Concert Paper
On Wednesday, November 30th at 7:30 p.m, I attended The Lebanon Valley College Chamber
Orchestra and String Chamber Ensembles . It took place at the Lutz Hall. This hall is located at
the Blair Music Center (LVC). It can fit up to 500 people. This time there was about 50 60
people. For this event, the hall was not decorated as I expected. It had a camera in the middle,
recording the concert and that s about it. The stage was big, it fit the 26 members of the orchestra
comfortably.
Entering the hall, there was a guy with the programs on his hand. He was very sympathetic. He
handed one (program) to everyone that came in. Inside the program, there was the performances the

With a total of five performances. Johannes Dietrich was the conductor and he played in all of
the performances. The first performance was Mc Mozart s Eine kleine bricht Moonlicht Nicht
Musik by Teddy Bor. This performance lasted for about four minutes. It had a total of four
members. Two girls and two boys. Two of them played the violin, one the viola and the other one
the cello. Since this was the opening of the concert I thought they were going to play something
longer. They also didn t have an intro, which surprised me a little bit. But the overall
performance was great. It was very calm and relaxing and everyone seemed to enjoy it. There
were four other performances. Five Sketches for string trio Op.23, Quintet in d minor, Concerto
Grosso Op 3, No. 4 in F major and the last one was Symphony No. 104 in F Major (London). All of
them were not that long. I noticed that on the last two performances they added more people. On
the Concerto Grosso there was 15 members in total and on the Symphony there was 26. After
each performance there was a break . On that break all they did was prep the stage for the others.
Some of the things they did was, add/ remove chairs and music

Tourism Management Issues
TOURISM MANAGEMENT ISSUES: DARK TOURISM Discuss the tourism management issues
generated by the growth of dark tourism. Abstract: The aim of this research is to consider dark
tourism and discuss what are the tourism management issues generated by the growth of this
phenomenon. To clarify this concept, the report will also include a definition of dark tourism, a
brief background of why this type of tourism is continuously increasing, and finally conclusions will
be drawn. Keywords: culture management, visitor number management, safeguard, vandalism,

Auschwitz camp is a perfect example for this. It is in the process of continual erosion; the growth of
vegetation and foliage coverage has to be managed and controlled. As Lennon and Foley (2004)
further suggest, there should be management rather than restoration. This dark attraction has
swelled visitor number and catalysed economic activity. A very important issue also identified is
that of culture management. Tourist must be given a code of conduct and be educated to behave in
a certain way when visiting particular sites as to conform and integrate with the local community to
avoid conflict. Tourist themselves have, or should have, an obligation to observe codes of
behaviour and be aware of cultural norms in the destination they are visiting (Howie, 2003). Some
behaviour such as alcohol abuse, shouting, fighting should not be permitted as these might insult
the local community and lack of respect needed in these tragedy sites. While at Auschwitz
Birkenau, groups of schoolchildren were taking photographs of each other, parents were
photographing their children at the gates of Birkenau and indeed, school parties were sitting on the
ruins of the crematorium eating sandwiches(Lennon and Foley, 2004). Furthermore funds required
to conserve sites will also be of consideration. The two options that

Self-Esteem In American Culture
In American culture, self esteem is a big topic of interest. The trend seems to be the higher the
self esteem, the better. We are constantly trying to bring up children who will be happy and
successful in life, i.e. avoiding raising children with low self esteem. But how is someone s self
esteem created? Does level of self esteemequate to the level of interpersonal success a person will
have in life? Having had experienced a wide spectrum of self esteem levels in both platonic and
romantic relationships, these were questions I wished to answer. In order to set out researching,
the following question was used as a guide: are people with high self esteem likely to have more
or fewer interpersonal conflicts than those with low self esteem? I... Show more content on

the article s research was to prove or disprove that high levels of ego identity and self esteem
would be related to lower levels of interpersonal conflict, emotional exhaustion, and psychological
strain. The researchers used 197 boys and girls, ranging in ages 14 to 18 years old, as their
subjects. They were asked age, gender, number of hours they worked per week, then given separate
questionnaires on each of the five variables under investigation. Data results showed that those with
lower ego identity and self esteem tended to report higher levels of interpersonal conflict, emotional
exhaustion, and psychological strain. The authors conclude that participants scoring higher in ego
identity and self esteem are less likely to suffer from interpersonal conflict, emotional exhaustion,
and psychological strain due to feeling better equipt to deal with stressful

Beowulf Is The Longest Epic Poem
Beowulf is the longest epic poem written in Old English. The story centers around the exploits of
Beowulf, a heroic warrior known for his strength and bravery. The theme of heroism is prevalent
throughout the poem through the use of conflict between good and evil forces. Beowulf is often
engaged in selfless conquests in the pursuit of saving others, resulting in his emergence as the hero
of the story. The text, while focusing on the main theme of heroism, is divided into two main parts,
Beowulfas a young warrior and Beowulf as an experienced ruler. Heroism presents itself as both a
virtue and a flaw for Beowulf; although it allows him to become a celebrated warrior, it is also
what leads to his downfall as a ruler.
The poem opens by illustrating the importance of courage, the ultimate form of greatness to the
Danes. So. The Spear Danes in days gone by and the kings who ruled them had courage and
greatness. We have heard of those princes heroic campaigns. (lines 1 3)
In warrior culture, heroism and bravery are celebrated above all else. All great kings of the past
were known for their heroism. Before ever becoming king, young Beowulf is renowned as a great
warrior for his immense strength and courage in battle. Beowulf while known for his mastery of
combat also fulfills his social obligations. He demonstrates virtues such as proper mannerisms,
loyalty, courtesy, and pride all of which are dictated by the Germanic heroic code. He often
demonstrates these virtues as the

Why Are Personal Responsibilities More Important Than...
Why are personal responsibilities more important than social responsibilities?
People have a lot of ups and downs in their life. Sometimes they are happy while they are doing
what they like, or they are stressed of circumstances that arise in their life. They are always
looking for ways to find the balance around them. As a result, they plan different strategies to help
improve the quality of life, so they start working on themselves by being more responsible for
their actions and helping others in different ways for a better society. Some authors debate several
circumstances to encourage people to participate in each other s life for the good of everyone in
their community. Ericson is a screenwriter and an advertising copywriter. She... Show more content

Furthermore, they can be also responsible for the choices that they are making in life because they
may affect their body and create a door for a physical problem. Furthermore, people need to be
responsible for their intellectual growth as well. In order to be self sufficient, individuals need
to be prepared for life challenges. They can start by going to college to become well educated,
and receive a degree, find a job, and be able to take care of themselves without expecting
assistance from government, parents, or others. When people are able to keep the balance, they
will not be a charge or a problem to the public. Ericsson argues in her classification and division
essay We all put up facades to one degree or another (473). The author debates that people can
have different faces in life that may qualify them at an extent. The way they dress, behave socially
and personally. Therefore, if individuals are well maintained physically and intellectually that will
impact their life one way or another. By taking care of themselves, they make decisions in life that
will be greatly beneficial to them. Besides physical and intellectual appearances, they need to be
careful to avoid situations that may endanger their safety. They need to make good choices of
people and company that they keep places that they are visiting, and recognize the choices that will
benefit them in life.

Prostate Cancer and PSA Testing Essay
Introduction
Prostate Cancer (PCa) is the most common cancer affecting men and the second leading cause of
cancer death among American men (Qaseem, Denberg, Owens, Shekelle, 2013). Medical
professionals have been using prostate specific antigen (PSA) screenings along with digital rectal
exam (DRE) for many years to screen for prostate cancer. PSA was first identified in 1966 in semen,
followed by the identification of PSA in blood in 1979. The PSA test has been approved for use
since 1994 to detect early prostate cancer. Most men that are greater than 50 years of age in the
U.S. have had PSA screening, and many have been tested repeatedly. DRE is performed to
determine prostate location, size, and the presence of nodules. Despite ... Show more content on

A grade D recommendation means that the USPSTF concluded there is at least moderate
certainty that the harms of doing the intervention equal or outweigh the benefits in the target
population. This recommendation also advises against a DRE because the risk of mortality and
morbidity outweigh survival benefit as results revealed the risk of dying of screening is greater
than prior to screening. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF, 2012) now advises
against PSA based screening tests for men of all ages of the risks of over diagnosis and treatment,
which have resulted in many adverse effects, serious complications, and even death.
The purpose of this paper is to reflect on pros and cons of PSA testing, and to review current
guidelines from well respected authorities. The European Randomized Study of Screening for PCa
(ERSPC) showed a 20% reduction in PCa specific mortality (Moyer, 2012). However, the prostate
arm of the Prostate Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial in the United
States did not demonstrate a mortality reduction of men randomly screened by PSA testing (Moyer,
2012). In addition, PCa treatment has many serious or potentially life threatening adverse effects.
As a result, choosing an optimal treatment for localized PCa is difficult and controversial.

