Regional Pain Syndrome Speech
Hello, I am Lisa Proctor and this is After CRPS (WEBCAST). Today I thought I could talk to you
about Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and what I have learned it is. ............. Complex Regional
Pain Syndrome aka The Suicide Disease is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the
following criteria... Painwhich is out of proportion to the injury; autonomic dysregulation;
neuropathic edema; movement disorder, as well as atrophy and dystrophy of the muscular
tissue........................ It is most often caused by a fracture, soft tissue injury or surgical procedure.
CRPS was previously known within the medical community as reflex sympathetic dystrophy CRPS
type 1 and Causalgia CRPS type 2...... Interestingly enough, the differences... Show more content on

I fell on the 9th of February in 2012 and without warning went from caregiver to care given.
Formally diagnosed with CRPS in 2015 just before a last ditch effort to allow me some sort of
life after diagnosis I went forward with the implantation of the Spinal Cord Stimulator with the
hope that the device would disrupt the pain signal. Because of its failure to address my pain and
which in fact caused additional pain due to the how the device was installed, I had to find
something else to help me. I wanted more out of life, I expected more out of life. So began my
journey of discovery to regain my independence and a quality of life I once lost. It has taken
almost three years now after reading that the underlying cause of CRPS was an autoimmune
related condition to achieve the unexpected by turning around my prognosis and I ve only just
begun. ...... It is because of individuals such as yourself who are where I was, feeling lost and
abandoned by the mainstream medical community who gave life to After CRPS. It was your
overwhelming requests for me to share my discoveries and how I have been able to regain my
independence which encourages me to keep up the fight and for that, I say Thank

Business Financing For Small Businesses Essay
Small Business Loans
Starting a business requires capital so as to run and steer the business to profitability. There are
many sources of financing tailored to meet the needs of start ups and small businesses. Business
financing usually varies depending on factors such as source of funds and the size and type of
business. The process of securing funds can also be problematic for most start ups and small
business because of the unwillingness of most traditional banks to provide funds to small
borrowers. Here are some of the main non banking financing options for startups and small
businesses:
Venture capitalists most venture capitalists are focused on specific growth industries. For this
reason, small businesses that are making money can tap into this form of financing to expand
their businesses into the next phase of growth. Besides capital financing, venture capitalist also
provide crucial business insights and leads to business owners. For example, a business owner
can be advised if the product or service he or she wants to sell will be a success or failure. Most
venture capitalist who lend money to small businesses offer short term to mid term borrowing of
between 3 to 5 years.
Grants startups that are keen on research can apply for grants from governments and willing
investors. However, grant recipients must meet all the laid down developmental and research
goals. In most cases, the ideas advanced by such entities must be viable to move to the next phase of

Postmodernism Versace
Postmodernism Versace Introduction The passageway of modernism has introduced innovative
components in the development of an individual s personality. The identity character as a social
construct is highlighted through the effect that fashion has brought in, experimenting, producing
and changing individual identity. The style and appearance of an individual is a portion of the
fashion s period and usually refers to the possibility of people to utilize fashion industry products.
This takes place just like any other consumer good that can be modified with respect to the
prevalent societal codes. The modifications can be made either through surpassing or through
copying them. Modern fashions are part of postmodernism. This is in the view of the fact that
developments and growth in the fashion industry accompany and express development of the
society through embracing postmodernism. Developments in the fashion industry offer options
regarding styles, image and clothing through rejecting the options presented in modernism. This
paper discusses Versace designs and their relationship to postmodernism. Postmodernism
Postmodernism refers to a broad term used to explain movements in philosophy, art, music and
critical theory. Postmodernism is viewed as a reaction to the pioneering modernist movement. In
literature and art, postmodernism responds against classical ideas. With respect to post
structuralism and structuralism, there is a great difference between postmodernism

Reflective Philosophy In Education
Throughout my education, I had the benefit of attending fifteen different schools in various
locations in the United States. This provided me with the opportunity to experience a variety of
teaching methods and philosophies utilized by educators. Also, my son attended eight different
schools in various states that provided me with additional exposure to various teaching methods. By
using my past experiences along with my current studies, I lean heavily towards an overall
constructivist philosophy, though each of the philosophies commonly referenced has aspects that
are beneficial to students learningalso.
As Dewey, I believe in providing a classroom atmosphere that is democratically focused where
students feel comfortable to communicate and express their opinions while respecting and
listening to others. With this in mind, I plan to provide and facilitate many opportunities for
students to converse and collaborate together while working on projects so students can learn to
appreciate different perspectives. By providing students with a voice in the classroom, students can
also participate in setting the goals and objectives of not only the lessons, but allows them to take
responsibility for their personal learning and growth. Dewey also believed that students learned
best through real life, hands on experiences that have meaning to the learner and previous
experiences can be applied in new ways. Teachers are responsible for providing these opportunities

Erikson s Psychosocial Stages Of Development
The middle adulthood stage of development is from about forty years of age until about sixty
five years of age. At this stage, the typical person has found their desired career path, a
relationship worth settling down with, and their piece of the bigger picture. Being successful and
giving back to the community is important during this time frame. According to Erikson s
psychosocial stages of human development, this is the point in life where the question is
generativity or stagnation. Generativity is reached if a person feels that they are successful and
doing a good service for the rest of the world, but if the feeling of failure in these areas arises
stagnation, inactivity, is reached. Both generativity and stagnation are developed mainly... Show

Because of this decrease, bone diseases like osteoporosis, osteopenia, and arthritis. Osteoporosis
is when the bones become more brittle, the mass decreases which makes bones more likely to
break. Osteoporosis is more common in women but increases the likeliness the older the body is
for both men and women. As many as half of all women and a quarter of men older than 50 will
break a bone due to osteoporosis ( Osteoporosis: MedlinePlus. ). Osteopenia is the same as
osteoporosis in the sense that the bones become brittle and bones are more likely to break and the
mass decreases, but not as much of the mass as osteoporosis. Osteopenia is low bone mass that is
not low enough to be osteoporosis ( Osteoporosis: MedlinePlus. ). Bone mass or density is lost as
people age, especially in women after menopause ( Osteoporosis: MedlinePlus. ). Arthritis is a
condition that generally affects the bone and tissues surrounding the bone. There are two main
types of arthritis: osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis is aging in any joint on the
body. When the bones in a joint are worn down, they begin to rub against each other. The rubbing
from the two bones in a joint is what causes the severe pain and inflammation. Rheumatoid arthritis
involves many joints mainly in the wrists, fingers, thumbs, elbows, feet, ankles, and knees. When

