The Making of Coco Chanel
Coco Chanel was born on the 19th of August in 1883 in Sammur, France her parents giving her
the name Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel. When Coco was around 12 her mother passed away this
provoked her father to abandoned her and her 5 siblings, she and her sisters were sent to a
convent for abandoned girls and her brothers were sent to work. The time she spent in the
convent was a dark time therefor she didn t like to speak of but she reflected in some of her
pieces as she used the tones and shapes from walking along the corridor. Once she finally became
of age and left the convent she became a seamstress beginning her life into fashion but she also
became a cabaret singer where she was given the name Coco.
A few years later in 1909 she opened a millinery shop at 160 Boulevard Malesherbes where she
designed and sold hats. These hats were simple yet elegant, a change from the heavily decorated
hats of the time. During this time she supposedly began her affair with Boy Chapel. He introduced
her to the world of wealth, paying for the first shops she opened and greatly influencing her fashion
sense. They re affair was on and off but lasted till his death in 1919, the mourning of his death
helped influence Chanel No.5. The sorrow she felt from his death inspired her designing.
Her fashion was like no other, she used blacks and greys which was only thought of to wear to
occasions like funerals but she turned this stereotype around and created the little black dress. Over

Positive Risk Taking Essay
Unit 24
1 1.1
For many people risk is an accepted part of everyday life. Every day activities such as catching the
bus, travelling on holiday, playing football, setting up home and starting a family all carry some
element of risk.
Risk plays a part in our health, safety, security, well being, employment, education, daily activities,
using resources and equipment and in community participation. But some adults, for example
disabled people or older people, are often discouraged from taking risks.
Traditionally they are not encouraged to take risks in areas such as budgeting, planning,
employment and daily living skills. This may be either because of their perceived limitations or fear
that they or others might be harmed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

There are a variety of different ways in which medicine can be administered. * Orally
The majority of medicines are administered this way via tablets, liquids etc.
* Sublingually
This is where tablets or capsules are placed under the tongue for fast absorption.
* Inhalation
This is most commonly used by asthma patients. It delivers the medicine directly to the lungs.
* Intramuscular injection
This is injected directly into large muscles (usually legs or bum). This can only be done by a
doctor or nurse.
* Intravenous injection
This is injected straight directly into the veins. Medicines are rapidly absorbed into the body. This
can only be performed by a doctor or trained nurse.
* Subcutaneous injection
This form of medicine is injected directly under the skin. After training care staff may provide this

Perceived Normality And Aesthetic Desire Analysis
Perceived Normality and Aesthetic Desire A mother sits on the cold metallic examination table of
her doctor s office, feet crisscrossed and tightly held together. Her doctor walks into the room, head
heavy, and breaks the news; prenatally screening has shown that the mother s future bundle of joy
has a genetic disorder, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, CAH. The motherin bewilderment asks what
the course of treatment would look like and what exactly CAH is, she seeks a plan, a way to
ensure the healthof the child. The doctor lays out what CAH is and the implications that will be
presented after birth, but sidesteps and introduces a new topic to the conversation, appearance of
genitals.
The doctor states that if the child is a girl, she runs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When an illness is becoming medicalized it can appear to be fueled by three factors; influence
of the medical profession, social movements, and directed organizational activity (Conrad, 3 4).
Medicalization can be useful in giving knowledge to individuals dealing with an unknown
predicament, but sometimes, like the case in CAH, it can be questioned to if a medicalized
stance on an illness is necessary. A key example of medicalization of a physical condition that
aligns with the genital concerns of CAH would be male impotence. This condition, like ambiguous
genitals, does not have a negative impact on the physical health of the individual at all, but a drug,
Viagra, has been administered to men anyway (Conrad, 6). The side effects of Viagra range from
the minute stuffy nose to very serious concerns such as memory problems and loss of hearing.
Despite these risks, men continue to take the medication because of the aesthetic around being able
to perform in the bedroom. This can be translated into the prenatal usage of

The Vanquished Auguste Rodin Essay
Auguste Rodin was born in Paris in on November 12, 1840. He was born into a poor family and
his father was a policeman. Although he was a talented artist as a teenager, he lacked
encouragement which made him choose a different career. Rodin worked as a bricklayer for 20
years. Then he went to Italy and during his stay he found inspiration there. On his return to Paris,
he sculpted his first major piece, The Age of Bronze , originally named The Vanquished . Rodin
said that, Much as I love the Greeks, there is one thing I love more and that is nature. (AMA 130).
This is very true of his sculptures. Although there is the presence of a body you can see the true
nature of emotion through it.
School was hard for Rodin because he had a hard time reading, but he took interest in drawing. He
started taking art classes when he turned 13. This is when students and teachers gave him no
recognition on his art and Rodin started doubting himself. At 17 years old, he applied ... Show more

Italy is known for the deep art history with artists like Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael to
name just a few. Rodin was inspired so much by these artists that he made his first major piece,
The Vanquished . It was made in 1876 and stands at six feet tall, making it a life size sculptureof a
nude man. This sculpture showed his attention to such detail that when people came to see this
sculpture they did not like how real it looked. People rumored that it was a fake sculpture. In the
1800 s art had to be made for a reason and it had to have a theme. It does not represent most art
from that time that had to with mythology. With its lack of purpose critics did not see The
Vanquished as real art. All of the criticisms made him change the name to The Age of Bronze . This
also led to changing his style from something realistic to more naturalistic abstracted ideas. To do
this he stopped being detailed and showed the inner turmoil s of human emotion through their

Statistics In Sociology
In this experiment, data was collected from 44 participants, which came from an undergraduate
statistics lab class at Florida Atlantic University, members of the Palm Beach Hindu Mandir,
and friends and relatives of the authors of this study. The sample was 30% male (N = 13) and
70% female (N = 31). Participants ranged in age from 15 to 61 with the average being 28 years
(M= 28.09, SD= 14.178). The participants all voluntarily filled out an online survey originally
sent out to the class. The authors both participated and gave their own survey responses. In order

Anything over five was not considered for this study. This is because for the purposes of this
study, anything over five times a year is considered a significant amount of times to be ill. In
this experiment, the main goal is to find a possible correlation between whether a person makes
their bed daily or not and around how many times they are sick in a year. We hypothesize that
making one s bed daily promotes good health habits, therefore preventing one from being ill
frequently. Due to this, we predict that participants that reportedly make their beds daily will
also report fewer instances of being sick per year, with most responses estimated to land around
1 3 times per year. The main independent variable being studied is whether participants make
their bed daily, and the dependent variable would be how often they are sick in a year. There are
some other independent variables that could impact the relationship, such as gender and age,
because they too have an influence on the health of a person. Due to this, we asked participants to
report that information as well, so we can take it into account when running data tests and drawing
conclusions. Results Our independent variable for this study is whether participants make up their
beds every morning. The dependent variable for this study is how many times a year participants
get sick. Other independent variables recorded were gender and age. We ran a bivariate correlation

The Four Books Of Gospel Are Found In The New Testament
The four books of Gospel are found in the New Testament with names of Matthew, Mark, Luke,
and John. These four Gospels were included in the New Testament disregarding which is most
accurate, because all four Gospels portray different perspectives of Jesus. The four books of
Gospel are divided into Synoptics (Matthew, Mark, Luke), and John. Matthew portrays Jesusas
Messiah, Mark portrays Him as Suffering Servant, and Luke portrays Jesus as Universal Savior.
The Gospelof John portrays Jesus as Son of God. John is not part of the Synoptics Gospel because
Synoptics focus on God s kingdom while John focuses on who Jesus is. Each book supports their
views of Jesus with their texts.

describe Himself as Son of Man) that He must be rejected suffer and be killed by the people who
were supposed to welcome him. Jesus was later seen in end of Mark that He was crucified by
teachers of law and resurrected after death. Mark 10:45 (NRSV) remarks, For the Son of Man
came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many. Jesus came to the
world so that He could serve other people because he loved them. It was shown in Gospel of
John how Jesus was washing disciples feet before the Passover even though He was their
teacher. Mark 10:34 (NRSV) describes, they will mock him, and spit upon him, and flog him,
and kill him; and after three days he will rise again. The horrible things described in here was
later fulfilled by Jesus which He suffered Mark s primary focus of Jesus serving and suffering
without other details distracting the readers. The Gospel of Mark is divided into first half about
Jesus serving in His ministry and second half about Jesus suffering. The first half of Mark contains

Consumerisms In Recession
The recession that will be focused on is the most recent 2007 2009 recession. This recession cost
the US labor market 8.4 million jobs. Job loss is one of the hardest things to recover from after a
recession. Stocks go up, consumers continue with their purchases as some of them release times
are getting better. However the economy is a rollercoaster, it goes from being at the top of the
track with stocks high, and jobs growing each day to slowly descending to a crash, or in the
reference of the rollercoaster descending off of the hill that it climbed to. Consumers in today s
society see a recession as a new trend, and the way they spend reflects as such during this time.

