Our Time Is Now Analysis
Colton Dixon is perhaps best known as the Mohawk styled Tennessee local who appeared on
American Idol Season 11. His first album A Messenger was the No. 1 selling album by a new
Christian Artist in 2013, and his distinct tones and look have marked him as one of the best up
and coming Christian artists in the genre. Opening with the sounds of an S.O.S. call, Dixon
ushers in an intensity that thrusts the album into a rock infused tale about the purpose of life.
Synth, electro and voice over push for a crossover into Our Time Is Now, and the fast pace of a
rock tune rich in electric guitar and a booming drum will get your heart racing. Saying, Now let
the old die, cause there is new life, forever starts from now, this song, which in essence... Show

Pop infused with Dixon s trademark intensity, I admire the delivery of this song because it goes
beyond what is expected. As a CCM release it ticks all the boxes: the lyrics are truthful, the
melody is catchy, and Christians flock to it. But beyond this, it is a powerful song that escalates
to an anthem that prompts people to step into a moment of worship and true surrender. With a
melody that will stick in your head and innately make you feel good for singing along, this was
an obvious choice for a single. Stepping into Loud And Clear, sharp rock tones are delivered
through the electric guitar, and an authoritative voice similar in style to Evermore s Truth of the
World, clears the space for Dixon to command a compelling song. There is a purity and strength to
Colton s voice, which enables him to deliver this song with authority and conviction. Less capable
singers would quickly become lost in the intensity of the instrumental, but we find Dixon coexists
with this neatly and drives home the message of the

Social Identity Theory Paper
groups therefore prefer acquiescence to disagreement and compromise to conflict (Forsyth, pg.
83). For example, we obliged to do what my captain asks and expect us to follow his orders, we
cannot really complain or disagree since we are supposed to work together as a team. My group
exemplified the social identity theory by working together and giving feedback to each other. In
the textbook, the author wrote about the social identity theory, A theoretical analysis of group
processes and intergroup relations that assumes groups influence their members self concepts and
self esteem, particularly when individuals categorize themselves as group members and identify
with the group (Forsyth, pg. 88). My team works together and we tend to give each other
feedback. So that way we can improve and during the game, we often praise each other for doing a

3. Cohesion, Development and Structure. The group that I am involved in with is very cohesive.
My team is working hard toward a common goal, which is to try our best to win against other
teams and enjoy a volleyball game together. So, I consider that my volleyball team is very
cohesive. My team is a task cohesive, because we are committed to work together and to pursue our
team s goal. Just like what it defined for task cohesion, Commitment to working together as a
coordinated unit in the pursuit of group goals (Forsyth, pg. 144). As time passed, we have gotten a
lot closer and more cohesive. We did pass most of the stages as I am typing up this essay. We have
passed the stage of forming. According to the textbook, the author stated, After the initial
inhibitions subside, group members typically begin exchanging information about themselves and
their goals. To better understand and relate to the group, individual members gather information
about their leaders and members; personality characteristics,

How to Change an Automotive Air-Conditioning Evaporator
How to Change an automotive air conditioning evaporator.
There are four parts to replacing the evaporator. The first part is to prepare the air conditioning
system for removal of the evaporator, the second part is the removal of the evaporator, the third
part is the reinstallation of the evaporator, and the fourth part is the proper testing to verify that the
repair was successful.
First we ll cover the preparation of the a/c system for the removal of the evaporator. The first step
is to identify the type of refrigerant in the system using a refrigerant Id machine. The second step
is to recover the refrigerant from the system using a recovery machine, be sure to use the correct
machine and fittings for the type of refrigerant in the system, usually R 12 or R 134a. The third
step would only apply if the heater hose(s) have to be removed to gain access and that is to drain
the coolant from the radiator into a clean container. The fourth, and final, step is to remove any
covers, braces, brackets, wiring harnesses, or heat shields that would restrict access to the
evaporator.
Now we ll cover the removal of the evaporator. The first step is to remove the liquid line from the
metering device, either thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) or fixed orifice tube (FOT). If there
is an O ring, be sure to remove and discard it. The second step is to remove the suction line from
the evaporator (on systems with a TXV) or accumulator (on systems with an FOT). Again if there
is an O ring, be

Joseph Priestley Dephlogisticated Air
Oxygen is a highly reactive nonmetal element that is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas. It is
the third most abundant element in the universe by mass, makes up 2/3 of the mass of a human
body and about one fifth of Earth s atmosphere (Helmenstine, 2016). The discovery of this
magnificence element can not credited to solely one individual. Both Joseph Priestley and Antoine
Lavoisier should receive credit for proposing new ideology and experimental findings that lead to
the discovery of oxygen. With his experiment using a twelve inch wide glass burning lens in 1774,
Priestley was the second to make the claim about the existence of oxygen and referred to this as
the discovery of dephlogisticated air (American Chemical Society International Historic Chemical
Landmarks). Hence, Priestley should be credited for the discovery of... Show more content on

Priestley concluded, air of red calx of Mercury is the best possible air: it is fully dephlogisticated
air (Lavoisier PowerPoint 1). In modern terms, Priestley thinks he has discovered pure oxygen.
Lavoisier then performed the same experiment and found discrepancies with Priestley s ideology.
He concluded, Air given off by Mercury calx is nothing but ordinary air (Kuhn, 1962). Lavoisier
continued on to complete two other experiments on respiration and the composition of common
air. He concluded that oxygen was a principle of acidity and oxygen was formed only when the
principle was combined with caloric or heat (Levere, 2000). This aspect also places Lavoisier on a
higher scale than Priestley due to incorporating quantitative methods of chemistry. Lavoisier went
on to give the element its Greek name, oxygen, meaning acid generating (Lavoisier PowerPoint 1).
With his correction of Priestley s work and through his continuous experimenting Lavoisier should
be credited for these aspects of the discovery of

The Colonization Of The United States
Throughout the years, the Europeans were claiming territories in countries such as Africa, Asia and
The Americas . The British for example had many colonies in the Americas. One of them were
British Honduras which today s name is Belize. The British occupied the place in the seventieth
century on Spain s territory. Everything happened in 1862, where British Honduras became the
official colony of Great Britain with the Guatemalan Treaty puts thing to an end in an anonymous
note. Today British Honduras that is known as Belizebecame independent and sovereignty, being a
part of the UN and the Caribbean community.

