A Brief Look at Modernism
Modernism was a prevalent movement and developed an era in the twentieth century that shaped
the coming decades and Western ideas. Stemming from World War I, its culture, art and philosophy
reveals the mindset of modernity and how the historical events of that time influenced life and
society. T.S. Eliot was a part of the literary and artistic movement called Modernism, which can be
seen best in his poem The Waste Land. The concept of the wasteland was a powerful one to his
generation. His poem depicts an image of the modern world through the perspective of the
common man finding himself hopeless and confused about the condition of society. The poem
paints a picture of a disjointed and desolate world through apparent confusion and chaos that that
is achieved through fragments and allusions. The Waste Land demonstrates the present day
wasteland as a metaphor of modern Europe to depict the loss of culture and history that was
suffered due to the war. Arguably, the most important aspect of the poem is its fragmented nature
used to depict a post World War I wasteland. Rather than using facts to show the state of Europe,
Eliot uses several poetic elements to convey this, particularly the allusive and obscure to paint an
image of physical desolation of the war torn society and also communicate a sense of loss and
despair. The image of London, in the first section The Burial Dead, gives a sense of the trauma and
cultural desolation caused by the war. The narrator,

Tribal Criminal Jurisdiction
Before the Europeans arrived in the Americas, the Indigenous Tribes had their own languages,
customs, and legal systems. These legal systems were completly new to the Europeans, because
they did not focus on the Anglo norms of ctime and punsihment, instead, they focused on the
restoration of peace and tranquility within the tribe. When any members had a disagreement, they
would present the problem to the tribal elders who would sit with the two parties and their
families and simply talk; they would talk until a unified decision could be made. This unanimous
decision would be the final one, no one could undermine the decision of the elders. This custom
was called the Peacemaking Circle and wasso alien to the invading Europeans, they saw the
Indigenous People as savages, desperatly in need of salvation. As time went on and European and
eventually American influence spread across the country, Tribes began to feel their sovereignty
threatned as they could no longer deal with wrongdoers on their land the same way they did in the
past. The Federal Government began intrude onto Indian Land. In 1817 the U.S passed the General
Crimes Act1, whcih gave the Federal Government jurisdictionin Indian Country when a crime was
commited if either the victim or derfendent was a non Native. Then, in 1885, the U.S passed the
Major Crimes Act2 which gave the Federal Government jurisdiction in Indian Country over major
crimes, such as murder, when the defendent was a Native. The Major Crimes

Circuit Of Logisim That Controls An Entry Gate
CS25410 Assignment Report
The task was to implement a circuit in logisim that controls an entry gate. The gate has 3 possible
inputs; a ВЈ1 coin paid in, a ВЈ2 coin paid in or the cancel button pressed. The gate must store the
amount of money paid in and has four possible behaviours for outputs. Once the gate has received
ВЈ4 it must open, in terms of implementation a LED must light up and stay lit until another input is
received, any extra money in the machine must count towards the next entry fee. The other
behaviours are based off when the cancel button is pressed, a LED relating to the amount of money
paid into the machine towards an entry fee e.g. a ВЈ1 LED if ВЈ1 is in memory etc. up to the
maximum of ВЈ3, In the circuit these LED s must stay on until the next input.
The general structure of my implementation can be split up into three segments; Input, storage, and
output. In the input section there are 2 bits of memory to temporarily store the 3 different inputs, 01
representing ВЈ1, 10 representing ВЈ2 and 11 representing cancel pressed. This memory is cleared
once it has been clocked into the main storage of the system. The storage is implemented with 3
bits of memory as there are 6 possible states for the memory, ВЈ0 to ВЈ5, the 1 and 2 bit are only
affected once an input has been clocked in however the 4 bit is only affected by the carry bit of
the 2 bit memory and is cleared as soon as an input button has been pressed as this was part of the
assignment specification.

Internal And External Factors That Affect The Company s...
All in all, the company s financial position is very bad in 2015, which was quite well in 2014
and in 2013. 2014 was assumed as the best year with respect to net profit and cash flow from
operating activities. On the other hand, year 2015 was well in financing activities only. Similarly,
2013 was the year when the company achieved best assets and equity amount in comparison of
past three years and it also played well cash flow from investing as the rest of the year were with
the higher negative amount. The main objective of the paper is to evaluate the influence of
external factors on the company s future prospects. Therefore, this part of the assignment will
evaluate the Tesco s future prospects in terms of prediction of future success or failure will be done
in this part of assignment. This part of assignment will also explain the internal and external factors
that affect the financial position, financial performance, and share price of Tesco.
Discussion
Taking into consideration of analysis from Part 1 of the assignment, it can be said that Tesco s
financial position in 2015 is not good at all since it is paying off its liabilities from the little profit
that is gained. On the other hand, from the statistical portal of 2015, it is found that Tesco is still on
highest position among the UK s top grocery supermarket. This aspect shows that Tesco is still
popular among its loyal customers and has the highest market share in the industry.
It is noted that market

My Freshmen, Sophomore, And Junior Years
My Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior years were mostly uneventful except more the
unmentionable things that went on at home before I finally just left when my Junior year was
almost over and ended up in a receivement home (a nice little place where kids are stored when
they are freshly removed from their families until the people working there and your social
worker can find another place for you to go) where I stayed for a week before they enrolled me
in their Independent Living program which is for teens that are almost 18 whom nobody wants to

Creating And Executing A New Music Identification System
Introduction/Background Over the past few decades, the way in which we gather and listen to
music has changed substantially. From vinyl albums to virtual music tracks, the world of music has
evolved and will continue to grow even further in the not so distant future. By continually adapting
to the ever changing environment, Spotify has emerged to become one of the leading platforms in
today s world of online music streaming (Chandler, 2011). However, Spotify is far from perfect.
Scope The analysis will explore and evaluate the need for the information system, Spotify, to
implement and improve new as well as existing functionalities to increase the business value for the
current system. These functionalities include: Creating and executing a new music identification
system Enhancing the internal search Improving the external sharing function This analysis,
however, supported by various assumptions. It is assumed that Spotify will hire, or have in
employment, the correct staff to appropriately implement these changes to the system. This system
proposal also makes the assumption that the system will constantly be maintained and updated to
meet constantly changing user requirements. In doing so, the system will consequently be properly
installed and adopted to continually create business value. Systems Request Existing System
Spotify satisfies users needs by allowing them to play music whenever and wherever. However,
what differentiates Spotify from the rest is how

The Other Problem With Women In Aphra Behn s Oroonoko
The novel Oroonoko is an eighteenth century novel that focuses on the problems that occur with
slave trade and how women are involved in it. The article The Other Problem with Women:
Reproduction and Slave Culture in Aphra Behn s Oroonoko. , goes into great detail stating that
women were viewed as property in this slave trade, focusing specifically on one of the characters in
the book Imoinda. Stated in the article, Imoinda was a possession even before she was a slave
(Sussman 215). She was viewed as a piece of property as a womanbecause she was expected to do
anything the king or Oroonokoasked of her before she was a slave. Slave trade had a big impact on
women and population as birth rates decreased immensely. Death rates also started to increase
because of the crucial environment and the constant work that was expected out of the many
men and women (214). There is controversy over whether the environment slaves were kept in
were the reason for the many deaths and abortions, or if it was because women did not want to
have their children raised as slaves (214). In the novel, Oroonoko made the decision to physically
destruct the bodies of his wife and future child because of the conditions he did not want them
living under. After killing his wife, he mirrored the injuries he had given to her. Oroonoko cut out
his stomach to represent the abortion of his child, he writes on his own body to signify the power
over a woman instead of slavery(220). The conclusion that is drawn from this article is that
women were viewed as a total piece of property, but Imoinda was also an erotic figure as she was in
control of her own territories (221). Imoinda tried getting over the stereotype of being a property
and had gained respect from other people as they realized she is a human and not owned by
anyone. Imoinda was viewed as a property, yet she gained much respect from the slaves and they
viewed her as a leader. She seemed to have overcome the stereotype of being a property, yet she still
allowed Oroonoko to take her and her child s life. She accepted her death and smiled with joy as it
was occurring (224). The murder that Oroonoko decided to act upon can be viewed as a heroic
move, but also