Iago As A Sociopath In Shakespeare s Othello
Iago as a Sociopath in Othello Trust is fundamental to life, but knowing who to trust can be quite
difficult. Having faith in the wrong person could lead to unfortunate outcomes. In William
Shakespeare s Othello, many characters are blinded by Iago s false personality, causing them to put
their trust in someone who eventually makes them feel cheated and betrayed. After reviewing the
term sociopath, defined as, a person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme
antisocial attitudes and behaviour (English Oxford), one could say that Iagohas antisocial
personality disorder. The traits Iago displays throughout the play, such as his use of manipulation,
his abusive behavior toward others, his lack of remorse, and his deceitfulness make him a true
sociopath. According to Mayo Clinic, a sociopath uses charm or wit to manipulate others for
personal gain or personal pleasure (Mayo Clinic). Iago exhibits this characteristic by manipulating
Roderigo for the whole duration of the play. He traps Roderigo in his web by making empty
promises and choosing his words carefully, as seen in the following quote by Iago:
I grant indeed it hath not appeared, and your suspicion is not without wit and judgment. But,
Roderigo, if thou hast that in thee indeed, which I have greater reason to believe now than ever I
mean purpose, courage and valor this night show it. If thou the next night following enjoy not
Desdemona, take me from this world with treachery and devise engines for my life. (4.2.243 250)
In this scene, Roderigo is sceptical of Iago s plan and puts a sword to his throat. Iago swiftly
maneuvers out of this situation by telling Roderigo how his judgement is brave and now he
believes that Roderigo will do whatever it takes to get Desdemona s love. Iago says that if
Roderigo does not complete the plan, then he cannot try to kill him. The fooled Roderigo is
shocked and is now completely loyal to Iago who barely got out of this bad situation using his
manipulation skills. Later in the play, Roderigo finally recognizes that Iago has been taking
advantage of him saying, O damned Iago! O inhumane dog! (5.1.74). As seen by his constant
manipulative actions and dialogue, Iago reveals himself as a sociopath.

A History of Beauty in Gender and Sexuality Writings
Discuss what you think the sources tell us about beauty s place in the history of gender and
sexuality. Consider as well the historical evidence you have about efforts to enhance beauty through
adornment or other alterations of appearance.
The concept of beauty is one of the more intriguing and important concepts in the study of gender
and sexuality. Beauty has held a prominent role in shaping people s personal lives and by
extension, the lives of society and humanity at large in both positive and negative fashions. Charles

Charles Darwin s Descent of Man and Selection in Relation to Sex (1871), Sigmund Freud s
Three Contributions to the Theory of Sex (1905), and Robert Musil s The Confusions of a
Young Törless (1906) served to illustrate concepts of aesthetic beauty through the presence of
adornment and beautification, the concept of libido theory and its dependence on physical
beauty, and finally the concept of negative beauty, or the consequences of artificial collectivism
and control. Charles Darwin, Sigmund Freud, and Robert Musil all work off of each other and
use the concept of beauty in different ways, but when read in succession these works serve as a
general timeline of gender and sexuality theory. The combined sources of Charles Darwin s
Descent of Man and Selection in Relation to Sex (1871), Sigmund Freud s Three Contributions to
the Theory of Sex (1905), and Robert Musil s The Confusions of a Young Törless (1906) solidify
beauty in all its sense as holding a strong position in the overarching history of gender and sexuality
and are even more interesting to note due to their progressive nature and philosophical intimacy.
These texts stretch across different subjects, time periods, and even authorial regions to explain
how the concept of beauty has contributed to the history of gender and sexuality, and that
contribution must be

What People Had For Lunch
Recollect what people had for lunch. Did any of their lunch things have a nourishment facts
name on the back of them? Provided that this is true, and in the event that people observed the
sustenance s protein, sugar, or fat substance, they might as of now be acquainted with a few
sorts of vast organic particles, which are going to be discussed in this paper. Therefore, everyone
will also be viewed the four major biological macromolecules as are carbohydrates (such as sugars),
lipids (such as fats), proteins and nucleic acids (such as RNA and DNA), which all are fundamental
forever. A large portion of these molecules is shaped from monomers and polymers. Monomers
are small molecules that can be joined by a condensation reaction, in which water is removed to
form the bond between two monomers. Whereas polymers are huge molecules, can be degraded
by a hydrolysis reaction in which water is added to break the bond between polymers. That s how
the large molecules are formed due to condensation and hydrolysis reaction. First of all, let s
discuss the carbohydrate molecule, which contains carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen atoms.
Carbohydrates are the most important source of energy for our body and our digestive system
changes carbohydrates into glucose (sugar). Carbohydrates contain monosaccharides (one simple
sugar), disaccharides (two simple sugars), and polysaccharides (many simple sugars). These simple
sugars are joined by glycosidic bonds to form

Abc s Television Series About The Black Experience Of...
ABC s Blackish is a brilliant television series about the Black experience of Andre Johnson and his

United States. Ideology is defined as ...a system of meaning that helps define and explain the world

challenges certain ideologies, it also, intentionally or unintentionally, promotes other ideologies.

critiqued by his White co workers for not being as distraught as they are. He s told that it does not
seem as if he cares about the country. Andre rants to his coworkers, saying that he loves America,
even when it doesn t love him. He then explains to them the history of racism for Black people in
America, and how these tragedies have been normalized in his world. This is a direct reflection
of the real word post elections, as people of color were indeed disappointed, but many were used
to being let down by the system. Many of them are perceived as unconcerned about the election
results because they did not react the same way that privileged communities have reacted. The
fact that Andre had to state whether he loved America or not in order to justify his emotions
reinforces the ideologies of respectability politics. Respectability politics is a loose term that
essentially involves impression management behaviors as they are believed to be a presentation of
self for African Americans as a necessary or useful strategy to be safe and successful in a racist
society (Lee, Hicken. 2016). By definition, this sounds realistic, but in execution, it

Long Distance Freight Trucking Industry Analysis The U.S. economy is significantly impacted by
the symbiotic relationships among most industries in the U.S. When one industry is negatively
impacted many other industries experience fluctuations in supply, demand, and profit. The long
distance freight trucking industry is a prime example of an industry that maintains interdependent
relationships within the U.S. economy. If the long distance trucking industry were to shut down for

A disruption in trucking for just several days would impact numerous industries and markets as
well as significantly impact the safety and well being of Americans. Not only does trucking
provide vital services by transporting essential products, but it also contributes to the economy as a
thriving and growing industry. The long distance freight trucking industry employed over
1,107,000 in 2015 with forecasted growth for the next five years. However, the industry is voicing
its concern over a shortage of drivers. Contribution of truck transportation as a whole to the gross
output since the recession in 2009 has steadily increased to 332.4 billion in 2014 with a forecast
of continued growth for the foreseeable future. The trucking industries input to the Gross Domestic
Product from 2010 to 2014 was .8% annually. The contribution of long distance freight trucking to
the GDP during 2015 was over $63,000,000 with anticipated increase for the next five years. The
trucking industry in its entirety appears to have only minimally invested in R D with the most
recent records indicating approximately 166 million spent in 2007. Much of the data on R D is

IHSA Interview Essay
Two days before the IHSA State Competition (which involves taking 35 people on a bus for 72
hours three hours south and competing in the Peoria Civic Center), a posting crept into my email
for an Instructional Coach, a position that the district was not planning to create. This position,
which did not have a job description attached, stated that a teacher at each building would
become a TOSA (Teacher On Special Assignment) the following year to fulfill this role. I had
two days to apply and would interview if selected, the next Tuesday. Good luck! Without a
concrete description, I was hesitant to apply. Like my students, I like boundaries and guidelines
(maybe even some sort of rubric). This role, whatever it turned out to be, would certainly push me

budget deficit Essay
quot;It s time to clean up this mess. quot; Famous last words heard from the mouths of many
different politicians when talking about the national debt and the budget deficit. Our debt is
currently $4.41 trillion and we have a budget deficit of around $300 billion and growing. Our
government now estimates that by the year 2002 the debtwill be $6.507 Trillion. While our
politicians talk of balancing the budget, not one of them has proposed a feasible plan to start
paying down the debt. In the early days of our government debt was considered to be a last resort.

