Racism, Sexism, and Sexuality Shown Through M. Butterfly...
Who is stronger? The East or the West? Do the Oriental people truly succumb to the threats of the
western white man? Based on the views of the non oriental people, the Oriental people secretly
want to get dominated by a stronger force, comparing them to a woman, or just simply calling their
race feminine. The show M. Butterfly by David Henry Hwangis able to express different issues
regarding the theory of Orientalism by hiding it amongst several conversations between characters.
The play can be seen as highly political because of topics it chooses to discuss despite the fact that
the lead character is a diplomat. Though somewhat unrelated; M. Butterfly can even have a certain
Brecht esque quality to it. Because it contains several... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Death with honor/ Is better than life/ Life with dishonor (17). Gallimard is translating for Song
in this passage. Song being Oriental, this line would be expected and wouldn t cause much of a
point, but when Gallimard states it again in the end of the play on page 68 and it causes much
more feeling out of the audience. Why is that? Gallimard is French and not Chinese. Those
kinds of words aren t stereotypical of a French man, which is normally not known as the
concerns of a Caucasian male, but rather an Oriental male. The aspects of Orientalism are not
solely focused on the West s views of the East, but can also be the other way around. Her mouth
says no, but her eyes say yes. The West thinks of itself as masculine big guns, big industry, big
money so the East is feminine weak, delicate, poor, but good at art, and full of inscrutable
wisdom the feminine mystique. Her mouth says no, but her eyes say yes. The West believes the
East, deep down, wants to be dominated because a woman can t think for herself (62). That
quote was said by Song after he officially reveals to the court that he was a man, but before he
officially revealed it to Gallimard. This quote is important because it gives an impression of what
the East sees the West as and what they realized they re thought of. Song compares himself to a
woman, despite the fact that he dressed as one for twenty years, because

The Black Panther Party For Self Defence
The Black Panther Party for Self Defence (BPP) was a group of revolutionary black nationalists
campaigning within one of the most provocative and dynamic political periods. The legacy of the
BPP is controversial, often being characterised as the most influential black movement
organisation of the late 1960s and the strongest link between the domestic Black Liberation
Struggle and global opponents of American Imperialism. However, contrasting views exist with
some other commentators depicting the Party as criminal rather than political stating images of
defiant posturing over substance. Through the examination of the histories of the BPP
considering their purpose, historical technique, type of history and the overall impact on the
image of the party, three different movements in the representation of this period occur. The first
works, including those accounts of Newton and Seale themselves, who were the co founders of
the party produced recounts focused on the individual experiences of the BPP and generally
portrayed a positive view of the party, praising their actions and contributing to the
characterisation of the party as a vanguard of late 1960s radicalism and as an organisation
hounded by the Oakland Police (OP) and FBI. The second wave of accounts including the 1994
publication of Hugh Pearson s history of the BPP emerged within the same period, in which a more
negative interpretation of the Party s decline was indicated and the faults of the party leader,

Sadism in the Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe
The tell tale Sadist:
Sadism and Masochism in The tell tale heart
Many of Poe s tales portray characters which intently harm other creatures or people and enjoy
the process of doing so. This tendency which Poe himself called the spirit of perverseness (Poe 10)
in The Black Cat is described as the need to cause pain to other being without any reason, evil per
se. However, from a psychological point of view, this spirit of perverseness would be labeled as
sadism and its source may be traced by making a deep analysis of the character s psyche. It will be
posed that the character participant narrator in the tell tale heart does not kill the old man as an act
of pure evilness or spirit of perverseness, but rather the source of his/her ... Show more content on

This does not mean that sadism is a common feature of men s sexual behaviour, it is a sexual
aberration but gender influences this tendency. Besides aggression, according to Lacan, is
represented through certain images for example castration, mutilation, devouring (Glowinsky,
2001) and it should be born in mind that the narrator mutilates his victim in order to hide it,
which provides extra evidence of the narrator s aggressiveness. In addition, a homosexual love for
the old man would create a greater conflict in the mind of the narrator and a greater difficulty to
fulfill his sexual desire in a normal way.
It can often be recognized that the masochism is nothing but a continuation of the sadism turning
against one s own person in which the latter at first takes the place of the sexual object. ( Freud,
1914)
Indeed, masochism seems to derive from the sadist drive. It is usually believed that victimizer
becomes victim given certain circumstances and this may provoke pleasure as well. In the
philosophy of composition, Poe unintentionally provides a good definition of masochism by talking
about the human thirst for self torture. Indicating the eagerness of men to feel displeasure or even
pain, this may be done in innocent ways (by suffering through fiction) or by remaining or looking
for situation that might be painful. In the tale tell heart, the murderer after having tormented the old

Financial Risks
The successful management of financial institutions (FIs) demands an understanding of the
relevant structures, operations, and the associated risks. In particular, the assessment of the risks is
necessary to make the appropriate steps to maintain the solvency of FIs (Saunders Cornett, 2007).
One of the steps involves the application of off balance sheet(OBS) activities. OBS refers to the
properties of the FI which are considered assets, but which do not feature in the balance sheets and
thus are not used in balancing the ledger (at most, they may appear at the bottom of the balance
sheet). OBSs are extremely useful since they often assist in leveraging the commercial banks in
times of crisis, especially when the financial markets are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The operations also include future contracts, structured in such a way so as to execute organized
exchanges that involve payment for assets at a later date (Saunder Cornett, 2016). Finally, the OBS
items include commitments, guarantees, and other derivative financial instruments that sometimes
serve as significant sources of revenue for the commercial banks (Papanikolaou Wolff, 2014).
Furthermore, an off balance sheet item can move onto the balance sheet after the agreed conditions
are met. For instance, when the accepted obligations are met by the parties involved in the
transaction, the OBS assets transform into the balance sheet assets, hence moved accordingly
(BuДЌkovГЎ, 2012). The future contracts are therefore terminated, valid from the moment when
the pre requisite conditions are met. In most cases, the OBS items are joined to the credit risks.
More importantly, the derivative instruments are introduced into the balance sheet in their real
values, but reflected in the OBS in their nominal values (BuДЌkovГЎ, 2012).
Finally, it is vital to assess the risk of the particular OBS item before implementing it. Nevertheless,
an accurate evaluation of any OBS activity and its risk implications is an extremely difficult
process since every separate OBS item possesses complex contingent claim

Examples Of Colonialism In A Passage To India
In A Passage to India, the colonialists are definitely the stronger race and have authority over the
locals. This authority gives them power which they use against the inferior race, the Indians
(Boehmer 1995: 10). The Indians are considered weak, outcast, and second rate. They are believed
to be different from Europeans, especially the English. Even though the British might have their
own different categories like social class and religions, they are united as opposed to the local
natives (Boehmer 1995: 67). There is very little social integration between the colonialists and the
Indians. Yet there are incidents in the novel that show that the Indians are more sophisticated than
the colonialists. Forster had spent a long time in Indiabefore... Show more content on