The Farmer s Dilemma Book Report
B.The detective is in this story was a smart ,teenage, girl, Deila. One of five words that I would
describe her would be... Curious She is always looking for adventure and mystery. She is the
oldest and always trying new things so her little sister can learn from her mistakes. One example
in the text my exploration had two main objects: one, to see more of the building, because (
creepily or not ) it was by the far most impressive thing I ever being able to claim as my own, and
that provoked and me burning curiosity to see every nook and cranny. Stubborn Deila is stubborn
because she can be hard to deal with, since she is a typical teenage girl who cannot go anywhere
without cell service. Deila fights with her parents a lot and actually... Show more content on

Then thunder had struck,so loud that my ears went momentarily numb. It came in rolls,
constantly and defeating, rumbling all the way into the center of my chest. I stepped away from
the window. I started to have the odd feeling that this was, on level, weirdly personal. No Deila it
s just a storm. An act of nature. But the room around me grew darker. And it wasn t the kind of
darkness that comes with the nightfall. Something caught my eye at the seam where the ceiling
and wall met above the window. A dark oily looking fog crawled along the plaster, winding its
way down the vines of the wallpaper as if it were the part of the design. Slowly, I turned around.
A pulsing layer of black smoke filled the room. I lost myself watching it slide down towards me. ,
as the smoke descend the walls, its movement hypnotizing. It seemed to breathe, somehow pausing
with each inhale, going faster with each exhale...... I lost myself in watching it slide down towards
me. Then I became vaguely aware of the horrible creaking noise, like a building was going to
collapse. Thumping Footsteps in the hall outside.

Etapa del Proceso de Estrategis de Communicacion Essay
La ultima etapa del proceso de estrategia de comunicaciГіn es la evaluaciГіn de las propuestas de
concepto, creatividad y medios desarrolladas.

Elementos a evaluar
2. La PersuasiГіn:
Elementos a evaluar
escasa repercusiГіn en la persuasiГіn.
Se debe evitar que la utilizaciГіn de elementos destinados a agradar

Gainesville Case
One common expense that goes along with selling a home is paying real estate commissions.
While real estate commission rates are hardly set in stone , they average is 6 percent of the sales
price in a typical sale. However, many sellers in a down market will try to maximize their net
profit and negotiate commission down with an agent. In fact, I know many agents willing to
reduce commissions down to 4 percent, giving a buyer s agent the standard 3 percent and taking
only 1 percent for themselves. Yet, in all of my conversations with seller and with agents, reducing
commissions can come with a price all its own. Volume Professional real estateagents take their

I had spent about a year researching various places to move and I identified Gainesville as a great
place, a conclusion also reached by Money Magazine in 1995. One of the reasons I thought
Gainesville would be a good move was the low cost of housing. My first purchase was a mobile
home, on a one acre lot, in a nearby city. That worked out very well. The seller s agent made a
mistake at closing that saved me $2,500 on what was supposed to be a $28,000 transaction. The
mortgage was five years and paid off on time. I still own the lot though the mobile home is no
longer there. A couple of years later I bought my first house in Gainesville. I grew up in New
York City. Half a million dollars would not buy the attached house with the postage stamp sized
backyard I grew up in. I also lived in Boston in the 1980s, where $250,000 would buy a large,
though very chic walk in closet. My first house in Gainesville was on the city line and cost me
$40,000 in a private, owner financed sale. It came without an A/C system but a small window
unit made up for that. It sat on a 1/4 acre lot, virtually unheard of now in Boston or New York. I
paid 10% down and got a 30 year mortgage at a very acceptable rate of 6.5%. Over the next couple
of years I bought, and still own, three more houses in the same way. Two are on the same block as
my original house and one is on the next block. In 1998 few people thought any of the houses

Interior Dorm Design Company For Dorms
A.KC Design is an interior dorm design company for dorms. Our interior designing is the art or
process of designing, often including the arranging, of the dorm room, and labor buying the
decorations. As an interior designer as myself, is someone who directs and takes control in such
projects. Interior dorm designing is a multifaceted skilled profession that includes development,
creativity, thinking, and communicating with the owners of the project and the management
and execution of the design. What I do is a process of shaping the experience of an interior space
that reflects the owner s personality. It all started when everyone complimented me on my dorm
room and asked me to do there s. Then and there is when KC Design was born. B.We are unique
in a lot of ways, there is no other like us. Other interior dorm design businesses are all online or
in an app. So our market structure is considered to be a monolithic competition. Which is a type
of market structure in which many other businesses sell products that are similar to us but not
identical. There are no dorm design businesses that will knock on your dorm nor move furniture
themselves. My business is an intangible service. In the near future I would like KC Design to be
worldwide in every college campus. Which means I would have to have lots of universal
employees nationwide. Our availability of substitutes can be those whom wish to design their own
rooms themselves or choose not to do business with us KC Design.

Summary Of Caroline B. Cooney s Code Orange
Caroline B. Cooney s book Code Orange , was about a teenage boy, Mitchell Mitty Blake, who
supposedly got smallpox. Mitty is visiting his family s cabin in Connecticut, when Mitty opens a
book with an envelope. He opens the envelope and sees scabs. Mitty reads the page it was on and
find that it was a smallpox scab. The book is mainly about Variola Major, also known as
smallpox, and the different ways of prevention and vaccines. When Mitty inhales the scab, he
thinks he has smallpox and waits for the effects. He then finds out that in the older days, this
was a prevention method. Terrorist can harm the environment by unleashing deadly diseases.
They are known as bio terrorists. Mitty encounters them after he thinks he has smallpox. One
prevention was scrapping a small piece of skin off your arm and putting cowpox in the wound.
You would only have the symptoms of cowpox and would never come down with smallpox.
Personally, I did not enjoy the book. It didn t get all that interesting until the last couple of
chapters. Before that, it spewed facts in my face and lacked an intriguing plot. I learned a lot
from this book, but You would be better off reading a science journal, magazine, or website.
Otherwise, it was an okay book. I looked at everything I could access related to smallpox. The

bloodstream. The Chinese would take the scabs of smallpox victims and crush them, and sniff
them through a straw. One other thing was ring vaccination. If one person contracted the disease,

The Powerful Character Of Dimmesdale In Nathaniel...
Dimmesdale is a powerful person in the Puritan community, but he was being used to influence the
future of the new world. Nathaniel Hawthorne was a Puritan himself, so it is obvious that the bible
would hold a great affect on his writing. Throughout the story Dimmesdale is both close to god and
the devil, being a minister and a sinner. Nathaniel Hawthornewrites many hints of an internal
struggle, some people think of it as being human, but it is to show the power of good and evil, god
and the devil, guilt in a person s heart. During chapter 16 of The Scarlet LetterHester says to Pearl
Once in my life I met the Black Man! This scarlet letter is his mark! after which, when
Dimmesdale was coming down the path of the forest Pearl asks Is it the Black Man? . This is a
part of Hawthorne s interpretation on original sin. Puritans believed that everybody was born
with sin and the only way to heaven was to receive God s grace. Pearl who is so young may see the
devil inside of Dimmesdale because she has not received grace, while the townspeople see God
through him because they have received grace.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

And he said to them, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. This is another great bible
reference in the novel. During the scene when the meteors fell in the sky, it appeared to be an A to
Dimmesdale, for his sin adultery, but to the townspeople it stood for Angel . Nathaniel Hawthorne

