Thesis Of Cinderella
Cinderella, by the Brothers Grimm, described the life of a maiden named Cinderella. Born to a
loving family, Cinderella s life had drastically changed when her ailing mother had perished
from her disease. After the death of Cinderella s mother, her father had married another woman,
who had two daughters. Unfortunately, Cinderella s step mother and step sisters were cruel to
Cinderella, forcing her to wear rags and perform chores. Instead of voicing the abuse, Cinderella
submissively endured the appalling treatment and had her value reduced to a servant. As years
progressed, the king organized an extravagant ball for three days, designed to attract the prince to
the maidens in the ball. Even though Cinderella desperately wanted to attend the ball, because of
the cruelty of her step sisters, Cinderella remained meek and was warned she would be severely
punished if she didn t sort the lentils. Rather than performing the task and arguing for her freedom,
Cinderella wept and was helped by the pigeons. As the ball continued, the step sisters were
discontent with the completion of their tasks, so they resumed to mistreat Cinderella by requesting
her to complete further preposterous tasks. However, the pigeons would resume assisting
Cinderella, even advising her to shake the tree on her mother s grave for the appropriate attire to
attend the ball. Thanks to the pigeons and the tree, Cinderella attended the ball and established
herself as the candidate of the prince s affection,

Optimism In Voltaire s Candide
FACT: What I found extremely fascinating in Voltaire s work is the idea that It is demonstrable
that things cannot be otherwise than as they are; for all being created for an end, all is
necessarily for the best end (83). This quote by the character Pangloss is one of extreme
optimism. He believes that they are living in the best world possible and everything that
happens is meant to be. This really resonates with me because I do have the belief that God has
an influence over our lives, so with that being said anything that happens good or bad God had a
reason for. The concept of faith is what plays a key role in this belief; we must have faith in God
and what path he paves for us whether we understand it or not. Sometimes he gives us obstacles
to overcome to make us stronger, while other times he may bring good fortune. It may be hard at
times to understand why God does what he does, but we must be able to take a step back and have
faith in God s plan.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pangloss states from the beginning that we live in the best of all possible worlds (81). Which is
seemingly the furthest thing from perfect as we continue to read. Everything that happens to
Candide after being banished from the castle is a series of events that would most likely lead
someone to believe that the world is a terrible place. Misfortune seems to follow Candide and his
optimistic view of the world. He wanders for a time to the point of starvation when he is found by
a group of men who bring him back to health, but only to place him into the hands of the Bulgar
military where he is to face even more tragedy. Even through all the abuse and torture he still
maintains this naГЇve outlook that life is the way it s supposed to be. Why would being beaten and
abused be what was meant to be in this best of all possible

The Scientific Method Essay
The Scientific Method is the standardized procedure that scientists are supposed to follow when
conducting experiments, in order to try to construct a reliable, consistent, and non arbitrary
representation of our surroundings. To follow the Scientific Method is to stick very tightly to a
order of experimentation. First, the scientist must observe the phenomenon of interest. Next, the
scientist must propose a hypothesis, or idea in which the experiments will be based around. Then,
through repeated experimentation, the hypothesis can either be proven false or become a theory. If
the hypothesis is proven to be false, the scientist must reformulate his or her ideas and come up with
another hypothesis, and the experimentation begins again. This... Show more content on

Furthermore, flies were observed laying eggs where the maggots formed. Thus, he concluded that
maggots are the result of flies, not spontaneous generation. He then called the principles behind his
experiment Metodo Scientifico or The Scientific Method.
The first cases of what would be considered properly using the Scientific Method can be found
earlier, though, back in the studies of Galileo, early in the 17th century. He first observed that
heavy objects gain speed as they fall. He then proposed, or hypothesized, that the rate of falling of
massive objects was proportional to the distance that the object has fallen. Following the Scientific
Method, he tested his hypothesis and found it to be false, since objects falling unequal distances
do not fall in the same amount of time, as his hypothesis led to. Since his hypothesis failed, he
made a new one, which proposed that the rate at which an object falls is directly proportional to the
time the object has spent falling. This was tested by rolling balls down an inclined plane and
calculating the speed and time values from those observations. Later, these experiments led to the
discovery of the gravitational constant g, and a better understanding of the Scientific Method.
The Method has been used many times since Galileo conducted his experiments, and it has been
considered a valid way of conducting experiments since

Rods And Cones Interpretation
The article titled Rods Cones is very interesting explaining to the the reader what happens in our
eyes. In the human retina there are two types of photoreceptors, rods and cones. The rods and
cones have different purposes. The rods are responsible for vision at low light, which is called
scotopic vision. The cones are active for light at higher levels, called photopic vision. The cones
are capable of color vision and are responsible for high spatial acuity. The rods on the other hand
do not mediate color vision, and have a low spatial acuity. There are 3 different types of cones
short wavelength, middle wavelength and long wavelength sensitive cones. The article explains
that turtles, fish, frogs and we humans all have different shapes and sizes of receptors across and
within a species. Figure 1. presents a schematic diagram of the rods and cones. In this figure, one

Positive reinforcement has nothing to do, whether the behavior is good or bad. It is rather the
consequence of presenting something pleasant, such as a reward, money or sex. On the other
hand, negative reinforcement is the removal of something unpleasant. Both positive and
negative reinforcement strengthens our behavior. In order for our vision to occur, we need to
receive and process what we see out in the natural world. The simulation example, stated that
light is going to the eyes or sound wave traveling to the ear. In order for us to react to what we
observe, we need to use the rods and cones based on the different situations we face on a daily
basis. Use an example of someone in a dark room. The eye would naturally use the rods in your
eye to obtain what the environment is like around you. On the other hand, if you were at the beach
or a light room you would use the cones in your eyes for the high light

Impact Of The Imperial Rule On West African Politics Essay
Senegal History Despite its small size, Senegal is an important player in West African politics. It
has had a long history, from its days as a collection of tribal kingdoms, to its existence under
French rule and eventual decolonization, to its place today as a model of peaceful democracy ( it
is one of the few African states that has managed to avoid military or political coups since its
independence in 1960 (Anderson, 2013)). Senegal has retained much of its traditional African
values as well as adapted to traditional European ideals (Gellar, 1995). France and other European
countries have had a profound effect on the social, political and economic structures Senegal has in
place today. By analyzing the previous structures developed by the Africans and then comparing
them to the placed upon them by the French, one can truly begin to understand the extent of the
transformation that has occurred. Before the imperial rule in the Senegambia area, governing
methods were largely focused upon a single dominant power ruling over various villages, towns,
and social groups that were incorporated into the dominant political unit (Gellar, 1995). The
excessive land space to population ratio at the time meant that controlling vast amounts of land did
not determine a kingdom s power, it was instead based upon the amount of people under their rule.
Because there was little competition for territory, a ruling government did not have permanent
borders (Gellar, 1995). This is unlike

face a horrible reality; Mina is on the verge of turning into a vampire. As soon as Van Helsing
began to speak, Jonathan was already fearing this. The love of his life was turned into an evil
creature that he hated. Both the audience and Jonathan Harker knew that once Van Helsing

