Comparing Oedipus and Job Essay
Classical literature is filled with stories of capricious deities playing with human lives as if they
were only toys. The Greek tradition of tragedy is based upon celebrating this very aspect of the
nature of the pantheon of Greek gods. Sophocles finds a perfect example of this celebration of fate,
in the tragedy Oedipus the King. Conversely, the Story of Job uses the dramatic tension of a wager
between Godand Satan on the sincerity of Job s devotion to God. Where Oedipus life, regardless
of personal choice, is bound up by fated situations and their fated outcomes, Job s story is one of
choice in the midst of supernaturally imposed difficulties. While both strive to teach resignation to
the will of God, they each espouse quite... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
/ Even if I should shroud it all in silence. (321) This expresses a notion of fated beginnings and
fated endings. The view of fate the book of Job expresses, though similar in that it originates from
God, differs in a few important ways. In Job, situations are predetermined to occur, but the personal
choices of the people involved determine the outcome of the situation. The story of Job opens with
Job s fate of suffering being planned. Satan presents himself in an audience before God. God
makes example of Job, and Satan rebuffs, stating that Job s constancy is only because of God s
preferential treatment. Satan tells God, But put forth thy hand now and touch all he hath, and
he will curse thee to thy face. (40). In response, power is given to Satan to torment Job as a test.
Job s life and finally health are viciously mangled and destroyed by Satan. Though Job does not
know the reasons behind his great suffering, we are told that In all this Job sinned not, nor
charged God foolishly. (41), and In all this did not Job sin with his lips. (41). Self pity creeps into
Job s thoughts and words, but there is no disenchanted turn from God. Instead in Job the reader
sees a turn to God for relief and

Plus And Minus Of Computer Essay
Plus and Minus of Computers
On Saturday 13 May 2017, a huge number of computers around the world running Microsoft
Windows as the operating system were held hostage by ransom ware. The first action taken was
to disable the user interface by preventing access to the system to terminate the ransom ware from
running. Hence files were encrypted making them worthless unless decrypted back. The next
process was to display the ransom ware s demands of extortion of payment, to restore the files to
their original state, and if demands of payment were not met files would be deleted. In one hour
increments if the ransom was not paid the amount of the ransom went up. One place noted for
being held ransom was a hospital in England. If you will picture ... Show more content on

Keep from becoming addicted to the computer, distracted by ads, proper ergonomics, and learn
about the basics of how the computer works. What do the inevitable effects of the computer have
on the brain?
If we take the computer as a carrier of a way of knowing, a way of seeing the world and our place
in it, we are all computer people now (Turkle). The theory that being able to interact with software
on a computer therefore makes a computer person or computer people.
I disagree with that statement Sherry Turkle made, I would agree that a single person would be a
computer user and a group would be computer users. The term computer person implies a
knowledge about the computer when the result of her statement is just using software on a
computer makes a computer person . That same thought to a child of one or two years, sitting on
the lap of a parent, while pressing a key on the keyboard would qualify them as a computer person,
really!
The computer is made up of many components and the operating system is just an interface
between the user and the computer hardware. Software that runs on a computer must be designed
to meet the requirements of the operating system and not exceed the hardware limitations to run

Araby Symbolism Essay
In Joyce s Araby , we see a variety of symbolism. The boy who serves as the main character of the
story introduces religious symbolism and imagery all throughout the story. The narrator who I
assume to boy, references many abstract and tangible things from a religious perspective. For this
writing assignment, I will identify four specific places in the text that is associated with religion,
explain why I have this chose to be in reference to religion and lastly I will explain what the
religious imagery reveals as far the boy s character. Early in the text, the boy discusses going to the
market with his aunt. While going to the market, he observes his surroundings and makes several
religious connections. He imagines himself carrying a chalice... Show more content on

Throughout the text, he seems to be confused and gets caught between his thoughts for the girl
versus his spiritual thoughts. Specifically for the chalice imagery, I found this to be associated
with the boy s obsession to the girl. The way the chalice is held is the way the boy wishes to
hold the girl. I think the religious imagery of the apple tree is associated with the boy s
temptation and loss of innocence for the girl. The boy has already given in spiritually to the girl
by having lust for her, therefore he feels though he has bitten the forbidden fruit and lost his
knowledge; his initial knowledge of knowing Christ. The boy is willing to risk his spiritual life
all for the sake of the girl. For the salver mentioned, I think the boy associated the salver to
religion by the stark image of mixing money in with this. Money and religion are never good
together. The last religious imagery is the description of his setting which associates his religious
experience with his personal life. He has an essential relationship with Christ and therefore spends a
lot of his time in

International Student Retentions
Purpose
The United States leads the world in the number of international students who have chosen to study
away from their home nation (Witherell Clayton, 2014). However, other nations such as the United
Kingdom and Australia are gaining on the United States and have higher retention rates
(Burkholder Holland, 2014). Moreover, these nations have clearly defined national policies to
improve the recruitment and retention of international students, which the United States lacks
(Andrade, 2006). International students provide an abundant source of benefits, which include
financial stability, cultural awareness, and improved skills among domestic students (Luo Jamieson

International students from non Western cultures have more concerns with academics than students
from other Western cultures.
The responses were analyzed with IBM SPSS. Descriptive statistics were calculated for the first
hypothesis. The second and third hypotheses were tested with independent samples t tests. Results
of these analyses follow below.
Findings
First, international students have identified numerous concerns about their academic endeavors in
the U.S. These students found it difficult to participate in class discussions, to find others to
collaborate with, and to understand degree requirements. In contrast, classroom lectures,
textbooks, and tests in English were not as much of a concern. As expected, undergraduate
students (N=19) indicated higher levels of concern. For example, undergraduates were lower
than graduate students on I find it difficult to participate in class discussions, t(50) = 3.34, p =
.002. I find it difficult to receive help from my advisor was also significant, t(50) = 2.57, p = .013,
with undergraduate students scoring lower. Similarly, I find it difficult to receive adequate help
from my professors was significantly different for undergraduates and graduate students, t(50) =

