Intermittent Numbness Case Summary
Chief Complaint Intermittent numbness, left lower extremity. History The patient is an 80 year old
right handed white female, who presents with her male partner for evaluation of left lower
extremity symptoms. She did present for an EMG nerve conduction study in May. At that time, she
gave a history of intermittent numbness into the anterior lateral thigh. The numbness rarely
extended below the knee at that time, and it rarely occurred on the right. There was no clear
radicular component. Her exam was normal. Her EMG of the left lower extremity was limited
because she is on Pradaxa, but it was normal and CBs were consistent with a mild motor neuropathy.
The diagnosis was possible meralgia paresthetica. The patient now states that the numbness is
intermittent. It is on the anterior thigh, but now it goes down into the calf anteriorly and... Show

of work in artificial intelligence. The astute reader will note that neither our definition of CR nor
the primary factor motivating the introduction of these radios explicitly mentions dynamic
spectrum access (DSA). Our distinction between CR and DSA is intentionalVwe believe that the
application of cognitive techniques, while appropriate to enable DSA, is much broader than
DSA alone. DSA, though, is important if only because of its looming presence as a Bkiller
application[ for cognitive techniques. For nearly a century, allocation of spectrum throughout the
world has been based on a model of static allocation. More recently, it has been realized that this
model leads to gross inefficiencies. While the entire radio spectrum from 6 kHz to 300 GHz is
allocated [2], at any given point in space and time, most of the spectrum is unused (e.g.,

The Softer Side of Resistance
The Softer Side of Resistance
Early Twentieth Century Italy, like the early Twentieth Century in the United States, was a time of
promise for women s progress. The issues forming the women s rights platform seem basic and,
especially because of our current placement in history, not too radical: the right to divorce,
educational and employment rights, and perhaps most extreme, voting rights. In the early years of
the Twentieth Century(although processes there were different from our concepts of democratic
voting), some of these issues had even been brought to the ballot (Pickering Iazza, Mothers, p.38).
And contrary to popular perception, during the early years of Mussolini s rule (which lasted from
1922 1943), public support for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
42). True to its totalitarian character, this plan brought the state even further into the peoples
private lives. The Fascist government went as far as passing into law a bachelor tax. All eligible
men aged twenty six to sixty five paid exorbitant taxes if they chose to stay single (De Grazia,
p.69). The party outlawed birth control, held national childbearing contests, created monetary
incentives for having at least seven children, and campaigned for a revision of beauty standards
(De Grazia, ch. 3,4). Pursuing a goal that would mean more confining gender roles, for women and
men alike, Mussolini went all out to get his way.
In accordance with these ideals of womanhood, Mussolini saw to it that women s education was
tailored to their future roles as mothers and keepers of the house. Now, if wealthy enough to be in
school, women were taught, even at the university level, how to keep a home (Pickering Iazzi,
Mothers p. 34).
Mussolini also eliminated the most public display of women s potential political power, the right
to vote. One would assume that from the outset of his rule, the Duce would strongly oppose this
form of liberation for women. But his position wavered on this issue as much as it did in several
other areas. In 1919, he answered in an interview: I am a supporter of

Lisfranc Fracture-Dislocation Case Study
The Lisfranc fracture dislocation is characterised as an injury of the tarsometatarsal joints of the
foot. This region of the foot is prone to injury due to the lack of ligaments separating the bases of
the first and second metatarsals (Bontrager Lampignano, 2010). The Lisfranc joint articulates
between the cuneiforms and cuboid of the foot, along with the distal end of metatarsals, and
separates the forefoot from the midfoot. The joint can be seen from three different views in Figure
1 of the appendix (Kalia, Fishman, Carrino, Fayad, 2011). The clinical indications of a Lisfranc
fracture dislocation include oedema and tenderness in the area of the midfoot. The injury is usually
caused by the foot being overly plantar flexed, and is often associated with vehicular accidents and
sporting injuries (Scolaro, Ahn Mehta, 2011).
According to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the separation between the base of the first and second metatarsals is less than two millimetres,
the recommended treatment is to cast and immobilise the foot until healed. However, the most
common form of treatment is surgical and known as open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF).
In Figure 4, a radiographic image shows how a surgical screw has been positioned to stabilise and
internally fixate the Lisfranc fracture dislocation (Southerland, Boberg, Downey, Nakra Rabjohn,
2012).
It has been suggested by Scolaro (2011) et al. that if the Lisfranc fracture dislocation is greater than
two millimetres long term complications such as arthritis and damage to surrounding ligaments can
occur. However, the likelihood of obtaining posttraumatic arthritis is decreased dramatically if
ORIF surgery is performed soon after initial injury. If the Lisfranc fracture was a result of an
athletic injury, pain and instability of the foot can occur and arthrodesis may be necessary for long
term treatment (Saxena,

Personal Narrative-Coincidence
Coincidence? I think not... Paige rushed around the house as she got ready for work. All she
could think about was the extra ten minutes she spent in bed that morning and whether or not it
was worth it. While she was rushing around trying to feed the dog, brush her hair and get her
lunch ready for the day, she decided it was worth it. She really needed the extra sleep and it felt
good to take a few minutes for herself. Paige has been going to school full time, working at the
agency full time and studying for her last few finals. She only had a few more days until she was
finally finished with her master degree and she would be done with school after six very long
years. Even though she was feeling rushed this morning, she knew it would only be a few more
weeks of the craziness; that was enough to push her out the door and prepare to start her day.
While she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Forgetting about the shirt, Paige invited her in, asked her to have a seat and introduced herself.
When the young woman said her name was also Paige, the two laughed it off, stating that it was
quite the coincidence and what were the odds. After talking for awhile, Paige learned that the
young woman was the little girls, Emily, aunt. She was in town because her sister relapsed and
was put into rehab. She was going to take care of Emily for a couple weeks and needed social
services help in order to make sure everything went smoothly. After the meeting, Paige and the
young woman walked outside. Paige began to feel uneasy again once the young woman began
asking more personal questions. They started out innocent, such as do you have any animals, to
what time Paige usually got home from work. When Paige told her she was actually taking night
classes at the moment, the young woman stated that she was too and would be graduating in a few
weeks. What a wonderful coincidence, or so Paige

CAFÉ SOCIETY, A TIMELESS ALLURE

GLOBAL CAFÉ SOCIETY KEEPS IT TIMELESS GLAMOUR
In 1971, Starbucks was just a single bar in Seattle s market plaza. Ten years later, the one location
had become five, and the company began importing their own blends of coffee. The legend
surrounding the birth of Starbucks tells of Howard Schulz, one of the company s buyers, making a
trip to Italy in 1983, and being astounded to learn that the Country had more than 200,000 cafГ©s

And who could ignore Paris s oldest literary cafГ© Procope, or the city s iconic CafГЁ Flore or the
legendary Les Deux Magots, on the corner of Place Saint Germain des PrГ©s: all beloved places
for 20th Century artists and intellectuals like Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, Albert Camus,
Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir.
But in the first half of the 20th Century, it wasn t just highbrow culture that was discussed in
New York or European capital cities. CafГ©s were a magnet for bohemians with their disorderly
lives, bourgeois women who were in search of adventure and models who d appear in
sophisticated clothes and jewels, like those featured in the photos by Cecil Beaton for Vogue.
These were the cafГ©s for the sophisticated avant garde culture made up of beautiful people and
bright young things , a generation that would become immortalized with the name CafГ© Society ,
which was a term coined by the columnist for the New York American, Maury Paul, whose writings
inspired the 1938 film by Paramount Pictures, Cafe Society.
In the U.S, the rise of Cafe Society coincided with the end of Prohibition (December, 1933) and the
growing popularity of photojournalism. All of a sudden, photographers were taking pictures of
everything, everywhere as long as there was someone famous in the shot. Millionaires, starlets,
sports stars, and of course, the luminaries of CafГ© Society .

