Essay About Writing
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Essay About Writing" may seem like a straightforward task
at first glance, but delving into the intricacies of self-reflection on the writing process unveils a
challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the need for a profound understanding of
the craft but also in the paradoxical nature of writing about writing.
To begin, one must navigate the fine line between self-expression and self-awareness. Describing
the intricate dance between thoughts and words requires a deep dive into the recesses of one's
own mind, a journey that can be both enlightening and perplexing. It demands an acute
awareness of the writing process itself, dissecting the choices made, the struggles faced, and the
triumphs achieved.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to articulating the abstract and subjective aspects of writing.
How does one convey the elusive magic that happens when ideas seamlessly flow onto the paper,
or the frustration when words refuse to cooperate? The inherent subjectivity of the writing
experience adds layers of complexity, as each writer's journey is unique and personal.
The paradox lies in the attempt to articulate the ineffable. Writing about writing requires
transcending the very medium one is discussing. It involves expressing the inexpressible,
capturing the essence of an art form that thrives on the ambiguity of language. It's akin to trying
to describe the act of painting using only colors.
In addition, addressing the multifaceted aspects of writing – from the technicalities of
grammar and style to the emotional rollercoaster of creativity – demands a nuanced approach.
Striking a balance between the analytical and the emotional, the technical and the artistic, is akin
to navigating a tightrope where the risk of falling into clichГ©s or abstraction looms at every
step.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the theme of "Essay About Writing" is a challenging
undertaking. It involves a self-reflective journey into the complexities of the writing process,
attempting to articulate the ineffable while balancing the technical and emotional facets. It is a
paradoxical endeavor that requires a delicate dance between self-expression and self-awareness.

method of reconstructing smoothing curves. In conventional smoothing spline, the

Sherman Alexie
In the book,The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, Sherman Alexie
portrays how many Indigenous people struggle with the problem of racism: in
Alexie s character s case, it makes Junior doubt himself, but it also creates a
pathway and a drive for Junior to leave the reservation and makes others and Junior
stand up for himself and for his culture. To begin, Alexie makes Junior doubt his
culture because Alexie made Junior believe that white people are better in general.
Junior thinks this because even the people around Junior think that white people are
better and because they have more hope a dialogue from Junior and his parents
prove this , Who has the most hope? White people, my parents said at the same time,
(Alexie 45). This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Racism created a pathway because it made Junior think that just because white
people put them there, they have to stay there. The quote, Reservations were
meant to be prisons, you know? Indians were supposed to move onto reservations
and die. We were supposed to disappear, (179) proves that Junior thinks that the
reservations were truly meant for, to be places where the government could just
dump them and forget about them. He thinks that people on the reservation were
just supposed to die there, but that was actually happening and no one was trying
to make their life better, Junior wants to be the one who leaves the reservation and
help himself. Another point is when Mr.P is talking to Junior about the reservation
schools, which this quote, We were supposed to make you give up being Indian

to throw at him, (35) proves the point because it shows how much hate he had for
Mr.P and the people who did that, it fueled his determination and hate to the point
he could actually throw those encyclopedias at Mr.P. Instead he used it to make a
difference in his life and securing a better future for himself, by going to Reardan. In
the end, Junior wants to leave the reservation because of the hate people have and it

The Shawshank Redemption Analysis
In the movie The Shawshank Redemption, a man named Andy Dufresne gives
viewers an insight on hope, friendship, and time. It can be hard enough to survive
this world as a civilian, let alone a prisoner. When Andy gets to the Shawshank
prison there is not much to it besides four walls and some innocent criminals. Andy
is sort of like this beacon of light coming into the prison. He doesn t come in and
make things better, but he gives some of the prisoners a sense of the outside world.
In a world where it is easy to get lost, hope, friendship, and time are essentials in
survival.
Time is not usually anybody s friend. Time is actually something that people seem to
never have enough of. However, in The Shawshank Redemption, time is of an ...

