Essay On Secularism
Crafting an essay on the topic of secularism can be both challenging and rewarding. The
complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of the subject, as it involves delving into
historical, political, social, and philosophical dimensions. Secularism, as a concept, encompasses
the separation of religion from government affairs, ensuring a neutral ground where diverse
beliefs can coexist harmoniously.
To write a comprehensive essay on secularism, one must navigate through the historical evolution
of secular ideologies, examining how they have shaped societies over time. It requires an in-
depth understanding of the cultural and political contexts in which secularism has emerged and
evolved.
Additionally, addressing the various perspectives on secularism poses a challenge. The essay
must encompass viewpoints from proponents who champion the separation of church and state,
as well as critiques from those who argue against it. Balancing these perspectives while
providing a nuanced analysis demands careful consideration and a well-rounded understanding
of the subject matter.
Furthermore, exploring the implications of secularism on individual freedoms, religious practices,
and the overall dynamics of a society requires a thoughtful approach. One needs to navigate
through the complexities of balancing the right to freedom of religion with the necessity of
maintaining a secular state.
In conclusion, writing an essay on secularism requires not only a solid grasp of historical and
philosophical concepts but also the ability to critically analyze and present diverse perspectives. It
is a task that demands thorough research, careful consideration of opposing viewpoints, and the
skill to weave these elements into a coherent and compelling narrative.

Theme Of Mass Hysteria In The Crucible
ВЁThe CrucibleВЁ was a mass hysteria. Throughout the play mass hysteria
regarding witchcraft spreads throughout the town of Salem and resulting in
numerous deaths of innocent people. The girls were lying about everything the
whole time . In ВЁThe CrucibleВЁ neighbors suddenly turn on each other , they
start to accuse the people they have known for years of witchcraft and devil
worship .ВЁThe CrucibleВЁ shows how mass hysteria can ruin a community . In
act III the girls that were led by Abigail ,accuse Mary Warren of witchcraft to
prevent her from testifying against them .Many people including Mary have said
that the witch accusations are fake .ВЁThe CrucibleВЁ is a historical play based
on witchcraft in Salem. It takes place in a small town in 1692.The play begins in
the Parris household .Reverend Samuel Parris lives there with his daughter Mary,
His niece Abigail and his slave Tituba.Mary is suddenly sick ,So Parris calls for the
help of reverend hale .He believes that the cause of her illness is a supernatural
explanation. Bettys sickness started when Paris caught her, Abigail and a couple
of other girls from the village dancing in the woods.Abigail admits that she was
dancing but she said it had nothing to do with witchcraft.Paris does not believe
Abigail, because when he seen the girls dancing, he heard them speaking things in
a satanic tongue,Paris also thinks he seen a naked girl running through the woods
while they were dancing. The putnams come and tell Reverend Paris that their
daughter Ruth is ill as well.Ann Putnam admits that she sent ruth with Tituba the
slave so ruth can speak to her dead siblings .When Abigail is alone with the girls
she threatens them not to speak a word of what had happened in the woods. The
Procter than enters, looking for Mary but the he is left alone with Abigail. In
ВЁThe CrucibleВЁ, hysteria starts after the young girls of the village of Salem,
Massachusetts are caught dancing in the moonlight in an order that they believe
will kill Proctor s wife, because Abigail has feelings for the proctor . After the girls
are caught by mary s dad , Reverend Parris, they blame their actions and influence of
the Devil, and that Tituba, Parris slave who teaches the girls about spirits, was
The Impact of Offshoring on the U.S. Economy
Off shoring is the establishment of business operations outside national boundaries.
The process of moving business outside these boundaries is to garner an advantage
either through tax breaks, lower wages, lower transportation cost and/or relaxed
regulations ( Offshore definition, 2014). Many firms either branch out as a horizontal
multinational or vertical multinational. Horizontal multinational s produce the same
good or services as abroad. This foreign direct investment (FDI) is done to
strategically place production closer to the target market. Doing this provides
advantages surrounding transportation cost while enhancing learning associated with
local needs. A vertical multinational is one that fragments a portion of its... Show

Multinational Corporations . The analysis will evaluate factors motivating firms to
move off shore and the associated impact on the U.S. work force. The three measures
that will be discussed are 1) value added (i.e. the measure of capital and labor gain at
a given production stage), 2) capital expenditures (i.e. land, buildings and
equipment), and 3) employment (i.e. number of jobs lost/created). The paper will
conclude with a discussion of outcomes between 1977 2003 using data supplied by
the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
Assessment
Economic integration aims to reduce cost and increase value for both producers
and consumers. This is accomplished by increased international trade for goods and
services. Economic integration has expanded markets by which firms can play .
Firms are more self serving, their motive is to reduce cost and increase profits. To
do this firms have begun to off shore their operations. Off shoring allows a firm to
lower cost and establish a presence closer to target markets. This process has become
easier with technology advances. For example, information can be shared and
transactions made with the click of a button. International borders are easy
transcended with expansive transportation networks. This facilitates product
movement and placement of resources, supporting just in time (JIT) manufacturing.
Critics of this believe overall economic well being is affected when companies off
shore, since jobs and
Choosing A Car Analysis
Choosing the right car can be difficult when one is trying to choose the right make
or model. When it comes to buying a car someone should focus on buying a new
car instead of an old one because used cars can be troublesome. Price matters
because when you are in college, it s hard to save money, and you can t work a full
time job while having to do classes and homework. The safety feature is important
not only to keep me safe and alive, but it s also keeping me from wrecking my car,
which keeps my Assurance from going up. I have little sibling, it keeps them safe
with new and updated safety features. Buying a car cost money, while, in college, I
need a car that will not be bothersome. The performance is key because the car
might be my transportation to a university. I am currently looking for a car and my

The estimate for this car is $14,180 to $17,940 manufactures retail price which is
affordable, it would be a few dollars less than a Toyota Yaris. The car gets excellent

How Does Marquez Use Imagery In One Of These Days
have always enjoyed the writings of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and selected the
story called One of These Days . In the story, we are introduced to Aurelio Escovar
a poor, uneducated dentist. Although brief, the story is full of interesting imagery.
One thing I observed as I read the story is that he seems to lack any sense of
urgency. It seems he simply begins this day as he does every other. No patients
arrive and he pauses to study some buzzards he can see from the window. Who
spends time contemplating buzzards as they sit on a nearby roof? Why are they
even there? After several hours of this, the mayor arrives and he refuses to see him.
The mayor threatens to shoot him and when Aurelio opens his drawer to reveal his
own gun it becomes clear that it is not simply a figure of speech. He still lacks any
urgency as he takes his time to respond and get set up to pull the mayor s tooth that is
ailing him, even with the threat of being shot lingering.... Show more content on

You don t get the sense that he is a happy man. Looking out his window he wonders
when it will rain so even the weather is dreary. The buzzards reinforce this
dreariness. Details given by Marquez, such as It was a poor office: an old wooden
chair, the pedal drill, a glass case with ceramic bottles and the crumbling ceiling and
a dusty spider web with spider s eggs and dead insects (Marquez, n.d.) lend
themselves to the bleak tone of the
An Analysis Of The Rivals And Malapropism
Spoonerisms and Malapropisms Spoonerism, derived from Rev. Dr. William A.
Spooner (1844 1930) famed for slips of the tongue, is the transposition of sounds
particularly the initial consonants of two or more words. Usually, in effect,
spoonerism is comical since it is done accidentally. Meyer et al. (2002) explain that
What we learn from slips of the tongue with regard to psycholinguistics is that we
obviously start speaking before we have plannedhow to finish our very first sentence
and that planning seems to start with a rough outline of the sentence structure which
eventually filed with lexical items while speaking has already started. The latter is
also shown by the fact that speech errors in general preserve, for the most part, the