PCa etiology is unknown. However studies have shown a relationship between high dietary fat

Decision to Move into an International Market
Terms and Definitions Upon a company making the decision to move into an international market
there are many economic terms, definitions and laws that are to be researched and understood.
While there are lots of terms and definitions, five of these terms include: multinational
corporations, economies of scale, imports and exports as part of GDP, foreign exchange market
and exchange rates and marginal rate of transformation. Each definition will be researched and
defined below and their importance to a company going global will be discussed.
Multinational Corporations
A multinational corporation or a MNC can be defined as a company operating in at least one
other country besides its home country. A MNC can be a closed system, in which it produces
within said country and sells to that country only. Most MNC s, though, are open systems in which
they produce in one country and sell to another. MNC s are driven by the law of supply and demand
. Supply and demand affect open systems differently as labor is in one country and the selling of
products in another and the cycle of products is on a much larger scale. A company looking to
become international, if incorporated, will become a multinational corporation.
II. Economies of Scale A. Factors that cause the cost of producing something to fall as the scale
of its output increases are known as economies of scale. An example is it might cost $5000 to
produce 200 copies of a book but only $6000 to produce

Benjamin Franklin and His Contribution to the American...
Benjamin Franklin was one of the most influential men of the eighteenth century. He was the only
man to sign all of these four major documents: the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of
Alliance with France, the Constitution of the United States, and the Treaty of Peace with Great
Britain. Franklin was an inventor, a philosopher, a writer, a musician, and he actively participated in
many congressional articles used by the government of the United Statesof America. His tombstone,
however, simply referred to him as printer , reflecting his great humility. One of the things he was
most influential in was the separation of the American colonies from British rule. In fact, Benjamin
Franklinwas vital to the success of the American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Franklin realized that this was mostly a declaration of independence from England,
which hadn t gained enough support amongst the Americans for Benjamin to force a vote. So, it
can be concluded, Franklin was very much ahead of his time in writing the Articles as America
now uses the proportional representation system when electing officials and Congress
eventually wrote a declaration against British rule anyway. Franklin would often go on missions
for Congress. The first trip was to Cambridge in October 1775. His second mission was to
Canada in March 1776. Throughout the second trip, Franklin became severely ill and, upon his
return home, he was bedridden for months. While Franklin was still lying sick in his bed, he was
appointed as chairman of a committee whose purpose was to draft a declaration of America s
independence. The committee also included Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Robert Livingston,
and Roger Sherman. Jefferson composed the core of the document. When he had finished his first
draft, he asked Franklin to make any alterations that he felt necessary. Franklin made a few
changes, such as We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable to We hold these truths to be
self evident . On July 2, the Continental Congress voted for independence. The declaration was
passed two days later on July 4. A month later on August 2, the official signing took place. John

Introduction
12 Angry Men , the movie that is revolved around the trial of the murder case, has different
characters from different backgrounds as the jurors. In this report, the communication styles of
those people are going to be discussed. They are examined based on their behaviours, languages or
gestures.
Juror #1
Among all the Jurors, juror #1 excels at listening skill the most. Seeing his attitude towards
communication, he seems to try to be open to others without biases. This can be seen when he ...

As it is pointed out by juror #8 in the end, his perception regarding father and son is dictated by the
experience in the intense relationship between him and his son and it hinders him to see the
defendant and the victim from the objective perspective. The fact that the victim is the defendant s
father strengthens his perception preventing him from listening to others. It even brings him a fear
as if it meant that he is beaten by his own son. Also, his short temper sometimes causes him to
throw harsh comments at recipients before thinking over and it puts him in the serious position in
the communication which is irreversible. He might think he can correct others opinions that are
opposed to him by showing his anger as he might do at work as a boss of more than 30 employees.
Nonetheless, those habits of his keep him from the healthy communication and he fails to convince
the other jurors losing his allies.
Juror #4
Juror #4 is very aware of how communication works and how he can be more persuasive as a
sender. He can handle the tones, body language and time in his speech in the most effective way
to convey his message. His well tailored suits are credited to elevate his credibility too. As well as
making use of his speech skill, He eliminates slangs and slurs that could fail the communication he
is involved and carefully selects the words to say not to offend the audience. It is observed when he
talks about the defendant s terrible background. Building up the

Political Sociology Reading List And Rationale
Political Sociology Reading List and Rationale
The purpose of this comprehensive exam is to give me an opportunity to demonstrate mastery over
relevant debates, theories, and empirical findings in the major issues of political sociology. I will
also examine theoretical and empirical approaches to classic and contemporary fundamental
questions of political sociology. My primary goal here is to learn how to think critically like a
political sociologist and be able to understand and use the major concepts, frameworks and
representatives of political sociology for my doctoral project. Political sociology is a very broad
and multi dimensional discipline. Thus, to examine the mentioned issues, I will primarily look at
the various cases and hot debates around the intersection of Islam and politics in the modern world.
I organized my reading list at five parts that match the scope of my doctoral research as well as
expanding my expertise within political sociology. My subfields consist of (1) the overview of
political sociology, (2) Islam and Muslim politics, (3) Islam and modernity debates (4) multiple
modernities, and (5) religion and immigration: Islam and Muslim in the western societies. These
subsections will be particularly useful for me because my research project is developing within
political sociology, Islam and politics and multiple modernity perspectives.
The section of overview of political sociology will provide me to become familiar with and capable

Miss Brill Illusion Vs Reality
The mind creates a world of illusion, by changing our thoughts; we change the illusion, and
experience a different reality. If we say that a real thing is something that always exists, with no
gaps, then the outside world is not real. Katherine Mansfield captures the theme of illusion vs.
reality in her short storyMiss Brill the main character Miss Brill is fascinated with the surprise of
having an almond in her honey cake. The almond symbolizes how Miss Brill sees herself in
society as the honey cake represents the people. The way Miss Brill tries to fit in, the loneliness
she endures and analyzing the ending of the story shows how her imagination has taken the best of
her.

In her fantasy world Miss Brill enjoys a feeling of superiority (Parquette, 1952) as her illusions
takes the best of her as she believes she is a actress and that everyone around her is in this play.
These flat statements leave little doubt that for the spinster the drama of the park is a fact. She feels
that all the strangers, herself included, will sing harmoniously, and that through...from reality
(Thorpe, 1962). With herself being the almond and those around her being the honey cake, the
emotion she feels when going to the bakery and noticing an almond in her honey cake means that
she believes she is suited for the role of those at the park. Although in reality she is a lonely
English teacher, she puts her profession and her emotions aside to live up to the lavish upscale life
of those surrounding her.
Miss Brill doesn t see herself as being lonely; she merely just wants to be apart of something that
can bring an adventure. The illusions she makes are caused by feeling alienated to the world,
throughout the story she is mostly just watching people instead of interacting with them. This can
be her way of probably feeling sad when she doesn t see an almond in her honey cake, as she is
disconnected to the people around her. Her weekly routine is to shadow her true feelings within

Self-Sacrifice In A Short Story
Self sacrifice is not an easy term to use, neither to take action for, nor a relationship to
understand. To do something as easy as writing a letter to a friend whom has been sick for a
while, by sacrificing your time, or it could be as hard as using your life to protect someone that
is dear to you.It does not have to be the situation you are in or the problem you are facing, it
could be a friend or someone close to, and you do want to save that individual, at this right point
you have to make a decision which is you sacrificesomething you have or even you, or turn
around as nothing had happened in this world, while you chose the first choice you should know
what is your capacity and the amount of lost you are doing. In the short story Julia decided to
lose her leg for the baby and Lilly, mother carrying her child on her arms taking steps not caring
who is behind and that was what she decided to do.
The situation was not easy to handle Julia had suffered, and tried to fight for justice, and what
she saw was right thing to do, and take action for, she did not care if she lost her leg for helping

