the earth s climate has changed over the eons of its existence or that it will continue to change. The arguments now revolve around if mankind s use of the environment has specifically altered our climate. Scientists have described our world as a clump of matter that spun out of the sun to join its journey hurling though cold and empty space. Our spaceship earth would match the moon and have no climate had not molten core continued to pierce its cold crust, spewing forth chemicals that would eventually form our atmosphere, our seas and life itself ( Mcphee ). The geological record shows a tumultuous earth, but because the events occur slowly over millions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an online edition of the Journal Science, one team suggests that glaciers flowing into the Amundsen Sea are melting twice as fast near the coast than they has ten years age. These glaciers help drain the West Antarctic Sea, and area that consists of enough ice to raise the sea leveltwenty or so feet ( Revkin ). As the receding glaciers and polar ice caps part of the natural gerological process, or is the human s comsumption of fossil fuels to blame? Do we as humans face a dilemma of rising seas of our own making or is the earth following it own path and we can only be observers of events that our beyond our control? The earths history is recorded in rocks, tree ring, ice cores, and mud. We must assume that the climates were warmer or colder based on the type of fossiled fauna left in the geological record. No actual evidence is left in rock formations that shows the chemical make up of historic atmospheres. Scientists have recently by passed this dilemma by coring glaciers, allowing them to look into past atmospheres as old as 750,000 years. Glaciers are made by compaction of snow on land. As the snow compacts and gets deeper it is subject to alteration and movement owing to its own weight and pressure (Curry 292). Snow deposits transform into a glaciers at an average depth of about 10 meters. The deeper the firn snow us the stronger the bonds between snow flakes become through a process called sublimation, thus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Relationship Between Frida Kahlo And Diego Rivera Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, two Mexican artists, entered into a consensually non monogamous relationship. Frida was very well aware that it was not in Diego to be a monogamous man. We know this because she answered the question of why she puts up with his affairs like this; Look, Diego is how he is, and that is how I love him. I cannot love him for what he is not. (Clancy Sigal). These relationships are basically ways to engage in sex outside of the relationship but they differ from cheating because the partner is aware. Different types of non monogamous relationships include partner swapping, swinging and polyamory (Pappas). Studies are just beginning to be started about consensual non monogamy, but there is some evidence that these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Going back to the toast at Frida and Diego s wedding, marriage was stated to be a political act that occurred in the name of tradition. Monogamy is also enforced by culture, economics, social factors and it is the normal thing to do (Robinson). As we saw in the movie, Frida s mother was highly opposed to her marriage to Diego because he had been divorced twice already and because he was a Communist; her fear was that he would not be good to Frida. Even in society today, when a man and woman are not monogamous, they are frowned upon or referred to in derogatory terms. Research shows that promiscuity raised the likelihood of reproduction and survival, but monogamy worked where there was a low female to male ratio, limiting men s options (Borreli, Are Humans Naturally Monogamous?). Until Diego crossed the boundaries of having sex with Frida s sister, their relationship seemed to work for them. Borreli noted that researchers found non monogamous people have specific differences in how their brain responded to reward, described as a cheater s high, attributed to mutations in receptor genes that respond to the hormone vasopressin. Maybe Diego really was on to something when he told Frida he was physically incapable of being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of course, there are those who believe they work more efficiently in a cluttered area, or claim to remember where an object was placed but now cannot seem to find it. However, once organization, daily rituals , or the unbearable urge to adjust something comes into play, Psychologydescribes this as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) or also referred to as Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD). • 11. Romantic Antics during the Romantic Period of Music What makes you think of the Romantic Period in music? The music period deemed the Romantic Period was brought into place by the major social and political stresses following the French Revolution, having the outcome of trends worldwide. The Romantic Period itself, outside of music, was a dramatic movement that was caused by rebelling everything that the Classical Period held as far as standards in music, art, and societal living. This rebellion against the cultural norm caused differing standpoints between logic and emotion, science and faith, freedom and oppression, capitalism and socialism, and also the