In The Waiting Room Essay
In the Waiting Room can be argued to be both the most discussed poem and the best poem of
Bishop s. To her horror, the Elizabeth in the poem discovers that she is an I and one of them
(PPL150). This thought, which is precipitated by numerous things, especially Aunt Consuelo s
oh! and the horrifying breast of the women in the waiting room s copy National Geographic,
plunges her into despair about society s order (PPL 149). In a way, this poem expresses both the
awakening of oneself as a person and the awakening to their sexuality. Elizabeth is terrified of
things that are associated with women, breast, a cry of pain, and as such she is forced to realize
that she is a womanas well and, potentially, has the same fate as them.... Show more content on

Ostriker encourages the readers not to be shy as Bishop both yearns for and fears the erotic,
experiences it as actual or potential pain, and produces screens to disguise the experience (241).
These early works and their position on her childhood provide insight into Bishop s life, especially
of her love of women, despite being indirectly about her sexuality. As such, these hidden ideas in
her poems should be explored by the readers because it helps us to better understand her. The
poems Bishop had published later in life, namely Insomnia, The Shampoo, One Art, and finally
Sonnet, deal more with her reluctance to expose her sexuality than discovering it as she does in
these earlier poems.
Of the fourpoems listed above, Insomnia is the most concealed in terms of sexuality. Without
proper insider knowledge, this poem could easily be overlooked, but its use of the term inverted
signals to people that she is talking about her lesbian identity (PPL 54). Without the in group
knowledge, Bishop can hide her discussion of sexuality in this poem which is otherwise freely
discussed. The last stanza imagines the world inverted where you love me and ultimately states
that Bishop wants a world like this (PPL 54). Ideas of gender roles and how they interact with
sexuality causes Bishop to hide her true thoughts and feelings and only in an inverted world can she
thrive. Still, as Harrison points out the tone in this poem is both bitter and defiant.

The Importance Of Reasoning In Critical Thinking
Society today requires individuals to develop skills to make informed, thought driven decisions,
rather than quick hasty decisions, in many situations both personally and professionally. Decisions
like these are made based on critical thinking skills that are not inherited but developed through
many years of training both of the mind and of one s thoughtprocesses. Understanding how thinking
occurs and analyzing the thought processes are steps that critical thinkers use on a daily basis
(Paul Elder, 2012). In addition, according to Celuch Slama (2000), critical thinking is essential to
lifelong learning and is developed through improved reasoningand communication skills.
Oftentimes, reasoning and thinking are used interchangeably; however, reasoning represents the
higher order thinking skills (Paul Elder, 2012). Accordingly, thinking can be conscious or
unconscious; however, reasoning is always conscious and requires logic (Difference Between
Thinking and Reasoning, 2016). Understanding the eight elements of reasoning associated with
developing intellectual traits, is important for critical thinking (Paul Elder, 2012). Reasoning
always has a purpose which in turn is the goal or objective of the thought (Paul Elder, 2012).
Developing a budget for Christmas shopping to prevent overspending is an example of reasoning
with a purpose. Questioning or trying to figure out a problem is another element of reasoning
(Celuch Slama, 1999). Asking ourselves questions,

The Alamo In Blood And Memory Summary
A Line in the Sand: The Alamo in Blood and Memory . Randy Roberts, James S. Olson. New
York: Simon and Schuster New York, January 22, 2001. 356.
Events in history are unchangeable, once they have happened there is no way of changing the past.
However, what can change is the perception of such events which in turns changes the sentiment.
When Randy Roberts and James S. Olson wrote A Line in the Sand: The Alamo in Blood and
Memory they changed the way the events of The Alamo could be viewed and thus exposing some
truth about the events that lead to what is known as the greatest battle in Texas independence history
. Some key ideas I kept in mind while reading this book and also writing this review include what

Randy Roberts graduated from Louisiana State University in 1978 and has been a distinguished
professor at Purdue for several years. Author of many books including Joe Louis: Hard Times
Man and A Team for America: The Army Navy Game that Rallied a Nation . His books are,
naturally, stories of important events in American history and the impact it had and continues to
have on the nation. James S. Olson, also a distinguished historian, graduated from Brigham
Young University with a BA in 1967 then went on to receive his PhD from New York University
in 1972. Olson also received a Pulitzer Prize nomination for his contribution to academics. He is
now a remarkable professor at Sam Houston University and has written acclaimed novels such as
The United States in the Twentieth Century. Vol. 1 and 2: America and co authored several novels
with Roberts. John Wayne: American and Where the Domino Fell: America and Vietnam are just
a few of many notable books they have worked on together. Roberts and Olson also tend to pull
information from several different sources such as other historians that have researched and
specialize on this topic and along with prominently known scholars close to them. This kind of
research can make their novels, such as, A Line in the Sand: The Alamo in Blood and Memory a
factual tell of events with new questions towards the events that pertain to the battle of the Alamo.
Generally speaking, I believe these two professors know exactly what happened in history during
this time and are very qualified to write a novel on this

Divorce And Its Effect On Children
In society today, divorce is more the custom than it has ever been before. There are countless
causes for divorce as there are people who split up. There are numerous dynamics that subsidize to
divorce, such as financial issues, substance abuse by a partner, irresponsibility of one or both
parties, sexual carelessness, the effortlessness of receiving a divorce, and several other reasons.
Divorce is the result of a marriagethat is confronted with complications that appear undefeatable,
an incapability to cooperate, relationships growing at a distance, material misuse, a religious
conviction that forgives annulment, authorized simplicity of obtaining a divorce, the cheapness
of receiving a divorce and additional influences. Divorce destroys not only a marriage, but
families and children involved too. Divorce causes further problems in the future for families and
children. The effect of divorce can even lead to additional physical and mental abuse, rebellious
children, and even health problems. In a technological based society it is natural to want to keep
up with the newest gadgets gizmos. Men working longer hours and women doing the same to
obtain the newest fashion can cause relationship separation. Money and your financial situations
can cause stress and more pressure on working more hours for hope of relief of financial burdens.
Economic issues are numerous causes of divorce and have harmful effects. Financial issues can lead
to major stress and emotional issues that

Ned Stark s Game Of Thrones
My boyfriend recently got me into the show Game of Thrones. Before we started dating, I had
been stuck on season one forever, and I am not entirely sure why I was unable to move past it.
Looking back now, I think it had to do with somehow knowing it was going to be an amazing
show that deserves a significant amount of commitment and attention. However, when I was
finally able to grant the show the attention it deserves, I discovered something incredible. In the
first season s finale, the beheading of main character Ned Stark triggers a series of complications
for the show s plot. With the head of the Stark family gone, Ned s eldest son, Robb Stark, is

as news of Robb s vengeful endeavors become known to the public, Robb s archenemy Tywin

strategies. However, Robb fools experienced war leaders such as Tywin by utilizing
unconventional battle tactics. For example, by tricking Tywin Lannister about his location, Robb

The Process and Factors of Wound Healing
Introduction
The skin, the biggest organ in the human body, has several vital functions, including sensation,
thermoregulation, protection and synthesis of vitamin D. Nurses would like to be knowledgeable
concerning what is thought of to be healthy skin (Pringle and Penzer2002). This is very important,
as the condition of the skin might typically be a sign of underlying disease (Casey 2002). Changes
within the skin may be one among the first indicators of an underlying health downside. Injury of
either the epidermis or the dermis can cause systemic infection, increased morbidity, increased value
of care, and negative psychosocial consequences (Schindler, Kuhn, Christopher, Conway, Ridling
Simpson; 201one).
Wound healing is a dynamic, interactive method involving soluble mediators, blood cells,
extracellular matrix, and parenchymal cells. Wound healing has three phases: the inflammatory
section, the proliferative part, and the maturational or transforming phase. These phases could
overlap in time (Porth, 2011).
Inflammatory Phase
The inflammatory part starts at the time of injury with the formation of a blood clot and therefore
the migration of phagocytic white blood cells into the wound web site. The primary cells to arrive,
the neutrophils, ingest and take away bacteria and cellular debris. When twenty four hours, the
neutrophils are joined by macrophages, that still ingest cellular debris and play a necessary role in
the production of growth factors for the

