Mat 540 Week 4 Case Study
The explanation for the answer to the given question is as follows: Hence, the current stock
available is 180 units. To find out the probability of the company running out of the stock of 180
units within a time of next 3 weeks, let s take z as a value that should be checked in the standard
deviation table in order to find the probability... Let us first find the value of z , for which we
should know the mean demand of the period of 3 weeks: So to do this we can assume that the
demand for week one is 65 units, for week two is 50 units and for week three is 45 units. Mean
Demand of the period of 3 weeks is equal to the Sum of mean demands of per week that
is,60+55+45 = 160 Now, let us determine the standard deviation for the period of 3 weeks, as it is
mentioned in question. So, lets instead find variance of per week, and take... Show more content on

Hence, First week difference = 60 55 = 5. Second week difference = 55 45 = 10. Third week
difference = 45 60 = 15. Variance for week one is 25. Variance for week two is 100.Variance for
week three is 225. (Since square of any negative number gives us a positive number). Hence,
variance of 3 weeks is equal to the Sum variance of per week that is, 25+100+225=350 Standard
Deviation of 3 weeks is equal to the Square root of the variance of 3 weeks that is, Square root of
350 = 18.71. Now that we have the found the mean and standard deviation of 3 weeks, let s find
z value by using the formula: Z = ( total value total mean ) / standard deviation that is,Z = 180
160/18.71 = 1.07. Now we have to check the value of 1.07 in the standard deviation table, On
checking we get the value as 85.77% this is probability that the units will be sufficient for the
period of next 3 weeks, Hence, the probability of the company running out of units = 100 85.77.
Therefore, the probability of the company running out of units is

The goal of this paper is to bring Linear Algebra and Digital Signal Processing together for
efficiently solving the applied signal processing problems. Linear Algebra tool box is created to
visualize the signal by just clicking and dragging the concerned module. In MATLAB and other
platforms, tapping of the signals cannot be done and conventional code has to be written for
solving the problem. GNU Radio is a freeware software for processing signals through which
tapping of signal can be done .The module is created in GNU Radio with predefined template and
the platform used here is C++.Further, the code is glued to Python using swig. The blocks are
created in order to estimate energy, check orthogonality, compute unit normalization, find Euclidean
norm of a signal and least square fitting. The end user can visualize the signal in various plots.
KEYWORDS: Linear Algebra, GNU Radio, MATLAB.

Types of Shock Essay
Describe the five different types of shock and include for each, its pathophysiology, clinical
manifestations and treatment.
Shock is described as life threatening medical emergency resulting from insufficient blood flow
through the body (Huether Mccance, 2012) There are five types of medical shock. These include
septic shock, anaphylactic shock, cardiogenic shock, hypovolemic shock, and neurogenic shock
(Huether Mccance, 2012). Septic shock results from bacteria that multiply in the blood and then
releases toxins that decrease blood pressure, thus, impairing blood flow to cells, tissues and organs.
It is an acute infection, usually systemic, that overwhelms the body (toxic shock syndrome)
(Huether Mccance, 2012). This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anaphylactic shock is also an emergency condition. Treatment can include intubation to open the
airway and assist in breathing, epinephrine shot, CPR, and antihistamine (Dugdale, 2012).
Cardiogenic shock is results from damage to the heart such as a heart attack. In cardiogenic shock
the heart is damaged and unable to supply a sufficient amount of blood to the body and the body
cells do not receive enough oxygen (Huether Mccance, 2012). Symptoms of cardiogenic shock are
chest pain or pressure, coma, decreased urination, fast breathing, fast pulse, heavy sweating and
moist skin, lightheadedness, loss of alertness and ability to concentrate, restlessness, agitation,
confusion, shortness of break, skin that feels cool to touch, pale skin color or blotchy skin, and/or
weak pulse (Dugdale, Cardiogenic Shock, 2012). Treatment of cardiogenic shock includes
medications to increase blood pressure sucj as dobutamine, dopamine, milirione, and more. Urgent
treatment includes electrical shock therapy (defibrillation or cardio version), implanting a
temporary pacemaker and medications given through the vein, pain medicine, oxygen, fluids, and
blood or blood products (Dugdale, Cardiogenic Shock, 2012). Cardiogenic shock

Prevalence Of Overweight And Obesity
The prevalence of overweight and obesity in children is increasing worldwide at an alarming rate
in both developing and developed countries.1 Obesity is associated with a heterogeneity of
metabolic abnormalities, e.g., dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, and hypertension
that may provide a plausible biologic link between obesity and the increased risk of cardiovascular
morbidity and mortality. Metabolic syndrome
(MS) has been defined as a cluster of risk factors for atherosclerosis that include insulin resistance,
dyslipidemia, abdominal obesity and often hypertension. The clustering of these risk factors for
cardiovascular disease (CVD) is referred to as (MS).2,3 Patients with MS are at increased risk of

A total of 60 obese children and adolescents aged 8 18 years;
38 boys and 22 girls were enrolled from attendants of pediatric genetic and endocrinology unit
and pediatric outpatient clinic of Menoufia University Hospitals, Egypt. Some female
adolescents especially from rural areas refuse to share in our study that is why we have higher
male: female ratio in our sample of patients 1.7:1. We included in our study both children and
adolescents to have a relatively larger sample of patients. Written consent had been taken from
every child included in the study or their participant parents. While collecting data, those who had
secondary or known genetic causes of obesity were excluded. Children and adolescents were
assessed carefully in terms of family history, blood pressure, and skin findings as acanthosis
nigricans.
Anthropometric assessments
All anthropometric measurements were taken with stress on body height and weight that were
measured in light clothes using a portable stadiometer. Body mass index (BMI) was calculated as
weight divided by the square of the height (kg/m2).

position was affirmed by H.R. 6893, that when parents may claim a qualifying child but do not and
another taxpayer may claim the qualifying child, that can only occur if that taxpayer s adjusted
gross income is higher than the highest adjusted gross income of either of the child s parents. In
summary, Van, doesn t qualify for head of household status on the basis of an individual who is a

Count Of Monte Cristo Betrayal
Many people betray DantГЁs, the protagonist in The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre
Dumas. Those who betray Edmond are motivated by jealousy and hatred. It is ironic how many
characters in the book do not like him because he is well liked by many people. Throughout the
novel the people DantГЁs thinks are his friends betray him and send him to prison but, he
manages to escape and take on a new look and personality with a newly acquired fortune, but the
betrayal does not stop there. His friends continue to betray him all the while not knowing who The
Count really is. In The novel The Count of Monte Cristoby Alexandre Dumas, Danglars is the
ultimate betrayer towards his friend Edmond DantГЁsbecause he writes a letter that puts DantГЁs
in the Chateau d If for an agonizing fourteen years and Danglars hates DantГЁs because he has a

Edmond has the job, the girl of his dreams, and he is very happy. Danglars hates that he has
everything he wants. He was as much disliked by the crew as Edmond DantГЁs was liked by
him (Dumas 2). This quote shows that Danglars is not liked at all compared to the wonderful
DantГЁs whom only jealous men disliked. Danglars knows he is not liked as Edmond is and
this drives his jealousy which causes him to betray DantГЁs. Yes , said Danglars, casting
DantГЁs a glance full of hatred, he s young and he has no doubts about anything (Dumas 3). This
quote bluntly displays how Danglars dislikes DantГЁs through the look of hatred and negative
comments about DantГЁs. Danglars dislikes Edmond because he is successful and he is jealous of
that and he will do anything to get rid of DantГЁs even send him to prison for the rest of his life.
All these things contribute to the motivation Danglars has to betray DantГЁs and ruin his