Southern China Research Paper
Southern China is a very different and diverse from America, but why? In this essay I will tell you
how and why the Climate and religion affect food choices and popular foods and table manners.
In Southern China the weather is very humid with up to 75 inches of rain per year. This moist
weather affects the food their by giving the land very fertile soil, witch is perfect for growing
crops. Because of the warm climate the food there can get spoiled very quickly, as a result the
people in south China preserve their vegetables and crops giving the region its sour taste. The
climate in this region is subtropical, which means warm climate almost all year round and basically
no change in seasons. Because of the constant climate, farmers and crop ... Show more content on

Fried rice is a dish in China that can be fried with sauces ( brown rice) or plain (white). Jiaozi is a
classic Chinese dish that is commonly called dumplings and can be steamed, fried, or baked.
Shallow fried Jiaozi is a different type of dumplings that is fried in a pan with oil. Some commonly
used spices is sage and Turmeric root, and a common vegetable is Bok Choy.
And lastly China is known very nice and specific table manners and family rules. In China, a
circle table is better for a family so that the family can see each other better.. The guest of honor
is always seated to the right of the host. Guests are seated after the host s invitation, and it is rude
to seat guests at the place where the dishes are served. At a Chinese dinner, there is large plates of
food that is passed coming counterclockwise, and starts at the host. Once everyone is served the
table may start to eat.
So, after I did all my research I concludes that China is a interesting country with many different
customs than America. Such as, manly only eating plants due to religion. Preserving their foods
because of the hot, humid climate. And always using the scraps of an animal in any way they

The Steam Engine
As of the present, technology advances exponentially as compared to three hundred years ago.
Consequently, the question asked is how this rapid method of advancement in technology and
science came about. It definitely did commence slowly. Most of the protracted infringement to
scientific and technological progress was due to theological beliefs and political incompetents. It
was only after the Protestant Reformation that significant progress was finally attained; it still
progressed slowly. Many individuals would conclude that the defining moments were when Isaac
Newton and Gottfried Leibniz made important contributions to the field of mathematics through
discoveries in Calculus. Although this played significant roles in the scientific... Show more content

This new ability drastically changed everything. Classical economical ideals came to the fore
when the prices of raw materials such as cotton went down and productivity went up. According
to Spielvogel, the amount of cotton imported into Britain in 1760 was two and a half million
pounds but by 1787, the rate had increased approximately nine fold, and by 1840, one hundred
and fifty fold. This machine enhanced the free trade ideals of laissez faire economics, made the
factory as an institution, created the idea of worker unions, led child labor laws, and the ideology
of Marxism. The creation of a better means of transportation other than the horse was now available.
In 1804, a British mining engineer, Richard Trevithick (1771 1833), built the first steam powered
locomotive that hauled seventy individuals and ten tons of ore at five miles per hour. Improving
on Trevithick s machine, George Stevenson built a better locomotive, known as the rocket , that
could move six cars of coal and twenty one passenger coaches at faster speed in 1830. In addition,
steam powered ships would gradually replace sail ships. To elaborate further on the steam engine
effects, the epitome of its social impact can be seen during the Industrial Revolution. People of this

Jonathan Swift s Use of Satire and Exaggeration Satire is a form of literature in which an author
tries to demonstrate his or her point of view by ridiculing. The author uses heavy irony and sarcasm
in order to criticize a social issue. A perfect example of a work of satireis Jonathan Swift s A
Modest Proposal. In this satirical essay, Jonathan Swift attacks on the issue of the Irish poverty in
the 1700s. The essay sarcastically suggests that Ireland s social and economic problems would be
quickly solved by putting the children of impoverished Irish families on the food market. Through
heavy exaggeration, Jonathan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example is when he states that a child just born will weigh twelve pounds, and in a solar
year, if tolerably nursed, will increase to twenty eight pounds (804). By giving infants a set of
instructions and guidelines, in analogy to livestock, Swift tries to make it seem as if he has no
emotional attachment to the Irish children. When Swift is describing the use of children as
commodities, it is ironic because his intentions are to actually explain that the English view the
whole Irish population as commodities. The English landlords are the ones responsible for
Ireland s poverty. The essay shows, through sarcasm, that the English have purposely took
everything from the Irish because they view them as commodities. One example of sarcasm used
to portray that idea is that the utilization of infants will be proper for landlords, who, as they have
already devoured most of the parents, seem to have the best title to the children (804). It is very
apparent that Swift blames the English for Ireland s problems. He also blames the Irish Catholics
that allowed English policy to break down Ireland. The essay illustrates that the greed filled English
have taken away everything from the Irish. This includes their material things such as their money,

Illness like meningitis are more serious and needs more attention. As a teacher or learning
support assistant, you will most time work closely with individual children. You will notice
when the child is not well, or may be incubating an illness. This can take place over a period of
days, weeks or months. Some of the signs you will notice are looking pale, had dark rings
around eyes, appears more tied, has lost their appetite, the child being quiet and looks flushed. It
is very important that you recognize the signs and symptoms. It is not your role to diagnose the
sickness. It is also not your duty to jump to conclusions. If a child display any of the signs and
symptoms of common illness the school will inform the child s parents so that they can take the

The Swastika In The Complete Maus
In the scene Vladek and Anja s first view of a swastika from window of a train from The
Complete Maus ,Art Speigelman uses several literary devices to deliver the story and emphasise it
s importance. Some examples of the literary devices he uses includes intensity of shading, dialogue
written and symbolism of objects.
This scene begins with Vladek continuing to narrate from the previous scene, where Anja had a
breakdown after giving birth to Richieu, and decided to go to a sanitarium in Czechoslovakia. They
were passing by a small town, when someone noticed the swastika. Vladek mentions that ..every

There is relatively dark shading in the third panel, creating a gloomy mood in the train carriage.
The biggest symbol in this scene however, is the swastika. The swastika is a symbol for the german
Nazis, as well as war. To the Jewshowever, the swastika is a symbol of fear, suppression and
extermination. In the scene, the third panel uses the swastika as a sign of the German Nazis,
while it is used in repetition when the stories of what was happening to the Jews as a
background. The background is pitch black, with a white circle and the swastika inside. The use
of repetition is to emphasise the demeaning of the Jews, and also functions like a growing moon,
that is dawning over the Jews, but is dominant everywhere. However, the swastika originally has
vertical and horizontal lines, as a symbol of peace, before it was tilted slightly to be used as a
flag for the german Nazis. There is an irony that in the third panel, the flag is folded to look like
the original swastika, perhaps suggesting that there is peace in the town because there aren t any

Examples Of Ethical Issues In News
Ethical issues are situations which have positive and negative effects. TV news programmes try to
be as objective, fair and accurate when presenting their stories to the public but what does it
actually mean. Objectivity means not being bias, judgemental or prejudice when presenting the
news. Fairness means that the information is free from discrimination while accuracy means the
facts are true and free from error. In other words, the news stories that reporters make should not
have personal opinions towards an issue. This is so that the news stories, that are shown to the
public, are neutral and unbiased. The New Zealand television industry have three main news
programmes. One news, owned by TVNZ, which is owned by the government. Three news, owned
by media works, which is owned by the government and prime news, owned by sky television,...