My Experience Abroad
What was the best part of your experience abroad?
I don t have enough positive words to describe my experience abroad. Being forced to adapt to a
different academic style made me grow as a student, and being exposed to different cultures has
opened me up to a world I never could have imagined. I was fortunate enough to travel to many
different European countries during my time abroad, and each one was more incredible than the
last. I think the best part of my experience abroad was living in London. I absolutely loved city
life. The tube has to be one of the world s greatest inventions, and it s incredible how small and
homey such a big place can feel when everything is easily connected.
What did you dislike about it?
Overall, my experience abroad was amazing. If I had to pick something to complain about, it would
likely be the third party program that I was a part of. Many students, along with myself, experienced
communication issues with the program provider, and the company didn t often accept
responsibility for the mistakes that they made throughout my time abroad. That being said, these
incidents didn t affect my experience enough that I regret choosing their program. I think in the
future, I would just advise other students to ask more questions and get everything in writing to
avoid these problems.
How has your study abroad experience contributed to your development academically and
personally?
While studying at City, University of London, I was fortunate

Imperialism In The Congo Research Paper
In the Congo, many people were affected by Imperialism in many different ways. For some
people were shamed, had curfews, and some were often banned from white people
establishments. Therefore, it was like segregation to the Congolese people. They had religion
forced onto them by the Roman Catholic and some Protestant Churches. However, they gained
formal education systems and slowly improved their healthcare. The government even sponsored
teaching a handful of languages in the schools. When imperialism first hit, the Congo
experienced withdrawal of resources due to lack of farming, therefore having a small population
was vital to the Congolese people would support themselves. It was not until after the Congo
gained their independence back, did the population start to grow back. Sadly, among the small
population in the Congo, most were receiving callus treatment from Leopold and many died in
war, or from starvation, slavery, and also disease. Since there was a withdrawal of resources, the
Congo built railroads and mines. In doing so, it created more jobs for the Congolese people.

Definition Of Income Inequality
In my opinion, one of the most controversial topic in the recent election was Income Inequality. The
real reason people are unable to talk others into believing them when they argue on the Income
Equality is because not everyone knows the correct definition of Income Inequality. Income
inequality means unequal distribution of household and income in the economy. Income inequality
is also presented as the percentage of income to a percentage of the population ( Income Inequality )
which means the difference between the amounts of money each family spend on themselves. On
the other hand, economic inequalityis measured among groups in the population or between
countries. (Wikipedia, Economic inequality ) In my opinion, income inequality is a problem that
is faced by every country, but it is not a problem that should be tackled immediately. The rich are
money making machines. Today, the top mega wealthy the top 1% earn an average of $1.3
million a year. It s more than three times as much as the 1980s, when the rich only made $428,000;
on average... Meanwhile, the bottom 50% of the American population earned an average of
$16,000 in pre tax income in 1980. That hasn t changed in over three decades (Long, Inequality in

Double Standards In The Importance Of Being Earnest
Oscar Wilde, playwright of the play The Importance of Being Earnest, uses the relationships and
interactions of his characters to satirize the moral beliefs and customs of Victorian Era England.
Wilde s play follows the life of Jack Worthington who is trying to earn the approval of his
fiancee, Gwendolen s, mother in order to marry her. Lady Bracknell s disapproval stems from
the ambiguity of Jack s birthright, despite him being a wealthy man. Her disapproval serves as a
mockery to Victorian society and its upheaval of social status and wealth above love and
companionship as the basis of marriage. This is seen again when, despite her initial refusal, Lady
Bracknell allows her nephew, Algernon, to marry Jack s ward Cecily after hearing of her vast
wealth. Her approval of this relationship further mocks the Victorian belief that monetary gains is
the most important aspects when considering marriage. With these two separate... Show more

Despite Cecily being orphaned just like Jack, because she is a girl with wealth and status, she is
held at a lower standard than Jack, a man of her same caliber, when Lady Bracknell is mulling over
the prospect of marriage. With this situation, Wilde reveals the double standard of Victorian society
that still lasts until this day. This double standard also relates to marrying up into wealth. Lady
Bracknell, despite coming from an impoverished background, is allowed to marry a wealthy and
aristocratic man. But when Jack asks to marry Gwendolen, he is subjected to a lengthy interview in
which he must prove that he has enough wealth to support her. Again, Wilde puts his characters into
common Victorian England situations to mock the practice involving marriage, wealth and status.
Wilde manages to provoke thought into his readers and audience to question the values they grew
up learning about through the actions and interactions that his characters must face to reach their

expectancy is roughly 6 10 more years (Data ranges over different countries) than males. Beginning
the experiment, one of the subject s parents was asked to sit down with the subject s teacher at that
time and together rate the subjects personality with a given 25 trait dimension. Now that all of the
participant s dispositions were categorized accordingly, the next step was to create equations that
would evaluate a person s life expectancy at different points in their lives. Although several analyses
were made during this experiment, the focal one was the hazard regression analysis. This analysis
calculated mortality rate at all different ages by closely relating it to the personality dimension of the
participant (Friedman, Tucker, Tomlinson Keasey, Schwartz amp; Wingard, 1993). After running

Bearded Hercules
Throughout history, many civilizations have risen and fallen carrying along with them their
perspectives and beliefs manifested in works of art. All civilizations have erected monuments to not
only prove they existed, but because they believed they would remain permanently. The Ancient
Greeks were no different, portraying their ideal standards of beauty and proportion into their
sculptures. Their ideal perception of adulation represented the highest form of perfection,
comparable to the infinite impeccability of their gods and goddesses ( ). Evidently, the Ancient
Greeksideals served as a prerequisite that transcended into the ideals of their successors, the Ancient
Romans. The Marble Statue of a Bearded Hercules exemplifies the emergence of unique Roman
standards intertwined with the praised idealism of the Ancient Greeks.
The Romans were heavily influenced by the Greeks, as Greek art was engrossed by the Romans

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Nelson Mandela.
Education is a necessity to living and to how you do things in general. Without education you

Overview of Consumer Behavior
Consumer Behavior
Introduction
Engel (1986) define consumer behavior as those acts of individuals directly involved in obtaining,
using and disposing of economic goods and services, including the decision processes that precede
and determine these acts . The present paper is a reflective journal based in which three different
marketing activities have been selected and analyzed from the perspective of their influence on
consumer behavior.
Entry 1
The Marketing Activity
This is a Rolex advertisement in which the company used Tennis Star for the marketing of their
brand. Marketing through Celebrities is very common as people like them and idealize these star
whether they are sports persons, actors and actresses or other celebrities. The advertisement has
been compiled on the qualities of the tennis star. Thus it is not only the advertising of Rolex but
also the star himself.
Concepts
Situational Context
A situation is defined as factors or something over and above the characteristics of a person and
product (Pachauri, 2002). Kakkar and Lutz (1981) pointed out that situational effects might be
behavioral (for example, entertaining friends), experimental, or perceptual (for example, being
depressed or being pressed for time). Therefore consumer behavior is influenced by both extrinsic
and intrinsic factors (Davis and Bagozzi, 1992). The advertisement was placed in a sports event
which has both entertaining value and experimental. Another aspect is involving celebrity