Milpa Agriculture Research Paper
Mayan civilization underwent massive developments in agriculture and within their society.
According to historian Sylvanus Griswold Morley, Maya Maize agricultural practices have
remained the same as they were over three thousand years ago. (Morley 128) A uncomplicated

Maya milpa agriculture can be separated into eleven different stages: locating the field, the
selection of a plot of ground for the cornfield is a crucial step. The milpero, or corn farmer,

time and energy. (Morley 131) Burning the dried bushes, the felled bush would normally be

Work related stress develops because a person is unable to cope with the demands being placed
on them. Stress, including work related stress, can be a significant cause of illness and is
known to be linked with high levels of sickness absence, staff turnover and other issues such as
more errors. There is a difference between pressure and stress. Pressure can be positive and a
motivating factor, and is often essential in a job. It can help us achieve our goals and perform
better. Stress occurs when this pressure becomes excessive. A person experiences stress when
they perceive that the demands of their work are greater than their ability to cope. Coping
means balancing the demands and pressures placed on you (i.e. the job requirements) with your
skills and knowledge (i.e. your capabilities). For example, if you give a member of your team a
tight deadline on a project they feel they have neither the skills nor ability to do well, they may
begin to feel undue pressure which could result in work related stress. Stress can also result
from having too few demands, as people will become bored, feel undervalued and lack
recognition. If they feel they have little or no say over the work they do or how they do it, this
may cause them stress. Stress affects people in different ways and what one person finds stressful
can be normal to another. With each new situation a person will decide what

Peace Like a River Essay
Life can be viewed as a battle field, a constant fight between good and evil. In Leif Enger s Peace
Like a River, this scenario was well depicted. In the novel, there was a constant fight taking place
between the good and evil characters, and though based around family, love, and brotherhood, the
novelmainly focused on the conflict between these characters.
This student felt that it was fair to classify the Lands along with Roxanna Cowley, The Shultzs and
Dr. Nokes as the good characters. This was a fair classification as these characters maintained their
positive personas throughout the novel. On the other hand, Superintendent Holgren, Israel Finch,

Davy felt that once he destroyed evil, everything would be settled and that his family could go on
like normal, but Davy had turned into a wanted individual; his family was left to battle even more
evil. Jeremiah had been working at Rueben and Swedes school as a janitor. After the two murders
Superintendent Holgren began to treat Jeremiah differently, as he allowed his opinion to determine
whether or not Jeremiah deserved the job. Holgren made work even more difficult and disagreed
with everything that Jeremiah did. Jeremiah, being the calm person that he was, never retaliated
with negative words. He allowed Holgren to mistreat him, even in front of the staff and students in
the school. Holgren finally resorted to firing Jeremiah in front of everyone, but Jeremiah simply
touched his face and walked away. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men
to do nothing (Budha).
Jeremiah did nothing but simply left things in God s hands. He allowed Holgren to make a fool out

Literary Analysis Essay On The Secret Life Of Bees
A Feminist Perspective on The Secret Life of Bees
I m tired of carrying around the weight of the world. I m just going to lay it down now. It s my
time to die, and it s your time to live. Don t mess it up (210). Feminist theory is an extension of
feminism in which literary pieces are examined to understand the nature of gender inequality and
social norms. Sue Monk Kidd s The Secret Life of Bees examined through a feminist lens
demonstrates the patriarchy found in Owens household, shows the advantages of all female
community, distinguish that mothers play a major factor in any young female s life, and the variety
of roles women take on in the community.

A beekeeper is a person who keeps and raises honey bees to harvest the honey for product to sell.
Traditionally, beekeepers tend to be men for the consequences that come with the practice such
as consist stings and the messy job of collecting and purifying the honey. But, in the novel,
August is portrayed as the best beekeeper around. Nobody around here had ever seen a lady
beekeeper till her. She liked to tell everybody that women made the best beekeepers, cause they
have a special ability built into them to love creatures that sting. It comes from years of loving
children and husbands (80). She takes on the career of a man and becomes distinguished from
the rest because of her excellence in her career. The Boatwright s believed that women made the

August not only practices the art of beekeeping, she also is the head preacher, a minister of sorts,

bring a sense of empowerment to Lily as she grows older. Lily, on the other hand, is taught to be

Introducing The Internal Rate Of Return
INTRODUCING THE INTERNAL RATE OF RETURN (IRR)
The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is that discount rate providing a net value of zero for a future
series of cash flows. The IRR and Net Present Value (NPV) are used to decide between investments
to select what investment should provide the most returns. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NPV
AND IRR
The main difference is that the Net Present Valueor Net Present Value (NPV) is used as actual
amounts, while the IRR is the interest yield as a percentage expected from an investment.
When using the IRR, one generally selects the projects whose IRR is greater than the cost of
capital. However, selecting the Internal Rate of Return as opposed to the Net Present Value means
that if investors focus on maximizing IRR instead of NPV, there is a risk in picking a company
with a return on investment bigger than the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) but less
than the present return on existing assets.
IRR represent the actual annual return investment only when the project generates 0 interim cash
flows or if those investments can be invested at the current IRR.
So the goal should not be to maximize the Net Present Value (NPV).
However, this article aims to present the limitations and benefits of using the Internal Rate of
Return (IRR).
Net Present Value (NPV)
The net present value of a project depends very closely the discount rate used. So when it comes
time to compare two projects, the choice of discount rate, which is often based on

The Negative Effects Of Rap Music
Rap music has received a bad reputation because of the negative connotation often associated
with the genre. However, no one is addressing the issue that there are not more artists that
promote a positive message in the music industry. If there were, perhaps more people would
come to understand and appreciate the genre for what it is. Some scholars that are opposed to
rap music often overlook the positive aspects of rap, focusing on the negative aspects of the
genre. On the contrary, those who do support rap focus their research on the way it benefits
youth not the absence of positive message rappers. Many scholars have found that rap music can
be beneficial to young people; especially if there are artists who promote positivity. Listening can
benefit youth by allowing them to express themselves, being therapeutic, and bringing
communities together. Rap music is a part of a culture that regularly gets cast in a negative light,
but this does not tell the whole story. Rap music needs to be a more respected art form outside
the African American community, and record labels can assist with this task by signing artists
who represent the positive side of rap. Introduction Rap music originated from African oral
tradition where tribe members used spoken word to address feelings and pass on knowledge from
generation to generation. This spoken word told stories and taught lessons in a way that sent a
message, but also brought people together. Due to this origin, rap is a

money and class in america Essay example
In the book Money and Class in America written by Lewis Lapham, the way Americans look at
money is exposed. It compares other nations view on monetary value against that of the
Americans. It is a fact that we place more value on money than anything else. This book illustrates
the corruptness of the American Dream as it focuses money as the currency of the soul and
through the dream, men remain free to rise or fall. Their life is the product of the effort and the
decisions put forth by them. To start off, money in the U.S. is perceived as the currency of the
soul. It makes the world go round. Lapham writes, They had been so deflected by the pursuit of
money that they could turn in no other direction. . In my opinion, Americans... Show more content

original dream, all the hard work you had to put forth to achieve your goal was like a lesson
learned. However, in our century s corrupted dream, all the struggles are worth it as long as you
make it to the riches and the high standards of life. The whole act itself revolves completely out of
money. It is more important to showcase items and mount them on walls then to show intelligence,
faith and families. It is sad to say, but in our American Dream, the corrupted one that is, greenbacks
are worth more than one s honor. Other nations look upon the American devotion as sterile cupidity
and insanity. In The Great Gatsby, Gatsby, Daisy and Tom are an excellent example of the
importance of being wealthy. Lapham expresses his opinion on Americans as Philistinism.
Americans base their success on property and luxuries. Without that, they are not truly happy or

Dust Bowl Refugees In The 1930 s
The 1930 s were a time of tragedy for Midwestern people who lived in the United States,
especially farmers in the Great Plains region. During this time crops perished and winds picked
up causing a massive dust storm to begin. In the course of this catastrophe at least 350,000 Okies
loaded their belongings into cars and trucks and headed to California (Henretta, Hinderaker,
Edwards, and Self 688). Californians were opposed to the arrival of these dust bowlrefugees
because they were competition for California s already limited job market, the refugees were