difference between structured music and expressive music. The composers during this period were interesting in that they were able to construct such a stylistic way of writing, and preforming music, in such a short time. Some artists in this time that were crucial to this development of music were Chopin, and Schumann, who will be later discussed. Frederic Chopin was given an early start in music. He was born on March 1, 1879 in Zelazowa Wola, Poland. The young boy had not but aged 7 years when he wrote his first composition. Imagine that, a second grader who knew how to write his own compositions. Personally I think that is amazing because sometimes it seems nearly impossible to write anything that is original. This young boy was soon after sent to the Warsaw Conservatory of Music, where he studied under the Polish Josef Elsner. His early beginnings in music did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Point Of View In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow... A story s point of view helps the reader get the writer s perspective. As such, one can determine the truth about a character thus affecting their response to the character. It also influences the reader s response based on what the narrator knows or their objective. In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper the point of view is in the first person. The narrator participates in the action of the story. In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, the writer uses the third person point of view and lets the reader know how the characterfeel. As a result, her physician husband decides to place her under homecare to help cure her of her disease (3). However, this only serves to intensify her illness and put a damper on her marriage. The first person point of view in this story helps one to catch a vision of what a suffering woman must endure. The first narrative also influences the reader to be able to connect to the narrator in a humane way. Further, the first person standpoint in this story provides the reader access only to the woman s thoughts thus limiting the reader. However, the limited point of view in this story helps is crucial in letting the reader get into the shoes of the wife and experience the feeling of isolation throughout the story. Rhino Poaching Essay Poaching of Rhinos: A Growing Transnational Crime Industry In 2011, the West African black rhino was declared extinct by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation and Nature). Now all five rhino species left are in the endangers list (Poaching: The Statistics). The reason the rhino population has nearly been driven to extinction is due to poaching. The rhinos are being hunted and killed for their horns, which is a valued ingredient used in traditional Asian medicines (Poaching of Rhinos in the Spotlight). This is because rhino horn is more expensive than most things out there. For example, one kilo of marijuana is rated at about $5,060, one kilo of gold at about $42, 972, and a kilo of cocaine at about $48,885. However, the value of a kilo of rhino horn is about $100,000. Most of the characters that were killed for the Revolution in Dickens book had their name knitted into a registry. This can be compared to a common Greek Myth of the three fates, where they weave names into a tapestry before they come to an end. In Charles DickensA Tale of Two Cities Book Two is titled The Golden Thread, which comes from a Greek Myth, the theme of the myth is exhibited through multiple characters in the book. It is known are Greek Mythology, that there is to be three sister deities who together determine a person s destiny. For example, they will say when a person will die. • 15. My Personal Statement On My Life For as long as I can remember, I was told I could do anything I put my mind to if I was willing to put forth the effort. My parents played the essential role of providing resources that would instill a good work ethic and passion in me. While my options are limitless, I have spent most of my academic career preparing me for a future in scientific research and academia. Enumerable factors have molded me into the passionate person that I am today, so the answer to Who are you? is not simple but is rather a culmination of life experiences. I learned the values of respect, honor, and drive from both my biological family and my church family. I grew up going to Sunday school in the Episcopal Church where I learned what it meant to have morals and how to be an all around decent human being. At home, my parents taught me similar values and lead by example while explaining the importance of kindness towards others. Growing up in the Episcopal Church has grounded me in such a way that I can find a home and family anywhere in the world simply by finding a church with the iconic red doors. My spirituality and dedication to service formed me into a caring person who can never say no to someone in need. The church has always been my outlet where I can find peace and serenity, so in return I dedicate my time to giving back in honor of all it has provided for me. Reason: It is primarily in cities that a nation s cultural traditions are preserved and generated The author claim is twofold, first it says that the governments must ensure that their major cities receive the financial support they need in order to thrive. B)It is primarily in cities that a nation s cultural traditions are preserved and