The Effects Of Pre Trial Release Programs
Pre Trial Release Programs lets individuals be released prior to trial with conditions. Some of
these conditions are that you have to pay cash, wear an ankle bracelet while being on house
arrest, be alcohol/drug tested, or even be watched/monitored. Pretrial release programs can be
denied for capital offenses. The law allows release on personal recognizance of an unsecured
appearance bond. Common conditions: commercial surety, cash deposit, property bond, other
secured bonds, supervision and additional requirements . (http://www.ncsl.org/research/civil and
criminal justice/pretrial release conditions.aspx) Electronic monitoring is authorized for any
defendant eligible for release. A minimum of 500 dollars bond is required for failure to appear
while on pretrial release. There are several different options that judicial officials have at the
disposal when setting a defendants pretrial release conditions five basic conditions that a judge
or magistrate may set, NC statute lists them in 15A 534(a). There is the first one which is the
release on written promise to appear. This option basically allows the defendant to be released
without paying any type of bond, as long as he promises to appear in court on his written court
date. The second option is to release the defendant upon his execution of an unsecured appearance
bond. An unsecured bond is one that is backed only by the integrity of the defendant. No assets or
collateral is required to be posted on this type of bond. The

Social Work And The British Welfare Society
With reference to changes in government policy and ideologies of welfare, debate the significance
of the shift from the Victorian Mad pauper to the 21st century Mental health service User and its
impact on social work practice and values.
Since the 19th Century, professional social work and state allocation of resources has gone
through endless evolutions and revolutions, from deciding on the future of the Victorian s mad
paupers , those insane, idle, disabled or recipients of poor relief, (Thane, 1996), to supporting the
service users of today to take charge of their own care. This essay will explore this evolution of
social work and the British welfare society, paying particular attention to the theories of Anti
discriminatory Practice (ADP) and Anti oppressive Practice (AOP), two fundamental aspects of
modern day social work; illustrated by the example of this shift in societal perceptions and treatment
of the mad poor to the mental health service user and consider throughout whether social work has
maintained, or lost its way from, its grounding philanthropic values.
The origins of the social work as a profession is typically accredited to the Victorian 19th Century
as a means of helping the those in need, whilst simultaneously easing the anxiety of social
disorder at that time (Payne, 2005b); however, the practice of social work can be seen much earlier
on. If social work is the compassionate response to an individual or group s need, crisis or problem

Sexual Education Is Important Today
Sexuality plays a major role in everyone s life, and it is a part of being human regardless of the
gender, age, race, or religion. Everyone has their way of expressing their sexuality, either with
thoughts and fantasy, or with their sexual partners. Sexuality could be controlled or ruled by the
person s desires, and whatever they fantasize is what fits their hidden personality. Also, religion
and education could control their thoughts into disliking some acts of the sexual activities, like
anal or oral sex, some religions or parents try to put them in the X zone; which make the person
grow up with the attitude of forbidding those sexual acts or seeing them as unacceptable in
religious and psychological perspectives. Education is something important to everyone in their
lifetime, sexual education is important today because it teaches an important topic of sexuality.
Due to all the sexual illnesses that invaded the world even in the Middle East, considered as a
province environment. Alfred Kinsey started the sexual education when he founded the Institute
for Sex Research, in 1947 in Indiana University. Even though sex wasn t a common subject at
that time, he was brave enough to research and get the education that people needed for a better
and healthy sexual life. Also, If I was Alfred Kinsey in this time period, I would need to explore the
body image issues. Body image issue is when a woman looks in the mirror and all she sees are
flaws. Most women