Saul And David
The relationship between David and Saul, portrayed from 1 Samuel 16 through 2 Samuel 12, is a
dynamic relationship. In the beginning, David submitted himself to Saul, serving him, protecting
him from evil spirits. David grew to love Saul deeply, and in turn, the two had a reciprocated
respect. However, as Davidgrew in popularity after defeating Goliath, Saulbecame jealous of
David. That jealousy transformed into the fear of David, and that began Saul s pursuit for David s
death. In the end, Saul committed suicide, with feelings of resent over David. But David never
lost his respect for Saul, the man he believed to be Lord s anointed . The turning point of their
relationship occurred in 1 Samuel 18, after David had defeated Goliath. After

Use Of Hypnosis And Medical Practice
The Use of Hypnosis in Medical Practice
A literature review
Ashley Gowty 10207287
For centuries hypnosis was far from being part of the scientific world. But in the last couple of
decades its reputation has moved from that of cult practise to a highly recognised psychological
practice. Recently there has been an emerging trend using hypnosis in a physiological manner; this
review will look at how hypnosis is currently being used in the medical field. Looking at what
exactly hypnosis is and its therapeutic uses, it s use as a treatment for pain relief and reflecting on
how hypnotizable the general population is.
The literature reviewed is generally definitive in the nature of hypnosis. Bryant and Mabbutt
(2006, p. 12) describe it as ... a state of mind connected to deep relaxation, narrowed focus, and
increased suggestibility. They also suggest that Hypnosis is an intermediate state between sleep
and wakefulness. Bryant and Mabbutt s description is echoed by Cyna, McAuliffe, Andrew who
apply the use of hypnosis to the clinical setting (hypnotherapy) and suggest that it is used to to
achieve specific therapeutic goals such as the alleviation of pain or anxiety. (Cyna, McAuliffe,
Andrew, 2004). Staff at The Mayo Clinic extend upon the defination of hypnosis by stating that
Hypnosis is intended to help you gain more control over undesired behaviours or emotions or to
help you cope better with a wide range of medical conditions. (Staff, 2009). They continue by

Influenza, Avian Influenza, and the Impacts of Past and Looming Pandemics
Avian influenza is a disease that has been wreaking havoc on human populations since the 16th
century. With the recent outbreak in 1997 of a new H5N1 avian flu subtype, the world has
begun preparing for a pandemic by looking upon its past affects. In the 20th Century, the world
witnessed three pandemics in the years of 1918, 1957, and 1968. In 1918 no vaccine, antibiotic,
or clear recognition of the disease was known. Killing over 40 million in less than a year, the
H1N1 strain ingrained a deep and lasting fear of the virus throughout the world. Though 1957 and
1968 brought on milder pandemics, they still killed an estimated 3 million people and presented a

As stated by the World Health Organization, all fifteen HA subtypes and nine DNA subtypes have
been detected in free flying birds . (WHO, 2005, 12) They, in turn, provide a huge and highly
mobile pool of genetic diversity.
Wild aquatic fowl, ducks in particular, serve as a reservoir for the Influenzavirus to transmit into
poultry and then to humans. Infected birds shed flu viruses in their saliva, nasal secretions, and
feces (CDC, 2004). The current virus seen in Asia is denoted as H5N1 and was first seen in
terns in South Africa in 1961 (CDC, 2004). The first human seen infection of the avian H5N1
viruses was in 1997 in Hong Kong in a three year old boy (Ruben, 2005). The outbreak involved
18 cases and killed 6, one third of the confirmed infected population (Rueben, 2005). In three
days 1.5 million birds were killed in order to prevent further spread. A new pandemic is now on
the horizon with recent outbreaks in poultry in the eight Asian countries of Cambodia, China,
Indonesia, Japan, Laos, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam since 2004 (CDC, 2005). As of July
5, 2005, there have been 108 reported human cases of the H5N1 virus with 54 deaths (CDC, 2004).

Polar Bears Polar bears are endangered species in Arctic area s. They are carnivorous bears that
are white and furry. Eight of the nine polar bear populations decreased. Polar bears have black
skin under their fur and have fat that measures to 4.5 inches thick. They have long necks which
is beneficial for them because it helps them swim and when they catch their prey in the tiny

an estimated amount of 20,000 to 25,000 polar bears still living today.
The Great White polar bear is the largest of the world s bear species. Two thirds of polar bears are

One way is the carbon cycle can start off with phytoplankton and algae taking up carbon dioxide

two were found dead in LA in Nicole s browns home. Detectives began looking for suspects who
could cause such a gruesome murder. Their first suspect was Orenthal Simpson also known as OJ

The Importance Of Inclusion In Education
Inclusion is the notion of children being educated regardless of any disabilities they may have. It
allows students with disabilities to learn side by side with those who are not disabled. This is
achieved by providing an array of experiences that all students are able to participate and be
successful in a regular classroom. Inclusionhas been a topic of debate for centuries. Some experts
conclude that inclusion within classrooms is beneficial to all students. In contrast, others argue that
inclusion within classrooms is problematic to achieve and could become detrimental to some
students. Students with disabilities should be educated alongside their neighborhood peers unless
the differences between the two are so great that even with extra support; the regular classroom is
not able to meet the disabled student s various needs.
Most schools today have disabled and non disabled students in the same school but separate their
classrooms. This can be considered a form of segregation which is defined as the act of setting one
apart from another group. The Brown v. Board of Education ruling in 1954 decided that the racial
segregation of students in public schools violated the Fourteenth Amendment. This ruling paved the
way for the 1975 federal law which gives all children with disabilities access to free public
education. According to the American Constitution Society, Before 1975, about one million
American children with disabilities were receiving no education from