The conversation delineates a telegraphic speech as the sentences have been chopped
to the most basic units but still meaning is conveyed. On the contrary, Wernicke s
aphasia (fluent) is the result of damage to the left temporal lobe of the brain. A person
with this condition speaks fluently in long sentences but empty. In addition he/she
has great difficulty in understanding speech and often unaware of his/her mistakes.
People with Wernicke s aphasia experiences phonemic paraphrasias (substitution
erros) for they produce similar sounding word instead of the target word (e.g. why
for wine ).They tend to add additional syllables to words and additional words to
phrases. They may make up new words, called neologisms (Mayeux and Kandel, n.d.,
p.8). Illustrating further (Avrutin, n.d., pp.3 4) also usedthe Cookie Theft Picture

Mindfulness Activity Report
Purpose of the Activity: SOS is a mindfulness exercise that can be used to increase
internal awareness of group members. It emphasizes staying present in the current
moment and can be used to ground a group. Over time this mindfulness exercise can
help to teach group members how their environment impacts them and how to
address their triggers . The facilitator encourages the group members to use the
mindfulness activity to observe and describe their surroundings and feelings without
judging them. Population: This activity can be used in almost any population. It has
been known to be effective in groups that focus on trauma, but can also be utilized in
less high stress situations. The facilitator can easily make this activity more kids
friendly by speaking using terms that they understand. When to Use This Activity:

notice their feet touching the floor). Have them think about where they are right

scale of distress. 1 being completely calm and 10 being completely distressed. Then
have them rate their feeling of control on a 1 10 scale. 1 being completely in

based on the purpose of the group and the time allotted for this activity. Go around

words. It also helps the group facilitator know how where the group is as a whole in
their level of distress and
Navistar Case Study

Navistar was a worldwide leader in the manufacturing medium and heavy trucks for
17 consecutive years in the North American market. Navistar s premium conventional
trucks were produced at the Chatham assembly plant, which had almost 14 years
experience in producing Navistar s premium line since 1983. Navistar had forecasted
increased industry demand for heavy and medium trucks in 1998. Especially, the
Chatham assembly plant s customers had strict requirements to the truck s quality and
delivery date. As the assembly supervisor in Chatham, Andy Ramsz encountered the
interior trim quality and delivery problem for the truck. Andy had begun to gather
data on the interior trim supply problem and he got the crucial reasons ... Show more

Environment and Root Cause Analysis Navistar considered quality and on time
delivery as a priority that came before costs; therefore, top management as well as
initiatives to improve processes and on time delivery supported various improvement
initiatives to quality programs. Andy is an assembly supervisor but had very broad
job responsibilities. Andy s time was taken up in areas such as supplier quality
evaluations, internal process documentation, process improvement, and much more.
His focus was very widespread and his day was drawn away from scheduled and
unscheduled meetings; this position required long hours and weekend work. In
addition to the quality issues, truck interior trim shortages was another challenge,
which resulted in reordering of trim parts leading to additional material handling, and
post assembly installation. These delayed parts required overtime that increased cost
and delayed delivery of the finished truck of the customer. Issues came from both
Navistar and their supplier Trimco. Navistar had design changes such as different
sizes, repositioning of mechanisms and other various designer and material changes;
however, these changes to the truck interiors were not communicated to Trimco
before production runs were completed. As a result, parts were shipped with different
specifications than those needed for proper fit during assembly. Due to the lack of
coordination and communication,
African Americans And Reconstruction Essay
Throughout the duration of the Civil War in 1861 to the 1920s, African Americans
made significant strides toward their advancement in America and toward equity with
whites. After having being subjected to white governance and enslaved for so long,
their dependence generated a sense of unfamiliarity with their newly acquired
emancipation. This uncertainty sparked many debates regarding the most effectual
way to go about receiving their inalienable rights as human beings, not merely
substandard Negros as they were perceived to be. However, some thought that the
most effective approach would be to acquiesce to the subservient status upheld by
whites in order to earn their respect until equity permeated. Others were more
combative in their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the subsequent time period following the war was deemed the period of
Reconstruction, a time of mending a restoration after the detriment of war. However,
it was during that time that southern whites attempted to regress back to enslavement
by perpetuating their preeminence over blacks and instituting restraints on the rights
of the freshly freedmen. Such measures as the Black Codes and the KKK were
implemented within the South to regulate the actions of African Americans as though
they were in slavery but without the security of safety that comes with being
considered property. Though chattel slavery had been abolished, the abruptness of its
termination left several pertinent issues unresolved in relation to the status of African
Americans. The terms of the war only required the southern states to remove the
succession clause from their state constitutions. However, in spite of its connotation
of brutality, the period of Reconstruction was also beneficial in some repute as it
established public education for both blacks and whites. Although their predicament
didn t improve much, gradually there was a transformation in the manner in which
African Americans regarded themselves. This self realization is what
Social Theory And Social Judgement Theory
Abstract
The topic to be discussed here is one of the social sciences based on the theories
Groupthink and Social Judgement Theory. I will propose a study to analyze the
relationship between the number of hours of media an individual receives and its
effects on his or her voting behavior. The participants of this proposed study will be
registered voters between the ages of eighteen and seventy and residents of the United
States of America. The primary method of collecting data will be through surveys.
Once the data has been, collected a multiple regression will be constructed. Please
note, the terms person, individual, subject, and voter are used interchangeably
throughout the document.
Introduction
This document discusses a proposed study that analyzes a person s media exposure
and how that effects his or her voting behaviors. Throughout this document I will
discuss the theories associated with the proposed study as well as how this study
could impact the theories and everyday life that the theories are based upon.
Associated Theories
The proposed study is based upon two theories: Groupthink and Social Judgement
Theory.
Groupthink can be described as a phenomena that causes a group of people to become
so extremely concerned with unanimity that each person makes decisions without
considering all of his or her options. This type of phenomena tends to hold a negative
connotation because the thought process associated with the theory causes people to
fall to peer

The Consequences Of Discipline In Children By Ray
Bradbury
Jim Rohn once said, Discipline is the foundation upon which all success is built.
Lack of discipline inevitably leads to failure Ray Bradbury would agree with this
notion as he addresses the consequences of not disciplining your children. Ray
Bradbury shows the conflict of Lydia and George, wealthy parents who live in a
futuristic society, of not spending enough time with their spoiled and entitled
children Wendy and Peter. The conflict between the parents and the children is the
harms of technology. The author uses motifs, conflicts, and allusions to suggest
that a healthy family unit is parents disciplining their children and spending time
with them. Ray Bradbury uses various motifs in the nursery to warn the audience
of the impending fate of Lydia and George for not disciplining their children. The
nursery consisted of lions so real, so feverishly and startlingly real that you could
feel the prickling fur on your hand and the couple s screams after which they
realized why those other screams had sounded so familiar. (Bradbury 3, 14). The
description of the lions provides the reader with a clear sense of how real the
nursery looks; the couple s screams foreshadow the downfall of the couple in the
nursery. These items show how the parents allowed the kids to become spoiled and
attached to the nursery and gave the love for their parents to the nursery, and we see
this with the motifs. The nursery shows the relationship between the children and the
parents. The nursery
Improving The Manufacturing And Service Delivery
Processes...
Abstract
Information technology utilized to improve the manufacturing and service delivery
processes for companies can deliver individually different products to different
individual customers cost efficiently is called mass customization. When product
components are put together in a modularized way, the mass customization can reduce
the company s all in costs. The mass customizing companies are driven by observing
individual customer request and by comparing them to what other customers have
requested. As the demand for customizing products rise, companies are offering build
to order services to enable customers to configure products to their own needs.
Utilizing mass customization provides a better matching product to its customers
liking as its chosen customization level increases. However, if a company chooses
not to use mass customization, they may result in selling a standard product. Price
customization can lead to a broader adoption of mass customization, and the company
can take advantage of their customized products. Cosmetic customization presents a
standard product differently to different customers. Transparent customization
provides each customer with a customized product without telling him or her about
the actual product itself.
Good services cannot come from processes alone. The important process for winning
customer loyalty is through customization. Mass customization is a process for
customizing cost efficiently. Companies can reduce its unit

The Beloved Children s Storybook, Winnie the Pooh by

Introduction
Winnie the Pooh is a children s storybook written by one of the most famous
children s British writers, Alan Alexander Milne in 1926. Milne s inspiration of the
character was from a stuffed animal that his son, Christopher Robin owned in the
nursery. Therefore, Milne made up a special bedtime story for and about his son; it
was about a silly old bear , some other animal friends and many pots of honey. The
Pooh series, including Winnie the Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner were instant
big hits in England.
Till this day, the stories of Pooh are still being read. It inspired adult works like The

Pooh having to be such appealing character is by no accident. The book Winnie the
Pooh and Disney s film adaptation together make an effort to attract the world s
attention. The story by Milne and the lively pictures by Edward Shepard, the
illustrator inspired Disney s adaptation; characteristics in the book and film coincide
with each other to make such successful creation. This essay will take the objective
view to analyze in what ways the book and film attain its three important purposes of
writing and filming, which grant them the honor of world known storytellers and
Pooh as an enduring and successful character.
Further from noting the three purposes of writing and filming of Milne and Disney,
this essay will explore the textual features including the written, non written
expression and the conceptual parts of texts.