generated. I disagree totally with the claim presented above by the author. The premises on which the author claims has fallacies which I am going to discuss below. The number one reason why I disagreed with the claim is that because culture is made of elements that are only present in small cities or towns . If we look at any nation American or non American. we will find that cultural traditions and customs take origin in small cities, towns or rural areas and not in big cities. The warmth of rural areas, small cities, towns gives birth to folk lore, customs, traditions, culture, music and literature. The new cultural politics of difference trash the monolithic and homogeneous in the name of diversity and reject the abstract and the universal in light of the concrete. Cornel West, through the use of the three major historical periods (Age of Europe, America s Domination, Civil Rights Movement), explains the importance of intervention in order to change and improve upon the mistakes of the past and reject the false degrading stereotypes that were created during those times. Throughout his essay, Cornel West uses examples of the battle between the people of color and White Progressives effectively because it allows the readers to understand that for changes to be made one must be simultaneously be in the group challenging the system and in the system itself in order for social reforms to occur within the society they live in. According to Cornel West, the new cultural politics of difference faces three basic challenges intellectual, existential, and political (West 3). Many say that you d have to do something unthinkable to have a punishment as grim as exile. During the lawless time of monsters and unruly Kings, the Anglo Saxon era of poems make that all very practical. The creators of each poem discuss the personal endeavors of each exile and how they each come to their own acceptance, or not. The seafarer , Wanderer , and the Wife s Lament use various literary devices to express the emotional toil, sorrow, and each theme of their exile. First of all, in The Seafarer the writer discusses the internal conflicts he is having among the waves of the sea. Even though this self chosen exile causes this man pain and sorrow, peace is not a common entity for him while on land. The time for journeys would come and my soul / called me eagerly out, sent me over/ the horizon, seeking foreigners homes. (lines 36 38). The gallant mortal does not doubt that there is no fear among his heart, but his longing for the tides is far too strong to be confined to the dry, lifeless land. His experiences only bring him back to where he feels at home the most the sea. • 28. Inherit The Wind, By Charles Darwin Every living thing on this planet has evolved from the same original specie. Having this information, could it not be concluded that all living things are, to some degree, related? Yes. To further explain, evolution is a theory that states that organisms have diversified or in other words, have changed into a more complex living thing. In the book Inherit The Wind, the townsfolk of the play disagree heavily with the theory of evolution. Common ancestry is the theory that states that all living things share a common ancestor or common descendent, which then ties into evolution. Speciation, both allopatric and parapatric, show evidence for common ancestry. Speciation is when new species arise due to an evolutionary process. There are multiple and observable accounts that are used to support the theory of common ancestry. Charles Darwins book, The Descent of Man And Selection in Relation to Sex, goes into specifics with these accounts with placental mammals. Placental mammals are mammals that nourish their embryos using the mother s blood supply. Common Ancestry in placental mammals provides sufficient scientific evidence, such as the similarities in bone structures and genetic coding between animals, to support the theory of evolution. One of the biggest arguments against the theory of evolution and the theory of common ancestry is that they are theories. A scientific theory is an explanation for something in the natural world supported by facts and has successfully gone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This brought tears to Knox s eyes and he left the church and locked himself in his chambers for a couple days pondering his decision. Ultimately he took the call and began to preach at the church. Knox criticized the functions of the Catholic church in his sermons comparing certain aspects of it to Daniel 7:24 25. Knox said that the text, showed that the lives of clergy, from popes downwards; how the doctrines of the Church, particularly that of justification through works of man s invention ; how ecclesiastical enactments such as clerical celibacy, compulsory fasting, and observance of days; and how such blasphemous pretensions as those which claimed papal infallibility and power over purgatory all combined proved that the Roman church ... Darwin s Theory Of Biological Evolution Evolution refers to the processes that have transformed life on Earth from its earliest forms to the vast diversity that characterizes it today (Campbell, 1993). However, a lot of things can change over a period of time. The Father of Evolution who is known as Charles Darwin, developed the theory of biological evolution. This theory has long been debated during and after darwin s time. Biological evolution