What is a Fragrance Chemist? A fragrance chemist is a researcher who conducts experiments to
create scents for household products and cosmetics. These scientists frequently work in labs
creating fragrances that will not adversely affect consumer such as making it a hypoallergenic.
These scientists test the chemical components to ensure that they do not react negatively when
added to the product. These experts have to follow the correct guidelines when handling chemicals

early learning games. This could be made up of cards matching pictures to their English word

progresses, they would become more involved in the lessons that the whole class is doing, but
we would be considerate by using more basic language so that it gives the child confidence in what
they are doing. Correcting their grammar is essential; otherwise they fall into lazy habits. However,
this must be done in a sensitive and caring manner. An example of this is a year 4 Portuguese boy

Camille Pissarro s Apple Harvest In Europe
Apple Harvest in Europe
Introduction
Apple Harvest is a painting created by a French artist named Camille Pissarro in 1888. The
artwork is derived from the European culture focusing on the style of neo impressionism or
pointillism. The painting is made with the use of oil on canvas and currently located inside the
Dallas Museum of Art in second floor in the section of European art. It depicts a lively image of
farmers engaging in their daily activities where they are picking apples on a sunny day. The
background of the landscape consists of a huge ranch with additional apple trees that gives a
vibration of harvesting season. Similarly, it is a form of a representational artwork portraying
physical labor by the farmers during that period. Camille Pissarro seemed to support the farmers of
low social status and believed in hard work as some of his artworks are the representations of
lives of these social groups (Dallas Museum of Art 2017). In the painting Apple Harvest , he
tries to picture working peasants in an apple farm in the French Countryside (Dallas Museum of
Art 2017). This paper is an integration of the analysis of formal elements and principles relevant
to the art work Apple Harvest and my experience of observation of this piece of art at the Dallas
Museum of Art including a reflection upon the visit. Figure 1: Apple Harvest , 1888, Oil on

Mademoiselle Reisz Analysis
The Influences of the Mademoiselle Reiz on the development of Edna Pontellier: Edna is the
protagonist of The Awakening by Kate Chopin. She is the wife of a New Orleans businessman.
She is not content with her marriage and the lifestyle that she must conform to. She changes
from her role as a devoted wife and mother to a woman who becomes engrossed in discovering
her own identity. She then goes through a series of experiences to satisfy herself mentally,
emotionally, and sexually. She changes from the woman of those times, who always stuck to
conformity, to someone who worries and is only responsible for herself. It is Mademoiselle who
influences her to become awakened in such a way. However this very awakening will be her
downfall. She will then begin to isolate herself from those around her and eventually choose
suicide as an escape. A main factor towards the development of Ednawould be Mademoiselle Reiz.
Her influence plays a vital role towards her awakening and change to her life style. From the
moment she heard Reiz play she had begun to be influenced. The very first chords Mademoiselle
Reisz struck on the piano sent a keen tremor down Mrs. Pontellier s spinal column. It was not the
first time she had heard an artist at the piano. Perhaps it was the first time she was ready, perhaps
the first time her being was tempered to take an impress of the abiding truth. (Chopin 29) . It can
be said that the change in Edna was sparked by this very moment. From here on Edna

to the groundbreaking novel. In the beginning of the story, the prisoners are ... Show more content

Another well suited sub theme is survival of the fittest. Although some of these men do befriend

How Energy Plays A Vital Role As A Catalyst For Economic...
Introduction Energy plays a vital role as a catalyst for economic growth and high standard of
living. It is a fundamental input for all sectors, fuelling transport and providing electricity to
industry, commerce, and agriculture. Yet access to energy remains an elusive goal for
approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide (International Energy Agency, 2009). Given energy
s importance in promoting economic growth, governments tend to assist the energy industry
through policies that support research and development, provide low interest loans, and deliver
subsidies to producers and or consumers. The Global Subsidies Initiative estimated that global
subsidies to fossil fuel producers were approximately $100 billion in 2009 (Global Subsidies
Initiative, 2009). Coady et al. (2010) estimated that consumer subsidies for petroleum products
amounted to $57 billion, globally, in 2003, $519 billion in 2008, and $136 billion in 2009.
Subsidies often reduce production costs, make energy affordable to consumers, and encourage
development of new supply sources. Policies involving subsidies often have intended goals to
address market failures or respond to social and distributional objectives. According to Komives et
al. (2007), government support in the form of a subsidy can be critical for ensuring access to
modern energy services, including electricity for the poorest, thereby enhancing societal welfare.
Although these support programs are used to improve the standard of living for various

Milwaukee art museum is easily on of the prettiest places I ve been to. Thats why i decided to
do my two pieces for my compare and contrast extra credit paper from this museum. The first
choice i picked was Dandelion by Harry Bertoia created in 1970. The second is the blown glass
art by Dale Chihuly, created in 2000. Blown glass art is something I found very interesting since
we went over it in class. This sculpture has different blown class structures coming out of it
randomly, and all different shapes. I believe its a very vibrant sculpture that really you can t miss.
Next is the Dandelion it is made out of gold plated bronze and beryllium. The sculpture sits on a
beryllium rod with a ball at the top, coming out of the ball is golf plated

essay The Job Description of an Archaeologist is to examine artefacts and history that range from
prehistoric to modern times. Archaeologists gain information by excavating areas of interest.
When finding bones and things that people used in the past it gives them valuable information.
Archelogy is important because it helps us widen our understanding. The qualities and skills that

