Research plays a vital role in more deeply understanding library science. Thoughtful consideration of how evidence–based research is conducted is
essential to its effective use. Research helps professionals identify and explore areas of concern or interest in addition to providing possible solutions
for known problems. The Delphi and quasi–experimental studies provide examples of research performed in library science.
The Delphi Study The Delphi study was developed by The RAND Corporation in the 1950s for the Air Force and was primarily used to forecast future

core CME library.
This study focused on gathering information on books from its expert panel and does exemplify several areas of a Delphi study. First, the researchers
nominated a panel to recruit experts and make sure the instruments used were clear. To reduce bias, any book or journal affiliated with a panel member
was eliminated. Demographics were noted by sub–groups, and each panel member was asked to rate his expertise. A minimum number of votes (10)
was used as a cutoff for books indicated as most helpful to novice learners. In addition, each panel member was asked to waive anonymity with names
published in the report. Forty–three members agreed.
The Quasi–experimental Study A quasi–experimental study is a subcategory of experimental design where randomization of participants is not
possible or not needed (Wildemuth, 2009). These studies occur in natural settings when limited control over the variables is possible. The
independent variable (treatment) is manipulated to see if a causal relationship exists (Haas & Kraft, 1984). Naturally occurring groups such as classes
are generally used. The goal is "to produce reliable causal knowledge" (Haas & Kraft, p. 229). Internal and external validity are important to this

Safeguarding and promoting students' right to access information on diverse and controversial subjects is also another component of my future policy

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of the advancements of robotic technology in libraries. It provides a literature–based
background on the general state of robotics and adds insights related to the library setting. Additionally, it looks into the factors that libraries need to
consider when planning to acquire robots, including finances, staff and technical knowledge, space and charging facilities. Finally, it provides a quick
look at how this technology will affect both the libraries and communities. I. Introduction The concept of "robots" has been with humans for a long
time. From the "robot–knight" plan of Leonardo da Vinci to the automatons of Jacques de Vaucanson, to the robots created by several robotics
companies, people have demonstrated a fascination. The word robot came from the Czech word, "robota" which means "forced labor". In 1921,
writer Karel Capek used it in his play entitled Rossum's Universal Robots (R.U.R.). The credit for coming up with such term, however, goes to Josef
Capek, his brother. Presently, robot means a machine that performs complex actions, similar to humans or other animals; also a machine that can

Why I Am A University Library
Until recently, I had no idea that there was a such thing as a Young Adult Librarian. I had assumed that teaching would be the only job that would
allow me to talk about books and share my love of books with young adults; but then, one day I happened to stumble upon a blog ran by someone who
was sharing her experience as a Young AdultLibrarian and I knew instantly that I had found what I wanted to do with my life. At this point, I started
looking around for ways to be involved with my university library, just so I could have a taste of what it was like to work in a library setting. Since it is
a university library, I knew that my opportunity to deal with anything young adult would be pretty much non–existent, so I decided to just use the
opportunity to learn whatever I possibly could about librarianship. I spent the semester working with Collection Management and the Interlibrary
Loan office and I learned a little about the inner workings of those two areas, and a little about what it meant to be a librarian. I still have my heart
set on being a Young Adult Librarian in the end, and I know without a doubt that a career as a librarian is right for me.
It is important to realize that being a young adult can be difficult, there are so many new experiences and responsibilities that come with those years

I met Julie at the Homelessness in Berkeley panel that she moderated in September. I appreciated her discussion of the import of imagery, stereotypes,
and language in shaping our social structures and circumstances. For example, she explained that she said "people experiencing homelessness" instead
of "homeless people" to not label the person as if to define them by their circumstances. I would add that the latter phrase, like others of its ilk, can
serve to insidiously "naturalize" those structures that harm folks and thus seemingly absolve those of us with privilege within it of our duty to work to

My Community College
Growing up I was always told college was a must and it was very important for my career. Both of my parents have multiple master's degrees and
my mom has her doctorate. So college was always in the back of my mind. I was not the most studious student growing up. After graduation I tried
community college and it just was not for me. I got married at 19 and had children right after that. I had 4 children within 5 years. I worked a full
time at a decent job, but school never really was brought up. I moved to Idaho in 2009 and started a job at the Emmett Library in 2011. Schooling again
was really never brought up, even though I knew a job in libraries did usually require some type of schooling. I went for a 2nd job at the Middleton
Library in 2015. The director there told me she would like to see all of her employees who do not have a degree enrolled in some type of classes. I

colleges we come across many defects or limitations. We often discuss these among ourselves. And in course of these discussions, and as a result of

On the academic side an ideal college should have two kinds of rooms: lecture–rooms and tutorial rooms. Lecture–rooms should be large enough to
accommodate even two to three hundred students without crowding. In these days of amplifiers, large classes should offer no real difficulty. Only
three must be plenty of light and air to prevent stuffiness. The acoustic arrangements must be such as to put no undue strain on a lecturer's voice.
Tutorial rooms should be spacious enough to accommodate small classes of ten or fifteen students. Too many lectures are apt to become monotonous
and boring. It would be deal if the ground covered by a lecture broadly is once again reviewed in the tutorial classes in greater detail and with an eye

These three important factors are such values that, to this day, they have a significant influence on Chinese culture. In addition to its rich culture and
values, this country has the honor of holding the largest population in the world. The current population of this country is 1,370,940,000. Their
population was growing at such a significant rate that following the year 1979, the country put in place the "One–Child Family" policy. The general
purpose of this policy is to limit the size of the Chinese family. It should be noted that though its title states one child, in some cases families are