A ceiling is placed on U.S. federal debt, and Congress must enact new legislation to raise the
ceiling. Between 1981 and 1990 the ceiling was raised from about $1.08 trillion to about $4.15
trillion.
Unfortunately at the end of 1995 we reached the ceiling again, and Congress refused to raise it.
They felt that it had become too much, and there was a government shutdown for a few days in
November. Not only was this an inconvenience to many people, it also accounted for an estimated
$63 million a day in lost productivity, and almost double that in lost tax revenue.
Due to the threat of this, Clinton has a plan to balance the budget by 2005. This plan includes a
projected $1.1 trillion spending cut over the next ten years, slow the growth of spending on
Medicare and Medicaid, trim social and farm programs, close a number of corporate tax
loopholes and retain the package of middle class tax cuts he proposed earlier. He also specified
that programs such as Social Security, education, and training would be immune from such cuts.
He did warn though, quot;Make no mistake in other areas, there will be big cuts, and they will

Essay on Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Abstract
The wrist is surrounded by a band of fibrous tissue, which normally functions as a support for the
joint. The tight space between this fibrous band and the wrist bone is called the carpal tunnel (The
Stay Well Company, 1999). The median nerve passes through the carpal tunnelto receive sensations
from the thumb, index, and middle fingers of the hand. Any condition that causes swelling or a
change in position of the tissue within the carpal tunnel can squeeze and irritate the median nerve,
which causes tingling and numbness of the thumb, index, and the middle fingers, a condition
known as carpal tunnel syndrome (Nidus Information Systems, 2001). All people ... Show more

A very strong ligament called the transverse carpal ligament connects the arch of bones, which
makes a complete tunnel . The transverse carpal ligament is a heavy band of fibers which runs
between the hamate and pisiform medially to the scaphoid and trapezium laterally, and forms a
fibrous sheath which contains the carpal tunnel. These bones and this ligament form a circle

from which tendons and major nerves travel. This complete circle is called the Carpal Tunnel,
hence the name of this disease Carpal Tunnel Syndrome . Nine tiny but tough tendons, each in its
lubricating lining or sheath, slide back and forth through the tunnel as the muscles of the hand and
fingers move. These tendons are called the Flexor tendons; these tendons are the structures that let
you bend your fingers, or flex, your fingers. They are long smooth cords that arise in the muscles
of the forearm and end on the fingers. They work like a bicycle brake cable to flex your fingers,
sliding in and out as the fingers bend and straighten. The median nerve is the only nerve that travels
through the tunnel along with the tendons. This soft tissue carries sensations from part of the hand
to the central nervous system (The Stay Well Company,1999).

Bloodstain Pattern Analysis Lab
Bloodstain pattern analysis (BPA) is the interpretation of bloodstains at a crime scene in order to
recreate the actions that caused the bloodshed. Analysts examine the size, shape, distribution, and
location of the bloodstains to draw about what happened. BPA uses principles of biology (behavior
of blood), physics (cohesion, capillary action and velocity) and mathematics (geometry, distance,
and angle) to assist investigators in answering questions like:
From where did the blood originate from?
What was the cause of the bloodshed? (weapons used)
From what direction was the victim wounded?
What were the positions of the victim/ attacker during the bloodshed?
Did anyone/anything move around after the bloodshed?

Blood drops are falling freely and only moving because of the pull of gravity on it. At low
velocities, larger bloodstains are produced. Usually, low velocity bloodstains are a result of
blood dripping from a victim. Dripping blood often falls at a 90 angle. This causes a circular
bloodstain to form on the surface that hits it lands upon. The droplets range from 4mm 10mm.
However, this usually happens if the victim is not moving and completely still. If droplets are
falling from a moving object or person, (walking or running) they fall to the ground at an angle
(see angle of impact) and the direction of the movement can be established. Spines often appear
on bloodstains left behind and can be caused by drops repeatedly landing in the same place, by the
distance the drop falls (larger spines indicate larger distance), or by the surface upon which the
blood lands (rough surfaces cause more spines to form). Low velocity blood may also be found in
the trail of a person who is bleeding and larger pools of blood may indicate where the person

In The Lake Of The Woods Literary Analysis
Throughout Tim O Brien s, In The Lake Of The Woods, the nature of love is mysterious. This is
demonstrated throughout the novel by presenting several characters with mysterious backgrounds,
deploying an unknown narrator, and leaving the end of the book on a cliffhanger. All of these
elements come together to show that the nature of loveis pure mystery. The main character, John
Wade, is full of mystery. As a child, he was extremely interested in magic. He even relied on it as
a coping mechanism when his father died. As an adult, his interest in magic didn t fade. When he
was in the army, his nickname was Sorceror. Once in the army, John Wade began not only to hide
the secrets of his magic, but also secrets of his personal life. Once he came back from the war, this
habit only got worse. The narrator of the novelalso exhibits mystery. Nobody knows who he is, or
why he is telling this story. His purpose could be considered just as much of a mystery as what
happened to Kathy. Lastly, the ending of the book clearly exudes mystery, since there is never an
answer confirming what happened to Kathy.
The mystery of the narrator is almost as important as what happened to Kathy. Even though the
narrator tells a large part of the story, there is no mention of who he really is. The narrator clearly

Factors That Play Into Choosing What Type Of Childcare...
There are several factors that play into choosing what type of childcare facility to open. Some
questions to ask are how many children do I wish to have? How about the age range for the
children in the center? The operating hours as well as operational days will determine what type
of childcare you will have to start. A child care center extends child care services, covering early
learning openings, for a set tuition in a center based setting. Child care centers are typically
licensed by the state. Several states excuse particular kinds of child care centers from licensing.
State licensing guidelines give direction regarding the number of children that can be enrolled and
in what type of child care program. A familychild care home offers... Show more content on

There are several teachers that are available to the child and can help support each other. Licensing
requirements are done by state agencies, and usually safer. Training of teachers is regulated and
is held to a higher standard regarding health and safety. Center based child cares are inspected
yearly. All centers have a set curriculum and therefore more options to teach and learn. Center
based child care is dependable because you know the hours and days of operation will not change.
Now we will talk about the disadvantages of a center based child care. There are more children
to take care of since there will be larger groups. Having too many different caregivers or teachers
may confuse the child and steer away from consistency. Center based tuition can be more
expensive, especially when there are more than one child in the family. The businesses operating
hours may be outside the normal parenting work hours which leave no flexibility for drop off and
pick up. Also, if a child was to become sick, they would not be allowed to stay the remainder of the
day, and cannot return based on their symptoms until they are well again. Another type of childcare
is a family home based child care. This is when one teacher is caring for children in smaller groups.
The type of setting is probably located in the teacher s home which is operated as a small business.
There are several advantages of being part of a family home based daycare. There are smaller

It s a Good Business by Solomon
Summary of It s Good Business
The author Robert Solomon argues that ethics has to an integral part with regard to business
management. He does not believe that business management must include unethical or illegal
methods to be able to succeed. Solomon preaches that business management is not as simple as
obtaining revenue. Businesses need to abide by fair policies and their owners have to be ethical in
dealing with their customers (Shaw p. 37). The author acknowledges that while illegal practices in
business management could bring positive results at first, eventually the business is bound to fail.
This is why Solomon recommended eight important policies that can help businesses in integrating
ethics into their operations.