William G Morgan Research Paper
Bump, set, spike! In 1985, William G. Morgan, was the creator of what is now known as
volleyball. When he first invented the game, it was called mintonette. The idea behind volleyball
was to merge basketball, baseball, tennis, and handball, with the purpose of making a game that was
less physical than basketball. He then took the net of a tennis court and made it higher and started to
play. His next step was to find the perfect ball to play volleyballwith, he tried a basketball bladder
which was too slow and light, the he tried a basketball which turned out to be too heavy and hard.
Therefore, Morgan decided to have a company make the perfect ball for volleyball. They ended up

This all started around the 1900, when volleyball reached Canada, which was the first foreign
country to play volleyball. In about ten years China, India, Japan, Philippines, Mexico, South
America, Europe, and African Countries were already starting to play volleyball.
In 1916, the NCAA, invited by the YMCA, was asked to fix the guidelines of volleyball.
Therefore, volleyball was both added to schools and physical educational classes in lower
education schools. The following year the game was changed from twenty one points to only
fifteen. Three years a couple more rules were added to game, they could only have three hits per
side, and many back row attacher rules were put in place.
In 1922, the very first championships were played, it was directed by the YMCA, where eleven
states were represented and played. This was the beginning of the true growth of competitive
volleyball. Many years later, in 1949, the first national championship was played in Czechoslovakia.

game whole and function. But, if it wasn t for William Morgan, volleyball would not exist right

Military Prostitution During Japan s Imperial Rule
Many historians have addressed the issue of military prostitution during Japan s imperial rule and
the United States role in it during their reign. For roughly 50 years comfort women were the silent
victims of war. During the 1990 s and 2000 s many Korean comfort women came into the lime light
by opening up about their experiences in the comfort system. The Feminist Studies journal
published Na Young Lee s scholarly work, The Construction of Military Prostitutionin South Korea
during the U.S. Military Rule, 1945 1948 , in which the author argues the view held by Korean
feminist NGO s in light to the Untied States responsibility for the eradication of the prostitution
system is exaggerated. In addition, Lee adds that it not only... Show more content on

Lee outlines many of the laws implemented by the U.S. government in relation to prostitution and
disease control. In addition, the author adds the serious problem that the U.S. government faced in
regards to STD contraction and the failure to suppress prostitution. Instead, the U.S. government
with the support from Korean elites, took the initiative to control their dilemma. The belief that
prostitution should be abolished lied widely on the shared thought that it was a remnant of the
premodern, patriarchal rule in which the Korean people had escaped from. In addition to this belief,
the abolishment of prostitution would also make advancement for a democratized, civilized, and
independent society. In response to the added pressure of these beliefs, the U.S. Military
government and the South Korean Interim Legislative Assembly passed the Abolishment of Public
Prostitution Law. However, this law only abolished licensed prostitution, not private. The
privatization of prostitution opened a gateway of new problems faced by the U.S. military. With the
increase in population and the dislocation of many workers a lot of women turned to private
prostitution. The U.S. government established The Women s Bureau under the Department of
Public Health and Welfare, in which, they were to take charge of the Japanese imperial policies in
regards to prostitution but also the the post abolition allocations. Lee states, in

Essay on Texas s Political Culture
Political Culture
Texas political culture is one that can be described as a combination of three main ideas:
individualistic, traditionalism and moralism. Considering Texas and its overwhelming 254 counties
we can see these main ideas undoubtedly. The 254 counties each have their own general set of
ideas, attitudes and beliefs. The whole state of Texasis simply not just considered individualistic,
traditionalism, or moralism, it is considered all three. Individualistic, traditionalism and moralism
are all strong values that coexist in our society and they all affect how we as the people live our
lives. A political culture shapes a region s politics.

Individualism is the belief of self reliance. Texas is also known for being on its own. Which leads
to its famous saying, you ve got nobody to blame but yourself. They are all about being the self
made man. An individualist prefers privacy, is suspicious of public institutions, and is an
independent contractor. This attitude ties into our low active government. Government is sought
out to be at low cost and out of the way of its voters. Texas government is very limited, and has a
legislature that meets biennially. Due to our isolation, public education is under funded and is at its
high in many court battles and legislative conflicts. The heart of individualism would be laissez
faire. In Britannica, laissez faire is the policy of minimum governmental interference in the
economic affairs of individuals and society. Laissez faire is basically telling government to leave
them alone. The whole concept is to keep minimum government interference in business.
Moralism is all about the community and a commonwealth. They are suspicious of private
institutions and interests. An example would be social security, social welfare programs, and
public education programs. A moralist is all about being equal with people, everyone needs a fair
share. Austin Texas has a lot of business there. They are big or moralism because of its big
community.

The Muslim Brotherhood By Donald Trump
President elect Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to jumpstart a bill in Congress that would
ban the Muslim Brotherhood by declaring it a terrorist organization. During Donald Trump s
campaign to run for President of the United Stated, he stated that he would ban Muslims. The
terrorist attacks our country has endured in the past by a few who were represented as an Islamic
terrorist group, began a stereotype that all Muslims are terrorist. Trump openly contributes to this
stereotype and blankets all Muslims into the same category of a terrorist, and he uses that
scapegoat to get support behind his attempt to ban them. The problem with this is that it is putting a
lot of the people who are not involved in terrorismbut identifies as Muslim in fear for their lives.
Muslims should not have to live in fear of being banned for what religion they are apart of,
Trump also needs to not be ignorant when it comes to the problems he is causing by scapegoating
the Islamic religion and all Muslims. Now that Trump is the President Elect he needs to reassure
everyone that he has the best interest for all people and will not blindly ban Muslims simply
because of their religion and the stereotypes placed on them. The Islamic religion must be better
understood before people can begin to speak about it intelligently. The stereotypes that people think
about when Muslims are brought up, cannot be what defines them as a group. If you only know

The Rise Of College Tuition
In order to improve every aspect of life, especially financially; just having a high school diploma
does not meet the requirements that society itself is looking for to accomplish one s American
Dream. Everyone desires and dream to go to college with the hope to be successful; but with the
fact that the skyrocketing collegetuitionis increasing every year might turn those dreams into
nightmares. There are many research have been proven that the main factors which cause the high
cost of postsecondary education was the lack of funding from government, increase of students as
well the increase of administrators. But beside those given facts, there are seems to be more deep
hidden truth that most college students and their families have no ideas about it. Numerous of
debates seem to argue about the reasons that cause the rise of college tuitionwas because the most

ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF ORGANIZATIONAL
CULTURE
1. INTRODUCTION
One of the significant elements while discussing about organization development is to discuss its
own existing culture as the culture itself is part of organization behavior that gives significant role
in shaping organizational sustainability.
Above all there is a need to recognize the right culture for any organization to achieve excellence.
Peters and Waterman (1982) clearly described organizational cultureas the human side of an
organization with managers key role being to shape culture by making meaning for employees out

While preparing the planned change, an organization must be able to identify its own culture.
According to Md Zabid Abdul Rashid, Sambasivan and Azmawani Abdul Rahman (2003)
organizational culture is associated with attitudes towards organizational change. Different types of
organizational culture have different level of acceptance on attitude towards organizational change.
Organizational culture gives impacts on organizational change process. While referring to the
transformational type of change, there is no doubt that the transformation process, which regarded
as the most complex and comprehensive type of change process requires radical shift that covers
change in culture, behaviour and mindset of all the components within the organization.
Thus it is clearly understood here that complete understanding of organizational culture will lead to
and rightful approaches to tackle any organizational development and change process.
Organizational culture decides the way its members make decisions, the way they make
interpretation, manage and operate. In other words, organizational culture affects organization s
competitive position. Inability to manage organizational culture will give negative consequences on
organization s performance.