Previously society experienced the rise and fall more sporadically, however today, the
recessions are so close together that it is becoming more and more difficult to analyze the space
in between. In the recessions of 1974 1975 the government leaders, who took the iniative to alert
people that in the coming year they would experience a downturn, foresaw the recession. This
recession was recorder to be the worst since the 1930 s, for an accumulation of reasons; the
largest factor being the American aggression in the Vietnam War . Paul Volcker was a critic on the
American dollar and the American s involvement by stating Our failure to face up to the financing
of the Vietnam war [was] one key factor in setting up the subsequent inflation . This is a statement
that could be used for any recession. Simply by changing the war, and the point in which the quote
could be referring to, there is the leading cause to a recession. However, the war would then affect
the natural state of the economy. Without the war the government would have used the money
elsewhere, would have gone where it needs to go, or would the government find another cause to
invest in? The questions of government spending follows a dangerous line of whether the money
spent in one place was worth it. However, with the investment in war, it puts a deficit on the
country, which leads

DNA Complications In Biology
1 using Other proteins unwind the template DNA and stabilize single stranded regions: Helicases
unwind the two strands of parental DNA ahead of the replication fork. Single stranded DNA
binding proteins then stabilize the unwound template DNA, keeping it in an extended single
stranded state so that it serve as templates for new DNAsynthesis. Single stranded DNA binding
proteins (SSB) have high affinity to single stranded (ss) DNA and participate in DNA replication,
recombination, and repair as accessory protein .SSB plays a role in separating DNA strand during
replication and prevent ssDNA from re form a double helix.

DnaA is a member of the AAA+ family of ATPases. DnaA directly stimulates DNA replication
initiation from a single defined origin of replication (oriC) once per cell cycle. Multiple ATP
bound DnaA molecules bind to an array of recognition sequences (DnaA box 5′ TTATCCACA
3′) within oriC where they assemble into a helical filament that promotes duplex DNA
unwinding so the amount of ATP bound DnaA dictates the rate of DNA replication initiation.
Artificial overexpression of DnaA increases the frequency of DNA replication initiation
5 Adjust The growth curve (four phases) of bacteria: cells initially adjust to the new medium (lag
phase) until they can start dividing regularly by the process of binary fission (exponential phase).
When their growth becomes limited, the cells stop dividing (stationary phase), until eventually
they show loss of viability (death phase). Note the parameters of the x and y axes. Growth is
expressed as change in the number viable cells vs time.
The cells divide at a constant rate depending upon the composition of the growth medium and the
conditions of incubation. The rate of exponential growth of a bacterial culture is expressed as
generation time, also the doubling time of the bacterial population ( the doubling time in fast
growing cells is less as compared to the slow growth). The microorganisms are rapidly growing and

Nursing Nurse And Skills On The Management Of Wound
Description
During the first week of our new nurses in a surgical ward, I was supervising one of the
supernumerary nurses. We were looking after a thirty nine year old woman, Ms LC, who had
undergone a laparoscopic peritonectomy. We had to start her on a negative pressure wound therapy
dressing or NPWT; as suggested by wound clinical nurse consultant and the doctors during their
ward round, since this would allow the fast healing of her wound.
I showed the supernumerary nurse the proper way of preparing an NPWT using a non touch
sterile technique, started by slowly cleaning the surrounding skin prior to the application of the
pressure dressing. Since it was the first time of the preceptee to perform a pressure dressing, I
have provided my preceptee the principles of wound management so that it will reinforce the
knowledge of the supervised nurse and skills on the management of wound using NPWT. I also
provided the preceptee the protocols and the wound management chart to take note of the type of
solutions to be used in managing a surgical wound. We also documented in the progress notes what
we have performed, and informed the nurse in charge on the frequency of dressing change in a
week.
Feelings
During the procedure it gave me an opportunity to share my knowledge about the proper
management of a surgical wound. I felt relieved knowing that I was able to develop the skills of
my preceptee in the aspect of wound care and knowing that the patient was also involved in the

Network Server Security
Network Server Security
The network server at focus in this study is one utilized primarily for data storage and internal
application sharing as well as for securing numerous desktop computers connected to the
network. This work will describe access control that would be put in place for each of these with
explanations on why these would be used. A message of at least 20 characters will be generated
using a Vigener cipher keys that is at least three letters long, The message will be encrypted along
with an explanation of how secure this message is and why. The form of security chose for the
network will be identified with physical and electronic security considered. Included will be virus
checks, firewalls, and encryption protocols as well as any access protocols explaining how each
secures the network. This work will additionally list three specific project goals which if met
would reduce or alleviate any problems or deficiencies.
I. Database Access for Data Storage and Internal Application Sharing and Desktop Computers
Security controls for the network system involves the creation of access and use for each user or
user group. The control is used to restrict a list of possible actions down to the allowed actions. For
example, encryption can be used to restrict access to data, application controls to restrict processing
via authentication, and DRM storage to prevent unauthorized accesses. (Securosis, 2012) The
necessary controls are determined by first listing out

Snow Falling On Cedars Racism
Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson is a novel that follows Kabuo Miyamoto, a veteran of
the Vietnam War. Throughout the novel, Kabuo and his family must face some of the hardships of
the war and it s consequences. War is a recurring theme in this novel that seems to directly influence
not only the veterans and their families, but the American society as a whole. Three ways war
impacts lives are through the enhancement of racism, separation of family, and trauma.
In Snow Falling on Cedars, the San Piedro community had been passively racist towards the
Japanese citizens throughout the entirety of the novel. While the community was not overtly racist
to the Japanese citizens, they did not stand up for the injustices put upon the Japanese. ... Show

Before the bombings, the war, and the chaos, Ishmael and Hatsue were teenagers in love. The
two rebellious teens would sit inside a cedar tree for hours and talk about the world. There had
already been pre existing complications in their relationship such as Hatsue s mother, who
discouraged Hatsue from talking to white boys such as Ishmael. However, after the draft began
and the bombings occurred, the chance of Hatsue and Ishmael carrying out a wholesome
relationship went from somewhat likely to almost nonexistent. Because the war resulted in Hatsue
being shipped off to an internment camp, she and Ishmael would be unable to meet each other in
their secret cedar tree on the beachside. Instead, the two lovers would separate further and have to
write to each other, leaving room for the possibility of someone discovering their letters and
intervening. That exact scenario happened when a letter from Ishmael reached the internment camp
which Hatsue was being held captive in. Her mother read Ishmael Chamber s letter standing in the
middle of the tar paper hut with one hand on her forehead. While she read her lips moved rapidly.
Her eyes blinked severely and often (223). Hatsue s mother became furious with the letter and
demanded that Hatsue write a letter to Ishmael immediately breaking up with him. Hatsue felt

Dbq Cuban Missile Crisis
Justified, righteous, fair, and reasonable. Alike in definition, these words can all be used to
describe the installation of Soviet missiles in Cuba. America had tried to invade Cuba and
overthrow Fidel Castro on numerous occasions, the Soviets who were allies with Cuba decided it
was time to step in and support their comrades. In October 1962, a two week matter took place,
after an American spy plane found 40 nuclear missiles installed by the Soviets, in Cuba, the event
later became known as the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Americans did not approve of these Soviet
missiles, because they were 90 miles away from their country, but Khrushchev was not satisfied
with the U.S. having missiles pointed at his country either. This led to a small dispute... Show more

First off, the U.S planned an attack called the Bay of Pigs, which was one of their tactics to
invade Cuba and overthrow Fidel Castro. Their plan was to train exiled Cubans so that they
could be sent to Cuba in effort to overthrow Castro. ( The Bay of Pigs ).The installation of
missiles were to further prevent any events like this of happening, so it gave the USSR every
reason to continue to defend their ally who was being attacked. On top of that, the Soviets did
not even retort in aggression, even though it would have been reasonable if they did. Why could
they have not placed missiles in Cuba if they decided to not retaliate in violence? Months later,
America scheduled Operation Mongoose yet another tactic to kill Castro. They attempted to
have Castro removed, overthrown, and out of office in Cuba, but did not succeed ( The Bay of
Pigs Invasion and Its Aftermath ). After the second time America tried to overthrow Castro it
definitely justified the Soviet storing of missiles. The saying The first time is a mistake, but the
second time is a choice, applies to this situation. Cuba being attacked by the Americans the first
time was kind of like the mistake in the saying but the second attempt of invasion can be
compared to the choice in the saying. The final quote that proves the Soviet missiles were
defensive comes from Khrushchev, we were very grieved...that an attack on Cuba was committed,
as a result of which many Cubans perished. You yourself told me then that this had been a mistake.
I respected that explanation (Khrushchev). A summary of Khrushchev s word is that he responded
kindly to the attempted attacks and did not try to overrun America after their acts of violence,
even though he had the option to do so. The USSR was very fair and calm and reacted well to