can be seen through a momentous change in organisms by changing of the genetic composition. Creation is always busy making new scenes, new things and new Worlds (Weiner 3). In the bible it states that all living things were created at the hands of God. No one has ever desired to challenge the Catholic Church of this belief. Until a man by the name of Charles Darwin discovered the wonders on Daphne Major. After his survey of the island, he concluded that there was something about the finches beaks that made them unique to each of the islands. Making meticulous observations of the beaks he saw that each finch had a specific set of beaks. This allowed them to adapt to a specific niche in their environment. What is more. the tame little birds that Darwin had found hopping around beneath the bushes were unique too. They were not relatives of blackbirds, walders, wrens, and finches, as Darwin had thought when he bagged them (Weiner 28). Darwin speculated about how natural selectionis one of the main concepts for biological evolution. Natural selection consisted of descent with modification, known as a gradual process over time, heritable biological traits become either more or less common in a population. When the next generation of that species gains that dominant trait in the population, this is known as descent with modification. Observing descent with modification is still prominent during that time period. According to the Variation Lab, natural selection was the driving mechanism for biological evolution. ... Raising Tuition Rates Raising Tuition Rates Tuition rates have been rising exponentially since World War II and the GI Bill... which allowed for, ...an explosive increase in the number and proportion of Americans who go to college (Nathan 148). This change, though largely due to inflation, has been rising past what families can afford to pay, and has led to difficulties for students exiting high school. These difficulties have been seen by campuses, and many already have a plan to help these students pay for the rocketing tuition prices. This escalating problem has been caused by multiple entities, individuals, and ideals. Firstly, between 1985 and 1995, the federal and state funding has decreased by almost twenty five percent, and since then has decreased to account for only fifty percent of the public universitys budget, as more of the government s moneyhas been allotted to the needs of the country s healthcare, welfare, and prisons. Also, universities have increased the percentage of their budgets allocated to administration roles, mostly in an attempt to influence government and to market their degree and certificate programs (Nathan 149). Both countries are constitution based federal republics and have bicameral legislatures consisting of the Senate and House of Representatives in the United States (Congress) and House of Assembly and House of Representatives in Nigeria (National Assembly). Drug resistance has become an obstacle in maximizing the clinical benefit of ART and consequently, routine HIV genotyping is recommended prior to ART initiation during viral rebounds and on the failure of an ART regimen. Successful PCR amplification of PR and RT genes is essential regardless of which method is used for sequencing. Results from this study show that not only it is possible to detect but also to characterize virus that continues to be produced in low levels in such patients. The samples with LLV were amplified to determine whether LLV present in patients on effective ART regimen resulted from the development of drug resistance. Out of the 31 samples that were amplified using the optimized protocol, seven had no product by the time library preparation was set up. The likelihood of the loss of PCR products during clean up exists. There is a high possibility of mishandling the sample during shipping and receiving of the samples. Instead of screw cap tubes, the samples were shipped on a 96 well plate with a film on top, which is not ideal as per protocol. Additionally, the ice packs had melted by the time the lab received samples for sequencing. Since DNAdoes not evaporate easily, lack of proper shipping and storage techniques could have led to samples spilling or possible degradation. Seeing as it was the main arena for combat during the Civil War, the south felt many effects from the war (N). The prolonged war ultimately led to an economic decline and lack of resources in the Confederacy along with a negative sentiment among southerners (N). Due to the internal demise, the Confederacy could not carry on a war without the support of its home front. • 38. Analysis of Mending Wall by Robert Frost Essay Analysis of Mending Wall by Robert Frost Robert Frost is describing a process in Mending Wall , which is repairing a wall that separates his territory and his neighbor s. The wall was deteriorated during the winter, when the cold frost created cracks and gaps in the wall. He uses a nearly infantile imagination to unravel the mystery of the damage that appeared suddenly in spring. While they are tediously laboring to reconstruct the fence, Frost is imploring his neighbor about the use of the wall; his apple trees can be clearly distinguished from his neighbor s pine trees. Yet underneath this quotidian routine, Frost goes beyond the surface to reveal its figurative meaning. The poem renders an apparent question: Why do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also