A Research Study On Sex Trafficking Study Essay
As far as the reliability was concerned in the study I believe there should be no concern. The
individuals in the study were all young women of whom were adjudicated from 1990 to 2011l. If
there was any reason to believe that their information was not reliable one could check into police
records and other background checks that were available. The presence of the court files helps with
the researchstudy being reliable. If those files did not exist, one would question the reliability of the
stories from younger ladies. To adjust for the credibility, the researcher obtained information from
official criminal histories, interviews from offenders and law enforcement records (Hargreaves
Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34).
Sample
When looking for a sample for a research project one must be sure that it is going to provide us
with the answers to the questions we are looking to answer and it represents the sample that was
in mind (Yegidis et al., 2012, p. 210). In the sex trafficking study, the researchers had obtained
their participants by selecting 179 survivors of young ladies who had performed the act of sex
trafficking. The ladies were selected from a pool of women who had been adjudicated between
1990 2011 (Hargreaves Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34). After reading the who research study I
do feel that the sample size was effective and it gave the results that the researchers were looking
for. The authors did not offer any justification for the sample size that was selected.

The Importance Of The Self And Society
Contrary to popular belief, the self and society are not separate entities, they are dialectic and
influence the development of each other. This relationship can be examined through behavior and
interaction of an individual s self with social reality. The self relates to society through a variety
of different sociological theories including Dramaturgy, Symbolic interactionism, the looking
glass self, phenomenology, and ethnomethodology. All the above argue that society and the self
are shaped through experiences within our everyday lives, and that communication with other
selves is necessary to make up the larger societal structure. Without the self, society would cease
to exist. Socialization is the process through which the self emerges through social interaction
(Gorea, 2017). The self is not an organic thing that has a specific location whose fundamental fate
is to be born, to mature, and to die, nonetheless, is a dramatic effect arising from a scene that is
presented (Goffman, 1959:252) In other words, the way we are socialized into society leaves an
impression on ourselves, as well as our impression leaves a lasting effect on society. Through this
process of socialization, we learn to adopt the perspective of others, and act in a manner molded to
represent the expectations of society. As humans, we actively influence our own social
development through our sense of self. We learn about ourselves through socialization by copying
the actions of others, or through

The Age Of Europe During The Medieval Era
Between the years 500 A.D. and 1400 A.D., a time referred to as the Middle Ages occurred in
Europe. This era began as the Roman Empire collapsed, following the disorder that occurred
because of the destruction of the Romans. During this dark time, there was much disorder.
Eventually, this time period led to the rise of feudalism, the immense power of the Roman
Catholic Church, and many advancements in architecture, literacy, and art. The variety of
events that occurred in this period allowed historians to label it as many things. Four of these
labels are the Age of Faith, the Dark Ages, the Age of Feudalism, and the Golden Age of Europe
. During the Medieval Era, people of Europe were in disarray and disunity, and they trusted every
word the church spoke; therefore, the two best labels for this era are the Dark Ages and the Age
of Faith. The Medieval Era came to be labeled as the Dark Ages for multiple reasons. When the
Western Roman Empire collapsed, many barbaric civilizations found that it was the right time to
invade and gain some land in Europe, a land filled with anarchy and disunity at the time. These
barbarians were one of the great causes for the Middle Agesto be labeled as dark, for they were the
ones to cause violence, which then led to more events that put the Middle Ages into this category.
Frantz Funck Brentano further explains, The barbarians have broken through the ramparts... There

The Mexican Mestizo
The ideal Mexican people are defined as the mestizo. The mestizo was turned into a subject of
popular consumption with the aim of spreading Mexican manliness symbolically representing the
values and attitudes of patriarchal figures, and is often pictured with his idealistic female
counterpart (Carter 55). MexicoCity developed under a convergence and clashing of cultures
existing in one of the most heavily populated and concentrated cities in the world. It is
characterized by fifty six ethnic groups, divided only by the history of their origin. The major
groups that are referenced throughout the history of Mexico City, and the country as a whole, are
known as mestizos, criollos, and Indians. These three prominent groups, derived from the colonial
caste system, are defined as those of mixed native and European ancestry, the descendants of the
Spaniards, and the indigenous people, respectively (Chong 45). It is the existence of this
classification system that greatly perpetuates what has become the mythical identity of modern day
Mexico City. The visual language of the national male and female, the mestizocouple, denotes the
selective criteria for prototypical individuals in forming the idealized nation, validating the
exclusion and judgements of a racial and ethnic nature against indigenous people (Carter 55). The
early repression of Mexico s indigenous people under the control of the criollos led to their
exclusion from modern society, and the cultural domination of the

The Failure Of Communism And Communism
Joel Boyd
S.A. Middleton
HIST 130.10
22 April 2015
1.Discuss the seeming failure of communism and other forms of socialism and the apparent
triumph of capitalism in the 1990s, as well as considering capitalism s possible benefits and debits
in the early twenty first century.
Capitalism and Communism have both been put forth as the best models for modern enlightened
societies. Each philosophy contains both desirable and undesirable elements within its framework.
Communism is based on a firm belief that fiscal and social equality is the path to an ideal utopian
society. Capitalism is based on the principle of individuality, and the exercise of individual rights,
freedom, and the liberty to pursue advancement in a competitive free market. Each has shown its
strengths and weaknesses. Over the course of time however only one has emerged successfully in
the early 21st century, though not without its own egregious faults.
Communism has its roots in the philosophy of Marx and Engels. In their Communist Manifesto
published in 1848, they laid out the principles of communist society. In Communist society, no
private ownership of property is allowed. Property should be shared among the people and
likewise the economy. Through economic and social equality, the hope was that individuals would
work for the common good of society, and leave the desire for advancement, power and authority
behind. Ideal systems do not exist in nature. That statement stands alone as a pillar

of the house indicates a fragment from the self defeating land cringe fort the past and a truthful
recognition and dedication to the present.
With the exception of the spiritual hybridization experienced by the Tulsi, there is the agreement
made by Shekhar in the matter of his marriage. He opposes to having a wife selected for him in
the customary way and intimidates to execute suicide. Likewise W.C.Tuttle drives an agreement
amidst the Hindu Spiritualism creole communities. Above all, the Tulsi considers the shabby
European property at short hills into a n amended form of Hanuman House in a hilarious way.
Mrs Tutsi s house, the Hanuman House represents the orthodoxy and racial betterment of an
individual. On the other hand, the Barrack and Houses represent the captivity of life where Mr.
Biswas is restless as he is in the Tulsi house. A Hose for Mr. Biswas is an image of his independent

Hanuman House is the home of the Tutsi group which symbolises the hybrid culture as a result of
colonization. Even though the house enfolds one of the ancient Hindu cultures, their culture is
hybridized by the colonizers through their western lifestyle, faith, language and education. The
western aligned culture of Trinidad destroys the Hindu traditional norms and beliefs. This clash
between the Hindu traditional custom and the western ideology heads to a hybridized culture.
The main character consequently advances from house to house as a victim of hybridization, in
search of his true identity, his own self. This demonstrates not only his agitation and without a
home, his discontent and alienation with surroundings, his feeling of being disconnected and
being ditched off the universe. A House for Mr. Biswas deals with the everlasting search for a
house as home as a place of belonging or his

The Roe V. Wade Court Case
Abstract
The research that I chose to elaborate my topic on is the Roe v. Wade court case which is about
abortion. The case history is about a woman who was single and pregnant; she decided to bring a
stimulating challenge suit to the constitution of Texas laws. The laws that Texas made were
given to prohibit mothers from aborting children because it was a crime. They could not do it
without medical advice for the reason that it was to save the life of the unborn child. As I begin
to go into detail about the court case. First Dr. Hallford, a medical doctor who faced criminal
prosecution for violating the state abortion law. Second, you have the Does. They are a married
couple with no children who were against Jane Roe and her decisions. Lastly, you have District
Attorney Wade. Roe and Hallford had a portion of controversies and declaratory that was
warranted. The court ruled a decision relief that was not warranted and the Does criticism was
not justiciable. This is a brief synopsis of what the court case will expand on later on in the
research paper. I will be utilizing reviews to test what male and female dispositions were towards
fetus removal and how they feel about it. The study will extremely differ and I will be getting a
broad gender preference perspective of the subject that I decided to do the review on. It will all tie
once again into the Roe v. Wadecourt case. As you are perusing my examination paper; the
researcher made an investigation on Chowan University