The Grateful Dead Essay
The Grateful Dead
The Grateful Dead was a band that toured continuously for 30 years until the death of lead man
Jerry Garcia. They were known for free flowing jams and bluegrass roots. Phish is a band that has
toured consistently for the last 17 years and has in time made themselves into stealth multi
millionaires. Both are very talented bands, who have and in the Dead s case, had, created big
names for themselves. Many people make wrongful association with these two groups of musicians.
It is said that Phish is trying to be the Dead of this generation. This statement is very untrue. Phish
is not a Grateful Dead take off. Phish and the Dead have much more differences than similarities.

A third thing they have in common is their fans (Deadheads and Phans). The Grateful Dead and
Phish have both established quite a following. These fans follow their favorite band around the
country to see their shows(this phan has been to over 25 Phish shows). They also collect their
favorite shows on cd r or tape, since both bands have an open taping policy at their concerts. By
doing this, Phish and the Dead opened up a new hobby; and other bands have gone along with
open taping (e.g. Dave Matthews Band, Moe., Bela Fleck).
Although these two bands do similar things with their music, the music itself is considerably
different. I think the reason Phish is labeled Children of the Dead is because of their early years
playing small gigs at Nector s bar in Vermont. They were just starting out, and did not have
enough original songs to have a complete set list. This forced Phish to do many cover songs.
Mike Gordon (bassist), the only real Dead fan in Phish coaxed his fellow band mates to cover
some Grateful Dead tunes, along with covers from other various artists and their own originals.
The Dead songs were played on very few occasions, and the songs were Fire on the Mountain and
Scarlet Begonias (commonly known as Fire*Scarlet). After a while people started calling Phish a
Grateful Dead cover band, even though they covered a few Dead

Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lyndon B. Johnson
Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lyndon B. Johnson demonstrated unimaginable leadership skills in
an effort to accomplish their respective agendas. Through the use of moral leadership, King
would rise to become the head of the Civil Rights Movement by means of civil disobedience and
nonviolent resistance. MLK began as a Baptist Minister, but after seeing the difference he could
make in the world, decided to stand up for what he felt was right. Johnson, on the other hand,
used political leadership in order to make a name for himself as President of the United States.
LBJ was willing to do whatever it took to accomplish his goals, even if it meant going against the
Southern Democrats who had elected him to political office. One of these risks... Show more

Niebuhr believed that the world was full of evils and oppressions that individuals needed to
fight against. People should not stand back and allow the horrors around them to continue, but
instead fight back in whatever way they can. MLK would take these teachings and apply them
to his ideas of Gandhi s nonviolent protests. Individuals who are in the minority, and thus unable
to take drastic action, would benefit from the use of nonviolence. This strategy would allow
Black Americans to seek justice and equality without truly disturbing the current relationship
with White Americans. King s plan was to allow his religious and political ideals to run on the
same moral edge, something that Reinhold Niebuhr had surely allowed for in his ideology
(Branch, 81 7). Martin Luther King, Jr. was able to use this religious and moral idea of
nonviolence to unite Black Americans who were tired of their oppression. Violence and drastic
action had proven to arguably make their situation worse, meaning that something as different
as peaceful civil disobedience could prove to work. By the time of the 1963 I Have a Dream speech
at the March on Washington, King had become the voice of the various perspectives of life as a
Black American. He now expressed the universal voice of all his people, and he was not afraid to
use it in the pursuit of equality for Blacks (Branch, 881 3). Martin Luther King s Birmingham
campaign would prove to be the

Mythology In Mythology
Judging from the sources on the internet (unfortunately, one of them does include wikipedia) and
the snippets I watched of the PBS documentary series that the book The Power of Myth is a
companion for, one of Joseph s Campbell s most foundational ideas is that mythology is one of
the primary sources of a given generation s cultural values, and it is a mechanism used to teach
lessons or values to those young or new to a society. This thesis on mythology can be adapted to
modern movies on Jesusbecause these movies contain unique alterations and spins on the
religious stories on Jesus. In Godspell, the movie s use of a New York setting and a young,
diverse cast translate the ministry of Jesus to the capitalism and peace struggle of the 1970s, and
in Jesus Christ Superstar, the movie s young cast and secular themed songs translate the existence
of Jesus to a generation becoming more and more scientific. As a result, Godspell remythologizes
the ministry of Jesus to reflect and teach peace and deviation from the status quo, and Jesus Christ
Superstar remythologizes Jesus as a figure to reflect a tension in understanding Jesus in a modern
technological age. Because two different aspects of the 1970s culture is embodied in these modern
Jesus myths, movies are a media used to remythologize Jesus to fit in with each coming generation
s struggles, beliefs, and culture. The aspect of the 1970s that Godspell reflects is the conflict
between peace and the status quo. During the 1970s,

Misogynistic Social Roles In Jane Austen s Pride And...
The novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen depicts the endeavours of two sisters finding lovers
in the late 18th century. Austen s novel takes place during the turning of the 19th century in
Regency England, an age in which societal status is of the utmost importance and each individual
is ranked based on their family name, wealth, and education. This common ideal of the time
period is detrimental to the livelihood of the sisters and the probability of them marrying the men
that they truly love. The novel portrays this common prejudice among the social classes,
specifically when Mrs Bennet insists that her daughter marry a man in order to keep their estate,
Mr. Darcy s initial dismissal of Elizabeth due to her class, and Miss Bingley s manipulation of her
brother in order to maintain their families immaculate reputation. The Bennet household consists of
Mr. Bennet, Mrs. Bennet, and their five daughters. As the story begins to unfold, it is revealed that
Mr. Bennet s property is entailed, meaning that when he passes, nothing of his will be left to his
wife or daughters, but will be directly inherited by the closest male relative. In revealing this detail,
Austen illustrates the misogynistic social view of the time period which implies that only men
should be held responsible for finances. Due to this circumstance, Mrs. Bennet finds herself
frantically searching for suitors for her daughters while solely considering their wealth. In Jane s
case, she is fortunate enough

Hello welcome to my lecture. Today I will be comparing Nate Robinson s autobiography Heart
over height and Isaiah Austin s Autobiography Dream again . The purpose of this lecture is to
compare and analyse the effectiveness to manipulate the audience. Heart over height and Dream
again are both autobiographies written from the perspectives of a current and a former basketball
player.
Heart over height discusses the struggles of being a short athlete in a sport that is dominated by
tall people, to expand on this Nate Robinson is doubted throughout his whole playing career on
the basis of being five foot nine. and if he was only a few inches taller he would have more
respect, Isiah Thomas said it best: If Nate Robinson was 6 feet tall, he d be the No. 1 pick in the

the 2014 NBA draft but unfortunately found out he would be unable to play only a few days before

The writing styles presented in both of these books hold similarities like past tense and
descriptiveness, But while reading dream again there was a distinctive positive difference in
terms of the descriptiveness within the writing style and use of language devices like analogies,

Value Of Higher Education
Education helps us reach our life goals and dreams. It can be valuable, beneficial, and rewardable
to those who strive to do their best in college and find the major, college, and specialty that will
suit them. Students who receive a higher education are more likely to have a better and stable life.
Although the style of disciplines that are strictly enforced in traditional schooling is unacceptable
for many students, it could also have a lot of positive impacts to prepare them for the future.
Students are always looking for freedom and how to not be under controlled. Positive disciplines
teach them how to behave well and work together to create a better community. In terms of

bad teachers who get the blame. Other times it s standardized testing, insufficient funding, or slow