They are not to blame, they have not a dog s chance we should be like them if we settled here
(Forster 1979: 176). Mr Turton states that he has never known anything but disaster result when
English people and Indians attempt to be intimate socially (Forster 1979: 182). Contact, in his
opinion, would be allowed, as well as courtesy, but intimacy should not be allowed. Such intimacy
is only negative. Only mutual respect and esteem can enable them to socialize with each other.
The British feel that it vital for them to stick to the unwritten rules on how they behave towards the
locals. These unwritten rules, which the locals are bound to follow in their relations with the
colonialists, safeguard the interests of the British, making them the white superiors. Any

Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Essay
Fried Pataters
Mr. Hahn
Phil 2310
10 May 2010
Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Aristotle and Rita Manning both have different theories when it
comes to ethics. Aristotle uses virtue ethics to answer questions about morality whereas Manning
uses what is called ethics of caring to do the same thing. Virtue ethics claims people s actions aim
towards the highest good of happiness. From happiness, moral virtue stems from reasons
governing the desires of the soul. Manning on the other hand believes that moral actions extend
from people caring for one another on a personal level. By developing the ability to care for
others, people become morally aware of how to act in certain situations. When the question of: how
ought I live my life? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then there are the two extreme ends of the states of character which is superhuman virtue and
brutishness. Superhuman virtue is displaying virtuous character in every case including
extreme situations. On the opposite end, brutishness is absent of reason and the desires are so
morbidly wrong that the actions are morbidly wrong as a result. Aristotle feels people should
strive for the superhuman virtue state, yet because being superhumanly virtuous is incredibly
difficult, being virtuous or continent is seen as good as well. Rita Manning s approach to ethics
is referred to as ethics of caring. She claims that ethics of caring has two elements, the first being
disposition to care. Disposition to care is a willingness to receive others, a willingness to give
the lucid attention required to appropriately fill the needs of others (Manning 477). The
disposition deals with a commitment to caring for the needs of others. Manning claims that
humans are obligated to care for not only the needs of others, but also what is required for the
needs of others. A great example is sending beef to India after a natural disaster. By sending
provisions, people are showing they care but they fail to realize that Hindu people do not eat beef.
Instead, people should learn more about the people they are helping so that they can send
provisions that will do the most good. Manning states that we need to be aware of the individual
needs of certain people in

From its recognizable golden arched M to its top brand ambassador, Ronald McDonald, McDonald

successful strategic management firms in its industry. One of the best strategic moves was taking

Ray Kroc built a successful business by knowing how the importance of cost, cycle time, and

Six sigma aims to reduce and hopefully eliminate this customer dissatisfaction by giving the
customer the power to place their own orders, in return having the fewer unsatisfied customer.
With respect to the utilizing six sigma metrics, McDonald s also followed a framework of five
core rules. Per the article McDonald s Suppliers are vested for Success, these five rules included:
1. Focus on outcomes, not transactions 2. Focus on the what, not the how 3. Agree on clearly
defined and measurable outcomes 4. Pricing Model/Incentives for Cost/Service trade offs 5.

Han Dynasty Research Paper
During the long era of Chinese Dynasties, three School of Thoughts emerged as philosophers
spread their knowledge across the empires. Although each of the three philosophers that founded
these School of Thoughts were able to alter the ways of the people s beliefs, one in particular had
ideals that over time, were powerful enough to change the ways of the Chinese culture, and
eventually the world. Confucius, the founder of Confucianism, focused on spreading his political
and ethical views based on how humans should act in harmony with the universe ( World History
91), and the effect of this would allow their society to blossom. As word of the practice of
Confucianism spread, the Chinese empires began to adapt to new changes that this school of

One of the most prosperous periods took place during the reign of the Han dynasty. The Confucius
philosophy was widely accepted and practiced throughout the empire. One of the major factors in
the spread of practice for this School of Thought was the introduction of the civil service exams.
The Han inserted these exams into their societies to extend the knowledge of Confucian
philosophies. In order to earn an important role in the government under the Han Dynasty, one must
have a great understanding of this philosophy, and have passed the exam. This created a new basis
of education in the empire, and led to modernization. The civil service exams existed in China until
the 20th century, adding up to over two thousand years. Although the new guidelines had a positive
effect in the education system and government, it caused them to look down on other cultures, and
made them unwilling to westernize their ideals, and cultures. Ethnocentrism clouded the empire,
and paused modernization. Unfortunately this would affect them later on, in the

The United States And Soviet Union Essay
The 1980 s were a dynamic time in the life cycle of the Cold War. The early portion of this decade,
which saw massive shifts in the administrations of the United States and Soviet Union, maintained
an atmosphere of suspicion, wariness, and skepticism. This theme of uncertainty and caution was
the logical product of decades of both American and Soviet duplicity, confrontation, and
militarization. Yet, despite this mistrust between the polar Cold War
belligerents, and contrary to the
early rhetoric of the Reagan administration, the United States and Soviet Union modified their
perceptions of each other s intentions following 1985 s Reykjavik Summit, which, despite
producing no tangible results, established common desire for arms reduction and a conclusion of
the Cold War. This warming of relations, however, increased at a gradual rate and encountered
significant hurdles as the two nations attempted to limit the potential for thermonuclear war.
Ultimately, Ronald Reaganand Mikhail Gorbachevs dialogue of the eyes transitioned from one
administration to the next, while also weathering significant domestic pressures as the United
Soviet Socialist Republic disintegrated.
Doubt and insecurity largely characterized the Cold War in the late 1970s and early stages of the
Reagan presidency. Following the rise and fall of dГ©tente, the collapse of the Nixon
administration, and the expansion of alarmist groups such as the Committee on the Present Danger,

The Theory Of Psychology And Personality Development
Personality Report
There are many theorists that have made psychology incredible, and have paved the way for what
we believe psychology to consist of today. Some important theorists that I believe have made a
huge contribution are Sigmund Freud, Karen Horney, and Dollard and Miller. These theorists have
all had their own view on personality development, and I believe that these ideas have shaped the
way in which we view psychology today. The many interpretations of conflict, psychotherapy, and
cultural and biological aspects of personality have shaped their views and differences as well.
Sigmund Freud, known as the father of psychology, developed some of the first theories of
modern psychology. One of his well known theories is the structural model of the psyche.
According to Freud, most of what drives individuals is buried in the unconscious mind. There
are three main forces that drive humans, which include the id, the ego, and the super ego. The
id is the summation of basic personal needs and desires. It is completely self centered, and has
no care for sensibility or reality. It strives for what it wants, when it wants it with no other
considerations. The second part of the personality is the ego. The ego is the realization of reality.
It is the ego s job to, in a sense, counteract the selfishness and impractically if the id. The third
part, the super ego, is morals and acquired beliefs of right and wrong. According to Freud, in order
to have a healthy personality, one s

Social Media And Substance Abuse
Social media is used widely by many across the nation, it is very prevalent in the lives of today s
college student and young adults to connect with friends attending different institutions or even
friends sitting just across the room. In a generation where technology is so heavily relied on and
even addicting to some, we have seen an increase of addictive behaviors. Does the overuse of
technology contribute to the rising alcoholand drug addictions as well as mental health issues? In

The frontal lobe of the brain helps individuals determine consequences from current actions, and it
also helps determine what is good or bad behavior. The development of the brain is lengthy and
reaches well into adulthood. This lengthy development explains the adolescents urges to seek out
new potentially dangerous situations and act impulsively.
Children have beliefs about alcohol, those beliefs are usually established by school age. School
age children generally believe alcohol is bad and understand the adverse effects of alcohol
however adolescents beliefs shift to a more positive view and adolescents who drink will express
the positive euphoric effects of alcohol.
Environmental factors also play a very large role in likeliness that adolescents will use alcohol.
Adolescents with parents and peers that use alcohol are more likely to view the use as acceptable.