Compare And Contrast The Presidents Of The United States...
The years between 1877 and 1900 were very eventful, and there were seven different Presidents
that led the United States throughout these years. Though each President played a role in one way
or another, the five most effective U.S Presidents were James Garfield, Chester Arthur, Grover
Cleveland, Benjamin Harrison, and topping the list is Rutherford B. Hayes. A truly effective
president invokes change with new policies or proposals, and that is exactly what Hayes did as the
19th President of the United States. The two events that Hayes made that made him so effective
were The Compromise of 1877 and The Great Railroad Strike of 1877. After the Civil War had
ended, conflict did not stop with the South, as the fight went from war to the political world. In
order for the Democrats to allow Rutherford B. Hayes into office, he had to agree to pull the troops
out of the South, allow Democratic control again, and to have a Democrat in the cabinet
(ushistory.com). This was the most controversial election in history. With President Hayes agreeing
to the terms, this agreement became known as the Great Compromise. This effectively and
officially ended the Reconstruction era of in the South that had gone... Show more content on

Hayes really played a role in was The Great Railroad Strike of 1877. In the summer of 1877, pay
for workers, and hours to work were significantly cut because of the struggling economy
(americanhorizons). Workers didn t respond nicely, as they stopped working and started a 45
day protest that didn t allow anyone to operate the trains. This is where Rutherford B. Hayes
stepped in, by sending federal troops to Pennsylvania to use force and put an end to the strike. It
was violent as more than 100 people were killed and a thousand more were arrested
(rankfile.org). President Hayes didn t totally resolve the dispute and it may have not been done in
the best way, but the people did head back to work and the strike ended because of his

The Presumption of Innocence Down Under
While the Australian legal system abides by the principle of the presumption of innocence, there
are several ways in which courtrooms and their respective rituals, rules and characteristics,
contradict the notion of judicial proceedings being in favour of the accused (CLRG, 1972; Mark,
1973). Indeed, Friedman and Percival (1976) have suggested that courts now embody efficient
processing routine, as opposed to adjudication. Judicial proceedings can often be characterised by
complex legal terminology that manipulates individuals and exerts power, spatial dominance
achieved by furniture placement, and other rituals which often perpetuate (often unfounded)
irrational fears held by both the accused persons and witnesses. The following observations were
noted at the Downing Centre on the 21st of March, 2014 in court rooms 3.1, 5.1 and 5.3. Spatial
Organisation As Carlen stated in his contribution to the British Journal of Criminology, spacing
impacts heavily upon peoples ability to effectively participate in the rituals of court, as well as
their ability to defend themselves. Furthermore, spacing maps out the specific rights and duties
individuals have with regards to certain ritual occasions (1976:50). Upon entering Local Court
5.1, one could immediately notice the power held by the presiding magistrate. She was seated
behind a large, raised podium almost spanning from one side of the room to the other; the coat of
arms raised higher up on the wall directly behind her for all

The wind blows not quite choosing a direction, the trees rustle and whisper secrets I will never
know. A chill runs through my body as the cool wind hits me and starts to slowly seep through the
thin fabric of my sweats. The wind helps simmer the sweltering heat that the sun seems to create.
Wind chimes sing a loud song as the wind runs through them, causing them to clang together and
fight for space. I close my eyes and take in my surroundings using hearing and touch. I let the
wind attack me from different ways, hear the horns and wheels of cars as they speed past on the
highway. A sense of calmness sweeps over me, my body relaxes and my heart beat slows down. I

me happiness. A fire truck s siren slices through the silence like a sharp knife breaking me out of
my separate little world.
I feel as if the rains wash away my problems that have been following me around. I sense a new

Examples Of Leadership In Remember The Titans
In the movie Remember the Titans, coaches Yoast and Boone demonstrate leadership through the
three leadership styles; authoritarian, democratic and laissez faire. Authoritarian Authoritarian
leadership style is where a leader has complete control and power over their team. They
demonstrate their power and control by dictating policies and procedures, deciding what goals
need to be achieved, and directs all activities to be done by the team. An authoritarian is usually
most successful when things are going well or when in a crisis and decisions need to be made
quickly. Democratic Democratic leadership style is where the leaders and members work together

The leader is also influential to the team. Leadership factors in Remember the Titans the
leaderships styles of coach Boone and coach Yoast were suited to the team and worked well with
them. By the end of the film the team had a good relationship with the leaders; coach Boone,
coach Yoast and Gerry. Team factors these factors relate to the characteristics of a task. Team
factors in Remember the Titans everyone on the team had the same motivation and desire to
win and succeed. They were brought together by said motivations and desires. To be a cohesive
unit and a great team the Titans would have to learn to trust and respect each other. They would
have to overcome their racial issues and differences. Coach Boone implements strategies in his
attempt to bring the team together as a cohesive unit. These strategies include: Coach Boone
sets up a training camp in which every player is required to go. This camp was set up in order
for the team to get to know each other and become closer. When getting on the buses for the
departure for the camp coach Boone realised that the whites and blacks were split up and on
different buses. Boone came up with a strategy to get the players closer by making them sit next to

Diction In Birches
Have you ever smelt a certain scent or heard a certain song and it brought a specific memory or
feeling to you? The poem Birches is about Birch trees that the author, Robert Frost, connected to
his childhood. Frost wants the reader to see his vision of the birch trees. In order for Frost to
display his vision he uses elements of style. The reader is able to make the connection that the
author is making between the birchtrees and his childhood because of the way the poem is written.
Frost uses specific words for the reader to understand and imagine the scene in front of them. The
author presents a longing tone towards his childhood through the use of diction, imagery, and
language. The poet begins by using diction to reinforce the message

The Importance Of Technology In The Organization
The world we live in today is more complicated, competitive and technologically advanced, and
there is always a demand for resource and if the existing resources are not utilized properly it leads
to poor results. Technology is a component that can be used for the productive use of resources. But
employees in the organization often resist adapting to technology. Introducing new technology and
tools into an organization can increase productivity, boost sales, and help you make better, quicker
decisions however getting every employee adjust to the change in technology is often a challenge.
Organization very constantly face the challenge of adapting themselves to the technology and it
depends on its employees to overcome the change and employees need the stimulation to adapt to
the change and this reminds me of a famous quote You can t build an adaptable organization
without adaptable people and individuals change only when they have to, or when they want to
(Gary Hamel). As per Gary Hamel individuals only change when they have to or when they want
to and Motivation is a factor that can drive individuals to change or adapt to technology.
Motivation is the key ingredient to bring about a change in the employees which can lead to the
success of an organization. Organizations even though they have all the technical skills, will not be
successful if they are not able to motivate their team to take up change. The manager or leader or
the organization should have the skill to

Neutrality Acts were laws passed in 1935, 1936, 1937, and 1939 to limit U.S. involvement in

United Airlines 811
On February 24th, 1989 United Airlines 811 (UA811) took off from Honolulu International
Airport, Hawaii (HNL) for a regularly scheduled 8 hour flight to Auckland, New Zealand. The
routine flight aboard the Boeing 747 122 had left Los Angeles, California enroute to Sydney,
Australia, but made a scheduled intermediate stop in Honolulu and would make one more in
Auckland (NTSB, 1992, p. 1). UA811 departed Gate 10, at HNL, 3 minutes late with 3 flight
crew, 15 flight attendants and 337 passengers onboard (NTSB, 1992, p. 1). The flight took place
in the aftermath of Lockerby and additional boarding procedures were in place adding to an
extended passenger boarding process. The second officer noted that all cabin and cargo door
lights were out prior to departing the gate (NTSB, 1992, p. 2). The captain was at the controls
for the takeoff from HNL runway 8R at 0152:49 HST (NTSB, 1992, p. 2). The flightcrew
reported the airplane s operation to be normal during the take off and during the initial and
intermediate segments of the climb (NTSB, 1992, p. 2). Due to thunderstorms enroute the
flightcrew elected to deviate left of course and the captain left the passenger seat belt sign on .