Summary Of To Abide By Sol Lewitt
3, To abide by Sol LeWitt s conception of creating geometric shapes and detailed line drawings, I
create a detailed line drawing. Lines in the drawing are disciplinary, which two lines crossed are
like L , so many different L lines form regular forms. To follow the most significant rules of the
conception, straight lines must be crossed from corner to corner, or you can draw nothing in one

The Waste Of Waste Management Centres
As our global population continues on a steady rise so does our product consumption, which
naturally leads to an increase in waste production. The vast amount of waste that we are
manufacturing ultimately lands up in our oceans, lakes, rivers, alley ways, backyards and parks
creating what are known as garbage towns. This would introduce health risks to individuals and the
community as a whole. These risks could also include exposure to dangerous chemicals that poses
detrimental effects on the environment. To avoid this from happening governments have created
landfills. Landfills are a place to dispose of refuse and other wastematerial by burying it and
covering it over with soil, especially as a method of filling in or extending usable land. (Webster
Dictionary). In an even more extravagant attempt to keep waste material out of the streets and non
biodegradable products out of the ground and keeping organic material together governments have
added recyclingand composting plants to landfills to make waste management centres. In waste
management centres they may separate the material there and transport it to its respective plant, or
have the respective plants built in. We researched the effects and consequences of constructing
and operating a landfill in the north west area, there are various benefits and drawbacks of said
waste management centre. After weighing the pros and cons based on our specific region, we
decided to accept the idea of a landfill operating in our

Understanding Variable Shortening And The Himalayan Thrust...
Understanding variable shortening rates in the Himalayan thrust belt of Sikkim and western Bhutan
using various thermochronologic data.
An NSF proposal written by
Sameer Baral
Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences
University of Houston, Houston, TX, USA
Introduction Crustal shortening is the primary result of a continent continent collision in the
orogenic thrust belts. Several techniques have been applied to understand the shortening rates in
active collisional belts like the Himalayas. These estimates have been derived by Global
Positioning System (GPS) for shorter timescales and balanced cross sections for longer time scales
(Long et al., 2012). The preliminary studies conducted in the eastern Himalayas using GPS states
that modern shortening rates are in the order of ~15 20 mm/yr to 20 12 mm/yr (Bilhan et al., 1997;
Larson et al., 1999; Banerjee and Burgmann, 2002; Zhang et al., 2004). Using balanced cross
section techniques DeCelles et al., (2002) and Long et al., (2011b) estimated that close to 400 670
km of crustal shortening has been accommodated in eastern thrust belt during 23 25 Ma range,
giving the shortening rate of 16 29 mm/yr. Both of these techniques provides shortening rates that
are quite similar and shows the motion along basal dГЁcollement have been constant through time
(Herman et al., 2010). While the shortening rates seems constant throughout the Himalayan thrust
belt, petrologic, geochronologic, and structure studies suggest

Samsung Competitive Advantage
Further development of the enterprise depends on way it performs under outer factors of the
market. Regarding Porter s model of business competition forces, the company s position is
analyzed throughout five aspects (Mind Tools Editor Team, 2016). There is a significant threat of
the new competitions as this company is not the only retailer company in the world of electronics
and gadgets. Buyer s behavior defines the future effectiveness of the company as it mostly depends
on the way representatives of the target market are ready to buy top notch products by Apple and
Samsung. On this level of business performance, individual success of the company is closely
connected with the way these companies present themselves and their products on the market. At
the same time, the position of the enterprise s suppliers is vital as they define the competitiveness
and variety of goods to present to the customers. Finally, the competitiveness between the existing
members of the market my significantly influences the GWEL s performance throughout the first
several years. Apparently, the GWEL expects to invest a significant amount of income into further
development of the company for the following five years concerning strong positions of the
competitors on the market. To get a competitive advantage, the GWEL has a developed approach
towards each of the five aspects. The enterprise defines it activity through analysis of the

The Wounded Warrior Project ( Wwp )
In 2003, John Melia started The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) as a basement operation that
donated backpacks full of goods to wounded warriors. Not long after their inception, Melia hired
a few employees including future CEO of WWP Steven Nardizzi. Together they began raising
millions of dollars and broadening their services for veterans. By 2009 the company had grown to
over 50 employees and $ 21 millionin revenue. This was when Nardizzi wanted to get more
aggressive with marketing and expansion; which is where Melia and Nardizzi differed. Melia felt
he lost control of his organization and in turn resigned.
Since Nardizzi took over as CEO, WWP has become one of the largest veteran charities to date,
taking in nearly $372 million in donations in 2015. This rapid rise in capital derived from new
management, aggressive fundraising styles, and strategic marketing tactics. Many former and
current employees, veterans, and donors began to wonder whether the mission of WWP had
transitioned from helping veterans to profiting millions and building a brand. Either way the
organization was more successful than it had ever been; now they had all the capital they needed to
make even more of difference within the wounded warrior committee.

Forest Fires
FOREST FIRES
A forestfire is any uncontrolled fire in combustible vegetation that occurs in the countryside or a
wilderness area.[1][2] Other names such as brush fire, bushfire, forest fire, grass fire, hill fire, peat
fire, vegetation fire, veldfire, and wildland fire may be used to describe the same phenomenon
depending on the type of vegetation being burned. A wildfirediffers from other fires by its
extensive size, the speed at which it can spread out from its original source, its potential to change
direction unexpectedly, and its ability to jump gaps such as roads, rivers and fire breaks.[3] Forest
fires are characterized in terms of the cause of ignition, their physical properties such as speed of

This fuel type is especially susceptible to ignition due to spotting. Ground fires typically burn
by smoldering, and can burn slowly for days to months, such as peat fires in Kalimantan and
Eastern Sumatra, Indonesia, which resulted from a riceland creation project that unintentionally
drained and dried the peat.[29][30] * Crawling or surface fires are fueled by low lying
vegetation such as leaf and timber litter, debris, grass, and low lying shrubbery.[31] * Ladder
fires consume material between low level vegetation and tree canopies, such as small trees,
downed logs, and vines. Kudzu, Old World climbing fern, and other invasive plants that scale
trees may also encourage ladder fires.[32] * Crown, canopy, or aerial fires burn suspended

Theme Of Hero In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Various heroic characteristics emerges within the plot and the journey of Gilgamesh in The
Epic of Gilgamesh. Hero is defined as a person who goes out and achieves great deeds on behalf
of the group, tribe, civilization (Hero s Journey, 1). In the tablets, Gilgamesh was just the tall,
magnificent and terrible , who had superpowers such as opening passes in the mountains or
crossing the ocean (Gilgamesh, 2), but he is known to be a hero among many people in the past
until today. Every heroes that exist in myths or epics had similar life patterns, and Joseph

Cedar Forest and knew how to survive in the wild, Gilgamesh could rely on him while going
through the journey (Gilgamesh Meeting the Mentor, 1). The other main mentor was Ninsun, his
mother, who was clever and wise, well versed in everything, (The Epic of Gilgamesh, 23). She

Analysis Of The Book Holy Cow An Indian Adventure By...
Holy Cow, An Indian Adventure, by Sarah MacDonald, is a book written describing Sarah s
experience living in India. She goes through many tough times and endures life changing
experiences that eventually make her the person she is meant to be. In this book Sarah relates India
to western perspective several times. India and the United Statesdo have similarities, India and the
United States both are run by a Democracy, they both have very strong cast systems; both have
their own Hollywood films, and both places have many religions mixed within. India like the
United States has a Democracy for their form of Government. India is a free nation with rights
given to the people and laws to protect them. Although India s Democracy is not exactly like the
United States it is set up very similar. In the book Sarah doesn t talk about India s Government
and never runs into any trouble by authorities, although she does mention that India has a
Democracy. This means India is a free nation and allows people to have opportunities for
individuals to decide which ones they would like to take. Within the Democracy, India like the
U.S. has a strongly defined cast system. Since India allows people to live freely, some people are
very successful, some get by modestly, and others live in poverty. These three levels make up
India s cast system. Just like India the United States has an upper class, middle class, and lower
class. Each class is based off of income level and quality of living.

