Ashes In John Clarke s The Grapes Of Wrath
Words that rhyme with Ashes such as smashes, crashes, trashes, and bashes are all
negative. Ashe s parents have been divorced for 2 years since she stole the money.
Ashleigh only gets to see her dad once a week and the rest of the time she s with
her mom. Ashes dad is a dreamer and her mom is very practical. Ashes stole the
money because her dad was sweet to her, she loved him, and her mom was a stick
in the mud. Ashe s dad did many sweet things for her so she decided to steal the
money. Ashe s dad gave her roses or sang her a song which cheered her up.
Ashleigh s dad would do nice things for her because she was his daughter, but also
because he wanted her to favor him. Ashes and her dad like to treat themselves to
nice dinners every once in awhile. Ashleigh s dad may not of been able to afford it,
but he took her to the restaurants because he wanted what s best for her. Ashes dad
told her: You have flair Ashes. (Pfeffer,2). Ashes dad loved to give compliments,
especially to his daughter because he wanted her to think the best of herself.... Show

In the story Ashe s dad is telling her that her mom is, ... the most level headed
woman... he knows (Pfeffer,2). Ashleigh would want to live with her dad because
her mom is a level headed woman, which has about the same meaning as the
phrase: stick in the mud. Ashes says that her dad is, ...unexpectedly there, like a
warm day in January. (Pfeffer,1). This is a simile comparing her dad to a warm
day in January. That means Ashe s dad is enjoyable because in January it s cold
and if there is a nice warm day it is nice to have. Ashes and her dad both said: She s
the most practical person I know. (Pfeffer,1). Ashleigh and her dad both said her
mom was practical which means she s realistic and she doesn t dream about things.
Ashe s mom was a stick in the mud, so she would prefer to stay with her

Uranium Mining in Australia Essay
To what extent should there be limitation on the mining of uranium in Australia ?
Uranium has become a big issue as an alternative energy resource in the future due to
the shortage of fossil fuel as a primary energy resource in the world. Australia is one
of country that has the largest uranium deposits in the globe. So, Australia has
important opportunity to make a lot of money from uranium exports to other
countries. However, the Australian Government is still debating this issue because of
the negative impact of uranium mining and exploration. For these reason, some
people believe that uranium mining has more positive impacts on the economy such
as, income benefits from uranium exports and an increase a new job opportunities.
However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also point out that the industry has forty per cent of the world uranium reserves.
Based on that reasons, the uranium industry in Australia could make a big profit from
export of uranium if the government takes it seriously. Also, they should be good
regulation for uranium trading such as local trading and international trading. So,
some people think that there should not be limitations on mining of uranium. Another
argument against the limitations on uranium mining in Australia is that uranium
mining can increase job opportunities to local people in Australia. According to
Greenpeace Australia Pacific (2006), the uranium industry could create a large
number of job opportunities because this industry needs a lot of employees to support
this industry. If the Australian Government expands its uranium mining, it will create
potential local jobs and it would be one solution to solve the unemployment problem.
So, some people believe that the limitation of uranium mining is not necessary
because it can reduce job opportunities in Australia. These economic concerns are
important in the uranium mining debate because the Australian Government can
make huge profits from that industry and solve the unemployment problem as well.
However, there are some important aspects that must be considered such as, uranium
as the main material for nuclear weapons, nuclear power is not efficient or effective,
and there is harmful radiation from the mining of uranium. The first reason
The Anatomy Of The Knee Injuries
Shianne Rey
Complete Tear of the ACL A torn ACL is one of the most serious and common knee
injuries. Many aspects play a role in the treatment and rehabilitation of this injury.
This paper will discuss the anatomy of the knee, describe a torn ACL, and the
rehabilitation. The knee is a hinge joint which gives the legs mobility. The muscles
and ligaments of this joint allows flexion and extension of the leg. Because the knee
supports the majority of the body weight, it is at risk of overuse and traumatic
injuries (France). The knee is composed of 3 major bones; the femur, tibia, and the
fibula. The femur is the biggest bone in the human body, the inferior end flares out
into two rounded landmarks called femoral condyles. Their name comes from the
side of the body they are on, which is where we get Lateral Femoral Condyle and
Media Femoral Condyle. Superiorly to these condlyes are the medial and lateral
femoral epicondyles. The bones inferior to the femur are the Tibia and Fibula. The
superior end of the Tibia flares out into slightly concave structures called the Tibial
Plateaus. A crescent wedge shape of cartilage sits in each plateau. These are the
Medial Meniscus and the Lateral Meniscus. This cartilage acts as a shock absorber
and distributes forces. The menisci are bathed by the synovial fluid of the knee
(France). The meniscus is what separates the each side of the Tibia and Femur and
the transverse ligament connects each menisci. There is a circular bone on the

Designing An Aesthetic Functional Website Essay
To create an aesthetic functional website I will need 30 hours. This will allow me to
work meticulously and ensure all components function correctly. Additionally to
ensure my site follows copyright legislation I will create many of my own images.
My hourly rate for website design is ВЈ15 per hour. In addition to HTML/Javascript
coding, I will employ my skills in flash, graphic design and application development.
I feel this is an appropriate wage for an employee with my skillset. To keep my
websiteonline there will be many maintenance costs and regular activities. I will try
to seek out a reliable economically friendly hosting service with a good reputation. I
believe cloud hosting services are considered the most economically friendly
because you can opt out a contract at any time. Upon finding a host I will consider
the potential success of my website by conducting a risk assessment, compatibility
test and performance examination. If I believe the site will be unstable I will not opt
for a contracted hosting site. If I feel it will be successful I might be persuaded to get
a contract. To find a reliable service I will use the internet to look for comparisons
and reviews for each service.
My other responsibility will include promoting the site using reliable marketing
strategies . To promote a website, I will use pop ups, spiders, direct marketing,
domain names and blogs. In my final website design, I will have a facebook page

Similarities Between Oedipus And Hamlet
Throughout William Shakespeare s classic play, Hamlet, it is very clear that the
Prince of Denmark suffers from severe parental problems. These problems bear a
stark resemblance to those borne by Oedipus, the classic staple of Greek mythology.
The similarities, however, end and begin with an unhealthy obsession towards the
mothers of each character and a distinct distaste towards the father that would border
on hatred. Oedipus is, due to childhood experiences that were uncontrollable to him,
largely unaware of these issues and even takes steps to disprove them. Hamlet, on the
other hand, finds himself in this situation due to circumstances that he encounters
later in life. While both Hamlet and Oedipus have very unnatural and unusual... Show

Hamlet s distaste towards Claudius and his obsession towards his mother can be
seen when he states, Why, she would hang on him/ As if increase of appetite had
grown/ By what it fed on, (Shakespeare 1.2.147 149). This quote can be found in
Hamlet s Act 1, Scene 2 soliloquy, in which he laments about his mother s new
marriage to Claudius. In this quote particularly, Hamlet is distressing over the fact
that Hamlet s mother has moved on quickly after his father s death and seemed to
only grow closer to Claudius the more time she spent with him. To the reader, this
may not seem so unusual as situations like those often occurred in the time of
Shakespeare as a way for one person to gain royal power. Hamlet, however, fails to
see the logical explanation and instead focuses solely on the distress he feels over his
mother s relationship with Claudius.
Hamlet and Oedipus have two vastly different reactions to the familial situations
they find themselves in. While the story of Oedipus is often used to describe a
situation in which a person feels romantic ties towards one of his or her parents and a
loathing towards the other, the reaction of Oedipus when he realizes the situation he
has found himself in is relatively suitable. Unlike many of the situations that the story
is used to describe, Oedipus lives mostly unknowing to his incest and does not live
normally once he realizes the situation. He instead chooses to act in the manner
Calvin s Computer Case
Facts:
Calvin has bought a notebook computer and peripheral equipment including printer
/scanner, software, external hard drive, and additional flat panel monitor (from here
on out referred to as computer ) costing $5,000 during the tax year. His employer,
Diversified Investments did not reimburse him for the purchase of this notebook
computer. The computer is used twenty five percent for business use and seventy
five percent for personal use. The business use of this computer is related to Calvin s
business of being an employee of Diversified Investments. The computer is
exclusively used at Calvin s home. In addition, purchase of the notebook computer is
not a condition of employment for Calvin to be employed at Diversified Investments.