which side they believe is right and and which side is wrong. This opinion should not be used by
reporters when representing the news. the right side is ethical while the wrong side is said to be
unethical. Ethics has everything to from feeling, to beliefs and behaviour. Objectivity, fairness and
accuracy are issues in news reporting because the feelings, beliefs and behavior of the reporter
should not convey the issues that they are reporting. This means that their news story should not
lean to one side of the argument, or the other. This would lead to the story being opinionated and
biased. The story should be neutral and using a language that does not convey the reporters
opinions to the topic. Reporters can do this by not characterising people in ways good and

The Ancient Egyptian History And Culture
The history of Ancient Egypt is one of the most highly admired and studied cultures of all the
past world civilizations. The fascination of the sphinx and the questioning of the pyramids have
typically led archeologists to devote their time and efforts into unraveling the mysteries and
figuring out the ways of the Egyptian culture. However, some may argue that the alluring aspect
of the Ancient Egyptian history and culture is mummification. Some people bury their dead in
the ground so that their soul can carry on to heaven while their body turns to dust. Others chose
to burn the body and reduce it to ashes that are either kept in memorial or are dispersed. The
Egyptians, on the other hand, believed in a different way of life after death and the burial of the
body. They desired to preserve the remains as a basic element for survival after death, as well as
the journey into the afterlife. With such exotic funerary process, the Egyptians created a view as
being a morbid, death obsessed society. Mummification played a major role in Ancient Egyptian s
religious belief of life after death, but the process of this unique burial and display of the corpse
differed depending on the time period the ritual was performed. EVOLUTION To the Egyptians, the
preservation of the body was a fundamental asset to the continuation of life after death. The process
of mummification evolved over many decades, becoming more of a dominate ritual in their ancient
culture. The beginning of

Tax Credits Are Better Than Deductions
Tax Credits Tax credits are better than deductions because they reduce your taxes dollar for
dollar. For example, federal and state governments offer many credits for research and
development, reducing energy usage, creating jobs and accommodating people with disabilities.
We ll explore the topic further in the Special Business Deductions. In bad years, especially when
you start a business and claim extra deductions, you might lower your taxes enough to qualify for
the Earned Income Tax Credit that lowers taxes for low to moderate income families. The
Lifetime Learning Credit is worth 20% of up to $10,000 that you spend for post secondary
education and training. The credit can take up to $2,000 off your taxes for fees spent on college
courses, training classes and earning certifications. The American Opportunity Tax Credit returns
the first $2,000 that you spend on college expenses for each dependent and 25% of the next $2,000
for a maximum credit of $2,500 per student. Special Business Deductions The federal government
and many state governments offer various tax credits, incentives and larger Section 179 deductions
for increasing energy efficiency, accommodating people with disabilities, removing architectural
and transportation barriers to mobility challenged people and encouraging entrepreneurs to
revitalize certain enterprise zones in some urban cities and areas where natural disasters have

Similarities Between Canada And The United States
The neighboring countries of the United States of America and Canada are similar and different in
many ways, but they also have their differences. For instance Canada has designated sports for
certain seasons when the U.S. has designated time frames for their sports, which span multiple
seasons, but both countries play some of the same sports. The national anthems are very different,
but also similar in the fact that they both declare the peoples love for their country. The flags may
have different designs, but they both strongly represent their country. When you think about it,
Canadaand the U.S. have a lot more in common then you would think. To start, both Canada and
the U.S. love their sports. In Canada the designated summer sport is lacrosse, a very sophisticated
sport, which in the U.S is only played by snobby rich people at country clubs. The... Show more

There were many flags before it and each time a new state was adopted into the US, we got a
new one. The flag has 50 white stars on a blue rectangle up in the top left corner, which represent
the 50 states. These stars are accompanied by 13 red and white alternating horizontal stripes

1965 when a design was submited to the Candian government. They had been looking for a new
flag for a while and finally found one. It has two red stripes on the ends and a white square with a
maple leaf on topof it. In conclusion, the US and Canada have their differences, but they are also
more similar than people would think. They play some of the same sports, but also some different

In the 1950 s global expansion was probably not something that Kamprad was thinking about

While these gaffes are entertaining they can also be quite costly and damaging to a product s

I found out the performance from the enterprise quartet s website.Which is a university based

Memorandum To:Mr. Thomas Stearns, Project Manager, International Guidance and Controls

_____________________________________________________________________ I have
recently received and reviewed your memorandum regarding your issue with the Confined Aquatic
Recovery Vehicle project. I have considered three options and their ability to save your company as
much money as possible while completing this project in a timely manner. The three alternatives I

Lastly, option number three (Attachment 2), to wait five months and continue with software
developments and then reevaluate the progress of the situation, resulted in the lowest EMV of
$3.29 million. For the third alternative, I have made sure to consider your estimates of the
favorable and unfavorable progress possibilities that could affect the situation in five months. For
each of the calculated EMV s, I assumed that two months was the maximum amount of extra time
needed if the software developments were not completed on time. As you stated in your memo, one
or two months extra would suffice for the developments but there is always a chance that two
months will not be enough time in which case the EMV would go up. I also assumed that your
probabilities would prove to be accurate. Variations in the probabilities would also cause the EMV
to change. Reputation Analysis: The EMV calculations previously discussed did not take into
account the intangible cost of a damaged reputation in the event that the project is not completed on
time. The costs cannot be certain because they have no concrete value but I have done my best to
estimate the impact of a damaged reputation based on the EMV calculations stated above
(Attachment 3). Continuing with your current software developments is immediately ruled out
because the costs continue to go up and are the highest of the three

Archaea were originally classified as bacteria and were named archaebacteria since most of the
archaea are not isolated in the lab, and also archaea and bacteria are roughly the same size and

human beings are not really individuals, they are communities of organisms. ( McFall Ngai,

Modern City And City Of Ancient China
In 2008, my whole family has moved to Hangzhou, the capital and largest city of Zhejiang Province,

Hangzhou keeps its rich historical elements, also developments with modernization construction.
Back to my home description, my family moved to an apartment, named Yinma Apartment, located

Architecture, the buildings follow famous architect Louis Sullivan s concept, form follows function

Also, by the way of repeating the same design in four buildings, a strong sense of community is

Meanwhile, the construction represents Prairie Style. Under the spirit of Frank Lloyd Wright, the
architects expressed ideas that linked nature and common space, for example, large area of garden,
landscape lobbies, boulevards, open floors with plants. While, the interior of my home was