Throughout human history, people have come together to form small, independent city states or

have been more conventional to the Western understanding, such as the Roman Empire where there
was a central capital that had direct control over other territories in which it conquered. Other

the well being and economic stability of disempowered farmers, by using certified commodity
chains to foster development . For the KHC company, Fair trade is essential because they want to
provide and endorse exceptional coffeebeans that they are proud to use; that means, using coffee
that is good and fair for both our coffee drinkers and for farmers are essential (Kicking Horse
Coffee, n.d.). In fact, over the past 20 years, Kicking Horse won numerous awards in many
categories, including Canada s Fastest Growing Companies, Canada s Top Women Entrepreneurs,
Canada s Favourite Fair trade Product and number 15 Best Workplace in Canada (Kicking Horse

Igor Stravinsky Nationalism
Nationalism in music refers to a musical movement originating in the 19th century. It served as a
reaction to German music which dominated the musical scene at the time. It focused particularly
on folk traditions of the composer s national heritage, as well as subjects of national life and
history. It also allowed composers such as Stravinsky to form a greater presence in the musical
scene. (Curran 2016 Nationalism in Music) The early music of Igor Stravinsky often shows
nationalistic traits that reflect his Russian upbringing and influences. In his later compositions he
moves beyond this, keeping continuity through a smooth transition in style from a Russian style of
writing to a neoclassical style. (Szabo 2011, p. 2). This can be seen by... Show more content on

The first is the Russian period which extends to the late 1910s. His works in this period show
nationalist traits (as evident by the name) and include works such as L oiseau de feu (The
Firebird) (1910), Petrushka (1911) and Le sacre du printemps (The Rite of Spring) (1913).
Second is the neoclassical period which starts in the early 1920s and ends in the early 1950s. This
period sees Stravinsky move beyond nationalism in his music and includes works such as Octet for
Wind Instruments (1923), Oedipus Rex (1927) and Symphony in C (1940). The third and final
period of Stravinsky s works is the serialism period and includes works such as Canticum Sacrum
(1955), Agon (1957) and Requiem Canticles (1966) (Griffiths; Szabo 2011; Taruskin White;
Walsh). The transition between the Russian and neoclassical period is an important time as it
highlights shifts in Stravinsky s compositional techniques and interests. Examples of the
transitional works of Stravinsky include Les Noces (The Wedding) (1917), Histoire du Soldat
(The Soldier s Tale) (1918) and Pulcinella (1920) (Szabo 2011, p. 1). While all periods of
Stravinsky s works have been mentioned, the serial period shall not be discussed in this essay as it
is the transition from the Russian to neoclassical that shows how Stravinsky moved beyond
nationalism in his

Deception, Lying, And Other Cases
In Element 1, I will present some cases where deception is thought to be lying, and other cases
where deception is not thought to be lying. I will contend that, when deception is lying, it is
immoral and I will give reasons for why this is the case. After my presentation, I will take a look at
some possible criticisms of my arguments and then answer those criticisms. Then, I will present my
conclusions.
In Element 2, I will contend that people for whatever reason choose to lie about things in order to
persuade others into thinking that the truth is on their side. Lying takes a group of actions or
words that are clearly false to the perpetrator to try to bait someone into thinking that it is truthful.
When deceptions are thought to be lies, it can be a very eerie situation because the person that
was lied to did not get complete or enough adequate information of what was told. Yes, what
someone said may have been truthful, but not all of the information was being told. The person
receiving the information is left without additional pieces to the story although he or she does not
know this, which makes the person assume that what you said was the end all be all to the
situation. These situations can likely equate to being a lie because of the information that was
omitted. Once the person finds out that pieces of information was left out or incomplete, they will
feel like they were lied to. Because the rest of the information or story was not fulfilled, the person
can also be

Spirited Away By Hayao Miyazaki
Spirited Away In Spirited Away, Hayao Miyazaki introduces a young girl named Chihiro. She s
brought into the Spirit World through the curiosity and greediness of her parents. Miyazaki makes
her life problematic because of the simple nature of humans. He realizes that the different negative
characteristics that humans have within them lead them to trouble, even children. He claims that I
m not going to make movies that tell children, You should despair and run away . (Hayao Miyazaki
Quotes) With this in mind, Miyazaki attempts to show children that they re capable of
overcoming problems even at the young age that they re at. Within the spirit world, the
apparitions have negative plans for humans, specifically for the future of Chihiro. As if it wasn t
enough for him to put the young girl in a setting with Spirits/Ghosts, he makes it so that these
apparitions have negative plans in mind for the humans that they come in contact with. Miyazaki
does this in order to put Chihiro in a situation that the audience would see as extremely difficult.
He then adds onto Chihiro s circumstances by creating a complex environment that she has to live
in while she s in the spirit world. He places her in an spa/inn run by a deranged woman who cares
more for her gigantic baby than the spa/inn itself. Miyazaki planned and created many different
angles of the building in order to depict to the audience the type of situation that Chihiro is to be
put in.

How Has The Industrial Revolution Changed The World
It would be hard for some to believe there was a time that taking a train ride was the best way to

we are in a time where trains are only used for local transportation and it is unusual for a household

about a higher volume and variety of factoryproduced goods and elevated the standard of living for
many people, mostly for the middle and upper classes. The life for the poor and working classes

(1) the division and specialization of human labor; and (2) the use of tools, machinery, and other

came into play in the early 20th century to make mass production happen. Henry Ford s decided

machine driven innovation also played vital role. The rich talent much like California s Silicon

Leadership Of The Church And Its Mission
This course has helped me prepare for ministry in the twenty first century by enlightening me in
areas and categories I knew nothing about. Hosea 4:6, My people are destroyed for lack of
knowledge: because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest
to me: seeing thouhast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children . Knowledge
is powerful, and the desire to obtain it, especially when it s conducive to our walk of faith should
be something we strive to achieve daily. There are several areas in ministry, and church affairs that
I have a general knowledge of now, after taking this course.
The very first chapter Transformational leadership in a technological age in our textbook
captivated my attention. It gives an understanding of the church and how it s viewed. The
purpose of the church and its mission is information all believers should know and understand in
order to serve and lead effectively. I realize in order to minister productively and persuasively I
need to be abreast of the times in which we live. This world has changed drastically, and the
channels we use in order to minister to this dying world needs to as well, without compromising the
word of God, our standards, or our integrity.
This course allowed me to think differently about ministry and observe it from a different
perspective. Ministry is any platform and opportunity made available to you by God in order to
spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must

Mating Selection Research Paper
Procreation and mating selection are linked to the primal desire of survival and genetic continuity.
The means of creating successful offspring are often paved through distinctive selection, which are
often tailored to specific genetic traits that one or more partners possess. These concepts are a
biological component that drives humans to reproduce with specific individuals. Since humans are
unable to procreate by asexual means, the selection of a mate and their genetic information are
highly important in concepts of reproduction. Males and females alike are psychologically and
physically wired to make mating choice based on concepts of physical presentation and
characteristics. These components often link together couples for mating purposes,... Show more