These dust bowl refugees thought that California could be their salvation and a lot of them
weren t disappointed because the state distributed millions of dollars worth of relief supplies to
dust bowl refugees, ( Kern Will Probe 6) throughout the 1930 s. However, even with these
federal relief programs a numerous amount of these refugees still weren t wealthy by any means
and were at a very low point in their lives looking for any opportunity to stay alive. This alarming
reality lead many of these refugees to commit crimes for money or just to end up in prison
where they would be fed and sheltered. In San Quentin California alone the states of Arkansas,
Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas contributed 882 prisoners, ( Dust Bowl Folks 2) to their state
prison in 3 years. Those refugees accounted for 18 percent of San Quentin State Prison s total
inmate population. In short, this not only put California in a social slump but also an economic
crisis. Thus causing many Californians to be aggravated with the reality that thousands of these
people were coming to live in their home state. Not only were these refugees coming to their
state and committing crime, the state of California and the tax payers were now the ones
responsible for feeding and sheltering these criminals. Most importantly, this responsibility wasn
t cheap, the average cost per year of a prisoner in San Quentin is $215, making a total of
$190,512, ( Dust Bowl Folks 2) according to the Healdsburg Tribune in 1939. Sadly, even those
who didn t resort to crime and came to California with the best of intentions often only caused
problems for Californians. Employment groups and local businesses often had to halt employee
hiring. They wanted to try to make sure that Californian citizens were the ones getting the jobs over
the refugees. However, with the magnitude of people trying to get jobs and the fact that these

declared on Table 3 of the 1997 publication by R.G. Munro, which is attached to this message.
For room temperature the value 1.1 and for 500В°C the value 4.4 is given. I noticed that for all
other experimental CTEs as well as theoretical assumptions, I am using CTE values that are
averaged between room temperature and elevated temperatures. Therefore, it makes sense to me to

every minute. The hands are always either in an obtuse or acute angle. Wresting uses angles and if

that many are figuring out all the cool, unique benefits of one s neighborhood, one has been

Abstract
The coach client relationship is the heart of all life coaching processes. Whether it involves
executive coaching, leadership, marriage or financial coaching without a client to serve, a coach
cannot fulfill his or her purpose. Hence, knowing how to effectively build relationships with people
is fundamental to being a successful life coach. This research paper will explore the dynamics of
the coaching relationship as it relates to factors, such as commonalities and compatibilities, which

Boyce et al (2010) states, the similarity attraction hypothesis maintains that similarity is a major
source of attraction between individuals and that a variety of physical, social, and status traits
can be used as the basis for inferring similarity in attitudes and beliefs (p. 916). Compatibility
refers to the appropriate combination of client and coach behavior preferences or the
characteristics the client and coach possess that influence their cognitions and behaviors in
various situations (Boyce et al, 2010, p. 916). It is believed that coaches who are matched with
clients based on their styles of behavior and similar personalities are more likely to have a
healthier relationship (Boyce et al, 2010). Then again, if a mismatched coaching relationship
continues to exist the coach may be able to challenge the client s perspectives, which can result in
higher performance outcomes (Boyce et al, 2010).
Credibility is another important factor when matching coaches and clients. Boyce, Jackson and
Neal (2010) state that, credibility refers to a coach possessing the necessary credentials to meet
client needs and include coaching competence and experience (p. 917). Not only does credibility
involve the coach s competence and experience, but their ability to hold true to their word. Clients
expect coaches to follow through on their word. With time, this ultimately forms the client s

The World Of The Middle East
Pilgrimage is no more! For hundreds, even thousands of years, pilgrims across the Middle East
have been undertaking immensely costly and onerous journeys to reach holy sites, such as:
Mecca, Medina, Damascus, among many others. Although, their reasons for the visit varied,
they all shared a common underlying importance to please God. This great tradition, which
brought millions of Muslims spiritual elevation and honor by obeying Allah, does not exist
anymore. Colonialism and modernity have taken their tolls on Islam, which left very little of its
purest form untainted. The industrial capitalist agenda of the west sped up technological
advancement, which subsequently warped the world into a smaller, more easily accessible
place. No longer did a pilgrim must rely solely on his own feet, or that of a camel s. While the
Middle East became a smaller place, new ethnic, religious, and geographic borders were raised
that, ever so rapidly generate logistical, religious, as well as, ethical issues which Islam must
continually contend with. So, has true pilgrimage really been destroyed and simply replaced with
a purely commercialized shell? Despite some of the arising negative aspects and challenges, I
argue that spiritual pilgrimage persists to this day; it has merely adapted to the world s increasing
volatility. Before attempting to presenting the basis for my argument, it is important to loosely lay
out what a pilgrimage to a holy site such as Meccameans and what it entails.

Conflict Theory And Social Reform
Abstract Chapter 4, Value Conflict, discusses how American sociologists in the early stages of
Sociology briefly overlooked the conflict perspective because social reform was more popular.
Then the conflict theory became more significant when a link was found in conflict theory and

conflict perspective is a combination of European and American Sociologist theories of conflict that

But this dream was not often realized and gained which caused conflict and social problems
because many would result in crimes and violence. The framework for value conflict was
created by Richard C. Fuller and Richard Meyers. They two stated in publications, that all of
social problems with values have a conflict because everyone s values are not the same. This
creates a conflict of interests and there are (3) three stages of the mix of the two: 1.Awareness
2.Policy Determination 3.Reform Fuller and Myers wrote their papers during the Great
Depression and World War II, both equally rough times in American history which created
conflicts at home and abroad for people in general. The conflict theory opposed the notion of
disorganization because what is wrong with individuals expressing how they feel about a subject
that a different group agrees with. Just because two groups have different opinions is not
disorganization in the view of the conflict theorists. This caused critics to suggest that competing
sociologists were not following the guidelines to be value free. This led to the formulation of value
conflict perspective to include the notion that sociologists should concern themselves with society
rather than scientific appearances. Characteristics of the value of Conflict Perspective The
characteristics of the Value Conflict as a perspective are even more clearly laid out than social

Pros And Cons Of Alexander Hamilton Vs. Aaron Hamilton
In many U.S. history classes all over the country, the Alexander Hamilton Vs. Aaron Burr duel is
taught with little detail. Hamilton is a founding father, Burr is the Vice President, they challenge
each other to a duel and Hamilton dies. However there is much more to the story as Hamilton
consciously made the decision to throw away his shot and give Burr all of the power. This may not
be the kind of decision that most people would make in this situation, but for Hamilton it was
necessary. Alexander Hamiltonhad been through a great deal of hardships in his life. In the
beginning his childhood was dark and filled with death, he tainted his love life and career with an
affair, he gave his son fatal advice, and by speaking what he thought to be true he landed himself a
spot in the duel against Burr. Within all of these aspects, Hamilton found himself helpless and no
matter what he tried, he could not seem to fix the situation. Perhaps Hamilton decided to lay his
fate in the hands of someone else for once because he never truly felt in control. When it comes to
Alexander Hamilton s early life, it is no surprise that he spoke very little of his upbringings.
Hamilton himself said, My birth is the subject of the most humiliating criticism . This comment is
in part due to the fact that his mother, Rachel, was considered a prostitute for leaving her husband
and becoming pregnant with an illegitimate child Alexander. This seemed to have doomed

jayanthikb@gmail.com ABSTRACT: According to the report given by World Health
Organization, by 2015 almost 20 million people will die from cardiovascular diseases (CVD).
People in low and middle income countries who suffer from CVDs and other noncommunicable
diseases have less access to effective and equitable health care services which respond to their
needs. The main objective of this work is to develop a classifier for the diagnosis of abnormal
Common Carotid Arteries (CCA). This paper proposes a new approach for the transform domain
analysis of longitudinal B mode ultrasound CCA images using Multiwavelets. Analysis is done
using HM and GHM multiwavelets at various levels of decomposition. Multiwavelet preserves
high frequency information in image and provides good energy compaction efficiency. Energy
values of the coefficients of approximation, horizontal, vertical and diagonal details are calculated
and plotted for different levels. Plots of energy values show high correlation with the
abnormalities of CCA and offer the possibility of improved diagnosis of CVD. It is clear that the
energy values can be used as an index of individual

