Essay Biodiversity
Crafting an essay on the intricate subject of biodiversity is undeniably challenging, requiring a
delicate balance between scientific precision and engaging prose. The depth and breadth of the
topic demand extensive research, encompassing ecological principles, species interactions,
conservation efforts, and the profound impact of human activities on ecosystems.
The challenge lies in presenting a comprehensive understanding of biodiversity while avoiding
the pitfall of overwhelming the reader with technical jargon. Striking the right tone, bridging the
gap between accessibility and accuracy, becomes a tightrope walk. It involves distilling complex
concepts into digestible information without oversimplifying the essence of biodiversity.
Moreover, the dynamic nature of the field adds another layer of difficulty. The constant
evolution of research findings and the emergence of new perspectives necessitate an up-to-date
approach. Keeping abreast of the latest scientific developments is not just a challenge but a
necessity to provide an insightful and relevant exploration of the topic.
Creating an impactful essay also involves conveying a sense of urgency regarding the current
biodiversity crisis. Addressing the pressing issues of habitat loss, climate change, and species
extinction requires a delicate balance between raising awareness and inspiring positive action.
Balancing the grim realities with a call to optimism can be a challenging task, as it involves
navigating the fine line between acknowledging the severity of the problem and instilling hope
for a sustainable future.
In conclusion, writing an essay on biodiversity demands a multifaceted approach, encompassing
scientific rigor, accessibility, and a nuanced understanding of the complex interplay between
nature and human activities. It's a challenging endeavor that requires not only knowledge but
also a keen sense of communication to effectively convey the urgency of preserving our planet's
rich biological diversity.

Object Analysis Oinochoe
Billie Ingram Sofokleous bi387 Object Description
The object is an Ancient Greek ceramic pot known as an Attic vase produced using
clay. Having looked on the British Museum database, a stamnos 1 vase used for
storing liquids. The vase was decorated using a fine clay slip...a liquid mixture of clay
and water which would eventually turn black during the firing process 2.
The shape of the vase is squat and a rounded hollow shape with stout handles that
curl upwards to help with handling. It looks to be high sided and broad shouldered
for a functional purpose. It has a low foot and low red waved patterned neck
described as maeanders 3 and lip. After looking on the British Museum website, the
image is seen with a decorative lid that is substantial to ensure the protection of its

The Human Resources Department Of An Organization Or...
1.Please briefly explain why you chose to interview this person:
I ended up interviewing Jennifer Noonan who works in the Human Resources
Student Employment Department in University Housing. I choose to interview her
because I work in housing and I was able to get in contact with her fairly easily. I
also hope to work in the field of Management and Human resources, so I wanted to
interview someone in that field to get a sense of what the career entails.
2.What are at least four things you learned from your informational interview about
your contact s career path/job responsibilities, employer, and/or industry?
Jennifer explained to me the basic role of the human resources department of an
organization or corporation. I learned that it s one of the most important aspects of
a business, because they are the ones who make sure all of the other departments
are running as efficient as possible. Helping with the hiring process of new
employees is something I didn t know HR is a part of, and they help hiring
managers find the best possible candidates and make sure everything is in place for
their future employment. Jennifer also informed me that the role of HR is
constantly changing, and the old stereotypes of HR being the sticklers or the mean
people is slowly changing. Human resources job is to follow and enforce the rules of
the government and corporation, and that s why they were always portrayed
negatively.

Symbolism In Forrest Gump
Traversing Through the Unknown
People tend to find meaning in all aspects of life, and they rely and examine symbols
to gain further insight into their life. Symbolism is prevalent in numerous films,
however, in the 1994 film Forrest Gump by Robert Zemeckis intertwines symbolism
to introduce the general themes of the film. In the film Forrest Gump the filmmaker
focuses on the interesting life of Forrest Gump. Forrest Gump is an innocent honest
man, who like many, has overcome adversity to achieve success. This same
adversity helps Forrest and his general outlook on life. Through all these obstacles,
he is an all star football, receives an honorary medal in the Vietnam war and sets up a
successful shrimp business. As the film progresses, Robert Zemeckis, does an
excellent job of adding important symbols that help the audience gain a better
understanding of the characters and the film itself. This adversity and perspective
on life is personified through objects such as the box of chocolates which represent
uncertainty, the feather which appears at the beginning and the end and
furthermore, the concept of running is a repetitious symbol in the film, all have
important roles in shaping the lives of characters portrayed in the film. Forrest
Gump s quote about life being a box of chocolates is well known around the world;
however, one when analyzes this, it unlocks an understanding of the film, and to a
degree life as well. Almost everyone has eaten a box of

Pandas of the Wild
The face of World Wildlife Fund since 1961, the giant panda has become
synonymous with the plight of conservation. These iconic black and white bears,
known for their distinctive black eye patches and affinity for bamboo, are loved and
admired by billions of people across the world. However, despite their celebrity status
in the animal kingdom and worldwide conservation efforts, these unique mammals
are still endangered: only an estimated 1,200 2,400 pandas exist in the wild today.

Naturalists like Chris Packham have argued that the captive panda breeding programs
are pointless because there is not enough habitat left to sustain them. Additionally,
pandas are notoriously ineffective breeders, whether in the wild or captivity.
Desperate breeders have tried every option, from giving pandas Viagra to making
them watch panda porn; however, only artificial insemination has been successful,
albeit partly. Thus, many people like Packham argue that our energy and money is
better spent elsewhere.
Save the Pandas:
Besides being a prestigious cultural icon and a Chinese national treasure, pandas are a
precious commodity that drives tourism and offers a huge revenue stream for the
zoos and tourist hubs that host them.
Organizations like the WWF, Giant Panda Conservation Centre, as well as the
Chinese government are funding more than 50 panda reserves throughout China.
Although they have their own UNESCO World Heritage Site designation (the
Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries, which span over seven natural reserves), panda
populations will continue to decrease if we continue to encroach on their habitat and
pollute their environment.

Critique Of The Movie Gasland
Gasland: A Movie Critique The documentary Gasland, directed by Josh Fox
provides insight on the effects of living in a natural gas driven society. The film
features Josh Fox s search to discover how natural gas companies operate and the
unseen consequences people have to live with as a result of corporate greed. Fox
becomes curious about the gas industry in 2009 when he receives a letter from
government regulators asking if he will relinquish his property for one hundred
thousand dollars because it is located on the Marcellus shale, commonly known as
the middle east of the United States. He fears that signing his property over will
contaminate the Delaware River water supply. The Pennsylvania EPA informs the
public that their water is still clean even though entire neighborhoods have seen their
water fizzle because it is contaminated with natural gases. This prompts him to go on
a journey to see how other communities have been... Show more content on