uses other devices such as a pun, applied in the line, And to whom I was like to give offence. The last word of the line simply emphasizes the importance of the subject, the fence. The most prominent figure of speech, however, is the ironic, Good fences make good neighbors. This is completely opposite of the connotation of the poem. Fences do not make neighbors, but strangers that are apathetic towards each other. The neighbor seems to prefer this approach, to eliminate any risks of trespassing or offenses. Yet what the fence really does is hinder the development of friendship. This is comparable to the barriers of bitterness, anger, hate, and fear men put between one another that obstruct love and friendship. The poet also used imagery to appeal to the senses. The puzzling force that abhors the wall sends the frozen ground swell under it, and spills the upper boulders in the sun. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Edgar Allan Poe Revlutionized Literature in the 19th Century Edgar Allan Poe revolutionized the literary world of the nineteenth century. Poe is a well known author from the early 1800 s, who was part of the dark romanticism movement. While later in life he was a brilliant writer, Edgar Allan Poe faced many problems in his early life. Although Poe experienced death within his family at a young age, the hardships he encountered are thought to have influenced his dark writing style. These death inspired elements within Poe s writing were ahead of their time. However, Edgar Allan Poes excellent use of descriptive imagery and suspense is what makes his writing unique. These stylistic devices are evident in Poe s famous short stories, including The Tell Tale Heart and The Cask of Amontillado . Edgar Allan Poe uses imagery to develop a strong mood for readers in his short stories, this is part of what make his writing unique. For instance, in Poe s piece The Cask of Amontillado , imagery is used to develop his signature dark mood for readers to experience. Poe uses descriptive details of the setting to enhance the mood. This is especially shown when the narrator states Its walls had been lined with human remains piled to the vault overhead, in the fashion of the great catacombs of Paris... From the fourth the bones had been thrown down, and lay promiscuously upon the earth, forming at one point a mound of some size (Poe 5). • 40. Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil mystery plays a huge role when it comes to plot, and character development. At the end of this story the minister who is wearing the veil rhetorically asks, What but the mystery which it obscurely typifies has made this piece of crape so awful? (Hawthorne 1044). Hawthorne has built up this character so carefully and intensely to this point, to quite directly state that this veil on his face represents mystery. The minister also begs the question of, what else does it represent? Asking his congregation, who also persecuted him, to look deep in themselves and figure out the real reason for his apparel. The minister blatantly reveals that his veil typifies mystery in a sense where his congregation cannot keep themselves together, unless they know the absolute truth. Hawthorne uses this veil as a direct representation of mystery and self control, but he also uses it as a symbol of a divine controller, tying in spirituality and religion. Towards the beginning of the story the minister reveals himself looking different, as he wore an obvious black veil over his face. His audience hated the idea of his new look as they muttered amongst themselves, I don t like it, and Our parson has gone mad! (Hawthorne 1038). These two particular quotes obviously reveal the initial distaste for the veil, but it also shows that the congregation could not even control themselves, as they wondered why he wore this disgusting cover. The Issue Of Legalization Of Marijuana Essay Legalization of Marijuana The role that social policies have in the lives of every citizen cannot be understated, as the rules, regulations, and laws that govern our society provide the foundation off which our social welfare system operates. Over the past several decades, the social policy issue of the legalization of marijuana has gained substantial traction in the public eye, making it a priority topic to be addressed on the government agenda. With Colorado and Washington becoming the first states in the U.S. to legalize marijuana (TIME, 2012), Alaska and Oregon were soon to follow (Fortune, 2016), prompting more discussion and research around the effects of legalizing marijuana in North America, particularly in regard to social policy. Synopsis Marijuana control has been intertwined in Canada s social, legal, and political system for over half a decade, with the issue really gaining traction in the 1960 s as policing began more heavily enforcing the law on marijuana (Fischer, Ialomiteanu, Russell, Rehm, Mann, 2016). Normally C. albicans causes no damage and lives symbiotically with the human or animal host, even helping to breakdown minute amounts of fiber that are eaten in the host s diet. These both act to alter the host s body chemistry in a way that is favorable to the over growth of C. albicans. If the host is immunocompromised to begin with as in the case of AIDS patients or organ transplant receivers that are on immunosupresive drugs C. albicans infections are very prominent. A common symptom among