Where and when an excavation takes place is contingent upon the archaeologist s research project
and the local weather. Excavation season is typically during the summer and archaeological digs
typically last one week to three months, Before, during and after archaeologists dig for artefacts,
they collect data about the archaeological site, record interviews and make notes of their
observations. Some types of data include photographs, maps, soil samples, measurements,
drawings and detailed reports about the excavation. Archaeologists also survey the site using GPS
technology and other electronic devices and input data into databases. Artefacts discovered and
obtained through excavation undergo a conservation process in a lab. They are cleaned and
restored by trained conservators, and as the items are stabilized, additional notes are made to record
their characteristics. Archaeologists are typically actively involved in conservation activities and
may take measures to ensure laws exist to preserve the sites. They want to protect cultural heritage

Implementing A Big Data Database Platform
Abstract
The primary objective of the document is to detail the steps necessary to implement a Big Data
database platform to achieve what is called an Enterprise Data Lake and to improve Enterprise
Data Hub where all data stored in one place and integrated with existing infrastructure and tools.
Relevance
Presently, I am working as a Database developer in a Software company. My primary role is to help
my clients in implementing appropriate database architecture and analyzing data so that my clients
can understand their users better.
Introduction
The purpose of the research is to collect information and best practices available on the web
relevant to implementing Big Data. A secondary purpose is to conduct research on different types
of big data frame work.
Problem Statement
(EDH) is an Enterprise Data hub where all data stored in one place and integrated with existing
infrastructure and tools. EDH makes information and data accessible to everyone via tools and
application. To Establish Big Data framework as enterprise data hub (EDH) for storing all data,
leverage EDH for following areas:
Build scalable data platform for Security Analytics and Technical Support analytics. Efficient ways
to store large amount of event or machine data; keep security data for longer periods of time to
perform analysis on the data. Architectural advantages allow handling larger amounts of data very
quickly, and scaling up with the number of events being generated. A variety of analytics can

Audit Plan- Glaxosmithkline
Audit Plan GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)
Key business and audit risk:
In order to make the report more efficient we must identify the key areas of business risk and
auditing risk. Business risk can be defined as the risk, which could affect an organization s ability
to achieve its objectives (Gray and Manson, 2007).
Audit risk is defined as the risk that the auditor gives an inappropriate audit opinion when the
financial statements are materially misstated (Soltani, 2007). In Gray and Manson (2007) s book
Audit Risk can be split into three separate elements :
1 Inherent risk reflects the auditor s opinion on the possibility of material misstatement on financial
statement.
2 Control risk is the risk that internal control policies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Firstly, misstatement via the means of non existent sales or sales which have been realised in the
incorrect period. Secondly sales may not be recorded in order to lower sales so provide evidence
in further periods of higher growth than is actually correct. Thirdly sales could be incorrectly
entered into the system providing incorrect figures. Therefore one would need to verify the sales
books, and the controls in place to prevent errors either intentional or unintentional.
Debts
The level of debt that a company holds and their ability to repay this debt is an important risk
factor for GSK. There is a higher risk for GSK than for some of its competitors, as GSK has a
higher leverage than the likes of Pfizer and J J (Financial Times, 2010). However this in itself can
in some cases be more efficient as long as the entity has the cash flow in order to repay these
debts. Therefore one has to ensure during the audit that GSK will have sufficient cash flows to meet
its repayments for the year.
Cash management
Sufficient liquid cash in a company is important to defend against economic uncertainty. A small
cash reserve/ cash flow, can be a control and detection risk, which may result profitable projects
having to be scrapped or assets sold to increase cash flow
Also one has to ensure that the book values for GSK s debtor and creditors are correct and verified
as they make up large sections of the balance sheet and a misstatement of these values would

FDA Approval Process
FDA Approval Process It is commonly documented that every drugs and medical devices brings
some risk or side effects. As a matter of fact, every year roughly approximately 1 2 drugs and 6 8
medical devices are discontinued from the U.S. market because of safety issue. Nevertheless,
the FDA is charged with assessing the protection and value of medical devices and drugs
assessing the advantages versus danger of every merchandise. Nonetheless, the FDA
authorization procedures that are utilized for drugs and devices may vary extensively through
the CDER. For instances the drug expansion program, takes about anywhere from 8 to 10 years,
and starts with a few pre clinical studies that evaluate genetic and safety activity in a variety of
animal models. Most manufacturers have to propose to the FDA in advance what is called an
Investigational New Drug (IND) request to show outcomes of preclinical testing before it can be
tried on humans. Typically studies in humans are carried out in four parts, three of which must

Impact on Unemployment on Standard of Living
If unemployment rises in a country, will its standard of living necessarily decline?
Unemployment refers to the condition and extent of joblessness within an economy, and is
measured in terms of the unemployment rate, which is the number of unemployed workers
divided by the total civilian labor force. If unemployment rises in a country it will affect the
country s standard of living in a negative way, take Jamaican economy for example,
approximately 65% of the labour is unemployed, so if 65% of the population is not earning an
income /income is not being generated then there is going to be a fall out in the economy which
will result in recession and also the GDP will decline. If unemployment continues to increase the