Gun Laws And The United States Of America
Gun Laws Introduction: On December 14th 2012, a young teenager named Adam
Lanza walked into Sandy Hook Elementary School, shot and killed 20 first grade
children and 6 teachers before taking his own life. Adam Lanza s mother was found
to be dead with 4 gunshot wounds in the head on the same day. The tragic and
devastating incident had once again raised the debate about gun control in the United
States of America. Although many American citizens have been demanding stricter
gun laws ever since (not just the recent Sandy Hook incident but many mass
shootings before), the gun enthusiasts and the National Rifle Association (NRA) as
well as the humongous gun companies are still putting pressure on the government,
making it harder for the president to establish new gun control. President Obama
has even stated himself that America was the only countries without adequate gun
safety law. He also emphasized that it was upsetting for him for not being able to
resolve the issue and that he would not stop until he set up better gun laws. This
essay will argue why it is important to establish better gun laws in USA. It is clear
that more guns leads to more deaths. A research conducted by Harvard Injury
Control Research Center shows that where there are more guns, there is a high risk
of homicide across states in USA (assault, robbery, quarrel...). Moreover, the mortality
rate related to firearm accident in 4 states with the most guns are 4 times higher than
4 states with the fewest guns

Wakeboarding
Wakeboarding is a fun and challenging sport. A couple of years ago I was boating
with some friends when one of them pulled out something I had never seen before,
a wakeboard. In the past I had tried water skiing and kneeboarding, but until then I
had never heard of wakeboarding, I haven t picked up a water ski or kneeboard since
that day. A wakeboard is shaped a lot like a snowboard. It is 150 cm long and about
60 cm wide. Riding a wakeboard has been compared to surfing, skateboarding,
waterskiing, and snowboarding. At first I was nervous about learning a new
watersport at age 18, because I remembered how hard it was to get up one ski. My

and made me even more excited about the sport. The next skill I have been
working to acquire is grabs. A grab is contorting your body into different positions
then grabbing the board with one of your hands while jumping. The most
complicated grab that I can currently land is starting the jump in the regular stance,
while in the air I reach through my legs grab the back of my board and execute a
180 degree turn landing in the goofy position. I m excited about continuing to
improve and learning to tweak big air in this new and exciting sport. I am working
towards a goal of being able to land a backflip within the next year. Currently I am
really good at landing on my head. But for some reason when I am wakeboarding
even landing on my head doesn t hurt. I am totally stoked about this awesome sport
that I have found, the thing that will continue to bring me back to boarding is that it
is a sport of never
International Accounting Standards Board And Financial...
It all began on October 2002 where the International Accounting Standards Board and
Financial Accounting Board signed a memorandum of understanding that has come
to be known as the Norwalk Agreement . Here the two boards met and decided to
make their standards fully compatible and put it into practice and once they conquer
their goal, they have to make sure it is maintained. But before I divulge into details
regarding the future and presently achieved goals of the convergence, I would like to
throw some light on the history and background of the two boards involved.
International Accounting Standards were formed between 1973 and 2001 by the
board of the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC). On 1 April
2001, the new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Khaled Hosseini s The Kite Runner
As individuals, and families clamor for the opportunity to reside in the United States
of America and pursue the American dream, it is evident that the land of the free and
home of the brave emblematizes a meaning which extends greater than the breadth of
newfound wealth. In Khaled Hosseini s novel The Kite Runner, the main character
Amir, the son of a wealthy, altruistic, and respected merchant, spends his childhood
seeking for acceptance with his father, and through this process, narcissism
voraciously ravages Amir s thoughts leading him with an abiding guilt. Likewise, this
foremost concern of self preservation, gave way to the blistering, wintery day in
1975 which changed Amir s life is gashed by the wrath of guilt, a wound which began
to close due to the hardships which he had to endure while emigrating to the United
States of America. Ultimately, the magnanimous, tabula rasa known as the United
States of America paved the way for Amir to reciprocate the devotion that those
around him continually displayed, a devotion to sacrifice. All in all, the laborious
peregrination towards the American dream, whereas it functions as a socioeconomic
crux in the lives of many immigrants and American citizens alike, served as an
emotional climacteric, emblematic of the manner in which Amir managed to become
the culmination of Baba s only dream, a noble son. Famed photojournalist Tim

Childhood Vaccination Should Be Mandatory
Both children and adults unable to be vaccinated (for reasons such as having a
compromised immune system) have a right to immunity to vaccine preventable
diseases. Immunity to vaccine preventable diseases for an unvaccinated person is
afforded through herd immunity, which is achieved when a certain percentage of the
population is vaccinated (1). The right of a medical exemption to protection afforded
by herd immunity may be considered to undermine the right to choose for parents and
/or guardians; it is not a choice for the medical exemption to be unable to be
vaccinated (1). However, some persons believe that vaccinations for diseases that are
non transmissible, such as tetanus, should indefinitely remain off the compulsory
childhood vaccinationschedule as the only person that benefits from that vaccineis the
one receiving the vaccine (1). Remaining unvaccinated to a non transmissible disease
induces no harm to anyone other persons in the community or medical exemptions
and a parent should reserve their right to non compliance (1).... Show more content on

It may be argued that it is the right of the community to herd immunity for added
protection, as well as sharing the risks and benefits of vaccination as equal persons
in a society without a minority choosing to free ride the herd immunity when they
are able to be vaccinated (2). Compulsory vaccination shares the advantages and
disadvantages of vaccination equally within a population in an egalitarian and
equitable society (2). However, it must be noted that some parents believe they
should not have to sacrifice their, and their child s, rights for another child s rights
Jeunet Film Techniques Essay
Jeunet s techniques are influential to his film s visual style. For example, Jeunet
utilized wide angle lenses and placed the actors particularly close to the camera.
This produced animated like facial features which worked well with the actors
casted, due to their unique facial features. I did a little bit of research on the cameras
and lenses used to filmand I came up on a blog. The stated that for Tautou, Delbonnel
and Jeunet found that a wide angle 14mm or 27mm lens was just right. Anything
longer or shorter did not look quite right. The camera in AmГ©liebarely filmed
scenes at eye level. Bruno Delbonnel set the camera usually a bit above or below
eye level. Mixed in with the wide angle lenses, a small tilt up or down eventually
contributes to the dynamic look. Another element I cherished about the camera
work was the way Delbonnel moved the camera towards an object or focal point.
He did not simply zoom in, he gradually moved the camera as he moved it with a
turn of about 180 degrees. The use of the track/crane device is common in most films
but Jeunet s controlled... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas By Ursula Le Guin
Can society ever truly be happy? The short story, The Ones Who Walk Away from
Omelas by Ursula Le Guin, addresses this question. It demonstrates a Utopian city
where the people have never experienced any wrong doings. This is a great
response to Wiesel s quote because it controls the idea of morality being inferior
when it is battling against selfish desires. The city of Omelas, does, in fact,
undertake that society may never be fully satisfied due to injustice, guilt, and
void. Many people today face oppression, leaving them hurt and filled with misery.
They d often think, Why? Why me? In this text, Guin states, I will be good, it says.
Please let me out. I will be good! They never answer. The child used to scream for
help at night, and cry a good deal, but now it only makes a kind of whining, eh haa,
eh haa, and it speaks less and less often. Within this so called perfect environment
the people of Omelas live in, there s a menacing aroma. The citizen s joyous