Ase mentioned earlier, Section 280F(d)(4) clearly identifies Calvin s computer as
listed property. Section 280F(d)(3)(A) addresses the employee use of listed
property. In general. Any employee use of listed property shall not be treated as
use in a trade or business for purposes of determining the amount of any
depreciation deduction allowable to the employee (or the amount of any
deduction allowable to the employee for rentals or other payments under a lease of
listed property) unless such use is for the convenience of the employer and
required as a condition of employment. Since Calvin s employer, Diversified
Investments, did not require him to buy the computer, the computer was not
required as a condition of employment. Since the computer is listed property that is
not for the convenience of the employer and required as a condition of
employment, employee use of the computer is not considered as use in trade or
business. Since the computer is not considered to be in business use, it is
considered to be a personal use asset. Section 262 addresses personal expenses such
as Calvin s laptop. It says Except as otherwise expressly provided in this chapter, no
deduction shall be allowed for personal, living, or family expenses. Nowhere in the
chapter does it expressly provide that a notebook computer and peripheral equipment

The use of torture has become a prominent matter of...
The use of torture has become a prominent matter of dispute as we enter an age of
the global war on terror. The debate on whether it has become morally permissible to
torture terrorists is argued by many as the legitimacy of such actions are brought into
question in a world where global terror is outstanding. With the use of the ticking time
bomb scenario, some make a desirable case that in special circumstances, there is a
right to torture individuals implicated is acts of mass violence. Yet many would still
argue that there are an array of inconsistencies hidden within the ticking bomb
scenario and there are no circumstances where torture can be morally permissible, no
matter what the consequences may hold.
The ticking time bomb ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like most people who debate the use of torture in global war, Krauthammer agrees
that in general interrogation methods it cannot be justified but believes that the
ticking time bomb scenario is the only exception to this justification. Even then he
states that it is an issue that should involve highly specialised individuals who are
experts in torture techniques and interrogation. (Krauthammer, 2005:4) If we
legitimise torture by means of specialised and trained individuals in the ticking bomb
scenario, is he suggesting that we train people to commit these acts in the way that
we gain the crucial information without inflicting fatal injury? It would be argued
then, that Krauthammer s specialised group of individuals with the knowledge in
torture would create a type of torture culture in society and would not only make
torture morally permissible in the scenario, but legitimise its use completely. (Luban,
2005:1446)
Krauthammer s idea of limiting torture techniques to specialised individuals and
creating a torture culture conflicts significantly with the right of torturing individuals
in extreme circumstances. A torture culture built upon teaching becomes a form of
practice and with that, the activity of torture becomes a socially organised affair. It
becomes a legitimate exercise and in reference to the ticking time bomb scenario,
insinuates the normalisation of torture and a torture culture. (Luban, 2005:1445 46)
David Luban claims that
Comparing Lord Of The Flies And Violence Essay
The fictional novel, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, is a some what violent
novel. The amount of violence escalates gradually from the beginning to the end.
At first he boys are very mean to piggy, which leads to them killing a pig, which
ultimiltly leads to them killing Simon. The theme of the Lord of the Flies is that
hatred leads to violence, which ultimately leads to an anarchy of violence. The
esculation of violence is very to similar to that of The Lottery by Shirley Jackson.
When the Lords of the Flies starts there is little to no violence at all. The novel
takes place during a war in the 1950 s. A plane crashes on a deserted island
somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.... Show more content on

Jack starts to be mean to Piggy when he says that Piggy is talking too much, he
then proceeds to say Shut up, Fatty. (Golding, 27). This compares to The Lottery
because at the beginning of The Lottery there is no violence and the atmosphere
seems very calm. The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh
warmth of a full summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass
was richly green ( Jackson, 1). The morning is very calm and there is no violence
what so ever. The boys start to show signs of violence when they kill the sow. They
kill the sow while singing a very violent chant over and over again. They say their
chant Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood while jack kills his first
pig(Golding, 96). This is most likely the event that causes the violence to escalate
greatly. This compares to The Lottery because toward the middle of the short story,
some conflict arise. Mrs. Hutchinson starts to think they ought to start over, ... I tell
you it wasn t fair. You didn t give him time enough to choose. Everybody saw that
(Jackson, 6). Lastly the violence escalated tremendously when the boys had
The ! Kung Bushman Community Analysis
Introduction
The !Kung Bushman, also referred to as San, people have been in constant
oppression of capitalism and globalization which has been destroying their ethnicity
and culture for the past two to three decades. The !Kung were the original inhabitants
of southern Africa who lived a nomadic life as hunters and gatherers. This rich
heritage and lifestyle represents a natural humanity living in harmony within the
environment and nature of their surroundings (Lee, Hitchcock, Biesele 2002). But in
the reality of the present day !Kung, their lifestyles have changed significantly with
the expansion of capitalism in Africa. Lee, Hitchcock and Biesele (2002) explained

Cost control in manufacturing firms means that control of all items of expenditure by
regular and frequent comparisons of actual expenditure with predetermined standards.
This means that undesirable trends away from the standard can be detected and
corrected at the early stage, (Horngren, 2002).
Profitability is the total net gains from the business, which exceeds interest on capital
at current rates (Marshall, 1998). Profit is regarded as the most common and
theoretically plausible objective of business firms to the extent that some firms take
it as the only objective (Dwivedi, 2002). As per Lipsy (2006), to an accountant, profit
means the difference between total receipts and total costs of producing commodities.
To the economic sense, profit means net increase in the wealth which is cash flow
plus change in the value of the firm s assets, (Pandey, 2005).
According to Arora (1995), cost control techniques aims at improving efficiently by
controlling and reducing costs to the lowest profitable figure. If the selling price
remains constant, the reduction of costs involved results in a greater profit. When the
commodities produced are sold, cost control as a preventive function aims to prevent
costs from exceeding the predetermined target. In order to et an adequate return on
capital employed, its essential to aim at minimum cost and maximum quality

had developed into everyday conversation for all Americans considering the end of
the World War 11, and the beginning of the cold war. In 1952 a man named Joseph