Eradication, Containment, Control And Mitigation
Eradication, containment, control and mitigation are the four main strategies for dealing with
established invasive species (Wittenberg Cock, 2001). The options for each management strategy
are varied based on the complexity of ecosystems, species richness, and climatic regions involved
(Huston, 2004). During the implement of managementprogramme, it is important to simultaneously
monitor the impact of the actions, as some native species can also be affected by newly
disturbances, the monitoring can identify negative unexpected results and allow us to change and
adapt the programme to new approaches and situations (Huston, 2004; Wittenberg Cock, 2001).
Eradication
The aim of eradication is completely eliminating one or more invasive species from an area and
provide the opportunity for complete rehabilitation of the habitat, and therefore eradication is
considered as the most effective strategy once the prevention methods have failed, despite the
actions are always costly and require full commitment and widespread support from the relevant
agencies and public until completion (Department of the Environment, 2016; Mack et al., 2000;
Wittenberg Cock, 2001). Eradication can be achieved by habitat management, and using of
mechanical, chemical and biological control (Wittenberg Cock, 2001). Eradication programme has
been used to eradicate the giant African snail (Achatina fulica) population in south Florida and
Queensland, various combinations of 12 mammal species from

The Effect Of Speed Pressure On Working Memory During...
Abstract
This study examined the effects of speed pressure on working memory during mental arithmetic
tasks. 392 undergraduate students working memory capacities were measured and participants
were divided into high and low working memory groups. They were then randomly assigned into
the fast or slow condition and tested with the critical stimuli compromised of addition equations.
The findings showed that fast conditions result in higher error rates than the slow conditions. The
speed pressure also caused high working memory individuals to shift from using rule based
processing to associative processing whereas low working memory individuals used associative
processing in both conditions. However, the study found that both groups show ... Show more

Previous studies (Beilock, 2008; Beilock, Kulp, Hot, Carr, 2004; Beilock Carr, 2005; Gimmig et
al., 2006; Beilock DeCaro, 2007) have examined choking under pressure and concluded that it
occurs for those with high working memory (HWM) capacities whereas low working memory
(LWM) individuals were not affected. Although this finding has been common amongst researchers,
each have examined different factors contributing towards pressure induced failure, in an attempt to
explain the phenomena and most accurately coincide with real life situations.
According to Beilock et al., (2004), explicit monitoring and the Distraction Theory are reasons as
to why skills may fail under pressure. Explicit monitoring, or self focus, causes the disruption of
automatic processes as individuals force conscious control over the task, causing poorer
performance despite the extra effort and attention (Beilock et al., 2004). In contrast, the Distraction
Theory claims that pressures fill the WM with worries and concerns over performance and task
content which in consequence competes with the resources which are normally utilised for
execution (Beilock et al., 2004). To date, most researchers have provided evidence in support for
explicit monitoring and its effects of choking under pressure whilst the Distraction Theory has not

Theories Of Domestic Violence
A therapist can help victims cope with their situation and work through the challenging emotions
they may have The number one reason domestic violence victims stay or return to an abusive
relationship is that they do not have access to financial resources to break free. Domestic violence
results in high turnover and absence at work, extended sick leaves, and losses of productivity
(Jones 12). Financial abuse is a method of controlling the victim. The abusers use isolating tactics,
such as preventing them from working, accessing bank accounts, credit cards, and forms of
transportation so that the victim is totally dependent on the abuser compromising their financial
liberties. It is difficult for a victim to seek help in situations where

The American General Election Cycle
With the American general election cycle in full swing, one of the fundamental issues in play is
the role of government. What is the place of Government? What should elected officials be
doing? Do they simply protect personal liberties, or do they also establish safeguards and
guidelines for various economic activities? Ask any two people and you ll likely receive two
different answers, so nuanced and complex is the issue. Policy can give incentives to business to
act a certain way both domestically and abroad. Tax incentives in one region may cause a corporate
to relocate (this happened to one of my favorite guitar manufacturers recently, as they moved
production from Canada to California!). A central bank s tweak in monetary policy to shift the cost
of lending could ultimately move interest rates for consumers looking to take out mortgages or
automobile loans. As we witnessed in 2008, the housing market is of international concern and a
large central bank wields enormous power. While we like to call the Western economy a free
market, there exists a multitude of government policies that impact the freedoms and movements of
the economy, for better or for worse. I will present two specific examples of government economic
intervention for your consideration, one that has helps economic activity and another that hurts it.
In the early 20th century, a heated Presidential race was underway between Taft, Wilson, and
Roosevelt. An important issue in this particular election was

Biopsychosocial and Biomedical Model of Health
Human beliefs about the causes of illness and injury vary from one era to another. In the Neolithic
times (c.a 8000 9000 b.c ), illness and injury being common phenomena s, were directly associated
to natural events manipulated by higher powers which also controlled climate changes and other
natural events. Overtime, healing ceremonies, songs, sacred objects, and incantations were
developed as means of pacifying the evil forces which were believed to cause diseases, and
illnesses. Then, during the period of intellectual development, ways of western medicinewas first

This supported Sigmund Freud s proposal of the idea of illness, which stated that, physical illness
such as blindness occurred due to stress, harmful social relationships and emotional problems.
However, before Modern Greek theorists studied about the mind and other bodily mechanisms, it
was for long believed that animating spirits governed human behavior, their actions and
functions. This belief was known as animism; overtime theories and laws regarding physical
elements evolved, these laws mainly spoke about inanimate objects while the belief that spirits
determined human behavior and actions remained only due to lack of evolution of better
explanations that could take over the theory of animism. Then came Hippocrates and Galen who
reformulated the idea and perception of illness and diseases which were previously attributed to
behavior as a result of evil spirit or demon possession.; by proposing that an imbalance of humors

Different Types Of Stresses From The Internal And External...
Throughout the lifetime of a living organism, it is exposed to many different types of stresses from
the internal and external environment. In order to maintain homeostasis, cells must be poised to
activate appropriate cellular stress responses to overcome the initial stress stimulus. Mitogen
activated protein kinase(MAPK) pathways are crucial among the major pathways that regulate stress
responses. There are six conserved and ubiquitous MAPK signalling pathways in mammalian
systems that coordinate and integrate responses to various stimuli. The architecture of each
pathway is conserved, with the core signalling module consisting of a phosphorylation cascade
which is mediated by three classes of proteinkinases: the MAPK kinase kinase (MAP3K), the
MAPK kinase (MAP2K) and the MAPK. Within this pathway, the MAP3K is activated or
inactivated by various stimuli resulting in the successive phosphorylation and activation of
MAP2K, which in turn phosphorylates and activates MAPK. Activated MAPK s then regulate the
appropriate cellular responses by activating or inactivating cellular targets, such as other protein

Tragedy In Romeo And Juliet
When Romeo and Juliet, teenagers of rivaling families, fall in love with each other on a
mysterious night, they have to hide their relationship from everyone they know or there d be
terrible consequences. In William Shakespeare s play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo
and Juliet meet a depressing fate as they both end up committing suicide over what started as a
rumor. Both Romeo s and Juliet s personalities play crucial roles in their ultimate destiny. Romeo
seems to be very impulsive because he acts without getting a chance to think about his actions.
After Mercutio, Romeo s close friend, is slain in a duel by Tybalt, Juliet s cousin, Romeo gets
insanely angered and goes on to kill Tybalt in a vicious fashion. He says Enough... Show more