Who Is The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal Affect The...
Musical expression and tastes are dynamic, always evolving to suit the desires of the listeners.
From 1979 to about 1983, a New Wave of metal was a major force in the music industry. Before
the New Wave could begin, however, a strong foundation of Heavy Metal was laid by bands
such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple. The New Wave of British Heavy Metal
changed music completely by influencing many bands and creating several new genres. Heavy
metal is a genre that developed in the late 1960s and the early 1970s in the United States and the
United Kingdom. Heavy metal was influenced by mostly blues, psychedelic rock, prog rock,
punk, and classic metal. The elements of heavy metal consists of highly amped distortion,
extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, loudness, and more. The line up of a heavy metal band
commonly consists of a drummer, bassist, rhythm guitarist, lead guitarist, and the singer. Some
bands even had a keyboardist. Bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath helped
create this new genre. Judas priest also had a major role in the development in the genre as well.
Motörhead was influenced by punk, which was huge in the 70s, and they kept that punk like

Jocasta as a Tragic Hero Essay

Upholding Jocasta as the Tragic Hero
What makes a tragic hero? Aristotle lays down groundwork of a tragic hero as being essentially
good. They are neither villain nor saint because they have flaws. Several elememts are nevcesary to
have a tragic hero, they are the tragic flaw, the reversal, recognition, and hubris. These generally
make up the story of the tragic hero, and in the case of Jocasta, the wife and mother of Oedipus in
Sophocles Oedipus the King, she posses all three. Yet she is not truly considered a tragic hero, but
a tragic character by many. However seeing as it is the character of Jocasta that sets the story in
motion, and she posses the qualities in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because she thinks that she and Laius were able to avoid the prophecy, she gives little credence
to what the oracle says (Sophocles 1.1. 784 796). She respects the gods, but not the oracles. She
tries to lead Oedipus to adopt this standpoint as well, telling him of the prophecy told to Laius
and herself, and how that prophecy did not come to pass. After telling Oedipus that he need not
worry about the words of a prophet she tells him, Whatever the god needs and seeks he ll bring
to light himself, with ease. (Sophocles line 799 800). Later she goes to Apollo s temple and asks
for his guidance, saying that they are in the grip of fear, beseeching his help for Oedipus and
saying, I come with prayers and offerings...I beg you, cleanse us, set us free of defilement!
(Sophocles line 1009 1010). She does not yet realize that the defilement cannot be cleansed.
Hubris
Her only flaw is disregard for the prophets; she never disregards the gods themselves. Her
disbelief in them is sound, and she maintains her belief in the gods. In this way it is hubris, her
overwhelming pride or belief that she thwarted the earlier prophecy. It is still this flaw which is a
part of her tragic downfall.
The Reversal
Peripetia, or the reversal, is another element of the tragic hero. Such as when an action backfires on
the person, much the way that abandoning Oedipus

Why Is Jfk Assassination Wrong
JFK assassination... is false The JFK assassination is said to be done by only one person, but this
essay will tell you that it is wrong. It is said the Oswald is the sole sniper that killed the
president. Well, Oswald did shot the gun, but he did not kill the President, someone else worked
with Oswald on this assassination. In this court case, Oswald and Oswald alone was proven guilty
for killing the President. Oswald had gotten killed later from a gunshot before he went to prison. In
the 1963 controversial court case of JFK assassination, the guilty verdict incorrectly prosecuted
only Lee Harvey Oswaldbecause of the direction of the bullet, the Grassy Knoll, and the CIA
involvement. Oswald did shoot the gun, but it was not the shot that... Show more content on

First, CIA helped him get the job where he shot JFK. Former CIA friends of Oswald gave him
the job where he shot the president just three weeks before it all happened, (Daily Mail). Oswald
got help from the CIA. The CIA gave him a perfect spot to shoot the president. If he didn t get
that job, then JFK wouldn t have gotten shot. Next, a former CIA agent confessed to the inside
job. A good quote about this is, You kill the president, and your cover is security, and if the
sniper or snipers who kill the president are hidden in with the guys who are supposed to protect
him, guys who have no knowledge of this plot... It makes a lot of sense, (DailyMail) This goes
back to the Grassy Knoll. He is talking about the other people and how they shot JFK, but didn t
get caught because they are part of the team that is tasked to finding the murderer. That is why
no one caught the other shooter because he is part of the law. Lastly, the CIA has a special
tactic. This tactic is when you have different snipers at different locations so it catches people in
a crossfire in more than one direction, (DailyMail). The tactic that they used in the JFK
assassination is one that the CIA has been using for years. It s a simple tactic, you shoot the
suspect from different angles so they can t find cover. Oswald shot the first shot and hit JFK in the
chest and then the second sniper dealt the killing blow. The CIA was definitely involved, the