The Age of Absolutism in France
Absolutism in France
(Order #A2068670) European monarchs did not simply emerge on the scene as absolute rulers but
slowly acquired supreme power over a long period of time. This interest in becoming absolute rulers
infected the European monarchs, becoming particularly acute during the religious wars of the 16th
century. As a result of the chaos and destruction, the kings of Europebegan to consolidate power
into a centralized system with the monarch at the top. By the beginning of the 17th century a
number of European countries had monarchs who exercised absolute power over their
kingdoms. One of the largest and most populated countries in Western Europe during this time
was France, which slowly centralized governmental power in the hands of a single monarch.
France has often been considered to be one of the best examples of how a monarchy assumed
centralized and absolute power; ushering in the Age of Absolutism. Louis XIV of France is
often referred to as the Sun King and is a prime example of a European monarch who exercised
absolute power. However, absolutism in France did not begin with Louis XIV, but with his
grandfather and founder of the Bourbon Dynasty, Henry IV. It was Henry IV who began the
centralization of power by keeping France at peace during most of his reign by tolerating
Protestants. During this time he also strengthened the monarchy s finances by charging royal
officials a fee to inherit their positions. He also lowered taxes in an effort to rebuild

This proves that an image that an artist created for the band can be destroyed by selling out to
companies. If a band created an image of being rebellious, and they sell out; then, they are going
to seem less rebellious and leave their fans betrayed. While this may all be true, the benefits of
artists making deals with corporations are far greater. Such as, A corporation paying for these
costs can make the difference between artists growing their careers, or completely giving up on
the music business altogether (Coates). If an artist cannot pay for the costs of touring and selling
music, then they could use the advertisement to get enough money to keep their dream alive.
Artists making deals with companies has many positives, such as: giving bands exposure, and
helping with the revenue of bands, and making bands more recognizable. There are many benefits
to artists starring in advertisements with corporations, which is why music should be in

An assessment should then be carried out to determine who the winners and losers are of the
fashion high street retailers and this has been completed in the same report. Value and young
retailers, supermarkets, mid market retailers and specialist retailers (in particular foot wear) have
been analysed, by terms of sales, to define which retailers have succeeded and which have
suffered during the recession. By comparing these retailers, it can be understood what the
succeeding retailers have offered consumers over the suffering retailers. Value retailers have stood
out in this report as being a beneficiary of the downturn this growth has been driven by a number
of economic factors, particularly consumers keenness to obtain value for money and genuine
pressure on their household budgets, leading them to trade down on many items. Given continued
reductions in clothing prices, fashion has been particularly attractive relative to other household
spending categories (Mintel, 2010). The report suggests that as might be expected, taking
advantage of sales and offers is more common among those spending less last year as well as in
2010, as is shopping more often in value clothing stores or trading down to less expensive stores
than usual . The report Clothing Retailing Europe 2009 suggests that when the economy starts to
recover, life could get tougher for the value retailers and positioning correctly for the upturn will be
important. So, while ultra low prices and

Federalism In Australia Summary
In the article, Federalism in Australian Constitutional interpretation: signs of reinvigoration? ,
Chordia and Lynch explore the constitutional interpretative approach used by the majority in
Amalgamated Society of Engineers v Adelaide Steamship Co Ltd (1920). The article discusses the
key factors in the majority s decision in Engineers that disadvantaged the states by significantly
increasing the power of the Commonwealth.
Tension between the principles of responsible government and federalism was anticipated by the
framers of the constitution, predicting that the one of the two will eventually cancel the other one
out. This tension surfaced in the majorities decision in Engineers and is explored using the
historical evidence of the framers intentions, the ideas that influenced them, and Justice Gageler s
critique of the Engineers decision. Chordia and Lynch argue that the majorities decision in
Engineers focused on responsible government, while completely ignoring the principles of
Federalism. This is evident in the delivery of the majorities decision, declaring that the two
fundamental features of the Australian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, Gageler argues that the people of the Commonwealth and the people of the states are
members of a unified sovereign nation rather than members of opposing groups. As such, the
principles of responsible government hold that the laws of the commonwealth hold government
accountable to a unified Crown and to the Australian people. The third argument is that federalism
should only function within situations that directly involve an interference between the
commonwealth and the states. In particular, this third argument corresponds with the nationalist
model of federation that supports a single unified head of

Preferred Stock Paper
The Risks of Preferred Stock Portfolios
SLCG Working Paper 1
Abstract Preferred stocks are a hybrid of debt and equity. In this paper, we examine preferred
stocks with an emphasis on the risks of holding portfolios of preferred stocks. We demonstrate that
preferred stocks are similar to debt when the issuing company is financially healthy, and become
more similar to equity when the company s financial condition deteriorates. We show that issuers of
preferred stocks are heavily concentrated in the financial services industry, a fact that exposes
investors who hold a portfolio concentrated in preferred stocks to further risk industry concentration
risk. We illustrate the features of preferred stocks using the Fannie Mae 2008 issuance as ... Show

The Federal Reserve requires banks to maintain a certain level of permanent capital, or Tier 1
capital, to control banks risk profiles and thus protect investors and the banks depositors. This
permanent capital is essentially equity capital since its holders do not have the right to demand
periodic payments or repayment of any principal or face value. In 1996, the US Federal Reserve
ruled that non redeemable, non cumulative preferred stock could be used to meet banks capital
requirements. 2

Online Education Versus Traditional Education
Online Education versus Traditional Education Many students have a difficult time choosing
between online education and traditional education. Both styles of education offer advantages and
disadvantages to the student. There are many things to consider when making this life altering
decision, such as, cost, convenience, time, social interaction, and technology. This information is
meant to inform prospective students looking to further their educationof the pros and cons of both
online education and traditional education. Taking the steps to further your education is a big
decision and one that should not be taken lightly. One should weigh all of his/her options and be

With the busy lifestyles we have today, juggling parenting, working, and school can be
overwhelming so having the structure of a traditional setting may work best. For some, they may
prefer this organized method. Social interaction is a factor in traditional learning as well. A student
would always have face to face interaction with his/her classmates as well as with the instructors.
Some students would prefer the more instant feedback and expressions as well as to read body
language of those they are interacting with. They would have hands on experiences and learning
available to him/her. This learning environment would also provide extracurricular activities such
as, sporting events and book fairs. For most, this way has been our only type of experience with
education and for some students; a deviation from this method of learning can cause anxiety, fear,
and frustration. Obviously someone who does not adapt to change easily should probably stick
with the traditional education. On the other hand, disadvantages some may see with traditional
education would be cost and flexibility. With traditional education a student could easily endure
more expenses such as, cost of transportation for gas to and from school, bus passes, or parking
passes. Furthermore, the cost of on campus housing, or food could be a very costly expense. When
living on campus, students tend to eat out a great deal and

In The Late 1890S They Would Begin To Experiment With Gliders
In the late 1890s they would begin to experiment with gliders of their own. They knew they had
to master the art of controlling flight before they could invent this mechanical flyer. Much of
their early ideas with gliders would be derived from bicycles as they felt bicycles and flyers were
not as different as they seemed. The bicycle required stability and they compared it to the need
for lateral balance in a flyer. Orville thought this problem could be solved with the wings. He
figured if they pilot could control parts of the wing tips it could create force to give balance to
the machine. He would create an early sketch of it and basically is was a lever the would cause
one wing to go up and the other to go down in the opposite direction... Show more content on

They would need a place with suitable high wind speeds to keep their experimentation going. In
their hometown of southern Ohio consistent high wind speeds were uncommon to say the least.
Wilbur figured finding such a place on their own could be problematic. Wilbur would end up
writing to an expert on aviation at the time, Octave Chanute. Octave provided possible places to
conduct his experiment and other questions Wilbur had regarding their experiment. In 1900
Wilbur had decided Kitty Hawk, North Carolina would be a perfect location with its constant
high wind speeds. When they arrived at their new testing sight they began assembling their
glider from back home. Initially they tested their glider without a pilot to make sure it was
working correctly and was safe for use. Eventually they would fly the glider as the pilot and it
could sustain flight for as long as two minutes. This seemed like a major accomplishment but was
just the start of their goal. They were far from the first to achieve flight, but their wing and
elevation ideas were proved successful. Also, this gave them much needed practice in piloting a
flying machine most importantly. They would again take a break with their experiments after this
attempt and return a year later. This time they had built a second glider but it was much larger than
its predecessor. Though the size was impressive it turned out to be a failure. They did succeed in