At times, she can be extremely impatient, dependant and also really hasty. When the nurse went
to go talk to Romeo about him marrying Juliet, Juliet was being really impatient and cursing at
the nurse because she didn t come home yet. The quote I sent the Nurse at nine o clock. Maybe
she can t find him. That can t be. Oh, she s slow! Love s messengers should be thoughts, which
fly ten times faster than sunbeams. exhibits this quality in Juliet. In this line, you can see her
making a problematic situation from nothing and this trait really impacts their ultimate fate. For
example, when she discovered she was to be married to Paris, if she could ve waited for Romeo
to come to Verona, the whole double suicide could ve been avoided. When Juliet discovered that
her father made arrangements to marry her to Paris, she directly goes to Friar Lawrence for
advice, rather than thinking about it herself. Don t tell me that you ve heard about this marriage,
Friar, unless you can tell me how to prevent it. If you who are so wise can t help, please be kind
enough to call my solution wise. (she shows him a knife) . This quote proves that Juliet is not
mature enough to make her own choices, and this reflects on her final decisions because she just
killed herself without thinking about the consequences. Last but not least, Juliet s impulsive
behavior can be seen when she commits suicide

Dean Martin Was a Very Inspirational Person
Introduction
Dean Martin was a very inspirational person. If something was wrong he would find a way to fix
it and succeed. Dean was one of the most popular entertainers of all time. He was famous for his
comedy but mostly his success in singing. He was very famous in the rat pack.
Childhood
Dean Martin was born June 7, 1917 in Steubenville, Ohio. When he was born his birth name was
Dino Paul Crocetti. Dean was born to an Italian father, Gaetano, and an Italian American mother,
Angela Crocetti. Dean s father was an Italian from Montesilvano, in Abruzzo. His affectionate
grandparents origins are believed to also be from Abruzzo even if it is not clearly known. When
Dean was growing up he did have an older brother named Bill. Dean did only speak Italian until
he started school. Dean attended Grant Elementary School in Steubenville, Ohio. Dean was
ridiculed for his broken English and did not speak any English at all until he was five. He spoke
an old Abruzzi Italian dialect. When Dean was sixteen years old he dropped out of high school in
10th grade because he thought he was smarter than his teachers.
Dean then delivered stolen liquor, served as a underground illegal dealer, was a blackjack dealer,
worked in a steel mill, and boxed as a welterweight (a weight class in boxing.) When Dean was
fifteen he became a boxer. He billed himself as Kid Crochet . During his boxing days, he received a
broken nose which was straightened in the future. He also received a scarred lip,

Reflection About Globalization
Globalization is the expansion of global linkages and the organization of economic life on a
global scale. Looking back to when I was very young, globalization has impacted me in the sense
that I was learning two languages and associating myself with three different cultures. This is
because both my father and mother come from different countries and backgrounds, and my
father realized he would have greater opportunity studying in the United States being that it had
a better economy than Spain. As I grew up in Miami for the first 9 years of my life, many
cultures, traditions, and languages surrounded me. One of the main languages of Miami, and
my second language, is Spanish. I would say that if one does not know Spanish and is in Miami,
one is probably the not from there, because in Miami people will first speak to one in Spanish
and then if one looks unsure they will switch to English. Another significant group of people other
than Spanish speakers are other groups of the Caribbean Islands. Because there are people from
so many backgrounds in Miami the food is very diverse and authentic of many countries including
Cuba, Colombia, Argentina, and Jamaica. Having good friends from all of these places as a child, I
would delve into their cultureand foods and learn to accept their differences but also realize they are
not too different from our own. Although coming from different backgrounds my familydeveloped
many traditions that are not common in the United States but we shared with our friends, such as
eating the 12 grapes at midnight on new years, which is commonly a Spanish tradition.
As Miami developed and changed, my father s job changed too. My dad works as a pilot at
international airports, and he was first stationed at the Miami airport, which I would say is the
most hectic international airport I have been to. We moved to Fort Worth when they transferred
him to the DFW International Airport, in this move I realized the change in scenery and people.
Coming from a more southern and commonly polite background, people were not so
straightforward and rude as people in Miami were. Although my good friend group in Fort Worth
was very diverse, the area that I lived in mostly consisted of people from one

Response To Stress
When it comes to the factors that influence our response to stress, there are many and it involves
many and multiple organs and glands controlling both the endocrine and nervous system. These
two systems coordinate and communicate to make sure that our bodies know how to effectively
deal with challenges, but not so much to the point of hyper arousal or otherwise incapacitating
anxiety. However the act of balancing the two is tricky and both our brain and body do not always
get it right. This arousal though is necessary to ready our bodies for taking action. As we become
more aware in response to our stressors, our attention sharpens and our alertness increases.
Meanwhile other aspects fade into the background, such as the environment. The narrowed

What Does The Water Symbolize In The Wizard Of Oz
Lions and tigers, and bears, oh my! is a well known quote from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,
written by L. Frank Baum. Even though the book was published in 1900 most people are aware of
this quote or of the famous Dorothy. This book helps people realize that confidence lies within.
Throughout the story much symbolism is shown through Dorothy s shoes, the lions missing
courage the tin man s missing brain and the scarecrow missing a heart. Throughout the story The
villains are the Wicked Witch of the West and the Wicked Witch of the East. Theses witches used
their power to control and capture their subjects. The Wicked Witch of the West represents West
America, which included the wealthy railroad, oil barons, and nature. The West America s was
going through the drought in the 19th century. The droughts lasted longer than any other natural
disaster and sometimes long enough to ruin a whole year s worth of crops. Therefore, water was
the weapon to save the crops and as the story symbolizes kill the Wicked Witch of the West.

Teachers Union History
Abstract
Unions in America and globally are facing declining numbers compared to thirty years ago.
Specifically, the teacher s union are losing members due to work trends changing and political
agendas. For unions to maintain their members they must adapt to current issues and partner

everything in their power to avoid employees seeking union representation. In this paper, we will

How Does Headgear Affect Soccer Players
Headgear Can Help Reduce Injuries in Soccer`1 4% 20% of all injuries in soccer are head
injuries. Concussion and head injuries are a big part of soccer, many younger players should
have to wear protective headgear while playing. Also, many of these head injuries that players
sustained during soccer can affect them for the rest of their life with things such as CTE. Even
though many people don t want to change the game of soccer, at a certain age players should have
to wear headgear if they want to head the ball because the brain damagekids can get from heading
the ball can affect them for life, and it would decrease the amount of concussions the sport has
per year. Concussions have been a big part of soccer for a while now, but have only come into

With so many head injuries and no protection the game is more dangerous than many think. For

JUST ONE DRINK
JUST ONE DRINK is an intriguing, seductive thriller. The script is driven by themes about evil,
revenge, redemption, and forgiveness. It explores the idea that one can never escape their past.
While there are engaging elements of the script with a potentially complex character in the role of
Tamara, overall the script would benefit from more development, especially in the area of structure,
pace, tension, as well as further character development.
First, the story opens in the past to set up the backstory. It s a creative choice to do this, but not
essential. The backstory can be revealed through dialogue or through the grandmother s journal.

