Essay about Opening the Door to New Life
Stem cell research is an important way to enhance the quality of life. Many people believe that
stem cell research offers a tremendous amount of potential in medical science, such a topic
deserves scrutiny though ethical lenses. The controversy over whether it's right or wrong will
surely continue to go on for many more years and perhaps even decades. Stem cells should be
researched and should be allowed, because the possibilities it could provide are endless. To fully
grasp the controversy on the issue, one must understand a stem cell. In simple terms, a stem cell is a
blank slate. Not only that, but the stem call can become just about any cell of desire. For example,
if neural cells in the brain become damaged and are replaced with...show more content...
The last types of stem cells are pluripotent stem cells. They are similar to both embryonic and adult
stem cells, but in a way a mix of both. They are originally adult stem cells, but then are
reprogrammed to be "embryonic–like" ("Stem"). This is still a newer development and still a lot is
unknown on it, but if researched further could offer mega dividends.
The main controversy is against embryonic stem cell research and its use, because many believe
that it's inhumane, the destruction of life, and will lead to worse things. They believe that by
extracting stem cells from a fetus its killing life itself. But actually stem cells are used to save lives
and have shown promising results. Stem cells could be used for the better good of human beings
everywhere.
Another thing people tend to forget is that there is more than one way to obtain stem cells; they are
quick to write off stem cells automatically. But if a person is pro–life and against embryonic stem
cell research because they believe it kills life, they should still have an open mind and consider that
there are other alternatives. These alternatives are not exactly the easiest or best document routes
thus far, but nevertheless are still there.
We also don't know where our research could take us; it could lead us to hundreds of new
discoverers that rewrite textbooks. Other people also think that stem cell research would be the
starting point for other controversial issues such as cloning and

Essay On Opening Retreat
Overview
As the Director of Career Services at the University of the New River I am planning an opening
retreat for my staff. In our department, we strive to help students define their life and career visions.
Through connecting students in personalized ways to resources, people, organizations, and
opportunities we help them make their visions a reality. Our department is comprised of five
full–time staff members and one graduate assistant. In planning the annual retreat, I have consulted
with both assistant directors. Since our department helps students bridge the gap between their
academic skills and the real world, our team believes it is important to have a close connection with
academic affairs. Thus, our topic for this year's opening...show more content...
Many of the principles of the SLI focus on the necessity for faculty to collaborate with student affairs
professionals to make student learning a campus–wide priority. George Kuh (1996) used the
principles in the SLI to develop six principles to guide institutions to integrate the curriculum and
extra–curriculum: generate enthusiasm for institutional renewal; create a common vision of
learning; develop a common language; foster collaboration and cross–functional dialogue; examine
the influence of student cultures on student learning; and focus on systematic change. The common
element in each of the six principles is campus–wide collaboration.
The cultures and functions of academic and student affairs are different enough that there is an
accepted inclination for the two to remain separate. However, it is critical to design unique and
engaging ways to encourage personnel in the two divisions to come together in the shared purpose
of improving student learning. It is important to facilitate discussion between the two divisions. As
Baxter and Baxter (2011) explain, "we need to organize our institutions in a way that engages
mixed groups of people and forces us to venture outside traditional silos" (p. 70). Before academic
and student affairs personnel can create meaningful collaborative programs and services, they need
to engage in cross–divisional dialogue to discuss each other's roles,

Opening a Coffee Shop
OPENING A COFFEE SHOP WITH LIBRARY
Abstract
This paper focuses on presenting the steps for starting a coffee shop and ensuring its successful
functioning. The paper presents an analysis of the target segment of customers and the coffee shop's
specific features, continuing with the project's objectives. The paper sets few recommendations
aiming at presenting ideas that will ensure the coffee shop's success in the medium term and long
term. The results were positive, which means that opening a coffee shop with library will probably
be a good idea and will be a good business investment.

2.1. Survey
2.1.1. Group of people who filled the survey
Conducting a survey was one of the ways to get in touch with our possible future clients and also
buyers. We wanted to find out what do people think about our project, would it be successful or not.
Our target were people over fifteen years old, because we asumed that children under fifteen don't
drink coffee. We conducted the survey at Zagreb School of Economics and Management and in
many bars in Zagreb.
2.1.2. What kind of questions we asked
The examinees of our survey had to answer on thirthteen questions. We wanted to know examinees'
age and their gender to see which generations would visite our coffee shop the most. We want to find
out the habit of drinking coffee– how often do people in Croatia drink coffee and if they are
interested in trying new types of coffee.
There are so many cafГ©s in Zagreb, so we asked people if they are satisfied with the offer of
various kinds of coffee in them. We also asked them if they like reading books and magazines and
surfing on the Internet while drinking coffee. We were interested in what people think about
representation of

Opening Statement Analysis
Paragraph 1 – Content of class instruction. Information covered during the class. During week eight
we began class by letting our classmate read her opening statement. Everything said she said in her
opening statement covered the guidelines of what is required. One thing that my classmate
mentioned that other students in class did not explain in their opening statement was the conflict of
interest. Before a mediator can mediate they need to make sure there is not a conflict of interest.
The best way to address this issue is to state whether you have worked with any group or special
interest that could conflict with the current mediation. After we covered the opening statement of
our classmate we then did a role play for the auto anguish activity. This activity would cover a
majority of class,...show more content...
Lastly, the opening statement needs to be readdressed to both parties to further emphasize what
will be happening in the mediation. Overall the role play was very good and the audience was led
to believe the dispute was real. One of the last comments made by our professor was we need to
start using tools to help the parties think how they would want to resolve the conflict. Because
the conflict did not lead to a solution we then moved on to an exercise called brainstorming. This
activity would further allow us try to reach an agreement on the many uses of different items.
Some of the rules of this agreement were no opposing opinions when it came to discussing
options. This activity was meant went to facilitate conversation and reach an agreement between
the groups. Our group was asked to list the purposes of paperclip. Some of the uses for the
paperclip include a shirt tie, a phone holder and nail cleaner. This exercise allowed the people of
each group to come up with ideas which showed how to let parties find a solution on their own. One
of the last topics we discussed were allowing the