This way, businesses would really think twice with regard to getting involved in illegal
transactions with other organizations. It is easy to understand Solomon s argument that unethical
practices destroy the business and its key people. This has been proven by so many companies,
such as Enron case, whose scandals have been unveiled to the public and the people who used to
amass great wealth out of unethical practices are now behind bars. Even if they get out of prison, it
will be difficult to imagine how they can recover from the negative image that the public already
has on them. The problem with unethical practices is that a company itself is not the only one will
suffer from the consequence of its illegal actions. Most of the time, there are customers who get
victimized by these unethical practices as they put their trust and loyalty on businesses that they
have patronized for so long. At the end of the day, all they can do is file their complaints and vent
out their frustrations over the betrayal they experienced from their trusted businesses, but the
damage remains permanent. The once excellent relationships are forever destroyed and victimized
customers always carry with them the trauma and fear that they could be fooled again in the future.
Unethical practices of business managements are also tough for the employees who get confused
whether to do what is right or just avoid complications and go with the flow. Solomon states that

Effects Of Sexting In Teenagers
Most teenagers see sexting or sending nudes as a normal teenager thing. One thing they don t know
is the risks they re running by sending inappropriate messages or pictures to another person. In
order to try and prevent sexting amongst teens, multiple laws have been enforced throughout the
years. These laws are there to protect and help teens understand the seriousness of sexting.
Sexting nude images of teens under the age of 18 is seen as child pornography and is illegal in the
United States. Most people believe that an offence only occurs if a young person is under
pressure to make and send an explicit image, or if a private photo sent to one person is
distributed more widely. But most young girls British Conservative Party politician, Sarah
Newton, speaks to see no problem in sending a provocative photo to their boyfriend for fun they

image can land them big trouble and the same goes for the receiver. In a case between 19 year old
Russell Foster and his 14 year old girlfriend Amber, Russell faced four years in prison and was
registered as a sex offender. Even though Russell and Amber are now married, Russell s record
has made it hard for him to find work, and being a registered sex offender has limited where the

Essay on Premarital Cohabitation
Premarital Cohabitation is a rapidly growing phenomenon in our society today. Cohabitation is
defined as two people living in the same household who are unrelated, and of the opposite sex
(Kunz, 2012). There are many studies that state disadvantages to cohabitating, before marriage, but
at the same time there are many studies stating little to no difference in cohabitating couples and
couples who did not cohabitate before marriage. There are quite of few different types of
cohabitationbefore marriage that Kunz (2012) lists her book. A very common type is the trail
marriage, the opportunity for couples to test out their compatibility in a long term mindset. This is
more typical of college students and graduates rather than that of... Show more content on

Premarital cohabitation has become immensely popular with the younger generations. In 1970
there were 500,000 cohabitating couples and in 2000 there were 7.5 million and that number is
rapidly growing (Kunz, 2012). Statistics show that nearly two thirds of Americans will most likely
cohabitate with a relationship partner before marriage (Gordon, 2012). Some researchers relate this
to the rising divorce rate in America, coming in at nearly 50 percent of marriages, to cohabitation
before marriage. This concept is called the cohabitation effect. A couple cohabitating before
marriage is automatically associated with a higher risk for divorce. Although there have been
studies denying these claims that cohabitating before marriage has a little effect on marriage
stability, they have their exceptions.
Kunz (2012) states that the cohabitation effect isn t as prominent as researchers originally thought.
Its been shown that when a couple cohabitates before marriage, with the intent to marry in the
future, they have equal experiences as a couple who did not cohabitate before marriage. The
marriage stability and health of the couple did not differ. Here s where the studies and statistics that
prove higher divorce rates and poor health come in. These conditions are found in couples who
cohabitate before marriage with no intent to become married in the future. These types of
cohabitating relationships relate to negative communication between

Lutheranism And Calvinism
These are the reasons I believe Lutheranism is better than Calvinism and why you should leave the
Catholic Church and come and join Lutheranism. Firstly, Lutheranism is a major branch of
Protestant Christianity which identifies with the theology of Martin Luther. Martin Luther (1483
1546) was a German monk, reformer, and theologian. Calvinism is the religious doctrines of John
Calvin. Calvin stressed that people are saved through God s grace, not through their own merits.
The most famous of Calvin s ideas is his doctrine of predestination. John Calvin (509 1564) was a
French theologian and reformer in Switzerland. He was also a leader in the Protestant Reformation.
As you can already see, Martin Luther had more experience as a religious... Show more content on

Calvinism, on the other hand, being a more traditional form of Protestantism, completely rejects the
authority of the interpreters of God s teachings, starting with the Pope s. Lutheranism teaches that
the body and blood of Jesus Christ is actually present in the actual bread and wine. That is, when
celebrating the Sacrament of the Eucharist, one can be exposed to Jesus Christ physically by eating
bread and drinking wine. Calvinism, on the other hand, teaches that the presence of the body and
the blood has been only spiritual. Calvinism teaches the absolute supremacy of God. The concept
of supremacy is of utmost importance. God accomplishes all things he has chosen to accomplish
and never fails. This leaves very little for a man, since God knows better. For Lutherans, on the
other hand, a concept of supremacy is not very important. Martin Luther and his followers saw the
main point of theology was in Jesus Christ being given to humanity in the form of Words and the
Sacraments. Predestination is a theological concept that views all the events in the Universe as
having been foreseen by God. Calvinism and Lutheranism Have different views on predestination.
For Calvinism, predestination is of big importance. They state that men can do nothing to change
the order of things as it was envisioned by God. The Calvinists view on predestination is the subject
of many theological arguments and controversies. For Lutherans

Tsunami Of The Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning And Mitigation...
Early in the morning of December 26, 2004, an earthquake rocked the floor of the Indian Ocean.
The 9.1 9.3 magnitude earthquake subsequently caused a series of catastrophic tsunamis to hit the
coasts of Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and South Africa. The destruction was devastating,
causing just under $10 billion in damage and an estimated $7 billion more in humanitarian aid.
Although so much aid was sent to the affected areas, ten years later some of the areas are still
suffering from the devastation. Looking back, the main cause of the devastation was the lack of
warning systems in place. Although some places like Indonesia may not have had time to evacuate,
many other affected areas had plenty of time but were completely uninformed, being taken by
surprise. Following the tsunamithe Indian OceanTsunami Warning and Mitigation System was
created and put into place. A lot can be learned from the lack of warning and preparedness from
this disaster in order to better prepare for the future (History.com, Rodgers). Originally, the