Costs McCrae, (1995) supported the development that each of the Five Factor Model (FFM) further
split into six facets, (Widiger Costa, 2012). The five factor model and their six facets are explained
as: Extraversion (E) gregariousness, sociability, affiliation, dominance, boldness and forcefulness,
Agreeableness (A) generous, cooperative, altruistic and warm, Conscientiousness (C) responsible,
efficiency, dependability, carefulness and organization, Neuroticism (low ES) anxiousness,

Toni Morrison and Historical Memory
Most of literature written by American minority authors is pedagogic, not toward the dominant
culture, but for the minority cultures of which they are members. These authors realize that the
dominant culture has misrepresented minority history, and it is the minority writers burden to
undertake the challenge of setting the record straight to strengthen and heal their own cultures.
Unfortunately, many minorities are ambivalent because they vacillate between assimilation
(thereby losing their separateness and cultural uniqueness) and segregation from the dominant
culture. To decide whether to assimilate, it is essential for minorities to understand themselves as
individuals and as a race. Mainstream United States history has dealt with the... Show more content

This interest in the past is integral to the ways in which alternative cultures oppose and subvert
the dominant culture that has historically both repressed and assimilated them (Singh 18).
Morrison s fiction is based upon actual historical events; however, she goes much further by
utilizing the concept of rememory that she values. Morrison has developed and written about
different types of memory in her novels including rememory, disrememory and social or
collective memory. Social memory is an expression of collective memories and experiences of
individuals who are members of larger groups (families, neighborhoods, communities and
cultures). This collective memory is a source of historical knowledge which provides a cultural
group with material for conscious reflection. (Fentress, 26). Through social memory, groups are
identified as having a common history. Collective memories are considered true memories because
as a group they present multiple witnesses of a single past. Social memory can be documented, but
sometimes there is no written source. However, the significance of social memory lies in the fact
that the members of the group believe the memory to be true. Oftentimes, an individual s memory
can become hazy over time; however, the combination of several similar

Romeo And Juliet Last Scene Essay
I chose the last scene of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the death scene of Romeo
after he sees Juliet die , as the material I wanted to transform using Grotowski s influence for my
solo theatre piece . I felt that this particular scene really involved the use of raw emotion. The
general tone of this particular scene is quite somber and dark, as Romeo sees his loved one dead
, and there is an overall sense of longing as Romeo relives the moments him and Juliet shared
together, as well as longing for their once strong bond and her presence. I decided to write my
own monologue from Romeo s perspective based on the scene, and to preserve the main ideas and
story of the scene to a large extent, whilst tweaking the original content... Show more content on

After doing so I decided to take a slightly different perspective on the scene, where as well as
outlining the despair of Romeo and the longing he feels for Juliet, I would outline other feelings
not explored in the actual scene such as the regret (and possible short term satisfaction) he felt in
killing Tybalt and Paris who he felt were tearing them apart. Because of this I felt an emphasis
on voice, physicality and raw emotion, which Grotowski pushed to bring out in his theory of
Poor Theatre , would suit this scene greatly. In addition, this feeling of regret, anger and hatred
he feels after killing the two would enable me to create an uneasy, dark atmosphere for the piece.
I read a monologue based on the last scene and used it as a stimulus for my devised monologue .
I also watched a theatre production on YouTube based on that very scene of Romeo and Juliet to
understand the story better while developing further ideas about how to form the piece. This was
a dark interpretation of the last scene, and it helped me form the idea of setting the play in a
graveyard where Juliet was buried while I addressed her as if she was alive and reindulged in
Romeo s memories with

Prompt 3: The central conflict of the book Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides is gender identity which
is shown through Calliope s struggle with determining and accepting her true gender as a
hermaphrodite. The conflict also affects other characters as it causes grief, confusion, and leads to.
Calliope s first encounter with her gender identity crisis was when she develops feelings and
sexual attraction to the Object which is stated in Jerome knew what I was, as suddenly I did,
too, for the first time clearly understood that I wasn t a girl but something in between. I knew this
from how natural it had felt to enter Rex Reese s body, how right it felt, and I knew this from the
shocked expression on Jerome s face (375). The experience of having intercourse with Jerome
and fantasizing being in Rex s position shows that Calliope isn t just a female but something in
between and that adds more to her suspicion and confusion of her actual gender. This also affects
other characters as it leads up to Calliope having a sexual relationship with the Object which
reveals the Object s true feelings towards Calliope and her actual sexuality. She also has another
encounter with her gender identity when she discovers that she s biologically a boy who had
been raised as a girl. In the file by Dr. Luce, it describes Calliope s condition with the description

Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows Essay
Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows
Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows is a satirical reflection of the English social
structure of the late nineteenth century, during a time of rapid industrialization throughout Europe.
Also considered a children s story, this novel conveys Grahame s belief in the ability of one to
live an unrestrained and leisurely life, free of the obligations of the working class, and entitled to
this life through high social status and wealth. The River Bank characters, especially Toad,
represent those who live this idle life of the upper class. In contrast, the stoats and weasels of the

It is these types of qualities that seem to define the character of Toad as more memorable than
the others are, and outline the typical image of those people from the upper class. His self
centeredness is blatantly displayed in the songs Toad sings to himself while returning home
(117 and 121). His ignorant and judgmental attitudes are recurring. To the lady kindly giving him
a ride, after she discovers his lies, he shouts, You common, low, fat barge woman! Don t you
dare talk to your betters like that! (112). He also thinks very lowly of the washerwoman in prison,
who ironically saves his life (84 5). He assumes a great many things and, perhaps innocently and
unknowingly, insults people whose opinions differ from his own, as is the case in speaking with
Rat on page 16:
Now, you dear good old Ratty, said Toad imploringly, don t begin to talking in that stiff and
sniffy sort of way, because you know you ve got to come. I can t possibly manage without you,
so please consider it settled and don t argue it s the one thing I can t stand. You surely don t mean to
stick to your dull fusty old river all your life, and just live in a hole in a bank, and boat? I want to

element of comic relief present while Toad remains oblivious to it himself, not

Jacqueline Förster Case Entitlement
Case Note Case C 158/07 Jacqueline Förster v Hoofddirectie van de Informatie Beheer Groep
Förster Judgment Facts of the case The Förster judgment concerns the legal dispute between
the student Jacqueline Förster and the Executive Board of the IB Groep. Förster was a German
national who moved to the Netherlands for her studies. During her studies she worked to support
her living costs and was able to receive a study grant from the IB Groep, an administrative body.
The IB Groep annulled the maintenance grant with respect to the period from July to December
2003 and requested that Förster repay the excess sums. Ms. Förster brought an action before
Alkmaar District Court. That action was held to be unfounded on two grounds. First, Ms. Förster
could no longer be regarded as a worker since she had not had any real and genuine employment
during that time period. Second, Ms. Förster could not claim entitlement to a maintenance grant
because she had not been integrated into Dutch society. Ms. Förster appealed against that
judgement before the Centrale Raad van Beroep. She claimed that she was already sufficiently

Compare And Contrast Alternative Family And Nuclear Family
The nuclear family vs. alternative family structure
Initially a picture of a nuclear family would best describe a so called family but today alternative
family structure is increasing because of the changing nature of families. This is due to things such
as technology, changing structure of families e.g. women entering workplace and divorce rate that
cause s initial structure to be broken down as people live as they please. In this essay nuclear family
structure verses the alternative family structure will be discussed through sociological imagination.
A family is a group of people that are interlinked through blood, the law (marriage), co residence or