Though the Maya were not allowed to own land, most of the refugees were small farmers who
were growing considerable quantities of crops by the mid 19th century.
One group of Maya led by Marcos Canul attacked a mahogany camp on the Bravo River in 1866.
A detachment of British troops sent to San Pedro was defeated by the Maya later that year. Early
in 1867 British troops marched into areas in which the Maya had settled and destroyed villages in
an attempt to drive them out. The Maya returned and in April 1870 Canul and his men occupied
Corozal. An unsuccessful 1872 attack by the Maya on Orange Walk was the last serious attack on
the British colony.
In the 1880s and 1890s, Mopan and KekchГ Maya fled from forced labor in Guatemala and settled
in several villages in southern British Honduras. Under the policy of indirect rule, a system of
elected alcaldes (mayors) linked these Maya to the colonial administration. However, the
remoteness of their settlements resulted in the Mopan and KekchГ Maya becoming less assimilated
into the colony than the Maya of the north, where a Mestizo culture emerged. By the end of the
19th century, the ethnic pattern that remained largely intact throughout the 20th century was in
place: Protestants largely of African descent, who spoke either English or Creole and lived in
Belize Town; the Roman Catholic Maya and Mestizos who spoke Spanish and lived chiefly in the
north and west; and the Roman

Their sights were firmly set on building a dynasty of three locations and monopolizing pizza
delivery in a small concentrated area. From inception, the Domino s logo contained three dots.
These dots, still present on the current logo, represent Tom Monaghan s original vision of opening
three locations and develop a triangulation delivery strategy (Miranda, 2009).
In the early years of business, pizza was the only item on the menu at Domino s. Side items were
never considered to be a part of the menu. Remaining sensitive to competitors and allowing
competition to affect product pricing is a classic trait of a market follower (Kotler amp; Anderson,
2008). Domino s was eventually forced to add medium and extra large sizes to remain competitive.
Domino s Pizza has chosen a market follower strategy. Product, one of the four Ps of the marketing
mix, is an area where the market leader continues to influence Domino s. Competition forces
changes to the market followers. The first change to the product offering at Domino s happened
almost three decades after they opened. In 1989, Domino s Pizza introduced a deep dish pizza
(Laukens, 2010). While it would stand to reason that the new addition to the menu was an answer
to a competing product, Domino s had entered a market where deep dish was the only acceptable
version of a pizza.
Market research had revealed that Domino s market demographic was culturally

Double Indemnity Film Analysis
The movie Double Indemnity is a film noir style of film directed by Billy Wilder and released in
1944. This paper explores the formal elements displayed in the selected clip as well as the
stylistic choices made by the director. The clip lasts for two and a half minutes and is comprised of
five shots. The sequence takes place amid downtown Los Angeles and centers on the events of an
insurance representative returning to his office at nighttime. The first shot features Mr. Neff, the
protagonist, and a night watchman in a static, medium two shot conversing in an elevator. The two
men are shown in a back view with Mr. Neff positioned to the left side of the frame and the
watchman on the right. Top lightingilluminates the characters upper... Show more content on

The non diegetic music increases in pitch and starts to sound more fantastical. The third shot
shows Mr. Neff entering his darkened office and walking over to his desk in a medium long
shot. The lights are off and only his silhouette is made visible against the backlight of the brightly
lit glass door. The camera pans to the right as he walks to his desk and the venetian blinds leave
striped shadows on him. He switches on a desk lamp which shines a light on the papers on his desk.
A glimpse of his office is made visible by the lamp showing a water cooler, some cabinets, and
his desk. The forth shot cuts on action to a medium shot of Mr. Neff sitting at his desk. He is
centered in the frame and seen catching his breath and wiping sweat off of his face. A full ash
tray is visible in the foreground on his desk. He takes out a pack of cigarettes and lights one up.
The brightly lit match highlights the contrast between him and his surroundings. The camera
pans to the left as he wheels himself in his swivel chair over to his Dictaphone. The desk lamp
shines on him leaving the sides of the frame in darkness and casting a shadow behind him. The
sequence ends with a static, medium close profile shot of Mr. Neff leaning back in his chair and
speaking into his Dictaphone. His brimmed hat casts a shadow onto the upper part of his face.
The non diegetic music fades out and stops as Mr. Neff begins his monologue. The clip ends with

Mass Density Of An Unknown Metal Essay
The goal of this experiment was to determine the mass density of an unknown metal. Five
different vernier capillaries and double pan balances were used to measure the metal. The plan
of action was to find the average density to reduce random error, in addition to, calculating the
standard error to observe the reliability of proposed average. Ideally, the metal would identify
more comparably with gold or aluminum. The concepts of mass density, standard error, average,
one dimensional statistics, precision / accuracy, and test of accuracy were explored. A hollow
cylinder of metal was given to each lab group. Initially, the mass of the metal was determined
with a double pan balance. The metal was placed on the balance and the instrument s notch and
slider was used to interpret the mass. The next step was determining the inner radius, outer radius
and height of the cylinder to find the volume. A vernier caliper was used to measure those
components. The vernier caliper included an inner and outer jaw that measures length. The results
of the double pan balance and vernier caliper was recorded in a data sheet, and the procedure was
repeated five times with different instruments. The data was placed in an excel file where the mass
density, average, standard error, test of accuracy, and general comparison with the two proposed
metals (gold and aluminum) could be analyzed. Table 1 Five Measurements of Unknown Metal.

Examples Of Loyalty In The Penelopiad
Loyalty is a recurring theme in both The Odyssey and The Penelopiad. In the Odyssey, it can be
seen in Penelope s loyalty to Odysseus during his twenty year absence, and Odysseus s disloyalty
during the same period of time. In The Penelopiad, however, Penelope s supposed loyalty comes
into question. Loyalty is also a prevalent topic in other works based on The Odyssey, such as O
Brother Where Art Thou?, The Boarding House, and the painting, Penelope at Her Loom by
Angelica Kauffmann. In The Odyssey, loyalty comes into play mainly with Odysseusand Penelope.
The loyalty of both characters is tested, but their responses to these tests are very different.

The Odyssey shows Penelope staying faithful to her husband while, at the same time, he has
affairs with two different goddesses, for a total of eight years before he is compelled to return
home. Contrary to The Odyssey, The Penelopiad suggests a less perfect, more realistic (and
scandalous) version of the classic story of Penelope. Atwood claims that Penelope didn t, in fact,
remain loyal for all those years. She tells us through the maids that she was sleeping with
Amphinomus. Together with the themes presented in O Brother Where Art Thou? and the
painting by Angelica Kauffmann, The Odyssey, and The Penelopiad explore the topic of loyalty
in many different ways, and in my opinion, never comes to a distinct conclusion about it. In fact,
it brings up more questions than it answers. Questions of gender roles: Penelope stays home,
celibate for twenty years, while Odysseus goes around sleeping with goddesses and comes home,
no questions asked. Questions of human nature: is it really true, probable, or even possible for
Penelope to stay loyal for twenty whole years? These questions are not easily explored or
answered. And though there are no clear answers on the subject of loyalty in these works, the way
in which they explore the topic is intriguing and insightful. They explore loyalty though several
different lenses and allow the reader to come to their own

The Influence Of Social Perception In America
In America, one of the most important characteristics regarding this country would be the way
people perceive our nation s leaders, such as the president. Ideally, it would be beneficial to
American citizens that the nation s leader be perceived in a positive light with accompanying
characteristics such as strong, intelligent, caring, motivated, likeable, experienced, etc. It is evident,
however, that different people hold different views about each individual president. This is because
humans are capable of forming impressions of other individuals without ever meeting them based
on the behaviors, choices, and mannerisms of that other person. In fact, to observe various

