The document discusses heart attacks, defining them as a sudden failure of the heart caused by an obstruction of a coronary artery cutting off blood supply. It notes that heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the US, killing around 1,500 people daily, and lists common causes like diet, genetics, smoking, stress, and lack of exercise. The symptoms of a heart attack are described as severe chest pain radiating to the left shoulder and arm.
Heart attacks are one of the leading causes of death in America. With most of us suffering from various kinds of health conditions and adding a lot of extra stress to the heart through our lack of activity and poor eating habits, it is no wonder that many of us are just ticking time bombs before we are able to experience a heart attack ourselves.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Heart Attacks
Heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the United States.
Everyday approximately 1,500 people die from heart attacks. Thousands more suffer crippling effects of some form, and remain disabled for the rest
of their lives. A simple definition of a heart attack is a sudden failure of the heart resulting from an occlusion or obstruction of a coronary artery.
Basically, this means the heart is no longer receiving the blood supply it needs to function properly. A person having a heart attack experiences severe
pain in the chest extending to the left shoulder and arm. Heart attacks occur for a variety of reasons. Diet, genetics, obesity, and lack of exercise are all
contributors to heart attacks. Smoking and...show more content...
This results in a heart attack.
Stress is another cause of heart attacks. The causes of stress vary from person to person, although there are many stressors. Anger, fear, deadlines, work,
conflict, and school can all be stressors. When an individual perceives a situation to be stressful, it is stressful. The body physically reacts to stress by
activating the flight or fight response. In other words, the body physically prepares to run or fight. Hormones called adrenaline and noradrenaline are
released into the blood stream. These hormones cause the metabolism, heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and muscle tension to increase. In today's
world, stress very seldom calls for an actual flight or fight response, but the body does not know the difference. Therefore, the physical release of all
the energy built up in the body does not actually take place. This causes hypertension, otherwise known as high blood pressure.
Secondly, hypertension creates strain on the arteries and contributes to the build–up of plaque in the arteries. Plaque is a sticky substance that sticks to
the artery walls. Too much build up in the arteries causes them to close up, therefore not allowing blood to reach the heart. Finally, the heart collapses,
and a heart attack has transpired.
Smoking and stress are two major causes of heart attacks. However, avoiding heart attacks is actually quite simple. The American Medical

breast cancer is most threatening to them, it is a fact that they are eight times more likely to die of a heart attack. Coronary Artery Disease which often
leads to a heart attack is by far the leading cause of death of both men and women.
WHAT IS A HEART ATTACK?
Other Names for a heart attack include the name Myocardial Infarction, Coronary Thrombosis and Coronary Occlusion. A Heart attack occurs when

Even lowering resistance to certain type of viruses. Stress does not only cause detoriation to heart but to your gums as well making you less immune
from common colds to cancer. People who are stressed are very much more likely to pick up habits like smoking, over eating, and are even less likely
to exercise.
The exposure to extreme cold may play another important role in why heart attacks happened. It has been confirmed that people who have suffered
heart attacks have suffered it during the winter months. The reason why the extreme cold may increase a chance of some one getting a heart attack
would be due to over exertion. Meaning for example people who don't exercise at all in their lifestyle going out in the cold to shovel away snow. As
well may affect the heart by increasing its heart rate as well as raising the blood pressure. With the in–activity of a person who does no type of
exercising activity at all in combination with the cold may cause a very high risk factor I causing that individual to catch a heart attack. RISK