Darkness At The End Of The Tunnel
Grotesque, sinister, overwhelmingly personal or simply the wailings of an afflicted soul? Sylvia
Plath an American poet, novelist and short story writer in her life wrecked with trials and
tribulations had experienced both sides of the coin. Even fifty two years after her doomful demise,
she is celebrated for her immense contributions to English literature. At the same time, her writing
style has been at the gunpoint of critical analysis ever since. Regarded as a significant pioneer of
confessional poetry, she is credited to have popularized and enforced this notion by emerging as
one of the first creative writers to have shed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The motifs, themes and symbols illustrated in her literary works portray disquieting
remembrances, emotional turbulence, a stark sense of remoteness and an unheard voice to
combat oppressions. Her autobiographical novel, the Bell Jar pertinently encompasses the
protagonist s arduous journey as a delusional woman against the patriarchal society, symbolic of
Plath s solitude and self mutilation. I felt very still and empty, the way the eye of a tornado must
feel, moving dully along in the middle of the surrounding hullabaloo. Her poem Daddy
illustrated the mixed emotions she had towards her father, depicting an arch sentiment of
betrayal. She used Jews and Nazis as metaphors for their shattered relationship. In the German
tongue, in the Polish town, scraped flat by the roller of wars, wars, wars. But the name of the
town is common. My Polack friend. Drawing from holocaust imagery again, Lady Lazarus is
figurative of brutality, signifying Plath s suicidal attempts. Emphasizing on her body parts as
separate from the whole; she pricked at the male dominant society s outlook for women as mere
objects. This piece of literature throws light at Plath s yearning and obsession on the subject of
death as she considered it to be an art. Dying is an art, like everything else. I do it exceptionally
well. While Plath viewed death as the hostile ultimatum and a coercing ending along with
perceiving this natural phenomenon in the literal sense, Emily Dickinson, another established
American poet known for gothic elements and dark imagery reflective of her seclusion from the
society by choice, examined death as an idealistic magnetism with a pinch of mysticism. For
Dickinson, death presented a two dimensional standpoint. It is what humans fear as well as long
for their entire life. In certain aspects, it may be symbolic of isolation, while in others it may

The Politics Of The Global Essay
INTRODUCTION
The Politics of the Global gives us a narration of how development of international political
economy happens and an understanding of globalization. Globalization is frequently analyzed
independently and the author shows how globalization plays out in two multi cultural democracies;
India and USA. It portrays different political possibilities like colonial coercion, post colonial
ambivalence and post colonial co option that are opened by global relays of meanings, identities
and power from historically different locations. Globalization also explores a variety of spaces and
strategies for resisting the colonization of the global. The author identifies bureaucratic delays and
red tape that happens in government of India as the same of a business man who uses technology to
improve productivity and is professional in his approach. It focuses on reconstructing the state s
economy and its government using the SMART simple, moral, accountable, responsive and
transparent governance argument. He characterizes globalization into three narratives; the
rationalist, historical materialist and the constructivist approaches. Each narrative consists of many
theories some of them disagreeing with each other but at the end of the day, each narrative is united
through shared models of understanding and explanation that seeks to go beyond the international
to access the global (Muppidi, 2004, p.3).

The Impact of Immigration Policies on Communities and the Future of West Michigan I m 50%

familiar at all? These types of phrases were one of the first things to befuddle my perception of
my new found West Michigan friends when our family first moved up to Grand Rapids from a
small town in Texas in 2008. It perpetually amazed me as to how so many people had so many
different percents and a few even impressed me more so by knowing them to decimal place. Many
shared their heritage with a swelling pride, and I soon came to learn that this source of pride
actually came from West Michigan s history built upon immigrants which can be traced back all the
way to the 18th century. From the huge mass of Dutch immigrants that brought us tulips to the
Germans that brought us one of our favorite foods, hot dogs, immigration has had a significant
impact in creating our West Michigan culture and industrializing our economy (Nickmanes). With
immigration policies today, people from a diverse pool of nationalities such as Hispanic, Asian,
Arabic, European and many others continue come to West Michigan and call it home. These
immigrants today help develop our community and our economy, in ways that are sometimes

Winston s personal utopia was most likely the bedroom he and Julia rented from Mr.
Charrington. Like in Snow Crash, Winston s desperation with reality lead him to create his own
utopia where he could get a glimpse of freedom and happiness. The dystopia in 1984 is
everything else outside of the bedroom in Mr. Charrigtons shop. The Book of Eli does not have
a utopia throughout the movie. The closest the movie comes to revealing a utopia is towards the
end when the Bible begins to go through the printing press and when Solara goes back to her

not break the idea that a utopia cannot exist without a dystopia because it does not have a utopia.
In the Hunger Games the utopia is the Capitol, and the dystopia is the Districts. The people of the

Evaluate the Relevance and Adequacy of the Balanced Score...
Question
(a)Evaluate the relevance and adequacy of the Balanced Score Card as an instrument for
perfomance management.
Introduction
The Balanced Scorecard is a strategic performance management framework that has been designed
to help an organisation monitor its performance and manage the execution of its strategy. Kaplan
and Norton (1996a, 1996b) pointed out that the implementation of the Balance Score Card is to
attain the following goals clarify and translate vision and strategy, communicate and link objectives
and measures, plan, set targets, and align strategic initiatives; and enhance strategic feedback and

David Norton 1992).With The Balance score card managers the organization is able to cover
customer objectives such as customer satisfaction, market share goals as well as product and
service attributes.
Internal Business Processes
Internal processes that lead to high financial goals for example quality and product reliability, speed
in fulfilling customer needs and also speed in response to customer complaints and these elements
will have an impact on the service to customers. According to Arifinfo June 2, 2011, the internal
processes include improving the quality and reliability products lowering the number of products
that fail, increase speed of service developing innovation process and develop production capacity
hence performance management is enhanced. Again organizations can cover internal operational
goals and outlines the key processes necessary to deliver the customer objectives.
Learning and Growth
The Balance Scorecard is relevant and its adequacy lies on that it gives the organization the ability
of employees, technology tools and effects of change to support organizational goals. A learning
and growth metric (or employee metric) is a framework for quantitatively assessing employee
satisfaction, productivity, and retention in the framework of the balanced scorecard (BSC).A metric

they are symbols of the great civilizations of the past which constructed them. Achievements which
have stood the test of time, despite the fact they have been stripped of their former glory.
First of all let s consider the older of the two, the Parthenon. The Parthenon stands on the top of the
Acropolis, a rocky outcrop in the center of Athens, Greece. Work began on the temple complex
shortly after the war with Persia ended, from 447 to 432 BCE. The funds to finance the building
of this grand monument came from the surplus of the war treasury of the Delian League, an
alliance of city states created for the sake of defence against the Persians. The Acropolis had
suffered greatly in the war when the Persians invaded Athens in 480 BCE, looting and destroying
the temples. Yet the building of the Parthenon was more than just a restoration of lost temples, it
was a statement, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The largest dome ever made when constructed, it is still considered the largest unreinforced
concrete structure of its kind. The dome of the Pantheon is what makes this building so unique.
The rotunda measures 43.3 meters in diameter, which is the exact height from the floor to the
oculus, open skylight, which means it is a perfect hemisphere. A 43.3 meter diameter sphere would
fit perfectly under the dome. The dome is made of pumice mixed with concrete, a process which
was lost with the fall of the Roman Empire and only now starting to be understood. The thickness
of the dome tapers from 6.4 meters at the base to 1.2 meters around the oculus. The weight of the
dome was reduced by forming five rings of 28 coffers, recessed panels, into the interior