The Split Brain Procedure
Our brain is divided into two halves or hemispheres. The left hemisphere specializes in language,
words, understanding and reasoning while the right hemisphere is associated with spatial
awareness and creativity. Split brain is a term used to describe the result when the corpus
callosum connecting the two hemispheres is severed either partially or completely. Before the
proceeding with the surgical procedure, the patient s head is either partially or completely
shaven in order to gain easier access to the scalp. Once they are under general anesthesia, the
surgeon makes an incision, which allows for a craniotomy to be performed. A craniotomy is an
operation that allows for the temporary removal of part of the bone from the skull to expose the
brain. For a partial callostomy, the anterior two thirds is sectioned, but the posterior one third is
sectioned as well for a complete callostomy. After sectioning, the dura is closed and a portion of the
cranium is replaced.
The split brain procedure was primarily done in order to stop epileptic seizures. Epileptic episodes
can range from a short loss of consciousness to severely thrashing arms and legs uncontrollably.
Scientists and researchers are now aware of the fact that seizures are caused by an abnormal
discharge of electrical impulses throughout the brain that interrupts normal brain patterns. They
were also able to figure out that severing the corpus callosum prevents the electrical discharge from
dispersing through the

Handwriting Recognition Essay
The one feature that got the most attention and strongly influenced its demise was its handwriting
recognition capability. In all message pads, handwriting recognition was the basis of data input to
many of the built in applications and functions. According to Professor Luckie, this handwriting
recognition depends solely on Paragraph International Inc. s Calligrapher recognition engine.
Calligrapher technology was limited by the dictionary of words to which it has access (Luckie,
n.d.). This shows that if you write a word that doesn t exist in the dictionary, then Calligrapher is
not going to recognize it correctly and often suggests funny but incorrect phrases as the user wrote.
Even though the limitation of the Calligrapher recognition partly contributed to the demise of
MessagePad, Apple was able to rescue Newton during the release of the second generation OS
(Newton 2.0 OS). This software brought the MessagePad back to the technology it was intended to
be by introducing the new printed handwriting recognition engine. Professor Luckie, in his website
that documents the evolution of Newton OS describes how the engineers at Apple had developed a
letter by letter handwriting reorganizer that could only recognize printed text (Luckie, n.d.). The
printed text recognizer in OS 2.0 requires no dictionary or handwriting learning period. It only
requires separated printed characters to analyze.
Both handwriting recognition engines were innovative systems that adapted to the

Explain How Social Class Is A Big Factor In Determining...
In today s society people have different life chances depending on what social class they are born
into. In this essay I will be exploring how social class is a big factor in determining life chances.
For example, you are more likely to receive a better education if you go to a private or public
school, which only the middle/upper classes can afford. The only way a working class student
could afford the fee paying schools is through a scholarship. This is clearly unfair as scholarships
are very competitive and people who can afford to pay for private/public schools apply for them as
well. This shows that social classhas a big factor in determining life chances, because if you have a
middle/upper class upbringing you can essentially pay to have a better life.
Life chances can also be influenced by material deprivation; such as catchment areas. In deprived
areas there are many social problems such as; high unemployment, poverty, juvenile delinquency,
crime, drug abuse and poor role models. This can have a negative effect on a child education as
they could rebel against school and fall into a pupil subculture. Also, people with more money tend
to go to better free schools due to catchment area and can prevent a person from going to a better
school.
If you look at life chances from a working class perspective, we have to look at the work of Karl
Marx. Marx believed that the working class are forced to sell their labour power to the capitalists
since they own no means of

The Benefits Of Electronic Medical Records
Introduction The benefits of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) significantly outweigh the
disadvantages, when it comes to the nursing care of patients in multiple settings. There have been
multiple studies proving the enhancement and efficiency of nursing care in various areas, when
electronic documentation is properly taught and utilized. Likewise, there is evidence supporting the
reliability of the documentation, after comparing nurses verbal accounts of previously recorded
information. When the programs used in electronic documentation are continually evaluated for
completeness, accuracy, and quality, they become excellent tools for legislation. Electronic medical
records present many advantages to the nursing care of a vast majority of patients, and also help
uphold satisfactory legal and ethical implications of nursing documentation. Body (Review of
Literature) Bruylands, Paans, Hediger, MГјller Staub (2013) provide evidence of electronic health
records improving the nursing process. The purpose of their study was to assess the effectiveness of
electronic nursing documentation, when it was and was not coupled with an instructive program.
The experiment sampled electronic nursing documentation over time, and ranked the groups in
terms of accurateness of the nursing process. It was shown that groups who were provided with
continual education had a substantially higher accuracy, when it came to using the nursing process.
While all groups benefited immensely from the

Narrative Essay About Being Jewish
Insert Title Sometimes I wonder what it s like not to know. Not to know that you have
something in common with only 15 million other people around the globe. Not to know that no
matter what you do, you re different. Not to know that people want to kill you for what you
believe. Well, now I know what it s like. What it s like to be Jewish. My story begins a day
before it happened. In hindsight, I remember that day vividly. The baby blue sky was filled with
rolling mountains of white. Birds chirped and butterflies flapped their wings. However, off in the
distance, the white turned to grayish black and the sky, rather than the serene feeling around
Temple B nai Jehudah, was eerie. In hindsight, this was an omen of things to come. But at the
moment, I wasn t worried about any of that. I was just worried about getting to my youth group
on time. Ben! Hurry up! My agitated mother called to me as I hurried to unfasten my seatbelt and
gather my crumpled, haphazard Hebrew folder. I stumbled out of the car and hurried into the
temple s open glass doors. My class was about to begin, and the other fifth graders looked at me
quizzically as I hurried in. After that, everything was normal. That... Show more content on

But I know that I still do the right thing by not giving in. Things have come full circle, in an eerie
sort of way. This summer I worked as a summer camp counselor at my synagogue. One day, much
like that chilly Saturday youth group, we got pulled aside and told the synagogue was on
lockdown. We had to continue as normal and not act scared; it wasn t just for our sake, but the
kids as well. I didn t feel an ounce of fear, not then, not after when I learned there was a shooter
targeting our synagogue and when he was apprehended, he wasn t fifteen minutes away from us.
They say hindsight is twenty twenty. I look back and see where I was coming from. But I know
the dangers are real. And knowing that makes me

Planning For A Strategic Planning
Strategy Planning
Planning means to look ahead and chalking out future courses of action to be followed. It is a
preparatory step. Planning is an important function of management. In the absence of planning, all
the business activities of the organization will become meaningless. It determines how and who is
going to perform a specific job. Planning is about identifying and selecting appropriate goals and
courses of action; one of the four principal take of management (Bethel University, 2006). Planning
is always done for the future. Each goal should have financial and human resources projections
associated with its completion. Each goal should have tasks or projects associated with its
achievement. Strategic planning determines where an organization is going. It serves as framework.
The most two important task that need to be done before a strategic planning. You need to review
the organization and review the internal functions within the organization.
Prioritizing goals and tasks is about ordering objectives in terms of their importance. It is clear
that planning selects the best alternative out of the many available. Strategy is a cluster of
decisions about what goals to pursue, what actions to take, and how to use resources to achieve
goals (Bethel University, 2006). Strategy is about planning to reach a vision which differentiates a
company from its competitors in a positive way. As a result of its importance to the business or
company, strategy is generally