It is the existence of the child, and their knowledge of its existence, that makes

Eating Disorders And The Media
Eating Disorders and the Media Eating disorders have become a major problem
throughout the world, specifically in the United States. The key factor that has an
influence on eating disorders is the media. Including people of all ages and
genders, up to twenty four million people suffer from an eating disorder in the
United States (ANAD np). This is a huge problem in the world today but what
makes it so much worse is the fact that it can be prevented and it is in our control
to change it. Young adults look to these celebrities, which are often their role
models, and try to look just like them. What they fail to remember is the fact that
celebrities have a lot of money, money that can afford nutritionists and personal
trainers. They also fail to remember the extensive measures the celebrities may
have to go through to look the way they do. An example of extensive measures can
be considered plastic surgery. Ultimately, this creates a false goal that is almost
unattainable for the average or regular person. Overall, the media has overtaken a
huge impact on what the ideal body image has become today. Eating disorders are
still on the rise and it is proven that an eating disorder such as anorexia affects up to
5 percent of women from ages 15 30 years old ( Media, Body Image, and Eating
Disorders | National Eating Disorders Association np ). This may not seem that
significant but it is also not considering other eating disorders such as bulimia. All in
all, eating disorders

At Tradewinds High School (THS) we serve students grades 9 12. Our mission is to
create a safe and challenging learning environment in which promotes personal
responsibility and empowers student success. Safety, Academics, and Pride are at the
forefront of our schools vision. If we do these three things well, we will have every
student experience success. Priorities for this schoolare as follows:
Improve school culture
Bring discipline under control
Enhance the curriculum
Raise expectations
Reduce classroom size
Establish a stable faculty and leadership team
Provide teachers with professional development (to enhance teaching practices)
Implement effective intervention programs (to remediate students in weakness areas
As principal of TWH, I feel it is vital to keep the urgency focused on academics. It is
my belief that if we set students up for challenging and engaging classroom
instruction, discipline issues will start to lessen. However, my teachers will feel
supported and respected, and that will be communicated regularly to our students and
school community. ...leaders treat others fairly, equitably, and with dignity and
respect and they establish the expectation that others in the school community act in a
similar manner (Murphy, 2006).
Since Tradewinds High School has a history of high turnover amongst its teachers, I
will have a number of vacancies to fill, and want to be as diligent as possible in
getting the right teachers for this student
Eating Out Thesis
View/Print Essay
Eating out is great! Or is it? The food is, but there is a lot of bad effects like the
unhealthy ingredients not only the ingredients but also the fat and sodium. People eat
this not because they do not care but because they do not know what type of
ingredients and how many calories is in there food. Some places are required to post
the calories for each item but in other places they do not show this time of
information. In the passage I read it says Eating out has been highly concerning since
1977 . It has been concerning because people do not know what their eating, or what
the food contains.Eighteen percent of people calories are consumed away from home
. That was back in 1977 but no more than thirty years later the number increased to
thirty three percent of people consuming these calories away from home. So not only
do I think that the calories should be labeled on the restaurant menu but the U.S.

know what time of food they are consuming. In one piece of chocolate cake there is

If the information was provided people would make make better decisions because
back when some cities had to provide the calories, one hundred fewer calories were

Fashion insiders also have another mental map the map of seasons and shows. When
consumers shop for winter coats or summer swimsuits, fashion insiders are seasons
ahead in their thinking.
Forecasters use these mental maps to organize their observations of directional
information. Since innovations rarely apply to the entire marketplace, information
must be tagged for the appropriate price point, category and classification. In this
way, forecasters turn random bits of data into useful information for decision support,
points and style directions.
The drivers of fashion change
Social and cultural changes are major determinants of emerging fashions. However,
they are themselves affected by the other drivers of change that include globalization
of world markets and accessibility of more sophisticated communications
technologies. The latter has provided people with faster and wider access to more
ideas and influences from other cultures and societies, driving demand for wider
choice in fashion products.

How Heaney Moldes his Roots Through Farming and Forging
Seamus Heaney s poems Digging and The Forge demonstrate how he perceives his
purpose as a writer in comparison to farming and blacksmithing. His first poem,
Digging was Heaney s debut to the world of poetry. He had begun to write poetry
in 1962, but Digging was the first poem he officially published. This poem
highlights Heaney s relationship with his father and grandfather, contrasting his
profession from theirs. He describes them as hard working farmers, which he is not
and could never be due to his love of writing. The word digging itself parallels major
themes in the poem regarding family tradition, memories, and the acceptance of his
vocation. This poem shows Heaney s struggle with recognizing if his identity as a
poet is honorable and how that reflects on his family history. Whereas The Forgeis
published in Seamus Heaney s second volume of poetry. Similar to Digging , The
Forge explores Heaney s admiration for blue collar workers. Through his writing,
Heaney describes a local blacksmith s view of progression, and how once the forge
was an essential part of Irish rural life. In parallel to Digging , the blacksmith
recollects how once farmers explicitly used the services of the blacksmith to repair
and make ploughs and other farm instruments while also forging shoes for their
horses. These two poems are reflections of Heaney s role as a poet and how he

Henri Becquerel, who was studying X rays, had recently observed that uranium salt
left an impression on a photographic plate in spite of its protective envelope. And so
his frail wife set about her work, handling tons of minerals she noted that another
substance, thorium, was quot;radioactive quot;, a term she herself had coined.
Together, they demonstrated in a major discovery that radioactivity was not the result
of a chemical reaction but a property of the element or, more specifically, of the atom.
Marie then studied pitchblende, a uranic mineral in which she measured a much more
intense activity than is present in uranium alone. She found that there were other
substances besides uranium that were very radioactive, such as polonium and radium,
which she discovered in 1898.
Pierre tested radium on his skin. It caused a burn, and then a wound. Its effect on

Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber Point Of View

uses author techniques of perspective to show readers the characterization of the
three main protagonists in this story. Hemingway creates a multipart claim using
perspective as well as dialogue to show readers a pervasive, negative tone carried
throughout the story. Wilson, Francis, and Margaret are characterized by multiple
perspectives with multiple traits and negative aspects to their characters. Wilson s
state of mindis quite judgmental towards the Macombers, basing his thoughts on their
actions. However, he later comes to the conclusionthat Francis, in particular, is not

she was good enough to kick her off the team! Lizzi was forced to hand everything

it wouldn t be worth the trouble. Right after Lizzi was sent home for out of school

Fury Research Paper
Fury is based off Veterans from WWII telling their own story of the war, not how
we won, but what happened during the war, and how it would change their lives
forever (Ghahremani). The actors in Fury were asked to talk to the World War
veterans about the war, and they were in disbelief on what they went through,
losing friends, family, and for some, their own minds. The crew of Fury never
really happened, but it is based on stories of old war veterans. Brad Pitt plays Don
Wardaddy Collider, who is very similar to a man he talked to before the movie,
who is a 90 year old man named Ray Stewart who fought at the Battle of the Bulge
as a tank gunner and driver (Don Collier). The battle of Bulge is the largest fought
battle ever in United States history (battle of the bulge). This battle cost thousands of
lives, protecting their countries to make the world a better place. Although so many
died, the battle ended in a draw.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sherman tank was nothing in comparison to a Tiger. (Milton) The Sherman
weighed 33 tons and had a 75mm gun, compared to the Tiger s 54 tons and an

no damage to the Tiger. (Milton) In the movie, Wardaddy shows us a David versus

with victory, with his entire crew living through
Sylvia Getm Improving Presentation Skills
Information can be shared and communicated in a variety of ways. Public speaking
and formal presentations are common methods of communication that any leader
will need to master regardless of their profession. There are times when it can be
difficult to stay away during a presentation. However, a dynamic speaker can keep
the audienceengaged and interested in the information being shared. Improving
presentationstyle is achievable with the right amount of planning, organizing, and by
getting to know your audience. Observing other presenters is another great way to
improve personal presentation skills.
Sylvia Getman, former Chief Executive Officer at The Aroostook Medical Center, is
a fantastic public speaker and a person worth emulating. There are many positive
attributes that make Sylvia a great speaker. She is a great story teller with a talent
for personalizing the material in a way that unites her with the audience. The most
crucial part of a presentation is the introduction (Haynes, 2016, p. 119). Recently,
when presenting at a local hospital, Sylvia began by sharing a childhood memory of
vacationing to Maine with her family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a way to recognize areas of opportunity, I will request to have my next small and
large group presentations video taped. Video taping the presentation will allow for
personal reflection and recognition of strengths and weaknesses. I will ask a co
worker to keep track of how many ahs and ums I use and set a personal goal for
eliminating these from any of my verbal presentations. I will also begin using the
audience analysis worksheet provided in the textbook (Haynes, 2016, pp. 144

group presentations. Allowing more time for practice and rehearsals will also allow
for a more fluid presentation and perhaps even get me to move away from the