Essay about James Joyce s Araby
Araby
Even under the best of circumstances the transition from childhood into adulthood is a long and
dreary journey that all young men must encounter in life. A road that involves many hardships and
sacrifices along the way; and when that road is a lonely one, with only oneself to rely upon, the
hardship intensifies to become destructive to those involved. This is particularly true in the story
Araby, where James Joyce portrays the trials and tribulations of a young boy s initiation into
adulthood. Many of the boy s problems lie in not being able to come to grips with the harsh reality
that no matter how much he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, Joyce portrays many symbols to show the boys transition into becoming an
adult. Joyce says, I sat staring at the clock for some time and, when its ticking began to irritate me,
I left the room. The ticking of the clock symbolized the long and frustrating journey into
adulthood; and we see from the fact that it irritated him, shows his desire to become an adult
already. Later in the story, Joyce portrays an instance where the boy desires to be a man even
though he is not; From the front window I saw my companions playing below in the street. It is as
if he is an adult, towering over his friends, looking down upon them when in reality they are the
same age as he is.
After receiving money and permission from his uncle to go to the bazaar, we see another
symbol used to show his lonely road into maturity. Joyce says, I took my seat in a third class
carriage of a deserted train. After an intolerable delay the train moved out of the station slowly.
The train is the symbol used here to show the long journey that is taking place in his life. The fact
that it was deserted and that the train moved slowly shows that the transition into adulthood is a
very slow moving time in a boy s life, which can be very lonely at times; I remained alone in the
bare carriage.
Joyce is not portraying how adolescents can act

Different Types Of MRSA
MRSA stands for Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and is a bacteria that causes
infectious open wounds on the skin. MRSA is particularly dangerous because it is resistant to most
types of antibiotics, and is easily transmittable throughout the general public. There are two types of
MRSA: HA MRSA: which is healthcare associated MRSA; and CA MRSA: which is community
associated MRSA. The signs, symptoms, and treatment are all similar between the two different
types of MRSA ( MRSA Overview, 1995). While resistant to most antibiotics, there are treatment
options, however, prevention is the most important step.
Staphylococcus aureus is a specific type of staph bacteria that causes a range of infections, such as
infection of an open ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the infected wound is mild and has not infected the internal body, antibiotics may not be needed.
The treatment will only include the wound being cut and drained. If the infection is more severe
and antibiotics are needed, there are newer types the can be used. MRSA has been shown to
respond well to drugs such as vancomycin, ceftaroline, and daptomycin. Rarely, a MRSA
infection has been shown to become resistant to vancomycin, and progresses to diseases termed
VRSA. If this happens, a combination of antibiotics will be used. The treatment plan can be
more successful if a material sample is obtained, as the culture can be tested to see which
antibiotics it will respond to. The antibiotics course needs to be completed in full, even if
symptoms disappear. If the course is not completed and the MRSA bacteria is still in the body, the
infection is come back and become resistant to the antibiotics originally used. This is how MRSA
becomes more dangerous and less susceptible to more and more antibiotics throughout time. The
prognosis of patients infected with MRSA ranges and depends on the severity of the infection. If
the infection was mild, patients almost always recover full and obtain 100% of their health back.
For infections that advance to deeper infections, for patients that were infected with H MRSA, or
for patients that have other health complications such as diabetes, the prognosis is not as positive.

Coming Of Age By Margaret Mead
Through Margaret Mead s ethnography, in the book Coming of Age in Samoa, we learn about
the lives of women in Samoan culture. Young girls of Samoan culture have very little freedom in
the beginning of their lives. Girls are expected to take care of the infants in their families until
there is a younger and more capable girl that can provide care. Taking care of the babies in the
familyis a Samoan girl s main responsibility as a child. The author further explains, She also
develops a number of simple techniques. She learns to weave firm square balls from palm
leaves, to make pin wheels of palm leaves or Frangipani blossoms...But in the case of the little
girls all of these tasks are merely supplementary to the main business of baby tending (Mead 20).
At a young age women are expected to attain skills in certain household tasks that help provide
towards their Samoan families.
Weaving is a household task that a Samoan girl is required to learn and become very skilled at.
She learns different techniques and styles of weaving which help Samoan families throughout
their everyday duties. Usually the older women of the household teach the younger girls how to
weave. When a girl is 13 or 14 she is expected to weave a fine mat. The fine mat represents the high
point of Samoan weaving virtuosity (Mead 24). This fine mat takes about 1 to 2 years to
complete. Often these fine mats are not finished until a girl is about 19 or 20 years of age. It is
considered a