Benefits Of Classical Instrumental Music Education
Introduction Classical instrumental music education has developed into a luxury that mostly only
the middle classes and higher classes can afford. While classroom music education at schools
provides an overview of musical knowledge and performance, it does not always allow the
opportunity for an in depth specialisation in instrumental practice. Music educationis important for
children s development and should be accessible to all. Multiple studies on the impact of musicon
the brain have been conducted and the field of study is still in its early stages of research, but
experts agree that music education, and especially the practise of a musical instrument, is important
for all children. Unfortunately the cost of music lessons and other barriers restrict its access to
underprivileged children in particular. Non profit organisations around the world are making
classical musiceducation available for free for underprivileged children in the belief that it does not
only help in their development, but can also change a society. El... Show more content on

opportunities they require to make a life as well as a living . Moreover, Burmeister makes a case
for music education in general education through its unique contributions to man, being aesthetic

the benefits of music education is through success: success in society, success in school, success in

Aligarh s First Generation By David Lelyveld
Aligarh s First Generation By David Lelyveld Review The book Aligarh s First Generation by
David Lelyveld is a case study of the Muhammadan Anglo Oriental College , today known as the
Aligarh Muslim University , in its first twenty five years of inception, i.e., from 1875 1900. The
book explores the nature of Muslim cultural identity in India in the nineteenth century, and the
changes it may have undergone in the context of colonial rule. It was the period when the first
generation of Muslims educated in English graduated from the college. The author begins in the
preface by presenting the context of the book by describing the college. The Muhammadan Anglo
Oriental College was also known as Madrasat ul ulum Musalmanan . It was a residential... Show

Its British patrons, who ended up exerting more influence on Aligarh than its founder had intended,
hoped that the new college would create a class of educated Muslims who would be more loyal to
the British and less inclined to agitation than their educated Hindu counterparts. By 1875, when
Aligarh was founded, many British officials were becoming disillusioned with the English
educated, Hindu babu class. Their shrewd adoption of British po litical techniques for the
mobilization of public opinion, their creation of a powerful and all too vocal native press, their
campaigns for more civil service places, made them thorns in the side of a government that had
hoped that education would turn them into docile and appropriately grateful subjects. Members of
the Muslim community, if they could only be persuaded to support the British wholeheartedly,
promised to be stauncher allies because this line of reasoning ran they needed the protection of the
British if they were not to be overwhelmed by the Hindus. It seemed unlikely that English education
would tempt them to agitate for representative government of the British type, because in almost
every electoral contest, Muslims stood to be outvoted. There is no need to impute sinister motives
of divide et impera to the British to comprehend why they sought the favor of leading Muslims and
made a show of supporting Aligarh during its insecure early days. The consequence was that
Aligarh, unlike most Indian managed colleges, could count on indulgent government inspectors,
regular and sustained govern ment grants, and still more tellingly, on the support of successive
British officials who journeyed to its dusty campus, in the spirit of a pilgrimage, to deliver solemn
orations there extolling Anglo Muslim solidarity. It is worth noting that Aligarh was one of the few
appropriate forums for such speeches. They could not conceivably have been delivered

interviewing you about your life as a dancer and choreographer. Are you ready Martha
(interviewee): Yes, let s start. Question 1 C: What was it like during the time and place you lived
in? M: I was born on May 11, 1894 in Allegheny City, which later became a part of Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. It was a very industrial city with many churches, social organizations, factories,
commercial areas, and packing houses. It also had numerous job opportunities for German
immigrants. My family eventually moved to Santa Barbara, California when I was fourteen.
Whilst there, much renovation occurred at the Church, mostly in the sanctuary. I saw my very
first dance performance at the Mason Opera House in Los Angeles, which is about 95 miles
away from Santa Barbara. I moved to New York in 1925 to attend the Eastman School of Music,
and that s where I did a lot of my work. There was a depression in the 1890s, and because of that
immigration rose from 3.5 million to 9 million. Immigrants kept coming from Northern and
Western Europe, but we started receiving immigrants from Eastern and Southern Europe, including
Latin America and Canada. Immigration eventually decreased in 1914 because of the war, and
later in the 1920s with its immigration restrictions. Speaking of the war, it was very hard for