Juvenile Vs Juvenile Justice System
The criminal justice system conducts trials, determines guilt, and decides what kind of punishments
to give to adults who have committed some sort of crime. Adults, however, are not the only ones
who commit crimes. Kids under 18 can commit crimes too. In 1899, the juvenile justice system
began to form. People thought that kids should be treated differently after committing crimes.
Being younger, they were believed to be more able to rehabilitate than adults, the criminal justice
system was believed to be too harsh for them, and some believed that juvenile s behavior was
based strongly on their parents and the society they lived in. In a peer reviewed article titled Are we
criminalizing adolescence? there is a statement that in a constitutional sense, youth are different
than adults. In this essay, I will talk about what the juvenile justice system is, what it does, how it is
different than the criminal justice system, and how some people believe it should change. As stated
before, the juvenile justice system began to take form around the 19th century. A simple definition
of the American criminal justice system, provided by Wikipedia, is the primary system used to
handle youth who are convicted of criminal offenses. The main goal of the American juvenile
justice system is to rehabilitate offenders. They want to intervene early in offender s lives, hoping
to prevent them from being repeat offenders when they become adults. Another peer reviewed

especially baseball. In 1939 Little League Baseball was founded for anyone between the ages of 5
and 18; leading with their motto Courage, Character, and Loyalty. This idea of courage was
especially true in the year 1950, when Kathryn Johnston tucker her hair under her baseballcap, took
on the nickname Tubby and posed as a boy for her local teams tryouts. It was not until after she
made the team that Kathryn revealed her true identity, leaving the local league no choice but to
allow her play. In just one year after that incident, the Little League regulations were changed (as

In 2009, Jennifer Ring, wrote an article titled Baseball Is War ; in this article she references how
this law, no matter how old it is, will never really be accepted socially. She states that girls
playing baseball is still news. Parents who arrive at a youth baseball game and unfold their
portable chairs are still, in 2009, surprised by the presence of a ponytail (Ring, 12). It is not until
something as simple as a girl on a baseball field is old news , that we will be able to say, we are

cultural, not legal . It has been a females legal right since 1973 to play baseball, yet we see it less
and less as the years go on. During the 19th century, women s teams at six different colleges as
well as other outside sources began playing baseball. Baseball was a chance for these women to
step out side of their comfort zone almost and gain a freedom that they otherwise did not have
before. Martha Brady states it best with her quote from article Creating Safe Spaces and
Building Social Assets for Young Women in the Developing World When she says, To a degree,
being involved in sports appears to work against the repressive effects of conformity and
femininity and allows girls access to the more action oriented realm of adolescence that is
typically enjoyed by boys (Brady, 42). During this time a couple women stood out and began to

The Bill Of Rights Is Outdated
Some might say the Bill of Rights is outdated, since it was written back in 1789. I would like to
show how it is as relevant today as when it was first penned. Some people believe the Bills of
Rights are outdated and need to be modernized. Our Bill of Rights should not be altered and
therefore should remain the same. These rights retain an important role in American society and
outlines specific freedoms for all Americans. They are essential to preserving our individual rights
while ensuring freedom for our future generations.
The Bill of Rights is the name for the first ten Amendments of the United States Constitution. This
limits the power of the U.S. Federal Government. Those limitations protect our natural God given
rights and ensure no man or government will be able to obtain excessive power and infringe them.
Some of these rights include freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom
of assembly, and our right to keep and bear arms. Our Founding Fathers wanted to name these
particular rights to prevent citizens from being oppressed and to the limit the intrusion of the
Government.
The Bill of Rights should not be altered because it protects the citizens of America and it
enumerates specific freedoms given to us in our Constitution. The Bill of Rights is somewhat like
the Ten Commandments, which highlights specific guidelines which keeps our nation in check.
Before we consider altering the Bill of Rights, we should first seek to evaluate and gain

Bacon s Rebellion Analysis
The elderly Berkeley had some secret scheme in mind, having governing Virginia since 1641, he
wanted to maintain an alliances relationship with friendly neighboring Natives tribes and uses them
as the buffers while fighting the Susquehannocks war, and in fact maintaining his fur trade
monopoly. On the other side, Bacon and his followers, the discontented Virginians blamed the

Not being able to convince the Governor for the commission he felt warranted, Bacon secretly fled

Devil In A Blue Dress Literary Analysis
Millions of years ago, humans evolved from primitive animals and transformed into complex,
intellectually gifted homo sapiens. Humans today are a lot different than the creatures we
originated from, however, homo sapiens still bear animalistic qualities of our earliest ancestors.
These animal attributes are commonly expressed in literature. One famous literary example of
animal stereotypes is the symbolic brilliance of Aesop s Fables. The ancient Grecian story teller
used animals with humanproperties to teach lessons about human character and behavior. Similarly,
author Walter Mosleyuses animals to describe the physical, mental, and emotional qualities of his

Socrates Tragedy
An Innocent Tragedy
The trial of Socrates is well known throughout the modern world. It is a historical event that ties
together philosophy, literature, and law. However, do we stop to consider whether or not Socrates
was truly guilty of the crimes he was accused with. I believe Socrates was innocent on all charges,
since he sufficiently proved that he did believe in the gods and was not corrupting the youth. One
of the accusations brought against Socrates is he disregards the gods of the state, instead teaching
purely physical explanations for heavenly and earthly phenomena, which are typically explained
by the doings of the gods. Socrates refutes this claim by stating that he has no knowledge in the
field of scientific explanations. This is pre Socratic philosophy, which Socrates states he has never
taught. He asks the jury Tell one another, then, whether any of you has ever heard me discussing
such subjects, either briefly or at length; and as a result you will realize that the other things said
about me are equally baseless. (Pojman 37) Socrates goes on to rebut the first part of the accusation
by explaining that while he does not necessarily believe in the gods of the state, he does believe in
a higher god. Socrates argues that he cannot believe in one god without believing in other gods as
well. So, although he may not directly believe in the gods of the state, he acknowledges the fact
that such gods must exist. He points out the paradox in his accusers statement

Essay On Animal Farm By George Orwell
An ideology is a set of opinions or beliefs of a group or an individual. Very often ideology refers
to a set of political beliefs or a set of ideas. Our ideology is our most closely held set of values

Vocabulary plays a crucial part in a child learning to read. A student that has limited vocabulary
often prevents them from comprehending the text that he or she reads. Students that do not read
well often times read less because they find that reading is tough and frustrating. Since these low
level readers do not read enough their vocabulary does not improve. Unfortunately, as the student

Teaching vocabulary to students is vital to the growth of student s comprehension level. I found
by teaching vocabulary to my students they tend to use the words frequently once they had a
concrete understanding of the word. I also found that if my students could not relate to the word
that was being introduced many times it was harder for them to learn the word. Therefore, it was
imperative for me to always provide a description, explanation and example to all vocabulary
words that was introduced. In the video How to Teach Vocabulary Acquisition ( ), many of the
strategies that were introduced to the viewer such as asking students to restate in their own words,
having students create a picture or symbol for the vocabulary word and allowing students to
discuss new words with their peers is something that I already do in my ... Show more content on

The Church Of England In The Canterbury Tales
During the time period that The Canterbury Tales was written, England went under massive
changes of all kind, specifically religious, political, and medically. The changes of this time inspired
many of the stories and characters as most of them formed their lives around these changes. During
this era of England, the Church of England gained immense amounts of influence, enough to have
control over the King himself. The characters named the Pardoner and the Summoner were both
from the church, or so they pretend. Their stature with the church gave them respect among the
other members of the group heading to Canterbury. The character, the Doctor, took advantage of
the sick by telling them that they need a special medicine that only his friend sells. The plan was
that the Doctor would send people to his friend for a special deal and the Doctor would get a cut
of the profit from his friend. As the church rose to power, they officially had their own military
power in forms of knights and squires. Their influence stretched far and wide, only becoming even
larger by the holy wars being fought throughout Europe. The church turned their knights into
crusaders and ordered them to go to places such as Alexandria, Benamarin, Flanders, and other
places around Europe. It was revealed that the Knight and the Squirewere indirectly mentioned as
being part of the crusades. It was revealed by how they were mentioned to have been in those cities
at the same time of the crusades.