Furthermore, it is subjective because Josh Fox s reasoning behind creating the film
was solely because he experienced the negative outcomes due to fracking in his
hometown, and most likely would not have created this work if it were not for his
negative experience. Fox strengthens his argument by interviewing normal citizens all
across the United States. These are accurate and real instances of how the general
public has been taken advantage of by the natural gas industry. By interviewing
regular people, such as the man who loved lighting his water on fire, Fox captures
their personalities allowing the audience to genuinely relate and feel for these
people. He also interviews a man by the name of Westin Wilson, an EPA regulator,
and even though he works for the natural gas industry he believes the industry is
unjust and operates
The 1941 Film, Citizen Kane,
History has rendered a variety of timeless art. The works have included multiple
genres, such as paintings, music, theatre, and photography. Each of the
aforementioned genres have attributed to an additional ageless art form. Film may
be identified as an art form that combines multiple genres to produce classic work.
This is specifically revealed by an Orson Wellesmovie. The 1941 film, Citizen Kane,
may be considered a classic based on extensive research. Throughout history, the film
is repeatedly rated as one of the greatest films ever produced. Various elements such
as storytelling and technique have contributed to the recognition and acclaim attained
by the film. During the era in which the film was produced, Citizen Kane
revolutionized film making and remains relevant today. Despite the initial response to
the film, Citizen Kane is a definite classic.
Two primary themes within the film contribute to the recognition and acclaim
generated by Citizen Kane. The themes are buried beneath the visual muddle of the
film itself. First, the theme regarding the disparagement of the private disposition of
the municipal figure contribute to the esteem of the film. (Carringer) Next, the theme
regarding the overwhelming force of materialism may be identified as a defining
factor of the film, Citizen Kane. Viewed in unison, the themes encompass the
poignant irony of the triumphant success of an American. The tale takes a drastic
turn and winds up revealing the demise, lonesomeness,
Analysis Of 50 First Dates
The movie 50 First Dates is about a tragic head injury and its effects on memory
that takes place in Hawaii. In the movie, the main character, Lucy, experiences a
terrible car accident that involved hitting a tree and resulted in short term memory
loss. Lucy had her long term memory and was able to recall everything prior to the
actual accident. However, Lucy was unable to retain and store new memories after
a night s sleep. Each morning Lucy would wake up and think it was Sunday,
October 13th, her father s birthday. Lucy s father and brother worked hard each
night in order to undo any changes for the next day. This was the routine that
happened daily until Henry Roth came along. Henry Roth worked as a veterinarian
at an aquarium until he could finish his boat that he wanted to sail to Bristol Bay
to study walruses, a plan he had for ten years. Henry was a man who had trouble
committing to relationships. Henry was known for short lived relationships with
women who were vacationing in Hawaii. Henry walks into a diner one day and
spots Lucy sitting alone. After a few visits to this diner Henry finds the courage to
talk to Lucy and make a breakfast date. Following their meeting, Henry is informed
of Lucy s condition and thinks she s the perfect girl for him; no commitment since
every night she forgets what happened that day. After creating multiple forced
encounters, Henry begins to realize he really likes Lucy. Lucy s father and brother

My field experience has been wonderful so far for the first semester. I have gained
valuable information for the last couple on months interning at my agency. For this
self evaluation I will be describing the1 3 and 6 9 competencies I set up at the
beginning of the semester and see if I have achieved these skills. I will also address
the growth and challenges I have come upon throughout this semester. For
competency one on processional and ethical practice I wanted to demonstrate having
a professional behavior, communication, boundaries, and writing skills throughout the
semester. I also wanted to provide integrity, competence, core values, services,
dignity, and worth in the agency and my clients. In addition being aware of the
mandating reporting, parental consent, and legal consent in the school setting. I feel
the growth in this competency I have gained a lot by the agency in proving lots of
training, group supervision, and individual supervision has not only broaden my
skills but have gained valuable knowledge of what to do in certain situations. For
some of the challenges I encounter at the beginning was learningabout mandating
reporting and how much work it goes into calling, summiting the paperwork all this
is a curial aspect when doing a CWS report. For example, when doing my first
mandated report my supervisor stayed and walk me through each step to make sure I
did it correctly which was wonderful and learned the right way to do a mandated
report.

Have Fun While Doing Workout Essay
Have fun while doing workouts here are the games that transform work into play
Almost everyone is running behind a machine life in this era. People have lots of
works to do in their life. And for some, exercise is just one more work in their
routine. Some will be frustrated while doing workouts. It is easy to lose motivation
during the weight reduce plan. So, making the workout fun is the most important
thing; for this, it is better to try a physical activity that actually brings the fun out of
the person.
Sports are the perfect choice for this. But for the people who don t have the
competitive attitude, play based workouts are the best and simpler alternative. Plenty
of science suggests that play is the best activity for brains of adults. The real reason
behind turning a workout into a play station is people should encourage and induce
working out.

One person should hold the cards. Both players should be in a split squat position.
To start playing, take a large step forward with the right leg, descending till the left
leg almost touches the ground. At tom of the split squat both the knees will form
right angles. The knee should be above the toe but it should not be in front.
In this situation, the player with the deck throws one card at a time towards their
partner. The partner must catch cards while they maintain their lung position, they
can lean left, right, up, and down to catch the card. The partner can try to catch 5 10
cards, then they can rest and they can switch the legs and they can change thrower
and catcher roles.
Fitness benefits of the game
Leaning aside from side to side and reaching up and down will increase the core
stability to all the movements. Trying to maintain the position will mean to balance
and the player has to prepare for the unexpected shifts.

Caffeine And Amine Lab Report
In this experiment, I was unable to complete the tests that would suggest isolation
success. If the melting point of the experimental caffeine was tested, the experimental
melting point would need to be 238o Celsius to be successfully isolated. A melting
point lower than this would suggest that the isolate was impure. If a TLC plate was
performed on the crude caffeine and the isolate, the crude would have multiple
retention factor values while the isolate, if isolated successfully, should only have one
retention factor. If an IR spectrum was performed, the spectrum should only show
functional groups in caffeine such as amides and amines, and should not include
functional groups like phenyls or esters. If the IR spectrum includes functional...

This is different from just making tea because the goal is to make the liquid for the
centrifuge tubes as concentrated as possible. When making tea for enjoyment and
consumption, the tea is in a larger amount of water and is usually only steeped for
three to five minutes. Tea for enjoyment is not intended to be extremely
concentrated (in fact, most people would dilute the tea if it is too strong). In this
experiment, potassium carbonate acts as a base. Potassium carbonate would
dissociate into potassium ions (K+) and carbonate ions (CO3 2 ). Carbonate ions
would undergo acid base reactions with the tannins, which then allows the tannins to
be water soluble. However, this makes the tannins far less soluble in the organic
layer, allowing it to separate from that layer after centrifuging. Because caffeine has
dipoles, and thus is polar, it is likely to dissolve in methylene chloride because it is
also polar. This means that methylene chloride and caffeine would be in the same
layer after centrifuging, separating from the inorganic layer. Water in the mixture
exists in the inorganic layer and is used to isolate the caffeine from the tannins from
the tea
Cellular Technology Has Developed A Long Way From Its...
Chapter 1
Introduction
The cellular technology has developed a long way from its existence in the early
1980 s. In the past few decades it has grown into one of the biggest market with the
rise of cell phone users, the cellular network providers and cell phone makers have
grown in immense amount. Cellular technologies have evolved from first generation
(1G), second generation (2G), third generation (3G) and to its current technology
which is fourth generation (4G) which is also known as Long Term Evolution (LTE).
Fig 1.1 Evolution of Cellular technology
The first generation (1G) only provided users with voice communication in its
second generation (2G) the service was expanded to voice and data communication
in which the system capacity was also improved. Second generation or 2G wireless
technology is also known as Global Systems for Mobile Communications (GSM) and
Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA). The third generation (3G) was a
revolution in the cellular technology the data rates increased immensely from 2G,
3G is also known as Wideband CDMA (WCDMA) and CDMA 2000. The current
cellular technology that are in existence is fourth generation (4G) also known as
Long Term Evolution (LTE), which can theoretically provide data rates up to 100
Mbps.
Evolution of Cellular Technology
The first generation (1G) system was developed and implemented in 1981 in
Norway which used Advanced Mobile Phone System (AMPS), US and UK later
followed similar technology for developing
How I Changed My Life Forever
The one choice that changed my life forever was that our family emigrated from
Hong Kong to Canada in 1974. I was only seven years old. My Chinese name is Sau
Han and this is my immigration history. My family came to Canada for a job offer
but mainly it was for a better life. I had to leave behind many loving familymembers
in Hong Kong. We also left behind our old lives, furniture, car, apartment, and
friends. Our journey began when we hopped on a JAL (Japan airlines) jumbo jet
on a sixteen hour flight to Vancouver, British Columbia with a brief stop over in
Tokyo, Japan. Everything looked foreign to us on our arrival. What we hoped in
the future was to be able to learn English, to adapt to our foreign surroundings, to
settle down in our new home, and to go back to visit our friends and relatives in
Hong Kong. These challenges are just the first of many obstacles to be faced. This
immigration was not just a new beginning for my family but also a window of
opportunity for the next generation. We had an intriguing story of how we
immigrated to Canada. My family consisted of myself, my mom and dad, my older
brother, Chi Hung, my older sister, Sau Seng, and my younger brother, Chi Wai. We
lived in a descent three bedroom apartment in the New Territories, Hong Kong. On
November, 1973, I vividly remembered my dad s ex employer, Mr. Chow, called
long distance from Vancouver, Canada and offered my dad a dim sum chef position
in his restaurant, the Golden