Frictional unemployment are individuals that are temporarily unemployed while transiting between
jobs or just entering the labour market. This kind is typically short in duration but always present in
a market economy. Structural Unemployment whenever an economy undergoes basic structural
changes there is the possibility of some part of the labor force being thrown out of employment. The
long term process of economic development and growth gives rise to variety of structural changes.
Considerable changes in productive activity from traditional agriculture to modern industry;
transformation of rural sectors into urban units; replacement of small scale and cottage industries
by large scale manufacturing units; introduction of electricity or other sources of commercial
energy in place of manual and animal power are some examples of structural changes. The economy
under the process of structural changes is in the condition of transition. Some workers are likely to
become jobless during the process of transition. Moreover, the duration of such unemployment may
also be fairly long depending upon the extent of corrective and restorative measures introduced to
restrict the period of unemployment. What are the policies which a government may adopt to

Helicopter Parents Bad
Helicopter Parents: Good or Bad?
The most important milestone of being an adult is independence from your parents, including
finding a job, a place to live and, for most, a spouse or partner, and starting your own family.
Helicopter Parents a term used to describe parents who are over clingy or overly influenced in
their child s life. Scientists and teachers are afraid that since it is so easy to keep in touch with
people nowadays it is almost impossible for a young adult to develop their own decision making
skills and autonomy. This paper will examine viewpoint, one, two, and my viewpoint on helicopter

For starters, helicopter parents are uncontrollable and do not give their child enough space to

Firstly, not most people know what a helicopter parent is, and cannot even distinguish one from a
regular parent. For example, Sharon Jayson, author of USA Today, shares The line between a
caring and involved parent and a hovering Helicopter parent is getting even murkier. New research
says it is a distinct form of parenting that can have positive effects towards young adults (Jayson).
Thus, there is a distinct difference between a caring parent and a helicopter parent. Secondly,
parents are supposed to be loving and in contact with their child. For instance, Jayson reports
helicopter parents might be privacy invaders and sometimes controlling, but done out of strong
parental concern for their kids success. Therefore, helicopter parents only want the absolute best for
their kid. Thirdly, it is found that millennial kids need more support and more strict parents to be
successful. To illustrate, Jayson shows a study published in August, Journal of Marriage and Family
that shows young adults have better psychological tuning than those who do not have intense
backing monetary, help and emotional. Hence, more involved and over caring parents are helpful
both emotional and physical. For all these reasons, helicopter parents are just like any over caring,

Acute Kidney Injury Essay
ABSTRACT
Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a critical complication after pediatric cardiac surgery that
significantly diminishes the quality of life. Early detection of AKI after pediatric cardiac surgery
can lead to better preventive and therapeutic interventions. The aim of this study was to assess the
usefulness of plasma neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (NGAL) as an early marker of
acute kidney injury (AKI) in cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in pediatric cardiac patients. We
measured serum creatinine, serum urea, and plasma NGAL levels in 30 Egyptian children
undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. We classified patients according to
creatinine criteria of Acute Kidney Injury Network into AKI (n=9) and non AKI (n=21) groups....

congenital heart disease. Monitoring of the patients was achieved by serial measurements of
plasma NGAL, S.Cr and serum urea levels at 2 h preoperatively, as well as 2 h, and 24 h
postoperatively. In addition, we measured the postoperative S.Cr and serum urea during 48 h

The last risk would be financial issues due to insurance issues. Of 10 million Americans nearly 7
million of them being over 65 rely on some level of assisted care (Weston 2012). This number
does not include the number of people that are under the age of 65. Many people that rely on
long term care live on disability or social security. These people are living on extremely limited
income put them and their families in mental distress trying to figure out how to pay for the
needed care. Medicare provides only 100 days of care following hospitalization (Weston 2012).
After the 100 days it then becomes the responsibility of the patient to either pay out of their
pocket or use a supplemental insurance. For many this is an issue as they do not have any other
insurance nor do they have the finances to afford this care on their own. With patients under
Medicaid insurance there is still an issue Medicaid provides long term care, but only after a
patient has deplete his/her finances (Weston 2012). So how does this affect the organization
itself, now with lack of insurance you run the risk of not being paid for services already rendered.
The other risk involved is that if a patient is unable to pay for the care themselves then they have
to resort to other means of care, now the organization has empty beds. Empty beds mean that there
is not a high need for staff members resulting in layoffs. All of these risks can in fact the

who was Ned Kelly? What did Ned do that he deserved to be hanged? Why was Ned important? To
many Ned Kelly is seen as a hero, to others he was seen as a villain but in either event he changed
what would later be Australia. Was Ned Kellygood or bad? Before we understand Ned s story we
must understand Austraila before Ned. Australia was first inhabited by the Aborigonals (the
indigenous people) and was left alone by the outside world until Europeans first had set sail for
the country at around 1606. Between 1606 and 1770 an estimated 54 European ships had came
to Australia. Most of these European ships were from the Dutch East India Company and for a
small time became New Holland. It wasn t until August of 1770 that somebody officially
claimed Australia his name was Lieutenant James Cook. Cook had claimed Australia in the name
for King George the Third and renamed Australia to New South Wales. Once claimed, two fleets
came to Australia the first had eleven ships with about 1,350 people on it. The second fleet had
provided food and supplies that were badly needed but many on the second fleet were ill and
many were near death. None of the people on the second fleet were helpful to the colonies. One
thing to note is that many of the people getting sent to Australia were pervious convicts not only
that, but in 1790 there was one woman to four men. This made making a new colony

Why Cars Are Better Than Trucks
You are making a long term commitment by buying your first car. You are faced with a tough
decision between a truck or a car, and you must weigh the options you have. Trucks are the better
choice of vehicle because of off road capabilities, they can pull heavy loads, and they have more
power If you are on the pro truckside of the argument then you are probably looking at it with
more of a sense of adventure and discovery than a car, and you are most likely more focused on
making memories with your time rather than nice physical things with your money. Yes, it is true
that trucks do not have near as good gas mileage as more fuel efficient cars however. they use that
fuel for different things such as off roading, towing trailers and pulling things. Trucks are often
seen in more rural settings of the country and are used primarily to carry things such as trailers full
of hay, or to do manual things like pulling a tractor out of mud. They are the ideal vehiclewhen you
need raw power to get you out of a tough situation like when your car is buried so deep in mud that