Glenn Cunningham was only eight years old when the accident had happened. Before school
every morning, he always arrived early to heat up the room by putting a light fuel oil called
kerosene in the coal stove. One morning when he had arrived to school, he went to put the
kerosene in the stove and there was an accident. Someone had wrongly added gasoline to the
kerosene and when the gasoline was added to the stove, the whole school had caught on fire.
Nobody else had been at the school until the teacher had arrived for work and noticed the flames.
She knew for sure that Cunningham was inside of the school and when she had found him he was
barely alive. Cunningham was pulled out of the fire and rushed to the nearest hospital. The doctors

Technology Standards For The Outsourcing Of The Software
Technology Standards
The first technology standard relating to the outsourcing of the software writing would be the
Base Operating System. The two teams must decide on a base OS to be used. This will allow for
easier sharing, troubleshooting, and future support of the product. This need for this standard is
because most programing software packages offer solutions for Windows, Linux, Unix, MAC.
The issue arises if one team is using one OS platform and the other is using another, even if they
are using the same application to write the code there may be differences which could cause
problems in future bug fixes.
The idea of a standard platform goes beyond the writing suite and extends into all expects of the
work. This primary standard will be a basis for all other applications chosen by the company from
email to collaboration.
The Second concern would be the level of encryption for the SSL VPN. The level indicated by the
India group is very poor and considered unsecure by most measures. The ability to break the
encryption is much easier with the lower bit encryption used. Both teams need to agree on a
minimum encryption to use that would be both secure enough to ensure that data is not
compermised but yet not so intrusive to the data that causes lag in transmission. The outsourcing
company in India would should have a good understanding of the legal specifications of encryption
for data moving between the 2 companies. Generally there is a max encryption put in

What Is The Purpose Of Bureaucracy InJust Do What The...
In the articles Just Do What the Pilot Tells You by Theodore Dalrymple and Genocidal Killer in
the Mirror by Crispin Sartwell, the authors both support the claim that people appeal to authority
through bureaucracy and hierarchy. A bureaucracy is a system of government where nearly most
of the important decisions are made by state officials, rather than by an elected representative.
Sartwell concludes that people included in the bureaucracy fixed the society to do what they
wanted him to do and to react to things a certain kind of way, and Dalrymple understands that
everyone has to answer to someone. For example, a teacher has to answer to the principle and the
principal has to answer to the superintendent. So, like a hierarchy, everyone has to answer to
someone. A hierarchy is a system or organization where people or groups are ranked one above
the other according to their status or authority. While both provide some clarification of the same
process, Sartwell believes that bureaucracies are the greatest evils of society. And while Dalrymple
agrees on the topic, he asserts that nearly most of the time we should follow authority in a
technologically advanced society. Dalrymple asserts that the interests of patients come from the
hierarchy among doctors and that it s their job to take full responsibility for the care of their
patients, Sartwell believes that those included in the bureaucracy mobilized a society to do what
they wanted and react to things in a certain kind

Imagery In Nothing Gold Can Stay
In Nothing Gold Can Stay Robert Frost uses to imagery, symbols, and personification to support
his theme that no beauty or youth is perpetual and withers as time walks on. The poem Nothing
Gold Can Stay was first published in 1923 in America by the acclaimed author Robert Frost whom
at the time was thought to have a hostile view towards nature (Twentieth Century Literary
Criticism). Imagery in literature refers to use of descriptive terms in the hopes of making the reader
experience the scenery of the text in their mind. Symbols are utilized mainly works such as
narratives to represent something greater than what is actually mentioned. Personification is the

The employing of such device could imply a connection between nature and the aspect of
humanity, In these opening lines, Frost introduces nature as his subject, nearly personifying
nature with the pronoun her (Overview: Nothing Gold Can Stay ). Additionally, this is brought
to attention in a similar article, The nature in the first line may also be human nature, or the
lifetime of a person in comparison to the seasons of the natural world in which that person lives
(UNNES International Conference on ELTLT, Vol 6, Iss 1, Pp 475 480). Just as he makes a
point of saying that nature changes as time progresses, Frost could also be saying that as time
ticks the youth of a person does too, Following the inclusive abstraction of nature is the idea of it
having a first green, suggesting both the green of leaves on trees and other plants or the early
youth of individual (UNNES International Conference on ELTLT, Vol 6, Iss 1, Pp 475 480).
Likewise, this interpretation is repeated in the following statement, That means that what he says
about nature can be broadened to figuratively say something about humanity, people in general or
what happens to the people when they live their lives in the beautiful earth God has created
(UNNES International Conference on ELTLT, Vol 6, Iss 1, Pp 475 480). He makes a reference

Skinner s operant conditioning
Operant conditioning (sometimes referred to as instrumental conditioning) is a method of learning
that occurs through rewards and punishments for behavior. Through operant conditioning, an
association is made between a behavior and a consequence for that behavior.
Behaviorist B.F. Skinner, which is why you may occasionally hear it referred to as Skinnerian
conditioning coined operant conditioning. As a behaviorist, Skinner believed that internal thoughts
and motivations could not be used to explain behavior. Instead, he suggested, we should look only
at the external, observable causes of human behavior.
Skinner used the term operant to refer to any active behavior that operates upon the environment to
generate consequences. In other words, Skinner s theory explained how we acquire the range of
learned behaviors we exhibit each and every day.
Examples of Operant Conditioning
We can find examples of operant conditioning at work all around us. Consider the case of children
completing homework to earn a reward from a parent or teacher, or employees finishing projects to
receive praise or promotions.
In these examples, the promise or possibility of rewards causes an

Analysis Paralysis Essay
Analysis paralysis is a term most Executive Recruiters recognize. It strikes unsuspecting new and
seasoned recruiters alike. When one concentrates on the possibilities of what can go wrong during a

Action is the secret to keeping analysis paralysis from destroying a career. Focus on the end result.
A successful result is when a candidate is hired, starts their new job, and payment is received. God

Power Corruption in Heart of Darkness Essay
In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the author fiercely challenges imperialism. Through this
challenge, he demonstrates the internal battles of good and evil. In his work, he also displays
issues of personal morals and alienation. At the time the novella was written, Europe had
established territories across the map. It holds true that power corrupts and absolute power
corrupts absolutely, especially when said power reigns over the fate of humans in society. Conrad
illustrates the corruption of power through the books motif of darkness and the renegade of Kurtz.

The standard in the Victorian era was the men were far away, while the women were morally
supportive, but oblivious to the reality of the man s work, although they economically benefitted
from it. This proves the way power corrupts because Kurtz abused the opportunities given after
falling from the edge of moral standards, even after his Intended attempts to show him the way. In
1902, when Conrad wrote the book, it was common to base culture off of superiority, therefore it
was seen that Kurtz was in the Congo for the redemption of natives. In the text, Joseph Conrad
gives much respect to the native tribes, Mr. Kurtz, however, has none. Exterminate all brutes!
(Conrad 50) he says, claiming that if he cannot change the natives, they should be thrown out. He,
and many people like him, introduced new cultures to societies that did not want it. The
corruption of the spirituality found in some cultures is thus caused by the hunger for power from
interference from separate societies. Power and happiness go hand in hand. When one abuses
power it reveal their limitations and perhaps inability to maintain power to help the greater good.
One of these may be the differences in laws for those in a position in power and those who are
not, and abuse occurs through moral differences in such society. Everything belonged to him but

Theme Of A Tiger For Malgudi
A Tiger for Malgudi
The Sanyasi in A Tiger for Malgudi upholds the Gandhian values of non violence, love,
understanding and sympathy. The central theme of A Tiger for Malgudi is Gandhian in the sense
that the novel presents the victory of the Gandhian virtues over violence and rudeness. Narayan
presents two sets of contrasting relationships between Raja, the tiger and the Captain at first and
between Raja and the freedom fighter turned Sanyasi later in the novel.
The relation of the captain and the tiger is that of the master and the slave the ruler and the ruled.
This binary relation is mechanical, materialistic, momentary and compulsive; administered and
monitored through cane and fear. These relations are polarized in a way similar to that of the
colonizer and the colonized. But the relationship between the tiger and the Sanyasi is founded on
love, mutual understanding and sympathy; hence it is eternal and enduring. The complete
transformation of Raja, the tiger at the end of the novel suggests the victory of good over evil, of
non violence over violence. Raja, a transformed animal at the end says:

Have you ever had an extraordinary desire for something, only to have someone tell you it is out

large granite facies throughout the area (Grant, Willard). The age of the thrusts and the areas
where they occurred are dated to varying ages with the oldest tectonic action dated 595 million
years ago to the youngest at 265 million years ago (Hatcher, R). The thrust faults in the center of
the Blue Ridge area would appear to have the highest grade of metamorphism while the faults to the