Slave Narrative In History
Chapter 3 contains the aftermath of the ending of slavery in Washington and
Turnage s lives and how they proceeded their lives as the first freed . Of course,
being in charge of their own lives a lot of responsibility came along especially since
they had families to care for. For example, finding shelter in safe grounds, and
feeding themselves. Washington Turnage had to work several jobs to make living
such as waiter, clerk, secretary and the common laboring. The slaves now had to bring
the knowledge that they had brought with them from slavery, freed people educated
children nurtured a community increasingly surrounded by a racially hostile world,
found spiritual solace, gathered their scattering families and took ownership of their
lives (pg 95). The church played a key role in uniting African Americans and helping
build a community with one another. Church provided faith, jobs and shelter.
During this time Fredrick Douglas also contributed knowledge to the community.

Little did they know, their narratives would help understand slave life in a different
context. Which ties to the theme of History, what is the role of the slave narrative
in history? and how can there be new history when more documentaries like this are
found? Well, the role of slave narratives help us remember and honor what millions
of Africans and people suffered. Not only that, helps us visualize the growth of our
nation. I personally think when more documentaries like this our found we should
embark on investigating those who owned plantations and had pure hatred because,
some people aren t over the Confederate times and could still be attacking people of
color til this day.
Should There Be More or Less Laws Leading Abortion
Essay
There are many reasons why abortions are performed. The main way of looking at
abortion can be summarized in five points: birth control issues, human rights, legal
precedence, when life begins, and religious reasons. (Abortions allowed women to
pursue their educational goals.)(Hill, 2007) Based on both moral and empirical
claims, a wide variety of views supporting either less or more legal restriction on
abortions has enlarged in America. While advocacy groups define the issue through
its moral and constitutional represented by their citizens, representatives define the
issue by party lines, normally with liberals as pro choice and traditionalists as pro
life. The media defines the issue ethically, presenting to the land the views of... Show

Wade. Thus, the Presidential selection of Justices leaves abortionas a hot topic for
political applicants. Before digging deeper into the current or past debates on an
issue like abortion, it is important to look simply at the fact of its existence in the
United States. Permitting to studies released in 2005 by The Guttmacher Institute
and the Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health (PRCH), there were 1.29
million abortions performed in the United States, research by the same group
shows that in 1994, about half of all pregnancies in the country were unintended,
with only approximately partial of those really ending in abortion. In contrast to
other nations, the United States accounted for 3% of universal abortions in 1995
(PRCH and Guttmacher). A modern legal choice that affects the validity of
abortion is the Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004 created after the Laci
Peterson case. This act has made it so that a vicious crime against an expecting
woman counts as two different crimes; one against the woman alone and the other
one against the unborn child. This has additional to the debated nature of the issue
because it seems like an inconsistency to allow the fetus to be considered a person
in wrong proceedings, however allow abortion to be legal. It is inconsistent to
provide a fetus rights as a human while still

Unit 3 Fibonacci Research
The ratio between two Fibonacci numbers is very close to the golden ratio, which is
1+521.61803399. The table and graph below demonstrate this. In the table, I found
the ratios by dividing a Fibonacci term by the one before it and then subtracted that
from the golden ratio to find the deviation. For example, consider the third Fibonacci
term, 2, and the second term, 1. The ratio between the two is 21=2. The deviation
from the golden ratio is 2 1.61803399=0.38196601. These ratios are plotted on the

This is because Phi and phi are irrational numbers and the program I used to do my
calculations are limited in the decimal places that it can calculate. And just like the
last formula, this one is only accurate when n2. A similar formula can be used to
find the nth Fibonacci number, called Binet s formula: fn=15((1+52)n (1
52)n).Here s an example using n = 5: f5=15((1+52)5 (1 52)5) f5=4.91934955 The
table below compares the values from this formula to the Fibonacci sequence.
Again, there are rounding limitations and this formula only works when n2. This
isn t a big problem though because the first Fibonacci number will always be 1.
During my research, I learned that there is a close relationship between the
Fibonacci and Lucas series, and that either of these series can be used to find an
equation for the nth term of the other. I put the first 15 terms of both these series in a
table to compare them and to find equations for the nth term. From this table, I notice
that the sum of alternate Fibonacci numbers (fn 1+fn+1) equals the Lucas number
that s in between those numbers (ln). The formula then for the nth Lucas number
using Fibonacci numbers is ln=fn 1+fn+1. Here s an example when n=4: l4=f4

What Is The Theme Of The Lightning Thief
Book Review Choosing a good book to read may not be an easy task at times because
we tend to choose a book by its cover or abandon the book if we don t like it. My
advice is to pick a book that catches your eye, read a synopsis or perhaps even a book
review to see if it s of your liking. If you enjoy reading Greek Mythologies and tales
of a brave young boy whose life had completely changed when he found out he was
son of Poseidon God of the Sea, then I would strongly recommend this book The

Symbolic Interactionism In The Media
Media has been one of the biggest influence in any person s life no matter what age
they are. They are so many forms of media which makes it almost impossible to
avoid everyday, and with the advancement of technology it is only going to get
worse. Therefore, since it is almost impossible to avoid media, companies use this to
their advantage to send out messages or advertise their products through the media. In
addition to advertisingthrough media, businesses send out subliminal messages with
symbolic interactionism. Symbolic interactionism is a sociological perspective that is
influential in many areas of the sociological discipline, meaning that symbols are
used to promote a certain action from someone, but in this case I am referring to
companies promoting consumer participation through magazines and television
shows.
Magazine reading has gone down in the past decade, but it is still a great way to
advertise. Since the amount of people reading magazines have gone down, magazine
companies use symbolic interactionism in a very unique way. The method is that they
sell their magazines outside or near where multiple ... Show more content on

One common form of symbolic interactionism is contests or sweepstakes to have
the audience participate in different aspects of the show other than watching the
show such as downloading apps or purchasing certain products associated with the
show. An example of this would be the popular show Walking Dead (AMC) which
airs on TV network AMC. While watching an episode of the show, there is a
sweepstakes called Dead Sweepstakes which incorporates giving out two code
words during both commercial breaks that leads to prizes. Also, the TV series has
video games, figures, and apps to increase profit and advertise the show. Overall, the
consumer s own interest is their downfall because they are forced to see those
advertisements and they sometimes succumb to