The Concept Of Transfer
by calculating the cost, instead, it determines the optimality using the NC [12]. The NC allows a
mission planner to analyze whether a transfer is optimum or non optimum by evaluating the primer
vector pro le along the transfer trajectory and see if it satisfy the NC. Transfer trajectory refers to
the trajectory of the spacecraft from orbitaround the departure planetto the orbit of around the
destination.
In case of non optimum trajectory, one can alter the trajectory by modifying the orbital velocity
vector as such to satisfy the NC of optimality [13]. The modi cation of the velocity vector is
achieved through implementation of DSM. A linear method to optimize a transfer based on the
gradient of the cost functional was rst proposed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Solving primer vector equation using state transition matrix is the most common approach in the
trajectory optimization. Since this approach relies on the numerical integration of the STM and the
primer vector, the computation time becomes a disadvantage. With the rapid advancement in
computer technology, the issue of computation time is not as significant as in the past. However,
the numerical approach using STM did not give an insight to the optimization problem. In the
paper by Iorfida, it is presented how the analytical solution to the out of plane case can be explored
to nd the influence of the transfer orbit parameters to the optimality.
There are numerous works which have been conducted to derive the analytical solution to the
primer vector equation. Russel, in his paper, [25] presented an analytical solution to the primer
vector equation for the low thrust transfer case. His method is based on the analytical derivation of
the state transition matrix. Other work by Huang [26] also studied a low thrust transfer and
proposed an analytical solution for circular case transfer.
For an impulsive transfer case, there are several works, which focused on finding an ana lytical
solution to the primer vector equation. In 1669, Prussing published his work on the analytical
solution of the out of plane component circular rendezvous problem [27]. In 1991, Carter published
his studies of the xed time linearised impulsive rendezvous

this piece of pottery. The coloring of the pottery is mostly oranges, browns, and dark greens. There
are also a few bright colors like blue and pink, but those are subdued by the other colors. The interior
design use of chrysanthemums is pivotal in the fall aesthetic. Chrysanthemums are a flower

Hanukkah And Family Traditions
For my family and I, Hanukkah is the holiday that represents family and religious traditions. We
open gifts just like everyone else during this time of year, and celebrate with each others
company. However, Hanukkah has a long and powerful story behind it. The Hanukkah story
describes how the Maccabees rededicated the second Temple in Jerusalem and how the Menorah
that was lit with such little oil, lasted for eight whole days. It holds great importance to the Jewish
religion and was not always celebrated in the way that it is today. For example, gifts were not
originally given, and familygatherings only took place to pray in Synagogue.

With the rise of at home brewing, local brewing, and the emergence of a wider range beer style,
give rise to more local and regional beers companies. Older and more established companies like
Molson Coors, and Anheuser Busch were able to control the market for arguably the last forty
years, both on the domestic and foreign markets. Currently Molson Coors has twelve different
brands that they sell both foreign and domestically, however with this the time to diversify on a
larger scale is needed. According the NYSE, the price of stock of Molson Coors has risen by
almost ten dollars per stock over the last year. This has been in conjunction with brands such as
Blue Moon expanding their range of flavors of beer that they provide. Now this has been some
they have done over the years, however their time line does somewhat match up with a release or

Design And Fpga Implementation Of Ofdm Synchronization
Chapter 5 Design and FPGA Implementation of
OFDM Synchronization The channel estimation technique proposed in Chapter 4 is based on the
assumption that the coherent reception is perfect. That is, the system synchronization is perfectly
implemented. Synchronization is one of the most challenging and important tasks to any receiver
using coherent modulation, especially for OFDM systems which are highly sensitive to
synchronization errors. This chapter proposes a synchronizer based upon the delay and correlation
algorithm and the synchronization system is modeled within XSG.
Simulation results have been provided for presenting the system synchronization performance
clearly. The implementation results on FPGA are given at the end. 5.1 Synchronization for OFDM
5.1.1 Introduction to OFDM Synchronization
Generally speaking, synchronization is divided into timing and frequency synchronization. In
practice, the oscillator does not produce a carrier at exactly one frequency, and the carrier
frequency is modulated by random phase jitter [2]. The phase noise introduced results in a
mismatch of frequencies between the local oscillators at the transmitter and the receiver. In
addition, Doppler effects in fading channel also causes frequency offsets at the receiving carrier. As
a result, the numbers of subcarriers cycles within the FFT period are not integers anymore, and the
orthogonality property between subcarriers is not kept, causing ICI for an OFDM system. In
contrast, in a

It was without a doubt that every American is familiar with the fanatic insanity that follows the

amazed how much football influences American society; specifically the nation s adolescence. As
a matter of fact, it has been estimated by the National Federation of State High School
Association that there are approximately 1.1 million high school players in the country (Petraglia
et al 4). However, despite football s popularity among youth, it is irresponsible for a parent to
allow their son to play football without knowing the significant abuse a child will endure on the

effects of multiple concussions started to catch up a year later his friends began to

his head was hurting bad (as qtd. in Solotaroff 2) also I met him in the hall and saw the same

words this was essentially Eric s body crying for medical attention that he never got because he
continued to play and fight through it (Solotaroff 2). Unfortunately, it was too late and Eric
seized up during a typical family dinner which resulted in his brain to swell up so much that it
crushed his brainstem and shorted out his heart and lungs (as qtd. in Solotaroff 2). No parent

Personal Growth Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
Personal Growth in Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar Sylvia Plath uses this quote in The Bell Jar to
show the main character Esther Greenwood struggles. The quote states as followed, There is
something demoralizing about watching two people get more and more crazy about each other,
especially when you are the only extra person in the room. It s like watching Paris from an
express caboose heading in the opposite direction every second the city gets smaller and smaller,
only you feel it s really you getting smaller and smaller and lonelier and lonelier, rushing away
from all those lights and excitement at about a million miles an hour (Plath 110). Plath uses this
quote to encapsulate the true feelings of the main character and her struggles with social
conformity. It is obvious that Esther Greenwood is directly inspired by Plath herself. The many
similarities include their pseudonyms, the absence of a father, their young age, and their high level
of intelligence. The only major difference is Esther s suicideattempt was fortunately unsuccessful
while Sylvia Plath s was unfortunately successful. Plath committed suicide at the age of thirty due
to her major struggles of conforming to society. Sylvia Plath In The Bell Jar, the author, Sylvia
Plath, uses metaphors, symbolism, and tone to draw attention to the main characters journey
through mental illness and her struggle to relate to the feminist expectations of society.

Little Miamiy Trail Research Paper
The Little Miami Scenic Trail
The final planned section of the Little Miami Scenic Trail opens May 1 for walking, jogging or
running, biking, and in line skating. The Little Miami rail trail is a paved trail that follows the
abandoned railroad route of the Little Miami Railroad from Milford (east of Cincinnati) to
Springfield. For most of the trail s length, a grassy strip runs beside it for horseback riding and
runners and walkers who want to feel ground below their feet!. The trail is crossed by a number of
roads, but only a few blocks of the trail in Xena share the road with cars. Ample parking is
provided at each end of the trail, with numerous access locations along its route. Restrooms,
restaurants, and picnic facilities are also available at intervals along the trail.
The Little Miami Scenic Trail is one of the best biking routes in the area, with mostly flat to
rolling terrain enlivened by views of the Little Miami River, farmland, and quaint small towns.
Because the trail was constructed in a long abandoned rail bed, much of the trail is deeply shaded

A Brief History of Courtship and Dating in America
A Brief History of Courtship and Dating in America, Part 1 [pic]by The Rev d Skip Burzumato [pic]
Whenever possible, I love to use the word courtship in everyday conversation with young and old
alike.
It s one of those words with which most people are familiar, but have vastly differing opinions of
what it means. For many, courtship is an old fashioned word. It summons visions of men wooing
women with small tokens of affection and asking their hand in marriage on bended knee. For social
scientists, studies of courtship usually look at the process of mate selection. (Social scientists,
among whom I number myself from time to time, will never be accused of being romantics.)
For the purpose of this article the preparation for and proposal ... Show more content on