They are not made the same either, they re not meant for carrying heavy loads or pulling
massive amounts of dead weight on trailers. Cars are made to be driven on roads and not to be

surroundings because people do not have to have the beds of trucks to move things or even the
ability to tow things. If you live in a higher populated area or work in a city where the streets and
parking are more limited and narrow, then a car is your ideal

The Era Of The Industrial Revolution
When the Industrial Revolution started, it resulted in the world changing at a high pace. So, the
people started to desire a simpler, and a more stable time. That s when the revival of ancient
architecture started to form. Each type of revival style was associated with a specific architect, for
instance, A.W.N. Pugin was England s leading Gothic revivalist. The revivals of the ancient
architecture influenced the architectural designs of many architects of the time. Two of the most

Its style combined classical ideas from the ancient Greek, Roman, and Romanesque architecture and
deployed their ideas into its architecture (Carven, 7/27/2016). The Beaux s Art style influenced

elaborate details by integrating sculpture that was influenced by the Baroque and Rococo styles. It

Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Stages
Erikson s Psychosocial Stages Erik Erikson discussed psychosocial stages, his theory however
was predicated upon Sigmund Freud s theory of psychosexual stages. According to Erikson, the
ego develops as it prosperously resolves crises that are distinctly gregarious in nature. These
involve establishing a sense of confide in others, developing a sense of identity in society, and
availing the next generation prepare for the future. Erikson proposed a lifespan model of
developing , taking in five stages up to the age of 18 old age and three further levels beyond,
well into adulthood. Erikson suggests that there is still plenty of room for continued emergence
and development throughout one s life. Erikson put a great mountain of stress on the adolescent
time period , feeling it was a crucial stage for developing a person s identity. The outcome of this
maturation timetable is a wide and integrated set of life skills and abilities that function together
within the autonomous individual. However, instead of focusing on sexual development (like
Freud), he was interested in how children socialize and how this affects their sense of self.
Psychosocial Stages Erikson s (1959) theory of psychosocial development has eight distinct stages.
1. Trust vs. Mistrust Erikson s first psychosocial crisis occurs during the first year of life, during
this stage the infant is uncertain about the world in which they live. To resolution these feelings of
uncertainty the baby looks towards

Based on my analysis of sex selective abortions along with weighing social workers ethical
responsibilities, I am a proponent of a ban on sex selective abortions. Social workers are
commited to promoting ethical practices, and aborting a healthy fetus based on its gender is
unethical and to promote such a practice would not encompass the value of integrity that social
workers uphold. I do feel that the idea of a medical professional probing into a patient s personal

access to sufficient spending to become known to the voters (Does online). Therefore the candidate
must resort to any means necessary to have sufficient funds to run a successful campaign. Stricter

SSFs are political committees established and administered by corporations, labor unions,
membership organizations or trade associations. These committees can only solicit contributions
from individuals associated with connected or sponsoring an organization (Quick online). One of
the loopholes that the political action committees found to limitlessly fund campaigns was soft
money. Soft money is a loophole that allows individuals, unions, and corporations to give unlimited
sums to parties and national party committees for party building purposes, at grass root level
(Edwards 284). These groups were able to bypass the regulations instituted by the Federal Election

Similarities Between Eastern And Western Religions
A man, later known as the Buddha, creaks the castle doors rasp open to the world he had only
known as flawless. Protected by the palace walls his whole life, he had lived a luxurious life few
were fortunate enough to live. As he walked out the boiling sun scorched his skin and blinded his
eyes. Itchy sand gathered in his leather sandals and stuck to his legs. Immediately, the luxury he
was used to faded into the life of an ordinary civilian. The Buddha reached the village and
everywhere he turned there was suffering and death. Children with their boney ribs from
starvation, elders who could no longer get up, and men and women sweating and lying in bed ill
and near death. The Buddha knew that he had to do something to help other people. Eastern and
western religions are very similar and different from each other, but they share more similarities
with each other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, the eastern religion, Buddhism, and the western religion, Christianity, both share
similarities. The God in both religions were mortal at one time, meaning they went through the
cycle of birth and death. In Christianity, Jesus was born and raised on Earth to spread the belief of
God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Buddha was also mortal at one time, and was part
of a ruling family, but then left the palace to teach the path to enlightenment. Secondly, Judaism and
Confucianism are interchangeable. Both religions teach the importance of family, helping others
and respect, said in a class discussion. Also, both religions have a set of expectations and rules.
Confucianism has Li meaning the rules of relationships and Judaism has the rules of the Torah.

Carboxylic Acid Lab Report
Carboxylic acid synthesis, reactions and pharmacological activity Carboxylic acid is organic
chemical compound that contain a functional group that is carboxyl group COOH which is made
of hydroxyl group and carbonyl group both attached to the same carbon which is attached to
hydrogen atom or alkyl group thus the general formula of the carboxylic acidis R COOH with R
represent alkyl group or a hydrogen atom. Carboxylic acid functional groupis partly ionized in
solution so it is a weak acid, however it s acidity is considered as the chef chemical characteristic
of it as it is generally more acidic than the other organic compounds that contain hydroxyl group and
more acidic than the common organic functional groups but it is generally weaker than the
common mineral acids such as hydrochloric acid (HCl).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All acid derivates can be hydrolyzed by water to yield carboxylic acids, the condition of this
reaction are vary wildly from mild to severe conditions as it depend on the compound that is
involved. The easiest acid derivate to hydrolyzed is acyl chloride because it require only the
addition of water, carboxylic acid salts can be hydrolyzed simply at room temperature by the
addition of water and strong acid such as hydrochloride acid (HCl) on the other hand carboxylic
nitriles, esters and amides are less reactive and must be typically heated with water and a strong
base or acid to be converted to carboxylic acids, if a base is used then a salt is formed instead of an
acid which can be easily converted to an acid by the addition of hydrochloric acid, the amides are
less reactive and require more vigorous treatment and nitriles can be partly hydrolyzed under milder