The Predators And Prey Species
Abstract:
It is important to know information about the predators and prey species in an ecosystem. The
focus of predator management is to minimize predation using nonlethal and lethal methods.
Carnivores are vital for biological systems. Removing predators that eat the prey will cause a
decline in the plants biomass. Problems with predation can be heavily influences by humans.
Impacts on predators or prey can be from global warming, habitat loss, War, etc. Adult
porcupines are one of the many species that are affected by global warming. Any prey species
that molts to white pelage early in the winter due to global warming may expose themselves to
predators easier because, if there is a heat spell, white fur will not be effective camouflage with
loss of the snow. Other contributors for the decline of prey can be from drought which could
dampen the amount of available resources or from interspecific completion for a common resource.
There are some ethic and non ethic methods used for managing predators. Both methods can be
used but, are better at different scenarios. Using lethal methods is controversial because it can
conflict with public opinions, laws and regulations, animal rights, etc. Predator management is
costly depending on the action taken. Economic loss in agricultural livestock from predators is one
of the main conflicts that is dealt with to manage predators.
Introduction:
Predator control has probably been used from ancient times ever since we began the

The Sixties Between The Microgrooves Essay

American History II
17 March 2017
Research Paper Since the Constitution of the United States was written, Americans have practiced
their right to freedom of speech as a way to express their point of view on issues facing the
country. Over time, voicing one s opinion went from outspoken newspaper articles to large rallies,
and during the Vietnam War, music was a prevalent tool in aiding the protests. Allowing political
messages to be shared nationally, the music had touched the lives of the younger generation.
Author Jerome L. Rodnitzky explains in his journal, The Sixties between the Microgrooves: Using

Initially, wars involving the United States were typically well supported by the people, but the
abhorrence towards the military s actions in Vietnam lead musical artists to stand in opposition to
the war, encouraging the anti war movement.
As the war persisted, not everyone s voice was being heard. To quickly spread the message to a
wider demographic, American musical artists incorporated political beliefs into their music. For
example, Jimi Hendrix wrote songs such as Machine Gun to show his disdain towards the war,
but the biggest statement he made was his performance at Woodstock. Creating his own
interpretation of The Star Spangled Banner , Hendrix would always be remembered as taking a
stand against the political leaders in charge of the United State s involvement in Vietnam. The
effect Hendrix created is captured by author Desmond Manderson as he explains the performance
had interrogated the memory and ideals of the United States ... explicitly contrasting old with new,
patriotism with violence, and victimhood with aggression (315). Also, the rock group The Doors
contributed to the movement by writing the song Unknown Soldier , which depicts the real tragedy
of a soldier s fate. One of the most

for people to see. The related tasks undertaken by the Business to Business or B2B marketing
research agencies include, compilation of formats collecting information requested by the business
clients and co ordination of a variety of data collection vehicles. After all the necessary data is
collected and compiled, a detailed report is prepared with the information. The report is submitted
to the business client along with the conclusions and recommended actions. The company then
takes it from there and works on a suitable strategy.
Market research firms usually collect the required information through a market survey. The
parameters and areas of research are usually, defined by the customers. The business may be

The Black Power Movement Of African Americans
Social Movement Today, there are many movements that are going on due to unfair ways of
oppression. Oppression can be defined as tyranny by a ruling group to the injustice some suffer
due to everyday practices of a society (CampГіn and Carter 2015: 497). I chose to write about the
Black Power Movement because of the recent cases of oppression that have been occurring in the
United Statesof America. Oppression can happen to people of all races, ethnicities, and sexual
orientations. The black power movement cannot be placed into a box of confinement, it much more
that one movement. Since the 1960s there have been many things like small protests and
movements that have contributed to the black power movement over time. There have been... Show

Black power was said to have echoed throughout American as a cry for liberation, pride of culture,
and radical solidarity. There has always been a constant struggle for economic equality. Many
people saw the movement as an angry outcry due to little progress that had been made to achieving
civil rights. Also, the article stated that instead of helping the civil rights movement, it corrupted
the younger generation of Black activist and it reinforced segregation. It was also said to be the
civil rights movement s evil twin. Black people did not have a voice that they could speak out
about injustice. The oppression of Black people was very common in the southern states. Black
people were not the dominant group of people. White people were the dominant group and Black
people were the subordinate group. Black people had to do what they were told by the White
people, for they were in total control of how society functioned. Lynching of Black people, police
brutality and unpredictable danger occurred just because the color of their skin, anyone of color

time that the black power movement started. The civil rights movement had a more peaceful
approach. Both of the movements pushed for equality and to end oppression but the black power

The Good Side And Bad Side Of Personality
If there is one thing you should know about me it s that I have two sides to my personality. I
have a good side and a bad side. My good side is me being lazy, happy, bright, emotional,
comforting, loving, strong, and reliable. My bad side is when I am aggressive yet shy, dark,
mysterious, sad, bland, and distant. Most of the time I am very outgoing but sometimes I can
be a little rude or just quiet. When I am having a good day people think of my personality as a
cat. They think of me like this because when something doesn t interest me I zone out. I find
myself lazy because I don t do my chores and I also do things at the last minute. Even though I
can be very lazy I can also be playful. When it is nice outside I like to skate, walk around, or just
sit outside. So in other words even though I can be lazy and I have a low attention span, if
something catches my attention I can interact more. When I m having a bad day I like to think of
myself as a penguin because I am aggressive yet shy. If I am in a bad mood the smallest things can

argue with. I love to see nature and how it evolves. I like to look at all the leaves during fall

The other side of me has a different element. That element is fire. I used fire because I am a very
confident person but when my buttons are pushed I can explode. I also have this attitude that I
can do anything and I feel powerful. In this case, my bad element being fire is also a good element

Descriptive Essay About A Boat
I almost stepped foot into what I thought to be my watery grave, but I hesitated as my foot broke
the surface of the water. I thought back to the boat ride out here and my feelings of uneasiness
as we rode the waves. The small boat contained six rows of benches for the tourists to sit at the
front of the boat. Directly behind the last row, a captain s station sat with the controls to steer
the boat. Behind the control room, or the back of the boat, sat one long bench. A metal railing
encircled the entire boat, except for a small portion at the back. Resting below the open area,
hooked to the side of the boat, sat a three rung ladder. I still tasted the wintergreen lifesaver I
enjoyed on the car ride over here. The boat took us three miles off the north shore of Oahu, I
couldn t help but admire the beauty of this paradise. Looking at the green mountains, lined with
thick and healthy trees thanks to all the rain, and the exquisite white beaches, calmed me and
helped me forget the anxiety that overcame me. The cold, early morning ocean breeze pulled my
hair back, but no goosebumps graced my skin thanks to the warm sun shining down on us. My
fellow boat passengers all seemed to appear calm while we rode on this death trap that closed the
distance between us and the cage. My idea of fun consisted of reading a book or watching a movie
with family and friends, not jumping into a cagesurrounded by sharks. Adventure and risks are not
a part of my life. The boat s captains included five men. Each man had a beard and browned skin
from all their time in the sun. Sunglasses rested on each of their eyes, shielding them from the
bright, hot sun. The boat engines loud roar came to a stop, only the waves crashing against the
boat made a sound. The oldest of the five men spoke first. He lifted a crooked, dark finger and held
it over the left side of the boat and exclaimed in a gruff voice, The cage is over there and you will
need to swim in 15 yards of free water to get to it. If the sharks come at you just hit their nose.
Looks of terror graced every traveler s face. The looks didn t fade until another one of the boat s
crew spoke up telling us that the older man played that joke on every tour group. I studied the man

Theme Of Friendship In The Killer Angels
The Killer Angels displays many of the important themes that occurred during the Battle of
Gettysburg, some of which including bravery, leadership, and, most of all, friendship. This
theme of friendship is represented in many of the characters of this book, and some of these
friendships were divided by ranks and, in the case of Armistead and Hancock, by countries. But
even with the fighting, true friendship is able to come out of the mess. Two pairs of men that
show this friendship are Chamberlain and Kilrain along with Lee and Longstreet. Chamberlain
and Kilrain are a perfect example of friendship in the war because, even though they were
separated by age and rank, they both looked out for each other and looked for each other s side of