The And Estuaries During The Gulf Coast Essay
The marshlands and estuaries located throughout the Gulf Coast provide important breeding
grounds and nurseries for the fishing and shrimping industries. In 2008, according to the
National Marine Fisheries Service, the commercial fish and shellfish harvest from the five U.S.
Gulf states was estimated to be 1.3 billion pounds valued at $661 million. Oil spills are
extremely harmful to marine life when they occur and often for years or even decades later, said
Jacqueline Savitz, a marine scientist and climate campaign director at Oceana, an environmental
group. She said spills could coat sea birds and limit their flying ability and damage fisheriesby
injuring marine organism s systems related to respiration, vision and reproduction. Savitz said that
the Gulf of Mexicois host to four species of endangered sea turtles and bluefin tuna, snapper and
grouper. Each of these can be affected, she said. Turtles have to come to the surface to breathe
and can be coated with oil or may swallow it. And, she added, the Gulf is one of only two
nurseries for bluefin tuna, more than 90 percent of which return to their place of birth to spawn.

Importance of Eucharist
Importance of the Eucharist
Receiving the Eucharist is one of the most important things we can do as a catholic. Holy
Communion is the most important of all the sacraments. It completes the Sacraments of Initiation.
The bread and wine we receive at communion is the body and blood of Jesus. It becomes the bread
and body of Jesus through Transubstantiation. Transubstantiation is the conversion of the
substance of the Eucharistic elements into the body and blood of Christ at consecration, only the
appearances of bread and wine still remain. We participate in the sacrament of communion to
commemorate all that Jesus did for us and getting nailed to a cross so we can be free from sin and
have eternal life in heaven.
The Lord gave us the sacrament of communion on Holy Thursday at the Last Supper. After first
washing the feet of the disciples, he then did the breaking of the bread. Jesus said Take, eat, this
is my body after Jesus said this he did the same for the wine saying Drink from it, all of you, for
this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins . This
shows us how Jesus himself is the bread and wine us Catholics receive at Holy Communion. The
sacrament of Communion is the only one of the seven sacraments that we are actually receiving
Jesus directly, along with having a grace bestowed upon us.
Receiving Holy Communion is very important. We should receive it as much as possible and be
very excited to receive it. Before

Light also affects the melatonin production, which is a major biochemical signal depending on
darkness. Melatonin production is increased during the night and maintains the circadian cycle.
Scientists have found that melatonin production decreases with the impact of light. A disruption in
the circadian rhythm, like light exposure during the night, inhibits the signal system and therefore
the production of melatonin. According to IDA (2012) melatonin suppression occurs instantly upon
light exposure and stops when the lights are turned off. IDA maintained that a prolonged, daily
occurring, exposure to light during the melatonin producing phase at night, could lead to chronic
melatonin suppression which could evoke depression. light exposure at night could cause elevating
heart rate, irregular core body temperature and affecting cortisol production.
Circadian rhythm sleep disorder is caused by inappropriate exposure to light which may include
sleep problems, fatigue, forgetfulness, performance problems and gastrointestinal problems. The
long term effects of these problems might be increased cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and
some types of cancer.

Stereotypes Of Native Americans In The Film Smoke Signals
In the movie Smoke Signals the writer Sherman Alexie frequently shows stereotypes of the
Native American people and shows the audience why the stereotypes are not true or meaningful.
Focusing on the character Thomas, the film portrays him like he would be the stereotypical
Indian sitting around the campfire telling stories. I think the film did a good job trying to show
that, as he is often telling stories and he is even guided by his dreams making him seem like a
spiritual person. Specifically citing the story when Thomas had a dream that told him to go to the

both were spoken through personal accounts, and both used constant detail to express the horrible

my understanding of this book because I was aware of the common occurrences that can take place
while climbing Mt. Everest, and the gruesome circumstances that go with it. During the eighth

and pain he experienced throughout the expedition, he wanted to achieve this goal for himself,

A great artist, Eugene Delacroix, once said, What moves men of genius, or rather what inspires
their work, is not new ideas, but their obsession with the idea that what has already been said is
still not enough. This famous saying, highlights one of the reasons art or even a single painting is
so important. Art is more than shapes and colors; art brings about so much more meaning. It
expresses life, history, beauty, and morals. It shows beliefs and contributes to the many reasons that
make a human being, a human. Art represents past, present, and future. An ancient painting that

Spirit Of Offense
Do you walk in the spirit of offense?
The truth is, all of us at one time or another, have either been offended or offended someone.
And the good news is, we all have the opportunity to SHIELD UP!
How Do I know if I have the spirit of offense?
Before we get into what it means to Shield Up, let s first identify if we have the spirit of offense.
Even though we are told in James 1:19 to be slow to take offense, we have seen relationships
destroyed and people leave their church family over the spirit of offense. (Block Quote)
Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow
to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry. ~ James 1:19 (AMPC)

Submission is meant for every believer. As Godexpects us to submit to Him, to each other, to our
spouses, employers, and our government!
Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient,
always ready to do what is good. ~ Titus 3:1(NLT)
The slippery slope here is that without submission, we can almost guarantee that we will walk in
the spirit of offense.
That s because to be discipled is to be mentored. To be mentored is to be held accountable.
However, you cannot be discipled without being teachable. You cannot be mentored without
yielding to submission. And you cannot receive accountability without humility.
In other words, when you walk in humility you will avoid walking in the spirit of offense!

They give examples from C.S. Lewis when discussing this subject. They quote Lewis with the term
Chronological snobbery . This term means that while older generations only find value in the
traditions and heritage of our faith, the younger generations only find relevance in what is current.
They also write this type of separation between the young and old has effectively begun
dismembering the body of Christ limb by limb. The authors also put focus on the act of individual
preferences through church shopping. This according to Page and Gray, result in the encouraging
of churches to offer consumer driven programming in order to keep members on their rolls. They
give scripture which identifies the importance of unity. Ephesians 4:14 16 shows how the body of
Christ should be unified in the midst of diversity. Leaders should work extra hard to keep the
church family worshipping together. The authors condemn chronological snobbery and suggest that
both the young and old come together. The young generation must grow up and the older
generation needs to adapt. Analysis: The authors point out a huge problem that is alive and well in
the church. Due to personal preferences, the church has separated itself from one another. Not only
are different cultures separate but the age differences within the church are separated amongst
themselves. The leaders of worship within the church whether they are pastors or worship band

each other. Maria is brave because she didn t make the carpet that was assigned to her instead
she made one with a kite. She is also Independent because at the beginning of the book she kept
to herself and didn t speak. Finally, she s loving because she never left Fatimas side when she
needed help. Olivia just like Maria is Loving and would do anything for her family. Olivia is
caring for when Isabel would get in trouble with their dad, Olivia would do something funny and
try to make Isabel happy again. She is outgoing too, because she would try to make friends with
everyone and didn t care who watched her while she danced. Lastly, she is adaptable because when
they moved to their aunt s house at the beginning of the book she adapted