Louis Xiv s Influence On Modern Art
Every great work of art has two faces, one toward its own time and one toward the future, toward
eternity. Art in and of itself is a reflection of the ideals and concepts promoted during the time it
was conceived in, and serves as a historical litmus test as to which periods it draws inspiration from;
however, as Daniel Barenboim states in his quote above, impactful art that resonates with the human
spirit lasts beyond its time. Throughout history, art serves as the visual manifestation of the power
and wealth of those who patronize the medium and by extension the period s culture. More
importantly, however, art can serve as a lasting mark and legacy for those who desire to leave a
visual reminder of their strength while they were living.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sun King, nicknamed as such because of his permeating influence throughout France,
attained what was perhaps the most flagrant and impressive demonstration of power and wealth
up to his time through his residence: the Palace of Versailles. At its completion, Versailles was
Louis XIV s call to the world, making its presence felt with the attention to detail and decadence
directed towards all of Europe. The exterior was worked on by French architect Louis Le Vau,
who melded the best of the previous classical Renaissance style with the burgeoning French
Baroque of curved, complex facades with high reaching domes and twisted columns. Under the
direction of interior designer Charles Le Brun, the interior of Versailles defined French Baroque
by its sheer scope and decadence, most notably with the Hall of Mirrors, where he extrapolates
the illusionistic quality found in the Baroque style and enlarges the room through a series of
inset mirrors reflecting the arched windows opposite them. Once populated with gold and silver
chairs upholstered with red brocade and other opulent ornamentation, the Hall of Mirrors was one
of many rooms used to host festivals open to the notable European figures of his time as well as
salons, where hosts provided a platform for leisurely intelligent discussion. Given the unparalleled
extravagance of the palace, it would be overwhelming to a viewer were it not for the vast park
designed by Andre Le Notre, whose careful composition of vistas throughout the formal gardens
provide a rational and beautiful frame to the ornamented palace. The gardens also reinforce the
concept of Louis XIV s power, extending the idea of his governance to even the natural world that
surrounds him. Truly, through the manifestation

President Harry S. Truman s National Prayer Day
First signed in 1952 by President Harry S. Truman, National Prayer Day was recognized and
celebrated on the first Thursday in May.
In honor of this monumental event, residents of Blythe joined in with millions of people around
the country on May 4, to call humbly before God, seeking his guidance for local, state and federal
leaders and current issues.
Asking for God s grace to fall upon this lost world, members of the community opened up the
program with prayer, followed by singing, America The Beautiful.
Being reminded by the lyrics of the song, voices punctuated the line God shed His grace on thee.
With this year s theme inspired by Daniel 9:19, master of ceremony Clifford Short said, For Your

Having every president since 1952 signed a National Day of Prayer proclamation, Donald Trump
followed suit and signed the proclamation during the early morning of May 4.
President George Washington said in 1789, it is the duty of all the Nations to acknowledge the
providence of the Almighty God. He said, If we ever forget the that we are One Nation under God,
then we will be a Nation gone under, Short recited.
Through its purpose of having National Prayer Day, the task force organization seeks to mobilize
prayer in America and to encourage personal repentance and righteousness throughout the world.
With over five pastors in attendance and 20 plus of their church members present, prayer began
around 5:30 p.m.
Turning to 2 Chronicles 7:14, Short read, If my people, which are called by my name, shall
humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear
from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Asking for prayer and repentance on behalf of everyone, Pastor Brandon of The Church of the
Nazarene prayed for the federal government, followed by Pastor Mick Catron of Calvary Chapel of

My Favorite Art Essay
Paul McKelvery Jr HUM 2223 22 Sept 2017 Journal Paper Prompt A: What were your favorite
artworks? Why? Response: My favorite piece of art that s been displayed, or at least talked
about so far, this semester has got to be the little berserker chess pieces from the Germanic
Tribes lecture. While not necessarily a primary piece of art, the small sculptures represent the
tribe of Viking warriors that fought fearlessly. In detail, the depictions of the berserkers show
them wielding swords and shields as if they always stood ready to battle. Then to add to the
appeal, the berserkers in the chess set are biting on their shields as if they were wild animals. I
imagine this group of Vikings looking very intimidating and using the wild and fearless personas
to strike fear into their enemies. Another interesting fact worth mentioning is that the term going
berserk came from the descriptions of this tribe. Being described as bear warriors, the berserkers
were often seen going into these fits of fury while out on the battlefield. Some literature even
states that the bear warriors would be seen foaming at the mouth and, as depicted in the chess
pieces, biting on the rims of their shields. They would attack anything in their path without
discriminating between ally or opposition. After the fit of rage ended, the individual would be
almost catatonic and feeble. Tales proclaim that they would be in this state for a day or two. To
me, nothing symbolizes a true warrior as someone who

Hallucinations In Macbeth
Shakespeare is known for using unnatural or supernatural elements in many of his works to
reinforce his themes. Several apparitions throughout the play affect Macbeth and the evil forces
destroy his morals. The super natural represents Macbeth s internal guilt and struggle. Three
examples of this in Macbethare when Macbeth sees the ghost of Banquo, Macbeth sees a bloody
knife before he kills Duncan and it is pointed toward Macbeth s chambers, and Lady Macbeth sees
hallucinations that her hands are bloodstained. In Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the world of visions,
hallucinations, and ghosts to develop important theme of how power drives people to commit
unnatural actions of destruction and violence. First, Ghosts and the witches lead a very... Show

Macbeth sees a bloody knife before he kills Duncan and it is pointed toward Macbeth s
chambers. This is an example of the supernatural and it pushes Macbeth to commit the violent
murder. He wishes he had never built himself up to kill him. Lady Macbeth encouraged the
murder. Macbeth sees a hallucination of the bloody knife when he says, Is this dagger which I
see before me/ The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch / thee / I have thee not, and yet
I see thee still. / Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible / To feeling as to sight? (2.1.44 49) Macbeth
sees the bloody knife because it reminded him of killing Duncan. Lady Macbeth s blood stains on
her hands is a connection to her role in encouraging Macbeth to use violence to gain power even
though she did not kill the people with her hands. After Macbeth killed Duncan, he was very
scared. He saw the blood on his hands and realized he should not have killed Duncan. He is
regretting that he killed him. As Macbeth waited to kill Duncan he hears one of the servants
laughing and one cried, Murder! and they woke each other up. (2.2.31) One servant cried, God

improvement to lower the costs of operations, therefore the learning curve cost advantages act as a
barrier to entry. The barrier to enter this industry is high.
Threats of substitutes
Live plays, sport events, TV programs (big screen TV, cable, and satellite), the internet, DVD, home

The threats of substitutes are high.