Tension Between The Colonists And The British
Tensions between the colonists and the british
There are many reasons why the british and the colonies had so much tension between them. Three
events that helped build the tensions between the Colonists and the British were, the British and
how controlling they were. The Boston Massacre and how that came around. Last but not least the
war of 1812 were the US finally declared war against Britain. These events all come together to
show the issues between the Colonists and the British. Even though there are a lot more reasons
behind these three were the one that stuck out the most. The british wouldn t let the colonists fight
their own wars and the colonists had to pay for protection for an army that was not wanted. The
colonists were not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Business Structure Of The United States
Throughout the history of the United States, one salient aspect of business is the corporation, as
evidenced by the formation of the first successful English colony, Jamestown, through the Virginia
Joint Stock Company. Early restricted corporations and small businesses built a society and a new
world, while later corporations crippled their employees and communities. Using Clare
International from Richard Power s Gain as a case study, this paper will establish the status quo of
early internal businessstructures and the significance of capitalin community business relationships.
Then, it will explore how incorporation and growth correlates to a loss of community in internal
firm organization and a loss of shared capitalbetween the company and society.
In the late 18th century, production in America came primarily in the form of small business
enterprise. Each business owner had a strong personal connection with the personnel and trade
associated with their business. Owners of the shops had strong control over their hiring process,
and employed individuals known as apprentices to work for them. These apprentices would work
their way up in the trade shop, until finally moving on. Throughout the process, the apprentices and
owners often bonded intimately, with the apprentice keeping all the master s secrets while the
business owner would often ask the apprentice to eat (and sometimes even board) in their own
residence. While not as intimate in the 19th century, the firm still

Schema By Nisbett
To demonstrate the unconscious processes, called schemas , of our minds, Nisbett provides
diagrams and excerpt passages from the experiments that he references such that the audience can
test themselves and realize his truth (18). Right at the start, he presents the words self confident ,
Independent , adventurous , and persistent and follows with a paragraph of a hypothetical
mountain climber (19). The paragraph apparently aligns with the words that were previously
presented, and if words such as reckless or conceited were shown, the climber would align with
those. Nisbett actively demonstrates the reader s own schema and specifically chooses
demonstrations like this to prove how influential these schema can be, enough to form our

Rhetorical Analysis Of Brutus Vs. Wilkes Booth
Argumentative Essay: Brutus v. Wilkes Booth The assassinations of Julius Caesar and Abraham
Lincoln can be compared using the logic of their murders: Marcus Brutus and John Wilkes Booth.
Brutus, a noble Roman and dear friend of Caesar was drawn to the knife by his overwhelming
patriotism, while Booth, an actor and Confederate, was led by God . Both figures write about their
reasoning and manipulate rhetoric to convince the audiences that their acts were just. Their
manipulation of literary devices to persuade the people is compelling, but at the center of each
situation, Brutus and Booth are killers. Marcus Brutus and John Wilkes Booth believe themselves
to be noble men doing what is right for the cause they believe... Show more content on

The men primarily use why and who in their writings. These questions are also the ones ringing in
the ears of the public, who mourn for their deceased heroes. Marcus Brutus and John Booth know
this, and make sure to use the questions they know everyone is wondering about to aid their
arguments. The two men take these questions and flip them on the public to make them question
themselves and the current opinion they have instead of thinking about attacking the speaker
further. To make an individual question the credibility of their own beliefs opens the door for
persuasion, which is what Booth and Brutus are relying on. Using this method to support an
argument is fairly weak, and shows the flaw that exists in murder for the right reasons . The
speakers draw the focus away from themself as an action of

Edgar Wright s Film, Baby Driver
Edgar Wright s musical heist film Baby Driver hit theaters in June 2017 and earned stellar reviews
from critics and general audiences alike for the unique way it synchronized the action unfolding on
the screen with its excellent soundtrack boasting music from multiple decades, here s how they did
it.
Written and directed by Wright, Baby Driver casts The Fault in Our Stars actor Ansel Elgort as
Baby , a supremely skilled getaway driver who depends on a steady stream of music in order to
counteract the effects of tinnitus, or a hum in the drum as the film describes it. He received this
tragedy during a horrid car crash that did away with both of his parents. Now orphaned, he finds
himself on the run after a robbery turned for the worst, while finding a way to protect the people he
loves while evading both cops and accomplices/murders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He acted as Sound Designer, Supervising Sound Editor and Re Recording Mixer. Slater and his
crew produced hundreds of customized sound effects and carefully positioned each one to fit
perfectly with the action on screen. The whole movie is orchestrated to whatever Baby is listening
to at the moment, Slater explains to Digital Trends. Gunfights are in time with the music. Car
chases are cut in sync. Police sirens, barking dogs, speeding trains are at tempo. Much of it is
pitched and syncopated so that the music and sound design work as

Summary Of Cimabue s Virgin And Child Enthroned
Cimabue created Virgin and Child Enthroned in about 1280, while Giotto di Bondone, an Italian
painter and architect, created his Virgin and Child Enthroned between 1305 and 1310 (Stokstad
Cothren, 548, 550). The two paintings have various similarities. However, the most obvious
similarities are that both focus on Mary and the Child Jesus, are long and pentagon shaped, and
include figures of angels and prophets. In addition, both paintings have a sort of Byzantine
influence (Cimabues painting more than Giotto s), including the golden backgrounds and the
hierarchy of the figures ( The Ognissanti ). However, there are many noticeable differences
between the paintings as well. In this discussion post, I will be focusing on three major
differences: the portrayal of Mary; the positioning of Mary and Jesus; and the placement of the
angels and prophets (including where the figures are looking).
Before I begin discussing the specific differences between the two paintings, it is important to
mention that the painting styles of Cimabue and Giotto differed significantly. Cimabue painted
with a more Gothic and Byzantine style. His figures tended to be two dimensional and thus his
paintings looked rather flat. He made his figures very elongated and stylised, which was common
among Gothic and Byzantine artists at the time ( Biography of Giotto ). Giotto, on the other hand,
while being slightly influenced by the Gothic and Byzantine style, largely deviated from the
traditional

Technology And The Rights Of A State Of Emergency
Technology and the rights that are written in the constitution is a privilege that people must not
take advantage of in order for them to keep on having it for their life time. For those people who
step out of that line that is draw and cause issue for others. Then society has every right to protect
its self from those kind of induvial. Such as cause problems like potentially dangerous leaks that
may force other in direct path of harm way or if people miss use them like Tools for
communication, tools for oppression, or causing the Shutdown of communication in free countries.
For the purpose of, Shutting down communication in free countries was one of the things that I
learned in way that I have better understanding why some governments go down that route in order
to protect people from them self and others. For example, the government dose of power to take way
people rights in a state of emergency including the freedom of speech where people can say
whatever they want without causing harm to individuals. However, if a person or people do
beyond want is considered rational and society is in jeopardy of crashing down. The government
can become a ruler or powerfully entity by putting in Marshall Law that basically means place of
residence or country is on lock down and the government is full control that area and peoples
actions. However, technology and communication has brought a new spin on how people take out
their frustrations and talk about in way that is some

Alienance And Alienation In Yolanda s College Life
Yolanda s college life provides an in depth experience of how by resisting the adoption of social
mores and cultural practices of the time, like her parents mandated, resulted in her feeling
alienated. Although Yolanda is Americanized and has been living in America for almost a
decade, she feels out of place as a foreigner in a room full of Americans because she believes she,
...couldn t keep [men] interested. Why I couldn t keep them interested was pretty simple: I
wouldn t sleep with them. By the time I went to college. it was the late sixties, and everyone was
sleeping around as a matter of principle... I felt profoundly out of place. (Alvarez 87). Yolanda
did not go to the lengths other girls went to be attractive and though she could attract the attention
of boys, she did not want to sleep with them. This shows how sexuality is used against her, as a
Dominican Catholic, during this time to determine the difference between acceptance and
alienation of a person. Yolanda s refusal to sleep around as a matter of principle shows how she did
not easily adopt the expected social moresof the time which result in her feeling out of place.
Unable to completely assimilate due to feeling that she is betraying her identity, Yolanda blames
her immigrant origins that do not allow her to understand her peers and conform to their way of
life. Developing her narrative, Yolanda describes her life five years later after leaving the college
environment that pressured her into

Nigeria Democracy Research Paper
The belief is that the only true democracy existed in Ancient Greece in the system of city and state,
where citizens had direct communication with each other and their public officials ran the
government with very little impact and almost no corruption. While this is well known in the
historical aspect, today we see countries that have a very successful government that operate on a
mixture of types of government. However, the ideal democracyis a form an equal government that
everyone should operate on, no matter rich, poor, educated or oblivious you are. Everyone shall
have the right to vote and be allowed to give their opinion on decisions that are made, including
protection under those laws provided by their constitution. There are some similarities in
governments that contribute to a successful democracy such as those of Japan, Sweden, and
Australia, which were discussed previously in the course. In this paper I will discuss Nigeria s
democracy issues, the standard democracies, ideal governments, and how mixing direct democracy
with some of the various governments can ultimately lead to what we all want which is Power to
the People . Nigeria s issues
Nigeria was my country of choice; however, their government is suffering and is in dire need of an
overhaul. Nigeria has a Constitutional Republic and does do some things right. For example,