AIDS patients is oral thrush, where there is a huge over population of C. albicans on the back of the hosts tongue, it appears as white speckles. When C. albicans becomes pathogenic, or switches it s phenotype to the hyphal form to invade the host cell epithelium, be it the mouth or the gut or the vagina; these infections are superficial and can usually be treated with common anti fungal agents like fluconazole, diflucan, azole related anti fungal drugs, amphotericin B, fungizone ( I think this is the same as amphotericin B). However in severely immunocompromised individuals like transplant patients or AIDS patients C. albicans can become systemic. That is the fungus will travel through the blood stream and infect any major organ it can. He describes how the western philosophy has described how to make a better world by just simply giving the individuals more choice in the world. Schwartz then later in the lecture goes on to explain how this ever growing amount of choice can lead to a paralysis of choice. According to Schwartz this paralysis is being exemplified by the amount of choices given to them. This has led to an opposite effect where instead of giving more choices equals a better life, now more choices means no choices at all leading to no choice at all. Schwartz gives another example of cellphones doing ludicrous things such as nose trimming, toothbrush and even a lighter. Here exemplifies how the growing number of choices has led to the elderly simply not getting cell phones or televisions because they cannot understand how to use the call feature or how to change the channel of the television. The vast amount of choices has also lead to the agency of one s choices to decease as well. With so many options our decisions rely totally on us according to Schwartz, that if our choice in anything is so much as not perfect, then our decision was a bad decision and one could have made a better decision. The Hypothesized Finnish Population Bottleneck The hypothesized Finnish population bottleneck is supported by archaeological evidence that shows the number of artifacts significantly decreased at roughly the same time as hypothesized. When taken together, the genetic and archaeological records suggest that there may have been a population bottleneck. The hypothesized populationbottleneck circa 4000 BP (2000 BCE) has been increasingly researched over the past few decades, as genetic evidence has come to support the existing archaeological evidence for such an event. Recent genetic testing has shown that there is very low diversity on the Y chromosome, suggesting that the number of male ancestral lineages was small, especially compared to the rest of Europe. This is evidence for a population bottleneck that killed a large portion of the population at some point in the past. Since the beginning of life itself, some species have lived and prospered while other species have gone extinct never to be seen again by mankind. Because of this, some would claim that extinction is natural and not significantly problematic to the world that we live in. Others, however, understand that due to climate change, habitat loss, and poaching, more and more species are becoming endangered which leads to a chain reaction that can be devastating to ecosystems. Species such as the Chinook salmon, gorillas, tropical sharks, and polar bears are all directly affected by climate change, species such as northern spotted owls, Sumatran tigers, and lemurs are greatly harmed due to habitat loss, and species such as the sea turtle, Javan rhinoceros, African elephant, and the Red Fronted Macaw are all affected by poaching driving them all closer and closer to becoming extinct. Bill Freedmen, author of Endangered Species Human Causes Of Extinction and Endangerment notes, scientists approximate that present extinction rates are 1,000 to 10,000 times higher than the average natural extinction rate. These distressing numbers should be acted upon to save the endangered species and avoid the catastrophic change to this planet if these species were to become extinct. Five of these books are known as the major prophets while the other twelve books are known as the minor prophets. The prophets in the Old Testament are very important. The prophets spoke for God and were called by the Lord to do five specific things (Hindson Yates, 2012 p. 287). They were to tell the people to turn back to the Lord, remind people to conform to the Law, they were also to rebuild the nation and create a spiritual revival in the people as well as a regeneration in spiritual birth (Hindson, 2010, p. 123 124). Prophets were also given a very unique talent that they used for God. One of the most unique features of the true Old Testamentprophets was their ability to predict (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Biblical prophets speak to future events as though they had already occurred (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Though prophets are known for their ability to foresee the future, they also address issues that the Israelites were facing. The prophets spoke on many issues such as idolatry, social injustice, and religious ritualism. Frederick E. Greenspahn addressed the prophets input on idolatry. Israelite prophets seem particularly concerned with this problem: their land is full of idols... idols of silver and gold which they made in order to prostrate [to them], says Isaiah (Greenspahn, 2004).