This Is Just To Say is a quick poem by the novelist, and poet William Carlos Williams. Readers
might never believe elderly s saying about how poetry can be about anything and everything until

According to Andrew Spacey, who is an author and analyst, William Carlos Williams
wrote a quick
note to his wife one morning, a passing gesture, and stuck it on the [refrigerator] before heading
off to work (Spacey). Fascinatingly, Williams s eloquence and genuine feelings turned such a

Williams, for sure, likes simplicity and does not like polished things. It is very interesting that
all of his poems can explain each other. For example, Williams explained in Tract that he doesn t
like decorations that are not necessary (while teaching his city people) the flowers or / the lack
of them or what? (Williams). When applying those lines to This Is Just To Say, they will read
something like This is just to say/ punctuations or / the lack of them so what? In Tract, Williams
shows that unless something is a necessity, people should not have it I will teach you / my
townspeople ... over a troop / of [an] artist unless one should ... scour the world /you have the
ground sense / necessary (Tract).
In This Is Just To Say, however, he applies his method by not including any punctuation. Some
people might argue against this claim, but I believe that Williams loved simplicity. Words like
icebox, breakfast, and Forgive, in my opinion, show that he loves being straightforward. Perhaps,
that s why he did not use any begging words to ask for forgiveness. He wants to tell his readers that
he is a human being, temptations can overwhelm him, but he still deserves

Tool Use And Behavior Of Wild And Captive Capuchins
Tool Use and Behavior of Wild and Captive Capuchins
Introduction
The capuchin monkeys are known as one of, if not the most intelligent monkeys of all New
World species. They reside naturally in the forests of southern Mexico, the West Indies, and
Central and South America, but can be found in zoos and captivity around the globe. Capuchins
regularly eat fruits, insects, and nuts, and spend the majority of their day foraging for food.
Capuchins travel and live in groups, residing in the treetops and canopy of the forest; however, the
monkeys will travel along the forest floor as well. They have prehensile tails that are the same
length as their body, have opposable thumbs, and primarily range from light to dark brown with
white facial markings.
Tool Use Among Wild Capuchins While reports of tool use in wild capuchins are moderately
scarce, there is no doubt that tools play an important role in the capuchin lifestyle. The most
common tool used amongst capuchins are stones, which predominantly aid in palm nut cracking
and digging., Palm nuts and other enclosed foods have protective coatings surrounding the
sustenance held inside. To break open and remove the outer shell, they place the palm nut onto a
boulder or large flat stone, called anvils, and bang a smaller stone against the nut until cracking
occurs. The stone has a hammer like effect and is sufficient in cracking open palm nuts. Each of the
capuchins crack palm nuts through various methods of efficiency, and is more

Essay about History of Religion in Communist Cuba
History of Religion in Communist Cuba
Introduction:
The evolution of religion in Cuba, after Castro s insurrection in 1959, has included much
suppression by its proclaimed atheist, communistic government. There are several reasons that
account for why this suppression has occurred, coupled by a recent trend (beginning in the late
1980s) of a religious revival, and more importantly, a growing Christian population within Cuban
society. This growing spirituality can be attributed to many aspects of the Cuban economy and
society. Also, it is important to observe how Castro s negation of religious and human rights was
perceived by Pope John Paul II during his pilgrimage to Cuba in January of 1998. The suppression
which has existed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spiritual Hunger Existing in Modern Day Cuba:
This trend has often been considered a reflection of the economic hardships being suffered
throughout Cuba, and it has even been deemed a spiritual crisis . Disillusioned Cubans are
desperately searching for means of gaining political and civil rights and religion is the driving force
behind this momentum. This new trend is described by author John W. Kennedy when he says,
After nearly four decades of unrealized communist dreams, Cubans are ripe for change. There is a
spiritual hunger in the land, a void that Marxism has been unable to fill. Cubans turn to religion
(and more specifically the Catholic Church) because it is an autonomous institution, outside
Castro s regime that can offer them aid, and solutions for how to better their lives. Cubans calls
for help have been addressed by many Catholic churches. These institutions are now, (after Castro
has subsided some of his suppressive policies) allowed to distribute daily necessities such as
medicine, food, and health care free of cost. This is however, ultimately beneficial for Castro
because it relieves some of the pressure which has been inflicted on the state of Cuba. This growing
necessity for religion that began amidst a long history of suppression realizes its future of
conflicting ideologies with the Communist party of

Between 1958 and 1960, with a series of 23 canvases known as Black Paintings, Frank Stella
cancels out any trace of visual illusionist effects or references, and creates non relational images .
He builds a linear pattern, organizing a structure of parallel stripes. With the phrase What you see
is what you see , he lays out the elements of absolute flatness of his painting, building, by doing so,
a logic rationale to their visual system. It is time for the reasoned geometric rigor of symmetry,
regularity and serial repetition. In his minimalism, Stella eliminates color, he uses black paint and
then metallic gray and copper paint to reduce the idea of illusion. By focusing on unity and the
fabric surface homogeneity the all over he begins to express one of the aspects of the minimalist
movement. These paintings are part of the exhibition Sixteen Americans held in 1959 at MoMA.
Nonetheless, the reductive course that Stella chose takes him to an alternative path: he chooses to
end austerity, by replacing monochromatic stripes with multiple colors and shades that immediately
take the viewer to spatial interpretations. Stella s art does not take into account the limits of the
traditional rectangular canvas , always reminding us that no matter what connotations his paintings

Cultural Heritage In Lucill Clifton s Study The Masters
What is cultural heritage and what is its significance today in our society? Cultural heritage is
what we call the legacy of physical science artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society
that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of
future generations. Sometimes there are moments when we openly decide to ignore our cultural
heritage and focus on the other very worldly objects that surround our society. However, it s
important to note that many writers take time out of their day to write about their own cultural
heritage instead of focusing on other things. The Harlem Renaissance began somewhere in the

Gender Roles In Run Lola Run
The movie that I am going to be writing about is called Run Lola Run directed and written by
Tom Tykwer, released in 1998. This movie is about a girl, Lola, who has to save her boyfriend,
Manni, from the mob by getting 100,000 marks to him in twenty minutes and is about her efforts to
get to him in three separate runs. The topic that I am going to focus on is the representation of
genderin Run Lola Run compared to more typical representations in other movies. The four main
topics that I am going to discuss are the history of gender representation, a look back at how
gender is portrayed in movies in the past, gender in genre and with character, which is looking at
different characters that broke or follow typical gender representation and... Show more content on

As earlier talked about with Disney movies the more current ones released, Brave and Frozen,
focus more on the heroine saving herself rather than waiting to be saved by someone else. This
shift towards more self sufficient and strong women characters is doing wonders as the Disney
princesses are known to young girls worldwide as role models and the addition of some who can
fight for themselves is a welcome change. This quote, The focus on the relationship between Anna
and Elsa, not about finding a man, as a welcome and refreshing development (4) from the Staff at
KPopStars, a movie and entertainment reviewer site, talks about the state of the Disney line up of
movies before these two came out and how the new releases are a welcome change to the formula.
The main focus of the previous movies has not been on how they are growing as people, more
about how they could marry the prince charming at the end of the movie. Not only Disney movies
however have been changing towards better gender representation, more movies have recently been
having female main characters and consequently employing the female gaze for the audience. What
this means is that when the main character of a film is a man the camera employs a male gaze,
which is looking at and focusing on what a man would. As the