Whole Foods Vs Juicing
The health benefits of juicing and whole fruits Juicing is a way for people to increase their fruit
consumption. Some people don t like it because the extra turns into pulp. For some nutrients,
almost 100% of the original nutrient quantity ends up in the pulp. You could add some pulp
back in to help the nutrient loss, but few people don t like to add the pulp back in it. Fruit juices
or juices high in sugar are not good choices for diabetics because too much of the whole food
fiber and related nutrients have been removed, which concentrates the sugar. Since most fruits
go into the juice making process they would be eaten as a whole food. When you drink the juice,
you are getting that portion of the residue. According to George Mateljan and his book the world
s healthiest foods, some of the information is from this and people s opinions. So as you read
you will find out everything you need to know about the health benefits of juicing or eating whole
foods. Juicing can have a routine place in a healthy meal plan, some people feel like you should

Some people say that juicing is better for you than eating whole fruits and vegetables because
your body can absorb the nutrients better and it gives your digestive system a rest from working
on fiber. They say that juicing can reduce your risk of cancer, boost your immune system, help
you remove toxins from your body, aid digestion and help you lose weight. All of that might be
true but as you can see eating I whole is so much better, but within this essay you can see that it is
not so healthy to drink juiced juice. You should never think that drinking juice is better than eating
it whole. For the better of anybody they should eat the fruit whole so than can have the advantage
to gain every ounce of fiber and nutrients. Everybody s nutrients, calories, and their body are very
important to them so you should eat whole

Whose Pacific Rhetorical Analysis
In the article Whose Pacific? U.S. Security Interests in American Samoa from the Age of Empire to
the Pacific Pivot, Holger Droessler asserts that Samona should be taken into consideration because
it represents the bigger picture of the history of US imperialism in the Pacific, the various afterlives
in the present and the impact that imperialism has on its future. He analyzes what led to the
perception that the South Pacific became a region vital to trade, political and military power.
Furthermore, he examines how these perceptions change throughout the 20th century. Finally, he
describes about how Samoans fight against the imperialistic perspectives and ever since the island
became a territory, was not interested in their people than its... Show more content on

Navalism further changes the perception of how the Pacific was because it encourages the Pacific
to be more militarily fortified because there was imperialism in other countries too like France and
Great Britain. As a result, the Pacific became focused on power acquisition rather than its people.
The Samoans tried to get rid of the imperialistic perspective by protesting that they have no
interracial marriages, unequal pay and benefits for the Samoan police guards, and have decided to
form a copra boycott which shuts down the naval government. Congress reacted to the protest by
making the territory into legal status. Furthermore, after the Samoans realized the consequences of
the Organic Act, they rejected it due to the consequences which it has on communal landholding.
Finally, the Samoans resisted the imperial system by advocating an antimilitarist activist
organization which tells the US military to be held responsible for the sexual assaults and the
violence that the US military caused them to face. Holger concludes by empathizing that analyzing
the imperial past and changing its ways can lead to a more democratic

Tay Sachs Essay
Imagine that there is a disease that is terrible and causes trouble for you every day, there is no
cure, there is only the dragging on of day after day. This is Tay Sachs Disease, it is a disease that
is lifelong, that is, unless it kills you early on in life. This disease has lots of symptoms. These
symptoms are a result of how the disease affects the brain and its functionality. This disease is an
inherited disease, and is known as a serious genetic disease.( Health and Wellness Resource center
and Alternative Health Module ). This disease is a autosomally recessive disease that is caused by
a defect in the HEXA gene which provides instructions for making part of an enzyme called beta
hexosaminidase A, which is critical in the brain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

causing serious and life threatening complications. ( Student Resources in Context Tay Sachs

symptoms are so serious and normally result in the death of the person that has this disease. The
person doesn t necessarily die from the actual disease sometimes, it can actually be from
complications caused by this disease. 1 in 3600 Jewish infants are born with Tay Sachs disease.
( Student Resources in Context Tay Sachs World of Health.Gale,2007.Student Resources in

recessive disease that has to be inherited through parents that either have the disease or are both
carriers. Parents can be carriers and not even know it because this disease is recessive so both
recessive alleles have to be present in order for the disease to show itself. Interestingly, 1 in 27
eastern European Jews are carriers for this disease. ( Student Resources in Context Tay Sachs

1980, Bruce Springsteen released a song called Hungry Heart . This song is a very gloomy in a
sense. Bruce tells us a story about man who impulsively leaves his family and moves away.
These lyrics Everybody needs a place to rest/Everybody wants to have a home/ Don t make no
difference what nobody says/ Ain t nobody like to be alone/ tells us that the man has regretted
what he had done and wants to be back home. A very emotional song and the message I got from

sadness and his views on life itself. Some of these songs turned out to be big hits, and certainly

in the songs made us feel what they felt, especially in the The River . Dystopia Dystopia is
considered to be an imaginary place or a state where everything in it is unpleasant or bad. A text
that we have covered in this class that relates to dystopia is Rumble Fish . This story deals with
characters who are struggling through their lives. The city and everything around them seems to

Heat Waste Of Lightbulbs Lab Report
Heat Waste of Common Lightbulbs
Introduction
The purpose of my experiment was to see how much energy was wasted in different types and
wattages of lightbulbs through the output of heat. The initial objective of the project was to
research the variety of lightbulbs available on the market today including their wattage and other
important features pertaining to their operation before starting the experiment. The reports
provided information that first helped me to formulate a plan to calculate heat energy, measured in
calories. I was then able to subsequently convert the heat energy into joules which is a more
commonly used unit of energy. This was accomplished by multiplying the amount of calories
produced through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data also shows that CFL bulbs were a very close second in the amount of wasted heat
energy per watt.. This was expected because the CFL bulbs, like the LEDs, do not need to heat up
something to cast light. The results of this experiment can be used in many different practical
situations. For instance, when setting up a light source near something that could easily catch on
fire, it would not be a good idea to use one of the bulbs that give off a lot of heat energy. Also, if
you want to use the most efficient bulb, you should consider the one that turns most of the energy it
uses into light energy like the LED