The Pros And Cons Of Lead And Acid Battery
The lead/acid battery has been in common use in automobiles since 1915 or so. It has plates of
lead in sulphuric acid solution in water. One of the sets of lead plates is coated with lead dioxide.
As such a battery discharges it creates two chemical reactions, one at the anode that ends up with an
excess of electrons, and one at the cathode that ends up short electrons.
Fuel combustion is the process of where fuel is burnt that releases heat and light which is an
exothermic reaction meaning it releases heat. The fuel is a hydrocarbon, which reacts with oxygen
to release energy however a small amount of heat energy is needed to start fuel combustion. The
products to the reaction are carbon dioxide and water.

The positive side to fuel combustion is that complete combustion (taking place where there is
enough air) releases carbon dioxide instead of carbon monoxide (which is harmful) is produced.
As it may seem as a positive aspect it still can be negative too much can cause environmental issues

As for car batteries the energy density is twice of standard nickel cadmium. This means battery

My Experience At The United States Congress
Guide to Comp I
John Beckley, the first librarian of the United States Congress, once said, Most people don t plan
to fail; they fail to plan. I have found this to be true in many areas of life, including my college
classes. Having almost completed my first semester of Composition I, I have realized that college
presents a new arena of life, and therefore demands thoughtful planning, planning made necessary
by new found freedom. Freedom is a relative term in college; it is experienced in and out of the
classroom, in both creativity and time management. With new found freedoms that college brings,
comes heightened responsibility to prioritize and plan for classroom success. I will share
specifically about my experience in Composition I.
Since success begins with planning, I ll start there. In my previous English classes, teachers
encouraged my ability to create thoughtful essays, and focused more on the elements of voice and
less on the structure of writing. This encouragement allowed my perception of my writing ability
to be inflated as I entered college. Perhaps you too see yourself as a good writer. Don t let this
perception keep you from embracing the opportunity to increase your writing ability. The fallacy
of my perception that I had already arrived as a writer was brought home when I received a fifty
nine on my second essay! Following my normal writing process, I began writing every good idea
that presented itself without any forethought to planning or

The Factors That Shaped the Elizabethan Religious...
The Factors That Shaped the Elizabethan Religious Settlement When Elizabeth I was proclaimed
Queen in 1558 a new era of religious tolerance began. With her religious settlement, Elizabeth had to
consider a number of different factors. Without doubt, the most important task following her
accession was to resolve the ideological divisions in the country brought about by the religious
changes in the past three monarch s reigns. However, when deciding on her own religious
settlement, Elizabeth had a number of influencing factors. She had grown up as a committed and
conventionally pious Protestant and these views obviously effected the way she ran her household
and country, and consequently... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haigh claims that there can be little doubt of Elizabeth s personal Protestantism and historians
such as Pollard, who claimed that she was indifferent to religion have been largely disregarded.
This is likely to be attributed to the strong influence of family, and the education she received
from humanists William Grindal and Roger Ascham. It has been argued that she wished to return
England to the state in which her father left it Catholicism without the Pope. It is clear that her
brother, Edward VI, also heavily influenced her, as the final religious settlement was in fact very
similar to his doctrinal Reformation. However, her personal beliefs are more diverse, and cannot
be attributed to so few influences. Her belief in private devotion can be illustrated by the fact that
she did not want to make windows into men s hearts. It can therefore be argued that Elizabeth was
not as radical as some Protestants of the time, for example the returning exiles. Even before exile
had faced them some had become influenced by Calvinism, the most extreme of Protestant faiths.
Although Elizabeth respected these views, she did not totally conform to them, but just believed in
certain aspects. For example she did not practice transubstantiation. However, her more conservative
ideas are evident in the final settlement as the extra sentence is added which leaves the right

Rape Fantasies Analysis
In Margaret Atwood s Rape Fantasies, the narrator Estelle describes her rape fantasies in which is
never assaulted. Initiated by a conversation with her coworkers about their controversial daydreams,
Estelle recounts her own reoccurring visions, though hers differ from those discussed between the
women. Throughout the piece, Atwood utilizes stream of conscious writing to show her narrator s
jumbled thoughts as she describes her fantasies. Atwood s short story depicts a narrator
inexperienced in courtship and meeting men, as Estelle s honest and seemingly endless stream of
thoughts highlight her critical view of women she knows well and explain daydreams in which she
meets and (hopes to) build relationships with unfamiliar men. As a whole, Atwood s use of longer
sentences and stream of consciousnessemphasize the narrator s disorganized and honest opinions.
Within the first few pages, the narrator voices her inner, cynical thoughts about her female
colleagues. She describes Chrissy the receptionist as being [v]arnished and like she s been
painted over with nail polish (Atwood 1). When Greta, a coworker, makes a comment about
another s concern for being out late at night, Estelle reveals, [Greta] worked in Detroit for three

Eric Foner Reconstruction Summary
Eric Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction begins with a short historiography overviewing how
historians views of reconstruction has changed. He does this by introducing the first understanding
of reconstruction, and then moves to different schools of thought that progressed through time until
the latest interpretation today. The first understanding of reconstruction, in which the Dunning
School had the largest influence, pushed the idea that the South gracefully accepted their defeat,
and just wanted to rejoin the Union and govern again. Under this school, white southerners wanted
freedmen to succeed, and were ready to be cooperative. However, against Abraham Lincolnand

Progressives had a very unfavorable view of reconstruction. The progressives believed that Johnson
was a victim of the radical republicans, who painted themselves with the moral high ground, but
only favored black suffrage and rights as a way to control the South politically and economically.
Foner then provides some survivors and black historians, like W.E.B. Du Bois, that dissented from
the previous rendering of reconstruction. Reconstruction, for these historians, was an idealistic
effort to transition the country from slavery to a racial harmony. These writers also paint freedmen
as real changemakers in reconstruction, not just people affected by white policy. Foner then writes
of the revisionists who drew from these dissenters, and from new scholarship and evidence. Foner
also notes that this revisionary spirit could come from a change in racial attitudes, associated with
the modern civil rights movements. The revisionists go against the thought of Johnson as a victim,
and instead clear the stigma associated with the radicals who had gotten him impeached. They write
that the reconstruction legislation was not forced through by radials, and instead had public and
congressional support. They also try to erase the belief that the South was a victim, and instead
wrote of the services that the republicans brought to the South, like public schools, equal
citizenship, and the rebuilding of the southern economy and reassociates corruption with the South,