Star Wars Versus Star Trek Essay
Star Wars versus Star Trek. Marvel versus DC. Gandalf versus Dumbledore. Batman versus
Superman. Almost everyone that could be asked could pick a side on these topics and their
even smaller debated parts: Jedi versus Sith, Captain Kirk versus Captain Piccard, etc. Superhero
movies are almost always a hit every year for the summer box office. Except superheroes were
not always everyone s favorite, nor socially accepted in America. This was originally subject
matter that stayed within the confines of a certain social class, the nerds and geeks. Nerd culture
rose within mainstream culture and media through a staunch refusal to be put to the side and
belittled when it did hit big. It has stayed largely and long enough so that most people will tell you
that superheroes and space pilots and all culture is nerd culture now. (Rosenberg, Alyssa)
But something that stung even worse than a towel snap was often getting labeled a nerd or a geek.

were common but the label of nerd or geek was something even worse. Little over 20 years ago
such words were not quirky little things you used to describe yourself as would be used now. Nerd

8 MUST HAVE HUNTING GEAR
Before each hunting trip, you need to be fully prepared or you will only find out that you lack
ammo or rain gear when you arrive at the site. There are tons of things you can bring on a back
pack trip but make sure you bring the essential, like a top rated rifle scope 2015 and basic first aid
kit. Apart from obvious stuff (ammo, water, food), here are things you absolutely can t miss on
your hunting trip.
Backpack
If you spend a lot of money on other items but pay for a cheap, large pack only, you really make a
huge mistake. What will you do with all the food, clothes, ammo and accessories when your pack
fails you in the middle of your hunt? Pay for a durable and high quality backpack that can hold all

Synthetic clothing is recommended because such item can dry very fast; however you should bring
an extra jacket or a sweater just in case. High quality clothing is important but you don t necessarily
have to pay a huge sum for fancy hunting clothing.
First aid kit
When you go hunting, all sorts of injuries can occur and there is no doctor or clinic to help you
on the spot. Your best chance to deal with cuts or scratches is having a first aid kit. Make sure you
customize the kit for your own need and replace all expired medicines with new ones before you

Music Vs. Art Education
Much too often in America today, modern music and art programs in schools are perceived to many
as extracurricular activities rather than important subjects that are vital to a student s learning and
skill development. The truth of the matter is that encouraging music and art education in public
schools has a much larger impact on student s grades, academic performance, and the economy than
the majority people realize. Within the next year city schoolbudgets will be dropping by twenty five
percent, and despite the fact that music and art programs have been showing a dramatic
contribution to student s learning, this substantial drop in funding for the programs will lead to no
dedicated money for art or music programs (Mezzacappa). There is... Show more content on

Music and art are clearly not two subjects that schools today can afford to cut off funding for
based on this evidence. Music and art programs are responsible for increasing school attendance,
which can lead to being one of the most important things in a student s academic success in school.
Students have to attend school and be present in order to attain the information from their classes
and teachers if they wish to succeed. Better attendance means more students are in class, which
means more students are getting the information they need to excel from their teachers, which
ultimately means better grades and test scores for schools. As of today, arts are defined as core
subjects in only twenty six states in America (Mandel). If only twenty six states are treating art
education as a core subject, that means that twenty four states are currently neglecting art programs
and not considering them important to their student s education. If more states are educated on the
importance of art programs for young students, and the arts are defined as core subjects nationally,
then there will be a noticeable increase in academic achievement across the nation. Art programs
have been proven to increase the academic performance of student in schools, and until these
twenty four states treat art as a core subject, their students will continue to