The Modern Islamic Financial Institutions Essay
Introduction:
Conventional finance is Based on the neoclassical economic assumption which
assumes that every individual that are involve in the economy have a profit
maximization goal. In order to achieve that, the neoclassical economy also assumes
that this profit maximization is being done by every rational individual which will
weigh risk and return in every opportunity.
Although there is no issue with profit maximization in Islam as long as it does not
lead to harm or exploitation to society (Al aali 2012), the means of maximizing profit
is more than just weighing the risk and return. Profit maximization in Islam should
abide to Shariah.
Abiding to Shariah in an overview is Prohibitions of riba, gharar and maysir, this is
what distinguish Islamic finance from its conventional counterpart (Ayub, 2007). As
an alternative, Islamic financial system have interest free loans, Islamic joint ventures
(musharakah/mudarabah) and trade or lease based (murabaha/ijarah/salam) financing
structures (Azmat et al. 2015). Contemporary Islamic financial institutions have
developed, and continue developing, products that mirror the classical Islamic
products, and evade from the association with riba, gharar and maysir (Kamla Alsoufi
2015).
With increasing demand for Shariah compliant stocks, countries like Malaysia have
moved to introduce an Islamic stock market as an alternative to conventional stock
market. This stock market consists of stock that is compliance to the Shariah. To

Economic And Political Risks Of Algeria
Algeria is a CRT 5 country with high levels of economic and political risk and very
high financial system risk. In terms of economics high oil revenue declined over 45%
in first quarter of 2015. This then led to state spending cuts and delay of surplus of
state funded projects contributing to the limit of revenue shortfall. The
unemployment rate is also high at 10% contributing to the instability of the economic
financials. Politically the risks are high due to large scale labor strikes, due to
inadequate housing, high unemployment rates. Budget cuts will continue to
contribute to this issue. The local boarders are shared with Mali, Tunisia, and Libya
therefore terrorism is a problematic concern. They are unable to secure the desert
boarders specifically with Al Qaeda being less than 75 miles from Algiers. Financially
the insurance industry is Algeria is regulated by Direction des Assurances under the
treasury of the Ministry of Finance. The IMF concluded in Algeria s June 2014
Financial System Stability Assessment that there were no pressing financial stability
concerns given the country s small size, significant state ownership and its limited
integration into international financial markets. State owned companies continue to
dominate the financial sector, both banking and insurance. Progress towards
privatization has been stalled in light of global financial conditions, muted investor
appetite and regional unrest. The business operating environment remains challenging

Dweck has demonstrated that students develop a perception of intelligence and
what it is. Some young people believe that intelligence is something that can
change while others believe that intelligence is fixed and cannot be altered. Based
on Dweck s research, how a child perceives their intelligence level will affect how
they perform in school (Dweck, 1986, 1988, 2006, 2010). Dweck states in her
research that everyone has certain beliefs about themselves that create different
psychological worlds that lead to a host of thoughts, feelings, and actions (Dweck,
2006). People establish these beliefs based on experiences and encounters in their
life. Failures contribute to these beliefs as do successes. Once these beliefs are
engrained in people, they will begin to form perceptions on where they need to be
in life and these beliefs can influence their mind set to either a fixed or growth
mindset. A person with a fixed mindset believes that his or her qualities related to a
certain task are unchangeable, while an individual with a growth mindset believes
that his or her qualities related to a certain task can be changed and improved
(Dweck, 2006). Studies have shown that mindset can affect a student s performance
in their academic life as well as their social life. Research also indicates that mindset
is something that can affect a student s performance in their academic performance.
Research also indicates that mindset is something
Who Is John Deere Innovator
John Deere, he was the farming innovator. John Deere was the first man to solve
most of the major plow issues. The first man to set up a major corporation, and it
lasted a lifetime even lasted to this day. John Deere s company has made so many
technological advances over the hundreds of years that his company has been
open. John Deere was an innovator and a very smart man. John Deere always had
a good idea of how to make his original designs better. John Deere was born in
Rutland, Vermont on February 7, 1804 (John Deere Leader Biography). He was the
son of William Rinold Deere and Sarah Yates Deere. In 1805, William Deere moved

John Deere said it was a good deal. Deere kept his end of the bargain and kept
sending all of his manufactured goods down the Mississippi River to St. Louis
and that is where all of John Deeres goods caught the train and headed for the
western parts of the United States. After Deere signed another contract with the
train company in 1871, he decided to have them ship a few of his technology and
manufactured goods down south to Texas and clear over to California to see how
much money he would make at that place. John Deere had a range in expertise
from the train to farming equipment. John Deere helped invent the mechanical
reaper for wheat in the 1859 (John Deere Facts). In the eyes of the farmers that
farmed in the Great Plains this machine saved some time and it made everyone
else happy to, because more they got planted. The more they got cut. The more the
people had to eat, Which really was a win for everybody. The farmers were able to
produce so much of their own crop that they had quite a bit left over, so they could
feed their families, and they still could sell it for some money if
Pathogenesis of Coronary Heart Disease
Introduction Coronary heart disease is caused by the narrowing of the coronary
arteries which is because of the deposition of fats and cholesterol on the inside
lining of the arteries. These deposits which also cause hardening of the walls of the
arteries also block the flow of oxygen to the heart. This deprives the heart of the
needed oxygen that is required for its proper functioning. Pathogenesis of
Coronary heart disease Studies have been conducted on the pathogenesis of the
Coronary heart disease and most of these studies have highlighted metabolism
mechanism of fats. The studies have revealed that as there is a need to feed special
diets to the patients with Coronary heart disease; these diets are to be designed in a
way that the level of total blood lipid can be maintained within the healthier limits
(Vlodaver, 2012, p. 45). It has been observed that if the daily intake of fat in the
Coronary heart disease patients is limited to 50gm, than the maintenance of total
bloody lipid levels can be assured. Signs and Symptoms One of the most common
symptoms in these cases includes chest pain which is also referred to as angina. It
is due to the lack of oxygen in the heart. The pain in the chest can vary from one
person to the other. The pain is generally observed under the breast bone. It is seen
that the pain is mainly triggered with increased motion and activity. In the case of
women, the symptoms can be fatigue, weakness and shortness of breath. Angina is

2.8 CA3130 Op Amp
CA3130A and CA3130 are op amp that combine the advantage of both CMOS and
bipolar transistors. Gate protected P channel MOSFET transistor are used in the input
circuit to provide very high input impedance, very low input current and exceptional
speed performance. The use of P,OS transistor in the input stage results in common
mode input voltage capability down to 0.5V below the negative supply terminal, an
important attribute in single supply application.
The CA3130 series circuit operates at supply voltage ranging from 5V to 16V. They
can be phase compensated with a single external capacitor, and have terminals for
adjustment of offset voltage for application requiring offset null capability

This lesson is a real eye opener as I begin planning for graduation. My mother and I

In the book, The Andromeda Strain there is a problem that faces mankind. This
problem is a strange virus that comes to Earth from an unmanned satellite, which was
in space. This satellite crashes into a small town in Arizona, which has a population
of 38 people.
When this satellite crashes into the Earth, it kills everyone, except for an old man
and a two month old baby. There are two scientists who have the job of going to the
crash site and gathering up the remains from the satellite. While the two of them are
attempting to do their job, they are mysteriously killed. The last thing that people on
the other end of their radio heard was a loud scream, then static.