Essay on Gloria Naylor s Mama Day
Gloria Naylor s Mama Day
It is impossible to interpret Gloria Naylor s 1988 novel, Mama Day, in one way. There are
multiple standpoints that a reader can take in explaining various events that occur throughout the
book, as well as different ways that the characters in the book interpret these events. The author
never fully clarifies many questions that the story generates so as to leave the readers with the
opportunity to answer them based on their own personal experiences and beliefs. The multiplicity
of perspectives in Gloria Naylor s Mama Day is embodied in the legend of Sapphira Wade and the
dynamics between logic and the supernatural and between George and Cocoa.
Sapphira Wade is a character that Naylor uses as a tool... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The descendents of Sapphira all received deeds to pieces of land in Willow Springs in 1823. How
the descendants of a slave woman came to inherit the land of slave owner is unclear because
different interpretations of the event that occurred in 1823 seem to have been developed from
generation to generation. For instance, some say Sapphira smothered Bascombe Wade in his
very bed, while others say she persuaded Bascombe Wade in a thousand days to deed all his
slaves every inch of land in Willow Springs and poisoned him for his trouble (Naylor 3). These
different interpretations apparently lead to the development to the use of the phrase 18 23 as a
slang term. For some, the phrase seems to represent death and destruction whereas others use it
synonymously with deception. But no matter what actually happened in 1823, the fact that so
many views are accepted by the community conveys to the reader the importance of open
mindedness in reading the book. Naylor continues to suggest the significance of open mindedness
by providing the reader with the opportunity to choose more than one way to explain Mama Day
s encounter with Bernice. Bernice decides to seek the advice of Mama Day, who is known to
have miraculous healing abilities, when she has trouble conceiving. Mama Day gives Bernice
pumpkin seeds and puts her under the impression that they are magic seeds (Naylor 96). This gives
Bernice time to build

Application of a Differentiation Strategy in an Organization
Technology Strategic Analysis
Porter defines cost leadership, differentiation and focus, as the basic business strategies for an
organization to gain competitive advantages. An effective competitive strategy should be based on
the organization s goals and objectives as well as the market situation (Allen Helms, 2006). Hotel
ICON is an independent teaching hotel focusing on creative and innovative design and services. As
the slogan Unlike Any Other illustrates, Hotel ICON strives to create a unique hotel experience for
customers instead of a stereotype one that they can gain in most chain hotels. This indicates that the
hotel is following a differentiation strategy to gain competitive advantages in the Hong Kong hotel
market by providing stylish design supplemented by the revolutionary technology trend (Hotel
ICON, 2011).
An organization applying differentiation strategy may focus on providing unique product or
services which emphasizing on quality service, innovation as well as the revolutionary technology
trend (Allen Helms, 2006). By applying differentiation strategy, organizations usually could achieve
higher customer loyalty by providing customers unique and high quality services. They are also
likely to gain higher revenue because customers may be willing to pay more for the value added
experiences. Since Hotel ICON mainly adopts differentiation strategy, high technology elements are
involved throughout almost all aspects of Hotel ICON s operations, such as the

`` Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History ``
Multiple Meanings Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, in a scholarly article written in 1976, wrote that well
behaved women seldom make history (Ulrich XIII). Over time, that phrase has became a slogan
for feminists around the world. It appears on many products and media, like shirts, jewelry, and
even wine glasses. At the time she wrote it, she meant for it to mean that women who are well
behaved do not get their stories told, even if they did something extraordinary or heroic, though
now, people interpret it in many different ways. Fig. 1. Well behaved women seldom make history
shirt (Customized Girl). The most common product with the phrase well behaved women seldom
make history being sold on Amazon is, by far, shirts. There is a variety... Show more content on

This interpretation, compared to how Ulrich meant for the quote to be interpreted is quite
different. Ulrich wanted the quote to represent how women who do not do something bad,
rarely get their stories told, no matter how heroic their actions were, while the creators of this
shirt want women to speak out, to make change, and to create equality for everyone, which, by
some people, is seen as wrong for women to do. Although what the designers of this product
seem to be aiming for is different than what Ulrich originally meant for her quote, I am sure that
Ulrich still would support that message. Fig. 2. Well behaved women seldom make history
necklace (Amazon) Another product that stood out was a necklace. It is a bronze colored chain
with a round, white pendant, that is maybe an inch in diameter. The pendant has the quote well
behaved women seldom make history on it, with Laurel Thatcher Ulrich credited beneath it.
Similarly to the shirt, women and history are in a bigger font (see Fig. 2). It is being sold by a
seller called DSD, whose main products seem to be similar jewelry, many of which are small,
literature related products, with quotes from various books on them. This product, out of the three
analyzed here, is probably the closest to how Ulrich meant for her quote to be interpreted. It is a
small pendant that people are not going to be able to read

Living Conditions Of Auschwitz Essay
Living Conditions Aftermath of Auschwitz The prisoners held in the infamous Auschwitz
concentration camp went through an abundance of physical challenges, pain and suffering that no
human being should ever have to endure. What happened during the three years and four months
that the camp was running has brought countries together to realize just how unjust the entire
Holocaust was to minorities. SS officers would greet the Jews and Polish political prisoners,
which included elderly and children, by numbering them and sorting them for the torture they were
yet to go through. Prisoners either followed their orders or rebelled in hopes of it making a
difference. Families were torn apart, friendships were seemingly broken, and soon they were...

On the map, it was very close to the town of Oswiecim, Poland. This first part was for Polish
political prisoners. One man who had a personal experience as a Pole being held in Auschwitz is
Witold Pilecki. His story is very special, because he volunteered to be sent there. The idea that
Pilecki came up with was that he could hopefully begin a resistance movement and bring
knowledge back to the Polish army. After noticing Hitler and his enormous army seizing Poles
and forcing them to go to the death camp in his own country, he felt that it was his duty to take
action. Amazingly, he did escape and make it back home, later to write a book on his journey
titled The Auschwitz Volunteer: Beyond Bravery. Some may be under the impression that only
European Jews were held in concentration camps, but that is not the case. Just about one year
after the first Auschwitz camp was built, a second one was set up, which came to be the
memorable spot where millions of prisoners were immediately put to death in the gas chambers or
by the firing squad. This area went by the name of Auschwitz II, or more popularly Auschwitz
Birkenau. Next, there was a third and final addition, Auschwitz III (Monowitz) in 1942. After this,
Hitler and his many followers would have everything they needed to succeed in exterminating the
people they weren t in favor