(case 20) presents a go/no go project evaluation regarding improvements to a
polypropylene production plant. The B case (case 21) reviews the same project but
from one level higher, where the executive faces an either/or investment decision
between two mutually exclusive projects. The objective of the two cases is to

point of objection is her inclusion of the right of way in the analysis. A brief
discussion should establish that the option of the right of way should be exercised
regardless of whether the project at the Rotterdam plant is undertaken. Therefore, the
cash flows associated with the right of way should be separated from the rest of the

The Invention Of Gunpowder
The creation of gunpowder goes back to the late 19th century during the late tang
dynasty. Gunpowder was created accidentally by the Chinese while creating a potion
for the pursuit of immortality, the Chinese added gunpowder as one of the FOUR
GREAT INVENTIONS. Gunpowder also brought new inventions to the 19th century.
It brought new technology for military wise, a new type of warfare developed.
Gunpowderempires began to develop known as the ottoman, Safadi, and Mughal.
They were among the most strongest, successful and powerful with the gunpowder.

develop new machines and technology. Gunpowder was a great inventionbecause the
way it helped to develop new ways of combat helped gather new technology.
Gunpowder has been successful throughout many ages still to this day gunpowder
is still successful. Gunpowder was created for many uses, but it also had its
purposes. The impact that gunpowder had was big because it helped empires grow
mad with power, every gunpowder empire will try to overthrow another empire just
to regain more gunpowder and become even more powerful. Gunpowder also
spread like wildflowers it reached Europe, India, Britain and Ireland, Indonesia, and
the middle east. Gunpowder was first named black powder but then they changed it
to gunpowder. Gunpowder was very dangerous and it is highly explosive flammable,
it was good for making bombs, bullets, explosives, and

Texas Legislature Research Paper
Organization in the Texas Legislature The Texas legislature, as stated by Champagne,
Harpham, Casellas, is a bicameral legislature compromised of two chambers. That is,
the Senate and the Texas House of Representatives (2017, p. 211). It includes 31
senators and 150 House members. The legislature serves as the most critical
establishment that aids in representing the state (Champagne et al., 2017, p.211).
Members of the Texas state legislature must meet the essential requirements, perform
their duties to the best of their ability, represent citizens, and attend sessions. In order
to become a member of the Texas state legislature, there are certain demands that
must be met. A senator, for example, must be twenty six or older, a U.S. citizen,

For instance, the Speaker of the House must set the agenda, appoint chairs of
committees and, have an impact over what gets voted on in the legislature
(Champagne et al., 2017, p.209). Another important persona in the state legislature is
the lieutenant governor; the president of the state senate. He is held accountable for
setting the legislative agenda and appointing committee chairs (Champagne et al.,
2017, p.210). Moreover, the committee system of the state legislature must work
together to perform more common governmental tasks. Such as, when the Texas
Senate and House members work together to pass a new law (Champagne et al.,
2017, p. 211 212). All members of the Texas state legislature should have one
common motive. That is, to represent the citizens of their state. Champagne et. al.
states that ...members...are responsible for bringing the interests and concerns of
their constituencies directly into the democratic political processes (2017, p.211). In
order to effectively do so, a member of the Texas House will represent roughly
168,000 citizens while a senator may represent more than 811,000 constituents

Fletcher Case Study Essay

EMBA 653: Fletcher Case Study
This study analyzes and discusses three shortcomings that prevented investment
portfolio manager David Fletcher of Jenkins, Fletcher Partners (JFP) from realizing
his team oriented operational expectations. His failures were attributed to poor
personnel management, the inability to effectively select or establish team structure,
and the failure to devise the appropriate incentives to motivate and reward employees.
After careful review it is recommended that Fletcher must invest in personnel and
team management training for himself, take a measured approach to create and
sustain team structure and culture, and institute an incentive plan that fosters
motivation and rewards the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead a non team member of the firm had to intervene, and Fletcher responded by
isolating Whitney to obtain her perspective on the matter and ultimately making the
decision to fire Doyle with no guidance or performance improvement plan.
In addition to poor people management, the lack of a formal team structure
contributed to team performance issues. Fletcher falls prey to the team scaling
fallacy, believing that growing the staff would immediately reduce the number of
hours needed to perform research. Fletcher failed to set a vision or direction for the
team and he never defined or communicated team roles and responsibilities. He did
not consider the coordination necessary to share and leverage common industry
knowledge or to make joint investment decisions despite the fact that team members
could benefit from each other s industry research. Whitney and Doyle s interests and
expertise were never aligned in this sense and they became competitive in a harmful
manner as each strived to become a portfolio manager. Fletcher also failed to
establish a formal feedback mechanism such as 360 degree reviews to track and
monitor team member progress towards achieving goals. Another analyst, Rachel,
eventually established her own review mechanism, but had to prompt Fletcher to
provide necessary feedback which was not aligned with her own expectations.
Fletcher did not promote a team structure through the use of incentives that would

The beginning of American poetry started somewhere around 1490 s with the
establishment of the thirteen colonies. European explorers would include
descriptions or verses that told about the New World experience. The colonist helped
add to the English poetry in the 17th century. Many of the style of early American
poetrywas of dictation or journal entries by clergy or business professionals traveling
from one country to another. Many wrote hymn style telling a story of personal
family problems or relationships. Some would write about honesty and familiar
situations in life.
The Romantic Movement, which originated in Germany but quickly spread to
England, France, and beyond, reached America around the year 1820. Romantic ideas
centered on art as inspiration and spiritual movements. (IIP Digital)

Racial Inequality In America Essay
At the time I was 20 years old. Being underage I had of course bought liquor through
someone older, and back then, due to the hurdles it took to obtain decent alcohol
even a pack of Corona was regarded as a great drink. It was the kind of days where
every party was a remake of the film Project X and you never knew who or what you
would end up with at the end of the night. Needless to say, we were all young back
then and saw the world as our oyster; it was up to us to pry it open with our own
hands. As Wiz Khalifaput it, we were young, wild, and free. Looking back, it never
crossed our minds that at the end of the night we would be a lot older, controlled,
and oppressed. Racial inequality is a multidimensional problem in America. If the
problem was simply minorities in America are less well off than their white
counterparts, the problem could have been solved long ago. This narrative isn t
about racial inequality, its root causes, or its solutions; yet racial inequality plays a
central role in that night s events to the point where it should be mentioned. Racial
inequality is a generational, economic, social, psychological, and every other facet
of society people can analyze, type of problem. Northern Philadelphia is a prime
example of racial inequality at its worst in America. Entire swaths of blocks
consumed by poverty, drugs, and gang warfare are common in the streets of the
predominately black and hispanic North Philadelphia. The heavy police presence on

Wearing A Hearing Aid Or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity...
There maybe physical signs of being different, for instance, gender, race, and
wearing clothing such as a veil or a turban. There could even be a language barrier
with new immigrations, where only the child can speak english. However, some
differences may not be initially visible, for example, wearing a hearing aid or
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Practitioners must remember, we are all
individuals and promote equality and not to focus on what they assume people will
see or think looking at the child but on how the child is feeling (The Open University,
2016 A). It is important to note however, that with increased immigration and
evolving society, attitudes have changed. You only need to look at the evidence of
the women s rights movement from the 19th century, to see how people s attitudes
have changed to gender discrimination. Where in the present women are not regarded
as a second class citizen. I will be discussing disabilityand racismfurther, where it
involves children and how it can affect them and their families. I will define the
different types of discrimination and the situations that children and families face. I
will discuss how the practitioners can challenge discrimination and provide support
using case studies for examples.
Challenges are part of everyone s lives, however, for some in society they face
being stereotyped, where they are not seen as individuals but defined by their
disability, race, gender, sexuality or religion. Some people