International Market: Whole Foods is only in 2 other countries, UK and Canada. They always have
the option of looking into some of the world s faster growing markets or even the fact that they
could look into expanding throughout UK and Canada.
IT Influence: Competitors of Whole Foods and even some other grocery have been striving for
various ways to enrich the customer experience at their stores, one such way, is the introduction of
self checkouts , which enables the customer to spend less time waiting in line for a cashier. This is
an area, where whole foods could look to capture the opportunity and excel in.
Threats:
Competitors: The list of competitors for Whole Foods keeps on increasing, most grocery stores are
starting to introduce a section of organic/healthy foods section at their store, as a result of which
this could begin to influence Whole Foods customer base.
Gas Prices: When gas prices rise, the cost of shipping food rises, and when the cost of shipping the

Saddam Hussein s Response To The Iraq War
The involvement of America in Iraq and Afghanistan was ill timed, and it was not the best way to
respond to the 9/11 attack by Osama Bin Laden. The rationale of the Bush administration to invade
Iraq was that Saddam Hussein had supported Osama Bin Laden s attacks. However, this claim
made no sense going by the fact that Osama had nothing but disdain for the peculiar regime of one
Saddam Hussein. Additionally, the complaint by the Bush administration that Saddam Hussein was
hiding dangerous weapons of mass destruction turned to be false since the administration had no
evidence to prove it. It later came to be known that President Bush had given an order to officials
of the United Nations investigating the regime of Saddam Hussein for weapons

The Aztecs And The Incas Through Spanish Eyes Essay
During the fifteenth century, two major state based agrarian civilization, Aztec and Inca empires,
played a huge role by making up the population of the Americas. With this being said, a lot of the
Americas history lies within the boundaries of the empires. This history includes literary tradition,
records about the civilizations culture, and observations of the Spanish who conquered them in the
early sixteenth century. Document 12.1 concentrates on giving evidence through the eyes of two
Spanish observers, both of whom at least tried to connect with the civilizations and record first hand
records. By analyzing document 12.1, The Aztecs and the Incas through Spanish Eyes, it allows
people today to have a better understanding and at... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diego Duran wrote these documents for credibility and record so that decades from the fifteenth
century people will have the ability of knowing firsthand accounts of the social hierarchy and
culture of the Aztec realm as an empire.
In the Excerpt Laws, Ordinances, and Regulations, Diego Duran states up to sixteen points about
the Aztec culture; being mostly on how higher powers were respected throughout the palace. The
author simply states Moctezuma s laws without any bias opinion to follow. This leaves the reader
with their own opinion instead of a bias perception. Diego Duran simply wrote this document to
inform the reader about the Aztec s laws and government structure.
Within the document, Laws, Ordinances, and Regulations tell the readers a lot about the social
and moral values of the Aztecs. Majority of the laws pertain to high powers and order to the
Aztecs everyday life rules. The excerpt states, law #3, Only the king and the Prime Minister
Tlacaelel may wear sandals within the palace... This shows the Aztecs moral values, which are
towards upholding their king to a high power and respecting the fact he is the almighty one. The
king must never appear in public except when the occasion is extremely important and
unavoidable. Having the king out of the sight of the public tells the reader that the king is very
powerful and has a sense of holiness to the Aztec people. Other laws have to deal with punishments
for wrongs in the civilization. Most

Personal Narrative- Nearly Fatal Car Accident Essay
The fluorescent lights blinded me as I tried to open my eyes. Where am I, I thought to myself? I
jolted my head back and forth desperately trying to figure out where I was. I heard a voice say,
Hold him down, we are almost there. A sharp pain ran down my back to my feet. All I could see

abruptly and a mask was placed over my face. I tried not to breathe, but in less than a second I was