When Billy Collins wrote The Names America was enamored by tragedy. Speaking of tragedy,
the pain in his poem is shockingly detailed among few lines. The presentation of his captivating
words, paints pictures in the minds of his readers. At least it did for me as I read this piece of his

Onna Daigaku Women
Women during the Tokugawa period were expected to be good Confucian wives and were
restricted in many aspects of their life. Although multiple expectations were bent in real life
situations. In Onna Daigaku, Kaibara Ekiken writes on how a woman should and should not act in
public. He also writes several different reasons why a womanshould be divorced. This primary
source is important in understanding what was expected out of women during this period and
helps us apply it to other readings. An example of how one can apply the Onna Daigaku to The
Doctor s Wife is the way Otsugi acts repeatedly throughout the book. The Onna Daigaku states
The five worst infirmities that afflict the female are indocility, discontent, slander, jealously, and
silliness. One of the bigger issues that Otsugi has in becoming a good Confucian wife is that she
bears a lot of jealousy and discontent with her daughter in law Kae. At first, Otsugi was pleasant
towards Kae and even stated how the two must have been mother and daughter in a past life; but
once Seishu comes back from Kyoto, Otsugi becomes very critical of Kae and does not allow the
daughter in law near her precious son. Also, the reader gets an underlying sexual vibe from Otsugi

The Struggle Against the Apartheid State of South Africa...
Mandela s childhood was very important in shaping him to be the man he was. His father losing
his land in 1919 would have affected Mandela s opinion of how the country works as he grew
up, and when he was 16 the main speaker at his circumcision told that Blacks were slaves in their
own country . He grew up with the opinion that his country needed a better rule, because of how
unfair it was to Black people. His earliest decisions to fight for Black liberation were made here.
Another turning point was when Chief Jongintaba died in 1942. He then stayed in Johannesburg

Q2. Explain the part played by external pressure in the fight against apartheid and minority rule in
South Africa.
From 1960 onwards, when Harold Macmillan made his change of winds speech, the world started
to place external pressures on South Africa, and this was one of the main causes of the end of
apartheid. Economic sanctions and sporting isolation were the two main subdivisions of external
pressure.
Sporting isolation made South Africa realise that the minority rule and the apartheid regime was
greatly frowned upon by the rest of the world, and caused many Afrikaners to change their attitude
to the way the country was being run; this was because they didn t want to be excluded from the
rest of the world s competitions and tournaments solely for their governments issues; it made the
Afrikaners feel guilty for the regime ruling South Africa. This attitude would eventually help in
ending the apartheid regime.
Economic sanctions, however, were much more effective in the ending of minority rule. Foreign
countries saw South Africa as a risky country to invest in because the sanctions against South Africa
withdrew loans in businesses; businessmen found it harder to have prosperous companies

Leadership Position
Why are you interested in being an educator? More specifically, why are you interested in teaching
at IDEA Public Schools?
I am interested in becoming an educator for IDEA Public School because I see the potential to
grow. I have heard nothing but great things about their school and I am anxiously waiting to
become part of their team. Their track record of success, college acceptance, and college
graduation rate is absolutely remarkable. I take great pride in my education and feel that through my
experiences I can contribute to student s education and success.
Leadership Position? Your role, How many people, what did they set out to do? What results, How
did you do it?
A leadership position is something I have done since I started to teach. My role as a teacher has
been to guide the students, educate them, and help them establish the connection between what is
learned in the classroom and how it is applied in the real world. My classroom is filled with

Tombstone Movie Analysis
What goes through your mind as you are observing a film? Do you notice the way the camera
angles play with your mind and make you wonder? Or do you spot the way the lighting
techniques help to communicate the story? Maybe you hear the score or the dialogue and
witness the sense tingling notes and words that make you guess what is going to happen next.
Whatever it may be, films are amazing works of art that stimulate emotions and help you
experience the story in a deeper way. I had the opportunity to view the movie Tombstone and pay
closer attention to the details that make the film what it is. Tombstone is a western film about a
lawman named Wyatt Earp (portrayed by Kurt Russel) who is the protagonist in the story, along
with his two brothers Virgil Earp (Sam Elliot) and Morgan Earp (Bill Paxton). With his brothers,
Wyatt also has a trusty sidekick by the name of Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer) and they are feuding
with the ruthless rebels of the time, known as the cowboys. The leader of the cowboy gang is an
outlaw named Curly Bill Brocius (Powers Boothe) and he has a right hand man who might be even
crazier and bloodthirsty who goes by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Types Of The Organisational Structure Of RSPCA
Organisational structure of RSPCA
The organisational structure that the charity RSPCA has is a flat structure which between
management and the worker level employees has few or no levels of management. This type of
business structure displays the workers with the higher levels of authority and control on the higher
levels. Then the workers with the least control and authority are on the lower levels of the flat
organisational structure. The RSPCA using a flat organisational structure has managementlevels of
a few or one. Meaning a Chain of Command from top to bottom will be short while the span of
control is wide . The span of control means where the managers are responsible for a certain
number of workers each at RSPCA.
The store I will be focusing on is the Rowley Regis store to explain the flat structure for the
RSPCA. The is a diagram of the flat structure below: This image shows the base level to be the
workers who have the lowest level of authority and control in the RSPCA. The second level are the
managers who have a span of control of seven subordinates between the two managers. The highest
level is the director of the RSPCA who has the most control and authority out of everyone else,
according to the image of the flat organisational structure.
An advantage of the RSPCA being part of a flat structure is that for the managers and workers
there is a great communication. This is an advantage because of their only being a few levels of
communication for example,

Tiger Sharks Research Paper
What do Sharks eat?
Introduction
Sharks consume prey to live; similar to all living organisms, food is needed for survival. Sharks
are found in waters all over the world and they come in a variety shapes and sizes. Some sharks
are as small as a human hand and some sharks can be the size of a small to medium boat. The size,
environment, and characteristics of the shark, will dictate what food the shark prefers. Generally,
people think sharks will eat anything that it comes into contact with, but that is not the case. As a
rule, humans are not a food source for sharks, although it is hard to comprehend due to the amount
of shark attacks. In reality, sharks kill a considerable amount less humans than humans kill sharks.