Joseph Mccarthy Red Scare Analysis
The Red Scare, first gained popularity during the first world war. The Red scare was a
name developed to represent the widespread concern developed by americans over
the rumours surrounding a potential communist takeover. Instigating the public fear
was republican senator, Joseph McCarthy. McCarthy was the most famous anti
communist activism. He made many unsupported accusations against people and
accused them of being communist, this became known as McCcarthyism.
McCarthyismhelped create the Second Red Scare red scare by making unsupported
claims that there were communist employees in the state. In document 3 it states,
first he had said there were 205 disloyal employees in State, then 57, before settling
on 80. By demanding a quorum to listen to him, he forced a dragooning of members
back to their seats for a night session for the first time in almost five years. This
evidence shows that Joseph McCarthyfalsely accused members of the state of being
communist. This caused many Americans to panic, because they feared that people
in their government supported communist ideals due to McCarthy s accusations. In

Essay On Frankenstein Perspective
Point of view and perspective are very influential tools. Seeing different perspectives
can change another person or observer s perspective. Thoughts and experiences
influence perspective heavily. We can see this in our political climate, in psychology,
and the way people treat one another based on their experiences, thoughts, and
previous actions. This carries on to Frankenstein is the excerpt; he has a very heavily
varied perspective than those of the villagers , and there is a distinct difference in
thought. Readers learn the thoughts going through Frankenstein s mind, as well as his
good deeds, actions, and curiosity with a will to learn and discover. If the story were
to be told from the point of viewof a villager, it would probably be very negative and
completely different to Frankenstein s perspective.
Actions are very important in telling what something or someone is like. Future
actions can be estimated by someone s previous actions; actions usually reflect the
character and personality of someone. Positive actions are almost always associated
with a good hearted, positive person, and negative actions usually correspond with
wretched, wicked, fearful, hateful, and negative people. These staples of action and
character seem to apply to Frankenstein as well. In paragraphs 4 6, he discovers that
the family he usually observes suffers from poverty. What s amazing is that when he
heard and understood this, he refrained from taking their food again. For a monster

The Noble Marcus Brutus In The Tragedy Of Julius Caesar
What defines a tragedy? In the words of author Amos Oz, a tragedy is a clash
between right and right. One can imply from this quote that the hero of a tragedy
must face the ultimate decision of choosing between two morally conflicting
options. In addition, Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero includes that they must
make an irreversible mistake caused by their fatal flaw, whether it be hubris like
Oedipus of Sophocles tragic Greek play Oedipus Rex or other qualities. By analyzing
William Shakespeare s play, The Tragedyof Julius Caesar, one can see that noble
Marcus Brutus faces the struggle of deciding between two choices that are both

black workers. There once was an idea that the Afro Black race was the only eligible
people that should populate the system of slavery in America. Afro Black slaveryin
the United States of America has been argued in two ways by historians and
researchers. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the two points that one side
asking if slavery was the result of white racism and the other side asking if white
racism was a result of slavery. The second point was rather or not white racism was
a result of slavery. In the year of 1950, an influential article was published by Oscar
and Mary Handlin. Their article compared slavery to the other ways of bondage, by
discussing that what separated slavery from other ideals and ways of service was
that it was only limited to the African people, it was a permanent ordeal, and that it
was inherited from one generation to another. The Handlins believe that the
backbone of slavery was orchestrated by colonial governors to increase the able...

He argues for the first point. Jordan says in his book White Over Black (1968) as
well as other works that Europeans had viewed people of color as inferior people
for a very long time way before their current time in history. He believed that those
thoughts and attitudes travelled with the white Europeans to the New World.
Therefore according to this statement it could be said that white racism molded the
relationship and treatment of the Africans since the origins of their arrival in
America. Jordan goes on to conclude that the Whites would have oppressed the
Blacks in the New World regardless if there was an apparent economic incentive or

Having Trouble with Your Strategy? Then Map It by Robert S. Kaplan and David
P. Norton Harvard Business Review Anheuser Busch InBev (AB InBev) is a good
example of institution theory working at its best as it uses a strong mission and
vision statement for adaptation in growing markets. A solid mission statement is a
vital part of any company as it states the purpose or reason for the organization s
existence, which in turn, establishes the parameters for the company s strategic
plan. Moreover, it tells society what the company is providing: service or product.
As the textbook points out, a well conceived mission statement defines the
fundamental, unique purpose that sets a company apart from other firms of its type
and identifies the scope or domain of the company s operations in terms of products
/services offered and markets served (Wheelen, et al 13). Mission statements
throughout an industry can vary greatly, and the alcoholic beverage industry is no
exception. Anheuser Busch strives to Be the best beer company in a better world;
and to Deliver superior returns to our shareholders (Anheuser Busch). This mission
statement clearly defines who they are, The best beer company , and it also
identifies the scope of the company s operations, as they would like to deliver
superior returns to their shareholders. Having a narrow business statement, which very

Giant Sequoia trees, at ground level, are about 20 30 ft in diameter. Most trees in
the groves are about 1000 3000 years old. Giant Sequoias are felled by wind or
snow in the winter, or humans who cut them down. The conditions in which the trees
live must be very specific. They require lots of precipitation, higher elevation, deep
glacial soil, and some warmth. Giant Sequoias in Yosemite National Parkare naturally
found in droves such as the Mariposa, Tuolomne, and Merced Groves. The other
place it is found is in the Yosemite Cemetery. Before his death, Galen Clark chose
his gravesite and planted four Giant Sequoias at the corners of his grave. The
discovery of the Giant Sequoias started in 1860 by the early Euro Americans. they
lined up horses, stagecoaches, and troops alongside and on top of fallen trees to
show how large and tall they were. Unfortunately, some people saw the trees as an
opportunity for wealth by felling the trees. In 1864, Congress discussed whether
or not the Yosemite Valley or Mariposa Grove should be protected. The idea of
preservation led to larger expansions of national parks in the western U.S., and the
idea of national parks stemmed from the big trees. Also, the National Park Service
logo has the picture of a giant Sequoia on it. People from all over the world come to