Sao Paulo
Good Day Mr. Brown, You recently had asked me to find the risk assessment about Sao Paulo
and this is what I have found. I believe you and the rest of my co workers will enjoy it there but
there are certain places in Sao Paulo that are still dangerous especially in the day time while if
you and the Thomson Reuters team travel to the Central areas in Sao Paulo it is very dangerous
at night. I needed to inform you that the crime rates have decreased since 2011 but the level of
crime is very high calculating to 86.30%, also armed robberies are very common. Crime does
indeed continues to be the ultimate threats to visitors. The Central Sao Paolo is safe in the day
time but be aware that pickpocketing often happens at Praca de Se when you are either... Show

Every year, natural disasters kill people. They have a few dangerous insects found In the
Amazon and health hazards, can mostly come from mosquitoes. The flood watch really occurs
when the rain is pouring extremely heavy causing mudslides, falling trees, swollen rivers, and
hills collapsing due to already saturated soil making houses and buildings unstable to stand still.
Sao Paolo have different alternatives such as using the trains, buses, taxis, or subways to get
around. The roads aren t very safe to drive on Sao Paolo. Taxis are very cheap but to avoid
getting anything personal taken from you have your windows wind up. There are 3 main bus
terminals in Sao Paulo which are Terminal Rodoviario do Tiete, Rodoviario da Barra Funda and
Rodoviario de Jabaqara. Buses would be more accessible, a little safer and prices stay the same
because if you take the subway or even the train it closes at midnight during the week and 1 am
on Saturdays. There are three major airports in Sao Paolo which are Guarulhos International
(GRU) and Viracopos (IATA:VCP or CPQ) both airports travel to domestic and international
areas while Congonhas (CGH) only has medium and short haul flights. The best two places to
stay are the Sao Paolo Lodge Business Hostel and Mercure Sao Paolo Jardins Hotel. It is very
close to all 3 airports both driving and taking the train. Mr. Brown do remember when staying at
the hotel to place your personal belongings into the safe and not to not leave it with the
receptionist. My biggest concern while in Sao Paolo to avoid getting sick or getting any dengue
fever is watching the food you eat and the water or liquids you drink. Sao Paolo is a great city but
please take precaution traveling at night by yourself or even having valuables on you in the day

Essay On Hippocampus
3. Review of literature
3.1 The hippocampus and Cognition
Hippocampus belongs to the limbic system of the brain. In 1960, O Keefe and Lynn Nadel
continued to investigate the functions of hippocampus. The behavioural inhibition theory was
defined and justified many questions regarding functions of hippocampus. Eventually their
investigations have been published an influential book, The Hippocampus as a Cognitive Map (O
Keefe et al, 1978). The spatial coding such as spatial memory and navigation is the functions of
hippocampus are universally accepted as with the memory theory (Nadel et al, 1975; Moser et al,
2008). Simultaneously full fledged work was conducted to investigate the functions of the
hippocampus related with anxiety. Connections between cerebral cortex and associated areas ...

This electrophysiological study showed that the possible cause of neuronal deficit is by back
propagation of action potentials (bAPs) and Ca2+ transient currents altered after chronic alcohol
exposure in vitro model. These electrophysiological changes affect metaplasticity and signal

alcohol induced memory impairment animal models. The repeated doses of ethanol (.5mg 2mg/kg

hippocampal neurogenesis. They have shown the negative results of neural proliferation and cell