Analysis Of The Generation Of Monsters
According to Jenny Strauss Clay, in their journal titled The Generation of Monsters
in Hesiod, there is a natural hierarchy of men and beasts (Clay 112). As with any
hierarchy, there are usually differences, or in this case distinguishing features of the
divine, the bestial, and the human, which instinctively place some creatures above
others (Clay 108). In the Greek and Roman myths that we read in class, this hierarchy
is clearly shown through the relationship between the gods and monsters. As written
in Theogony, all monsters derived from Gaia, however it is their appearances that set
them apart from the gods. Clay defines being monstrous as being an anomaly. From
birth, a monster does not fit into usual classifications, or... Show more content on

Thus, there are new standards for all beings.
Greek and Roman monsters are hybrid creatures that unite normally disparate
elements, like for example, the human and the bestial (Clay 106). It is their
distinctive qualities that make them discriminated against. Sometimes, they involve a
multiplication of human or animal features or they violate fundamental categories,
for instance, mortal/immortal, young/old, and male/female (Clay 106). One example
of this in the Aeneid is Cerberus. Once Aeneas and the Sibyl cross the river to get
into the underworld, they see this multi headed dog that guarding the gates. As
revealed in Theogony, Cerberus is also the offspring of two monsters, Echidna and
Typhon (Hesiod, Theogony, 310 315). Like Clay wrote, the gods would view those
who had multiples of the same feature as monsterous. Thus, it makes sense how in the
Aeneid, Cerberus is described as having three throats, an enormous bulk, and serpents
writh[ing] around his neck (Virgil, Aeneid, p. 198, 6.480 482). Because of this, the
gods are fine with using him as a guard. They are taking advantage of him so that
they don t have to deal with people trying to sneak out of the underworld. This is all
because, as a monster, their excessive power or distinguishing features inspires fear,
especially in those who rule . So Zeus is left neutralize the threat and then incorporate
them into his new order (Clay
The Role Of Wolves In The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem
Are you okay with wolves being reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park?
Yellowstone is thinking about reintroducing more wolves into their park. The
wolves are growing and eating most of the animals there. They shouldn t introduce
wolves back Yellowstone park because there are already plenty of them. Even more
of them would kill most of the animals living there. For example, the wolves have
been growing a lot over the past years there are 400 450 wolves in the Greater
Yellowstone Ecosystem. They shouldn t have wolves in Yellowstone because it will
kill the other animals. We don t want animals getting hurt or even extinct because it
would be bad not being able to have enough animals. A couple hunters have been

The Spiritual Journey In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
He bowed low, right down to the ground, in front of the man sitting there
motionless, whose smile reminded him of everything that he had ever loved in his
life, of everything that had ever been of value and holy in his life (Hesse 122). In
1922 Hermann Hesse published his popular novel, Siddhartha. This book follows the
spiritual journey of a man named Siddhartha. During his odyssey, Siddhartha finds
himself in the presence of many teachers that help him with his trek to Nirvana, the
state of tranquility. Although he prefers to not learn from teachers, Kamala educates
him about passion, Vasudeva guides him to enlightenment, and Govinda edifies
Siddhartha throughout his entire life. They all teach Siddhartha essential life lessons
on his voyage to self discovery. Kamala, a woman Siddhartha crosses paths within the
city, educates him on the true meaning of passion. During their relationship, Kamala
sees something unique in Siddhartha, You are stronger than others, more supple,
more willing. You have learned my art well, Siddhartha. Someday, when I am older,
I will have a child by you (Hesse 59). As a courtesan, Kamala typically never feels
this way about others. Their infatuation grows for one another throughout the novel,
even though both claim they will never love. Numerous years pass in the city; they
end up growing old together and Siddhartha knows he needs to leave and return on
his path to reach Nirvana. Covertly pregnant with Siddhartha s child, Kamala

Evaluation: Due to the fact that the Da Vinci s Vitruvian man lab demonstrated
failure on the past examinations, we can feel free to assume that many errors are
shown in this experiment. The first error noticed is the fact that we measured
everything with a small measuring tape instead of a big measuring tape, which
didn t help since we were taller and bigger than the measuring tape, so we had to
use two measuring tapes added together. Using a small measuring tape to find out
these measurements ended being extremely inaccurate. After data collection we
were not really sure if the numbers we got were real, and it probably affected a lot
on the way the results came out. The lab activity validity started to be questionable
now. By the time we were looking for the four measurements needed just one group
of people from the class was using a measuring tape, the rest of the class were using

How Does Carlos Williams Relate To Romanticism

William Carlos Williams
William Carlos Williams was a poet closely associated with modernism and
imagismНѕ he figures among the group of four major American poets born in the
twelveВyear period following 1874. His work has a great affinity with painting, in
which he had a lifelong interest. In addition to his writing, Williams had a long career
as a physician practicing both pediatrics and general medicine. He was affiliated
with what was then known as Passaic General Hospital in Passaic, New Jersey,
where he served as the hospital s chief of pediatrics from 1924 until his death. He
wrote many famous works, however, his most famous was overshadowed by Thomas
Stearns Eliot s, The Waste Land. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses descriptions of the outside world and his personal experiences to create his
analogy. In the first line of the poem he uses the possessive adjective, My
townspeople, to refer to his patients as his and his to take care of. He then
continues to reference the people as [whining] about him calling! Calling! this
decision that voices the attachment and desperation that he feels when he knows
someone needs him can be related to his everyday life and is an example of his use
of realism. He writes how he answers these calls as loud as I can, refering to the
fact that he tries to help as much as he can, sometimes receiving no avail. Williams
then continues to use his views as an imaginist to connect an analogy with seagulls to
the townspeople. In his second stanza he refers to the point that as a doctor he
usually thinks about things in terms of science and factual evidence, as he is talking
about why the seagulls rest upon [their] river in the winter and why people seek
shelter during a storm. He states that these things do not happen without reason.
These lines directly relate to how the modernist realism style seeps into his poetry. He
creates a realistic image in the reader s head about seagulls on a frozen river and
then people seeking shelter during a storm, then connects it to his views on reason
and fact. As a doctor, one must always be current with the new practices, diseases,
and technology, so this can explain why he thinks in modern terms when writing
poetry. In the third stanza of the Gull, he brings his jewish background and
upbringing into the poem. He states that he knows, assumably, christians have their
own hymns, and because [he] knows they invoked some great protector, that he can
not be angry at them for having different views than him. The hidden religious aspect
Estee Lauder Case Study
The environmental factors are something that the company cannot control but able
to response back to the change. As time change, more and more women are
educated and work in professional fields which require women to dress and look
professional; this increase the demand of skin care products and make up products.
Also, people work under a fast paced environment and this make time become
important, EstГ©e Lauder company would want to think how to response to the
change of time. Customers want to shorten skin care time by applying a 2 minute
moisturize instead of a 15 minutes mask, so EstГ©e Lauder needto innovate their
products or create a new product that save customers time. Currently, EstГ©e Lauder
creates a capsule product as replacement of serum, which is easier to carry and use.
Within international trading, the language and culture of other country affect the
way company package EstГ©e Lauder Advanced Night Repair and the way they
advertised the product. For example, the culture of China love to use red color when
it comes to celebration, and avoid use black or white when wrap the products.
Economic
The better the economic, the more sale of the product. If the economic goes well,
more and more female customers would able to afford the premium product, and
customers are willing to spend more. If economic goes under recession, the demand
of product decrease which hurt the sale. The company might want to create more
promotion to lower the price to maintain customer
Health Care Industry Analysis Paper
The health care industry consists of several industries that provide services to private
and business consumers. In 1886, Robert, James and Edward Johnson created a
company that has since revolutionized the creation and production of healthcare
products for all ailments. From their formation in a New Jersey garage, to operating
in over 60 countries worldwide, Johnson Johnsoncomprises more than 250 companies
and employs nearly 200,000 worldwide (Johnson Johnson Services, 2016). Dating
back to the early 1900 s, Johnson Johnson has continued to be the leading resource for
providing healthcare products to consumers throughout the world.
In the event of an emergency, readily available kits did not exist with emergency
response items, however, Johnson Johnson became the first company to provide
first aid kits to the public back in 1888 (Gurowitz, 2013). Johnson Johnson
introduced a line of maternity products back in 1894, designed to help women
during childbirth; which was also another industry first (Johnson Johnson Services,
2016). For the next fifty years, Johnson Johnson secured their name as the world
leader in consumer healthcare products. Total United States sales equaled $34.8