When the satellite crashes to Earth, the special team of four people that the
government had previously selected, was called to this building. They had samples of
the organism, which was found by other people at the crash site sent to the building.
They were going to use this sample to research the organism. They hoped to find out
what it was and how it killed all of the people who lived in the small town in
Arizona. Everything was going well with the research, until the virus started eating
through plastic containers and the sterile suits that the workers were wearing. After
time, almost all of the workers who were in the building had been killed by this
virus. The only person that lived out of the five people who were on the selected
team was Mark Hall.
After the organism had taken over most of the building, the self destruct mechanism
of the building went into effect. Hall tried hard to reach the place where he could
shut down this mode. It took him awhile to reach this place, but he eventually
reached the switch, with only thirty four seconds to go until the building would blow

The four major characters of this book hope to accomplish very much. They hope that
they are able to work together to find out a about the organism that was very

Should Books Be Censored
Should books ever be censored or altered for any reason? This has been a more recent
debate in history. Everyone, of all ages read. It is crucial what they read is put
down as it was intended to be. I believe books should not be censored or altered for
any reason. I believe this is because it would deprive people of learning about the
world around them and deprive people of the opportunity to think, question, and
explore. Censoring or altering a bookis a bad idea. A younger generation needs to be
able to read what the author is truly feeling or thinking. It would deprive people of
learning about the world around them. Books are a special thing. Crystal Lombardo

Slugger Curse Essay
The story of the slugger curse is quite an interesting one, due to the fact that it
revolves around a pretzel. Throughout the history of sports teams there has always
been superstions invloved with wins and loses. However, a team that always
seemed to come out as a win, were the sluggers. That was until a major turn of events
took place; a death. After Manchester died meraculously, the sluggers never won
another championship. What was the reasoning behind that? Due to questions
surfaced after the death of Manchester, one occured the most; was his brother
Skidmore behind the death? There is many ways that the author hints at the fact that
Skidmore killed his brother, but never comes out and says it. To begin with, one of
the author s main subjects leads with food related items. Such as the topic of the
bubblegum allergythat Manchester s brother, Skidmore had. The author talks about
how deathly allergic to bubblegum that Skidmore was. Also that Skidmore resented
his brother for serving it at all of his games, while knowing of his brother s allergy
to it. The author states, Skidmore saw his brother s sweet, chewable candies as a

Manchester choked, that is when the Sluggers started their losing streak. The
author states in his text, From the moment Manchester Boddlebrooks choked on
the world s first ballpark pretzel, the Sluggers began a string of failures never
before seen by any team in any sport. This goes to prove that the pretzel cursed this
team, and it may have been exactly what Skidmore had wanted all along. His brother

capacity building activities with the goal of educating, empowering, and creating
lasting change in a community. Alternative Measures: Efficiency and Effectiveness
and their frameworks Two categories of performance measurements are internal and
external indicators. The internal indicator is a measure of efficiency about the NGOs
need to gauge its funding, budgeting efficiency, expenses, and costs. The external
indicator is about the effectiveness that deals with the NGOs relationship with its
environment, including local NGOs. The chart on the following page illustrates the
components of two indicators. Although many indicators are available to NGOs,
their agenda still determines their preferred indicators. For example, a donor driven
NGO will pay more attention to the efficiency of its project. It can check for their
fundraising efficiency, financial transparency, programs/projects financial efficiency.
This internal indicator functions by following a logical framework. A log frame
comprises inputs, activities, outputs, immediate outcomes, intermediate outcomes,
and impact. A transformative driven NGO will focus on indicators of effectiveness
and applies an input impact framework that assesses inputs, activities, outputs,
outcomes, and impacts. A mandate driven NGO will focus on an indicator of
effectiveness. In doing so, it applies a common outcome framework that considers
program based measures (satisfaction and participation), community based measures

Iran s Support For International Terrorism
Introduction
The 1979 Revolution in Iran ended a truly symbiotic relationship between the United
States and the Shah, thus creating the beginning of a longwinded road of economic
sanctions imposed upon Iran. As a result of Iran s support for international terrorism
and its aggressive actions against nonbelligerent shipping in the Persian Gulf,
President Ronald Reagan, on October 29, 1987, issued Executive Order 12613
imposing a new import embargo on Iranian origin goods and services , and for when
rogue Iranians took American citizens hostage at the embassy, releasing them months
later, the relationship began to become strained. In following the history of the

all trade and investment activities with Iran by banks, companies, or any persons are

through use of a case study and analysis of the literature at hand to help prove the
theory that sanctions have been ineffective throughout our historical use of them. It
will identify the problem as being one of nuclear deterrence to solve for Iran s

States and all involved allies should employ soft power peace talks to negotiate trade

Is Life Of Pi Responsible For Death
Should people be held responsible for their actions in a life or death situation?
Depending on whether or not they knew they would get themselves into this
situation, the answer is ultimately, yes. Some don t even know that they are getting
themselves into a situation that could potentially cause them great pain or death.
Obviously, that says something about their character, that they don t realize they
could die at any moment during their expedition, but does their foolishness grant
them free passage from having to pay for their actions?
In Life of Pi, Pi is on a boat with a Tiger trailing behind on a life raft. Pi feels
obligated to make sure this Tiger lives because it is the only animal left from his
family s zoo; he wants to tame the Tiger.
The Call Of The Wild
Jack London, one of the most world renowned authors in history, wrote a book
called The Call of the Wild and a short story called To Build a Fire. These two
writing pieces share similar attitudes and setting. In addition, their endings and
travel style are much different. The Call of the Wild and To Build a Fire have
these two similarities and two differences that add a lot of meaning to each story.
The four parts of setting in these stories are very similar. On page 15 in The Call of
the Wild it says Buck s feet sank into white mushy something very like mud. Here,
Buck experiences snow for the first time, and snow is a huge part of the physical
setting in this story. In To Build a Fire on page 1 it says, The Yukon
lay a mile wide
and hidden under three feet of ice. The main characterin To Build a Fire was near the
Yukon ice covered river, which is freezing cold. These are just part of the physical
setting, which defines Buck as well as the society (social setting) of the Yukon and
creates their harsh way of life up in the Northland. In a nutshell, the setting of these
two stories dictates their plot as well as how these characters react to the immense
challenges that are presented to them by their harsh landscape, the Yukon. The
attitude of some of these characters are also similar to each other in many ways.
Hal, Charles, and Mercedes ignorant attitudes are similar to the attitude of the man in
To Build a Fire. Their sled dogs confirm this in the quote on page 34

Lines and Cube per Order Distribution The lines and cube per order distribution
(see Figure 2 9) brings together in one profile the critical information needed to
define order picking strategy. It is a joint distribution that classifies all orders into
lines per and cube per families. It illustrates the typical daily picking activity.
Purchase Order Profiling The purchase order profile includes the same
distributions (order mix distributions, lines per order distribution, and lines per
order distribution) as the customer order profile. The only difference is that the
purchase order is inbound to your warehouse, and the customer order is outbound
from your warehouse. The purchase order profile is used to make the same
batching and processing strategy decisions as was the customer order profile,
except the batching and processing strategies are for receiving and putaway as
opposed to order picking. Keep in mind that your purchase order is your supplier s
customer order. ITEM ACTIVITY PROFILING The item activity profile is used
primarily to slot the warehouse, to decide for each item (1) what storage mode the
item should be assigned to, (2) how much space the item should be allocated in the
storage mode, and (3) where in the storage mode the item should be located. ITEM