I Put A Spell On You Analysis
If the stage cannot be richer than the cinema, let it be poor
Jerzy Grotowski believed in the supreme power of an actor s performance above all else and that
great theatre does not need extravagant sets, costumes, props or gimmicks and that in fact the actor
s voice and body skills should be primary spectacle on stage .
The 12 dramatic elements are a set of concepts designed to help an actor deliver a believable
performance. All 12 elements when used cohesively, is guaranteed to help an actor become the
primary spectacle on stage.
Focus, space and sound are important elements that were showcased in Que Sera, Sera and I Put A
Spell On You .
In Que Sera, Sera , sound worked as a means of contrast, authenticity and character development.
Within the performance contrast using sound played an important part. In the opening scene, as
each character introduced themselves to the audience by checking in for their appointment,
characters clearly differentiated from the other, with a loud and over excitable character to a
character who barely spoke and when she did, was barely a whisper. The sound and tone of voice
used for each character helped develop each character separately and made clear that there was
diversity and contrast among the characters. Que Sera, Sera used minimal stage props and minimal
artifical sound, and instead the actors focused on using their own voices to not only read dialogue
but create natural sound within the scenes. Using voice to make Onomatopoeic sounds to create
realism whilst exaggerating the fact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Is Football A Dangerous Sport For High School Sports
Is Football a Dangerous Sport for High School Students
In the three sources we ve read about whether football is too dangerous for high school students to
play in high school, I disagree with its being too dangerous. If playing football is too dangerous in
high school, then it should be dangerous for the N.F.L playersto play too. They are more aggressive
and train harder than the high school players. It can cause lots of concussion. Or even worse injuries
than concussions. Additionally, the injuries to high school students are greater than in the
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) football players. If there are concerns with
high school football players getting too many concussions, then they should have them train
differently. There are ways to reduce the number and severity of football injuries through
targeted intervention. Because we observed high levels of ankle and knee injuries, we
recommend increased conditioning by ankles and knee rule changes aimed at protecting these
vulnerable body sites. (Source 1) What Christy Collins, MA, research associate in CIPR at
Children s Hospital and co author of the study says about increasing conditioning with ankles and
knees is a good example of what they should do with the high school football players. Increase the
time and add on to exercises that would help teach the high school players how to be more careful
or not at getting concussions. By training more can deduce a number of injuries high school players

Shafer Library Research Paper
The Shafer Library and Its Many Flaws
The Shafer library is an obviously rather old building that has trouble even keeping up with all
the commodities offered by even my dorm as far as studying is concerned for example, I have a
very good computer and laptop that easily outpaces the horribly outdated tech provided by our
cramped little library. Some people might stress the importance of keeping some things the same
holding onto their quaint traditions with outstanding vigour, but sometimes things just need a
good old fashion overhaul and that s something Shafer is in dire need of. Prime examples of this
are readily evident even in your first trounce through Shafer, the beige walls give a horribly
dreary feeling to all who inhabit its creativity stifling abode, lined with paintings of old men
nobody cares about, book stands that are rarely filled, and you can tell by the lack of life in all
parts of this extremely modest library that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. Gorman calls the library the great intellectual and cultural center of the academic community.
Librarians sometimes call the library a third place, a reference to a theme in Ray Oldenburg s book
The Great Good Place. Mr. Oldenburg, a professor emeritus of sociology at the University of
West Florida, lamented in his book that good public places are disappearing in America. Society,
he says, desperately needs third places places that are neither home (the first place) nor work (the
second), but spaces that allow people from different parts of a community to come together and
engage one another ( Thoughtful Design 2). This is something that has immeasurable value, giving
something that monetary value could never begin to compare. The third place maybe
romanticizing it a little but, regardless it rings true the library is an ideal place for these social

Essay on Moral Argument for Existence of God
All moral arguments for the existence of God work on the principle that we all have a shared
sense of morality. Despite cultural differences, broadly speaking, humans worldwide have a vague
idea of what is right and what is wrong; a moral argument for the existence of God would say that
this mutual understanding is proof of Gods existence. Immanuel Kant put forward this argument
(although, not a moral argument); God as the source of objective morality. Firstly, he addressed the
categorical imperative; our own sense of duty, and that being moral was case of following this
principle, for example, paying your debts. He said that it was our duty to promote the highest good
(summum bonum), however virtue and happiness are independent of one... Show more content on

Kant s other assumption is that everybody s aim is achieve summum bonum, but it would be
wrong to assume that everybody has the same goals in life. We can summarise Kant s argument
into three different stages, firstly; morality demands us to aim for the highest good, secondly; we
cannot attain this unless there is a God to assist us, and lastly; God must exist to ensure that we
achieve that which we are duty bound to do. If you were to share Kant s assumptions, it would
become necessary to assume that there is a God.
Although Kant s argument is indeed notable, there are a number of criticisms. Firstly, it does not
prove the God of classical theism, for if summum bonum can be achieved by humans, then it means
that not only God can, and he is not omnipotent. Secondly, Kant makes the enormous assumption
that virtue must be rewarded by happiness, but gives nothing to back up why this has to be the case.
It is like saying that salt and vinegar must go together on chips, but as they can t in this life, there
must be an afterlife where this can happen, such an assumption seems absurd. Another weakness, as
previously mentioned above, is that it seems wrong to assume that everyone feels that the same
sense of duty to strive for summum bonum.
HP Owen and Cardinal Newman put forward another moral argument, morality as derived from
God (via conscience and objective laws or rules). For

The Victorian Period Essay
The Victorian Period
In the introduction to The Victorian Age in The Norton Anthology of English Literature, Stephen
Greenblatt gives a historic overview of the nineteenth century was known as the Victorian period in
the historical development of Great Britain. This era began with the reign of Queen Victoria from
1837 to 1901. The Victorian erais associated with Britain s great age of industrial expansion and
economic progress. Prior to the Industrial Revolution, Great Britain was mainly a rural society, with
its economy based on agricultural production. With the revolution, society gradually transformed
into a largely urban one with manufacturing being transferred from farms and villages to giant

The Oxford English Dictionary, hereby referred to as OED, defines patriarchy as [a] form of
social organization in which the father or oldest male is the head of the family, and descent and
relationship are reckoned through the male line; government or rule by a man or men (OED
2016a). Patriarchal society stated that women had no physical, social, economic or political
power. Women in patriarchal society were forbidden from the same privileges that men had.
Therefore, women were attributed feminine duties of caring for the home and pursuing the outlets
of feminine creativity. Because women were refused the opportunity to work or take part in the
domestic sphere, they spent their youth preparing for marriage. Maureen Moran in Victorian
Literature and Culture, describes how women relocate their place in society in the political,
economic and social aspects. The changes in women s social role occurred as the important
members, they had opened up for professions which were not accessible before. They assumed
skilled jobs in society as writers, journalists, nurses, and teachers (2006, p.