3 Monitoring and feedback is a more hands on approach which signifies a no
surprises working practices. It builds rapport between managers and employee,
prevents issues escalating and can often work well with an open door approach. The
regular and informal feedback that employees should be able to expect throughout the
year keeps employees on track with current business requirements. (Martin and
Jackson, 2005, p154)
3 Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs clearly motivates employees by meeting their self
actualisation needs by offering career progression, introducing new elements to a
role, developing supportive training and personal coaching.
4 Locke s Goal Theory works by setting SMART objectives which are determined in
agreement by the employees to meet the manager s requirements. As the objectives
are determined by the employee it raises the commitment and desire to achieve a
specific goal.
5 Reward links closely to the performance management system as employees expect
to be rewarded for their loyalty, hard work and contribution (Martin and Jackson,
2005, p156). Rewards act as:
1 A means of motivating employees to attain a specific requirement and a PMS
requires the right combination of financial and non financial motivators . (Martin and
Jackson, 2005, p157) The reward can be individualised to the employee giving it
personalised motivation.

why PricewaterhouseCoopers should consider their investment opportunity. I

primary indicators I determined as healthy , two out of four for the secondary, and
one out of two for the additional categories. This does not fulfill the 4+2 winner

Motorola must innovate current technology to keep users connected beyond their
phones and to other applications as well. In other words, for Motorola to win the
game, perhaps they have to change the rules of the trade (in terms of innovative
technology such as Snapchat and Facebook). Motorola is extremely focused on
their own research and development and place a large emphasis on the importance
of innovation. Strong liquidity within the company proves to be a large advantage
for Motorola compared to its less so liquid competitors. Companies with cash flow
problems tend to have many difficulties while operating within day to day business
activities. Execution Motorola passes this requirement with flying colors. Employees
rely on their ability to effectively and efficiently execute consistent business
practices. Many municipalities and disaster relief efforts use Motorola s hardware
and software technology as a foundation for their own practices and work. Chad

Execution, it s just that plain simple, our customers rely on us . He further stressed