This has always been a present factor due to its capability to foresee danger, such as a fire or
unpleasant smell. Since humans tend to avoid disturbing smells to survive, this biological
mechanism has also been shown to translate with human selection. This biological component is
tailored to pheromones, or chemicals that the body produces. These pheromones are used to
attract the attention of a mate. An article titled Human Pheromones: The Science Behind the
Scent of Attraction states that pheromones signal reproductive quality when excreted by various
regions such as skin, sweat glands and urine and furthermore only about 10 percent of men give
off a specific pheromone androsterone which is the so called sex appeal ( Human Pheromones )
Humans produce sweat in places that produce a lot of hair. While this mechanism is used to keep
the body from over heating, the sweat also comes into contact with the hair in each area. Sweat
and the hair produce a specific scent that others around you may pick up on, and depending on the
individual, this scent may be pleasant or fowl. Woman tend to prefer a musky scent where men
prefer a lighter scent. Each individual scent is tailored to a specific person, and generally the mate
will find this smell pleasant and enjoy the biological components their partner creates. This concept
is actually shown to be an immune system component where scent is used to

Emperor Penguin Climate Change
These massive changes in climate over millions of years brought about new species and ended
others. As we are living in a cold period in the history of the earth s climate, small temperature
changes are attributed to increased levels of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. The important
question is: how will these changes, man made or otherwise, impact existing species? One easily
observed example is Emperor penguins, residents of the shores and ice shelves of Antarctica. With
increasing temperature of the ocean, the sea ice where they live melts, eliminating nesting areas,
the sea levels rise, reducing shore habitat, and food supply becomes limited. The penguins main diet
consists of krill, fish, and squid. Antarctic krill populations, their... Show more content on

The ones residing on the northern coast of Antarctica are prone to ice melting, due to the increasing
temperatures in the spring which shorten the ice season. Those on the southern coast are of least
concern due to the fact that the temperature there fluctuates less drastically. Regarding the penguins
nesting places, immense ice sheets are essential for them to hatch and raise chicks; during the ice
season, Emperor penguins march 60 100 miles to their rookery around May, where they lay,
incubate, and hatch their eggs. Usually, the chicks begin fledging about December and the adults
leave. However, if the ice season is shorter due to warmer temperatures, the ice breaks earlier.
Before the baby penguins can fully fledge and retain waterproof and swimming capabilities, the
only habitat they know is swallowed into the ocean. Then, the immature chicks, unable to swim, are
swept into the sea where they drown. The quintessential nesting grounds of Emperor penguins allow
for expansion of their species. After all, predation by leopard seals and killer whales naturally
reduces the population, and they must repopulate to sustain. The specific, freezing march of
Emperor penguins to their nesting grounds was displayed in the acclaimed French documentary
March of the Penguins. The documentary was recorded in the southern region of Antarctica, where
temperatures recorded have less effect on the early

Theory And Developments Of The Direct Injection,...
Abstract This paper reviews the concepts and developments of the direct injection, stratified charge
combustion engine; focusing on 4 stroke petrol commercial automotive applications. Introduction
The main objective of the direct injection (DI) stratified charge engine is to combine the benefits of
the petrol spark ignition (SI) engine, controlled and complete combustion of charge at full load; and
diesel compression ignition (CI) engines, lean burning and higher compression ratios and
efficiencies[1]. Direct injection Spark Ignition (Petrol Engine) Direct injection spark ignition (DISI)
engines are relatively new to the large scale commercial market, and are slowly becoming more
widespread. The demands for higher performance whilst realizing lower fuel consumption and
maintaining cleaner emissions, have the potential to be met by the direct injection spark ignition
engine[2]. The thermodynamic potential of DISI engines DISI engines have the potential to have
greater fuel economy that diesel engines at partial loadings though use of stratified charge and late
fuel injection; and have better performance than the naturally aspirated spark ignition engines at
high loads by operating under stoichiometric or slightly rich conditions utilizing early fuel injection
[3]. There are two basic strategies for preparing the air fuel mixture used in direct injection
technology. Figure 1 illustrates the preparation of air fuel mixtures used to optimize both partial
and higher loads. At

Politics And The Effect In George Orwell s Writing
Politics and the effect in writing
Orwell s statement that language becomes ugly and inaccurate because our thoughts are foolish,
but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to have foolish, but the slovenliness of
our language makes it easier for us to have foolish thoughts in fact is true in our language in more
recent times because of various uses such as propaganda and other techniques such as glittering
generalities, transfer, card stacking, the band wagon. Although these effect writing and one s
opinions, other powerful technique authors may use in writing include effective word choice and
text along with photographs in political cartoons. Through today s language, once politics are
involved, one tends to become ugly and even foolish at times.
How does one detect propaganda? Although this question is complex, and difficult to end at one
conclusion, there are ways that a reader can indeed detect propaganda. Many of today s authors
often try and influence what the reader is reading and in many cases in a political way. We are
fooled by propaganda chiefly because we don t recognize it when we see it ( How to Detect 756).

The Three Types Of Pollution That Affect Humans And Animals
I think that the topic pollution is a very important topic to talk about, here is why I think so.
There is quite a few types of pollution in the world, but the three main ones I want to address are
the types of pollution that affect Humans and animals. The three main types of pollution that can
negatively affect humans and animals are air, water, and soil pollution.
Air pollution is a type of pollution that occurs when harmful substances, including particulates and
biological molecules are introduced into Earth s atmosphere. There is a lot of chemicals that get
released into the atmosphere when fossil fuels are burned; the effects that these chemicals have on
our bodies when inhaled can be very detrimental to our health and well being. A few things that
can occur when we breathe in polluted air are; firstly, you are put at a higher risk of respiratory
diseases such as asthma and bronchitis. Second, exposure to higher levels of particle pollution have
been shown to correspond to higher risks of heart complications. Third, immune system, endocrine,
and reproductive system damage; which can lead to future health complications. Four, when living
in an area with lots of air pollution you are being put at higher risks for cancer. The pollutants in
the air mostly contain of carcinogens; any substance, radionuclide, or radiation that is an agent
directly involved in causing cancer. Five, contact with the air pollution can lead to neurobehavioral
problems and premature death. These are a few of the main effects that air pollution has on humans.
Air pollution can also negatively affect animals, here are a few ways on how it can. The first
way that air pollution can negatively affect animals are from acid rain. Acid rain is an acidic form
of rain, meaning that it contains high levels of hydrogen ions; having a low pH balance of around
5.7. The acid rain can destroy the life of fish in lakes and streams. The second way that air pollution
can negatively affect animals are, extreme ultraviolet radiation. Ultraviolet radiation is the portion
of the EM (electromagnetic) spectrum between X rays and visible light. When extreme UV
radiation is coming from the sun through the ozone layer (in the upper atmosphere), it can

Kennedy s Policy Goals During The Cold War
Kennedy learned various lessons from Cuba and Berlin such as: looking for diplomatic
solutions, being skeptical of his advisors, and to not act without plausible deniability. Kennedy
would carry over those lessons for the rest of his term as President. Had Kennedy remained
President from 1964 1968, the lessons acquired from Cuba and Berlin would have prevented an
escalation in Vietnam. Kennedy viewed getting involved in Vietnam as a disruption to his foreign
policy goals. One of Kennedy s primary concerns during the Cold War was preventing escalation
with the Soviet Union, it was a larger concern to him than to his advisors. The United States lacked
support from other major countries and by interfering in Vietnam, the relationship with China that
Kennedy wanted would have been negatively impacted. Kennedy s priority during the Cold War
was to defuse conflicts in Europe, and Vietnam would have been a secondary struggle with no real
benefit. Kennedy demonstrated his skepticism to his advisor s proposals by rejecting Rostow s
Berlin proposals. As a second term President, Kennedy would only have more freedoms when
making foreign policy decisions. Kennedy did not want militaristic escalation in Vietnam, and
would ensure that escalation would not take place. Although Kennedy did want to prevent the
spread of communism in Southeast Asia, sending ground troops was not the way he wanted to
accomplish his goals. Kennedy would carry over his diplomatic intentions or quick action