Comparing Dulce Et Decorum Est And Futility
Living through inhospitable experiences conveys the lingering mental deterioration of an individual
s humanity. Wilfred Owen conveys such notions in his poems Dulce et Decorum est and Futility ,
which detail his own perspective upon the Great War by underlining the emotional and physical
exhaustion caused to the soldiers. Dulce et decorum estfocuses on the grotesque horrors of war, as
well the ever declining human nature. Futility however details the uselessness of war and questions
the pointless meaning of life. Through the use of metaphors, and other poetic techniques, both the
poems have conveyed the antiwar themes and as a result, dictates a thorough insight of the
consequences of war.
Owen s 1917 Dulce et decorum est provides insight by a result of personal experience, the physical
distress of a marine through distinct poetic techniques which represents the horrendous ideals of
war through chronicled events. The sight of soldiers coughing like hags portrays the physical
deterioration of the soldiers, whilst comparing the men to old and ugly women caused by the

Business Case
The Galleria project is expected to generate about $10 million over the first two years, and the
project is expected to break even in five years. The projected annual revenue from the restaurant
and gaming is $1 million in year 1 and will grow to $35 million in year 10. Another $4 million
expected annually from other sources. Because this is a new business, the initial investment can
be $18 million or higher. If the estimates are a bit high, it may take a bit longer. It could take up
to seven years to break even. This still allows for a fairly quick break even point and an even
greater return on investment when considering long term financial goals.
The Galleria project is the most suitable for FTI, and it will fit in well with the strategic plans for
the company and will provide a strong financial return on investment. Building new competencies is
important to FTI to help achieve their vision of being among the top 10 hospitality service
providers and the corresponding mission statement of attracting more visitors and customers.
Proposed Resources
FTI will need to shift resources to manage this program. Sprint was faced with a similar problem in
their Enterprise Property Services project. They devoted 25% of their executive team to manage the
new program management. Sprint was able to do this by outsourcing

Father In Huckleberry Finn
Huckleberry (Huck) Finn, the main character in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, had
lacked the important person that every young boy needs, a father. Huck s biological father was

he could get his hands on. When he finally tried to be in Huck s life he kidnapped him, and only
came back around because the word of Huck now having a great quantity of money meant he
would have an endless supply of liquor. Knowing the scarcity of Huck s father in his life, it is clear
that Huck needed an individual to take him under their wing and teach him lessons about life and
the world he lives in. Throughout the entire novel, Jim s actions indicate that he was looking...

Gay Men and Adoption Debate Essay
Gay Men and Adoption Debate
My investigation is based on the issue should gay men be allowed to adopt .
My aims are:
(1) To find out how the media portray gay adoption
(2) To uncover the attitudes of the general public toward gay adoption.
I am interested in this issue because I believe that it is unfair that gay people suffer more prejudice
than straight people when adopting a child. I think they should just be given the same checks as
straight people.
My first aim links into the parts of the syllabus; The Media and Power and Authority.
My second aim links in with The Family, Power and Authority, The Media and Stratification and

Ultimately the contemporary family is more diverse. Today, more than in the past, gay couples
are more widely accepted, but there is still a longstanding taboo hanging over the idea of two
men bringing up a child. This is less so where there are two women, because they do not need to
adopt, and people also believe that it is women s natural goal to bring up a child. The debate over
gay men adopting is fuelled by the media who often make people scared of the idea.
Methodology ===========
For this investigation I used a number of methods to create my report. When distributing my
questionnaires I first used a pilot questionnaire to test my style of questions. From this study I
found that some of my questions were badly worded or contained spelling mistakes. This turned
out to be very helpful as a lot of my questions were very badly worded and could cause some
confusion.
When writing my questionnaire, I was careful not to include any questions that may cause offence
to my interviewees. The subject, Finding out the publics attitudes to gay adoption could raise some
problems. For example it was difficult to ask peoples sexuality because to many people that is a
very sensitive and private issue. I also accepted that asking peoples religion was too much of a
personal question. I realise that these questions

Workplace Harassment In The Workplace
The workplace has an environment where people having different communication styles,
personalities and views come to interact. These differences play a significant role in sourcing
these workplace issues. These factors can ultimately lead to tension and stress at workplace for
people who are involved. Even though, all colleagues have all the rights for fair treatment and
they should feel safe in their workplace, some employees are bullied harassed or discriminated.
Specifically, people, who belong to LGBT community, are unsafe in their workplaces by non
discriminatory policies. Moreover, few of the employees might feel dissatisfied with their
performance and these people have to struggle in order to perform at their workplace. These
people also face the difficulty in finding a suitable job that matches their abilities and interests
(Hershcovis 499 519) Employee mistreatment problem can result in low job performance, less
productivity, termination of work, increased dissatisfaction, anxiety, stress and other mental
problems. Workplace harassment can also result on other legal problems. APA notes that
insecurity in job and lack of moral support at workplace may lead to exacerbated workplace
problems. We will discuss some of the major problems that are faced by victims of maltreatment
at workplace (Maqsood, Finegan, Walker 295 301) Some of the jobs involve higher degree of work

Aid Into Latin America And Asia Essay
had started to extend its aid into Latin America and Asia. Eleanor Roosevelt, the U.S. delegate to
the UN argued that UNICEF was a temporary group to help children after war and not that it s
over the work should be delegated to other permanent UN organizations. (Explained in more
detail) Pakistan s delegate to the UN, Ahmed Shah Bokhari, argued against Roosevelt in saying
that the images of European children after the war are the realities of children living in other
regions every day. In 1950, it was agreed that UNICEF s charter would be renewed for another 3
years, and then in 1953, Roosevelt argued to make the organization permanent. It then decided to
drop the words international and emergency from its name, so its title then became the United
NationsChildren s Fund yet keeping its full acronym as UNICEF.
In the 1950s, UNICEF spiraled into a set of mass campaigns of epidemic diseases such as
tuberculosis, yaws, trachoma, leprosy and malaria; this decade was knows as the Era of Mass
Disease Campaign . UNICEF worked to complement and help the World Health Organization,
WHO. They worked with each disease independently depending on the incredibly high amount of
cases of each illness in each region. With the help of immense advancements with technology and
medicine within the last century, UNICEF was able to effectively treat thousands even millions of