Summary OfThe Monkey s Paw, And The House Of The Scorpion
The writer, Erik Pevernagie, once said, When ideas evaporate, when shapes fade and forms lose
their integrity, our imagination can create an outlandish setting and convert everything into a hazy,
misty Turner landscape. ( Back garden of a dream ) .
Many writers often use specific words and details to help bring the reader into the story. By
using these words the writer helps develop a setting, and it brings the reader into, and be able to
experience it as if they were there. In the story, The Monkey s Paw by W.W Jacobs, and the novel
,
The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, the author uses descriptive adjectives to help
develop the setting. To start off, the author uses descriptive adjectives in The Monkey s Paw, to
develop setting in the story. This helps the reader see and feel the setting as if they were really
there. In addition, the quote, Without, the night was cold and wet, but in the small Laburnum
Villa the blinds were drawn and the fire burned brightly, helps to achieve a better setting. The
quote helps to set the stage of the story, while also bringing a warm, and inviting kind of mood.
Saying that the fire burned brightly brings a comforting feeling to the reader like they are with
the character s in the story. To follow that, another example of descriptive adjectives would be, A
cold wind rushed up the staircase, and a long loud wail of disappointment and misery from his
wife gave him the courage to run down to her side, and then to the gate

I Admire The Chocolate Bar
You admire the chocolate bar in your hand, mulling over the years of memories it inspires. You
love everything about this bar, from its infallible solidity to the sleek silver letters spelling out H
E R S H E Y S across its wrapper. In your eyes, a company that creates such wonderful products can
do no wrong. But you might think differently if you knew what went into the making of your
chocolate bar.
As producers of more than half the world s cocoa beans, the Western African countries of Ghana
and the Ivory Coast are in constant need of laborers, often calling on a younger population to
replenish their supply. In fact, more than 1.8 million (or thirty percent of) Sub Saharan African
children under the age of fifteen are laborers, mainly in agricultural fields like cocoa farming.
While this percentage seems shockingly high, the most disturbing truth is that over twelve
thousand of these children many of them as young as eleven are sold to cocoa farm owners as
slaves. Not only are they stolen from their families and stripped of their education and health; they
are also subjected to countless hours of brutal work and physical abuse. What they get in return is
another unit of cocoa beans to harvest, a tedious and dangerous task that can result in grave injury.
Some organizations, such as CBS and Green America, have petitioned to end child slavery in the
cocoa farms. While marginal progress has been made, there remains much to be done. By

1920s Car Industry
Contrary to Wilson s decrepit car garage, the auto repair industry changed rapidly in growth as
well as in jobs during the early twentieth century, while further straddling a wedge within the
social hierarchy as automobiles became more widespread in usage. The automobile industry
became an oligopoly with the formation of the Big Three: Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler
(controlling 70% of the industry), as the rest produced luxury vehicles for the upper class
(Batchelor). Companies such as Ford evolved their vehicles, such as introducing interchangeable
parts, enabling the expansion of tools used by mechanics ( The Auto Mechanic s Trade ).
Combined with the increased usage of mass production techniques, as well as the First World War

Auto mechanics often had a negative perception of all their customers from different social
classes, believing they were all ignorant due to their lack of technological knowledge, and thus
could be exploited for financial gain (Borg, Auto Mechanics: Technology and Expertise ). On the
contrary side vehicle owners often perceived the mechanics to be of low social class and thus
intelligence. For example, Hudson Motor Company had car manuals telling their wealthy
customers to be patient with car mechanics when they were repairing the car, since many are from
lower socioeconomic backgrounds and thus were not as smart as the wealthy car owner (Borg, The
Chauffeur Problem 824). The car owner s perceptions largely drew from the nature of an auto
mechanics work, as Auto mechanics often used their 5 senses to find visual issues with cars,
making the profession heavily reliant on experience (Borg, Auto Mechanics: Technology and

seem naturally unintellectual in their work. In fact, the auto electrical repair mechanics, who relied

How Does Slumdog Millionaire Relate To Sociology
Slumdog Millionaire Excellent movies and school usually do not mix well. But, Slumdog
Millionaire can be an exception. The movie was about a boy named Jamal who is on the show
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, the host gets him arrested for cheating, but Jamal shows them how
he got to every answer. This movie demonstrated all three of the sociological theories in great detail.
Slumdog Millionaire also made out how sociological imagination helps you view this movie. The
movie also determined that culture and concepts of sociology are important to understand it. In the
movie Slumdog Millionaire symbolic interactionism, functionalism, and conflict theory were all
demonstrated very well. Slum dog Millionaire demonstrated the conflict theory the most clearly.

when Jamal got the hundred dollars from the American tourists and he gave it to his blind friend.
Another example of culture would be when the adults were washing their clothes in the river, early
in the film. These patterns are exclusive to that are of the world because they save money buy not

Globalization Is A As A Popular Expression
Globalization is a term that became a popular expression in the 1980 s. Its use describes the
amplified movement of people, knowledge, ideas, goods and money across national borders that
leads to increased interdependence among the world s populations politically, publicly and
culturally. Canadais one of the most globally integrated countries in the world. Our society is
comprised of a highly advanced system of communication and information technology, contains a
government that is dynamic in universal organizations, an economy that is reliant on trade, a
population that travels abroad regularly, and a society composed of individuals from countless

It encompasses the deterioration of the environment through reduction of resources, ecosystems and
the extinction of the environment, which can either positively or negatively, affects certain
Canadian businesses. There is also the suppression of human rights to consider, which entails the
lack of support and working conditions workers may face in any field. Ultimately, it can be argued
that globalization is a force for environmental devastation, exploitation of workers and suppression
of human rights, all of which are negative effects on Canadian businesses.
Exploitation of workers works internationally to negatively affect the credibility and efficiency of
Canadian businesses. Nowadays most Canadians and residents of other developed western
countries are mindful of the existence of sweatshops and labour exploitation in developing
countries such as China, India, and Mexico. We all, including myself, agree that corrupt conditions
and low wages for those workers are unacceptable, but none of us can do anything about it because
globalization allows it to happen. Business is able to have factories in third world countries, such
as Canadian business Joe Fresh, which has factories in India, the Philippines and China.
People working in these factories are given less pay for more work. Their poverty and resulting
economic depression in their respective countries can trigger adverse reactions across the globe,

De Stalinization and the Effects on Ukraine
De Stalinization was the process of political reconstruction that took place in in the Soviet Union
after the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953. This process strived to eliminate institutions established by
Stalin that instilled mental and social suffering across the Ukrainian people. In 1956, when Nikita
Khrushchev was elected the First Secretary of the Soviet Communist Party it began the start of de
Stalinization which undid Stalins reign of terror and characteristics as a leader. The main elements