Zoo Observation Essay
Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Los Angeles zoo on a beautiful, sunny Thursday
(October 19th). Although I arrived off schedule which left a minimal amount of time to observe
primates, I managed my time well. After being told that the larger animals get put away earlier,
I figured my first stop would be at an ape enclosure. The ape I chose to see that day was the
gorilla. The time that I began my observation was at approximately 3:05. At that time only one
ape was quite visible and he was sitting at the front making eye contact with me making it seem
as if he is HABITUATED. Next, post gorilla watching, I had the chance to take a gander at the
ring railed lemurs at 3:40. These prosimians all had their own personalities which interested me
deeply. Lastly, and certainly not least on my journey through the LA zoo, I had the chance of
looking at the mandrills which were once classified as baboons. Considering that two baby
mandrills were present and only a month old, this was my favorite exhibit to see because of
their high energy and randomness of actions. Beginning with the most intelligent of the bunch,
the (western lowland) gorillas I observed were quite inactive. This is certainly so because they
are known to only be hunted by man leaving no competition outside of their own species. This
fact makes it apparent why these kings of the jungle sit around so often. In the wild and even in
zoos it may be difficult for a male to find mates because groups of gorillas are POLYGYNOUS.
So usually one male is the father of all of the offspring. Being this way, male gorillas must
display DOMINANCE over others and even stand their ground against an incoming male that
may threaten the family. Going back to how they sit all day, gorillas are able to do this because
they don t even have to move to replenish energy for the reason that they are grass and leaf eaters
(vegetarians). Not having to move very much makes gorillas capable of having a low quality diet.
Moving forward, ring tailed lemurs showed the greatest amount of ALTRUISM. They kindly
groomed each other for an extensive amount of time, showing a great bond between one another.
Also, their ability to move quickly and jump high showed off their MOTOR

Essay On Short Selling
The far majority who invest in the stock market or a type of security hope that their investment
escalates in value or price. However, others execute investments based on the opposite taking place;
they hope that the price of the security declines. These investors are practicing short selling.
Numerous renowned examples of shortselling exist, one of which, the shorting of mortgage backed
securities during the real estate bubble in 2008. A number of critics find short selling unethical
while others feel it necessary to maintain a balance in the market. According to Nasdaq, short
selling can be defined as establishing a market position by selling a security that one does not own
in anticipation of the price of that security failing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1980s, investments banks such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, JP
Morgan, and Morgan Stanley started selling mortgage bonds. Mortgage bonds were a collection
of thousands of home mortgages, purchased from lenders, and their associated income streams
(monthly payment). To address the fact that some homeowners often refinance their debt when
interest rates are low which prematurely pays off the debt, mortgage bonds were stacked into
layers called tranches . The lowest tranche represented mortgages to be paid off early, and the
highest layer was the last mortgages to be paid off. Then, in the 1990s, bonds were created
consisting of subprime mortgages, which were higher risk mortgages with high interest rates,
made to borrowers with lower credit levels. Essentially, banks were handing out mortgages like
candy to consumers who were never going to be able to make the payments, but Wall Street kept
buying and packaging the mortgages into bonds. Since these bonds were inherently riskier, one
wonders why investors were still willing to buy. Investors, who look at ratings by agencies such
as Moodys and Standard Poors, had no reason to believe these bonds were risky investments. The
agencies, whom were being paid by Wall Street, were assigning high ratings to these risky bonds.

Example Of A Scholarship Essay Examples
As an inspirational leader, I am devoted to mentoring those around me and fostering a feeling of
empowerment in everyone I know. My history and experiences have provided the tools necessary
to inspire and motivate my friends and family to feel what it means to receive hope, to survive
throughout life, and to never giving up to what is right.
Since I was eight years old, I ve been responsible for many of the household chores. Keeping the
house clean, washing dishes until they were sparkling clean, sweeping the floor dirty free, and
doing laundry while folding clothes perfectly, it really was an everyday kind of thing. Although,
my younger siblings, and my twin brother helped me in any step of the way, I was more of the

As the oldest sister in my family, sticking together and cooperating with one another is something
I really hold dear to me. To that measure, when I entered middle school, I would sometimes
convince my two male siblings to follow me to my little sister s school to pick her up. Back
when my grandma was alive, she would always tell us to stick together, that s what I told my
siblings, they took my word for it, and trailed behind me following me to the destination, however
it wasn t that long of a journey just a few blocks away from our school. It really didn t matter
about the location; as a leader, sticking together and not leaving anyone behind is something that I
do best, if that is not leading then who am I.
I have always admired leaders that dedicate their lives to making positive changes in our world.

Essay on Wikipedia and Its Credibility
Wikipedia and its Credibility
Wikipedia and its Credibility
The Wikipedia is a free, online encyclopedia that lets every individual with Internet connection
write and edits its articles. Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger launched their creation in 2001 giving
an opportunity to all willing people to work together to develop a common resource of knowledge.
Many people have different believes and ideas about Wikipedia, therefore, some tend to think of it
as a credible and valid source of information, others strongly disagree. Since all the books and
articles have been chosen for publication, each one has presumably undergone some form of
selection and review (Spatt, 2011, p. 339 340). Unfortunately, this statement is simply not enough to

Going straight to the source is the best way to check if the information in the article is reliable and
credible.
A New Tool to Check the Quality of Articles German professor Stock created a new tool that
allows checking the quality of articles posted on Wikipedia and stated,
Wiki Watch serves as a research tool indicating lack of sources and evaluating the reliability of
every entry made, using WikiTrust s color code system to display reputation of a text according
to the reputation and number of revisions by users. Wiki Watch analyzes every Wikipedia entry
ever created in a few seconds, checks the number of sources used in the article and the quality of
editing (para. 2). Wiki Watch uses a color codes system to check the reputation of the article by
figuring out how many times people revised the article. White color means reliable information;
therefore, yellow color has an opposite meaning. This system also checks for the credibility of the
article and emphasizes individual words used in the article.
Many Editors to Correct the Errors Wikipedia counts 75,000 editors who check the articles and
their content to make sure that the information is valid and reliable. According to Schaffer (2009),
the journal Nature conducted a study in 2005 and proved that Wikipedia is just as valid as any
other encyclopedia, including Britannica, keeping in mind that errors and vandalism can occur to
any of them (para. 2).