Maybe the most ideal candidate in my humble opinion I believe is Oklahoma State s offensive
coordinator Mike Yurcich. To me, Yurcich checks ALL the boxes we need in a new head coach
at this point in time, as we sit with a record at 1 9 with zero PAC 12 wins in 2017. Like the other
coaching candidates, Yurcich has one obvious flaw that I m sure Beaver nation has questions
about. Like Les Miles, Yurcich has no real ties to the West coast. However, I hope to explain why I
believe Yurcich could turn another orange and black OSU into one of the most explosive offenses
in the country.
Yurcich, 41, a native of Euclid, Ohio, attended California University in Pennsylvania about 36 miles

Hindered Bed Separator with Cross Flow
Chapter 1 In Plant Testing of CrossFlow Separator in Coal Industry 1.1Introduction 1.1.1General
The mineral processing industry has commonly utilized hydraulic separators throughout history for
classification and gravity concentration of various minerals. More commonly referred to as
hindered bed or fluidized bed separators, these units make use of differential particle settling rates
to segregate particles according to shape, size, and/or density. Conventional hindered bed separators
are inherently inefficient due to wide variations in the solids content and size distribution of the
feed, which have an adverse effect of plant performance and operating costs. The traditional design
consists of an open top vessel into which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The throughput capacity of existing hydraulic separators is limited by this introduction of water
through the feed distribution pipe in the separation chamber and the excessive elutriation water
added to the system. As previously mentioned, part of this problem was alleviated through the
tangential feed distribution designed for the CrossFlow separator. A redesign of the elutriation
water distribution, through use of a slotted plate at the base of the separation chamber, has
minimized the amount of water used by allowing the water to better disperse through the separator.
Larger diameter holes spread farther apart (6 inches versus 0.5 inches) allows for the water to be
introduced into the chamber, and the baffle plate disperses the water throughout the chamber. This
ultimately reduces the amount of overall elutriation water required, and increasing the throughput
capacity of the separator. The improved distribution of elutriation water also minimizes dead zones
within the separation chamber that were often caused by plugging of the small diameter holes in
the lateral pipes at the bottom of the separation chamber. By increasing the diameter of the holes
and adding the baffle plate to fully distribute the water, separation efficiency has increased due to
full utilization of the separation chamber. The increase in separation efficiency and throughput
capacity reduces the operating

Human Trafficking In East Asia
Human trafficking is a global problem in which globalization have had an important role. There are
many forms of trafficking in persons such as sexual exploitation the most known form , forced
labor, organ harvesting, etc. Its annual profit exceeds of 39 billion dollars, making it the third
largest international crime industry, only behind illegal drugs, and arms trafficking.
Traffickers use coercion, deception, or abduction to get their victims. They take advantage of the
vulnerability of children, woman, and men who live in poverty or are looking for more favorable
opportunities and lured them into leaving their home and travelling to what they assume will be a
better life, just to realize later it s not.

Immigrants are particularly vulnerable on forced labor, the demand of cheap labor contributes to

Before Signing a Lease
It s wise to be aware of your rights as a renter, and these can vary between locations. Typically,

signing the lease or moving in.
Tips
Never pour fat, oil, or grease down the drain, or into the garbage disposal. In addition, insert
strainers into drains to help prevent clogs. Practicing preventative measures now will reduce
problems later with the rental s plumbing in Arlington. Purchase a toilet plunger for the occasional
clog, and provide one for each bathroom.
Prevent Frozen Pipes
If the rental features an outdoor faucet, remember to insulate it before cold weather arrives to
prevent a frozen, or burst pipe. Ask the landlord if other pipes are vulnerable to freezing.
Uninsulated walls in older homes can lead to frozen pipes on exterior walls. During extreme cold,
leaving the cabinet doors open under sinks can prevent frozen pipes in the home s plumbing in

But unfortunately many national parks and memorials had to be shut down because without
funding there was no way to cover the costs to stay open. This caused problems with many
veterans who wished to enter the war memorials. This even led to a riot and a break in at a
World War 2 Memorial. Many federal workers were furloughed which basically means that they
were let off temporarily till the government started back up. So large sums of workers were
given a vacation, but if the government had been shut down longer, this could have become a
very pressing issue. After the shutdown some research was done to see just which states where hit
the hardest. According to NBC Washington Virginia was the state that had the hardest impact
from the shutdown. Many of Virginias mortgage loans, on real estate, where backed up with
federal funds causing many houses to foreclose. Virginia was also pushed to the top of the list by
being the second largest state that houses the most veterans. All of this shows that the people in
Virginia where impacted the worst from the shutdown. The biggest problem that still seems to be
a very significant issue that the politicians like to toy with is the damn debt ceiling. Instead of
treating the debt ceiling for what it is, a limit that should never be exceeded, our politicians decide
to raise it whenever the debt gets closer. China isn t impressed. This is an issue that will only spark
further shutdowns and should be our highest priority.

The Nonhuman World Exhibits Beauty Of Its Own And That Humans
Looking over the vast expanses of the American landscape, staring up into a starry sky, or watching
spring return and animals rear their young, one cannot help but see beauty in nature. Some people
find beauty even in the smallest of creatures and things. The earth is full of wonder. At the same
time, driving across certain places, where humans have scarred the landscape, ugliness appears. The
marred landscapes in which humans have clear cut a forest, obliterated a mountain, or dumped
waste can destroy the natural beauty that natureonce exhibited. In this paper I will argue that the
nonhuman world exhibits beauty of its own and that humans can either enhance or deface this
beauty.
Defining what makes something beautiful is a huge endeavor. Philosophers have argued for
centuries over the simple question, What is beauty? This is a question that is probably
unanswerable. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and based on personal experiences and varies
from person to person; it is subjective. We call a variety of things beautiful : a landscape; various
nonhuman animals; a young woman; a painting; a symphony. We may even say that an action,
such as a gazelle leaping across a field or a well executed sports play, is beautiful. Even if we
cannot define exactly what beauty is as a quality in something or a quality within the beholder,
everyone somehow believes that some things are beautiful in some way.
We often use this variable description for the nonhuman world. When we look

Stereotypes Of Women In The Work Force
During the first half of the 19th century, only few women worked. The majority of paid labour
for women was service work. Census records and newspaper advertisements from this period
show women worked as midwives, gardeners, washerwomen, dressmakers and on occasion,
innkeepers (Byrne, 2015). In addition to the small amount of work available, women also had to
attend to domestic duties at home. Cooking meals and cleaning was a constant and primary
responsibility. Subsequently, cooking was only a small part of women s work. With money so
scarce, families had to be resourceful with all the materials they had. Most women were skilled at

What I Learned From Your Book

Dear Professor Csikszentmihalyi,
This letter is talking about what I learned from your book, my flow experiences and what are
elements of flow in my opinion. But before that I would like to share a old Chinese fairy tale
with you. 1800 years ago in Jin dynasty of China, there was a farmer who s name is Wangzhi.
One day he went out to cut firewood in hills, he saw there are an old man and a child playing the
GO (a Chinese game) in pavilion. So he left his axe on a stump and watched them playing. He
was so focus on the game that he totally forgot the time. After a long time, the child told him that
as it is so late you had better go home. Then Wangzhi pick up his axe and start to go home. He
was so surprised that his axe handle was rotted and mold. When he backed home his neighbor
told him he had already went out more than 10 years. Of cause fairy tales are not always true
story and also may sound like an exaggeration. But in this fairy tale we can know that Chinese
people realize that people have flow experience hundreds years ago.
In this semester we have been discussing about Optimal Experience and what is Flow and how to
achieve it in class. I learned that you named the psychological concept of flow, a highly focused

mmHg and DBP 90 mmHg. The goal for patients under 60 is 140 mmHg and DBP 90 mmHg.
Different goal values are presented for patients with chronic conditions. Treatment with medication
is categorized by: general population nonblack, general population black, chronic conditions
black, and chronic condition all races. Based on the algorithm black patients should only be
prescribed thiazide type diuretics and/or calcium channel blockers. While non black patients can
take all of the medications listed in JNC 8 (thiazide type diuretics, ACEI, ARB, and/or CCB). If
patient does not reach goal blood pressure then three strategies are listed, along with lifestyle
adherence. The algorithm also explains not to use ACEI and ARB together. The final option for
patients not at goal blood pressure includes additional medications and/or referral to physician with
an expertise in hypertension