French And Indian War, Tea Act, And The Boston Tea Party
Did you know the word independence never appears in the Declaration of Independence, rather, it s
titled The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America. ? The American
Revolution ended two centuries of British rule for most of the North American colonies and created
the modern United Statesof America. Many key events including the French and Indian War, the Tea
Act, and the Boston Tea Party all contributed to the independence of America.
To start off, The French and Indian War, also known as the Seven Years War, was a key event in the
American Revolution. The French and Indian War was a conflict between Great Britain and
France. The French and Indian War began in 1754 and ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The
results of the war ended French political and cultural influence in North America. England gained a
large amount of land and strongly grasped its hold on the continent. On the other hand, the war
created tension between the English and the Native Americans. This war created an unpleasant
relationship between England and its colonies. For example, the amount of taxes put into the
colonists hands from war debt. Therefore, the French and Indian War was beneficial to the
American Revolution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Novel 1984 By George Orwell
The novel 1984 by George Orwell exemplifies the issues of a government with overwhelming
control of the people. This government controls the reality of all of their citizens by rewriting the
past, instilling fear, and through manipulation. This is an astounding story because of the realistic
qualities that are present throughout the text about an extreme regulatory governmentand its effects.
This society is overwhelming consumed with the constructed reality that was taught to them by Big
Brother. George Orwellbrings significant aspects to the novel like the complexity of relationships
during a rebellionand The Party s obsession with power. The main character Winston struggles
throughout the story trying to stay human through literature, self expression and his individuality.
The party uses human s tendencies, weaknesses, and strengths in order to dehumanize their citizens
to gain control over them.
Furthermore, in 1984 the main character Winston realizes that their government dictates the history
keeping the citizens uninformed to a life with freedom. The ignorance of the people relinquishes
the citizen s freedom and power to the party. Winston points out that this countenances them to
manipulate the people, who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls
the past (Orwell 360). When The Party is able to control the history they are able to manipulate their
citizens to believing that the government that is being practiced is appropriate