MEMORANDUM
INTRODUCTION
You have asked me to determine whether our client Diana Lewis committed
unauthorized practice of law by providing her services. I have done research on
statutes and cases. This memorandum will address the issue of this case, California
Bar s claim, and Ms. Lewis s possible defense.
STATEMENT OF FACTS
In May 2001, Diana Lewis earned her Associate of Art degree and Paralegal
Certificate from City College of San Francisco. In June 2001, Ms. Lewis opened her
business to prepare legal paperwork for clients involved in uncontested divorces. She
advertises her business in the Daily Journal and the Recorder. She charges no more
than $75 for the complete ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She works as an independent legal document assistant. The issue is whether she
provided advice about possible legal rights, defense, strategies, etc.
In the People v. Landlords Professional Services, 215 Cal. App. 3d 1599; 264 Cal.
Rptr. 548, the court held that when a non attorney consults his or her clients
individually and presents himself or herself with expertise concerning certain
legal problem, he or she is engaged in unauthorized practice of law. The court s
reason for affirming conviction against LPS is that the company provided specific
information to its clients concerning eviction procedure in the context of personal
interviews where it was able to provide additional information and advice
addressed to the specific problems and concerns of its clients, who were likely to
rely on its advice, perhaps to their serious detriment. This case is similar to Diana
Lewis s case in that both Ms. Lewis and LPS s representatives are not authorized to
practice law. Both cases have the same issue of definition of practice of law. They
both provided legal document service. The difference is that LPS held individual
interviews with its clients and gave specific advice, whereas Ms. Lewis held
conference with her clients. However, Ms. Lewis did discuss with her clients
before the court hearing. State Bar could argue it is possible for Ms. Lewis to
provide additional advice concerning specific problems if her clients. Yet at
Chlorine Gases
I: Chemical Formula and Breakdown
Chlorine gases chemical formula is CI2. The elements that make chlorine gas is
mainly chlorine. Chlorine is a common element and is used in salt, which is very
important. Chlorine is highly reactive. Also, a highly toxic greenish yellow gas, has
a pungent odour, and fumes in moist air. Its density is .003, so it is very light.
II: Physiological/Psychological Effects
Because of its reactivity, Chlorine does not exist in the free elemental state in nature,
although it is widely distributed in combination with other elements. It also kills
pool germs. When chlorine enters the body as a result of breathing, swallowing, or
skin contact, it reacts with water to produce acids. The acids damage cells in the
body on contact. Effects of chlorine are blurred vision, burning pain, redness, and
blisters on the skin if exposed to gas. Burning sensation in the nose, throat, and eyes,
coughing, chest tightness. Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath. Nausea and
vomiting, watery eyes, wheezing. Chlorine gas affects your lungs, chest, and eye, as
well as your skin. And mainly your respiratory system.
III: History and Development
Around 1630, chlorine was recognized as a gas by the Flemish chemist and physician
John Baptist van Helmont. Elemental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

War of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or other Gases, and of Bacteriological Methods of
Warfare, usually called the Geneva Protocol, is a treaty prohibiting the use of
chemical and biological weapons in international armed conflicts. They have this
because chlorine gas is so deadly. think that using chlorine gas in war is fine if it is
a last resort after all peaceful methods have been tried. Also, if you are defending

Hp Carburetor Research Paper
How to Rebuild a Tecumseh 10 hp Carburetor Even the highest quality carburetors
can wear out for various reasons. The key is to learn to recognize the signs of a
struggling carburetor before it completely goes out and stops working altogether.
Some initial signs that the carburetor might need some maintenance are when the
engine begins to hesitate or stall. Another clear sign that the machine might be in
trouble is if it has a hard time starting, or if it starts with a cloud of black smoke.
Fortunately for users of the Tecumseh 10 hp Carburetor, rebuilding it is really easy
when following a few simple steps. Common Problems to Look For Although
there is a wide range of problems that can cause a carburetor to malfunction, some
are more common than others and therefore should be checked first to eliminate
unnecessary work or the additional expense of purchasing parts that are not
needed. For example, if a carburetor is having issues due to flooding simply remove
the float and see if a new one is needed. Usually, if there is a problem with the
overall function of a carburetor, it will need to be completely removed to fix the
problem. Fortunately, this is an easy task. Gathering Tools... Show more content on

Some of the tools required are a standard ratchet set to un bolt the carburetor, both
flat head and Philips screwdrivers, and maybe even a hex. In addition to those,
regular and needle nose pliers, screwdrivers of varying sizes and possibly some
small drill bits could become useful during the process. A needle valve, gaskets and
floaters are also part of the required set up when rebuilding a carburetor; however,
there is a kit available on the market specifically for rebuilding Tecumseh Carburetors
which greatly simplifies the

The Life Of A Paleontologist
The Life Of A Paleontologist
Paleontology is the study of the history of life on earth based on fossils. Fossils are
the remains of plants, animals, fungi, bacteria, and single celled living things that
have been replaced by rock material or impressions of organisms preserved in rock.
Overall it incorporates knowledge occasionally from biology, geology, ecology,
anthropology, archaeology, and computer science to understand the processes that
have led to the origination and extinction of the different types of organisms since life
arose. Henceforth, a paleontologist is a scientist who studies the history of organic
life on Earth, primarily focusing on the past.
Generally much of a paleontologist s work centers on finding the fossilized ... Show

Paleontologists use geologic maps to identify places that has the potential of finding
a fossil. Geologic maps show the age and the type of rock found on the Earth s
surface. For example, in the case of finding dinosaur fossils Paleontologists locate
sedimentary rocks from the Mesozoic Era on a geologic map, and go to those areas
to hunt for fossils. Paleontologists also need to know how to use a topographic map
to locate a fossils elevation and to determine the best sites for paleontological
excavation.
Paleontologists often study amber. It is a type of fossil resin that can preserve tissue
as delicate as dragonfly wings. Some ants get trapped in amber while eating leaves,
allowing scientists to know exactly what they ate, and how they ate it. Also the air
bubbles trapped in amber can conclude what atmospheric changes were around when
the organism lived, with the help of studying meteorology (Landing. Ed, 2015) .
I interviewed Dr. Ed Landing, a paleontologist at the New York State Museum.
Paleontologists who work for a museum might see his/her days split between
research and service, service might include answering questions of public, answering
emails of government agencies about different fossils and often giving tours of the
museum. The service also includes preservation, conservation, and data basing of
existing collections so that the collection might be used in research elsewhere

America Needs Better Funding For The Safety Net
Programs
America, where the famous so called American Dream was born, used to be the
most influential nation in the world economy. However, since the Second World
War, America s economy has been in a free fall. The American Dream is now only a
remnant of long lost heydays. The reason why America has gotten to this dreadful
situation may lie in the path that its government chose to develop. For instance, the
truly needy do not have enough support from the Social Safety Netprograms to get
out of poverty: the taxsystems should be progressive instead of regressive; wages and
benefits are not equally allocated among the workers and the bosses, and there has
been no attention to the maintenance and improvement of infrastructure for a very
long time. In order to alter the unpleasant big picture of poverty and inequality,
America needs better funding for the safety net programs, restructuring of the tax
system, adjusting wages and benefits for both employers and employees so they can
maintain their jobs and pay their bills, and ensuring that the federal government pay
more attention to the development of infrastructure along the way.
First things first, the safety net programs matter because they are a slew of projects
that prevent the poor from falling below a certain poverty level. Safety net programs
can be provided by public sector (state or aid donors), or private sector (non
governmental organizations, private firms, charities, or unofficial household
transfer). The programs