Not For Profit Financial Statement
Abstract
Not For Profit financial statement preparers might experience dramatic changes in practice as a
result of new standards which proposed on April 22, 2015. Before that time, the FASB has
endeavored to eliminate differences in reporting between Not For Profits and business
enterprises. In this new model that uses a different approach to presenting financial information,
a key target is to make a consistency to all NFPs. For examples, NFPs within the proposal s
range would be required to demonstrate standardized operating measures. In addition, for the
statement of cash flows, it asked to use the direct method to show it. Other proposed changes are
designed to make it simplified and clarify the reporting of classes of net assets in the statement of
financial position. For instance, expand disclosures related to the expense and liquidity. In the
following sections, I will list the updated changes and compare the differences between the old
version and the new one. By contrasting the old and the new, we could get to know how should we
put the new regulation into use.
Key words
Accounting Standards Update(ASU) Operating Activities New Dimensions
Statement of Cash Flow
Introduction
The accounting and reporting guidance for Not for profit entities has remained almost the same for
more than 20 years. At that time before April 2015, stakeholders and outside users have expressed
worries and concerns regarding the complexities and

Essay Mt. Rainier
Mt. Rainier
The first time I saw Mt. Rainier for myself, was last summer when my boyfriend and I drove to
Washington. It was the most beautiful, peaceful looking mountain I have ever seen. However,
underneath it s great beauty, it hides a deadly secret. Mt. Rainier is one of the most dangerous
volcanoes that we have here in the United States. One of the reasons it is so dangerous is because
of it s great beauty. People enjoy looking at it, and the area that surrounds it, so they have made
their homes here. Mt Rainier is not the only volcano I am interested in, in fact this last summer I
also went to Mt. St. Helens and Crater Lake. But it is the volcano I chose to research for this paper
because it does have so much beauty and at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, I set out to find out what information there was about volcanoes, and if there was anyone out
there who wanted to discuss them with me.
To begin my search I went to my favorite search engine, Yahoo.com. I have always found that
this engine is the easiest to use, and gives you the best information. At first, I researched all
volcanoes, not just Mt. Rainier. There was so much information out there that I found it
difficult to narrow it down to just 10 for my annotated bibliography. I was able to spend hours on
the computer exploring the various sites and finding out new information. From most of the
sites I went to I was able to link to other sites that had to do with the same subject. I found this to
be very useful in doing my research. Not only did I find information about volcanoes and how
they work, I found places where I could buy volcano merchandise, watch real time videos of
eruptions, and look at volcano cams from around the world. I learned so much about all kinds of
volcanoes from my research, but when it came down to answering the questions that I had asked,
there were two web sites that I found were the most useful, The US Geological Societies Cascades
Volcano Observatory, and Volcanoes Online. These two I found to be the most useful in my
research.
Mount Rainier is located in Washington, and it basically dominates the landscape of a large part of
western Washington. The mountain is 4,329 meters, and it is what

According to Sohail, Roy, Saeed and Ahmed,2007; Kwortnik , 2005) researchers generally agree
that service quality is not a uni dimensional assemble that reflects whether a firm s customer
service is superb or meagre. Instead service quality symbolizes a combination of factors that
determine customers perceptions about the offering. Service quality is not objectively measured
according to some technical standards but is subjectively felt by customers and measured relative
to customer determined standards. Thus, service quality is the gap between perceived service
delivered and expected service.
As a result, service quality is defined similarly, as a comparative function between consumer
expectations and actual service performance (Iacobucci and Ostrom, 1995; Parasuraman et al.,1985)
Because of economic improvements, a long term and commonly advantageous relationship between
the customer and the hotel is becoming progressively more important. Companies with satisfied
consumers benefit from higher margins and consequently greater profits than do businesses that fail
to maintain and satisfy their consumers This fact has conducted hotels to invest in new ways to
improve service quality and the perceived value that hopefully will lead to better customer
satisfaction and loyalty, and thus establish a better relationship quality with each customer.
(Jones, Mak and Sim, 2007; Barsky and Nash, 2003).
Knowing what represented service quality,

Alternatives Of Alternative Fuels For Gasoline
Alternative Fuel Studies show that there is an increasing interest in alternative fuels for use in
vehicles (cars and trucks). Most substitute energies are sourced from reusable products. Some of
these alternative fuel products are produced domestically, and this reduces the United States
dependence on imported fuel (Norman, 2007). The augmenting attention in substitute energies is
motivated by numerous factors. To begin with, substitute energies result to reduced vehicle
emissions; such emissions produced in the conformist vestige energy result to orangery gases and
haze. These effluent products have led to global concerns since they accelerate global warming and
increasing air pollution. Purpose Statement The purpose of this... Show more content on

Methanol, frequently termed as wood energy is consumed as substitute energy. Such supple
energy automobiles can utilize M85 type of methanol. This is a blend of eighty five out of a
hundred of methanol and about fifteen out of a hundred petrol. The other substitute energy is
biofuel, which is based on vegetable oils or animal fats. It may also be produced from recycled
oils from restaurants after being used for cooking. This calls for engine conversion so that they
can burn biodiesel in its pure state (Adrian, 2007). Biodiesel can be blended with petrol diesel
and get utilized in original locomotives. It is decomposable, and decreases contaminants (
particulate substance, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons ) associated with the use of fossil fuels
in vehicles. Propane can also be used as substitute energy and it is a byproduct of natural gas. It is
more consumed as energy for cooking and heating and it automobiles it produces fewer emissions
than gasoline. Another substitute energy is hydrogen which is mixed with natural gas to create
substitute energy for vehicles designed with interior incineration locomotive capacities. Energy cell
vehicles, which ride on electrical energy resulting from petrochemical reaction due to fusion
hydrogen and oxygen in the fuel stack, is an excellent example of hydrogen powered vehicle
(Clean Cities, 2008). The