  • 2. Our Time Is Now Analysis Colton Dixon is perhaps best known as the Mohawk styled Tennessee local who appeared on American Idol Season 11. His first album A Messenger was the No. 1 selling album by a new Christian Artist in 2013, and his distinct tones and look have marked him as one of the best up and coming Christian artists in the genre. Opening with the sounds of an S.O.S. call, Dixon ushers in an intensity that thrusts the album into a rock infused tale about the purpose of life. Synth, electro and voice over push for a crossover into Our Time Is Now, and the fast pace of a rock tune rich in electric guitar and a booming drum will get your heart racing. Saying, Now let the old die, cause there is new life, forever starts from now, this song, which in essence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pop infused with Dixon s trademark intensity, I admire the delivery of this song because it goes beyond what is expected. As a CCM release it ticks all the boxes: the lyrics are truthful, the melody is catchy, and Christians flock to it. But beyond this, it is a powerful song that escalates to an anthem that prompts people to step into a moment of worship and true surrender. With a melody that will stick in your head and innately make you feel good for singing along, this was an obvious choice for a single. Stepping into Loud And Clear, sharp rock tones are delivered through the electric guitar, and an authoritative voice similar in style to Evermore s Truth of the World, clears the space for Dixon to command a compelling song. There is a purity and strength to Colton s voice, which enables him to deliver this song with authority and conviction. Less capable singers would quickly become lost in the intensity of the instrumental, but we find Dixon coexists with this neatly and drives home the message of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Identity Theory Paper groups therefore prefer acquiescence to disagreement and compromise to conflict (Forsyth, pg. 83). For example, we obliged to do what my captain asks and expect us to follow his orders, we cannot really complain or disagree since we are supposed to work together as a team. My group exemplified the social identity theory by working together and giving feedback to each other. In the textbook, the author wrote about the social identity theory, A theoretical analysis of group processes and intergroup relations that assumes groups influence their members self concepts and self esteem, particularly when individuals categorize themselves as group members and identify with the group (Forsyth, pg. 88). My team works together and we tend to give each other feedback. So that way we can improve and during the game, we often praise each other for doing a good job with... My team is working hard toward a common goal, which is to try our best to win against other teams and enjoy a volleyball game together. So, I consider that my volleyball team is very cohesive. My team is a task cohesive, because we are committed to work together and to pursue our team s goal. Just like what it defined for task cohesion, Commitment to working together as a coordinated unit in the pursuit of group goals (Forsyth, pg. 144). As time passed, we have gotten a lot closer and more cohesive. We did pass most of the stages as I am typing up this essay. We have passed the stage of forming. According to the textbook, the author stated, After the initial inhibitions subside, group members typically begin exchanging information about themselves and their goals. To better understand and relate to the group, individual members gather information about their leaders and members; personality characteristics, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How to Change an Automotive Air-Conditioning Evaporator How to Change an automotive air conditioning evaporator. There are four parts to replacing the evaporator. The first part is to prepare the air conditioning system for removal of the evaporator, the second part is the removal of the evaporator, the third part is the reinstallation of the evaporator, and the fourth part is the proper testing to verify that the repair was successful. First we ll cover the preparation of the a/c system for the removal of the evaporator. The first step is to identify the type of refrigerant in the system using a refrigerant Id machine. The second step is to recover the refrigerant from the system using a recovery machine, be sure to use the correct machine and fittings for the type of refrigerant in the system, usually R 12 or R 134a. The third step would only apply if the heater hose(s) have to be removed to gain access and that is to drain the coolant from the radiator into a clean container. The fourth, and final, step is to remove any covers, braces, brackets, wiring harnesses, or heat shields that would restrict access to the evaporator. Now we ll cover the removal of the evaporator. The first step is to remove the liquid line from the metering device, either thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) or fixed orifice tube (FOT). If there is an O ring, be sure to remove and discard it. The second step is to remove the suction line from the evaporator (on systems with a TXV) or accumulator (on systems with an FOT). Again if there is an O ring, be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Joseph Priestley Dephlogisticated Air Oxygen is a highly reactive nonmetal element that is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas. It is the third most abundant element in the universe by mass, makes up 2/3 of the mass of a human body and about one fifth of Earth s atmosphere (Helmenstine, 2016). The discovery of this magnificence element can not credited to solely one individual. Both Joseph Priestley and Antoine Lavoisier should receive credit for proposing new ideology and experimental findings that lead to the discovery of oxygen. With his experiment using a twelve inch wide glass burning lens in 1774, Priestley was the second to make the claim about the existence of oxygen and referred to this as the discovery of dephlogisticated air (American Chemical Society International Historic Chemical Landmarks). Hence, Priestley should be credited for the discovery of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Priestley concluded, air of red calx of Mercury is the best possible air: it is fully dephlogisticated air (Lavoisier PowerPoint 1). In modern terms, Priestley thinks he has discovered pure oxygen. Lavoisier then performed the same experiment and found discrepancies with Priestley s ideology. He concluded, Air given off by Mercury calx is nothing but ordinary air (Kuhn, 1962). Lavoisier continued on to complete two other experiments on respiration and the composition of common air. He concluded that oxygen was a principle of acidity and oxygen was formed only when the principle was combined with caloric or heat (Levere, 2000). This aspect also places Lavoisier on a higher scale than Priestley due to incorporating quantitative methods of chemistry. Lavoisier went on to give the element its Greek name, oxygen, meaning acid generating (Lavoisier PowerPoint 1). With his correction of Priestley s work and through his continuous experimenting Lavoisier should be credited for these aspects of the discovery of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though the Maya were not allowed to own land, most of the refugees were small farmers who were growing considerable quantities of crops by the mid 19th century. One group of Maya led by Marcos Canul attacked a mahogany camp on the Bravo River in 1866. A detachment of British troops sent to San Pedro was defeated by the Maya later that year. Early in 1867 British troops marched into areas in which the Maya had settled and destroyed villages in an attempt to drive them out. The Maya returned and in April 1870 Canul and his men occupied Corozal. An unsuccessful 1872 attack by the Maya on Orange Walk was the last serious attack on the British colony. In the 1880s and 1890s, Mopan and KekchГ Maya fled from forced labor in Guatemala and settled in several villages in southern British Honduras. Under the policy of indirect rule, a system of elected alcaldes (mayors) linked these Maya to the colonial administration. However, the remoteness of their settlements resulted in the Mopan and KekchГ Maya becoming less assimilated into the colony than the Maya of the north, where a Mestizo culture emerged. By the end of the 19th century, the ethnic pattern that remained largely intact throughout the 20th century was in place: Protestants largely of African descent, who spoke either English or Creole and lived in Belize Town; the Roman Catholic Maya and Mestizos who spoke Spanish and lived chiefly in the north and west; and the Roman ... Their sights were firmly set on building a dynasty of three locations and monopolizing pizza delivery in a small concentrated area. From inception, the Domino s logo contained three dots. These dots, still present on the current logo, represent Tom Monaghan s original vision of opening three locations and develop a triangulation delivery strategy (Miranda, 2009). In the early years of business, pizza was the only item on the menu at Domino s. Side items were never considered to be a part of the menu. Remaining sensitive to competitors and allowing competition to affect product pricing is a classic trait of a market follower (Kotler amp; Anderson, 2008). Domino s was eventually forced to add medium and extra large sizes to remain competitive. Domino s Pizza has chosen a market follower strategy. Product, one of the four Ps of the marketing mix, is an area where the market leader continues to influence Domino s. Competition forces changes to the market followers. The first change to the product offering at Domino s happened almost three decades after they opened. In 1989, Domino s Pizza introduced a deep dish pizza (Laukens, 2010). While it would stand to reason that the new addition to the menu was an answer to a competing product, Domino s had entered a market where deep dish was the only acceptable version of a pizza. • 10. Double Indemnity Film Analysis The movie Double Indemnity is a film noir style of film directed by Billy Wilder and released in 1944. This paper explores the formal elements displayed in the selected clip as well as the stylistic choices made by the director. The clip lasts for two and a half minutes and is comprised of five shots. The sequence takes place amid downtown Los Angeles and centers on the events of an insurance representative returning to his office at nighttime. The first shot features Mr. Neff, the protagonist, and a night watchman in a static, medium two shot conversing in an elevator. The camera pans to the right as he walks to his desk and the venetian blinds leave striped shadows on him. He switches on a desk lamp which shines a light on the papers on his desk. A glimpse of his office is made visible by the lamp showing a water cooler, some cabinets, and his desk. The forth shot cuts on action to a medium shot of Mr. Neff sitting at his desk. He is centered in the frame and seen catching his breath and wiping sweat off of his face. A full ash tray is visible in the foreground on his desk. He takes out a pack of cigarettes and lights one up. The brightly lit match highlights the contrast between him and his surroundings. The camera pans to the left as he wheels himself in his swivel chair over to his Dictaphone. The desk lamp shines on him leaving the sides of the frame in darkness and casting a shadow behind him. The sequence ends with a static, medium close profile shot of Mr. Neff leaning back in his chair and speaking into his Dictaphone. His brimmed hat casts a shadow onto the upper part of his face. • 12. Mass Density Of An Unknown Metal Essay The goal of this experiment was to determine the mass density of an unknown metal. Five different vernier capillaries and double pan balances were used to measure the metal. The plan of action was to find the average density to reduce random