Essay Biodiversity

  • 1. Essay Biodiversity Crafting an essay on the intricate subject of biodiversity is undeniably challenging, requiring a delicate balance between scientific precision and engaging prose. The depth and breadth of the topic demand extensive research, encompassing ecological principles, species interactions, conservation efforts, and the profound impact of human activities on ecosystems. The challenge lies in presenting a comprehensive understanding of biodiversity while avoiding the pitfall of overwhelming the reader with technical jargon. Striking the right tone, bridging the gap between accessibility and accuracy, becomes a tightrope walk. It involves distilling complex concepts into digestible information without oversimplifying the essence of biodiversity. Moreover, the dynamic nature of the field adds another layer of difficulty. The constant evolution of research findings and the emergence of new perspectives necessitate an up-to-date approach. Keeping abreast of the latest scientific developments is not just a challenge but a necessity to provide an insightful and relevant exploration of the topic. Creating an impactful essay also involves conveying a sense of urgency regarding the current biodiversity crisis. Addressing the pressing issues of habitat loss, climate change, and species extinction requires a delicate balance between raising awareness and inspiring positive action. Balancing the grim realities with a call to optimism can be a challenging task, as it involves navigating the fine line between acknowledging the severity of the problem and instilling hope for a sustainable future. In conclusion, writing an essay on biodiversity demands a multifaceted approach, encompassing scientific rigor, accessibility, and a nuanced understanding of the complex interplay between nature and human activities. It's a challenging endeavor that requires not only knowledge but also a keen sense of communication to effectively convey the urgency of preserving our planet's rich biological diversity. And for those seeking assistance in navigating the intricacies of such essays or exploring a myriad of topics, various writing services like HelpWriting.net offer a wealth of resources and professional support to help bring your ideas to life. • 3. The Human Resources Department Of An Organization Or... 1.Please briefly explain why you chose to interview this person: I ended up interviewing Jennifer Noonan who works in the Human Resources Student Employment Department in University Housing. I choose to interview her because I work in housing and I was able to get in contact with her fairly easily. I also hope to work in the field of Management and Human resources, so I wanted to interview someone in that field to get a sense of what the career entails. 2.What are at least four things you learned from your informational interview about your contact s career path/job responsibilities, employer, and/or industry? Jennifer explained to me the basic role of the human resources department of an organization or corporation. I learned that it s one of the most important aspects of a business, because they are the ones who make sure all of the other departments are running as efficient as possible. Helping with the hiring process of new employees is something I didn t know HR is a part of, and they help hiring managers find the best possible candidates and make sure everything is in place for their future employment. Jennifer also informed me that the role of HR is constantly changing, and the old stereotypes of HR being the sticklers or the mean people is slowly changing. Human resources job is to follow and enforce the rules of the government and corporation, and that s why they were always portrayed negatively. 3.Collaborative, Trustworthy, Inspiring,
  • 4. Symbolism In Forrest Gump Traversing Through the Unknown People tend to find meaning in all aspects of life, and they rely and examine symbols to gain further insight into their life. Symbolism is prevalent in numerous films, however, in the 1994 film Forrest Gump by Robert Zemeckis intertwines symbolism to introduce the general themes of the film. In the film Forrest Gump the filmmaker focuses on the interesting life of Forrest Gump. Forrest Gump is an innocent honest man, who like many, has overcome adversity to achieve success. This same adversity helps Forrest and his general outlook on life. Through all these obstacles, he is an all star football, receives an honorary medal in the Vietnam war and sets up a successful shrimp business. As the film progresses, Robert Zemeckis, does an excellent job of adding important symbols that help the audience gain a better understanding of the characters and the film itself. This adversity and perspective on life is personified through objects such as the box of chocolates which represent uncertainty, the feather which appears at the beginning and the end and furthermore, the concept of running is a repetitious symbol in the film, all have important roles in shaping the lives of characters portrayed in the film. Forrest Gump s quote about life being a box of chocolates is well known around the world; however, one when analyzes this, it unlocks an understanding of the film, and to a degree life as well. Almost everyone has eaten a box of

  • 6. Speech On Panda Poached, Habitat Destroyed, and Forced into Captivity Meet the Real Endangered Pandas of the Wild The face of World Wildlife Fund since 1961, the giant panda has become synonymous with the plight of conservation. These iconic black and white bears, known for their distinctive black eye patches and affinity for bamboo, are loved and admired by billions of people across the world. However, despite their celebrity status in the animal kingdom and worldwide conservation efforts, these unique mammals are still endangered: only an estimated 1,200 2,400 pandas exist in the wild today. Rich History These black and white herbivores have been revered and respected by the Chinese as rare and noble creatures for millennia. They grace the tombs of ancient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Naturalists like Chris Packham have argued that the captive panda breeding programs are pointless because there is not enough habitat left to sustain them. Additionally, pandas are notoriously ineffective breeders, whether in the wild or captivity. Desperate breeders have tried every option, from giving pandas Viagra to making them watch panda porn; however, only artificial insemination has been successful, albeit partly. Thus, many people like Packham argue that our energy and money is better spent elsewhere. Save the Pandas: Besides being a prestigious cultural icon and a Chinese national treasure, pandas are a precious commodity that drives tourism and offers a huge revenue stream for the zoos and tourist hubs that host them. Organizations like the WWF, Giant Panda Conservation Centre, as well as the Chinese government are funding more than 50 panda reserves throughout China. Although they have their own UNESCO World Heritage Site designation (the Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries, which span over seven natural reserves), panda populations will continue to decrease if we continue to encroach on their habitat and pollute their environment. QUICK FACTS In 2004, a survey counted 1,600 pandas in the
  • 7. Critique Of The Movie Gasland Gasland: A Movie Critique The documentary Gasland, directed by Josh Fox provides insight on the effects of living in a natural gas driven society. The film features Josh Fox s search to discover how natural gas companies operate and the unseen consequences people have to live with as a result of corporate greed. Fox becomes curious about the gas industry in 2009 when he receives a letter from government regulators asking if he will relinquish his property for one hundred thousand dollars because it is located on the Marcellus shale, commonly known as the middle east of the United States. He fears that signing his property over will contaminate the Delaware River water supply. The Pennsylvania EPA informs the public that their water is still clean even though entire neighborhoods have seen their water fizzle because it is contaminated with natural gases. This prompts him to go on a journey to see how other communities have been... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, it is subjective because Josh Fox s reasoning behind creating the film was solely because he experienced the negative outcomes due to fracking in his hometown, and most likely would not have created this work if it were not for his negative experience. Fox strengthens his argument by interviewing normal citizens all across the United States. These are accurate and real instances of how the general public has been taken advantage of by the natural gas industry. By interviewing regular people, such as the man who loved lighting his water on fire, Fox captures their personalities allowing the audience to genuinely relate and feel for these people. He also interviews a man by the name of Westin Wilson, an EPA regulator, and even though he works for the natural gas industry he believes the industry is unjust and operates

Each of the aforementioned genres have attributed to an additional ageless art form. Film may be identified as an art form that combines multiple genres to produce classic work. This is specifically revealed by an Orson Wellesmovie. The 1941 film, Citizen Kane, may be considered a classic based on extensive research. Throughout history, the film is repeatedly rated as one of the greatest films ever produced. Various elements such as storytelling and technique have contributed to the recognition and acclaim attained by the film. During the era in which the film was produced, Citizen Kane revolutionized film making and remains relevant today. Despite the initial response to the film, Citizen Kane is a definite classic. Two primary themes within the film contribute to the recognition and acclaim generated by Citizen Kane. The themes are buried beneath the visual muddle of the film itself. First, the theme regarding the disparagement of the private disposition of the municipal figure contribute to the esteem of the film. (Carringer) Next, the theme regarding the overwhelming force of materialism may be identified as a defining factor of the film, Citizen Kane. Viewed in unison, the themes encompass the poignant irony of the triumphant success of an American. The tale takes a drastic turn and winds up revealing the demise, lonesomeness,