Cristina Garcia s Dreaming in Cuban Essay
Cristina Garcia s Dreaming in Cuban tells the story about three generations of a Cuban family and
their different views provoked by the Cuban revolution. Though part of the same family, an outsider
might classify them as adversaries judging by relationships between one another, the exiled family
members, and the differentiations between political views. Although all of these central themes
reoccur over and over throughout the narrative, familyrelationships lie at the heart of the tale. The
relationships between these Cuban family members are for the most part ruptured by any or a
combination of the above themes. Every individual relationship mentioned in the book consists of
at least one direct family member of Celia del Pino. Celia... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Poor Lourdes feels unwanted from the beginning of her life with her mother swearing to forget
her; therefore, throughout her life Lourdes feels a lingering resentment, even though the acts by
Celia were purely through emotional displacement brought about by the nastiness of her in
laws. Her mother s doleful rhythm followed them everywhere (Garcia 25). The reader can
plainly see that Lourdes is both embarrassed and ashamed of what her mother was and is
unwillingly to forgive her. Lourdes claimed her mother was dead to garner pity from strangers
so they would buy her sweets, and secretly wished it were true at times. The second reason is
simply a generation difference. One might assume that due to the very different upbringings and
the societies that the two were brought up in, that very conflicting morals and values may have

Each element gave the stage a different feel that matched every scene , complementing each
brilliantly. The only element that lacked for me was lights, although very bright ; in my opinion
the reoccurring blue wasn t the best option. I feel if the lighting designer would have had more
warmer colored lights against the already vibrant set pieces, it would have made the stage pop
more. But one thing i did particularly fancy, were the costumes the characters wore and how
they fit each character. Each character s costume showed the dichotomy between the
personalities and tastes of each individual. For example Ilona played by Jane Krakowski was
dressed in a scarlet / pinkish dress with a high slit up the left side; showing her seductive
character type. Meaning when i saw Ilona on stage, I immediately knew who i was looking at .
Lastly the sound effects included , like the door jingle sound or The bike bell , added to the
whole idea of being inside and outside of a retail building. These effects gave the stage an
outdoorsy feel , drawing you in , giving the audience illusions of really being in 1930 s

As Old As Time Rosalind Quotes

upon the prince to look like a beast. Rosalind and Maurice, Belle s parents, lived in a country
where once witches and wizards lived freely. However, normal people who aren t magical
discriminated against them. I think that some of Rosalind s strengths are selflessness, and
determination. However, she can be very stubborn sometimes, and that isn t always a good thing.
One year in the kingdom, a deadly fever broke out. Belle s parents decided to move away to a small
town where Belle would be safe. Rosalind was very reluctant on leaving her people at first. After
all, she was an enchantress so she wouldn t get the fever. She could have stayed and not worried
about her family s health, but she decided to not risk their health and safety. This shows that

The United States During The Postwar Period
Following the increase in immigration rates to the United States during the postwar period, how
well immigrants do in the US Labour market in terms of earnings and opportunities has been of
great interest to Labour economists. Prior to the early 1960 s systems of immigration quotas such
as the National Origins formula were in place aimed to reduce the number of individuals seeking
to enter and reside in the country, however following the Hart Cellar Act (1965) there was an
upsurge in immigrants relocating to the US. This increase has provided for a lot of data that allows
us to analyze many trends related to immigrationleading to the development of policies that result in
economic well being.

Particularly when looking at returns to education and work experience, individuals migrating from
countries with different socio economic backgrounds may not possess human capital that is
transferable in the host country. In a study comparing migrants from neighboring countries with
German immigrants, Schmidt (1997) concluded that the immigrants who completed their primary,
secondary and higher education in Germany had similar earnings to native workers, while
immigrants who completed their education outside the host country earned significantly lower.
Bratsberg, Barth and Raaum (2006) find that growth in immigrant wages are a function of the time
spent in the host country as immigrants will typically earn less pay during the first years after
permanently moving. Immigrants are placed directly at a disadvantage in the labour market as
soon as they ve immigrated (Chiswick 1978). Given the recurring emphasis of this factor in the
literature I include a year moved to the US variable to capture work experience in host country and
the time the individual had to get well integrated. The direct effects of education on wages have
been well documented, however there continues to remain unobservable factors correlated with
education that can affect wages, such as the lack of equal opportunity in the access to education.

proactive in improving its energy efficiency and environmental performance (Hahn, 2010, p. 1). It
has also made a substantial effort to live up to its corporate social responsibility (Hahn, 2010, p. 1).