Essay On Secularism

  • 1. Essay On Secularism Crafting an essay on the topic of secularism can be both challenging and rewarding. The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of the subject, as it involves delving into historical, political, social, and philosophical dimensions. Secularism, as a concept, encompasses the separation of religion from government affairs, ensuring a neutral ground where diverse beliefs can coexist harmoniously. To write a comprehensive essay on secularism, one must navigate through the historical evolution of secular ideologies, examining how they have shaped societies over time. It requires an in- depth understanding of the cultural and political contexts in which secularism has emerged and evolved. Additionally, addressing the various perspectives on secularism poses a challenge. The essay must encompass viewpoints from proponents who champion the separation of church and state, as well as critiques from those who argue against it. Balancing these perspectives while providing a nuanced analysis demands careful consideration and a well-rounded understanding of the subject matter. Furthermore, exploring the implications of secularism on individual freedoms, religious practices, and the overall dynamics of a society requires a thoughtful approach. One needs to navigate through the complexities of balancing the right to freedom of religion with the necessity of maintaining a secular state. In conclusion, writing an essay on secularism requires not only a solid grasp of historical and philosophical concepts but also the ability to critically analyze and present diverse perspectives. It is a task that demands thorough research, careful consideration of opposing viewpoints, and the skill to weave these elements into a coherent and compelling narrative. If you find yourself overwhelmed or in need of assistance, it's worth noting that there are resources available to support your academic endeavors. Similar essays and more can be ordered on platforms like HelpWriting.net, where professionals can provide guidance and support in crafting well-researched and articulate pieces on various topics. Throughout the play mass hysteria regarding witchcraft spreads throughout the town of Salem and resulting in numerous deaths of innocent people. The girls were lying about everything the whole time . In ВЁThe CrucibleВЁ neighbors suddenly turn on each other , they start to accuse the people they have known for years of witchcraft and devil worship .ВЁThe CrucibleВЁ shows how mass hysteria can ruin a community . • 3. The Impact of Offshoring on the U.S. Economy Off shoring is the establishment of business operations outside national boundaries. The process of moving business outside these boundaries is to garner an advantage either through tax breaks, lower wages, lower transportation cost and/or relaxed regulations ( Offshore definition, 2014). Many firms either branch out as a horizontal multinational or vertical multinational. Horizontal multinational s produce the same good or services as abroad. This foreign direct investment (FDI) is done to strategically place production closer to the target market. Doing this provides advantages surrounding transportation cost while enhancing learning associated with local needs. A vertical multinational is one that fragments a portion of its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Multinational Corporations . The analysis will evaluate factors motivating firms to move off shore and the associated impact on the U.S. work force. The three measures that will be discussed are 1) value added (i.e. the measure of capital and labor gain at a given production stage), 2) capital expenditures (i.e. land, buildings and equipment), and 3) employment (i.e. number of jobs lost/created). The paper will conclude with a discussion of outcomes between 1977 2003 using data supplied by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Assessment Economic integration aims to reduce cost and increase value for both producers and consumers. This is accomplished by increased international trade for goods and services. Economic integration has expanded markets by which firms can play . Firms are more self serving, their motive is to reduce cost and increase profits. To do this firms have begun to off shore their operations. Off shoring allows a firm to lower cost and establish a presence closer to target markets. This process has become easier with technology advances. For example, information can be shared and transactions made with the click of a button. International borders are easy transcended with expansive transportation networks. This facilitates product movement and placement of resources, supporting just in time (JIT) manufacturing. Critics of this believe overall economic well being is affected when companies off shore, since jobs and
  • 4. Choosing A Car Analysis Choosing the right car can be difficult when one is trying to choose the right make or model. When it comes to buying a car someone should focus on buying a new car instead of an old one because used cars can be troublesome. Price matters because when you are in college, it s hard to save money, and you can t work a full time job while having to do classes and homework. The safety feature is important not only to keep me safe and alive, but it s also keeping me from wrecking my car, which keeps my Assurance from going up. I have little sibling, it keeps them safe with new and updated safety features. Buying a car cost money, while, in college, I need a car that will not be bothersome. • 5. How Does Marquez Use Imagery In One Of These Days have always enjoyed the writings of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and selected the story called One of These Days . In the story, we are introduced to Aurelio Escovar a poor, uneducated dentist. Although brief, the story is full of interesting imagery. One thing I observed as I read the story is that he seems to lack any sense of urgency. It seems he simply begins this day as he does every other. No patients arrive and he pauses to study some buzzards he can see from the window. Who spends time contemplating buzzards as they sit on a nearby roof? Why are they even there? After several hours of this, the mayor arrives and he refuses to see him. The mayor threatens to shoot him and when Aurelio opens his drawer to reveal his own gun it becomes clear that it is not simply a figure of speech. He still lacks any urgency as he takes his time to respond and get set up to pull the mayor s tooth that is ailing him, even with the threat of being shot lingering.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You don t get the sense that he is a happy man. Looking out his window he wonders when it will rain so even the weather is dreary. The buzzards reinforce this dreariness. Details given by Marquez, such as It was a poor office: an old wooden chair, the pedal drill, a glass case with ceramic bottles and the crumbling ceiling and a dusty spider web with spider s eggs and dead insects (Marquez, n.d.) lend themselves to the bleak tone of the
  • 6. An Analysis Of The Rivals And Malapropism Spoonerisms and Malapropisms Spoonerism, derived from Rev. Dr. William A. Spooner (1844 1930) famed for slips of the tongue, is the transposition of sounds particularly the initial consonants of two or more words. Usually, in effect, spoonerism is comical since it is done accidentally. Meyer et al. (2002) explain that What we learn from slips of the tongue with regard to psycholinguistics is that we obviously start speaking before we have plannedhow to finish our very first sentence and that planning seems to start with a rough outline of the sentence structure which eventually filed with lexical items while speaking has already started. The latter is also shown by the fact that speech errors in general preserve, for the most part, the word... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The conversation delineates a telegraphic speech as the sentences have been chopped to the most basic units but still meaning is conveyed. On the contrary, Wernicke s aphasia (fluent) is the result of damage to the left temporal lobe of the brain. A person with this condition speaks fluently in long sentences but empty. In addition he/she has great difficulty in understanding speech and often unaware of his/her mistakes. People with Wernicke s aphasia experiences phonemic paraphrasias (substitution erros) for they produce similar sounding word instead of the target word (e.g. why for wine ).They tend to add additional syllables to words and additional words to phrases. They may make up new words, called neologisms (Mayeux and Kandel, n.d., p.8). Illustrating further (Avrutin, n.d., pp.3 4) also usedthe Cookie Theft Picture with H.W., an aphasic patient, who uttered: First of all, this is falling down, just about, and is gonna fall down and they re both getting something to eat... but the trouble is this gonna let go and they re gonna fall down...but already then...I can t see enough but I believe that either she or will have some food that s not good for you and she s to get some for he, too...and that you get and you should not it there because they should not go up there and get it unless you tell them they could have
  • 7. Mindfulness Activity Report Purpose of the Activity: SOS is a mindfulness exercise that can be used to increase internal awareness of group members. It emphasizes staying present in the current moment and can be used to ground a group. Over time this mindfulness exercise can help to teach group members how their environment impacts them and how to address their triggers . The facilitator encourages the group members to use the mindfulness activity to observe and describe their surroundings and feelings without judging them. Population: This activity can be used in almost any population. It has been known to be effective in groups that focus on trauma, but can also be utilized in less high stress situations. The facilitator can easily make this activity more kids friendly by speaking using terms that they understand. When to Use This Activity: SOS can be utilized at any point during the group process. • 8. Navistar Case Study Executive Summary Navistar was a worldwide leader in the manufacturing medium and heavy trucks for 17 consecutive years in the North American market. Navistar s premium conventional trucks were produced at the Chatham assembly plant, which had almost 14 years experience in producing Navistar s premium line since 1983. Navistar had forecasted increased industry demand for heavy and medium trucks in 1998. Especially, the Chatham assembly plant s customers had strict requirements to the truck s quality and delivery date. As the assembly supervisor in Chatham, Andy Ramsz encountered the interior trim quality and delivery problem for the truck. Environment and Root Cause Analysis Navistar considered quality and on time delivery as a priority that came before costs; therefore, top management as well as initiatives to improve processes and on time delivery supported various improvement initiatives to quality programs. Andy is an assembly supervisor but had very broad job responsibilities. Andy s time was taken up in areas such as supplier quality evaluations, internal process documentation, process improvement, and much more. His focus was very widespread and his day was drawn away from scheduled and unscheduled meetings; this position required long hours and weekend work. In addition to the quality issues, truck interior trim shortages was another challenge, which resulted in reordering of trim parts leading to additional material handling, and post assembly installation. These delayed parts required overtime that increased cost and delayed delivery of the finished truck of the customer. Issues came from both Navistar and their supplier Trimco. Navistar had design changes such as different sizes, repositioning of mechanisms and other various designer and material changes; however, these changes to the truck interiors were not communicated to Trimco before production runs were completed. As a result, parts were shipped with different specifications than those needed for proper fit during assembly. Due to the lack of coordination and communication,
  • 9. African Americans And Reconstruction Essay Throughout the duration of the Civil War in 1861 to the 1920s, African Americans made significant strides toward their advancement in America and toward equity with whites. After having being subjected to white governance and enslaved for so long, their dependence generated a sense of unfamiliarity with their newly acquired emancipation. This uncertainty sparked many debates regarding the most effectual way to go about receiving their inalienable rights as human beings, not merely substandard Negros as they were perceived to be. However, some thought that the most effective approach would be to acquiesce to the subservient status upheld by whites in order to earn their respect until equity permeated. Others were more combative in their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, the subsequent time period following the war was deemed the period of Reconstruction, a time of mending a restoration after the detriment of war. However, it was during that time that southern whites attempted to regress back to enslavement by perpetuating their preeminence over blacks and instituting restraints on the rights of the freshly freedmen. Such measures as the Black Codes and the KKK were implemented within the South to regulate the actions of African Americans as though they were in slavery but without the security of safety that comes with being considered property. Though chattel slavery had been abolished, the abruptness of its termination left several pertinent issues unresolved in relation to the status of African Americans. The terms of the war only required the southern states to remove the succession clause from their state constitutions. Although their predicament didn t improve much, gradually there was a transformation in the manner in which African Americans regarded themselves. This self realization is what
  • 10. Social Theory And Social Judgement Theory Abstract The topic to be discussed here is one of the social sciences based on the theories Groupthink and Social Judgement Theory. I will propose a study to analyze the relationship between the number of hours of media an individual receives and its effects on his or her voting behavior. The participants of this proposed study will be registered voters between the ages of eighteen and seventy and residents of the United States of America. The primary method of collecting data will be through surveys. Once the data has been, collected a multiple regression will be constructed. Please note, the terms person, individual, subject, and voter are used interchangeably throughout the document. Introduction This document discusses a proposed study that analyzes a person s media exposure and how that effects his or her voting behaviors. Throughout this document I will discuss the theories associated with the proposed study as well as how this study could impact the theories and everyday life that the theories are based upon. Associated Theories The proposed study is based upon two theories: Groupthink and Social Judgement Theory. Groupthink can be described as a phenomena that causes a group of people to become so extremely concerned with unanimity that each person makes decisions without considering all of his or her options. This type of phenomena tends to hold a negative connotation because the thought process associated with the theory causes people to fall to peer

  • 12. The Consequences Of Discipline In Children By Ray Bradbury Jim Rohn once said, Discipline is the foundation upon which all success is built. Lack of discipline inevitably leads to failure Ray Bradbury would agree with this notion as he addresses the consequences of not disciplining your children. Ray Bradbury shows the conflict of Lydia and George, wealthy parents who live in a futuristic society, of not spending enough time with their spoiled and entitled children Wendy and Peter. The conflict between the parents and the children is the harms of technology. The author uses motifs, conflicts, and allusions to suggest that a healthy family unit is parents disciplining their children and spending time with them. Ray Bradbury uses various motifs in the nursery to warn the audience of the impending fate of Lydia and George for not disciplining their children. The nursery consisted of lions so real, so feverishly and startlingly real that you could feel the prickling fur on your hand and the couple s screams after which they realized why those other screams had sounded so familiar. (Bradbury 3, 14). The description of the lions provides the reader with a clear sense of how real the nursery looks; the couple s screams foreshadow the downfall of the couple in the nursery. These items show how the parents allowed the kids to become spoiled and attached to the nursery and gave the love for their parents to the nursery, and we see this with the motifs. The nursery shows the relationship between the children and the parents. The nursery