  • 2. The Making of Coco Chanel Coco Chanel was born on the 19th of August in 1883 in Sammur, France her parents giving her the name Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel. When Coco was around 12 her mother passed away this provoked her father to abandoned her and her 5 siblings, she and her sisters were sent to a convent for abandoned girls and her brothers were sent to work. The time she spent in the convent was a dark time therefor she didn t like to speak of but she reflected in some of her pieces as she used the tones and shapes from walking along the corridor. Once she finally became of age and left the convent she became a seamstress beginning her life into fashion but she also became a cabaret singer where she was given the name Coco. A few years later in 1909 she opened a millinery shop at 160 Boulevard Malesherbes where she designed and sold hats. These hats were simple yet elegant, a change from the heavily decorated hats of the time. During this time she supposedly began her affair with Boy Chapel. He introduced her to the world of wealth, paying for the first shops she opened and greatly influencing her fashion sense. They re affair was on and off but lasted till his death in 1919, the mourning of his death helped influence Chanel No.5. The sorrow she felt from his death inspired her designing. Her fashion was like no other, she used blacks and greys which was only thought of to wear to occasions like funerals but she turned this stereotype around and created the little black dress. Every day activities such as catching the bus, travelling on holiday, playing football, setting up home and starting a family all carry some element of risk. Risk plays a part in our health, safety, security, well being, employment, education, daily activities, using resources and equipment and in community participation. But some adults, for example disabled people or older people, are often discouraged from taking risks. Traditionally they are not encouraged to take risks in areas such as budgeting, planning, employment and daily living skills. This may be either because of their perceived limitations or fear that they or others might be harmed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perceived Normality And Aesthetic Desire Analysis Perceived Normality and Aesthetic Desire A mother sits on the cold metallic examination table of her doctor s office, feet crisscrossed and tightly held together. Her doctor walks into the room, head heavy, and breaks the news; prenatally screening has shown that the mother s future bundle of joy has a genetic disorder, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, CAH. The motherin bewilderment asks what the course of treatment would look like and what exactly CAH is, she seeks a plan, a way to ensure the healthof the child. When an illness is becoming medicalized it can appear to be fueled by three factors; influence of the medical profession, social movements, and directed organizational activity (Conrad, 3 4). Medicalization can be useful in giving knowledge to individuals dealing with an unknown predicament, but sometimes, like the case in CAH, it can be questioned to if a medicalized stance on an illness is necessary. A key example of medicalization of a physical condition that aligns with the genital concerns of CAH would be male impotence. This condition, like ambiguous genitals, does not have a negative impact on the physical health of the individual at all, but a drug, Viagra, has been administered to men anyway (Conrad, 6). The side effects of Viagra range from the minute stuffy nose to very serious concerns such as memory problems and loss of hearing. Despite these risks, men continue to take the medication because of the aesthetic around being able to perform in the bedroom. This can be translated into the prenatal usage of ... • 7. The Vanquished Auguste Rodin Essay Auguste Rodin was born in Paris in on November 12, 1840. He was born into a poor family and his father was a policeman. Although he was a talented artist as a teenager, he lacked encouragement which made him choose a different career. Rodin worked as a bricklayer for 20 years. Then he went to Italy and during his stay he found inspiration there. On his return to Paris, he sculpted his first major piece, The Age of Bronze , originally named The Vanquished . Rodin said that, Much as I love the Greeks, there is one thing I love more and that is nature. (AMA 130). This is very true of his sculptures. Although there is the presence of a body you can see the true nature of emotion through it. School was hard for Rodin because he had a hard time reading, but he took interest in drawing. He started taking art classes when he turned 13. This is when students and teachers gave him no recognition on his art and Rodin started doubting himself. At 17 years old, he applied ... Rodin was inspired so much by these artists that he made his first major piece, The Vanquished . It was made in 1876 and stands at six feet tall, making it a life size sculptureof a nude man. This sculpture showed his attention to such detail that when people came to see this sculpture they did not like how real it looked. People rumored that it was a fake sculpture. In the 1800 s art had to be made for a reason and it had to have a theme. It does not represent most art from that time that had to with mythology. With its lack of purpose critics did not see The Vanquished as real art. All of the criticisms made him change the name to The Age of Bronze . This also led to changing his style from something realistic to more naturalistic abstracted ideas. This is because for the purposes of this study, anything over five times a year is considered a significant amount of times to be ill. In this experiment, the main goal is to find a possible correlation between whether a person makes their bed daily or not and around how many times they are sick in a year. We hypothesize that making one s bed daily promotes good health habits, therefore preventing one from being ill frequently. Due to this, we predict that participants that reportedly make their beds daily will also report fewer instances of being sick per year, with most responses estimated to land around 1 3 times per year. The main independent variable being studied is whether participants make their bed daily, and the dependent variable would be how often they are sick in a year. There are some other independent variables that could impact the relationship, such as gender and age, because they too have an influence on the health of a person. Due to this, we asked participants to report that information as well, so we can take it into account when running data tests and drawing conclusions. Results Our independent variable for this study is whether participants make up their beds every morning. The dependent variable for this study is how many times a year participants get sick. Other independent variables recorded were gender and age. We ran a bivariate correlation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This recession was recorder to be the worst since the 1930 s, for an accumulation of reasons; the largest factor being the American aggression in the Vietnam War . Paul Volcker was a critic on the American dollar and the American s involvement by stating Our failure to face up to the financing of the Vietnam war [was] one key factor in setting up the subsequent inflation . This is a statement that could be used for any recession. Simply by changing the war, and the point in which the quote could be referring to, there is the leading cause to a recession. However, the war would then affect the natural state of the economy. Without the war the government would have used the money elsewhere, would have gone where it needs to go, or would the government find another cause to invest in? • 12. Nursing Nurse And Skills On The Management Of Wound Description During the first week of our new nurses in a surgical ward, I was supervising one of the supernumerary nurses. We were looking after a thirty nine year old woman, Ms LC, who had undergone a laparoscopic peritonectomy. We had to start her on a negative pressure wound therapy dressing or NPWT; as suggested by wound clinical nurse consultant and the doctors during their ward round, since this would allow the fast healing of her wound. I showed the supernumerary nurse the proper way of preparing an NPWT using a non touch sterile technique, started by slowly cleaning the surrounding skin prior to the application of the pressure dressing. Since it was the first time of the preceptee to perform a pressure dressing, I have provided my preceptee the principles of wound management so that it will reinforce the knowledge of the supervised nurse and skills on the management of wound using NPWT. I also provided the preceptee the protocols and the wound management chart to take note of the type of solutions to be used in managing a surgical wound. We also documented in the progress notes what we have performed, and informed the nurse in charge on the frequency of dressing change in a week. • 14. Snow Falling On Cedars Racism Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson is a novel that follows Kabuo Miyamoto, a veteran of the Vietnam War. Throughout the novel, Kabuo and his family must face some of the hardships of the war and it s consequences. War is a recurring theme in this novel that seems to directly influence not only the veterans and their families, but the American society as a whole. Three ways war impacts lives are through the enhancement of racism, separation of family, and trauma. In Snow Falling on Cedars, the San Piedro community had been passively racist towards the Japanese citizens throughout the entirety of the novel. While the community was not overtly racist to the Japanese citizens, they did not stand up for the injustices put upon the Japanese. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, after the draft began and the bombings occurred, the chance of Hatsue and Ishmael carrying out a wholesome relationship went from somewhat likely to almost nonexistent. America had tried to invade Cuba and overthrow Fidel Castro on numerous occasions, the Soviets who were allies with Cuba decided it was time to step in and support their comrades. In October 1962, a two week matter took place, after an American spy plane found 40 nuclear missiles installed by the Soviets, in Cuba, the event later became known as the Cuban Missile Crisis. First off, the U.S planned an attack called the Bay of Pigs, which was one of their tactics to invade Cuba and overthrow Fidel Castro. Their plan was to train exiled Cubans so that they could be sent to Cuba in effort to overthrow Castro. ( The Bay of Pigs ).The installation of missiles were to further prevent any events like this of happening, so it gave the USSR every reason to continue to defend their ally who was being attacked. On top of that, the Soviets did not even retort in aggression, even though it would have been reasonable if they did. Why could they have not placed missiles in Cuba if they decided to not retaliate in violence? Months later, America scheduled Operation Mongoose yet another tactic to kill Castro. They attempted to have Castro removed, overthrown, and out of office in Cuba, but did not succeed ( The Bay of Pigs Invasion and Its Aftermath ). After the second time America tried to overthrow Castro it definitely justified the Soviet storing of missiles. The saying The first time is a mistake, but the second time is a choice, applies to this situation. Cuba being attacked by the Americans the first time was kind of like the mistake in the saying but the second attempt of invasion can be compared to the choice in the saying. The final quote that proves the Soviet missiles were defensive comes from Khrushchev, we were very grieved...that an attack on Cuba was committed, as a result of which many Cubans perished. You yourself told me then that this had been a mistake. I respected that explanation (Khrushchev). • 17. The Waste Of Waste Management Centres As our global population continues on a steady rise so does our product consumption, which naturally leads to an increase in waste production. The vast amount of waste that we are manufacturing ultimately lands up in our oceans, lakes, rivers, alley ways, backyards and parks creating what are known as garbage towns. This would introduce health risks to individuals and the community as a whole. These risks could also include exposure to dangerous chemicals that poses detrimental effects on the environment. To avoid this from happening governments have created landfills. Landfills are a place to dispose of refuse and other wastematerial by burying it and covering it over with soil, especially as a method of filling in or extending usable land. (Webster Dictionary). In an even more extravagant attempt to keep waste material out of the streets and non biodegradable products out of the ground and keeping organic material together governments have added recyclingand composting plants to landfills to make waste management centres. Understanding variable shortening rates in the Himalayan thrust belt of Sikkim and western Bhutan using various thermochronologic data. An NSF proposal written by Sameer Baral Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences University of Houston, Houston, TX, USA Introduction Crustal shortening is the primary result of a continent continent collision in the orogenic thrust belts. Several techniques have been applied to understand the shortening rates in active collisional belts like the Himalayas. These estimates have been derived by Global Positioning System (GPS) for shorter timescales and balanced cross sections for longer time scales (Long et al., 2012). The preliminary studies conducted in the eastern Himalayas using GPS states that modern shortening rates are in the order of ~15 20 mm/yr to 20 12 mm/yr (Bilhan et al., 1997; Larson et al., 1999; Banerjee and Burgmann, 2002; Zhang et al., 2004). Using balanced cross section techniques DeCelles et al., (2002) and Long et al., (2011b) estimated that close to 400 670 km of crustal shortening has been accommodated in eastern thrust belt during 23 25 Ma range, giving the shortening rate of 16 29 mm/yr. Both of these techniques provides shortening rates that are quite similar and shows the motion along basal dГЁcollement have been constant through time (Herman et al., 2010). • 20. The Wounded Warrior Project ( Wwp ) In 2003, John Melia started The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) as a basement operation that donated backpacks full of goods to wounded warriors. Not long after their inception, Melia hired a few employees including future CEO of WWP Steven Nardizzi. Together they began raising millions of dollars and broadening their services for veterans. By 2009 the company had grown to over 50 employees and $ 21 millionin revenue. This was when Nardizzi wanted to get more aggressive with marketing and expansion; which is where Melia and Nardizzi differed. Melia felt he lost control of his organization and in turn resigned. Since Nardizzi took over as CEO, WWP has become one of the largest veteran charities to date, taking in nearly $372 million in donations in 2015. This rapid rise in capital derived from new management, aggressive fundraising styles, and strategic marketing tactics. Many former and current employees, veterans, and donors began to wonder whether the mission of WWP had transitioned from helping veterans to profiting millions and building a brand. Either way the organization was more successful than it had ever been; now they had all the capital they needed to make even more of difference within the wounded warrior committee. In June of 2015 a group of former and current employees led by Erick Millette (a prior speaker for WWP whose opinion was heavily relied on when allegations were expressed) approached CBS News and the New York Timesto ... A wildfirediffers from other fires by its extensive size, the speed at which it can spread out from its original source, its potential to change direction unexpectedly, and its ability to jump gaps such as roads, rivers and fire breaks.[3] Forest fires are characterized in terms of the cause of ignition, their physical properties such as speed of propagation, the combustible ... Ground fires typically burn by smoldering, and can burn slowly for days to months, such as peat fires in Kalimantan and Eastern Sumatra, Indonesia, which resulted from a riceland creation project that unintentionally drained and dried the peat.[29][30] * Crawling or surface fires are fueled by low lying vegetation such as leaf and timber litter, debris, grass, and low lying shrubbery.[31] * Ladder fires consume material between low level vegetation and tree canopies, such as small trees, downed logs, and vines. Kudzu, Old World climbing fern, and other invasive plants that scale trees may also encourage ladder fires.[32] * Crown, canopy, or aerial fires burn suspended material at the canopy level, such as tall trees, vines, and mosses. The ignition of a crown fire, termed crowning, is dependent on the density of the suspended material, canopy height, canopy continuity, and sufficient surface and ladder fires in order to reach the tree crowns.[33] For example, ground clearing fires lit by humans can spread into the Amazon rain forest, damaging ecosystems not particularly suited for heat or arid conditions.[34] Physical properties Forest fires occur when all of the necessary elements of a fire triangle come together in a wooded area: an ignition source is brought into contact with a ... She goes through many tough times and endures life changing experiences that eventually make her the person she is meant to be. In this book Sarah relates India to western perspective several times. India and the United Statesdo have similarities, India and the United States both are run by a Democracy, they both have very strong cast systems; both have their own Hollywood films, and both places have many religions mixed within. India like the United States has a Democracy for their form of Government. India is a free nation with rights given to the people and laws to protect them. Although India s Democracy is not exactly like the United States it is set up very similar. In the book Sarah doesn t talk about India s Government and never runs into any trouble by authorities, although she does mention that India has a Democracy. This means India is a free nation and allows people to have opportunities for individuals to decide which ones they would like to take. Within the Democracy, India like the U.S. has a strongly defined cast system. Since India allows people to live freely, some people are very successful, some get by modestly, and others live in poverty. These three levels make up India s cast system. The issue arises if one team is using one OS platform and the other is using another, even if they are using the same application to write the code there may be differences which could cause problems in future bug fixes. The idea of a standard platform goes beyond the writing suite and extends into all expects of the work. • 28. What Is The Purpose Of Bureaucracy InJust Do What The... In the articles Just Do What the Pilot Tells You by Theodore Dalrymple and Genocidal Killer in the Mirror by Crispin Sartwell, the authors both support the claim that people appeal to authority through bureaucracy and hierarchy. A bureaucracy is a system of government where nearly most of the important decisions are made by state officials, rather than by an elected representative. Sartwell concludes that people included in the bureaucracy fixed the society to do what they wanted him to do and to react to things a certain kind of way, and Dalrymple understands that everyone has to answer to someone. For example, a teacher has to answer to the principle and the principal has to answer to the superintendent. So, like a hierarchy, everyone has to answer to someone. A hierarchy is a system or organization where people or groups are ranked one above the other according to their status or authority. While both provide some clarification of the same process, Sartwell believes that bureaucracies are the greatest evils of society. And while Dalrymple agrees on the topic, he asserts that nearly most of the time we should follow authority in a technologically advanced society. Dalrymple asserts that the interests of patients come from the hierarchy among doctors and that it s their job to take full responsibility for the care of their patients, Sartwell believes that those included in the bureaucracy mobilized a society to do what they wanted and react to things in a certain kind ... It holds true that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, especially when said power reigns over the fate of humans in society. In 1902, when Conrad wrote the book, it was common to base culture off of superiority, therefore it was seen that Kurtz was in the Congo for the redemption of natives. The central theme of A Tiger for Malgudi is Gandhian in the sense that the novel presents the victory of the Gandhian virtues over violence and rudeness. Narayan presents two sets of contrasting relationships between Raja, the tiger and the Captain at first and between Raja and the freedom fighter turned Sanyasi later in the novel. The relation of the captain and the tiger is that of the master and the slave the ruler and the ruled. This binary relation is mechanical, materialistic, momentary and compulsive; administered and monitored through cane and fear. This is noted at the end of the movie where the ghettos in Warsaw were completely destroyed due to the execution of the Jews. Discrimination was a major cultural influence involving the war against the Jews. This shaped society in Warsaw, Poland as the Jewish people were treated badly and even assassinated. The film showed the Jews being thrown out of their homes and killed in the streets. The governments represented in The Pianist were Fascism or absolute dictatorship. This is demonstrated as Germany s Adolf Hitler held power over Poland after Warsaw surrendered from German bombing. In the economy, Jewish people made a living by constructing buildings, becoming soldiers, and preparing food for other Jews. The economic ideology was socialism, which means that the community owns and regulates production and distribution. Social structures on racism have impacted history by making discrimination laws so history, like the execution of the Jews, won t repeat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Theme Of Stealing In The Book Thief After one simply reads the title of Markus Zusak s The Book Thief, one immediately concludes the act of stealing is a very prominent feature in the novel. In fact, the first violation of the law takes place in the very first chapter, when the protagonist