Like most modern films this has lots of quick snappy editing from one moment to the next. At
the very start is some good editing where there are pictures on top of pictures with a kissing
scene and scissors all intertwined as one. There is also a lot of cutting between facial
expressions and moving bodies all lapping over each other making the audience confused and
inquisitive to know what is happening. I feel that it is good because you get an insight of what
is happening, but the audience has no real idea what is going on. It is only until you see this
screen that Tom Cruise is working on that you can see what is happening. There is also a lot of
cutting in this film from what Tom Cruise is seeing and what is happening in real time. In the
opening clip for example you have you have the man murdering on screen then you have the
quiet family scene where everything is happening normally. I feel that this quick editing gives
the audience a chance to play along and see if they can work out how the quiet family scene at
breakfast goes from normal to completely insane like doing a jigsaw with no picture. I feel as a
viewer it is very sneaky how the producer managed to keep us guessing and thinking on how this
might occur. In the film there is also very quick editing when we are getting to the

SUV Case Study
Compact SUVs remain the preferred choice of many drivers, and the 2018 Subaru Forester near
Lafayette, LA is the one quite a few choose to take home. This vehicle comes with high ground
clearance and all wheel drive, making it the ideal vehicle for those who love to go off road and
explore new territory. While this model underwent major changes for the 2017 model year, Subaru
recognized there was still room for improvement and opted to make some modifications for 2018.
However, they chose to keep those things that have made this vehiclea consumer favorite since it
was first introduced, such as the spacious cabin, large cargo area and all wheel drive.
What s New for the 2018 Model Year

Thankfully, the climate control system keeps everyone at a comfortable temperature, even in the
cabin that is both airy and large.
The Interior
While the Forester has never been considered an industry leader when it comes to the interior,
this does not mean it is lacking in any way. Individuals can get in and out of the vehicle with ease,
even in the back, and those who have limited mobility will benefit from the generous ground
clearance and doors that open wide. Visibility is excellent all around, and the sunroof doesn t
detract from the headroom available. Everything in the cabin feels well built and solid, with most
materials being soft to the touch and nicely grained. The vehicle does come equipped with the
EyeSight safety suite that Subaru has become known for, a package that many drivers want when it
comes to their vehicle.
Versatility
Another area where the 2018 Subaru Forester stands out is in the versatility of the vehicle. Not
only can it handle off and on road conditions with ease, it is a very practical car. There is a great
deal of room for outdoor gear, musical instruments, groceries and more, so families can drive the
vehicle every day without hesitation. Drivers may opt for a power operated liftgate also, if they so
desire, and there are numerous compartments for the small items that seem to make it into every
vehicle. This includes cellphones,