  • 2. Comparing Oedipus and Job Essay Classical literature is filled with stories of capricious deities playing with human lives as if they were only toys. The Greek tradition of tragedy is based upon celebrating this very aspect of the nature of the pantheon of Greek gods. Sophocles finds a perfect example of this celebration of fate, in the tragedy Oedipus the King. Conversely, the Story of Job uses the dramatic tension of a wager between Godand Satan on the sincerity of Job s devotion to God. Where Oedipus life, regardless of personal choice, is bound up by fated situations and their fated outcomes, Job s story is one of choice in the midst of supernaturally imposed difficulties. While both strive to teach resignation to the will of God, they each espouse quite... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... / Even if I should shroud it all in silence. (321) This expresses a notion of fated beginnings and fated endings. The view of fate the book of Job expresses, though similar in that it originates from God, differs in a few important ways. In Job, situations are predetermined to occur, but the personal choices of the people involved determine the outcome of the situation. The story of Job opens with Job s fate of suffering being planned. Satan presents himself in an audience before God. God makes example of Job, and Satan rebuffs, stating that Job s constancy is only because of God s preferential treatment. Satan tells God, But put forth thy hand now and touch all he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. (40). In response, power is given to Satan to torment Job as a test. Job s life and finally health are viciously mangled and destroyed by Satan. Though Job does not know the reasons behind his great suffering, we are told that In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. (41), and In all this did not Job sin with his lips. (41). Self pity creeps into Job s thoughts and words, but there is no disenchanted turn from God. Instead in Job the reader sees a turn to God for relief and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Plus And Minus Of Computer Essay Plus and Minus of Computers On Saturday 13 May 2017, a huge number of computers around the world running Microsoft Windows as the operating system were held hostage by ransom ware. The first action taken was to disable the user interface by preventing access to the system to terminate the ransom ware from running. Hence files were encrypted making them worthless unless decrypted back. The next process was to display the ransom ware s demands of extortion of payment, to restore the files to their original state, and if demands of payment were not met files would be deleted. In one hour increments if the ransom was not paid the amount of the ransom went up. One place noted for being held ransom was a hospital in England. If you will picture ... What do the inevitable effects of the computer have on the brain? If we take the computer as a carrier of a way of knowing, a way of seeing the world and our place in it, we are all computer people now (Turkle). The theory that being able to interact with software on a computer therefore makes a computer person or computer people. I disagree with that statement Sherry Turkle made, I would agree that a single person would be a computer user and a group would be computer users. The term computer person implies a knowledge about the computer when the result of her statement is just using software on a computer makes a computer person . That same thought to a child of one or two years, sitting on the lap of a parent, while pressing a key on the keyboard would qualify them as a computer person, really! • 4. Araby Symbolism Essay In Joyce s Araby , we see a variety of symbolism. The boy who serves as the main character of the story introduces religious symbolism and imagery all throughout the story. The narrator who I assume to boy, references many abstract and tangible things from a religious perspective. For this writing assignment, I will identify four specific places in the text that is associated with religion, explain why I have this chose to be in reference to religion and lastly I will explain what the religious imagery reveals as far the boy s character. Early in the text, the boy discusses going to the market with his aunt. While going to the market, he observes his surroundings and makes several religious connections. He imagines himself carrying a chalice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the text, he seems to be confused and gets caught between his thoughts for the girl versus his spiritual thoughts. Specifically for the chalice imagery, I found this to be associated with the boy s obsession to the girl. The way the chalice is held is the way the boy wishes to hold the girl. I think the religious imagery of the apple tree is associated with the boy s temptation and loss of innocence for the girl. The boy has already given in spiritually to the girl by having lust for her, therefore he feels though he has bitten the forbidden fruit and lost his knowledge; his initial knowledge of knowing Christ. The boy is willing to risk his spiritual life all for the sake of the girl. For the salver mentioned, I think the boy associated the salver to religion by the stark image of mixing money in with this. Money and religion are never good together. The last religious imagery is the description of his setting which associates his religious experience with his personal life. He has an essential relationship with Christ and therefore spends a lot of his time in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

International Student Retentions Purpose The United States leads the world in the number of international students who have chosen to study away from their home nation (Witherell Clayton, 2014). However, other nations such as the United Kingdom and Australia are gaining on the United States and have higher retention rates (Burkholder Holland, 2014). Moreover, these nations have clearly defined national policies to improve the recruitment and retention of international students, which the United States lacks (Andrade, 2006). International students provide an abundant source of benefits, which include financial stability, cultural awareness, and improved skills among domestic students (Luo Jamieson Drake, 2013; Owens, Srivastava, Feerasta, 2011). Findings First, international students have identified numerous concerns about their academic endeavors in the U.S. These students found it difficult to participate in class discussions, to find others to collaborate with, and to understand degree requirements. In contrast, classroom lectures, textbooks, and tests in English were not as much of a concern. As expected, undergraduate students (N=19) indicated higher levels of concern. • 7. Use Of Hypnosis And Medical Practice The Use of Hypnosis in Medical Practice A literature review Ashley Gowty 10207287 For centuries hypnosis was far from being part of the scientific world. The literature reviewed is generally definitive in the nature of hypnosis. Bryant and Mabbutt (2006, p. 12) describe it as ... a state of mind connected to deep relaxation, narrowed focus, and increased suggestibility. They also suggest that Hypnosis is an intermediate state between sleep and wakefulness. Bryant and Mabbutt s description is echoed by Cyna, McAuliffe, Andrew who apply the use of hypnosis to the clinical setting (hypnotherapy) and suggest that it is used to to achieve specific therapeutic goals such as the alleviation of pain or anxiety. It allows students with disabilities to learn side by side with those who are not disabled. This is achieved by providing an array of experiences that all students are able to participate and be successful in a regular classroom. Inclusionhas been a topic of debate for centuries. Some experts conclude that inclusion within classrooms is beneficial to all students. The artwork is derived from the European culture focusing on the style of neo impressionism or pointillism. The painting is made with the use of oil on canvas and currently located inside the Dallas Museum of Art in second floor in the section of European art. It depicts a lively image of farmers engaging in their daily activities where they are picking apples on a sunny day. The background of the landscape consists of a huge ranch with additional apple trees that gives a vibration of harvesting season. Similarly, it is a form of a representational artwork portraying physical labor by the farmers during that period. It is a fundamental input for all sectors, fuelling transport and providing electricity to industry, commerce, and agriculture. Yet access to energy remains an elusive goal for approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide (International Energy Agency, 2009). Given energy s importance in promoting economic growth, governments tend to assist the energy industry through policies that support research and development, provide low interest loans, and deliver subsidies to producers and or consumers. The Global Subsidies Initiative estimated that global subsidies to fossil fuel producers were approximately $100 billion in 2009 (Global Subsidies Initiative, 2009). Coady et al. (2010) estimated that consumer subsidies for petroleum products amounted to $57 billion, globally, in 2003, $519 billion in 2008, and $136 billion in 2009. Subsidies often reduce production costs, make energy affordable to consumers, and encourage development of new supply sources. Policies involving subsidies often have intended goals to address market failures or respond to social and distributional objectives. According to Komives et al. You are faced with a tough decision between a truck or a car, and you must weigh the options you have. The outcome of this maturation timetable is a wide and integrated set of life skills and abilities that function together within the autonomous individual.