They knew what was normal. Prior to the 20th century, normal was determined within families and
local communities, but now a higher authority, with wide spread circulation and readership, began
to form a national consciousness.
Thirdly, we see a change in sexual norms in the West. With the onset of the sexual revolution the
question arose, Why would a man court and woo a woman when he could gain a chief benefit of
marriage, namely sexual gratification, for free with no commitment? (Friendship with benefits is a
contemporary example.)
Closely related to this is the invention of birth control. There is too much that could be said here,
so I ll be brief. Simply put, with the onset of the widespread use of chemical and other means of
birth control, the language of procreation of having children was separated from the language of
marriage. As U. of Chicago ethicist Leon Kass argues in his chapter on courtship in Building a
Healthy Culture: Strategies for an American Renaissance, under the old system of courtship,
marriage and bringing a child into the world were inextricably linked. But no longer. With the ever
decreasing risk of pregnancy, having sex and being married were no longer tied together.
Fourthly, we find a change in the models and metaphors used to describe the home and family. Prior

Benefits Of Debit And Credit Card Payment

DSTPolicyholders who may otherwise miss out on an incentive such as continuation of cover
through the lapse process could pay back payments via card. This is an area of huge potential
which is currently handled by a manual application and results in a poor return. Policyholders
could make advance payments for a new health cash plan (or any product), enabling them to
secure cover for a set period of time which could be incentivised by immediate benefit.
Policyholders who leave their company could be given the option to pay their corporate rate in
advance for a set period of time (i.e. 12 months). Using the payment by link service, lapse emails
could be sent rather than a lapse letter which would result in a substantial postal and stationary
saving.