Spotting A Liar Rhetorical Analysis
From viewing Pamela Meyers s video about how to spot liars, I have learned
several tips that would help me identify whether a person is lying or not lying. The
two main ideas to spotting a liar is by body language and by speech. These two
points are essential in the way a person expresses themselves, and how they speak
for themselves. According to Pamela Meyers, everyone has lied once before
whether they were aware or unaware of it. I agree that every person has lied once in
their life, but I think it depends on the situation that they were put in, which may have
been the cause that made them commit a lie. This video relates to Business
Communications since people are supposed to use a clear sense of expression when
communicating with other people through a professional business situation.
In my opinion, people are easier to be profiled by their usage of vocals depending
on their pitch, grammar, speed, and clarity. Although body language provides
visual aid, and a faster depiction of identifying a person who may or may not be
lying, it does not help all the time since body language can be adjusted or it could be
mistaken for a different meaning. In example of this, when I lie, the only thing that is
super obvious and a total ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Substance Abuse And Its Effects
According to Dictionary.com, substance abuse is defined as a long term,
pathological use of alcohol or drugs, characterized by daily intoxication, inability to
reduce consumption, and impairment in social or occupational functioning; broadly,
alcohol or drug addiction (dictionary.com). Substance use can include anything
from alcohol to any variety of drugs, prescription or illicit. Responsible alcohol use
is considered being no more than 3 drinks for a woman and no more than 5 for a
man in a single setting. Proper prescription medication use means only using the
medication as it is recommended, or prescribed, by a doctor. Any other use of the
medication falls under substance abuseand can put a person on the substance use

This same perspective was the one that set the precedence for drug abuse prevention
programs and for the rehab facilities. The treatment modalities tended to be
designed with an emphasis on the needs of the male clientele with the female
clientele being pushed through a one size fits all style treatment. This started to
change in the 1980 s after the second wave of the women s movement occurred.
Women began to question science s conclusions that pointed to a male oriented
bias in research, hypothesis and design (Anderson, p 286). Once questioned and
pushed, researchers of substance use began using what is known as the gender
lens approach. The gender lens tool was created by Dr. Anna Day at the University
of Toronto. She believed that all areas of health and health care are influenced by
gender. The idea was based on the belief of how glasses correct our vision, so
could a metaphorical gender lens correct our view on gender, allowing attention to
be focused on specific fender differences and needs of medical care that do require
more research. It was an approach that looked at both genders separately and
compared their different outcomes based on the specified genders, not based on the
total usage (Van Koughnett, The Gender Lens).
The treatment modality for substance abuse used to be a one size fits all treatment
that was geared toward the male population. Dr. Tammy Anderson
Misconceptions of Muslim Women
In society, there are some misconceptions about who Muslim women are and the
identity they have. Through hasty generalizations, Muslim women are often
depicted as being only Arab, figures of oppression, and being poles apart with
everyone. Popular media fails to recognize the diversity in this group in terms of race,
ethnicity, nationality, cultural norms, genderrole, education attainment level,
occupation and upbringing. I believe that the intersection of social inequalities in
these identifying components has rendered Muslim women invisible in society.

Stress And Stress In The Workplace
When it comes to call center agents having to go through improper training in the
workplace, increase of workload, and dealing with difficult customers. These
issues can come as a negative outcome to the organization and employees in the
area of their performance at work, absent days off, and finally leaving the
employment position takes a toll on both sides of the equation. Someone s job
performance is correlated with conscientiousness, which is the personality trait of
being careful or attentive and the satisfaction a worker has at work. And according
to the Conservation of Resources (COR) theory, that is one of the two leading
theories of stress and trauma over the past 20 years, has reported that individuals
become emotionally exhausted when they do not have enough resources to meet
work demands (Witt, Andrews Carlson, 2004, p.150). The type of resources that
should be available to employees, support o of supervisors, a sense of
independence, ability to make decisions, and control (Cordes Dougherty, 1993).
Besides, those work demands can consist of role conflict and ambiguity, role
overload, and work pressure (Witt, Andrews Carlson, 2004, p.150. And those
concepts are important to keep in mind because when work demands ends up
exceeding the resources available, job performance is reduced. When it came to
highly conscientious workers, they had to sacrifice the quantity of their work but not
the quality of their work. These type of call center agents would be

The Constitutional Convention Of Philadelphia Signed The...
Delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia signed the United States
Constitution on September 17, 1787. Designed to replace the weak Articles of
Confederation previously in place, the Constitution delineates and outlines the powers
of the different branches of government. The Constitution also includes the Bill of
Rights that states the rights of the citizens. As of this year, the Constitution is two
hundred and twenty nine years old. The Constitution continues to have an impact on
modern society as it outlines government structure, the powers given to each branch,
and the rights of the citizens it governs.
Constitutionalism refers to the limits to the power of a government over its citizens

When the Constitution was only an idea and not yet fully formed, the Federalists
supported a strong, central government represented by the Constitution and the Anti
Federalists who were against a strong national government (Johnson). Even today,
two main political parties in the United States continually create controversy over
expansion and reduction of the powers of national government. Today, the United
States has the largest military in the world. Although the military falls under national
government jurisdiction, many argue against such a large and unnecessary drain of
resources. Others claim that a large army acts as a deterrent to invaders and other
threats to the United States of America, Those for a large army maintain that cutting
the size of the United States military comes with huge risks (Shanker). Not only is
the United States troops involved in a substantial conflict every twenty years, smaller

Intellectual Disability, better known as (ID) is a disorder. Most people who have
(ID), if not found out about in childhood, may get misdiagnosed. There are different
components that determine a person s diagnosis of Intellectual Disability. Genetic
factors (A person s genetic makeup); Prenatal issues and illnesses (before birth);
Childhood illnesses and issues as well as Environmental factors all play a part in the
determinant of Intellectual Disability(WebMD,2016). Because Intellectual Disability
is a neurodevelopmental disorder, it affects a person s intellectual and adaptive

Testing of one s IQ (Intellectual Quotient) will determine their Intellectual level.
There are three levels of Intellectual disability. When there is Mild Intellectual
Disability, a person s (IQ) is below 70 (50 69) as well as impairments in two or more
adaptive areas. A person in this stage may not be discovered until they are of

Sin nature and Holiness are viewed totally from one end of the spectrum to the other
end. When viewing sin nature and holiness, there are many different concerns one
can have from this, when did sin first show up, the first it showed up through, and
the effect it has on mankind when revealed. Holiness is on the opposite of the
spectrum. It means to be set a part, keeping one s life free of sin, and honoring the
laws of God. Sin is any evil action evil motive that is in opposition to God. Simply
put, sin is failure to let God be God and placing something or someone in God s
rightful place of supremacy . (Tezel amp; Gutierrez p. 65).begin

For a season God allowed me to think I needed nothing but money, but that season
did not last long. Just when I thought I had arrived to the top, a situation hit my life
and made me realize it was not me, and it was not the money keeping me, it was God
s grace and mercy all along. Once I got my focus back and was able to repent, God
restored me and begin to talk to me about living a life style of holiness. From that
day to this one, I am forever grateful of his unfailing love toward me. As long as I
have breathe in my body, I will stay humble and continue to live a life of Holiness.
In conclusion, man is born in the nature of sin without petition, it has and forever
will meet mankind at the door of the womb. Sin nature has been around since
Genesis 3 and will continue to intrude in every life that is not willing to comment to
the will of God. Whereas Holiness came into play once Jesus was offered as the Lamb
of God, born into sin but was sinless. The door open they the people of God could
repent believe and be baptize in Jesus name, the only one the can stand on our
behalf. From him and through his Holy Spirit we can live a life of Holiness.