Host Europe should make an effort to educate its customers of the realities and benefits of
virtualization. If it is able to convince customers to switch to virtual servers, it will enhance its
profits by reduced energy costs. Host Europe may even consider pricing virtual servers lower than
dedicated servers, which are servers that do not share hardware. The loss of profit may be made up
through the previously mentioned reduced energy costs.
Highly Specialized and Gender Shift Employees
While Host Europe provides a wide range of benefits for employees (memberships for a local
gym, ergonomic workplaces, catered food, staff development, open door policy, family benefits
such as a day care for kids, etc.) there remains a low proportion of women currently working for the
company.
Host Europe can potentially increase the proportion of women by continuing to offer a family
friendly environment, which includes support in childcare and its own daycare center. There was
no mention of maternity leave, but this should also be highlighted and embedded as a benefit. The
company can also offer scholarships for women in the ICT sector to invest into the future.
The other issue Host Europe can address is their need to hire more specialized employees. The
company can obtain more specialized employees by investing in specialized

To fully analyze Spring Creek, the collected samples must be representative of the depth and
width of this creek. To make sure that the width of all the samples was represented, the boat

Common Types Of Blood Borne Pathogens
There are so many ways to be infected by disease or a virus. It s very dangerous to be affected by
a virus because it can mean death to a human being if not treated right away. One of the deadliest
types of viruses are Blood borne pathogens. Blood borne pathogens are normally transmitted to a
human by a bodily fluid from a contaminated person. They can enter your body through open cuts,
mucus membranes, skin abrasions or even sharing needles. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV),
Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C are the most common types of blood borne pathogens. These 3 types
are very deadly to humans. These pathogens have been affecting humans for a very long time.
The first known case for HIV was in 1959, at the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Later on in

War 2 soldiers were hospitalized for Hepatitis C. Some of these blood borne pathogens were
discovered very recently. During the times they were discovered they destroyed many lives. All

How Did King Henry Viii Downfall
The court of Henry VIII was known to be a prestigious and luxurious place for those close to the
king; yet it was a dangerous and cruel place for those suspected of plotting against the crown.
The king was known to be paranoid about the idea that a noble in his court would snatch the
throne from Tudor control (Inside). Whisperings and rumor became many a courtier s downfall
and many victims were sent to the tower (Layton). Even with danger around every corner, many
nobles, and even some peasants, became rich and immensely powerful (Inside). When the young
Prince Henry first took the throne as king of England in 1509, the people loved him (Inside ).
They thought Henry would stop the financial corruption of his father s court, which stole money
from the citizens of England under the thin disguise of taxes in order to place the monarchy in