  • 2. A Brief Look at Modernism Modernism was a prevalent movement and developed an era in the twentieth century that shaped the coming decades and Western ideas. Stemming from World War I, its culture, art and philosophy reveals the mindset of modernity and how the historical events of that time influenced life and society. T.S. Eliot was a part of the literary and artistic movement called Modernism, which can be seen best in his poem The Waste Land. The concept of the wasteland was a powerful one to his generation. His poem depicts an image of the modern world through the perspective of the common man finding himself hopeless and confused about the condition of society. The poem paints a picture of a disjointed and desolate world through apparent confusion and chaos that that is achieved through fragments and allusions. The Waste Land demonstrates the present day wasteland as a metaphor of modern Europe to depict the loss of culture and history that was suffered due to the war. Arguably, the most important aspect of the poem is its fragmented nature used to depict a post World War I wasteland. Rather than using facts to show the state of Europe, Eliot uses several poetic elements to convey this, particularly the allusive and obscure to paint an image of physical desolation of the war torn society and also communicate a sense of loss and despair. The image of London, in the first section The Burial Dead, gives a sense of the trauma and cultural desolation caused by the war. The narrator, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Tribal Criminal Jurisdiction Before the Europeans arrived in the Americas, the Indigenous Tribes had their own languages, customs, and legal systems. These legal systems were completly new to the Europeans, because they did not focus on the Anglo norms of ctime and punsihment, instead, they focused on the restoration of peace and tranquility within the tribe. When any members had a disagreement, they would present the problem to the tribal elders who would sit with the two parties and their families and simply talk; they would talk until a unified decision could be made. This unanimous decision would be the final one, no one could undermine the decision of the elders. This custom was called the Peacemaking Circle and wasso alien to the invading Europeans, they saw the Indigenous People as savages, desperatly in need of salvation. As time went on and European and eventually American influence spread across the country, Tribes began to feel their sovereignty threatned as they could no longer deal with wrongdoers on their land the same way they did in the past. The Federal Government began intrude onto Indian Land. In 1817 the U.S passed the General Crimes Act1, whcih gave the Federal Government jurisdictionin Indian Country when a crime was commited if either the victim or derfendent was a non Native. Then, in 1885, the U.S passed the Major Crimes Act2 which gave the Federal Government jurisdiction in Indian Country over major crimes, such as murder, when the defendent was a Native. • 4. Circuit Of Logisim That Controls An Entry Gate CS25410 Assignment Report The task was to implement a circuit in logisim that controls an entry gate. The gate has 3 possible inputs; a ВЈ1 coin paid in, a ВЈ2 coin paid in or the cancel button pressed. The gate must store the amount of money paid in and has four possible behaviours for outputs. Once the gate has received ВЈ4 it must open, in terms of implementation a LED must light up and stay lit until another input is received, any extra money in the machine must count towards the next entry fee. The other behaviours are based off when the cancel button is pressed, a LED relating to the amount of money paid into the machine towards an entry fee e.g. a ВЈ1 LED if ВЈ1 is in memory etc. up to the maximum of ВЈ3, In the circuit these LED s must stay on until the next input. The general structure of my implementation can be split up into three segments; Input, storage, and output. In the input section there are 2 bits of memory to temporarily store the 3 different inputs, 01 representing ВЈ1, 10 representing ВЈ2 and 11 representing cancel pressed. This memory is cleared once it has been clocked into the main storage of the system. The storage is implemented with 3 bits of memory as there are 6 possible states for the memory, ВЈ0 to ВЈ5, the 1 and 2 bit are only affected once an input has been clocked in however the 4 bit is only affected by the carry bit of the 2 bit memory and is cleared as soon as an input button has been pressed as this was part of the assignment specification. ... • 5. Internal And External Factors That Affect The Company s... All in all, the company s financial position is very bad in 2015, which was quite well in 2014 and in 2013. 2014 was assumed as the best year with respect to net profit and cash flow from operating activities. On the other hand, year 2015 was well in financing activities only. Similarly, 2013 was the year when the company achieved best assets and equity amount in comparison of past three years and it also played well cash flow from investing as the rest of the year were with the higher negative amount. The main objective of the paper is to evaluate the influence of external factors on the company s future prospects. Therefore, this part of the assignment will evaluate the Tesco s future prospects in terms of prediction of future success or failure will be done in this part of assignment. This part of assignment will also explain the internal and external factors that affect the financial position, financial performance, and share price of Tesco. Discussion Taking into consideration of analysis from Part 1 of the assignment, it can be said that Tesco s financial position in 2015 is not good at all since it is paying off its liabilities from the little profit that is gained. On the other hand, from the statistical portal of 2015, it is found that Tesco is still on highest position among the UK s top grocery supermarket. This aspect shows that Tesco is still popular among its loyal customers and has the highest market share in the industry. It is noted that market ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Creating And Executing A New Music Identification System Introduction/Background Over the past few decades, the way in which we gather and listen to music has changed substantially. From vinyl albums to virtual music tracks, the world of music has evolved and will continue to grow even further in the not so distant future. By continually adapting to the ever changing environment, Spotify has emerged to become one of the leading platforms in today s world of online music streaming (Chandler, 2011). However, Spotify is far from perfect. Scope The analysis will explore and evaluate the need for the information system, Spotify, to implement and improve new as well as existing functionalities to increase the business value for the current system. These functionalities include: Creating and executing a new music identification system Enhancing the internal search Improving the external sharing function This analysis, however, supported by various assumptions. It is assumed that Spotify will hire, or have in employment, the correct staff to appropriately implement these changes to the system. This system proposal also makes the assumption that the system will constantly be maintained and updated to meet constantly changing user requirements. In doing so, the system will consequently be properly installed and adopted to continually create business value. Systems Request Existing System Spotify satisfies users needs by allowing them to play music whenever and wherever. However, what differentiates Spotify from the rest is how ... • 8. The Other Problem With Women In Aphra Behn s Oroonoko The novel Oroonoko is an eighteenth century novel that focuses on the problems that occur with slave trade and how women are involved in it. The article The Other Problem with Women: Reproduction and Slave Culture in Aphra Behn s Oroonoko. , goes into great detail stating that women were viewed as property in this slave trade, focusing specifically on one of the characters in the book Imoinda. Stated in the article, Imoinda was a possession even before she was a slave (Sussman 215). She was viewed as a piece of property as a womanbecause she was expected to do anything the king or Oroonokoasked of her before she was a slave. Slave trade had a big impact on women and population as birth rates decreased immensely. Death rates also started to increase because of the crucial environment and the constant work that was expected out of the many men and women (214). There is controversy over whether the environment slaves were kept in were the reason for the many deaths and abortions, or if it was because women did not want to have their children raised as slaves (214). In the novel, Oroonoko made the decision to physically destruct the bodies of his wife and future child because of the conditions he did not want them living under. After killing his wife, he mirrored the injuries he had given to her. Oroonoko cut out his stomach to represent the abortion of his child, he writes on his own body to signify the power over a woman instead of slavery(220). The conclusion that is drawn from this article is that women were viewed as a total piece of property, but Imoinda was also an erotic figure as she was in control of her own territories (221). Imoinda tried getting over the stereotype of being a property and had gained respect from other people as they realized she is a human and not owned by anyone. Imoinda was viewed as a property, yet she gained much respect from the slaves and they viewed her as a leader. She seemed to have overcome the stereotype of being a property, yet she still allowed Oroonoko to take her and her child s life. She accepted her death and smiled with joy as it was occurring (224). The murder that Oroonoko decided to act upon can be viewed as a heroic move, but also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Farmer s Dilemma Book Report B.The detective is in this story was a smart ,teenage, girl, Deila. One of five words that I would describe her would be... Curious She is always looking for adventure and mystery. She is the oldest and always trying new things so her little sister can learn from her mistakes. One example in the text my exploration had two main objects: one, to see more of the building, because ( creepily or not ) it was by the far most impressive thing I ever being able to claim as my own, and that provoked and me burning curiosity to see every nook and cranny. Stubborn Deila is stubborn because she can be hard to deal with, since she is a typical teenage girl who cannot go anywhere without cell service. Deila fights with her parents a lot and actually... It came in rolls, constantly and defeating, rumbling all the way into the center of my chest. I stepped away from the window. I started to have the odd feeling that this was, on level, weirdly personal. No Deila it s just a storm. An act of nature. But the room around me grew darker. And it wasn t the kind of darkness that comes with the nightfall. Something caught my eye at the seam where the ceiling and wall met above the window. A dark oily looking fog crawled along the plaster, winding its way down the vines of the wallpaper as if it were the part of the design. Slowly, I turned around. A pulsing layer of black smoke filled the room. I lost myself watching it slide down towards me. , as the smoke descend the walls, its movement hypnotizing. It seemed to breathe, somehow pausing with each inhale, going faster with each exhale...... I lost myself in watching it slide down towards me. While real estate commission rates are hardly set in stone , they average is 6 percent of the sales price in a typical sale. However, many sellers in a down market will try to maximize their net profit and negotiate commission down with an agent. In fact, I know many agents willing to reduce commissions down to 4 percent, giving a buyer s agent the standard 3 percent and taking only 1 percent for themselves. I had spent about a year researching various places to move and I identified Gainesville as a great place, a conclusion also reached by Money Magazine in 1995. One of the reasons I thought Gainesville would be a good move was the low cost of housing. My first purchase was a mobile home, on a one acre lot, in a nearby city. That worked out very well. The seller s agent made a mistake at closing that saved me $2,500 on what was supposed to be a $28,000 transaction. The mortgage was five years and paid off on time. I still own the lot though the mobile home is no longer there. A couple of years later I bought my first house in Gainesville. I grew up in New York City. Half a million dollars would not buy the attached house with the postage stamp sized backyard I grew up in. I also lived in Boston in the 1980s, where $250,000 would buy a large, though very chic walk in closet. My first house in Gainesville was on the city line and cost me $40,000 in a private, owner financed sale. It came without an A/C system but a small window unit made up for that. It sat on a 1/4 acre lot, virtually unheard of now in Boston or New York. I paid 10% down and got a 30 year mortgage at a very acceptable rate of 6.5%. Over the next couple of years I bought, and still own, three more houses in the same way. Two are on the same block as my original house and one is on the next block. In 1998 few people thought any of the houses would ever sell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Interior dorm designing is a multifaceted skilled profession that includes development, creativity, thinking, and communicating with the owners of the project and the management and execution of the design. What I do is a process of shaping the experience of an interior space that reflects the owner s personality. It all started when everyone complimented me on my dorm room and asked me to do there s. Then and there is when KC Design was born. B.We are unique in a lot of ways, there is no other like us. Other interior dorm design businesses are all online or in an app. So our market structure is considered to be a monolithic competition. Which is a type of market structure in which many other businesses sell products that are similar to us but not identical. There are no dorm design businesses that will knock on your dorm nor move furniture themselves. My business is an intangible service. In the near future I would like KC Design to be worldwide in every college campus. Which means I would have to have lots of universal employees nationwide. Nathaniel Hawthorne was a Puritan himself, so it is obvious that the bible would hold a great affect on his writing. Throughout