Introduction Winnie the Pooh is a children s storybook written by one of the most famous children s British writers, Alan Alexander Milne in 1926. Milne s inspiration of the character was from a stuffed animal that his son, Christopher Robin owned in the nursery. • 20. Gun Laws And The United States Of America Gun Laws Introduction: On December 14th 2012, a young teenager named Adam Lanza walked into Sandy Hook Elementary School, shot and killed 20 first grade children and 6 teachers before taking his own life. Adam Lanza s mother was found to be dead with 4 gunshot wounds in the head on the same day. The tragic and devastating incident had once again raised the debate about gun control in the United States of America. Although many American citizens have been demanding stricter gun laws ever since (not just the recent Sandy Hook incident but many mass shootings before), the gun enthusiasts and the National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as the humongous gun companies are still putting pressure on the government, making it harder for the president to establish new gun control. President Obama has even stated himself that America was the only countries without adequate gun safety law. He also emphasized that it was upsetting for him for not being able to resolve the issue and that he would not stop until he set up better gun laws. This essay will argue why it is important to establish better gun laws in USA. It is clear that more guns leads to more deaths. A research conducted by Harvard Injury Control Research Center shows that where there are more guns, there is a high risk of homicide across states in USA (assault, robbery, quarrel...). Moreover, the mortality rate related to firearm accident in 4 states with the most guns are 4 times higher than 4 states with the fewest guns

Analysis Of Khaled Hosseini s The Kite Runner As individuals, and families clamor for the opportunity to reside in the United States of America and pursue the American dream, it is evident that the land of the free and home of the brave emblematizes a meaning which extends greater than the breadth of newfound wealth. In Khaled Hosseini s novel The Kite Runner, the main character Amir, the son of a wealthy, altruistic, and respected merchant, spends his childhood seeking for acceptance with his father, and through this process, narcissism voraciously ravages Amir s thoughts leading him with an abiding guilt. Likewise, this foremost concern of self preservation, gave way to the blistering, wintery day in 1975 which changed Amir s life is gashed by the wrath of guilt, a wound which began to close due to the hardships which he had to endure while emigrating to the United States of America. Ultimately, the magnanimous, tabula rasa known as the United States of America paved the way for Amir to reciprocate the devotion that those around him continually displayed, a devotion to sacrifice. All in all, the laborious peregrination towards the American dream, whereas it functions as a socioeconomic crux in the lives of many immigrants and American citizens alike, served as an emotional climacteric, emblematic of the manner in which Amir managed to become the culmination of Baba s only dream, a noble son. Childhood Vaccination Should Be Mandatory Both children and adults unable to be vaccinated (for reasons such as having a compromised immune system) have a right to immunity to vaccine preventable diseases. Immunity to vaccine preventable diseases for an unvaccinated person is afforded through herd immunity, which is achieved when a certain percentage of the population is vaccinated (1). The right of a medical exemption to protection afforded by herd immunity may be considered to undermine the right to choose for parents and /or guardians; it is not a choice for the medical exemption to be unable to be vaccinated (1). However, some persons believe that vaccinations for diseases that are non transmissible, such as tetanus, should indefinitely remain off the compulsory childhood vaccinationschedule as the only person that benefits from that vaccineis the one receiving the vaccine (1). Including people of all ages and genders, up to twenty four million people suffer from an eating disorder in the United States (ANAD np). This is a huge problem in the world today but what makes it so much worse is the fact that it can be prevented and it is in our control to change it. Young adults look to these celebrities, which are often their role models, and try to look just like them. What they fail to remember is the fact that celebrities have a lot of money, money that can afford nutritionists and personal trainers. They also fail to remember the extensive measures the celebrities may have to go through to look the way they do. An example of extensive measures can be considered plastic surgery. Ultimately, this creates a false goal that is almost unattainable for the average or regular person. Overall, the media has overtaken a huge impact on what the ideal body image has become today. How Heaney Moldes His Roots Through Farming And Forging How Heaney Moldes his Roots Through Farming and Forging Seamus Heaney s poems Digging and The Forge demonstrate how he perceives his purpose as a writer in comparison to farming and blacksmithing. His first poem, Digging was Heaney s debut to the world of poetry. He had begun to write poetry in 1962, but Digging was the first poem he officially published. This poem highlights Heaney s relationship with his father and grandfather, contrasting his profession from theirs. He describes them as hard working farmers, which he is not and could never be due to his love of writing. The word digging itself parallels major themes in the poem regarding family tradition, memories, and the acceptance of his vocation. This poem shows Heaney s struggle with recognizing if his identity as a poet is honorable and how that reflects on his family history. Whereas The Forgeis published in Seamus Heaney s second volume of poetry. Similar to Digging , The Forge explores Heaney s admiration for blue collar workers. Through his writing, Heaney describes a local blacksmith s view of progression, and how once the forge was an essential part of Irish rural life. In parallel to Digging , the blacksmith recollects how once farmers explicitly used the services of the blacksmith to repair and make ploughs and other farm instruments while also forging shoes for their horses. These two poems are reflections of Heaney s role as a poet and how he conceives his profession in relation to other

  • 44. Analysis Of The Generation Of Monsters According to Jenny Strauss Clay, in their journal titled The Generation of Monsters in Hesiod, there is a natural hierarchy of men and beasts (Clay 112). As with any hierarchy, there are usually differences, or in this case distinguishing features of the divine, the bestial, and the human, which instinctively place some creatures above others (Clay 108). In the Greek and Roman myths that we read in class, this hierarchy is clearly shown through the relationship between the gods and monsters. As written in Theogony, all monsters derived from Gaia, however it is their appearances that set them apart from the gods. Clay defines being monstrous as being an anomaly. Greek and Roman monsters are hybrid creatures that unite normally disparate elements, like for example, the human and the bestial (Clay 106). It is their distinctive qualities that make them discriminated against. Sometimes, they involve a multiplication of human or animal features or they violate fundamental categories, for instance, mortal/immortal, young/old, and male/female (Clay 106). One example of this in the Aeneid is Cerberus. Once Aeneas and the Sibyl cross the river to get into the underworld, they see this multi headed dog that guarding the gates. As revealed in Theogony, Cerberus is also the offspring of two monsters, Echidna and Typhon (Hesiod, Theogony, 310 315). Like Clay wrote, the gods would view those who had multiples of the same feature as monsterous. Thus, it makes sense how in the Aeneid, Cerberus is described as having three throats, an enormous bulk, and serpents writh[ing] around his neck (Virgil, Aeneid, p. 198, 6.480 482). Because of this, the gods are fine with using him as a guard. They are taking advantage of him so that they don t have to deal with people trying to sneak out of the underworld. This is all because, as a monster, their excessive power or distinguishing features inspires fear, especially in those who rule . So Zeus is left neutralize the threat and then incorporate them into his new order (Clay

In addition to his writing, Williams had a long career as a physician practicing both pediatrics and general medicine. He was affiliated with what was then known as Passaic General Hospital in Passaic, New Jersey, where he served as the hospital s chief of pediatrics from 1924 until his death. He uses descriptions of the outside world and his personal experiences to create his analogy. In the first line of the poem he uses the possessive adjective, My townspeople, to refer to his patients as his and his to take care of. He then continues to reference the people as [whining] about him calling! Calling! this decision that voices the attachment and desperation that he feels when he knows someone needs him can be related to his everyday life and is an example of his use of realism. He writes how he answers these calls as loud as I can, refering to the fact that he tries to help as much as he can, sometimes receiving no avail. Williams then continues to use his views as an imaginist to connect an analogy with seagulls to the townspeople. In his second stanza he refers to the point that as a doctor he usually thinks about things in terms of science and factual evidence, as he is talking about why the seagulls rest upon [their] river in the winter and why people seek shelter during a storm. He states that these things do not happen without reason. These lines directly relate to how the modernist realism style seeps into his poetry. He creates a realistic image in the reader s head about seagulls on a frozen river and then people seeking shelter during a storm, then connects it to his views on reason and fact. As a doctor, one must always be current with the new practices, diseases, and technology, so this can explain why he thinks in modern terms when writing poetry. In the third stanza of the Gull, he brings his jewish background and upbringing into the poem. He states that he knows, assumably, christians have their own hymns, and because [he] knows they invoked some great protector, that he can not be angry at them for having different views than him.