The Applications Of Electromagnetic Waves
Applications of Electromagnetic Waves Electromagnetism involves the overall performance of
electric charges in different media, including in vacuum and in specific matter. This conduct can
be precisely portrayed by the Lorentz Transformation equations and and Maxwell s conditions,
which were obtained from trials demonstrating how forces acting on charges rely on upon the
relative areas and movements of different charges in its vicinity. Extra significant laws of
physical sciences incorporate Newton s law, photon quantization, and the preservation relations
for charge, energy, control, as well as power. Electromagnetic processes underlie a large portion
of the electrical in electrical designing and are fundamental to a sound comprehension of that
area of physics. Ever since Maxwell derived his famous equations, the doors opened up for
significant research into the application of electromagnetic waves in every day life (Becker
Selden 20). The most significant conclusion of Maxwell s theory was that electric fields and
magnetic fields are interrelated and travel together as a wave. Initially even though it was
assumed that these electromagnetic waves, including light, needed an ether to travel in space, it
was proved subsequently that such an ether did not exist and that all EM waves travel with the
same speed of 300000km/sec (Feynman et al 14). The branch of electrical engineering has
conveyed four wonders sets of marvels that could each be viewed as genuine

This provided me with the opportunity to experience a variety of teaching methods and philosophies utilized by educators. Also, my son attended eight different schools in various states that provided me with additional exposure to various teaching methods. By using my past experiences along with my current studies, I lean heavily towards an overall constructivist philosophy, though each of the philosophies commonly referenced has aspects that are beneficial to students learningalso. As Dewey, I believe in providing a classroom atmosphere that is democratically focused where students feel comfortable to communicate and express their opinions while respecting and listening to others. With this in mind, I plan to provide and facilitate many opportunities for students to converse and collaborate together while working on projects so students can learn to appreciate different perspectives. By providing students with a voice in the classroom, students can also participate in setting the goals and objectives of not only the lessons, but allows them to take responsibility for their personal learning and growth. Dewey also believed that students learned best through real life, hands on experiences that have meaning to the learner and previous experiences can be applied in new ways. Having faith in the wrong person could lead to unfortunate outcomes. In William Shakespeare s Othello, many characters are blinded by Iago s false personality, causing them to put their trust in someone who eventually makes them feel cheated and betrayed. After reviewing the term sociopath, defined as, a person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behaviour (English Oxford), one could say that Iagohas antisocial personality disorder. The traits Iago displays throughout the play, such as his use of manipulation, his abusive behavior toward others, his lack of remorse, and his deceitfulness make him a true sociopath. According to Mayo Clinic, a sociopath uses charm or wit to manipulate others for personal gain or personal pleasure (Mayo Clinic). Iago exhibits this characteristic by manipulating Roderigo for the whole duration of the play. He traps Roderigo in his web by making empty promises and choosing his words carefully, as seen in the following quote by Iago: I grant indeed it hath not appeared, and your suspicion is not without wit and judgment. But, Roderigo, if thou hast that in thee indeed, which I have greater reason to believe now than ever I mean purpose, courage and valor this night show it. Iago swiftly maneuvers out of this situation by telling Roderigo how his judgement is brave and now he believes that Roderigo will do whatever it takes to get Desdemona s love. Iago says that if Roderigo does not complete the plan, then he cannot try to kill him. The fooled Roderigo is shocked and is now completely loyal to Iago who barely got out of this bad situation using his manipulation skills. Later in the play, Roderigo finally recognizes that Iago has been taking advantage of him saying, O damned Iago! O inhumane dog! (5.1.74). Center based child care is dependable because you know the hours and days of operation will not change. Now we will talk about the disadvantages of a center based child care. There are more children to take care of since there will be larger groups. Having too many different caregivers or teachers may confuse the child and steer away from consistency. Center based tuition can be more expensive, especially when there are more than one child in the family. The businesses operating hours may be outside the normal parenting work hours which leave no flexibility for drop off and pick up. Also, if a child was to become sick, they would not be allowed to stay the remainder of the day, and cannot return based on their symptoms until they are well again. Another type of childcare is a family home based child care. This is when one teacher is caring for children in smaller groups. • 22. It s a Good Business by Solomon Summary of It s Good Business The author Robert Solomon argues that ethics has to an integral part with regard to business management. He does not believe that business management must include unethical or illegal methods to be able to succeed. Solomon preaches that business management is not as simple as obtaining revenue. Businesses need to abide by fair policies and their owners have to be ethical in dealing with their customers (Shaw p. 37). The author acknowledges that while illegal practices in business management could bring positive results at first, eventually the business is bound to fail. This is why Solomon recommended eight important policies that can help businesses in integrating ethics into their operations. Solomon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This way, businesses would really think twice with regard to getting involved in illegal transactions with other organizations. It is easy to understand Solomon s argument that unethical practices destroy the business and its key people. This has been proven by so many companies, such as Enron case, whose scandals have been unveiled to the public and the people who used to amass great wealth out of unethical practices are now behind bars. Even if they get out of prison, it will be difficult to imagine how they can recover from the negative image that the public already has on them. The problem with unethical practices is that a company itself is not the only one will suffer from the consequence of its illegal actions. Most of the time, there are customers who get victimized by these unethical practices as they put their trust and loyalty on businesses that they have patronized for so long. At the end of the day, all they can do is file their complaints and vent out their frustrations over the betrayal they experienced from their trusted businesses, but the damage remains permanent. The once excellent relationships are forever destroyed and victimized customers always carry with them the trauma and fear that they could be fooled again in the future. Unethical practices of business managements are also tough for the employees who get confused whether to do what is right or just avoid complications and go with the flow. Solomon states that ... Cohabitation is defined as two people living in the same household who are unrelated, and of the opposite sex (Kunz, 2012). There are many studies that state disadvantages to cohabitating, before marriage, but at the same time there are many studies stating little to no difference in cohabitating couples and couples who did not cohabitate before marriage. There are quite of few different types of cohabitationbefore marriage that Kunz (2012) lists her book. Premarital cohabitation has become immensely popular with the younger generations. In 1970 there were 500,000 cohabitating couples and in 2000 there were 7.5 million and that number is rapidly growing (Kunz, 2012). Statistics show that nearly two thirds of Americans will most likely cohabitate with a relationship partner before marriage (Gordon, 2012). Some researchers relate this to the rising divorce rate in America, coming in at nearly 50 percent of marriages, to cohabitation before marriage. This concept is called the cohabitation effect. A couple cohabitating before marriage is automatically associated with a higher risk for divorce. Although there have been studies denying these claims that cohabitating before marriage has a little effect on marriage stability, they have their exceptions. Kunz (2012) states that the cohabitation effect isn t as prominent as researchers originally thought. Its been shown that when a couple cohabitates before marriage, with the intent to marry in the future, they have equal experiences as a couple who did not cohabitate before marriage. The marriage stability and health of the couple did not differ. Here s where the studies and statistics that prove higher divorce rates and poor health come in. Firstly, Lutheranism is a major branch of Protestant Christianity which identifies with the theology of Martin Luther. Martin Luther (1483 1546) was a German monk, reformer, and theologian. Calvinism is the religious doctrines of John Calvin. Calvin stressed that people are saved through God s grace, not through their own merits. Calvinism, on the other hand, teaches that the presence of the body and the blood has been only