the story Dimmesdale is both close to god and the devil, being a minister and a sinner. Nathaniel Hawthornewrites many hints of an internal struggle, some people think of it as being human, but it is to show the power of good and evil, god and the devil, guilt in a person s heart. During chapter 16 of The Scarlet LetterHester says to Pearl Once in my life I met the Black Man! This scarlet letter is his mark! after which, when Dimmesdale was coming down the path of the forest Pearl asks Is it the Black Man? . This is a part of Hawthorne s interpretation on original sin. The Age of Absolutism in France Absolutism in France (Order #A2068670) European monarchs did not simply emerge on the scene as absolute rulers but slowly acquired supreme power over a long period of time. This interest in becoming absolute rulers infected the European monarchs, becoming particularly acute during the religious wars of the 16th century. As a result of the chaos and destruction, the kings of Europebegan to consolidate power into a centralized system with the monarch at the top. By the beginning of the 17th century a number of European countries had monarchs who exercised absolute power over their kingdoms. One of the largest and most populated countries in Western Europe during this time was France, which slowly centralized governmental power in the hands of a single monarch. France has often been considered to be one of the best examples of how a monarchy assumed centralized and absolute power; ushering in the Age of Absolutism. Louis XIV of France is often referred to as the Sun King and is a prime example of a European monarch who exercised absolute power. However, absolutism in France did not begin with Louis XIV, but with his grandfather and founder of the Bourbon Dynasty, Henry IV. It was Henry IV who began the centralization of power by keeping France at peace during most of his reign by tolerating Protestants. During this time he also strengthened the monarchy s finances by charging royal officials a fee to inherit their positions. He also lowered taxes in an effort to rebuild ... They knew they had to master the art of controlling flight before they could invent this mechanical flyer. Much of their early ideas with gliders would be derived from bicycles as they felt bicycles and flyers were not as different as they seemed. The bicycle required stability and they compared it to the need for lateral balance in a flyer. Orville thought this problem could be solved with the wings. He figured if they pilot could control parts of the wing tips it could create force to give balance to the machine. They would need a place with suitable high wind speeds to keep their experimentation going. In their hometown of southern Ohio consistent high wind speeds were uncommon to say the least. Wilbur figured finding such a place on their own could be problematic. Wilbur would end up writing to an expert on aviation at the time, Octave Chanute. Octave provided possible places to conduct his experiment and other questions Wilbur had regarding their experiment. In 1900 Wilbur had decided Kitty Hawk, North Carolina would be a perfect location with its constant high wind speeds. When they arrived at their new testing sight they began assembling their glider from back home. Initially they tested their glider without a pilot to make sure it was working correctly and was safe for use. Eventually they would fly the glider as the pilot and it could sustain flight for as long as two minutes. This seemed like a major accomplishment but was just the start of their goal. They were far from the first to achieve flight, but their wing and elevation ideas were proved successful. Also, this gave them much needed practice in piloting a flying machine most importantly. Juvenile Vs Juvenile Justice System The criminal justice system conducts trials, determines guilt, and decides what kind of punishments to give to adults who have committed some sort of crime. Adults, however, are not the only ones who commit crimes. Kids under 18 can commit crimes too. In 1899, the juvenile justice system began to form. People thought that kids should be treated differently after committing crimes. Being younger, they were believed to be more able to rehabilitate than adults, the criminal justice system was believed to be too harsh for them, and some believed that juvenile s behavior was based strongly on their parents and the society they lived in. In a peer reviewed article titled Are we criminalizing adolescence? there is a statement that in a constitutional sense, youth are different than adults. In this essay, I will talk about what the juvenile justice system is, what it does, how it is different than the criminal justice system, and how some people believe it should change. This is going to be done by having predictive maintenance on the elongation of the chain in the escalators, rather than reactive maintenance. Currently, BART is reacting to the effects of chain elongation on escalators which causes maintenance to be rather expensive but most importantly inconvenient for customers. BART is currently doing this because some of the escalators are older so they do not have any automation associated with them. At this moment, when an escalator breaks down due to chain elongation there is major downtime to repair it because it is in need of emergency maintenance. With emergency reactive maintenance an ... • 38. Devil In A Blue Dress Literary Analysis Millions of years ago, humans evolved from primitive animals and transformed into complex, intellectually gifted homo sapiens. Humans today are a lot different than the creatures we originated from, however, homo sapiens still bear animalistic qualities of our earliest ancestors. These animal attributes are commonly expressed in literature. One famous literary example of animal stereotypes is the symbolic brilliance of Aesop s Fables. The ancient Grecian story teller used animals with humanproperties to teach lessons about human character and behavior. Similarly, author Walter Mosleyuses animals to describe the physical, mental, and emotional qualities of his characters. • 39. Socrates Tragedy An Innocent Tragedy The trial of Socrates is well known throughout the modern world. It is a historical event that ties together philosophy, literature, and law. However, do we stop to consider whether or not Socrates was truly guilty of the crimes he was accused with. I believe Socrates was innocent on all charges, since he sufficiently proved that he did believe in the gods and was not corrupting the youth. One of the accusations brought against Socrates is he disregards the gods of the state, instead teaching purely physical explanations for heavenly and earthly phenomena, which are typically explained by the doings of the gods. Socrates refutes this claim by stating that he has no knowledge in the field of scientific explanations. This is pre Socratic philosophy, which Socrates states he has never taught. He asks the jury Tell one another, then, whether any of you has ever heard me discussing such subjects, either briefly or at length; and as a result you will realize that the other things said about me are equally baseless. (Pojman 37) Socrates goes on to rebut the first part of the accusation by explaining that while he does not necessarily believe in the gods of the state, he does believe in a higher god. Socrates argues that he cannot believe in one god without believing in other gods as well. So, although he may not directly believe in the gods of the state, he acknowledges the fact that such gods must exist. He points out the paradox in his accusers statement ... Our ideology is our most closely held set of values and feelings, and it acts as the filter through which we see everything and everybody. Introduction: Description: Old Major is discussing his hate and the injustice upon the animals at Manor Farm and his beliefs and ideology. This was the creation of Animalism or what we call Communism. Enmity: The state or the feeling of being hostile or opposed to someone or something. Vices: Unjust or immoral behavior. Tyrannise: Rule or treat someone cruelly or immorally Thesis: The passage is a set of beliefs and rules made by OId Major, this greatly exemplifies a communist society because he believes that all animals are equal or in a society, all humans are equal. In a communist society, everyone is equal, they are paid the same wage, treated the same and so on. The Church Of England In The Canterbury Tales During the time period that The Canterbury Tales was written, England went under massive changes of all kind, specifically religious, political, and medically. The changes of this time inspired many of the stories and characters as most of them formed their lives around these changes. During this era of England, the Church of England gained immense amounts of influence, enough to have control over the King himself. The characters named the Pardoner and the Summoner were both from the church, or so they pretend. Their stature with the church gave them respect among the other members of the group heading to Canterbury. The character, the Doctor, took advantage of the sick by telling them that they need a special medicine that only his friend sells. The plan was that the Doctor would send people to his friend for a special deal and the Doctor would get a cut of the profit from his friend. As the church rose to power, they officially had their own military power in forms of knights and squires. Their influence stretched far and wide, only becoming even larger by the holy wars being fought throughout Europe. The church turned their knights into crusaders and ordered them to go to places such as Alexandria, Benamarin, Flanders, and other places around Europe. It was revealed that the Knight and the Squirewere indirectly mentioned as being part of the crusades. The NC allows a mission planner to analyze whether a transfer is optimum or non optimum by evaluating the primer vector pro le along the transfer trajectory and see if it satisfy the NC. Transfer trajectory refers to the trajectory of the spacecraft from orbitaround the departure planetto the orbit of around the destination. In case of non optimum trajectory, one can alter the trajectory by modifying the orbital velocity vector as such to satisfy the NC of optimality [13]. The modi cation of the velocity vector is achieved through implementation of DSM. A linear method to optimize a transfer based on the gradient of the cost functional was rst proposed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Solving primer vector equation using state transition matrix is the most common approach in the trajectory optimization. Since this approach relies on the numerical integration of the STM and the primer vector, the computation time becomes a disadvantage. With the rapid advancement in computer technology, the issue of computation time is not as significant as in the past. However, the numerical approach using STM did not give an insight to the optimization problem. In the paper by Iorfida, it is presented how the analytical solution to the out of plane case can be explored to nd the influence of the transfer orbit parameters to the optimality. There are numerous works which have been conducted to derive the analytical solution to the primer vector equation. Design And Fpga Implementation Of Ofdm Synchronization Chapter 5 Design and FPGA Implementation of OFDM Synchronization The channel estimation technique proposed in Chapter 4 is based on the assumption that the coherent reception is perfect. That is, the system synchronization is perfectly implemented. Synchronization is one of the most challenging and important tasks to any receiver using coherent modulation, especially for OFDM systems which are highly sensitive to synchronization errors. This chapter proposes a synchronizer based upon the delay and correlation algorithm and the synchronization system is modeled within XSG. Simulation results have been provided for presenting the system synchronization performance clearly. The implementation results on FPGA are given at the end. 5.1 Synchronization for OFDM 5.1.1 Introduction to OFDM Synchronization Generally speaking, synchronization is divided into timing and frequency synchronization. In practice, the oscillator does not produce a carrier at exactly one frequency, and the carrier frequency is modulated by random phase jitter [2]. The phase noise introduced results in a mismatch of frequencies between the local oscillators at the transmitter and the receiver. In addition, Doppler effects in fading channel also causes frequency offsets at the receiving carrier. As a result, the numbers of subcarriers cycles within the FFT period are not integers anymore, and the orthogonality property between subcarriers is not kept, causing ICI for an OFDM system. In contrast, in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Brief History of Courtship and Dating in America A Brief History of Courtship and Dating in America, Part 1 [pic]by The Rev d Skip Burzumato [pic] Whenever possible, I love to use the word courtship in everyday conversation with young and old alike. It s one of those words with which most people are familiar, but have vastly differing opinions of what it means. For many, courtship is an old fashioned word. It summons visions of men wooing women with small tokens of affection and asking their hand in marriage on bended knee. For social scientists, studies of courtship usually look at the process of mate selection. (Social scientists, among whom I number myself from time to time, will never be accused of being romantics.) Fourthly, we find a change in the models and metaphors used to describe the home and family. Prior ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These issues can be resolved much swifter by card DSTPolicyholders who may otherwise miss out on an incentive such as continuation of cover through the lapse process could pay back payments via card. This is an area of huge potential which is currently handled by a manual application and results in a poor return. Policyholders could make advance payments for a new health cash plan (or any product), enabling them to secure cover for a set period of time which could be incentivised by immediate benefit. Policyholders who leave their company could be given the option to pay their corporate rate in advance for a set period of time (i.e. 12 months). Using the payment by link service, lapse emails could be sent rather than a lapse letter which would result in a substantial postal and stationary saving. 2.WorldPay WorldPay are the UK s leading payments provider and can provide a variety of payment services either directly to BHSF or in partnership with an automated payments provider.