SLP Analysis Essay
Cumulative Final
Section 1
An analysis of Aaron s language sample reveals that he may suffer from a language
disorder. According to the American Speech Language Hearing Association also
known as, ASHA, a language disorder is defined as impaired comprehension and/or
use of spoken, written and/or other symbol systems. The disorder may involve (1) the
form of language (phonology, morphology, and syntax), (2) the content of language
(semantics), and/or (3) the function of language in communication (pragmatics) in
any combination (ASHA, 2013) . Aaron appears to have difficulty elaborating the
content of language used as well as his functional use of language in a socially
appropriate manner. Deficiencies in language can have a profound ... Show more

Phonological disorders in children can result from physical or organic causes or
may be functional in nature ( Phonological disorders in, 2013) . Children with a
phonological disorder may experience a higher risk for reading and writing
disabilities. If left unresolved, phonological disorders have long term consequences
that may interfere with an individual s future social, academic, and vocational well
being, largely resulting from persistent, reduced intelligibility of speech (
Phonological disorders in, 2013).
Morphological awareness supports a variety of literacy skills, including word
identification, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and spelling. Increased
morphological awareness enables children to analyze the internal structure of words
and decode them more quickly and accurately ( Morphological awareness:
Implications, 2013). Aaron exhibited problems with his morphological awareness in
various spots throughout the language sample. For example Aaron said And she
felled in the thing , And the lady sawed her . In these two utterances Aaron has shown
a failure to meet and use the correct past tense morphology. Through intervention the
SLP can influence the use of and knowledge of phonology and morphology on word
recognition and spelling, ultimately increasing one s morphological awareness.

United States Involvement with Vietnam Essay examples
United States Involvement with Vietnam
The USA were involved in the Vietnam conflict for a number of reasons. The first
going back to what happened during World War 2 when Japan surrendered to USA
in 1945. It was decided that the Indo Chinese territories should be given back to the
French empire. However, many Vietnamese people wanted to be independent and
free of French rule. So, the Vietminh was founded and lead into independence by
their communist leader Ho Chi Minh. Fighting soon broke out against the French
who still wanted to keep hold of Vietnam as it was very rich in natural resources like
minerals. The French soon had an army with around 500,000 soldiers both
Vietnamese and French, to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this source he is reinforcing the idea that the communisation of south Vietnam
would be the gateway to it spreading and taking over the whole of Asia. I f this
happened, the USA would have lost out as it would prevent them from being able
to import cheap raw materials over from Asian countries. Kennedy, along with the
rest of the world, were also very tense due to living under the threat of the cold war.
The USA were very much against the idea of the rest of Asia going communist as
it would have been quite likely for it to join forces with the USSR thus creating a
super force able to take of the world. Although America were very keen to go into
Vietnam to do something about Ho Chi Minh, they needed to find an excuse to do
so. The Gulf Of Tonkin Incident was the excuse they needed to increase their
involvement in Vietnam. This was what happened in 1964, when US ships thought
they were being attacked by torpedoes. Johnson, the President at the time decided
that he could use a second imaginary attack to persuade congress to agree to send in
troops to bomb North Vietnam in Operation Rolling Thunder . Johnson was
especially keen to get in and attack as he was accused of being soft on communism
and he wanted to prove otherwise. This sudden action escalated US involvement
dramatically. Another incident leading to more American involvement in the conflict

Find a unique niche that isn t being covered or isn t covered well.
Find your voice. How do you write different from anyone else? Are you serious?
Funny? Sarcastic?
Study your competition. If you plan to write about golfing for kids, then look at
what is being done out there on the blogs. What isn t covered and how can you cover
it better?

Jimi Hendrix Creative Writing
The only thing that kept us going was the hope that there would be righteous
music to rock out to. We heard of all the funky artist that would be there such as
The Who, Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead. As we finally made it to the field after
an unbearable fifty mile long backup of wheels. We saw the largest amount of
people ever. It was packed. All that could be seen was a sea of people in
bellbottoms and flowing shirts. Most people didn t have shoes on. Everyone was
setting up camp, whither that meant getting their van ready or setting up a tent like
us. We patiently waited for noon to come around when the music would finally
start. It took us a while to get to the performance area because of the mad amount
of people that were in the area. The music had just started and you could feel the
laid back nature of everything that was going on. The spirit of peace was connecting
us beautiful people all together and I could tell this was going to be sick. Sadly right
soon after the jams started the clouds hid the rays and it started to storm. The music
stopped and enormous mud... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today I started to notice a slightly grossed out smell. I noticed people were using
the bathroom anywhere they they were. I carried on however. We followed the
flower children to the stage. As the music started I could see more and more
people freaking out. To see the people being free and releasing everything into the
world was beautiful. Nothing compared. I start jumping and dancing to the beats
of the james that were playing. I notice around me how there were a lot more
people than there were the day before. It was harder to hear the music this day as
well because of it. This day was mostly bright with rays pounding on the crowed.
Saddly the rain did come back that evening and killed everyone s vibes. Once again
everyone makes their journey back to their places to try and stay somewhat
St Thomas Aquinas On Slavery
St. Thomas Aquinas on Slavery of Man The question of freedom has been a big
thing during the medieval philosophy or in that era. Thus, before reaching freedom
there has been some objectivity in attaining freedom such as the slavery of man. This
objectivity of slavery has existed in the real world which man dwells within.
Assuming that slaveryof man is a big conflict on the medieval era first, we look in a
way on how slavery become to start. Looking in a way that where does slavery
come from or such a man can be made to be a slave, or rather man is born to be
slave. As we think of as a slave on the medieval era, how did man learned to reach
the notion of freedom from being slaved. On this paper, what I proposed to do is to
examine the nature of slavery between masters and slaves, also to look on the theory
of and characteristic of natural slavery. To distinguished between natural and
conventional slavery with the comments and stands of St. Thomas Aquinasand
Aristotlein connecting to this topic guided by the following questions. First is how
can be a man labeled or considered as a slave? What is the concept of freedom of
man, if there is slavery? What is the role of man who is a slave during that time?
What was the way slave being treated? What is the stand of St. Thomas Aquinas
regarding slavery? I believe that this discussion thru St. Thomas Aquinas and
Aristotle we can see some similarities and differences.... Show more content on

order to understand St. Thomas Aquinas views on slavery, it is essential to

2.0 Management and operation
Management structures is the most essential arrangement, it appears in every type of
organization including government departments, non government organizations
(NGOs), charities, and even the local sporting association. Therefore selecting the
proper management structure makes certain an organization has nonstop expansion,
In other hand choosing the wrong structure produces tensions between employees and
managers, which allows unproductive work practices to burgeon and reduces
company profitability. In the worst case, a faulty management structure can lead to
company finality (Bombaci,CPA., n.d., pp. 1 3).
For that reason, there are a number of key components that strengthen a management
structure and should be considered when put into practice a new structure.
Several of these key components are:
Complexity
Task definition
Co ordination
Type of Influence
Vertical
Communication Style
Horizontal differentiation
Centralization
Spatial differentiation
Formalization

Ashe s parents have been divorced for 2 years since she stole the money. Ashleigh only gets to see her dad once a week and the rest of the time she s with her mom. Ashes dad is a dreamer and her mom is very practical. Ashes stole the money because her dad was sweet to her, she loved him, and her mom was a stick in the mud. Ashe s dad did many sweet things for her so she decided to steal the money. Ashe s dad gave her roses or sang her a song which cheered her up. Ashleigh s dad would do nice things for her because she was his daughter, but also because he wanted her to favor him. Ashes and her dad like to treat themselves to nice dinners every once in awhile. Ashleigh s dad may not of been able to afford it, but he took her to the restaurants because he wanted what s best for her. Ashes dad told her: You have flair Ashes. (Pfeffer,2). Ashes says that her dad is, ...unexpectedly there, like a warm day in January. (Pfeffer,1). This is a simile comparing her dad to a warm day in January. That means Ashe s dad is enjoyable because in January it s cold and if there is a nice warm day it is nice to have. Ashes and her dad both said: She s the most practical person I know. (Pfeffer,1). Ashleigh and her dad both said her mom was practical which means she s realistic and she doesn t dream about things. Ashe s mom was a stick in the mud, so she would prefer to stay with her