You could compare their friendship to that of comrades in school who would share information
with each other. However, these two argued multiple times in the book, which affected not only
their lives in the book but the lives of many soldiers. They argued because of their many different
view: Longstreet wanted to take a defensive approach while Lee wanted to go on the offensive
and Longstreet wanted to court martial Stuart while Lee did not want to (pg. 189; Would you do
it? Court martial Stuart? Yes, I would. Seriously? Or are you just talking? Longstreet though a
moment. Lee wouldn t. Lee won t. ). While these differing views did help each other to come to
agreements, their arguments, especially the one on the third day about Lee s strategy, do not
really get anywhere because of Lee s stubbornness (pg. 286; General, Longstreet said slowly, it is
my considered opinion that a frontal assault here would be a disaster. Lee turned, frowned, the
dark eyes flared for a moment. ). Even if they argued a lot, that did not ruin their friendship.
Longstreet was not like many of the soldiers who looked at Lee like God on earth; he saw him as
the old man that he really was. With this, Longstreet worried a lot about him because he knew he

Phineas Gage Dualism
In the discussion of the human mind and how it actually works, there are a few distinct
philosophical concepts that many believe to be an accurate diagnosis. Three of these views are
Dualism, Physicalism, and Functionalism. They each portray a different view on how the mind
functions in some cases physically or even mentally and separate from the actual human brain.
perfect way to exam these approaches is to take an in depth look at the interesting case of
Phineas Gage. Gage, born in 1823, was a railroad construction worker in the northeastern region
of the United States. On September 13th in 1848, Gage was working on a railroad project in the
state of Vermont and was filling a whole with explosive gunpowder and was packing the power in

These three Body Mind views present possible ways to examine the accident that Phineas Gage
suffered an entire change in personality from. Physicalism presents the best argument for
explaining the Gage case. If everything is physical it is certainly logical for the personality and
thought processes of a human to change after enduring an entirely physical injury. Physicalism
suggests that everything about human beings can be explained just by looking at the pure
physical processes of the body and specifically the brain, so clearly it presents a sound argument
for why Gage endured such a drastic change in who he actually was. Gage according to dualism
may have had the same mind, but according the physicalism certainly did not have the same brain
and therefore, to quote his coworkers, was no longer

Film Analysis Of Robert Altman s Gosford Park
Set in the 1930s, near the end of the era of domestic service in the U.K, Robert Altman s Gosford
Park through its film design and its usage of heritages spaces and period details examines the
separate worlds upstairs and downstairs of rich society people and their servants at a country
mansion.
Sir William McCordle is a wealthy industrialist turned aristocrat, with a magnificent country state
named Gosford Park in the English countryside, complete with staff. It is a world where
everything runs in order both amongst the bejeweled guests lunching and dining at their
considerable leisure and in the attic bedrooms and stark work stations where the servant s labor for
the comfort of their employers. Whether they like it or not, everyone knows their place. But all is
not as it seems. Part comedy of manners and part mystery, the film is a moving portrait of events
that bridge generations, class, sex, tragic personal history and culminate in a murder.
Ultimately revealing the intricate relations of the above and below stairs worlds with great
clarity, Gosford Park illuminates a society and way of life quickly coming to an end as it is a time
when World War II has not yet started, but the status quo has begun to shift away from the strict
social structure so integral to England for hundreds of years.
There are various elements in the movie which portray Britishness and establish class differences.
In setting the film at a historic country house, the film does

The Importance Of College Experience In College
Entering college and embarking on a new journey, everyone desires to have an ideal experience.
This desire is driven by what they see on television and in the movies. In college , everyone

college experience differs for commuters and students who dorm on campus in the way their

While living on campus the student who dorm is responsible for their own well being. Some
freshmen from the ages (17 19) , transitioning from High school to collegeare accustomed to relying
on their parents a lot. Some freshmen rely heavily too much on their parents that they never
learn how to do their laundry. (Sharon Jones) My parents always did my laundry for me. Are
you suppose to put the whites with the colors . Living on campus, no one is there to remind you
of your responsibilities like constantly being told to clean your or take care of you while you re