4. Heart Attack Narrative
The average woman has a first heart attack at seventy years of age. Then again, my mother is not average. Given the medical history of my family, this
should not have been a surprise. At fifteen years old, I had to rush my mother to a hospital two hours away, with her life in the hands of time and
myself. Throughout the summer of 2015, my mother had undergone a great deal of stress, anxiety, abuse, and depression, which second handedly
affected me. To ease our minds, my mother, afamily friend Maddie, and I took a trip to Arkansas to visit my sisters. The weekend had been wonderful,
but my mother was experiencing a new kind of pain. Having my learners permit, driving home from Little Rock would be great practice, and it would
give my mother some time to rest. About an hour into the journey home, my mother felt the symptoms of a heart attack. I rushed to the nearest
small–town while looking for a hospital or emergency clinic, but there was nothing within seventy–five miles. At a nearby convenience store, my
mother bought some aspirin to ease the pain and hopefully prevent death. The pressure I felt was strengthening, but Maddie was my steady hand; she
reassured me that everything was going to be okay, and we would quickly make it to a hospital. Soon my mother felt...show more content...
I was concerned about the road ahead and what kind of treatment my mother would need to recover and prevent this from happening again, but
knowing that she made it to medical professionals alive helped me believe that she was going to be okay. Today, my mother still struggles with high
blood pressure and occasional chest pains. I wake up everyday terrified of what could happen to her if her stress reaches an unbearable level, but this
makes me much more thankful for all of my days spent with my mother. I am still learning to seize every moment in the presence of loved ones and
appreciate all the memories that can be carried with me

"The heart" The Heart is a very important organ in the body. It is what keeps your blood flowing and your organs going. It is a tireless muscle that
pumps more than two thousand gallons of blood every day. The blood that is pumped is filled with nutrition and oxygen (Colombo 7). It travels
through out your body in less than sixty seconds. So it needs to be taken extra good care of. When abuse is put on the body, theheart's performance is
not at its best. The Heart is a major organ that needs loving and care. Everyone has only one and by abusing it, they are cutting their live span little by
little. People can live their lives freely but how they choose to live them could be the difference between life and death.

This is why patients who are in comas or vegetable states live because although they may have no nerve function, their heart beats on. The heart is
what keeps all living breathing species alive, animals or humans. If the heart was to shut down but the nervous system continued and was active, it
would not matter. The entire body would shut down because once the supplier no longer delivers what is needed; organs will no longer function
correctly, therefore causing irreversible damage. Arteries are what carried the rich oxygenated blood from the heart to the rest of the organs throughout
the body. The Veins are what bring back the carbon dioxide blood to the heart. It then has to be put through a cycle so that it can be shipped back out.
Blood travels from the right atrium through the tricuspid valve, to the right ventricle. From there, it is pumped to the lungs, the oxygen–rich blood
goes to the left atrium and then through the mitral valve to the left ventricle where it goes to the aorta to be pumped around the body (Colombo 7).
What looks to be a complicated process that would take hours or minutes is actually done in a matter a seconds. As the population ages heart failure is
expected to increase exceptionally. About twenty–two percent of men and forty–four percent of women will develop heart failure within six years of
having a heart attack. "Thirty years ago patients would have died from their heart attacks!" (Couzens)

Uncle Jake and Aunt Leah were playing golf last week. On the sixth hole, Jake told Leah that he was having unusual pain in his left arm and chest.
All of a sudden he felt weak and complained that his shirt was much too tight. A dentist playing one hole behind them examined Jake and found he
was short of breath, pale, and sweating. He called 911 on his cell phone and told Jake to lie down and wait for the ambulance. The paramedics rushed
Jake to the hospital where he was evaluated by a cardiologist. The tests showed that he had four clogged arteries. He was scheduled for surgery the
next day.

2. Using your knowledge of the pathway of blood, explain the flow of blood through the heart. Oxygen poor blood fills the right atrium from either the
superior or inferior vena cava.
Then, that blood passes through the tricuspid valve and to the right ventricle.
The right ventricle fills up пѓ tricuspid valve closes пѓ right ventricle contracts пѓ pulmonary valve opens пѓ the blood flows into the pulmonary
artery пѓ pulmonary valve closes пѓ pulmonary artery splits into two vessels each going to the lungs.
The oxygen rich blood returns from the lungs and it goes through the pulmonary vein to the left atrium.
When the left atrium is filled with blood, the heart contracts and the blood passes through the bicuspid valve and into the left ventricle.
When the left ventricle is full, the bicuspid valve closes and the aortic valve opens. This allows the blood into the aorta and once the blood passes the
aortic valve closes. Finally, the blood then has access through the rest of the body by systematic capillaries пѓ veins пѓ back to the right atrium.
*Both sides of the heart are doing this at the same exact time and contracting/relaxing is what pumps the blood from one place to the other.
What would cause his weakness and shortness of breath? The cause of his weakness and shortness of breath would be because not enough oxygen rich
blood is coming back into the heart.