  • 2. In The Waiting Room Essay In the Waiting Room can be argued to be both the most discussed poem and the best poem of Bishop s. To her horror, the Elizabeth in the poem discovers that she is an I and one of them (PPL150). This thought, which is precipitated by numerous things, especially Aunt Consuelo s oh! and the horrifying breast of the women in the waiting room s copy National Geographic, plunges her into despair about society s order (PPL 149). In a way, this poem expresses both the awakening of oneself as a person and the awakening to their sexuality. Elizabeth is terrified of things that are associated with women, breast, a cry of pain, and as such she is forced to realize that she is a womanas well and, potentially, has the same fate as them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ostriker encourages the readers not to be shy as Bishop both yearns for and fears the erotic, experiences it as actual or potential pain, and produces screens to disguise the experience (241). These early works and their position on her childhood provide insight into Bishop s life, especially of her love of women, despite being indirectly about her sexuality. As such, these hidden ideas in her poems should be explored by the readers because it helps us to better understand her. The poems Bishop had published later in life, namely Insomnia, The Shampoo, One Art, and finally Sonnet, deal more with her reluctance to expose her sexuality than discovering it as she does in these earlier poems. Of the fourpoems listed above, Insomnia is the most concealed in terms of sexuality. Without proper insider knowledge, this poem could easily be overlooked, but its use of the term inverted signals to people that she is talking about her lesbian identity (PPL 54). Without the in group knowledge, Bishop can hide her discussion of sexuality in this poem which is otherwise freely discussed. The last stanza imagines the world inverted where you love me and ultimately states that Bishop wants a world like this (PPL 54). Ideas of gender roles and how they interact with sexuality causes Bishop to hide her true thoughts and feelings and only in an inverted world can she thrive. Still, as Harrison points out the tone in this poem is both bitter and defiant. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Importance Of Reasoning In Critical Thinking Society today requires individuals to develop skills to make informed, thought driven decisions, rather than quick hasty decisions, in many situations both personally and professionally. Decisions like these are made based on critical thinking skills that are not inherited but developed through many years of training both of the mind and of one s thoughtprocesses. Understanding how thinking occurs and analyzing the thought processes are steps that critical thinkers use on a daily basis (Paul Elder, 2012). In addition, according to Celuch Slama (2000), critical thinking is essential to lifelong learning and is developed through improved reasoningand communication skills. Oftentimes, reasoning and thinking are used interchangeably; however, reasoning represents the higher order thinking skills (Paul Elder, 2012). Accordingly, thinking can be conscious or unconscious; however, reasoning is always conscious and requires logic (Difference Between Thinking and Reasoning, 2016). Understanding the eight elements of reasoning associated with developing intellectual traits, is important for critical thinking (Paul Elder, 2012). Reasoning always has a purpose which in turn is the goal or objective of the thought (Paul Elder, 2012). Developing a budget for Christmas shopping to prevent overspending is an example of reasoning with a purpose. Questioning or trying to figure out a problem is another element of reasoning (Celuch Slama, 1999). Asking ourselves questions, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Alamo In Blood And Memory Summary A Line in the Sand: The Alamo in Blood and Memory . Randy Roberts, James S. Olson. New York: Simon and Schuster New York, January 22, 2001. 356. Events in history are unchangeable, once they have happened there is no way of changing the past. However, what can change is the perception of such events which in turns changes the sentiment. When Randy Roberts and James S. Olson wrote A Line in the Sand: The Alamo in Blood and Memory they changed the way the events of The Alamo could be viewed and thus exposing some truth about the events that lead to what is known as the greatest battle in Texas independence history . Some key ideas I kept in mind while reading this book and also writing this review include what the goals the authors were trying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Olson, also a distinguished historian, graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in 1967 then went on to receive his PhD from New York University in 1972. This kind of research can make their novels, such as, A Line in the Sand: The Alamo in Blood and Memory a factual tell of events with new questions towards the events that pertain to the battle of the Alamo. • 8. Ned Stark s Game Of Thrones My boyfriend recently got me into the show Game of Thrones. Before we started dating, I had been stuck on season one forever, and I am not entirely sure why I was unable to move past it. Looking back now, I think it had to do with somehow knowing it was going to be an amazing show that deserves a significant amount of commitment and attention. However, when I was finally able to grant the show the attention it deserves, I discovered something incredible. In the first season s finale, the beheading of main character Ned Stark triggers a series of complications for the show s plot. In addition, as news of Robb s vengeful endeavors become known to the public, Robb s archenemy Tywin Lannister scoffs the new King of the North and pays little attention in planning defensive battle strategies. However, Robb fools experienced war leaders such as Tywin by utilizing unconventional battle tactics. For example, by tricking Tywin Lannister about his location, Robb diverts Tywin s attention and succeeds in leading his men to attack a weaker base and even capture Tywin s beloved son Jamie. • 9. The Process and Factors of Wound Healing Introduction The skin, the biggest organ in the human body, has several vital functions, including sensation, thermoregulation, protection and synthesis of vitamin D. Nurses would like to be knowledgeable concerning what is thought of to be healthy skin (Pringle and Penzer2002). This is very important, as the condition of the skin might typically be a sign of underlying disease (Casey 2002). Changes within the skin may be one among the first indicators of an underlying health downside. Injury of either the epidermis or the dermis can cause systemic infection, increased morbidity, increased value of care, and negative psychosocial consequences (Schindler, Kuhn, Christopher, Conway, Ridling Simpson; 201one). Wound healing is a dynamic, interactive method involving soluble mediators, blood cells, extracellular matrix, and parenchymal cells. Wound healing has three phases: the inflammatory section, the proliferative part, and the maturational or transforming phase. These phases could overlap in time (Porth, 2011). Inflammatory Phase The inflammatory part starts at the time of injury with the formation of a blood clot and therefore the migration of phagocytic white blood cells into the wound web site. The primary cells to arrive, the neutrophils, ingest and take away bacteria and cellular debris. When twenty four hours, the neutrophils are joined by macrophages, that still ingest cellular debris and play a necessary role in the production of growth factors for the ... Being forced to adapt to a different academic style made me grow as a student, and being exposed to different cultures has opened me up to a world I never could have imagined. I was fortunate enough to travel to many different European countries during my time abroad, and each one was more incredible than the last. I think the best part of my experience abroad was living in London. I absolutely loved city life. The tube has to be one of the world s greatest inventions, and it s incredible how small and homey such a big place can feel when everything is easily connected. What did you dislike about it? Overall, my experience abroad was amazing. If I had to pick something to complain about, it would likely be the third party program that I was a part of. Many students, along with myself, experienced communication issues with the program provider, and the company didn t often accept responsibility for the mistakes that they made throughout my time abroad. That being said, these incidents didn t affect my experience enough that I regret choosing their program. I think in the future, I would just advise other students to ask more questions and get everything in writing to avoid these problems. While we have discussed that adaptations come in many forms viewing these three websites catered towards Mary Shelley s works was interesting to say the least. The aspects of the websites that I truly enjoyed ranged from the collection of information to the ease of just being able to access Shelley s work electronically. The websites allowed for a modernized rendition of the somewhat dated material and then some. • 13. Imperialism In The Congo Research Paper In the Congo, many people were affected by Imperialism in many different ways. For some people were shamed, had curfews, and some were often banned from white people establishments. Therefore, it was like segregation to the Congolese people. They had religion forced onto them by the Roman Catholic and some Protestant Churches. However, they gained formal education systems and slowly improved their healthcare. The government even sponsored teaching a handful of languages in the schools. When imperialism first hit, the Congo experienced withdrawal of resources due to lack of farming, therefore having a small population was vital to the Congolese people would support themselves. It was not until after the Congo gained their independence back, did the population start to grow back. Sadly, among the small population in the Congo, most were receiving callus treatment from Leopold and many died in war, or from starvation, slavery, and also disease. • 14. Definition Of Income Inequality In my opinion, one of the most controversial topic in the recent election was Income Inequality. The real reason people are unable to talk others into believing them when they argue on the Income Equality is because not everyone knows the correct definition of Income Inequality. Income inequality means unequal distribution of household and income in the economy. Income inequality is also presented as the percentage of income to a percentage of the population ( Income Inequality ) which means the difference between the amounts of money each family spend on themselves. On the other hand, economic inequalityis measured among groups in the population or between countries. (Wikipedia, Economic inequality ) In my opinion, income inequality is a problem that is faced by every country, but it is not a problem that should be tackled immediately. The rich are money making machines. Today, the top mega wealthy the top 1% earn an average of $1.3 million a year. It s more than three times as much as the 1980s, when the rich only made $428,000; on average... Meanwhile, the bottom 50% of the American population earned an average of $16,000 in pre tax income in 1980. • 15. Double Standards In The Importance Of Being Earnest Oscar Wilde, playwright of the play The Importance of Being Earnest, uses the relationships and interactions of his characters to satirize the moral beliefs and customs of Victorian Era England. Wilde s play follows the life of Jack Worthington who is trying to earn the approval of his fiancee, Gwendolen s, mother in order to marry her. Lady Bracknell s disapproval stems from the ambiguity of Jack s