  • 4. Music Concert Report Danisha Narvaez Melusky Music 102 Concert Paper On Wednesday, November 30th at 7:30 p.m, I attended The Lebanon Valley College Chamber Orchestra and String Chamber Ensembles . It took place at the Lutz Hall. This hall is located at the Blair Music Center (LVC). It can fit up to 500 people. This time there was about 50 60 people. For this event, the hall was not decorated as I expected. It had a camera in the middle, recording the concert and that s about it. The stage was big, it fit the 26 members of the orchestra comfortably. Entering the hall, there was a guy with the programs on his hand. He was very sympathetic. He handed one (program) to everyone that came in. Inside the program, there was the performances the members were going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With a total of five performances. Johannes Dietrich was the conductor and he played in all of the performances. The first performance was Mc Mozart s Eine kleine bricht Moonlicht Nicht Musik by Teddy Bor. This performance lasted for about four minutes. It had a total of four members. Two girls and two boys. Two of them played the violin, one the viola and the other one the cello. Since this was the opening of the concert I thought they were going to play something longer. They also didn t have an intro, which surprised me a little bit. But the overall performance was great. It was very calm and relaxing and everyone seemed to enjoy it. There were four other performances. Five Sketches for string trio Op.23, Quintet in d minor, Concerto Grosso Op 3, No. 4 in F major and the last one was Symphony No. 104 in F Major (London). All of them were not that long. I noticed that on the last two performances they added more people. On the Concerto Grosso there was 15 members in total and on the Symphony there was 26. After each performance there was a break . On that break all they did was prep the stage for the others. Some of the things they did was, add/ remove chairs and music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Tourism Management Issues TOURISM MANAGEMENT ISSUES: DARK TOURISM Discuss the tourism management issues generated by the growth of dark tourism. Abstract: The aim of this research is to consider dark tourism and discuss what are the tourism management issues generated by the growth of this phenomenon. To clarify this concept, the report will also include a definition of dark tourism, a brief background of why this type of tourism is continuously increasing, and finally conclusions will be drawn. Keywords: culture management, visitor number management, safeguard, vandalism, conservation Introduction: Dark tourism has been defined as encompassing the visitation to any site associated with death, disaster and tragedy in the twentieth century for remembrance,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Auschwitz camp is a perfect example for this. It is in the process of continual erosion; the growth of vegetation and foliage coverage has to be managed and controlled. As Lennon and Foley (2004) further suggest, there should be management rather than restoration. This dark attraction has swelled visitor number and catalysed economic activity. A very important issue also identified is that of culture management. Tourist must be given a code of conduct and be educated to behave in a certain way when visiting particular sites as to conform and integrate with the local community to avoid conflict. Tourist themselves have, or should have, an obligation to observe codes of behaviour and be aware of cultural norms in the destination they are visiting (Howie, 2003). Some behaviour such as alcohol abuse, shouting, fighting should not be permitted as these might insult the local community and lack of respect needed in these tragedy sites. While at Auschwitz Birkenau, groups of schoolchildren were taking photographs of each other, parents were photographing their children at the gates of Birkenau and indeed, school parties were sitting on the ruins of the crematorium eating sandwiches(Lennon and Foley, 2004). Furthermore funds required to conserve sites will also be of consideration. The two options that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We are constantly trying to bring up children who will be happy and successful in life, i.e. avoiding raising children with low self esteem. But how is someone s self esteem created? Does level of self esteemequate to the level of interpersonal success a person will have in life? Having had experienced a wide spectrum of self esteem levels in both platonic and romantic relationships, these were questions I wished to answer. The goal of the article s research was to prove or disprove that high levels of ego identity and self esteem would be related to lower levels of interpersonal conflict, emotional exhaustion, and psychological strain. The researchers used 197 boys and girls, ranging in ages 14 to 18 years old, as their subjects. They were asked age, gender, number of hours they worked per week, then given separate questionnaires on each of the five variables under investigation. Data results showed that those with lower ego identity and self esteem tended to report higher levels of interpersonal conflict, emotional exhaustion, and psychological strain. • 7. Beowulf Is The Longest Epic Poem Beowulf is the longest epic poem written in Old English. The story centers around the exploits of Beowulf, a heroic warrior known for his strength and bravery. The theme of heroism is prevalent throughout the poem through the use of conflict between good and evil forces. Beowulf is often engaged in selfless conquests in the pursuit of saving others, resulting in his emergence as the hero of the story. The text, while focusing on the main theme of heroism, is divided into two main parts, Beowulfas a young warrior and Beowulf as an experienced ruler. Heroism presents itself as both a virtue and a flaw for Beowulf; although it allows him to become a celebrated warrior, it is also what leads to his downfall as a ruler. The poem opens by illustrating the importance of courage, the ultimate form of greatness to the Danes. So. The Spear Danes in days gone by and the kings who ruled them had courage and greatness. We have heard of those princes heroic campaigns. (lines 1 3) In warrior culture, heroism and bravery are celebrated above all else. All great kings of the past were known for their heroism. Before ever becoming king, young Beowulf is renowned as a great warrior for his immense strength and courage in battle. Beowulf while known for his mastery of combat also fulfills his social obligations. He demonstrates virtues such as proper mannerisms, loyalty, courtesy, and pride all of which are dictated by the Germanic heroic code. He often demonstrates these virtues as the ... Sometimes they are happy while they are doing what they like, or they are stressed of circumstances that arise in their life. They are always looking for ways to find the balance around them. As a result, they plan different strategies to help improve the quality of life, so they start working on themselves by being more responsible for their actions and helping others in different ways for a better society. Furthermore, they can be also responsible for the choices that they are making in life because they may affect their body and create a door for a physical problem. Furthermore, people need to be responsible for their intellectual growth as well. In order to be self sufficient, individuals need to be prepared for life challenges. They can start by going to college to become well educated, and receive a degree, find a job, and be able to take care of themselves without expecting assistance from government, parents, or others. When people are able to keep the balance, they will not be a charge or a problem to the public. Ericsson argues in her classification and division essay We all put up facades to one degree or another (473). The author debates that people can have different faces in life that may qualify them at an extent. The way they dress, behave socially and personally. Therefore, if individuals are well maintained physically and intellectually that will impact their life one way or another. By taking care of themselves, they make decisions in life that will be greatly beneficial to them. • 10. Prostate Cancer and PSA Testing Essay Introduction Prostate Cancer (PCa) is the most common cancer affecting men and the second leading cause of cancer death among American men (Qaseem, Denberg, Owens, Shekelle, 2013). Medical professionals have been using prostate specific antigen (PSA) screenings along with digital rectal exam (DRE) for many years to screen for prostate cancer. PSA was first identified in 1966 in semen, followed by the identification of PSA in blood in 1979. The PSA test has been approved for use since 1994 to detect early prostate cancer. Most men that are greater than 50 years of age in the U.S. have had PSA screening, and many have been tested repeatedly. DRE is performed to determine prostate location, size, and the presence of nodules. Despite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A grade D recommendation means that the USPSTF concluded there is at least moderate certainty that the harms of doing the intervention equal or outweigh the benefits in the target population. This recommendation also advises against a DRE because the risk of mortality and morbidity outweigh survival benefit as results revealed the risk of dying of screening is greater than prior to screening. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF, 2012) now advises against PSA based screening tests for men of all ages of the risks of over diagnosis and treatment, which have resulted in many adverse effects, serious complications, and even death. The purpose of this paper is to reflect on pros and cons of PSA testing, and to review current guidelines from well respected authorities. The European Randomized Study of Screening for PCa (ERSPC) showed a 20% reduction in PCa specific mortality (Moyer, 2012). However, the prostate arm of the Prostate Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial in the United States did not demonstrate a mortality reduction of men randomly screened by PSA testing (Moyer, 2012). In addition, PCa treatment has many serious or potentially life threatening adverse effects. As a result, choosing an optimal treatment for localized PCa is difficult and controversial. Body PCa etiology is unknown. However studies have shown a relationship between high dietary fat intake and increased testosterone levels (Prostate cancer, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Decision to Move into an International Market Terms and Definitions Upon a company making the decision to move into an international market there are many economic terms, definitions and laws that are to be researched and understood. While there are lots of terms and definitions, five of these terms include: multinational corporations, economies of scale, imports and exports as part of GDP, foreign exchange market and exchange rates and marginal rate of transformation. Each definition will be researched and defined below and their importance to a company going global will be discussed. Multinational Corporations A multinational corporation or a MNC can be defined as a company operating in at least one other country besides its home country. A MNC can be a closed system, in which it produces within said country and sells to that country only. Most MNC s, though, are open systems in which they produce in one country and sell to another. MNC s are driven by the law of supply and demand . Supply and demand affect open systems differently as labor is in one country and the selling of products in another and the cycle of products is on a much larger scale. A company looking to become international, if incorporated, will become a multinational corporation. II. Economies of Scale A. Factors that cause the cost of producing something to fall as the scale of its output increases are known as economies of scale. An example is it might cost $5000 to produce 200 copies of a book but only $6000 to produce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was the only man to sign all of these four major documents: the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Alliance with France, the Constitution of the United States, and the Treaty of Peace with Great Britain. Franklin was an inventor, a philosopher, a writer, a musician, and he actively participated in many congressional articles used by the government of the United Statesof America. However, Franklin realized that this was mostly a declaration of independence from England, which hadn t gained enough support amongst the Americans for Benjamin to force a vote. So, it can be concluded, Franklin was very much ahead of his time in writing the Articles as America now uses the proportional representation system when electing officials and Congress eventually wrote a declaration against British rule anyway. Franklin would often go on missions for Congress. The first trip was to Cambridge in October 1775. His second mission was to Canada in March 1776. Throughout the second trip, Franklin became severely ill and, upon his return home, he was bedridden for months. While Franklin was still lying sick in his bed, he was appointed as chairman of a committee whose purpose was to draft a declaration of America s independence. The committee also included Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman. Jefferson composed the core of the document. When he had finished his first draft, he asked Franklin to make any alterations that he felt necessary. Franklin made a few changes, such as We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable to We hold these truths to be self evident . On July 2, the Continental Congress voted for independence. Also, his short temper sometimes causes him to throw harsh comments at recipients before thinking over and it puts him in the serious position in the communication which is irreversible. • 15. Political Sociology Reading List And Rationale Political Sociology Reading List and Rationale The purpose of this comprehensive exam is to give me an opportunity to demonstrate mastery over relevant debates, theories, and empirical findings in the major issues of political sociology. I will also examine theoretical and empirical approaches to classic and