  • 4. Uranium Mining in Australia Essay To what extent should there be limitation on the mining of uranium in Australia ? Uranium has become a big issue as an alternative energy resource in the future due to the shortage of fossil fuel as a primary energy resource in the world. Australia is one of country that has the largest uranium deposits in the globe. So, Australia has important opportunity to make a lot of money from uranium exports to other countries. However, the Australian Government is still debating this issue because of the negative impact of uranium mining and exploration. For these reason, some people believe that uranium mining has more positive impacts on the economy such as, income benefits from uranium exports and an increase a new job opportunities. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also point out that the industry has forty per cent of the world uranium reserves. Based on that reasons, the uranium industry in Australia could make a big profit from export of uranium if the government takes it seriously. Also, they should be good regulation for uranium trading such as local trading and international trading. So, some people think that there should not be limitations on mining of uranium. Another argument against the limitations on uranium mining in Australia is that uranium mining can increase job opportunities to local people in Australia. According to Greenpeace Australia Pacific (2006), the uranium industry could create a large number of job opportunities because this industry needs a lot of employees to support this industry. If the Australian Government expands its uranium mining, it will create potential local jobs and it would be one solution to solve the unemployment problem. So, some people believe that the limitation of uranium mining is not necessary because it can reduce job opportunities in Australia. These economic concerns are important in the uranium mining debate because the Australian Government can make huge profits from that industry and solve the unemployment problem as well. However, there are some important aspects that must be considered such as, uranium as the main material for nuclear weapons, nuclear power is not efficient or effective, and there is harmful radiation from the mining of uranium. The first reason
  • 5. The Anatomy Of The Knee Injuries Shianne Rey Complete Tear of the ACL A torn ACL is one of the most serious and common knee injuries. Many aspects play a role in the treatment and rehabilitation of this injury. This paper will discuss the anatomy of the knee, describe a torn ACL, and the rehabilitation. The knee is a hinge joint which gives the legs mobility. The muscles and ligaments of this joint allows flexion and extension of the leg. Because the knee supports the majority of the body weight, it is at risk of overuse and traumatic injuries (France). The knee is composed of 3 major bones; the femur, tibia, and the fibula. The femur is the biggest bone in the human body, the inferior end flares out into two rounded landmarks called femoral condyles. Their name comes from the side of the body they are on, which is where we get Lateral Femoral Condyle and Media Femoral Condyle. Superiorly to these condlyes are the medial and lateral femoral epicondyles. The bones inferior to the femur are the Tibia and Fibula. The superior end of the Tibia flares out into slightly concave structures called the Tibial Plateaus. A crescent wedge shape of cartilage sits in each plateau. These are the Medial Meniscus and the Lateral Meniscus. This cartilage acts as a shock absorber and distributes forces. The menisci are bathed by the synovial fluid of the knee (France). The meniscus is what separates the each side of the Tibia and Femur and the transverse ligament connects each menisci. There is a circular bone on the

  • 9. Similarities Between Oedipus And Hamlet Throughout William Shakespeare s classic play, Hamlet, it is very clear that the Prince of Denmark suffers from severe parental problems. These problems bear a stark resemblance to those borne by Oedipus, the classic staple of Greek mythology. The similarities, however, end and begin with an unhealthy obsession towards the mothers of each character and a distinct distaste towards the father that would border on hatred. Oedipus is, due to childhood experiences that were uncontrollable to him, largely unaware of these issues and even takes steps to disprove them. Hamlet, on the other hand, finds himself in this situation due to circumstances that he encounters later in life. While both Hamlet and Oedipus have very unnatural and unusual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hamlet s distaste towards Claudius and his obsession towards his mother can be seen when he states, Why, she would hang on him/ As if increase of appetite had grown/ By what it fed on, (Shakespeare 1.2.147 149). This quote can be found in Hamlet s Act 1, Scene 2 soliloquy, in which he laments about his mother s new marriage to Claudius. In this quote particularly, Hamlet is distressing over the fact that Hamlet s mother has moved on quickly after his father s death and seemed to only grow closer to Claudius the more time she spent with him. To the reader, this may not seem so unusual as situations like those often occurred in the time of Shakespeare as a way for one person to gain royal power. Hamlet, however, fails to see the logical explanation and instead focuses solely on the distress he feels over his mother s relationship with Claudius. Hamlet and Oedipus have two vastly different reactions to the familial situations they find themselves in. While the story of Oedipus is often used to describe a situation in which a person feels romantic ties towards one of his or her parents and a loathing towards the other, the reaction of Oedipus when he realizes the situation he has found himself in is relatively suitable. Unlike many of the situations that the story is used to describe, Oedipus lives mostly unknowing to his incest and does not live normally once he realizes the situation. He instead chooses to act in the manner

  • 11. The use of torture has become a prominent matter of... The use of torture has become a prominent matter of dispute as we enter an age of the global war on terror. The debate on whether it has become morally permissible to torture terrorists is argued by many as the legitimacy of such actions are brought into question in a world where global terror is outstanding. With the use of the ticking time bomb scenario, some make a desirable case that in special circumstances, there is a right to torture individuals implicated is acts of mass violence. Yet many would still argue that there are an array of inconsistencies hidden within the ticking bomb scenario and there are no circumstances where torture can be morally permissible, no matter what the consequences may hold. The ticking time bomb ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like most people who debate the use of torture in global war, Krauthammer agrees that in general interrogation methods it cannot be justified but believes that the ticking time bomb scenario is the only exception to this justification. Even then he states that it is an issue that should involve highly specialised individuals who are experts in torture techniques and interrogation. (Krauthammer, 2005:4) If we legitimise torture by means of specialised and trained individuals in the ticking bomb scenario, is he suggesting that we train people to commit these acts in the way that we gain the crucial information without inflicting fatal injury? It would be argued then, that Krauthammer s specialised group of individuals with the knowledge in torture would create a type of torture culture in society and would not only make torture morally permissible in the scenario, but legitimise its use completely. (Luban, 2005:1446) Krauthammer s idea of limiting torture techniques to specialised individuals and creating a torture culture conflicts significantly with the right of torturing individuals in extreme circumstances. A torture culture built upon teaching becomes a form of practice and with that, the activity of torture becomes a socially organised affair. It becomes a legitimate exercise and in reference to the ticking time bomb scenario, insinuates the normalisation of torture and a torture culture. (Luban, 2005:1445 46) David Luban claims that
  • 12. Comparing Lord Of The Flies And Violence Essay The fictional novel, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, is a some what violent novel. The amount of violence escalates gradually from the beginning to the end. At first he boys are very mean to piggy, which leads to them killing a pig, which ultimiltly leads to them killing Simon. The theme of the Lord of the Flies is that hatred leads to violence, which ultimately leads to an anarchy of violence. The esculation of violence is very to similar to that of The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. When the Lords of the Flies starts there is little to no violence at all. Jack starts to be mean to Piggy when he says that Piggy is talking too much, he then proceeds to say Shut up, Fatty. (Golding, 27). This compares to The Lottery because at the beginning of The Lottery there is no violence and the atmosphere seems very calm. The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green ( Jackson, 1). The morning is very calm and there is no violence what so ever. The boys start to show signs of violence when they kill the sow. They kill the sow while singing a very violent chant over and over again. They say their chant Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood while jack kills his first pig(Golding, 96). This is most likely the event that causes the violence to escalate greatly. This compares to The Lottery because toward the middle of the short story, some conflict arise. Mrs. Hutchinson starts to think they ought to start over, ... I tell you it wasn t fair. You didn t give him time enough to choose. Everybody saw that (Jackson, 6). Lastly the violence escalated tremendously when the boys had

Cost control in manufacturing firms means that control of all items of expenditure by regular and frequent comparisons of actual expenditure with predetermined standards. This means that undesirable trends away from the standard can be detected and corrected at the early stage, (Horngren, 2002). Profitability is the total net gains from the business, which exceeds interest on capital at current rates (Marshall, 1998). Profit is regarded as the most common and theoretically plausible objective of business firms to the extent that some firms take it as the only objective (Dwivedi, 2002). As per Lipsy (2006), to an accountant, profit means the difference between total receipts and total costs of producing commodities. To the economic sense, profit means net increase in the wealth which is cash flow plus change in the value of the firm s assets, (Pandey, 2005).