birthright, despite him being a wealthy man. Her disapproval serves as a mockery to Victorian society and its upheaval of social status and wealth above love and companionship as the basis of marriage. This is seen again when, despite her initial refusal, Lady Bracknell allows her nephew, Algernon, to marry Jack s ward Cecily after hearing of her vast wealth. Her approval of this relationship further mocks the Victorian belief that monetary gains is the most important aspects when considering marriage. With these two separate... Lady Bracknell, despite coming from an impoverished background, is allowed to marry a wealthy and aristocratic man. But when Jack asks to marry Gwendolen, he is subjected to a lengthy interview in which he must prove that he has enough wealth to support her. Again, Wilde puts his characters into common Victorian England situations to mock the practice involving marriage, wealth and status. Wilde manages to provoke thought into his readers and audience to question the values they grew up learning about through the actions and interactions that his characters must face to reach their ... • 34. The Importance Of The Self And Society Contrary to popular belief, the self and society are not separate entities, they are dialectic and influence the development of each other. This relationship can be examined through behavior and interaction of an individual s self with social reality. The self relates to society through a variety of different sociological theories including Dramaturgy, Symbolic interactionism, the looking glass self, phenomenology, and ethnomethodology. All the above argue that society and the self are shaped through experiences within our everyday lives, and that communication with other selves is necessary to make up the larger societal structure. Without the self, society would cease to exist. Socialization is the process through which the self emerges through social interaction (Gorea, 2017). The self is not an organic thing that has a specific location whose fundamental fate is to be born, to mature, and to die, nonetheless, is a dramatic effect arising from a scene that is presented (Goffman, 1959:252) In other words, the way we are socialized into society leaves an impression on ourselves, as well as our impression leaves a lasting effect on society. Through this process of socialization, we learn to adopt the perspective of others, and act in a manner molded to represent the expectations of society. As humans, we actively influence our own social development through our sense of self. We learn about ourselves through socialization by copying the actions of others, or through ... • 40. The Age Of Europe During The Medieval Era Between the years 500 A.D. and 1400 A.D., a time referred to as the Middle Ages occurred in Europe. This era began as the Roman Empire collapsed, following the disorder that occurred because of the destruction of the Romans. During this dark time, there was much disorder. Eventually, this time period led to the rise of feudalism, the immense power of the Roman Catholic Church, and many advancements in architecture, literacy, and art. The variety of events that occurred in this period allowed historians to label it as many things. Four of these labels are the Age of Faith, the Dark Ages, the Age of Feudalism, and the Golden Age of Europe . During the Medieval Era, people of Europe were in disarray and disunity, and they trusted every word the church spoke; therefore, the two best labels for this era are the Dark Ages and the Age of Faith. The Medieval Era came to be labeled as the Dark Ages for multiple reasons. When the Western Roman Empire collapsed, many barbaric civilizations found that it was the right time to invade and gain some land in Europe, a land filled with anarchy and disunity at the time. These barbarians were one of the great causes for the Middle Agesto be labeled as dark, for they were the ones to cause violence, which then led to more events that put the Middle Ages into this category. • 42. The Mexican Mestizo The ideal Mexican people are defined as the mestizo. The mestizo was turned into a subject of popular consumption with the aim of spreading Mexican manliness symbolically representing the values and attitudes of patriarchal figures, and is often pictured with his idealistic female counterpart (Carter 55). MexicoCity developed under a convergence and clashing of cultures existing in one of the most heavily populated and concentrated cities in the world. It is characterized by fifty six ethnic groups, divided only by the history of their origin. The major groups that are referenced throughout the history of Mexico City, and the country as a whole, are known as mestizos, criollos, and Indians. These three prominent groups, derived from the colonial caste system, are defined as those of mixed native and European ancestry, the descendants of the Spaniards, and the indigenous people, respectively (Chong 45). It is the existence of this classification system that greatly perpetuates what has become the mythical identity of modern day Mexico City. The visual language of the national male and female, the mestizocouple, denotes the selective criteria for prototypical individuals in forming the idealized nation, validating the exclusion and judgements of a racial and ethnic nature against indigenous people (Carter 55). The early repression of Mexico s indigenous people under the control of the criollos led to their exclusion from modern society, and the cultural domination of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Middleton HIST 130.10 22 April 2015 1.Discuss the seeming failure of communism and other forms of socialism and the apparent triumph of capitalism in the 1990s, as well as considering capitalism s possible benefits and debits in the early twenty first century. Capitalism and Communism have both been put forth as the best models for modern enlightened societies. Each philosophy contains both desirable and undesirable elements within its framework. Communism is based on a firm belief that fiscal and social equality is the path to an ideal utopian society. Capitalism is based on the principle of individuality, and the exercise of individual rights, freedom, and the liberty to pursue advancement in a competitive free market. Each has shown its strengths and weaknesses. Over the course of time however only one has emerged successfully in the early 21st century, though not without its own egregious faults. Communism has its roots in the philosophy of Marx and Engels. In their Communist Manifesto published in 1848, they laid out the principles of communist society. In Communist society, no private ownership of property is allowed. Property should be shared among the people and likewise the economy. Through economic and social equality, the hope was that individuals would work for the common good of society, and leave the desire for advancement, power and authority behind. Ideal systems do not exist in nature. That statement stands alone as a pillar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The case history is about a woman who was single and pregnant; she decided to bring a stimulating challenge suit to the constitution of Texas laws. The laws that Texas made were given to prohibit mothers from aborting children because it was a crime. They could not do it without medical advice for the reason that it was to save the life of the unborn child. As I begin to go into detail about the court case. First Dr. Hallford, a medical doctor who faced criminal prosecution for violating the state abortion law. Second, you have the Does. They are a married couple with no children who were against Jane Roe and her decisions. Lastly, you have District Attorney Wade. Roe and Hallford had a portion of controversies and declaratory that was warranted. The court ruled a decision relief that was not warranted and the Does criticism was not justiciable. This is a brief synopsis of what the court case will expand on later on in the research paper. I will be utilizing reviews to test what male and female dispositions were towards fetus removal and how they feel about it. The study will extremely differ and I will be getting a broad gender preference perspective of the subject that I decided to do the review on. It will all tie once again into the Roe v. The years between 1877 and 1900 were very eventful, and there were seven different Presidents that led the United States throughout these years. Though each President played a role in one way or another, the five most effective U.S Presidents were James Garfield, Chester Arthur, Grover Cleveland, Benjamin Harrison, and topping the list is Rutherford B. The two events that Hayes made that made him so effective were The Compromise of 1877 and The Great Railroad Strike of 1877. After the Civil War had ended, conflict did not stop with the South, as the fight went from war to the political world. In order for the Democrats to allow Rutherford B. Hayes into office, he had to agree to pull the troops out of the South, allow Democratic control again, and to have a Democrat in the cabinet (ushistory.com). • 47. The Presumption of Innocence Down Under While the Australian legal system abides by the principle of the presumption of innocence, there are several ways in which courtrooms and their respective rituals, rules and characteristics, contradict the notion of judicial proceedings being in favour of the accused (CLRG, 1972; Mark, 1973). Indeed, Friedman and Percival (1976) have suggested that courts now embody efficient processing routine, as opposed to adjudication. Judicial proceedings can often be characterised by complex legal terminology that manipulates individuals and exerts power, spatial dominance achieved by furniture placement, and other rituals which often perpetuate (often unfounded) irrational fears held by both the accused persons and witnesses. The following observations were noted at the Downing Centre on the 21st of March, 2014 in court rooms 3.1, 5.1 and 5.3. Spatial Organisation As Carlen stated in his contribution to the British Journal of Criminology, spacing impacts heavily upon peoples ability to effectively participate in the rituals of court, as well as their ability to defend themselves. Furthermore, spacing maps out the specific rights and duties individuals have with regards to certain ritual occasions (1976:50). Upon entering Local Court 5.1, one could immediately notice the power held by the presiding magistrate. Joyce says, I sat staring at the clock for some time and, when its ticking began to irritate me, I left the room. The ticking of the clock symbolized the long and frustrating journey into adulthood; and we see from the fact that it irritated him, shows his desire to become an adult already. Later in the story, Joyce portrays an instance where the boy desires to be a man even though he is not; From the front window I saw my companions playing below in the street. It is as if he is an adult, towering over his friends, looking down upon them when in reality they are the same age as he is. After receiving money and permission from his uncle to go to the bazaar, we see another symbol used to show his lonely road into maturity. Joyce says, I took my seat in a third class carriage of a deserted train. After an intolerable delay the train moved out of the station slowly. The train is the symbol used here to show the long journey that is taking place in his life. The fact that it was deserted and that the train moved slowly shows that the transition into adulthood is a very slow moving time in a boy s life, which can be very lonely at times; I remained alone in the bare carriage. Rarely, a MRSA infection has been shown to become resistant to vancomycin, and progresses to diseases termed VRSA. If this happens, a combination of antibiotics will be used. The treatment plan can be more successful if a material sample is obtained, as the culture can be tested to see which antibiotics it will respond to.