MacKenzie et al.: Cognitive Radio and Networking Research at Virginia Tech often appear to learn and innovate, in turn, is characteristic of work in artificial intelligence. The astute reader will note that neither our definition of CR nor the primary factor motivating the introduction of these radios explicitly mentions dynamic spectrum access (DSA). Our distinction between CR and DSA is intentionalVwe believe that the application of cognitive techniques, while appropriate to enable DSA, is much broader than DSA alone. DSA, though, is important if only because of its looming presence as a Bkiller application[ for cognitive techniques. For nearly a century, allocation of spectrum throughout the world has been based on a model of static allocation. More recently, it has been realized that this model leads to gross inefficiencies. While the entire radio spectrum from 6 kHz to 300 GHz is allocated [2], at any given point in space and time, most of the spectrum is unused (e.g., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Softer Side of Resistance The Softer Side of Resistance Early Twentieth Century Italy, like the early Twentieth Century in the United States, was a time of promise for women s progress. The issues forming the women s rights platform seem basic and, especially because of our current placement in history, not too radical: the right to divorce, educational and employment rights, and perhaps most extreme, voting rights. In the early years of the Twentieth Century(although processes there were different from our concepts of democratic voting), some of these issues had even been brought to the ballot (Pickering Iazza, Mothers, p.38). And contrary to popular perception, during the early years of Mussolini s rule (which lasted from 1922 1943), public support for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 42). True to its totalitarian character, this plan brought the state even further into the peoples private lives. The Fascist government went as far as passing into law a bachelor tax. All eligible men aged twenty six to sixty five paid exorbitant taxes if they chose to stay single (De Grazia, p.69). The party outlawed birth control, held national childbearing contests, created monetary incentives for having at least seven children, and campaigned for a revision of beauty standards (De Grazia, ch. 3,4). Pursuing a goal that would mean more confining gender roles, for women and men alike, Mussolini went all out to get his way. In accordance with these ideals of womanhood, Mussolini saw to it that women s education was tailored to their future roles as mothers and keepers of the house. Now, if wealthy enough to be in school, women were taught, even at the university level, how to keep a home (Pickering Iazzi, Mothers p. 34). Mussolini also eliminated the most public display of women s potential political power, the right to vote. One would assume that from the outset of his rule, the Duce would strongly oppose this form of liberation for women. But his position wavered on this issue as much as it did in several other areas. In 1919, he answered in an interview: I am a supporter of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Lisfranc Fracture-Dislocation Case Study The Lisfranc fracture dislocation is characterised as an injury of the tarsometatarsal joints of the foot. This region of the foot is prone to injury due to the lack of ligaments separating the bases of the first and second metatarsals (Bontrager Lampignano, 2010). The Lisfranc joint articulates between the cuneiforms and cuboid of the foot, along with the distal end of metatarsals, and separates the forefoot from the midfoot. The joint can be seen from three different views in Figure 1 of the appendix (Kalia, Fishman, Carrino, Fayad, 2011). The clinical indications of a Lisfranc fracture dislocation include oedema and tenderness in the area of the midfoot. The injury is usually caused by the foot being overly plantar flexed, and is often associated with vehicular accidents and sporting injuries (Scolaro, Ahn Mehta, 2011). According to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the separation between the base of the first and second metatarsals is less than two millimetres, the recommended treatment is to cast and immobilise the foot until healed. However, the most common form of treatment is surgical and known as open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF). In Figure 4, a radiographic image shows how a surgical screw has been positioned to stabilise and internally fixate the Lisfranc fracture dislocation (Southerland, Boberg, Downey, Nakra Rabjohn, 2012). It has been suggested by Scolaro (2011) et al. that if the Lisfranc fracture dislocation is greater than two millimetres long term complications such as arthritis and damage to surrounding ligaments can occur. However, the likelihood of obtaining posttraumatic arthritis is decreased dramatically if ORIF surgery is performed soon after initial injury. If the Lisfranc fracture was a result of an athletic injury, pain and instability of the foot can occur and arthrodesis may be necessary for long term treatment (Saxena, ... All she could think about was the extra ten minutes she spent in bed that morning and whether or not it was worth it. Although these two bands do similar things with their music, the music itself is considerably different. I think the reason Phish is labeled Children of the Dead is because of their early years playing small gigs at Nector s bar in Vermont. They were just starting out, and did not have enough original songs to have a complete set list. This forced Phish to do many cover songs. Mike Gordon (bassist), the only real Dead fan in Phish coaxed his fellow band mates to cover some Grateful Dead tunes, along with covers from other various artists and their own originals. People should not stand back and allow the horrors around them to continue, but instead fight back in whatever way they can. Individuals who are in the minority, and thus unable to take drastic action, would benefit from the use of nonviolence. This strategy would allow Black Americans to seek justice and equality without truly disturbing the current relationship with White Americans. King s plan was to allow his religious and political ideals to run on the same moral edge, something that Reinhold Niebuhr had surely allowed for in his ideology (Branch, 81 7). Martin Luther King, Jr. was able to use this religious and moral idea of nonviolence to unite Black Americans who were tired of their oppression. Violence and drastic action had proven to arguably make their situation worse, meaning that something as different as peaceful civil disobedience could prove to work. By the time of the 1963 I Have a Dream speech at the March on Washington, King had become the voice of the various perspectives of life as a Black American. • 11. Mythology In Mythology Judging from the sources on the internet (unfortunately, one of them does include wikipedia) and the snippets I watched of the PBS documentary series that the book The Power of Myth is a companion for, one of Joseph s Campbell s most foundational ideas is that mythology is one of the primary sources of a given generation s cultural values, and it is a mechanism used to teach lessons or values to those young or new to a society. This thesis on mythology can be adapted to modern movies on Jesusbecause these movies contain unique alterations and spins on the religious stories on Jesus. In Godspell, the movie s use of a New York setting and a young, diverse cast translate the ministry of Jesus to the capitalism and peace struggle of the 1970s, and in Jesus Christ Superstar, the movie s young cast and secular themed songs translate the existence of Jesus to a generation becoming more and more scientific. As a result, Godspell remythologizes the ministry of Jesus to reflect and teach peace and deviation from the status quo, and Jesus Christ Superstar remythologizes Jesus as a figure to reflect a tension in understanding Jesus in a modern technological age. Because two different aspects of the 1970s culture is embodied in these modern Jesus myths, movies are a media used to remythologize Jesus to fit in with each coming generation s struggles, beliefs, and culture. The aspect of the 1970s that Godspell reflects is the conflict between peace and the status quo. During the 1970s, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Misogynistic Social Roles In Jane Austen s Pride And... The novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen depicts the endeavours of two sisters finding lovers in the late 18th century. Austen s novel takes place during the turning of the 19th century in Regency England, an age in which societal status is of the utmost importance and each individual is ranked based on their family name, wealth, and education. This common ideal of the time period is detrimental to the livelihood of the sisters and the probability of them marrying the men that they truly love. The novel portrays this common prejudice among the social classes, specifically when Mrs Bennet insists that her daughter marry a man in order to keep their estate, Mr. Darcy s initial dismissal of Elizabeth due to her class, and Miss Bingley s manipulation of her brother in order to maintain their families immaculate reputation. The Bennet household consists of Mr. Bennet, Mrs. Bennet, and their five daughters. As the story begins to unfold, it is revealed that Mr. Bennet s property is entailed, meaning that when he passes, nothing of his will be left to his wife or daughters, but will be directly inherited by the closest male relative. In revealing this detail, Austen illustrates the misogynistic social view of the time period which implies that only men should be held responsible for finances. Due to this circumstance, Mrs. Bennet finds herself frantically searching for suitors for her daughters while solely considering their wealth. In Jane s case, she is fortunate enough ... It served as a reaction to German music which dominated the musical scene at the time. It also allowed composers such as Stravinsky to form a greater presence in the musical scene. (Curran 2016 Nationalism in Music) The early music of Igor Stravinsky often shows nationalistic traits that reflect his Russian upbringing and influences. Second is the neoclassical period which starts in the early 1920s and ends in the early 1950s. This period sees Stravinsky move beyond nationalism in his music and includes works such as Octet for Wind Instruments (1923), Oedipus Rex (1927) and Symphony in C (1940). The third and final period of Stravinsky s works is the serialism period and includes works such as Canticum Sacrum (1955), Agon (1957) and Requiem Canticles (1966) (Griffiths; Szabo 2011; Taruskin White; Walsh). I will contend that, when deception is lying, it is immoral and I will give reasons for why this is the case. After my presentation, I will take a look at some possible criticisms of my arguments and then answer those criticisms. Then, I will present my conclusions. In Element 2, I will contend that people for whatever reason choose to lie about things in order to persuade others into thinking that the truth is on their side. Lying takes a group of actions or words that are clearly false to the perpetrator to try to bait someone into thinking that it is truthful. When deceptions are thought to be lies, it can be a very eerie situation because the person that was lied to did not get complete or enough adequate information of what was told. Yes, what someone said may have been truthful, but not all of the information was being told. The person receiving the information is left without additional pieces to the story although he or she does not know this, which makes the person assume that what you said was the end all be all to the situation. She s brought into the Spirit World through the curiosity and greediness of her parents. Miyazaki makes her life problematic because of the simple nature of humans. He realizes that the different negative characteristics that humans have within them lead them to trouble, even children. He claims that I m not going to make movies that tell children, You should despair and run away . (Hayao Miyazaki Quotes) With this in mind, Miyazaki attempts to show children that they re capable of overcoming problems even at the young age that they re at. Within the spirit world, the apparitions have negative plans for humans, specifically for the future of Chihiro. As if it wasn t enough for him to put the young girl in a setting with Spirits/Ghosts, he makes it so that these apparitions have negative plans in mind for the humans that they come in contact with. Miyazaki does this in order to put Chihiro in a situation that the audience would see as extremely difficult. He then adds onto Chihiro s circumstances by creating a complex environment that she has to live in while she s in the spirit world. He places her in an spa/inn run by a deranged woman who cares more for her gigantic baby than the spa/inn itself. Miyazaki planned and created many different angles of the building in order to depict to the audience the type of situation that Chihiro is to be put in. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Leadership Of The Church And Its Mission This course has helped me prepare for ministry in the twenty first century by enlightening me in areas and categories I knew nothing about. Hosea 4:6, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thouhast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children . Knowledge is powerful, and the desire to obtain it, especially when it s conducive to our walk of faith should be something we strive to achieve daily. There are several areas in ministry, and church affairs that I have a general knowledge of now, after taking this course. The very first chapter Transformational leadership in a technological age in our textbook captivated my attention. It gives an understanding of the church and how it s viewed. The purpose of the church and its mission is information all believers should know and understand in order to serve and lead effectively. I realize in order to minister productively and persuasively I need to be abreast of the times in which we live. This world has changed drastically, and the channels we use in order to minister to this dying world needs to as well, without compromising the word of God, our standards, or our integrity. This course allowed me to think differently about ministry and observe it from a different perspective. The means of creating successful offspring are often paved through distinctive selection, which are often tailored to specific genetic traits that one or more partners possess. These concepts are a biological component that drives humans to reproduce with specific individuals. Since humans are unable to procreate by asexual means, the selection of a mate and their genetic information are highly important in concepts of reproduction. As we are living in a cold period in the history of the earth s climate, small temperature changes are attributed to increased levels of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. The important question is: how will these changes, man made or otherwise, impact existing species? One easily observed example is Emperor penguins, residents of the shores and ice shelves of Antarctica. With increasing temperature of the ocean, the sea ice where they live melts, eliminating nesting areas, the sea levels rise, reducing shore habitat, and food supply becomes limited. The penguins main diet consists of krill, fish, and squid. Antarctic krill populations, their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ones residing on the northern coast of Antarctica are prone to ice melting, due to the increasing temperatures in the spring which shorten the ice season. Those on the southern coast are of least concern due to the fact that the temperature there fluctuates less drastically. Regarding the penguins nesting places, immense ice sheets are essential for them to hatch and raise chicks; during the ice season, Emperor penguins march 60 100 miles to their rookery around May, where they lay, incubate, and hatch their eggs. Usually, the chicks begin fledging about December and the adults leave. However, if the ice season is shorter due to warmer temperatures, the ice breaks earlier. Before the baby penguins can fully fledge and retain waterproof and swimming capabilities, the only habitat they know is swallowed into the ocean. Then, the immature chicks, unable to swim, are swept into the sea where they drown. The quintessential nesting grounds of Emperor penguins allow for expansion of their species. After all, predation by leopard seals and killer whales naturally reduces the population, and they must repopulate to sustain. The specific, freezing march of Emperor penguins to their nesting grounds was displayed in the acclaimed French documentary March of the Penguins. The documentary was recorded in the southern region of Antarctica, where temperatures recorded have less effect on the early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Theory And Developments Of The Direct Injection,... Abstract This paper reviews the concepts and developments of the direct injection, stratified charge combustion engine; focusing on 4 stroke petrol commercial automotive applications. Introduction The main objective of the direct injection (DI) stratified charge engine is to combine the benefits of the petrol spark ignition (SI) engine, controlled and complete combustion of charge at full load; and diesel compression ignition (CI) engines, lean burning and higher compression ratios and efficiencies[1]. Direct injection Spark Ignition (Petrol Engine) Direct injection spark ignition (DISI) engines are relatively new to the large scale commercial market, and are slowly becoming more widespread. The demands for higher performance whilst realizing lower fuel consumption and maintaining cleaner emissions, have the potential to be met by the direct injection spark ignition engine[2]. The thermodynamic potential of DISI engines DISI engines have the potential to have greater fuel economy that diesel engines at partial loadings though use of stratified charge and late fuel injection; and have better performance than the naturally aspirated spark ignition engines at high loads by operating under stoichiometric or slightly rich conditions utilizing early fuel injection [3]. There are two basic strategies for preparing the air fuel mixture used in direct injection technology. Figure 1 illustrates the preparation of air fuel mixtures used to optimize both partial and higher loads. At ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through today s language, once politics are involved, one tends to become ugly and even foolish at times. How does one detect propaganda? There is quite a few types of pollution in the world, but the three main ones I want to address are the types of pollution that affect Humans and animals. The three main types of pollution that can negatively affect humans and animals are air, water, and soil pollution. Air pollution is a type of pollution that occurs when harmful substances, including particulates and biological molecules are introduced into Earth s atmosphere. There is a lot of chemicals that get released into the atmosphere when fossil fuels are burned; the effects that these chemicals have on our bodies when inhaled can be very detrimental to our health and well being. A few things that can occur when we breathe in polluted air are; firstly, you are put at a higher risk of respiratory diseases such as asthma and bronchitis. Second, exposure to higher levels of particle pollution have been shown to correspond to higher risks of heart complications. Third, immune system, endocrine, and reproductive system damage; which can lead to future health complications. Four, when living in an area with lots of air pollution you are being put at higher risks for cancer. The pollutants in the air mostly contain of carcinogens; any substance, radionuclide, or radiation that is an agent directly involved in causing cancer. Five, contact with the air pollution can lead to neurobehavioral problems and premature death. These are a few of the main effects that air pollution has on humans. Air pollution can also negatively affect animals, here are a few ways on how it can. The first way that air pollution can negatively affect animals are from acid rain. Acid rain is an acidic form of rain, meaning that it contains high levels of hydrogen ions; having a low pH balance of around 5.7. The acid rain can destroy the life of fish in lakes and streams. Had Kennedy remained President from 1964 1968, the lessons acquired from Cuba and Berlin would have prevented an escalation in Vietnam. Kennedy viewed getting involved in Vietnam as a disruption to his foreign policy goals. One of Kennedy s primary concerns during the Cold War was preventing escalation with the Soviet Union, it was a larger concern to him than to his advisors. The United States lacked support from other major countries and by interfering in Vietnam, the relationship with China that Kennedy wanted would have been negatively impacted. Kennedy s priority during the Cold War was to defuse conflicts in Europe, and Vietnam would have been a secondary struggle with no real benefit. Kennedy demonstrated his skepticism to his advisor s proposals by rejecting Rostow s Berlin proposals. As a second term President, Kennedy would only have more freedoms when making foreign policy decisions. • 37. Zoo Observation Essay Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Los Angeles zoo on a beautiful, sunny Thursday (October 19th). Although I arrived off schedule which left a minimal amount of time to observe primates, I managed my time well. After being told that the larger animals get put away earlier, I figured my first stop would be at an ape enclosure. The ape I chose to see that day was the gorilla. The time that I began my observation was at approximately 3:05. At that time only one ape was quite visible and he was sitting at the front making eye contact with me making it seem as if he is HABITUATED. Next, post gorilla watching, I had the chance to take a gander at the ring railed lemurs at 3:40. These prosimians all had their own personalities which interested me deeply. Lastly, and certainly not least on my journey through the LA zoo, I had the chance of looking at the mandrills which were once classified as baboons. Considering that two baby mandrills were present and only a month old, this was my favorite exhibit to see because of their high energy and randomness of actions. Beginning with the most intelligent of the bunch, the (western lowland) gorillas I observed were quite inactive. This is certainly so because they are known to only be hunted by man leaving no competition outside of their own species. This fact makes it apparent why these kings of the jungle sit around so often. In the wild and even in zoos it may be difficult for a male to find mates because groups of gorillas are POLYGYNOUS. So usually one male is the father of all of the offspring. Being this way, male gorillas must display DOMINANCE over others and even stand their ground against an incoming male that may threaten the family. Going back to how they sit all day, gorillas are able to do this because they don t even have to move to replenish energy for the reason that they are grass and leaf eaters (vegetarians). Not having to move very much makes gorillas capable of having a low quality diet. Moving forward, ring tailed lemurs showed the greatest amount of ALTRUISM. They kindly groomed each other for an extensive amount of time, showing a great bond between one another. Also, their ability to move quickly and jump high showed off their MOTOR ... Dr. Martin Luther King with his I have a dream speech and Harriet Tubman, who was a slave used her last bit of energy to help other to freedom, through my eyes these people were true heroes. • 42. Essay on Wikipedia and Its Credibility Wikipedia and its Credibility Wikipedia and its Credibility The Wikipedia is a free, online encyclopedia that lets every individual with Internet connection write and edits its articles. Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger launched their creation in 2001 giving an opportunity to all willing people to work together to develop a common resource of knowledge. Many people have different believes and ideas about Wikipedia, therefore, some tend to think of it as a credible and valid source of information, others strongly disagree. Since all the books and articles have been chosen for publication, each one has presumably undergone some form of selection and review (Spatt, 2011, p. 339 340). Unfortunately, this statement is simply not enough to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Going straight to the source is the best way to check if the information in the article is reliable and credible. A New Tool to Check the Quality of Articles German professor Stock created a new tool that allows checking the quality of articles posted on Wikipedia and stated, Wiki Watch serves as a research tool indicating lack of sources and evaluating the reliability of every entry made, using WikiTrust s color code system to display reputation of a text according to the reputation and number of revisions by users. Wiki Watch analyzes every Wikipedia entry ever created in a few seconds, checks the number of sources used in the article and the quality of editing (para. 2). Wiki Watch uses a color codes system to check the reputation of the article by figuring out how many times people revised the article. White color means reliable information; therefore, yellow color has an opposite meaning. This system also checks for the credibility of the article and emphasizes individual words used in the article. Many Editors to Correct the Errors Wikipedia counts 75,000 editors who check the articles and their content to make sure that the information is valid and reliable. According to Schaffer (2009), the journal Nature conducted a study in 2005 and proved that Wikipedia is just as valid as any other encyclopedia, including Britannica, keeping in mind that errors and vandalism can occur to any of them (para. 2). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ====================================================================== Like most modern films this has lots of quick snappy editing from one moment to the next. At the very start is some good editing where there are pictures on top of pictures with a kissing scene and scissors all intertwined as one. There is also a lot of cutting between facial expressions and moving bodies all lapping over each other making the audience confused and inquisitive to know what is happening. I feel that it is good because you get an insight of what is happening, but the audience has no real idea what is going on. It is only until you see this screen that Tom Cruise is working on that you can see what is happening. There is also a lot of cutting in this film from what Tom Cruise is seeing and what is happening in real time. In the opening clip for example you have you have the man murdering on screen then you have the quiet family scene where everything is happening normally. I feel that this quick editing gives the audience a chance to play along and see if they can work out how the quiet family scene at breakfast goes from normal to completely insane like doing a jigsaw with no picture. I feel as a viewer it is very sneaky how the producer managed to keep us guessing and thinking on how this might occur. In the film there is also very quick editing when we are getting to the ...