Song being Oriental, this line would be expected and wouldn t cause much of a point, but when Gallimard states it again in the end of the play on page 68 and it causes much more feeling out of the audience. Why is that? Gallimard is French and not Chinese. Those kinds of words aren t stereotypical of a French man, which is normally not known as the concerns of a Caucasian male, but rather an Oriental male. The aspects of Orientalism are not solely focused on the West s views of the East, but can also be the other way around. Her mouth says no, but her eyes say yes. The West thinks of itself as masculine big guns, big industry, big money so the East is feminine weak, delicate, poor, but good at art, and full of inscrutable wisdom the feminine mystique. Her mouth says no, but her eyes say yes. The West believes the East, deep down, wants to be dominated because a woman can t think for herself (62). That quote was said by Song after he officially reveals to the court that he was a man, but before he officially revealed it to Gallimard. • 3. The Black Panther Party For Self Defence The Black Panther Party for Self Defence (BPP) was a group of revolutionary black nationalists campaigning within one of the most provocative and dynamic political periods. The legacy of the BPP is controversial, often being characterised as the most influential black movement organisation of the late 1960s and the strongest link between the domestic Black Liberation Struggle and global opponents of American Imperialism. However, contrasting views exist with some other commentators depicting the Party as criminal rather than political stating images of defiant posturing over substance. Through the examination of the histories of the BPP considering their purpose, historical technique, type of history and the overall impact on the image of the party, three different movements in the representation of this period occur. The first works, including those accounts of Newton and Seale themselves, who were the co founders of the party produced recounts focused on the individual experiences of the BPP and generally portrayed a positive view of the party, praising their actions and contributing to the characterisation of the party as a vanguard of late 1960s radicalism and as an organisation hounded by the Oakland Police (OP) and FBI. Sadism in the Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe The tell tale Sadist: Sadism and Masochism in The tell tale heart Many of Poe s tales portray characters which intently harm other creatures or people and enjoy the process of doing so. This tendency which Poe himself called the spirit of perverseness (Poe 10) in The Black Cat is described as the need to cause pain to other being without any reason, evil per se. However, from a psychological point of view, this spirit of perverseness would be labeled as sadism and its source may be traced by making a deep analysis of the character s psyche. Besides aggression, according to Lacan, is represented through certain images for example castration, mutilation, devouring (Glowinsky, 2001) and it should be born in mind that the narrator mutilates his victim in order to hide it, which provides extra evidence of the narrator s aggressiveness. In addition, a homosexual love for the old man would create a greater conflict in the mind of the narrator and a greater difficulty to fulfill his sexual desire in a normal way. It can often be recognized that the masochism is nothing but a continuation of the sadism turning against one s own person in which the latter at first takes the place of the sexual object. ( Freud, 1914) Indeed, masochism seems to derive from the sadist drive. It is usually believed that victimizer becomes victim given certain circumstances and this may provoke pleasure as well. In the philosophy of composition, Poe unintentionally provides a good definition of masochism by talking about the human thirst for self torture. Indicating the eagerness of men to feel displeasure or even pain, this may be done in innocent ways (by suffering through fiction) or by remaining or looking for situation that might be painful. In particular, the assessment of the risks is necessary to make the appropriate steps to maintain the solvency of FIs (Saunders Cornett, 2007). One of the steps involves the application of off balance sheet(OBS) activities. OBS refers to the properties of the FI which are considered assets, but which do not feature in the balance sheets and thus are not used in balancing the ledger (at most, they may appear at the bottom of the balance sheet). Aristotle uses virtue ethics to answer questions about morality whereas Manning uses what is called ethics of caring to do the same thing. Virtue ethics claims people s actions aim towards the highest good of happiness. From happiness, moral virtue stems from reasons governing the desires of the soul. Aristotle feels people should strive for the superhuman virtue state, yet because being superhumanly virtuous is incredibly difficult, being virtuous or continent is seen as good as well. Rita Manning s approach to ethics is referred to as ethics of caring. She claims that ethics of caring has two elements, the first being disposition to care. Disposition to care is a willingness to receive others, a willingness to give the lucid attention required to appropriately fill the needs of others (Manning 477). The disposition deals with a commitment to caring for the needs of others. Manning claims that humans are obligated to care for not only the needs of others, but also what is required for the needs of others. The early portion of this decade, which saw massive shifts in the administrations of the United States and Soviet Union, maintained an atmosphere of suspicion, wariness, and skepticism. This theme of uncertainty and caution was the logical product of decades of both American and Soviet duplicity, confrontation, and militarization. Yet, despite this mistrust between the polar Cold War belligerents, and contrary to the early rhetoric of the Reagan administration, the United States and Soviet Union modified their perceptions of each other s intentions following 1985 s Reykjavik Summit, which, despite producing no tangible results, established common desire for arms reduction and a conclusion of the Cold War. The Theory Of Psychology And Personality Development Personality Report There are many theorists that have made psychology incredible, and have paved the way for what we believe psychology to consist of today. Some important theorists that I believe have made a huge contribution are Sigmund Freud, Karen Horney, and Dollard and Miller. These theorists have all had their own view on personality development, and I believe that these ideas have shaped the way in which we view psychology today. The many interpretations of conflict, psychotherapy, and cultural and biological aspects of personality have shaped their views and differences as well. Sigmund Freud, known as the father of psychology, developed some of the first theories of modern psychology. One of his well known theories is the structural model of the psyche. According to Freud, most of what drives individuals is buried in the unconscious mind. There are three main forces that drive humans, which include the id, the ego, and the super ego. The id is the summation of basic personal needs and desires. It is completely self centered, and has no care for sensibility or reality. It strives for what it wants, when it wants it with no other considerations. The second part of the personality is the ego. The ego is the realization of reality. It is the ego s job to, in a sense, counteract the selfishness and impractically if the id. The third part, the super ego, is morals and acquired beliefs of right and wrong. It has been argued that she wished to return England to the state in which her father left it Catholicism without the Pope. It is clear that her brother, Edward VI, also heavily influenced her, as the final religious settlement was in fact very similar to his doctrinal Reformation. However, her personal beliefs are more diverse, and cannot be attributed to so few influences. Her belief in private devotion can be illustrated by the fact that she did not want to make windows into men s hearts. It can therefore be argued that Elizabeth was not as radical as some Protestants of the time, for example the returning exiles. Even before exile had faced them some had become influenced by Calvinism, the most extreme of Protestant faiths. Or do you spot the way the lighting techniques help to communicate the story? Maybe you hear the score or the dialogue and witness the sense tingling notes and words that make you guess what is going to happen next. Whatever it may be, films are amazing works of art that stimulate emotions and help you experience the story in a deeper way. I had the opportunity to view the movie Tombstone and pay closer attention to the details that make the film what it is. Tombstone is a western film about a lawman named Wyatt Earp (portrayed by Kurt Russel) who is the protagonist in the story, along with his two brothers Virgil Earp (Sam Elliot) and Morgan Earp (Bill Paxton). With his brothers, Wyatt also has a trusty sidekick by the name of Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer) and they are feuding with the ruthless rebels of the time, known as the cowboys. • 24. Types Of The Organisational Structure Of RSPCA Organisational structure of RSPCA The organisational structure that the charity RSPCA has is a flat structure which between management and the worker level employees has few or no levels of management. This type of business structure displays the workers with the higher levels of authority and control on the higher levels. Then the workers with the least control and authority are on the lower levels of the flat organisational structure. The RSPCA using a flat organisational structure has managementlevels of a few or one. Meaning a Chain of Command from top to bottom will be short while the span of control is wide . The span of control means where the managers are responsible for a certain number of workers each at RSPCA. The store I will be focusing on is the Rowley Regis store to explain the flat structure for the RSPCA. The is a diagram of the flat structure below: This image shows the base level to be the workers who have the lowest level of authority and control in the RSPCA. The second level are the managers who have a span of control of seven subordinates between the two managers. The highest level is the director of the RSPCA who has the most control and authority out of everyone else, according to the image of the flat organisational structure. An advantage of the RSPCA being part of a flat structure is that for the managers and workers there is a great communication. This is an advantage because of their only being a few levels of communication for example, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sharks are found in waters all over the world and they come in a variety shapes and sizes. Some sharks are as small as a human hand and some sharks can be the size of a small to medium boat. The size, environment, and characteristics of the shark, will dictate what food the shark prefers. Generally, people think sharks will eat anything that it comes into contact with, but that is not the case. Hindered Bed Separator with Cross Flow Chapter 1 In Plant Testing of CrossFlow Separator in Coal Industry 1.1Introduction 1.1.1General The mineral processing industry has commonly utilized hydraulic separators throughout history for classification and gravity concentration of various minerals. More commonly referred to as hindered bed or fluidized bed separators, these units make use of differential particle settling rates to segregate particles according to shape, size, and/or density. Conventional hindered bed separators are inherently inefficient due to wide variations in the solids content and size distribution of the feed, which have an adverse effect of plant performance and operating costs. The traditional design consists of an open top vessel into which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The throughput capacity of existing hydraulic separators is limited by this introduction of water through the feed distribution pipe in the separation chamber and the excessive elutriation water added to the system. As previously mentioned, part of this problem was alleviated through the tangential feed distribution designed for the CrossFlow separator. A redesign of the elutriation water distribution, through use of a slotted plate at the base of the separation chamber, has minimized the amount of water used by allowing the water to better disperse through the separator. Larger diameter holes spread farther apart (6 inches versus 0.5 inches) allows for the water to be introduced into the chamber, and the baffle plate disperses the water throughout the chamber. This ultimately reduces the amount of overall elutriation water required, and increasing the throughput capacity of the separator. The improved distribution of elutriation water also minimizes dead zones within the separation chamber that were often caused by plugging of the small diameter holes in the lateral pipes at the bottom of the separation chamber. By increasing the diameter of the holes and adding the baffle plate to fully distribute the water, separation efficiency has increased due to full utilization of the separation chamber. The increase in separation efficiency and throughput capacity reduces the operating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This caused problems with many veterans who wished to enter the war memorials. This even led to a riot and a break in at a World War 2 Memorial. Many federal workers were furloughed which basically means that they were let off temporarily till the government started back up. So large sums of workers were given a vacation, but if the government had been shut down longer, this could have become a very pressing issue. After the shutdown some research was done to see just which states where hit the hardest. According to NBC Washington Virginia was the state that had the hardest impact from the shutdown. Many of Virginias mortgage loans, on real estate, where backed up with federal funds causing many houses to foreclose. Virginia was also pushed to the top of the list by being the second largest state that houses the most veterans. The Nonhuman World Exhibits Beauty Of Its Own And That Humans Looking over the vast expanses of the American landscape, staring up into a starry sky, or watching spring return and animals rear their young, one cannot help but see beauty in nature. Some people find beauty even in the smallest of creatures and things. The earth is full of wonder. At the same time, driving across certain places, where humans have scarred the landscape, ugliness appears. The marred landscapes in which humans have clear cut a forest, obliterated a mountain, or dumped waste can destroy the natural beauty that natureonce exhibited. In this paper I will argue that the nonhuman world exhibits beauty of its own and that humans can either enhance or deface this beauty. Defining what makes something beautiful is a huge endeavor. Philosophers have argued for centuries over the simple question, What is beauty? This is a question that is probably unanswerable. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and based on personal experiences and varies from person to person; it is subjective. We call a variety of things beautiful : a landscape; various nonhuman animals; a young woman; a painting; a symphony. We may even say that an action, such as a gazelle leaping across a field or a well executed sports play, is beautiful. Even if we cannot define exactly what beauty is as a quality in something or a quality within the beholder, everyone somehow believes that some things are beautiful in some way. I learned so much about all kinds of volcanoes from my research, but when it came down to answering the questions that I had asked, there were two web sites that I found were the most useful, The US Geological Societies Cascades Volcano Observatory, and Volcanoes Online. These two I found to be the most useful in my research. Mount Rainier is located in Washington, and it basically dominates the landscape of a large part of western Washington. The mountain is 4,329 meters, and it is what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Sohail, Roy, Saeed and Ahmed,2007; Kwortnik , 2005) researchers generally agree that service quality is not a uni dimensional assemble that reflects whether a firm s customer service is superb or meagre. Instead service quality symbolizes a combination of factors that determine customers perceptions about the offering. Service quality is not objectively measured according to some technical standards but is subjectively felt by customers and measured relative to customer determined standards. Thus, service quality is the gap between perceived service delivered and expected service. As a result, service quality is defined similarly, as a comparative function between consumer expectations and actual service performance (Iacobucci and Ostrom, 1995; Parasuraman et al.,1985) Because of economic improvements, a long term and commonly advantageous relationship between the customer and the hotel is becoming progressively more important. Companies with satisfied consumers benefit from higher margins and consequently greater profits than do businesses that fail to maintain and satisfy their consumers This fact has conducted hotels to invest in new ways to improve service quality and the perceived value that hopefully will lead to better customer satisfaction and loyalty, and thus establish a better relationship quality with each customer. (Jones, Mak and Sim, 2007; Barsky and Nash, 2003). Knowing what represented service quality,