  • 10. Professional Behavior, Communication, Boundaries, And... My field experience has been wonderful so far for the first semester. I have gained valuable information for the last couple on months interning at my agency. For this self evaluation I will be describing the1 3 and 6 9 competencies I set up at the beginning of the semester and see if I have achieved these skills. I will also address the growth and challenges I have come upon throughout this semester. For competency one on processional and ethical practice I wanted to demonstrate having a professional behavior, communication, boundaries, and writing skills throughout the semester. I also wanted to provide integrity, competence, core values, services, dignity, and worth in the agency and my clients. In addition being aware of the mandating reporting, parental consent, and legal consent in the school setting. I feel the growth in this competency I have gained a lot by the agency in proving lots of training, group supervision, and individual supervision has not only broaden my skills but have gained valuable knowledge of what to do in certain situations. For some of the challenges I encounter at the beginning was learningabout mandating reporting and how much work it goes into calling, summiting the paperwork all this is a curial aspect when doing a CWS report. For example, when doing my first mandated report my supervisor stayed and walk me through each step to make sure I did it correctly which was wonderful and learned the right way to do a mandated report. People have lots of works to do in their life. And for some, exercise is just one more work in their routine. Some will be frustrated while doing workouts. It is easy to lose motivation during the weight reduce plan. So, making the workout fun is the most important thing; for this, it is better to try a physical activity that actually brings the fun out of the person. Sports are the perfect choice for this. But for the people who don t have the competitive attitude, play based workouts are the best and simpler alternative. Plenty of science suggests that play is the best activity for brains of adults. • 12. Caffeine And Amine Lab Report In this experiment, I was unable to complete the tests that would suggest isolation success. If the melting point of the experimental caffeine was tested, the experimental melting point would need to be 238o Celsius to be successfully isolated. A melting point lower than this would suggest that the isolate was impure. If a TLC plate was performed on the crude caffeine and the isolate, the crude would have multiple retention factor values while the isolate, if isolated successfully, should only have one retention factor. If an IR spectrum was performed, the spectrum should only show functional groups in caffeine such as amides and amines, and should not include functional groups like phenyls or esters. This is different from just making tea because the goal is to make the liquid for the centrifuge tubes as concentrated as possible. When making tea for enjoyment and consumption, the tea is in a larger amount of water and is usually only steeped for three to five minutes. Tea for enjoyment is not intended to be extremely concentrated (in fact, most people would dilute the tea if it is too strong). In this experiment, potassium carbonate acts as a base. Potassium carbonate would dissociate into potassium ions (K+) and carbonate ions (CO3 2 ). Carbonate ions would undergo acid base reactions with the tannins, which then allows the tannins to be water soluble. However, this makes the tannins far less soluble in the organic layer, allowing it to separate from that layer after centrifuging. Because caffeine has dipoles, and thus is polar, it is likely to dissolve in methylene chloride because it is also polar. This means that methylene chloride and caffeine would be in the same layer after centrifuging, separating from the inorganic layer. Water in the mixture exists in the inorganic layer and is used to isolate the caffeine from the tannins from the tea
  • 13. Cellular Technology Has Developed A Long Way From Its... Chapter 1 Introduction The cellular technology has developed a long way from its existence in the early 1980 s. In the past few decades it has grown into one of the biggest market with the rise of cell phone users, the cellular network providers and cell phone makers have grown in immense amount. Cellular technologies have evolved from first generation (1G), second generation (2G), third generation (3G) and to its current technology which is fourth generation (4G) which is also known as Long Term Evolution (LTE). • 14. How I Changed My Life Forever The one choice that changed my life forever was that our family emigrated from Hong Kong to Canada in 1974. I was only seven years old. My Chinese name is Sau Han and this is my immigration history. My family came to Canada for a job offer but mainly it was for a better life. I had to leave behind many loving familymembers in Hong Kong. We also left behind our old lives, furniture, car, apartment, and friends. Our journey began when we hopped on a JAL (Japan airlines) jumbo jet on a sixteen hour flight to Vancouver, British Columbia with a brief stop over in Tokyo, Japan. Everything looked foreign to us on our arrival. What we hoped in the future was to be able to learn English, to adapt to our foreign surroundings, to settle down in our new home, and to go back to visit our friends and relatives in Hong Kong. These challenges are just the first of many obstacles to be faced. This immigration was not just a new beginning for my family but also a window of opportunity for the next generation. We had an intriguing story of how we immigrated to Canada. My family consisted of myself, my mom and dad, my older brother, Chi Hung, my older sister, Sau Seng, and my younger brother, Chi Wai. We lived in a descent three bedroom apartment in the New Territories, Hong Kong. On November, 1973, I vividly remembered my dad s ex employer, Mr. Chow, called long distance from Vancouver, Canada and offered my dad a dim sum chef position in his restaurant, the Golden

Washington Turnage had to work several jobs to make living such as waiter, clerk, secretary and the common laboring. The slaves now had to bring the knowledge that they had brought with them from slavery, freed people educated children nurtured a community increasingly surrounded by a racially hostile world, found spiritual solace, gathered their scattering families and took ownership of their lives (pg 95). The church played a key role in uniting African Americans and helping build a community with one another. Church provided faith, jobs and shelter. • 17. Should There Be More or Less Laws Leading Abortion Essay There are many reasons why abortions are performed. The main way of looking at abortion can be summarized in five points: birth control issues, human rights, legal precedence, when life begins, and religious reasons. (Abortions allowed women to pursue their educational goals.)(Hill, 2007) Based on both moral and empirical claims, a wide variety of views supporting either less or more legal restriction on abortions has enlarged in America. Thus, the Presidential selection of Justices leaves abortionas a hot topic for political applicants. Before digging deeper into the current or past debates on an issue like abortion, it is important to look simply at the fact of its existence in the United States. Permitting to studies released in 2005 by The Guttmacher Institute and the Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health (PRCH), there were 1.29 million abortions performed in the United States, research by the same group shows that in 1994, about half of all pregnancies in the country were unintended, with only approximately partial of those really ending in abortion. In contrast to other nations, the United States accounted for 3% of universal abortions in 1995 (PRCH and Guttmacher). A modern legal choice that affects the validity of abortion is the Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004 created after the Laci Peterson case. This act has made it so that a vicious crime against an expecting woman counts as two different crimes; one against the woman alone and the other one against the unborn child. This has additional to the debated nature of the issue because it seems like an inconsistency to allow the fetus to be considered a person in wrong proceedings, however allow abortion to be legal. It is inconsistent to provide a fetus rights as a human while still

Again, there are rounding limitations and this formula only works when n2. This isn t a big problem though because the first Fibonacci number will always be 1. During my research, I learned that there is a close relationship between the Fibonacci and Lucas series, and that either of these series can be used to find an equation for the nth term of the other. I put the first 15 terms of both these series in a table to compare them and to find equations for the nth term. From this table, I notice that the sum of alternate Fibonacci numbers (fn 1+fn+1) equals the Lucas number that s in between those numbers (ln). The formula then for the nth Lucas number using Fibonacci numbers is ln=fn 1+fn+1. Here s an example when n=4: l4=f4 1+f4+1 l4=f3+f5

By demanding a quorum to listen to him, he forced a dragooning of members back to their seats for a night session for the first time in almost five years. • 39. Essay On Frankenstein Perspective Point of view and perspective are very influential tools. Seeing different perspectives can change another person or observer s perspective. Thoughts and experiences influence perspective heavily. We can see this in our political climate, in psychology, and the way people treat one another based on their experiences, thoughts, and previous actions. This carries on to Frankenstein is the excerpt; he has a very heavily varied perspective than those of the villagers , and there is a distinct difference in thought. If the story were to be told from the point of viewof a villager, it would probably be very negative and completely different to Frankenstein s perspective. Actions are very important in telling what something or someone is like. Future actions can be estimated by someone s previous actions; actions usually reflect the character and personality of someone. Positive actions are almost always associated with a good hearted, positive person, and negative actions usually correspond with wretched, wicked, fearful, hateful, and negative people. These staples of action and character seem to apply to Frankenstein as well. In paragraphs 4 6, he discovers that the family he usually observes suffers from poverty.