Since the 19th Century, professional social work and state allocation of resources has gone through endless evolutions and revolutions, from deciding on the future of the Victorian s mad paupers , those insane, idle, disabled or recipients of poor relief, (Thane, 1996), to supporting the service users of today to take charge of their own care. This essay will explore this evolution of social work and the British welfare society, paying particular attention to the theories of Anti discriminatory Practice (ADP) and Anti oppressive Practice (AOP), two fundamental aspects of modern day social work; illustrated by the example of this shift in societal perceptions and treatment of the mad poor to the mental health service user and consider throughout whether social work has maintained, or lost its way from, its grounding philanthropic values. The origins of the social work as a profession is typically accredited to the Victorian 19th Century as a means of helping the those in need, whilst simultaneously easing the anxiety of social disorder at that time (Payne, 2005b); however, the practice of social work can be seen much earlier on. Aristotle lays down groundwork of a tragic hero as being essentially good. They are neither villain nor saint because they have flaws. Several elememts are nevcesary to have a tragic hero, they are the tragic flaw, the reversal, recognition, and hubris. These generally make up the story of the tragic hero, and in the case of Jocasta, the wife and mother of Oedipus in Sophocles Oedipus the King, she posses all three. She respects the gods, but not the oracles. She tries to lead Oedipus to adopt this standpoint as well, telling him of the prophecy told to Laius and herself, and how that prophecy did not come to pass. After telling Oedipus that he need not worry about the words of a prophet she tells him, Whatever the god needs and seeks he ll bring to light himself, with ease. (Sophocles line 799 800). Later she goes to Apollo s temple and asks for his guidance, saying that they are in the grip of fear, beseeching his help for Oedipus and saying, I come with prayers and offerings...I beg you, cleanse us, set us free of defilement! (Sophocles line 1009 1010). She does not yet realize that the defilement cannot be cleansed. Hubris Her only flaw is disregard for the prophets; she never disregards the gods themselves. Her disbelief in them is sound, and she maintains her belief in the gods. In this way it is hubris, her overwhelming pride or belief that she thwarted the earlier prophecy. It is still this flaw which is a part of her tragic downfall. The Reversal Peripetia, or the reversal, is another element of the tragic hero. The book explores the nature of Muslim cultural identity in India in the nineteenth century, and the changes it may have undergone in the context of colonial rule. Its British patrons, who ended up exerting more influence on Aligarh than its founder had intended, hoped that the new college would create a class of educated Muslims who would be more loyal to the British and less inclined to agitation than their educated Hindu counterparts. By 1875, when Aligarh was founded, many British officials were becoming disillusioned with the English educated, Hindu babu class. Their shrewd adoption of British po litical techniques for the mobilization of public opinion, their creation of a powerful and all too vocal native press, their campaigns for more civil service places, made them thorns in the side of a government that had hoped that education would turn them into docile and appropriately grateful subjects. Members of the Muslim community, if they could only be persuaded to support the British wholeheartedly, promised to be stauncher allies because this line of reasoning ran they needed the protection of the British if they were not to be overwhelmed by the Hindus. It seemed unlikely that English education would tempt them to agitate for representative government of the British type, because in almost every electoral contest, Muslims stood to be outvoted. There is no need to impute sinister motives of divide et impera to the British to comprehend why they sought the favor of leading Muslims and made a show of supporting Aligarh during its insecure early days. The consequence was that Aligarh, unlike most Indian managed colleges, could count on indulgent government inspectors, regular and sustained govern ment grants, and still more tellingly, on the support of successive British officials who journeyed to its dusty campus, in the spirit of a pilgrimage, to deliver solemn orations there extolling Anglo Muslim solidarity. It was a very industrial city with many churches, social organizations, factories, commercial areas, and packing houses. It also had numerous job opportunities for German immigrants. My family eventually moved to Santa Barbara, California when I was fourteen. Whilst there, much renovation occurred at the Church, mostly in the sanctuary. I saw my very first dance performance at the Mason Opera House in Los Angeles, which is about 95 miles away from Santa Barbara. I moved to New York in 1925 to attend the Eastman School of Music, and that s where I did a lot of my work. Within the document, Laws, Ordinances, and Regulations tell the readers a lot about the social and moral values of the Aztecs. Majority of the laws pertain to high powers and order to the Aztecs everyday life rules. The excerpt states, law #3, Only the king and the Prime Minister Tlacaelel may wear sandals within the palace... Cristina Garcia s Dreaming in Cuban Essay Cristina Garcia s Dreaming in Cuban tells the story about three generations of a Cuban family and their different views provoked by the Cuban revolution. Though part of the same family, an outsider might classify them as adversaries judging by relationships between one another, the exiled family members, and the differentiations between political views. Although all of these central themes reoccur over and over throughout the narrative, familyrelationships lie at the heart of the tale. The relationships between these Cuban family members are for the most part ruptured by any or a combination of the above themes. Each character s costume showed the dichotomy between the personalities and tastes of each individual. For example Ilona played by Jane Krakowski was dressed in a scarlet / pinkish dress with a high slit up the left side; showing her seductive character type.