  • 45. Alternatives Of Alternative Fuels For Gasoline Alternative Fuel Studies show that there is an increasing interest in alternative fuels for use in vehicles (cars and trucks). Most substitute energies are sourced from reusable products. Some of these alternative fuel products are produced domestically, and this reduces the United States dependence on imported fuel (Norman, 2007). The augmenting attention in substitute energies is motivated by numerous factors. To begin with, substitute energies result to reduced vehicle emissions; such emissions produced in the conformist vestige energy result to orangery gases and haze. These effluent products have led to global concerns since they accelerate global warming and increasing air pollution. Purpose Statement The purpose of this... This is a blend of eighty five out of a hundred of methanol and about fifteen out of a hundred petrol. The other substitute energy is biofuel, which is based on vegetable oils or animal fats. It may also be produced from recycled oils from restaurants after being used for cooking. This calls for engine conversion so that they can burn biodiesel in its pure state (Adrian, 2007). Biodiesel can be blended with petrol diesel and get utilized in original locomotives. It is decomposable, and decreases contaminants ( particulate substance, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons ) associated with the use of fossil fuels in vehicles. Propane can also be used as substitute energy and it is a byproduct of natural gas. It is more consumed as energy for cooking and heating and it automobiles it produces fewer emissions than gasoline. Another substitute energy is hydrogen which is mixed with natural gas to create substitute energy for vehicles designed with interior incineration locomotive capacities. Energy cell vehicles, which ride on electrical energy resulting from petrochemical reaction due to fusion hydrogen and oxygen in the fuel stack, is an excellent example of hydrogen powered vehicle (Clean Cities, 2008).