Liesel Meminger, steals a grave digger s manual. As the plot progresses, stealing becomes even more frequent. Purely out of hunger, Liesel and her best friend, Rudy, join a band of boys who steal fruit from a nearby orchard. In addition to her hunger for food, Liesel began starving for books, her hunger to read... was as intense as any ten year old human could experience (Zusak pg. 66). The most noble thefts earned Liesel the nickname the book thief. Initially Liesel only steals books the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Blue Ridge Mountains Of North Carolina Vincent Carter 10/4/15 GLY 3311c Homework 2 The Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina is a diverse geological area to study tectonic setting, metamorphic and igneous rocks, and how the tectonic history has affected the development of the minerals in the area. The Blue Ridge Mountains sit within a larger tectonic area that includes part of the smoky mountains and Appalachian mountain chain. The Blue Ridge Mountains sit upon a large thrust plate area that has experienced repeated movement in the orogeny process as the Appalachians were built. This process occurred during the Proterozoic to the Paleozoic period (Tectonic Setting of the Southern Appalachians). Evidence of the faulting includes sedimentary zones at the end of the thrust. Within the thrust areas is high grade metamorphic rocks and some igneous rocks from intrusion during collision events (Hatcher, R). Evidence of the intrusions are the dikes which can be seen and the large granite facies throughout the area (Grant, Willard). The age of the thrusts and the areas where they occurred are dated to varying ages with the oldest tectonic action dated 595 million years ago to the youngest at 265 million years ago (Hatcher, R). The thrust faults in the center of the Blue Ridge area would appear to have the highest grade of metamorphism while the faults to the edge have the lowest grade metamorphism or sedimentary features (Hatcher, Robert, and Arthur Merschat.). this is easily seen because the area where the ... • 44. Business Structure Of The United States Throughout the history of the United States, one salient aspect of business is the corporation, as evidenced by the formation of the first successful English colony, Jamestown, through the Virginia Joint Stock Company. Early restricted corporations and small businesses built a society and a new world, while later corporations crippled their employees and communities. Using Clare International from Richard Power s Gain as a case study, this paper will establish the status quo of early internal businessstructures and the significance of capitalin community business relationships. Then, it will explore how incorporation and growth correlates to a loss of community in internal firm organization and a loss of shared capitalbetween the company and society. In the late 18th century, production in America came primarily in the form of small business enterprise. Each business owner had a strong personal connection with the personnel and trade associated with their business. Owners of the shops had strong control over their hiring process, and employed individuals known as apprentices to work for them. These apprentices would work their way up in the trade shop, until finally moving on. Throughout the process, the apprentices and owners often bonded intimately, with the apprentice keeping all the master s secrets while the business owner would often ask the apprentice to eat (and sometimes even board) in their own residence. While not as intimate in the 19th century, the firm still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Schema By Nisbett To demonstrate the unconscious processes, called schemas , of our minds, Nisbett provides diagrams and excerpt passages from the experiments that he references such that the audience can test themselves and realize his truth (18). Right at the start, he presents the words self confident , Independent , adventurous , and persistent and follows with a paragraph of a hypothetical mountain climber (19). The paragraph apparently aligns with the words that were previously presented, and if words such as reckless or conceited were shown, the climber would align with those. Nisbett actively demonstrates the reader s own schema and specifically chooses demonstrations like this to prove how influential these schema can be, enough to form our ... • 46. Rhetorical Analysis Of Brutus Vs. Wilkes Booth Argumentative Essay: Brutus v. Wilkes Booth The assassinations of Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln can be compared using the logic of their murders: Marcus Brutus and John Wilkes Booth. Brutus, a noble Roman and dear friend of Caesar was drawn to the knife by his overwhelming patriotism, while Booth, an actor and Confederate, was led by God . Both figures write about their reasoning and manipulate rhetoric to convince the audiences that their acts were just. Their manipulation of literary devices to persuade the people is compelling, but at the center of each situation, Brutus and Booth are killers. The men primarily use why and who in their writings. These questions are also the ones ringing in the ears of the public, who mourn for their deceased heroes. Marcus Brutus and John Booth know this, and make sure to use the questions they know everyone is wondering about to aid their arguments. The two men take these questions and flip them on the public to make them question themselves and the current opinion they have instead of thinking about attacking the speaker further. To make an individual question the credibility of their own beliefs opens the door for persuasion, which is what Booth and Brutus are relying on. Using this method to support an argument is fairly weak, and shows the flaw that exists in murder for the right reasons . The speakers draw the focus away from themself as an action of ... Edgar Wright s Film, Baby Driver Edgar Wright s musical heist film Baby Driver hit theaters in June 2017 and earned stellar reviews from critics and general audiences alike for the unique way it synchronized the action unfolding on the screen with its excellent soundtrack boasting music from multiple decades, here s how they did it. Written and directed by Wright, Baby Driver casts The Fault in Our Stars actor Ansel Elgort as Baby , a supremely skilled getaway driver who depends on a steady stream of music in order to counteract the effects of tinnitus, or a hum in the drum as the film describes it. He received this tragedy during a horrid car crash that did away with both of his parents. • 48. Summary Of Cimabue s Virgin And Child Enthroned Cimabue created Virgin and Child Enthroned in about 1280, while Giotto di Bondone, an Italian painter and architect, created his Virgin and Child Enthroned between 1305 and 1310 (Stokstad Cothren, 548, 550). The two paintings have various similarities. However, the most obvious similarities are that both focus on Mary and the Child Jesus, are long and pentagon shaped, and include figures of angels and prophets. In addition, both paintings have a sort of Byzantine influence (Cimabues painting more than Giotto s), including the golden backgrounds and the hierarchy of the figures ( The Ognissanti ). However, there are many noticeable differences between the paintings as well. In this discussion post, I will be focusing on three major differences: the portrayal of Mary; the positioning of Mary and Jesus; and the placement of the angels and prophets (including where the figures are looking). Before I begin discussing the specific differences between the two paintings, it is important to mention that the painting styles of Cimabue and Giotto differed significantly. Cimabue painted with a more Gothic and Byzantine style. His figures tended to be two dimensional and thus his paintings looked rather flat. He made his figures very elongated and stylised, which was common among Gothic and Byzantine artists at the time ( Biography of Giotto ). Giotto, on the other hand, while being slightly influenced by the Gothic and Byzantine style, largely deviated from the traditional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, the government dose of power to take way people rights in a state of emergency including the freedom of speech where people can say whatever they want without causing harm to individuals. However, if a person or people do beyond want is considered rational and society is in jeopardy of crashing down. The government can become a ruler or powerfully entity by putting in Marshall Law that basically means place of residence or country is on lock down and the government is full control that area and peoples actions. Alienance And Alienation In Yolanda s College Life Yolanda s college life provides an in depth experience of how by resisting the adoption of social mores and cultural practices of the time, like her parents mandated, resulted in her feeling alienated. Although Yolanda is Americanized and has been living in America for almost a decade, she feels out of place as a foreigner in a room full of Americans because she believes she, ...couldn t keep [men] interested. Why I couldn t keep them interested was pretty simple: I wouldn t sleep with them. By the time I went to college. it was the late sixties, and everyone was sleeping around as a matter of principle... I felt profoundly out of place. (Alvarez 87). Yolanda did not go to the lengths other girls went to be attractive and though she could attract the attention of boys, she did not want to sleep with them. This shows how sexuality is used against her, as a Dominican Catholic, during this time to determine the difference between acceptance and alienation of a person. Yolanda s refusal to sleep around as a matter of principle shows how she did not easily adopt the expected social moresof the time which result in her feeling out of place. Unable to completely assimilate due to feeling that she is betraying her identity, Yolanda blames her immigrant origins that do not allow her to understand her peers and conform to their way of life. Developing her narrative, Yolanda describes her life five years later after leaving the college environment that pressured her into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Nigeria Democracy Research Paper The belief is that the only true democracy existed in Ancient Greece in the system of city and state, where citizens had direct communication with each other and their public officials ran the government with very little impact and almost no corruption. While this is well known in the historical aspect, today we see countries that have a very successful government that operate on a mixture of types of government. However, the ideal democracyis a form an equal government that everyone should operate on, no matter rich, poor, educated or oblivious you are. Everyone shall have the right to vote and be allowed to give their opinion on decisions that are made, including protection under those laws provided by their constitution. There are some similarities in governments that contribute to a successful democracy such as those of Japan, Sweden, and Australia, which were discussed previously in the course. In this paper I will discuss Nigeria s democracy issues, the standard democracies, ideal governments, and how mixing direct democracy with some of the various governments can ultimately lead to what we all want which is Power to the People .
