essential to its effective use. Research helps professionals identify and explore areas of concern or interest in addition to providing possible solutions
for known problems. The Delphi and quasi–experimental studies provide examples of research performed in library science.
The Delphi Study The Delphi study was developed by The RAND Corporation in the 1950s for the Air Force and was primarily used to forecast future

core CME library.
This study focused on gathering information on books from its expert panel and does exemplify several areas of a Delphi study. First, the researchers
nominated a panel to recruit experts and make sure the instruments used were clear. To reduce bias, any book or journal affiliated with a panel member
was eliminated. Demographics were noted by sub–groups, and each panel member was asked to rate his expertise. A minimum number of votes (10)
was used as a cutoff for books indicated as most helpful to novice learners. In addition, each panel member was asked to waive anonymity with names
published in the report. Forty–three members agreed.
The Quasi–experimental Study A quasi–experimental study is a subcategory of experimental design where randomization of participants is not
possible or not needed (Wildemuth, 2009). These studies occur in natural settings when limited control over the variables is possible. The
independent variable (treatment) is manipulated to see if a causal relationship exists (Haas & Kraft, 1984). Naturally occurring groups such as classes

Why I Am A University Library
Until recently, I had no idea that there was a such thing as a Young Adult Librarian. I had assumed that teaching would be the only job that would
allow me to talk about books and share my love of books with young adults; but then, one day I happened to stumble upon a blog ran by someone who
was sharing her experience as a Young AdultLibrarian and I knew instantly that I had found what I wanted to do with my life. At this point, I started
looking around for ways to be involved with my university library, just so I could have a taste of what it was like to work in a library setting. Since it is
a university library, I knew that my opportunity to deal with anything young adult would be pretty much non–existent, so I decided to just use the
opportunity to learn whatever I possibly could about librarianship. I spent the semester working with Collection Management and the Interlibrary
Loan office and I learned a little about the inner workings of those two areas, and a little about what it meant to be a librarian. I still have my heart
set on being a Young Adult Librarian in the end, and I know without a doubt that a career as a librarian is right for me.

EBSCOhost provides full text access to nearly 8,000 periodicals, including over 4,000 peer–reviewed journals. Information in EBSCOhost is from
current and authoritative journals, magazines, pamphlets, and newsletters. Full–text information is provided on a broad range of topics including
business, current affairs, criminal justice, health, and multi–cultural issues. Examples of periodicals unique to EBSCOhost include Accounting &
Finance, Education Economics, Educational Assessment, Creative Nursing, and Criminal Law. Results in EBSCOhost can be limited to peer–reviewed

I met Julie at the Homelessness in Berkeley panel that she moderated in September. I appreciated her discussion of the import of imagery, stereotypes,
and language in shaping our social structures and circumstances. For example, she explained that she said "people experiencing homelessness" instead

Growing up I was always told college was a must and it was very important for my career. Both of my parents have multiple master's degrees and
my mom has her doctorate. So college was always in the back of my mind. I was not the most studious student growing up. After graduation I tried
community college and it just was not for me. I got married at 19 and had children right after that. I had 4 children within 5 years. I worked a full
time at a decent job, but school never really was brought up. I moved to Idaho in 2009 and started a job at the Emmett Library in 2011. Schooling again
was really never brought up, even though I knew a job in libraries did usually require some type of schooling. I went for a 2nd job at the Middleton
Library in 2015. The director there told me she would like to see all of her employees who do not have a degree enrolled in some type of classes. I
started CSI fall of 2015 and graduated with an AA inLibrary Science in Spring of 2017. I decided if I wanted my bachelor's degree I better continue
now or else who knows if I would go back. I spoke again with the director at Middleton and asked her opinion about a bachelor's degree that would be

In most towns or cities, you will find a library; whether it contains "old–school features", including a card catalogue, a historian, and an old librarian
shushing you for talking too loud, or it features modern aspects, like usable iPads, eBooks, and lots of noise being made. The local library in my town
became my home as a child.
I enjoyed reading many books throughout my childhood, and there is no better place to read a book than a library, which had become my favourite
hobby. The book's release an exquisite ambiance, and I found it very comfortable and cozy. At home, I lived in poverty, in government housing, and
without any father figure in my family, but at the library, I could pretend none of that was actually happening, and I could lose myself in a book. I
soon spent so much time at the library as a child that I spent almost more time there than at my own house, which eventually led me to meet the
library director, Rachel Campbell. I found Rachel friendly, helpful, and little did I know, she would one day become my best friend, despite the
nineteen year age gap between us.
Once I grew to be around twelve years old, I would go into Rachel's office and discuss books with her, as nobody else really ever read the same
books that I did. Eventually, our discussions became not just about books, but about our lives. I learned that Rachel came from the same situation as
me, yet she had worked her way through the ranks to get a degree in Library Science. Relief washed over

These three important factors are such values that, to this day, they have a significant influence on Chinese culture. In addition to its rich culture and
values, this country has the honor of holding the largest population in the world. The current population of this country is 1,370,940,000. Their
population was growing at such a significant rate that following the year 1979, the country put in place the "One–Child Family" policy. The general

I am currently finishing my last semester of coursework at and will graduate in May 2016. I have uniquely tailored my coursework to meet my needs, specialize in my areas of interests, and prepare me to be successful scholar capable of working with diverse communities. I found Rachel friendly, helpful, and little did I know, she would one day become my best friend, despite the nineteen year age gap between us. Once I grew to be around twelve years old, I would go into Rachel's office and discuss books with her, as nobody else really ever read the same books that I did.