When the commodities produced are sold, cost control as a preventive function aims to prevent costs from exceeding the predetermined target. In order to et an adequate return on capital employed, its essential to aim at minimum cost and maximum quality

Although there is no issue with profit maximization in Islam as long as it does not lead to harm or exploitation to society (Al aali 2012), the means of maximizing profit is more than just weighing the risk and return. • 21. Economic And Political Risks Of Algeria Algeria is a CRT 5 country with high levels of economic and political risk and very high financial system risk. In terms of economics high oil revenue declined over 45% in first quarter of 2015. This then led to state spending cuts and delay of surplus of state funded projects contributing to the limit of revenue shortfall. The unemployment rate is also high at 10% contributing to the instability of the economic financials. Politically the risks are high due to large scale labor strikes, due to inadequate housing, high unemployment rates. Budget cuts will continue to contribute to this issue. Some young people believe that intelligence is something that can change while others believe that intelligence is fixed and cannot be altered. Based on Dweck s research, how a child perceives their intelligence level will affect how they perform in school (Dweck, 1986, 1988, 2006, 2010). Dweck states in her research that everyone has certain beliefs about themselves that create different psychological worlds that lead to a host of thoughts, feelings, and actions (Dweck, 2006). People establish these beliefs based on experiences and encounters in their life. Failures contribute to these beliefs as do successes. Once these beliefs are engrained in people, they will begin to form perceptions on where they need to be in life and these beliefs can influence their mind set to either a fixed or growth mindset. A person with a fixed mindset believes that his or her qualities related to a certain task are unchangeable, while an individual with a growth mindset believes that his or her qualities related to a certain task can be changed and improved (Dweck, 2006). Pathogenesis of Coronary Heart Disease Introduction Coronary heart disease is caused by the narrowing of the coronary arteries which is because of the deposition of fats and cholesterol on the inside lining of the arteries. These deposits which also cause hardening of the walls of the arteries also block the flow of oxygen to the heart. This deprives the heart of the needed oxygen that is required for its proper functioning. Pathogenesis of Coronary heart disease Studies have been conducted on the pathogenesis of the Coronary heart disease and most of these studies have highlighted metabolism mechanism of fats. The studies have revealed that as there is a need to feed special diets to the patients with Coronary heart disease; these diets are to be designed in a way that the level of total blood lipid can be maintained within the healthier limits (Vlodaver, 2012, p. 45). It has been observed that if the daily intake of fat in the Coronary heart disease patients is limited to 50gm, than the maintenance of total bloody lipid levels can be assured. The internal indicator is a measure of efficiency about the NGOs need to gauge its funding, budgeting efficiency, expenses, and costs. The external indicator is about the effectiveness that deals with the NGOs relationship with its environment, including local NGOs. The chart on the following page illustrates the components of two indicators. Although many indicators are available to NGOs, their agenda still determines their preferred indicators. For example, a donor driven NGO will pay more attention to the efficiency of its project. It can check for their fundraising efficiency, financial transparency, programs/projects financial efficiency. This internal indicator functions by following a logical framework. A log frame comprises inputs, activities, outputs, immediate outcomes, intermediate outcomes, and impact. A transformative driven NGO will focus on indicators of effectiveness and applies an input impact framework that assesses inputs, activities, outputs, outcomes, and impacts. A mandate driven NGO will focus on an indicator of effectiveness. In doing so, it applies a common outcome framework that considers program based measures (satisfaction and participation), community based measures (community

The Call of the Wild and To Build a Fire have these two similarities and two differences that add a lot of meaning to each story. The four parts of setting in these stories are very similar. On page 15 in The Call of the Wild it says Buck s feet sank into white mushy something very like mud. • 37. Spotting A Liar Rhetorical Analysis From viewing Pamela Meyers s video about how to spot liars, I have learned several tips that would help me identify whether a person is lying or not lying. The two main ideas to spotting a liar is by body language and by speech. These two points are essential in the way a person expresses themselves, and how they speak for themselves. According to Pamela Meyers, everyone has lied once before whether they were aware or unaware of it. I agree that every person has lied once in their life, but I think it depends on the situation that they were put in, which may have been the cause that made them commit a lie. This video relates to Business Communications since people are supposed to use a clear sense of expression when communicating with other people through a professional business situation. In my opinion, people are easier to be profiled by their usage of vocals depending on their pitch, grammar, speed, and clarity. Although body language provides visual aid, and a faster depiction of identifying a person who may or may not be lying, it does not help all the time since body language can be adjusted or it could be mistaken for a different meaning. The treatment modalities tended to be designed with an emphasis on the needs of the male clientele with the female clientele being pushed through a one size fits all style treatment. This started to change in the 1980 s after the second wave of the women s movement occurred. Women began to question science s conclusions that pointed to a male oriented bias in research, hypothesis and design (Anderson, p 286). Once questioned and pushed, researchers of substance use began using what is known as the gender lens approach. The gender lens tool was created by Dr. Anna Day at the University of Toronto. She believed that all areas of health and health care are influenced by gender. The idea was based on the belief of how glasses correct our vision, so could a metaphorical gender lens correct our view on gender, allowing attention to be focused on specific fender differences and needs of medical care that do require more research. It was an approach that looked at both genders separately and compared their different outcomes based on the specified genders, not based on the total usage (Van Koughnett, The Gender Lens). The treatment modality for substance abuse used to be a one size fits all treatment that was geared toward the male population. Dr. Tammy Anderson

Children with a phonological disorder may experience a higher risk for reading and writing disabilities. If left unresolved, phonological disorders have long term consequences that may interfere with an individual s future social, academic, and vocational well being, largely resulting from persistent, reduced intelligibility of speech ( Phonological disorders in, 2013). Morphological awareness supports a variety of literacy skills, including word identification, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and spelling. Increased morphological awareness enables children to analyze the internal structure of words and decode them more quickly and accurately ( Morphological awareness: Implications, 2013). Aaron exhibited problems with his morphological awareness in various spots throughout the language sample. For example Aaron said And she felled in the thing , And the lady sawed her . In these two utterances Aaron has shown a failure to meet and use the correct past tense morphology. Through intervention the SLP can influence the use of and knowledge of phonology and morphology on word recognition and spelling, ultimately increasing one s morphological awareness. Syntax refers to the rules of word order and word combinations in order to

We heard of all the funky artist that would be there such as The Who, Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead. As we finally made it to the field after an unbearable fifty mile long backup of wheels.