  • 2. Thesis Of Cinderella Cinderella, by the Brothers Grimm, described the life of a maiden named Cinderella. Born to a loving family, Cinderella s life had drastically changed when her ailing mother had perished from her disease. After the death of Cinderella s mother, her father had married another woman, who had two daughters. Unfortunately, Cinderella s step mother and step sisters were cruel to Cinderella, forcing her to wear rags and perform chores. Instead of voicing the abuse, Cinderella submissively endured the appalling treatment and had her value reduced to a servant. As years progressed, the king organized an extravagant ball for three days, designed to attract the prince to the maidens in the ball. Even though Cinderella desperately wanted to attend the ball, because of the cruelty of her step sisters, Cinderella remained meek and was warned she would be severely punished if she didn t sort the lentils. Rather than performing the task and arguing for her freedom, Cinderella wept and was helped by the pigeons. As the ball continued, the step sisters were discontent with the completion of their tasks, so they resumed to mistreat Cinderella by requesting her to complete further preposterous tasks. However, the pigeons would resume assisting Cinderella, even advising her to shake the tree on her mother s grave for the appropriate attire to attend the ball. Thanks to the pigeons and the tree, Cinderella attended the ball and established herself as the candidate of the prince s affection, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Optimism In Voltaire s Candide FACT: What I found extremely fascinating in Voltaire s work is the idea that It is demonstrable that things cannot be otherwise than as they are; for all being created for an end, all is necessarily for the best end (83). This quote by the character Pangloss is one of extreme optimism. He believes that they are living in the best world possible and everything that happens is meant to be. This really resonates with me because I do have the belief that God has an influence over our lives, so with that being said anything that happens good or bad God had a reason for. The concept of faith is what plays a key role in this belief; we must have faith in God and what path he paves for us whether we understand it or not. Sometimes he gives us obstacles to overcome to make us stronger, while other times he may bring good fortune. It may be hard at times to understand why God does what he does, but we must be able to take a step back and have faith in God s plan.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pangloss states from the beginning that we live in the best of all possible worlds (81). Which is seemingly the furthest thing from perfect as we continue to read. Everything that happens to Candide after being banished from the castle is a series of events that would most likely lead someone to believe that the world is a terrible place. Misfortune seems to follow Candide and his optimistic view of the world. He wanders for a time to the point of starvation when he is found by a group of men who bring him back to health, but only to place him into the hands of the Bulgar military where he is to face even more tragedy. Even through all the abuse and torture he still maintains this naГЇve outlook that life is the way it s supposed to be. Why would being beaten and abused be what was meant to be in this best of all possible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Scientific Method Essay The Scientific Method is the standardized procedure that scientists are supposed to follow when conducting experiments, in order to try to construct a reliable, consistent, and non arbitrary representation of our surroundings. To follow the Scientific Method is to stick very tightly to a order of experimentation. First, the scientist must observe the phenomenon of interest. Next, the scientist must propose a hypothesis, or idea in which the experiments will be based around. Then, through repeated experimentation, the hypothesis can either be proven false or become a theory. If the hypothesis is proven to be false, the scientist must reformulate his or her ideas and come up with another hypothesis, and the experimentation begins again. This... He then called the principles behind his experiment Metodo Scientifico or The Scientific Method. The first cases of what would be considered properly using the Scientific Method can be found earlier, though, back in the studies of Galileo, early in the 17th century. He first observed that heavy objects gain speed as they fall. He then proposed, or hypothesized, that the rate of falling of massive objects was proportional to the distance that the object has fallen. Following the Scientific Method, he tested his hypothesis and found it to be false, since objects falling unequal distances do not fall in the same amount of time, as his hypothesis led to. Since his hypothesis failed, he made a new one, which proposed that the rate at which an object falls is directly proportional to the time the object has spent falling. This was tested by rolling balls down an inclined plane and calculating the speed and time values from those observations. Later, these experiments led to the discovery of the gravitational constant g, and a better understanding of the Scientific Method. The Method has been used many times since Galileo conducted his experiments, and it has been considered a valid way of conducting experiments since ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Rods And Cones Interpretation The article titled Rods Cones is very interesting explaining to the the reader what happens in our eyes. In the human retina there are two types of photoreceptors, rods and cones. The rods and cones have different purposes. The rods are responsible for vision at low light, which is called scotopic vision. The cones are active for light at higher levels, called photopic vision. The cones are capable of color vision and are responsible for high spatial acuity. The rods on the other hand do not mediate color vision, and have a low spatial acuity. There are 3 different types of cones short wavelength, middle wavelength and long wavelength sensitive cones. The article explains that turtles, fish, frogs and we humans all have different shapes and sizes of receptors across and within a species. Figure 1. presents a schematic diagram of the rods and cones. In this figure, one can see in the outer segments of rods the cell membrane... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Positive reinforcement has nothing to do, whether the behavior is good or bad. It is rather the consequence of presenting something pleasant, such as a reward, money or sex. On the other hand, negative reinforcement is the removal of something unpleasant. Both positive and negative reinforcement strengthens our behavior. In order for our vision to occur, we need to receive and process what we see out in the natural world. The simulation example, stated that light is going to the eyes or sound wave traveling to the ear. In order for us to react to what we observe, we need to use the rods and cones based on the different situations we face on a daily basis. Use an example of someone in a dark room. The eye would naturally use the rods in your eye to obtain what the environment is like around you. • 6. Impact Of The Imperial Rule On West African Politics Essay Senegal History Despite its small size, Senegal is an important player in West African politics. It has had a long history, from its days as a collection of tribal kingdoms, to its existence under French rule and eventual decolonization, to its place today as a model of peaceful democracy ( it is one of the few African states that has managed to avoid military or political coups since its independence in 1960 (Anderson, 2013)). Senegal has retained much of its traditional African values as well as adapted to traditional European ideals (Gellar, 1995). France and other European countries have had a profound effect on the social, political and economic structures Senegal has in place today. By analyzing the previous structures developed by the Africans and then comparing them to the placed upon them by the French, one can truly begin to understand the extent of the transformation that has occurred. Before the imperial rule in the Senegambia area, governing methods were largely focused upon a single dominant power ruling over various villages, towns, and social groups that were incorporated into the dominant political unit (Gellar, 1995). The excessive land space to population ratio at the time meant that controlling vast amounts of land did not determine a kingdom s power, it was instead based upon the amount of people under their rule. Because there was little competition for territory, a ruling government did not have permanent borders (Gellar, 1995). This is unlike ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consequently, the question asked is how this rapid method of advancement in technology and science came about. It definitely did commence slowly. Most of the protracted infringement to scientific and technological progress was due to theological beliefs and political incompetents. It was only after the Protestant Reformation that significant progress was finally attained; it still progressed slowly. Classical economical ideals came to the fore when the prices of raw materials such as cotton went down and productivity went up. According to Spielvogel, the amount of cotton imported into Britain in 1760 was two and a half million pounds but by 1787, the rate had increased approximately nine fold, and by 1840, one hundred and fifty fold. This machine enhanced the free trade ideals of laissez faire economics, made the factory as an institution, created the idea of worker unions, led child labor laws, and the ideology of Marxism. The creation of a better means of transportation other than the horse was now available. In 1804, a British mining engineer, Richard Trevithick (1771 1833), built the first steam powered locomotive that hauled seventy individuals and ten tons of ore at five miles per hour. Improving on Trevithick s machine, George Stevenson built a better locomotive, known as the rocket , that could move six cars of coal and twenty one passenger coaches at faster speed in 1830. • 10. A Modest Proposal Analysis Essay A Modest Proposal Literary Analysis By J J Mr. H Period 6 2 May 2011 Jonathan Swift s Use of Satire and Exaggeration Satire is a form of literature in which an author tries to demonstrate his or her point of view by ridiculing. The author uses heavy irony and sarcasm in order to criticize a social issue. A perfect example of a work of satireis Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal. In this satirical essay, Jonathan Swift attacks on the issue of the Irish poverty in the 1700s. One example is when he states that a child just born will weigh twelve pounds, and in a solar year, if tolerably nursed, will increase to twenty eight pounds (804). By giving infants a set of instructions and guidelines, in analogy to livestock, Swift tries to make it seem as if he has no emotional attachment to the Irish children. When Swift is describing the use of children as commodities, it is ironic because his intentions are to actually explain that the English view the whole Irish population as commodities. The English landlords are the ones responsible for Ireland s poverty. The essay shows, through sarcasm, that the English have purposely took everything from the Irish because they view them as commodities. One example of sarcasm used to portray that idea is that the utilization of infants will be proper for landlords, who, as they have already devoured most of the parents, seem to have the best title to the children (804). It is very apparent that Swift blames the English for Ireland s problems. He also blames the Irish Catholics that allowed English policy to break down Ireland. The essay illustrates that the greed filled English have taken away everything from the Irish. This includes their material things such as their money, their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