contemporary fundamental questions of political sociology. My primary goal here is to learn how to think critically like a political sociologist and be able to understand and use the major concepts, frameworks and representatives of political sociology for my doctoral project. Political sociology is a very broad and multi dimensional discipline. Thus, to examine the mentioned issues, I will primarily look at the various cases and hot debates around the intersection of Islam and politics in the modern world. I organized my reading list at five parts that match the scope of my doctoral research as well as expanding my expertise within political sociology. My subfields consist of (1) the overview of political sociology, (2) Islam and Muslim politics, (3) Islam and modernity debates (4) multiple modernities, and (5) religion and immigration: Islam and Muslim in the western societies. These subsections will be particularly useful for me because my research project is developing within political sociology, Islam and politics and multiple modernity perspectives. The section of overview of political sociology will provide me to become familiar with and capable of engaging with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stress, including work related stress, can be a significant cause of illness and is known to be linked with high levels of sickness absence, staff turnover and other issues such as more errors. There is a difference between pressure and stress. Pressure can be positive and a motivating factor, and is often essential in a job. It can help us achieve our goals and perform better. Stress occurs when this pressure becomes excessive. A person experiences stress when they perceive that the demands of their work are greater than their ability to cope. Coping means balancing the demands and pressures placed on you (i.e. the job requirements) with your skills and knowledge (i.e. your capabilities). For example, if you give a member of your team a tight deadline on a project they feel they have neither the skills nor ability to do well, they may begin to feel undue pressure which could result in work related stress. Stress can also result from having too few demands, as people will become bored, feel undervalued and lack recognition. If they feel they have little or no say over the work they do or how they do it, this may cause them stress. Stress affects people in different ways and what one person finds stressful can be normal to another. With each new situation a person will decide what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Introducing The Internal Rate Of Return INTRODUCING THE INTERNAL RATE OF RETURN (IRR) The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is that discount rate providing a net value of zero for a future series of cash flows. The IRR and Net Present Value (NPV) are used to decide between investments to select what investment should provide the most returns. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NPV AND IRR The main difference is that the Net Present Valueor Net Present Value (NPV) is used as actual amounts, while the IRR is the interest yield as a percentage expected from an investment. When using the IRR, one generally selects the projects whose IRR is greater than the cost of capital. However, selecting the Internal Rate of Return as opposed to the Net Present Value means that if investors focus on maximizing IRR instead of NPV, there is a risk in picking a company with a return on investment bigger than the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) but less than the present return on existing assets. IRR represent the actual annual return investment only when the project generates 0 interim cash flows or if those investments can be invested at the current IRR. So the goal should not be to maximize the Net Present Value (NPV). However, this article aims to present the limitations and benefits of using the Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Some scholars that are opposed to rap music often overlook the positive aspects of rap, focusing on the negative aspects of the genre. On the contrary, those who do support rap focus their research on the way it benefits youth not the absence of positive message rappers. Many scholars have found that rap music can be beneficial to young people; especially if there are artists who promote positivity. He came from the countryside, living in a small village back home. Some disregard it as unscientific and implausible. No one is sure of the exact origin of this urban legend. Whether it involves executive coaching, leadership, marriage or financial coaching without a client to serve, a coach cannot fulfill his or her purpose. Hence, knowing how to effectively build relationships with people is fundamental to being a successful life coach. Boyce et al (2010) states, the similarity attraction hypothesis maintains that similarity is a major source of attraction between individuals and that a variety of physical, social, and status traits can be used as the basis for inferring similarity in attitudes and beliefs (p. 916). Compatibility refers to the appropriate combination of client and coach behavior preferences or the characteristics the client and coach possess that influence their cognitions and behaviors in various situations (Boyce et al, 2010, p. 916). It is believed that coaches who are matched with clients based on their styles of behavior and similar personalities are more likely to have a healthier relationship (Boyce et al, 2010). Then again, if a mismatched coaching relationship continues to exist the coach may be able to challenge the client s perspectives, which can result in higher performance outcomes (Boyce et al, 2010). Credibility is another important factor when matching coaches and clients. Boyce, Jackson and Neal (2010) state that, credibility refers to a coach possessing the necessary credentials to meet client needs and include coaching competence and experience (p. 917). Not only does credibility involve the coach s competence and experience, but their ability to hold true to their word. Clients expect coaches to follow through on their word. • 38. The World Of The Middle East Pilgrimage is no more! For hundreds, even thousands of years, pilgrims across the Middle East have been undertaking immensely costly and onerous journeys to reach holy sites, such as: Mecca, Medina, Damascus, among many others. Although, their reasons for the visit varied, they all shared a common underlying importance to please God. This great tradition, which brought millions of Muslims spiritual elevation and honor by obeying Allah, does not exist anymore. Colonialism and modernity have taken their tolls on Islam, which left very little of its purest form untainted. The industrial capitalist agenda of the west sped up technological advancement, which subsequently warped the world into a smaller, more easily accessible place. No longer did a pilgrim must rely solely on his own feet, or that of a camel s. While the Middle East became a smaller place, new ethnic, religious, and geographic borders were raised that, ever so rapidly generate logistical, religious, as well as, ethical issues which Islam must continually contend with. So, has true pilgrimage really been destroyed and simply replaced with a purely commercialized shell? Despite some of the arising negative aspects and challenges, I argue that spiritual pilgrimage persists to this day; it has merely adapted to the world s increasing volatility. Before attempting to presenting the basis for my argument, it is important to loosely lay out what a pilgrimage to a holy site such as Meccameans and what it entails. ... But this dream was not often realized and gained which caused conflict and social problems because many would result in crimes and violence. The framework for value conflict was created by Richard C. This creates a conflict of interests and there are (3) three stages of the mix of the two: 1.Awareness 2.Policy Determination 3.Reform Fuller and Myers wrote their papers during the Great Depression and World War II, both equally rough times in American history which created conflicts at home and abroad for people in general. The conflict theory opposed the notion of disorganization because what is wrong with individuals expressing how they feel about a subject that a different group agrees with. Just because two groups have different opinions is not disorganization in the view of the conflict theorists. This caused critics to suggest that competing sociologists were not following the guidelines to be value free. This led to the formulation of value conflict perspective to include the notion that sociologists should concern themselves with society rather than scientific appearances. • 40. Pros And Cons Of Alexander Hamilton Vs. Aaron Hamilton In many U.S. history classes all over the country, the Alexander Hamilton Vs. Aaron Burr duel is taught with little detail. Hamilton is a founding father, Burr is the Vice President, they challenge each other to a duel and Hamilton dies. However there is much more to the story as Hamilton consciously made the decision to throw away his shot and give Burr all of the power. This may not be the kind of decision that most people would make in this situation, but for Hamilton it was necessary. Alexander Hamiltonhad been through a great deal of hardships in his life. In the beginning his childhood was dark and filled with death, he tainted his love life and career with an affair, he gave his son fatal advice, and by speaking what he thought to be true he landed himself a spot in the duel against Burr. Within all of these aspects, Hamilton found himself helpless and no matter what he tried, he could not seem to fix the situation. Perhaps Hamilton decided to lay his fate in the hands of someone else for once because he never truly felt in control. When it comes to Alexander Hamilton s early life, it is no surprise that he spoke very little of his upbringings. Hamilton himself said, My birth is the subject of the most humiliating criticism . This comment is in part due to the fact that his mother, Rachel, was considered a prostitute for leaving her husband and becoming pregnant with an illegitimate child Alexander. People in low and middle income countries who suffer from CVDs and other noncommunicable diseases have less access to effective and equitable health care services which respond to their needs. The main objective of this work is to develop a classifier for the diagnosis of abnormal Common Carotid Arteries (CCA). This paper proposes a new approach for the transform domain analysis of longitudinal B mode ultrasound CCA images using Multiwavelets. Analysis is done using HM and GHM multiwavelets at various levels of decomposition. Multiwavelet preserves high frequency information in image and provides good energy compaction efficiency. Energy values of the coefficients of approximation, horizontal, vertical and diagonal details are calculated and plotted for different levels. Plots of energy values show high correlation with the abnormalities of CCA and offer the possibility of improved diagnosis of CVD. It is clear that the energy values can be used as an index of individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The focus of predator management is to minimize predation using nonlethal and lethal methods. Carnivores are vital for biological systems. Removing predators that eat the prey will cause a decline in the plants biomass. Problems with predation can be heavily influences by humans. Impacts on predators or prey can be from global warming, habitat loss, War, etc. Adult porcupines are one of the many species that are affected by global warming. Any prey species that molts to white pelage early in the winter due to global warming may expose themselves to predators easier because, if there is a heat spell, white fur will not be effective camouflage with loss of the snow. Other contributors for the decline of prey can be from drought which could dampen the amount of available resources or from interspecific completion for a common resource. There are some ethic and non ethic methods used for managing predators. Both methods can be used but, are better at different scenarios. Using lethal methods is controversial because it can conflict with public opinions, laws and regulations, animal rights, etc. Predator management is costly depending on the action taken. • 49. Descriptive Essay About A Boat I almost stepped foot into what I thought to be my watery grave, but I hesitated as my foot broke the surface of the water. I thought back to the boat ride out here and my feelings of uneasiness as we rode the waves. The small boat contained six rows of benches for the tourists to sit at the front of the boat. Directly behind the last row, a captain s station sat with the controls to steer the boat. Behind the control room, or the back of the boat, sat one long bench. A metal railing encircled the entire boat, except for a small portion at the back. Resting below the open area, hooked to the side of the boat, sat a three rung ladder. I still tasted the wintergreen lifesaver I enjoyed on the car ride over here. The boat took us three miles off the north shore of Oahu, I couldn t help but admire the beauty of this paradise. Looking at the green mountains, lined with thick and healthy trees thanks to all the rain, and the exquisite white beaches, calmed me and helped me forget the anxiety that overcame me. The cold, early morning ocean breeze pulled my hair back, but no goosebumps graced my skin thanks to the warm sun shining down on us. My fellow boat passengers all seemed to appear calm while we rode on this death trap that closed the distance between us and the cage. My idea of fun consisted of reading a book or watching a movie with family and friends, not jumping into a cagesurrounded by sharks. Adventure and risks are not a part of my life. The boat s captains included five men. Each man had a beard and browned skin from all their time in the sun. Sunglasses rested on each of their eyes, shielding them from the bright, hot sun. The boat engines loud roar came to a stop, only the waves crashing against the boat made a sound. The oldest of the five men spoke first. He lifted a crooked, dark finger and held it over the left side of the boat and exclaimed in a gruff voice, The cage is over there and you will need to swim in 15 yards of free water to get to it.