  • 2. Mat 540 Week 4 Case Study The explanation for the answer to the given question is as follows: Hence, the current stock available is 180 units. To find out the probability of the company running out of the stock of 180 units within a time of next 3 weeks, let s take z as a value that should be checked in the standard deviation table in order to find the probability... Let us first find the value of z , for which we should know the mean demand of the period of 3 weeks: So to do this we can assume that the demand for week one is 65 units, for week two is 50 units and for week three is 45 units. Mean Demand of the period of 3 weeks is equal to the Sum of mean demands of per week that is,60+55+45 = 160 Now, let us determine the standard deviation for the period of 3 weeks, as it is mentioned in question. So, lets instead find variance of per week, and take... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, First week difference = 60 55 = 5. Second week difference = 55 45 = 10. Third week difference = 45 60 = 15. Variance for week one is 25. Variance for week two is 100.Variance for week three is 225. (Since square of any negative number gives us a positive number). Hence, variance of 3 weeks is equal to the Sum variance of per week that is, 25+100+225=350 Standard Deviation of 3 weeks is equal to the Square root of the variance of 3 weeks that is, Square root of 350 = 18.71. Now that we have the found the mean and standard deviation of 3 weeks, let s find z value by using the formula: Z = ( total value total mean ) / standard deviation that is,Z = 180 160/18.71 = 1.07. Now we have to check the value of 1.07 in the standard deviation table, On checking we get the value as 85.77% this is probability that the units will be sufficient for the period of next 3 weeks, Hence, the probability of the company running out of units = 100 85.77. Therefore, the probability of the company running out of units is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shock is described as life threatening medical emergency resulting from insufficient blood flow through the body (Huether Mccance, 2012) There are five types of medical shock. These include septic shock, anaphylactic shock, cardiogenic shock, hypovolemic shock, and neurogenic shock (Huether Mccance, 2012). Septic shock results from bacteria that multiply in the blood and then releases toxins that decrease blood pressure, thus, impairing blood flow to cells, tissues and organs. Cardiogenic shock is results from damage to the heart such as a heart attack. In cardiogenic shock the heart is damaged and unable to supply a sufficient amount of blood to the body and the body cells do not receive enough oxygen (Huether Mccance, 2012). Symptoms of cardiogenic shock are chest pain or pressure, coma, decreased urination, fast breathing, fast pulse, heavy sweating and moist skin, lightheadedness, loss of alertness and ability to concentrate, restlessness, agitation, confusion, shortness of break, skin that feels cool to touch, pale skin color or blotchy skin, and/or weak pulse (Dugdale, Cardiogenic Shock, 2012). Treatment of cardiogenic shock includes medications to increase blood pressure sucj as dobutamine, dopamine, milirione, and more. Urgent treatment includes electrical shock therapy (defibrillation or cardio version), implanting a temporary pacemaker and medications given through the vein, pain medicine, oxygen, fluids, and blood or blood products (Dugdale, Cardiogenic Shock, 2012). Eradication, Containment, Control And Mitigation Eradication, containment, control and mitigation are the four main strategies for dealing with established invasive species (Wittenberg Cock, 2001). The options for each management strategy are varied based on the complexity of ecosystems, species richness, and climatic regions involved (Huston, 2004). During the implement of managementprogramme, it is important to simultaneously monitor the impact of the actions, as some native species can also be affected by newly disturbances, the monitoring can identify negative unexpected results and allow us to change and adapt the programme to new approaches and situations (Huston, 2004; Wittenberg Cock, 2001). Eradication The aim of eradication is completely eliminating one or more invasive species from an area and provide the opportunity for complete rehabilitation of the habitat, and therefore eradication is considered as the most effective strategy once the prevention methods have failed, despite the actions are always costly and require full commitment and widespread support from the relevant agencies and public until completion (Department of the Environment, 2016; Mack et al., 2000; Wittenberg Cock, 2001). Eradication can be achieved by habitat management, and using of mechanical, chemical and biological control (Wittenberg Cock, 2001). Abstract This study examined the effects of speed pressure on working memory during mental arithmetic tasks. 392 undergraduate students working memory capacities were measured and participants were divided into high and low working memory groups. They were then randomly assigned into the fast or slow condition and tested with the critical stimuli compromised of addition equations. Although this finding has been common amongst researchers, each have examined different factors contributing towards pressure induced failure, in an attempt to explain the phenomena and most accurately coincide with real life situations. According to Beilock et al., (2004), explicit monitoring and the Distraction Theory are reasons as to why skills may fail under pressure. Explicit monitoring, or self focus, causes the disruption of automatic processes as individuals force conscious control over the task, causing poorer performance despite the extra effort and attention (Beilock et al., 2004). In contrast, the Distraction Theory claims that pressures fill the WM with worries and concerns over performance and task content which in consequence competes with the resources which are normally utilised for execution (Beilock et al., 2004). To date, most researchers have provided evidence in support for explicit monitoring and its effects of choking under pressure whilst the Distraction Theory has not been adequately ... • 16. The American General Election Cycle With the American general election cycle in full swing, one of the fundamental issues in play is the role of government. What is the place of Government? What should elected officials be doing? Do they simply protect personal liberties, or do they also establish safeguards and guidelines for various economic activities? Ask any two people and you ll likely receive two different answers, so nuanced and complex is the issue. Policy can give incentives to business to act a certain way both domestically and abroad. Tax incentives in one region may cause a corporate to relocate (this happened to one of my favorite guitar manufacturers recently, as they moved production from Canada to California!). A central bank s tweak in monetary policy to shift the cost of lending could ultimately move interest rates for consumers looking to take out mortgages or automobile loans. As we witnessed in 2008, the housing market is of international concern and a large central bank wields enormous power. • 20. Different Types Of Stresses From The Internal And External... Throughout the lifetime of a living organism, it is exposed to many different types of stresses from the internal and external environment. In order to maintain homeostasis, cells must be poised to activate appropriate cellular stress responses to overcome the initial stress stimulus. Mitogen activated protein kinase(MAPK) pathways are crucial among the major pathways that regulate stress responses. There are six conserved and ubiquitous MAPK signalling pathways in mammalian systems that coordinate and integrate responses to various stimuli. The architecture of each pathway is conserved, with the core signalling module consisting of a phosphorylation cascade which is mediated by three classes of proteinkinases: the MAPK kinase kinase (MAP3K), the MAPK kinase (MAP2K) and the MAPK. Within this pathway, the MAP3K is activated or inactivated by various stimuli resulting in the successive phosphorylation and activation of MAP2K, which in turn phosphorylates and activates MAPK. Activated MAPK s then regulate the appropriate cellular responses by activating or inactivating cellular targets, such as other protein kinases or transcription factors. Due to the position of MAP3K s at the apex of the core signalling module , it is important to understand their regulatory mechanisms as the MAPK pathway is dependent on their activation. Apoptosis signal regulating kinase 1 (ASK1) is a MAP3K family member. This MAP3K is activated in response to a host of cellular stress stimuli, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As I grew up in Miami for the first 9 years of my life, many cultures, traditions, and languages surrounded me. One of the main languages of Miami, and my second language, is Spanish. I felt that this particular scene really involved the use of raw emotion. The general tone of this particular scene is quite somber and dark, as Romeo sees his loved one dead , and there is an overall sense of longing as Romeo relives the moments him and Juliet shared together, as well as longing for their once strong bond and her presence. I decided to write my own monologue from Romeo s perspective based on the scene, and to preserve the main ideas and story of the scene to a large extent, whilst tweaking the original content... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After doing so I decided to take a slightly different perspective on the scene, where as well as outlining the despair of Romeo and the longing he feels for Juliet, I would outline other feelings not explored in the actual scene such as the regret (and possible short term satisfaction) he felt in killing Tybalt and Paris who he felt were tearing them apart. Because of this I felt an emphasis on voice, physicality and raw emotion, which Grotowski pushed to bring out in his theory of Poor Theatre , would suit this scene greatly. In addition, this feeling of regret, anger and hatred he feels after killing the two would enable me to create an uneasy, dark atmosphere for the piece. I read a monologue based on the last scene and used it as a stimulus for my devised monologue . I also watched a theatre production on YouTube based on that very scene of Romeo and Juliet to understand the story better while developing further ideas about how to form the piece. The experience of having intercourse with Jerome and fantasizing being in Rex s position shows that Calliope isn t just a female but something in between and that adds more to her suspicion and confusion of her actual gender. This also affects other characters as it leads up to Calliope having a sexual relationship with the Object which reveals the Object s true feelings towards Calliope and her actual sexuality. She also has another encounter with her gender identity when she discovers that she s biologically a boy who had been raised as a girl. In the file by Dr. Luce, it describes Calliope s condition with the description As the girl s gender identity was firmly established as female at that time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows Essay Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows Kenneth Grahame s The Wind in the Willows is a satirical reflection of the English social structure of the late nineteenth century, during a time of rapid industrialization throughout Europe. Also considered a children s story, this novel conveys Grahame s belief in the ability of one to live an unrestrained and leisurely life, free of the obligations of the working class, and entitled to this life through high social status and wealth. The River Bank characters, especially Toad, represent those who live this idle life of the upper class. In contrast, the stoats and weasels of the Wild Wood resemble the proletariat, and an animosity between these two classes existed. The lower classes of the ... It is these types of qualities that seem to define the character of Toad as more memorable than the others are, and outline the typical image of those people from the upper class. His self centeredness is blatantly displayed in the songs Toad sings to himself while returning home (117 and 121). His ignorant and judgmental attitudes are recurring. To the lady kindly giving him a ride, after she discovers his lies, he shouts, You common, low, fat barge woman! Don t you dare talk to your betters like that! (112). He also thinks very lowly of the washerwoman in prison, who ironically saves his life (84 5). He assumes a great many things and, perhaps innocently and unknowingly, insults people whose opinions differ from his own, as is the case in speaking with Rat on page 16: Now, you dear good old Ratty, said Toad imploringly, don t begin to talking in that stiff and sniffy sort of way, because you know you ve got to come. I can t possibly manage without you, so please consider it settled and don t argue it s the one thing I can t stand. You surely don t mean to stick to your dull fusty old river all your life, and just live in a hole in a bank, and boat? I want to show you the world! I m going to make an animal out of you, my boy! Jacqueline FГ¶rster Case Entitlement Case Note Case C 158/07 Jacqueline FГ¶rster v Hoofddirectie van de Informatie Beheer Groep FГ¶rster Judgment Facts of the case The FГ¶rster judgment concerns the legal dispute between the student Jacqueline FГ¶rster and the Executive Board of the IB Groep. FГ¶rster was a German national who moved to the Netherlands for her studies. During her studies she worked to support her living costs and was able to receive a study grant from the IB Groep, an administrative body. The IB Groep annulled the maintenance grant with respect to the period from July to December 2003 and requested that FГ¶rster repay the excess sums. Ms. FГ¶rster brought an action before Alkmaar District Court. That action was held to be unfounded on two grounds. First, Ms. FГ¶rster could no longer be regarded as a worker since she had not had any real and genuine employment during that time period. Second, Ms. FГ¶rster could not claim entitlement to a maintenance grant because she had not been integrated into Dutch society. Ms. FГ¶rster appealed against that judgement before the Centrale Raad van Beroep. She claimed that she was already sufficiently integrated into Dutch society to be able to claim a maintenance grant. • 40. The Split Brain Procedure Our brain is divided into two halves or hemispheres. The left hemisphere specializes in language, words, understanding and reasoning while the right hemisphere is associated with spatial awareness and creativity. Split brain is a term used to describe the result when the corpus callosum connecting the two hemispheres is severed either partially or completely. Before the proceeding with the surgical procedure, the patient s head is either partially or completely shaven in order to gain easier access to the scalp. Once they are under general anesthesia, the surgeon makes an incision, which allows for a craniotomy to be performed. A craniotomy is an operation that allows for the temporary removal of part of the bone from the skull to expose the brain. For a partial callostomy, the anterior two thirds is sectioned, but the posterior one third is sectioned as well for a complete callostomy. After sectioning, the dura is closed and a portion of the cranium is replaced. The split brain procedure was primarily done in order to stop epileptic seizures. Epileptic episodes can range from a short loss of consciousness to severely thrashing arms and legs uncontrollably. Scientists and researchers are now aware of the fact that seizures are caused by an abnormal discharge of electrical impulses throughout the brain that interrupts normal brain patterns. They were also able to figure out that severing the corpus callosum prevents the electrical discharge from dispersing through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Handwriting Recognition Essay The one feature that got the most attention and strongly influenced its demise was its handwriting recognition capability. In all message pads, handwriting recognition was the basis of data input to many of the built in applications and functions. According to Professor Luckie, this handwriting recognition depends solely on Paragraph International Inc. s Calligrapher recognition engine. Calligrapher technology was limited by the dictionary of words to which it has access (Luckie, n.d.). This shows that if you write a word that doesn t exist in the dictionary, then Calligrapher is not going to recognize it correctly and often suggests funny but incorrect phrases as the user wrote. Even though the limitation of the Calligrapher recognition partly contributed to the demise of MessagePad, Apple was able to rescue Newton during the release of the second generation OS (Newton 2.0 OS). This software brought the MessagePad back to the technology it was intended to be by introducing the new printed handwriting recognition engine. Professor Luckie, in his website that documents the evolution of Newton OS describes how the engineers at Apple had developed a letter by letter handwriting reorganizer that could only recognize printed text (Luckie, n.d.). The printed text recognizer in OS 2.0 requires no dictionary or handwriting learning period. It only requires separated printed characters to analyze. Both handwriting recognition engines were innovative systems that adapted to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Explain How Social Class Is A Big Factor In Determining... In today s society people have different life chances depending on what social class they are born into. In this essay I will be exploring how social class is a big factor in determining life chances. For example, you are more likely to receive a better education if you go to a private or public school, which only the middle/upper classes can afford. The only way a working class student could afford the fee paying schools is through a scholarship. This is clearly unfair as scholarships are very competitive and people who can afford to pay for private/public schools apply for them as well. This shows that social classhas a big factor in determining life chances, because if you have a middle/upper class upbringing you can essentially pay to have a better life. Life chances can also be influenced by material deprivation; such as catchment areas. In deprived areas there are many social problems such as; high unemployment, poverty, juvenile delinquency, crime, drug abuse and poor role models. This can have a negative effect on a child education as they could rebel against school and fall into a pupil subculture. Also, people with more money tend to go to better free schools due to catchment area and can prevent a person from going to a better school. If you look at life chances from a working class perspective, we have to look at the work of Karl Marx. Marx believed that the working class are forced to sell their labour power to the capitalists since they own no means of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Benefits Of Electronic Medical Records Introduction The benefits of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) significantly outweigh the disadvantages, when it comes to the nursing care of patients in multiple settings. There have been multiple studies proving the enhancement and efficiency of nursing care in various areas, when electronic documentation is properly taught and utilized. Likewise, there is evidence supporting the reliability of the documentation, after comparing nurses verbal accounts of previously recorded information. When the programs used in electronic documentation are continually evaluated for completeness, accuracy, and quality, they become excellent tools for legislation. Electronic medical records present many advantages to the nursing care of a vast majority of patients, and also help uphold satisfactory legal and ethical implications of nursing documentation. In hindsight, I remember that day vividly. The baby blue sky was filled with rolling mountains of white. Birds chirped and butterflies flapped their wings. You could add some pulp back in to help the nutrient loss, but few people don t like to add the pulp back in it. The Samoans tried to get rid of the imperialistic perspective by protesting that they have no interracial marriages, unequal pay and benefits for the Samoan police guards, and have decided to form a copra boycott which shuts down the naval government. Congress reacted to the protest by making the territory into legal status. Furthermore, after the Samoans realized the consequences of the Organic Act, they rejected it due to the consequences which it has on communal landholding. Finally, the Samoans resisted the imperial system by advocating an antimilitarist activist organization which tells the US military to be held responsible for the sexual assaults and the violence that the US military caused them to face.