TV news programmes try to be as objective, fair and accurate when presenting their stories to the public but what does it actually mean. Objectivity means not being bias, judgemental or prejudice when presenting the news. Fairness means that the information is free from discrimination while accuracy means the facts are true and free from error. In other words, the news stories that reporters make should not have personal opinions towards an issue. This is so that the news stories, that are shown to the public, are neutral and unbiased. The fascination of the sphinx and the questioning of the pyramids have typically led archeologists to devote their time and efforts into unraveling the mysteries and figuring out the ways of the Egyptian culture. However, some may argue that the alluring aspect of the Ancient Egyptian history and culture is mummification. Some people bury their dead in the ground so that their soul can carry on to heaven while their body turns to dust. Others chose to burn the body and reduce it to ashes that are either kept in memorial or are dispersed. The Egyptians, on the other hand, believed in a different way of life after death and the burial of the body. They desired to preserve the remains as a basic element for survival after death, as well as the journey into the afterlife. With such exotic funerary process, the Egyptians created a view as being a morbid, death obsessed society. Mummification played a major role in Ancient Egyptian s religious belief of life after death, but the process of this unique burial and display of the corpse differed depending on the time period the ritual was performed. Compare And Contrast The Pantheon In Athens And The Parthenon Two Ancient Monuments Two of the ancient world s best examples of architecture, which still exist today, are the Pantheon in Athens, and the Parthenon in Rome. Both of these monuments are more than just classical temples, they are symbols of the great civilizations of the past which constructed them. Achievements which have stood the test of time, despite the fact they have been stripped of their former glory. First of all let s consider the older of the two, the Parthenon. The Parthenon stands on the top of the Acropolis, a rocky outcrop in the center of Athens, Greece. Work began on the temple complex shortly after the war with Persia ended, from 447 to 432 BCE. The funds to finance the building of this grand monument came from the surplus of the war treasury of the Delian League, an alliance of city states created for the sake of defence against the Persians. The Acropolis had suffered greatly in the war when the Persians invaded Athens in 480 BCE, looting and destroying the temples. I Put A Spell On You Analysis If the stage cannot be richer than the cinema, let it be poor Jerzy Grotowski believed in the supreme power of an actor s performance above all else and that great theatre does not need extravagant sets, costumes, props or gimmicks and that in fact the actor s voice and body skills should be primary spectacle on stage . The 12 dramatic elements are a set of concepts designed to help an actor deliver a believable performance. All 12 elements when used cohesively, is guaranteed to help an actor become the primary spectacle on stage. Focus, space and sound are important elements that were showcased in Que Sera, Sera and I Put A Spell On You . In Que Sera, Sera , sound worked as a means of contrast, authenticity and character development. Within the performance contrast using sound played an important part. In the opening scene, as each character introduced themselves to the audience by checking in for their appointment, characters clearly differentiated from the other, with a loud and over excitable character to a character who barely spoke and when she did, was barely a whisper. The sound and tone of voice used for each character helped develop each character separately and made clear that there was diversity and contrast among the characters. Is Football A Dangerous Sport For High School Sports Is Football a Dangerous Sport for High School Students In the three sources we ve read about whether football is too dangerous for high school students to play in high school, I disagree with its being too dangerous. If playing football is too dangerous in high school, then it should be dangerous for the N.F.L playersto play too. They are more aggressive and train harder than the high school players. It can cause lots of concussion. Or even worse injuries than concussions. Additionally, the injuries to high school students are greater than in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) football players. If there are concerns with high school football players getting too many concussions, then they should have them train differently. There are ways to reduce the number and severity of football injuries through targeted intervention. Because we observed high levels of ankle and knee injuries, we recommend increased conditioning by ankles and knee rule changes aimed at protecting these vulnerable body sites. (Source 1) What Christy Collins, MA, research associate in CIPR at Children s Hospital and co author of the study says about increasing conditioning with ankles and knees is a good example of what they should do with the high school football players. Some people might stress the importance of keeping some things the same holding onto their quaint traditions with outstanding vigour, but sometimes things just need a good old fashion overhaul and that s something Shafer is in dire need of. Prime examples of this are readily evident even in your first trounce through Shafer, the beige walls give a horribly dreary feeling to all who inhabit its creativity stifling abode, lined with paintings of old men nobody cares about, book stands that are rarely filled, and you can tell by the lack of life in all parts of this extremely modest library that this ... • 46. Essay on Moral Argument for Existence of God All moral arguments for the existence of God work on the principle that we all have a shared sense of morality. Despite cultural differences, broadly speaking, humans worldwide have a vague idea of what is right and what is wrong; a moral argument for the existence of God would say that this mutual understanding is proof of Gods existence. Immanuel Kant put forward this argument (although, not a moral argument); God as the source of objective morality. Firstly, he addressed the categorical imperative; our own sense of duty, and that being moral was case of following this principle, for example, paying your debts. He said that it was our duty to promote the highest good (summum bonum), however virtue and happiness are independent of one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kant s other assumption is that everybody s aim is achieve summum bonum, but it would be wrong to assume that everybody has the same goals in life. We can summarise Kant s argument into three different stages, firstly; morality demands us to aim for the highest good, secondly; we cannot attain this unless there is a God to assist us, and lastly; God must exist to ensure that we achieve that which we are duty bound to do. If you were to share Kant s assumptions, it would become necessary to assume that there is a God. Although Kant s argument is indeed notable, there are a number of criticisms. Firstly, it does not prove the God of classical theism, for if summum bonum can be achieved by humans, then it means that not only God can, and he is not omnipotent. Secondly, Kant makes the enormous assumption that virtue must be rewarded by happiness, but gives nothing to back up why this has to be the case. It is like saying that salt and vinegar must go together on chips, but as they can t in this life, there must be an afterlife where this can happen, such an assumption seems absurd. Another weakness, as previously mentioned above, is that it seems wrong to assume that everyone feels that the same sense of duty to strive for summum bonum. HP Owen and Cardinal Newman put forward another moral argument, morality as derived from God (via conscience and objective laws or rules). For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