spiritual. Calvinism teaches the absolute supremacy of God. The destruction was devastating, causing just under $10 billion in damage and an estimated $7 billion more in humanitarian aid. Although so much aid was sent to the affected areas, ten years later some of the areas are still suffering from the devastation. In 2008, according to the National Marine Fisheries Service, the commercial fish and shellfish harvest from the five U.S. Gulf states was estimated to be 1.3 billion pounds valued at $661 million. Oil spills are extremely harmful to marine life when they occur and often for years or even decades later, said Jacqueline Savitz, a marine scientist and climate campaign director at Oceana, an environmental group. Holy Communion is the most important of all the sacraments. It completes the Sacraments of Initiation. The bread and wine we receive at communion is the body and blood of Jesus. It becomes the bread and body of Jesus through Transubstantiation. Transubstantiation is the conversion of the substance of the Eucharistic elements into the body and blood of Christ at consecration, only the appearances of bread and wine still remain. We participate in the sacrament of communion to commemorate all that Jesus did for us and getting nailed to a cross so we can be free from sin and have eternal life in heaven. The Lord gave us the sacrament of communion on Holy Thursday at the Last Supper. After first washing the feet of the disciples, he then did the breaking of the bread. Jesus said Take, eat, this is my body after Jesus said this he did the same for the wine saying Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins . This shows us how Jesus himself is the bread and wine us Catholics receive at Holy Communion. Naylor continues to suggest the significance of open mindedness by providing the reader with the opportunity to choose more than one way to explain Mama Day s encounter with Bernice. Bernice decides to seek the advice of Mama Day, who is known to have miraculous healing abilities, when she has trouble conceiving. Mama Day gives Bernice pumpkin seeds and puts her under the impression that they are magic seeds (Naylor 96). This gives Bernice time to build ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Application of a Differentiation Strategy in an Organization Technology Strategic Analysis Porter defines cost leadership, differentiation and focus, as the basic business strategies for an organization to gain competitive advantages. An effective competitive strategy should be based on the organization s goals and objectives as well as the market situation (Allen Helms, 2006). Hotel ICON is an independent teaching hotel focusing on creative and innovative design and services. As the slogan Unlike Any Other illustrates, Hotel ICON strives to create a unique hotel experience for customers instead of a stereotype one that they can gain in most chain hotels. This indicates that the hotel is following a differentiation strategy to gain competitive advantages in the Hong Kong hotel market by providing stylish design supplemented by the revolutionary technology trend (Hotel ICON, 2011). An organization applying differentiation strategy may focus on providing unique product or services which emphasizing on quality service, innovation as well as the revolutionary technology trend (Allen Helms, 2006). By applying differentiation strategy, organizations usually could achieve higher customer loyalty by providing customers unique and high quality services. They are also likely to gain higher revenue because customers may be willing to pay more for the value added experiences. Since Hotel ICON mainly adopts differentiation strategy, high technology elements are involved throughout almost all aspects of Hotel ICON s operations, such as the ... • 41. `` Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History `` Multiple Meanings Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, in a scholarly article written in 1976, wrote that well behaved women seldom make history (Ulrich XIII). Over time, that phrase has became a slogan for feminists around the world. It appears on many products and media, like shirts, jewelry, and even wine glasses. At the time she wrote it, she meant for it to mean that women who are well behaved do not get their stories told, even if they did something extraordinary or heroic, though now, people interpret it in many different ways. Fig. 1. Well behaved women seldom make history shirt (Customized Girl). The most common product with the phrase well behaved women seldom make history being sold on Amazon is, by far, shirts. There is a variety... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This interpretation, compared to how Ulrich meant for the quote to be interpreted is quite different. Ulrich wanted the quote to represent how women who do not do something bad, rarely get their stories told, no matter how heroic their actions were, while the creators of this shirt want women to speak out, to make change, and to create equality for everyone, which, by some people, is seen as wrong for women to do. Although what the designers of this product seem to be aiming for is different than what Ulrich originally meant for her quote, I am sure that Ulrich still would support that message. Fig. 2. Well behaved women seldom make history necklace (Amazon) Another product that stood out was a necklace. It is a bronze colored chain with a round, white pendant, that is maybe an inch in diameter. The pendant has the quote well behaved women seldom make history on it, with Laurel Thatcher Ulrich credited beneath it. Similarly to the shirt, women and history are in a bigger font (see Fig. 2). It is being sold by a seller called DSD, whose main products seem to be similar jewelry, many of which are small, literature related products, with quotes from various books on them. This product, out of the three analyzed here, is probably the closest to how Ulrich meant for her quote to be interpreted. It is a small pendant that people are not going to be able to read ... • 42. Living Conditions Of Auschwitz Essay Living Conditions Aftermath of Auschwitz The prisoners held in the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp went through an abundance of physical challenges, pain and suffering that no human being should ever have to endure. What happened during the three years and four months that the camp was running has brought countries together to realize just how unjust the entire Holocaust was to minorities. SS officers would greet the Jews and Polish political prisoners, which included elderly and children, by numbering them and sorting them for the torture they were yet to go through. Prisoners either followed their orders or rebelled in hopes of it making a difference. Families were torn apart, friendships were seemingly broken, and soon they were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the map, it was very close to the town of Oswiecim, Poland. This first part was for Polish political prisoners. One man who had a personal experience as a Pole being held in Auschwitz is Witold Pilecki. His story is very special, because he volunteered to be sent there. The idea that Pilecki came up with was that he could hopefully begin a resistance movement and bring knowledge back to the Polish army. After noticing Hitler and his enormous army seizing Poles and forcing them to go to the death camp in his own country, he felt that it was his duty to take action. Amazingly, he did escape and make it back home, later to write a book on his journey titled The Auschwitz Volunteer: Beyond Bravery. Some may be under the impression that only European Jews were held in concentration camps, but that is not the case. Just about one year after the first Auschwitz camp was built, a second one was set up, which came to be the memorable spot where millions of prisoners were immediately put to death in the gas chambers or by the firing squad. This area went by the name of Auschwitz II, or more popularly Auschwitz Birkenau. Next, there was a third and final addition, Auschwitz III (Monowitz) in 1942. After this, Hitler and his many followers would have everything they needed to succeed in exterminating the people they weren t in favor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Applications Of Electromagnetic Waves Applications of Electromagnetic Waves Electromagnetism involves the overall performance of electric charges in different media, including in vacuum and in specific matter. This conduct can be precisely portrayed by the Lorentz Transformation equations and and Maxwell s conditions, which were obtained from trials demonstrating how forces acting on charges rely on upon the relative areas and movements of different charges in its vicinity. Extra significant laws of physical sciences incorporate Newton s law, photon quantization, and the preservation relations for charge, energy, control, as well as power. Electromagnetic processes underlie a large portion of the electrical in electrical designing and are fundamental to a sound comprehension of that area of physics. Ever since Maxwell derived his famous equations, the doors opened up for significant research into the application of electromagnetic waves in every day life (Becker Selden 20). The most significant conclusion of Maxwell s theory was that electric fields and magnetic fields are interrelated and travel together as a wave. Initially even though it was assumed that these electromagnetic waves, including light, needed an ether to travel in space, it was proved subsequently that such an ether did not exist and that all EM waves travel with the same speed of 300000km/sec (Feynman et al 14). The branch of electrical engineering has conveyed four wonders sets of marvels that could each be viewed as genuine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