error, in addition to, calculating the standard error to observe the reliability of proposed average. Ideally, the metal would identify more comparably with gold or aluminum. The concepts of mass density, standard error, average, one dimensional statistics, precision / accuracy, and test of accuracy were explored. A hollow cylinder of metal was given to each lab group. Initially, the mass of the metal was determined with a double pan balance. The metal was placed on the balance and the instrument s notch and slider was used to interpret the mass. The next step was determining the inner radius, outer radius and height of the cylinder to find the volume. A vernier caliper was used to measure those components. The vernier caliper included an inner and outer jaw that measures length. The results of the double pan balance and vernier caliper was recorded in a data sheet, and the procedure was repeated five times with different instruments. The data was placed in an excel file where the mass density, average, standard error, test of accuracy, and general comparison with the two proposed metals (gold and aluminum) could be analyzed. In the Odyssey, it can be seen in Penelope s loyalty to Odysseus during his twenty year absence, and Odysseus s disloyalty during the same period of time. In The Penelopiad, however, Penelope s supposed loyalty comes into question. Loyalty is also a prevalent topic in other works based on The Odyssey, such as O Brother Where Art Thou?, The Boarding House, and the painting, Penelope at Her Loom by Angelica Kauffmann. The Odyssey shows Penelope staying faithful to her husband while, at the same time, he has affairs with two different goddesses, for a total of eight years before he is compelled to return home. Contrary to The Odyssey, The Penelopiad suggests a less perfect, more realistic (and scandalous) version of the classic story of Penelope. Atwood claims that Penelope didn t, in fact, remain loyal for all those years. She tells us through the maids that she was sleeping with Amphinomus. Together with the themes presented in O Brother Where Art Thou? and the painting by Angelica Kauffmann, The Odyssey, and The Penelopiad explore the topic of loyalty in many different ways, and in my opinion, never comes to a distinct conclusion about it. In fact, it brings up more questions than it answers. Questions of gender roles: Penelope stays home, celibate for twenty years, while Odysseus goes around sleeping with goddesses and comes home, no questions asked. Questions of human nature: is it really true, probable, or even possible for Penelope to stay loyal for twenty whole years? These questions are not easily explored or answered. And though there are no clear answers on the subject of loyalty in these works, the way in which they explore the topic is intriguing and insightful. They explore loyalty though several different lenses and allow the reader to come to their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Art in and of itself is a reflection of the ideals and concepts promoted during the time it was conceived in, and serves as a historical litmus test as to which periods it draws inspiration from; however, as Daniel Barenboim states in his quote above, impactful art that resonates with the human spirit lasts beyond its time. Throughout history, art serves as the visual manifestation of the power and wealth of those who patronize the medium and by extension the period s culture. More importantly, however, art can serve as a lasting mark and legacy for those who desire to leave a visual reminder of their strength while they were living.... The Sun King, nicknamed as such because of his permeating influence throughout France, attained what was perhaps the most flagrant and impressive demonstration of power and wealth up to his time through his residence: the Palace of Versailles. At its completion, Versailles was Louis XIV s call to the world, making its presence felt with the attention to detail and decadence directed towards all of Europe. The exterior was worked on by French architect Louis Le Vau, who melded the best of the previous classical Renaissance style with the burgeoning French Baroque of curved, complex facades with high reaching domes and twisted columns. Under the direction of interior designer Charles Le Brun, the interior of Versailles defined French Baroque by its sheer scope and decadence, most notably with the Hall of Mirrors, where he extrapolates the illusionistic quality found in the Baroque style and enlarges the room through a series of inset mirrors reflecting the arched windows opposite them. Once populated with gold and silver chairs upholstered with red brocade and other opulent ornamentation, the Hall of Mirrors was one of many rooms used to host festivals open to the notable European figures of his time as well as salons, where hosts provided a platform for leisurely intelligent discussion. Given the unparalleled extravagance of the palace, it would be overwhelming to a viewer were it not for the vast park designed by Andre Le Notre, whose careful composition of vistas throughout the formal gardens provide a rational and beautiful frame to the ornamented palace. The gardens also reinforce the concept of Louis XIV s power, extending the idea of his governance to even the natural world that surrounds him. Truly, through the manifestation ... • 23. My Favorite Art Essay Paul McKelvery Jr HUM 2223 22 Sept 2017 Journal Paper Prompt A: What were your favorite artworks? Why? Response: My favorite piece of art that s been displayed, or at least talked about so far, this semester has got to be the little berserker chess pieces from the Germanic Tribes lecture. While not necessarily a primary piece of art, the small sculptures represent the tribe of Viking warriors that fought fearlessly. In detail, the depictions of the berserkers show them wielding swords and shields as if they always stood ready to battle. Then to add to the appeal, the berserkers in the chess set are biting on their shields as if they were wild animals. I imagine this group of Vikings looking very intimidating and using the wild and fearless personas to strike fear into their enemies. Another interesting fact worth mentioning is that the term going berserk came from the descriptions of this tribe. Being described as bear warriors, the berserkers were often seen going into these fits of fury while out on the battlefield. Some literature even states that the bear warriors would be seen foaming at the mouth and, as depicted in the chess pieces, biting on the rims of their shields. They would attack anything in their path without discriminating between ally or opposition. After the fit of rage ended, the individual would be almost catatonic and feeble. Tales proclaim that they would be in this state for a day or two. To me, nothing symbolizes a true warrior as someone who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are several reasons that account for why this suppression has occurred, coupled by a recent trend (beginning in the late 1980s) of a religious revival, and more importantly, a growing Christian population within Cuban society. This growing spirituality can be attributed to many aspects of the Cuban economy and society. It is equipped with a three dimensional energy that goes beyond the limits of the canvas and spreads itself onto real space. His creations invite us in to interact. He is one of the pioneers of Minimalism, with his famous black paintings (1958 60) ,for which he received early and overnight recognition and acclaim . Those Black Paintings consisted of, basically , stripes of black house paint laid out in stark repetitive, patterns separated by thin lines of unpainted canvas .(Fig 1) In the evolution of its production, he becomes a pictorial reference to exuberance, through his layering buildup and works that are full of curves, twists and contortions. Between 1958 and 1960, with a series of 23 canvases known as Black Paintings, Frank Stella cancels out any trace of visual illusionist effects or references, and creates non relational images . He builds a linear pattern, organizing a structure of parallel stripes. With the phrase What you see is what you see , he lays out the elements of absolute flatness of his painting, building, by doing so, a logic rationale to their visual system. It is time for the reasoned geometric rigor of symmetry, regularity and serial repetition. In his minimalism, Stella eliminates color, he uses black paint and then metallic gray and copper paint to reduce the idea of illusion. By focusing on unity and the fabric surface homogeneity the all over he begins to express one of the aspects of the minimalist movement. These paintings are part of the exhibition Sixteen Americans held in 1959 at MoMA. Nonetheless, the reductive course that Stella chose takes him to an alternative path: he chooses to end austerity, by replacing monochromatic stripes with multiple colors and shades that immediately take the viewer to spatial interpretations. Cultural heritage is what we call the legacy of physical science artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of future generations. Sometimes there are moments when we openly decide to ignore our cultural heritage and focus on the other very worldly objects that surround our society. However, it s important to note that many writers take time out of their day to write about their own cultural heritage instead of focusing on other things. The Lincoln Electric Company Organizational Culture The continued influence of founder James Lincoln s values and belief system is visible throughout every aspect of the organizational culture at the Lincoln Electric Company. Although James Lincoln believed that businesses should follow Christian morality, he did not impose religion on any of the employees. Instead, his beliefs are reflected in the company s policy of always placing the customer first, and its view that this practice is not only morally correct, but also beneficial to the company s economic success which has been proven true. James Lincoln also introduced the use of an Advisory Board, consisting of employees elected by peers, which meets with the CEO twice a month to discuss company operations and provide input on ways to make the company more successful, often by focusing on improving employee experiences. Through suggestions to management, this Advisory Board has been responsible for helping to implement the many policies and programs that have lead to the Lincoln Electric Company s remarkable and steady success since 1935. Summary OfThe Monkey s Paw, And The House Of The Scorpion The writer, Erik Pevernagie, once said, When ideas evaporate, when shapes fade and forms lose their integrity, our imagination can create an outlandish setting and convert everything into a hazy, misty Turner landscape. ( Back garden of a dream ) . Many writers often use specific words and details to help bring the reader into the story. By using these words the writer helps develop a setting, and it brings the reader into, and be able to experience it as if they were there. In the story, The Monkey s Paw by W.W Jacobs, and the novel , The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, the author uses descriptive adjectives to help develop the setting. To start off, the author uses descriptive adjectives in The Monkey s Paw, to develop setting in the story. This helps the reader see and feel the setting as if they were really there. In addition, the quote, Without, the night was cold and wet, but in the small Laburnum Villa the blinds were drawn and the fire burned brightly, helps to achieve a better setting. The quote helps to set the stage of the story, while also bringing a warm, and inviting kind of mood. Saying that the fire burned brightly brings a comforting feeling to the reader like they are with the character s in the story. In fact, more than 1.8 million (or thirty percent of) Sub Saharan African children under the age of fifteen are laborers, mainly in agricultural fields like cocoa farming.