Despite barely having anything in common these two bright minds connected and
became friends for decades. In prison it is important to have someone there. Red
explains their relationship by saying I never felt really close to Andy until 1960 or
so, and I believe I was the only one who ever did get really close to him . For Andy
it was important to his sanity to have a person like Red. Without Red, Andy might
just have gone insane. Red helped give Andy hope. While in prison Andy never let
go of hope. Even through his first two years in Shawshank he still held onto hope.
There were a few things that helped Andy hold on to hope, one of those things was
Red. While talking to Red in a letter, Andy told him Remember Red, hope is a good
thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies . This just proved
how much Andy believed that hope was the one thing that nobody could ever take
from him. Not only was this film about a man keeping his hope, but another man
trying to regain his. Red lost his hope long ago, probably when he was first denied
parole or maybe even when he was first sent to prison. He told Andy hope is a
dangerous thing my friend, it can kill a man . Andy helped Red just as much as
Red helped Andy. Red s view of hope was very different from Andy s, so Andy
helped him see the better side of hope. When Andy pulled off his escape he helped
Red see that there is
Bata Case Study
Quality of BATNAs: Does either side have a good BATNA? Do they know each
other s BATNAs? In both 2012 and in 2016, the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU)
showcased the immense power of every union s BATNA under the NLRA: the ability
to strike. 30,000 teachers took to the streets, 350,000 students were out of school, and
hundreds of thousands of parents were forced to adjust their schedules. The strength
of the strike option depends largely on the current political environment and the
strength of the counterparty s alternatives. Often, counterparty s BATNA to
negotiating concessions with a union is to utilize temporary workers or to allow
weaker unions to bankrupt themselves by allowing the strike to continue until union
coffers are empty.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This BATNA would do little to alleviate the short term consequences, however.
They were left with only a few options: make a deal or resort to their weak
BATNA, which was to open schools for partial days, increase police surveillance
on the streets, and have community organizations provide activities to keep
children busy. The city knew the CTU had a strong BATNA that seemed to grow
stronger by the day as constituents grew angry and annoyed: continue striking.
Because this BATNA was so powerful, the city offered teachers a more agreeable
deal. The union relied on the fact that city leaders would suffer more than the
teachers from disruption as the strike continued. When this materialized, Emanuel
had no choice but to concede. Building Rapport: Why trust is key. We talked a great
deal in class about the importance of viewing negotiations as opportunities to work
together to achieve both party s interests by viewing the discussion as a joint
problem solving exercise. Paramount to this is mutual trust and respect between
parties. In the negotiations between the CTU and Mayor Emanuel, little trust or
respect existed. Several experts cite this lack of rapport as a major contributor to the
strike. From day one, Mayor Emanuel lobbied the legislature in Springfield for
education reform that would redefine collective bargaining in Chicago. His reforms
The Inspector Calls Character Quotes
Back in 1900s the younger generation were said to be more naГЇve to everyday life
that their ideas were not as important as the older ones. But the truth is that they are
more open to ideas and opinions which include Capitalist and Socialist ideas.
Throughout the play the younger generation become more accepting to the right
side, the Socialist side. The quote showing this is when Eric said Well, I don t
blame you. But don t forget I m ashamed of you as well yes both of you. This quote
also shows that once you were on the right side, you became the new and improved
older generation. Eric is important in the playto show that the younger generation can
change and become better people in the future.
Eric was one of the last characters that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Eric s case he had committed both, moral and physical. He first took advantage
of a drunken girl and made her pregnant and then stole money from his father s
work. The role of the Inspector is to show that everyone has done something bad
and should accept it unlike an actual Inspector which would send you to jail, or
worse, kill him. As for Eric, he has accepted he has done something very wrong and
accepts that he must do something to repay his father back for the money he stole.
The quote that says this is I intended to pay it back. As for making Eva pregnant, he
wanted to help the child which was as much as he could have done since she told
him to go. Eric here shows that even that he had committed crimes; he still manages
to find a way to fix things
The Current Five Step Program Enacted By The
Department Of...
The current five step program enacted by the Department of Human Services is both
inefficient and permissive, calling for minimal action and few opportunities for the
reconnection of a family. Often times, case workers of the Department of Human
Services (DHS) attempt to persuade young people into removal and treatment with no
clear understanding of the challenges that the familyfaces. Case workers, although
inclined to tell you they are there to keep the family together, often lead to tearing a
family apart because of the lack of assistance offered by DHS. A study done by
Roan Fairbairn and David Murray explored the gaps in care provided by DHS and its
workers, with the outcomes of the youth involved; most importantly targeting how
case workers interacted with youngpeople, stating that strategies that attempt to
engage young people in a dialogue about their individual circumstances, including
drug use, may be more effective than attempts to coerce them into treatment. They go
on to explain that practioners with the best intentionsintervene and inadvertently
cause more harm for the clients than if they had not acted at all. (Fairbairn and
Murray 18) Little is available in terms of a nationwide change. In recent years, a
call to action has been released with a keen eye on the lack of progress made by
DHS to change their system. The Children s Bureau is one of many organizations
that plan to tackle this issue head on. Upon review of DHS it was discovered that of

The Relationship Between Human Relations And Public
Relations
Human relations refers to everything we do with, for, and to each other as citizens
and as human beings (Dempsey, 2014, pg. 330). An example is officers integrating
ongoing training initiatives for departments to establish respect within communities,
regardless of color, ethnicity, economic status or sexual orientation. Public relations is
a strategic communication process that builds strong relationships between the public
and organizations. The public relations approach reflects efforts to improve the
public s perception of the police, by informing the public why departments and
officers do what they do and enhancing their public image as first responders and
community helpers. Community relations really ties both human relations and public
relations together. Communities rely on police departments to protect and serve and
the police, in turn, rely on community support and cooperation, but the relationship is
not always harmonious (RAND, 2017). They could be either negative or positive,
depending on the type of interaction. An example of this is by taking active interests
in the community problems, participating in local government, or simply going to
youth activities such as middle/high school events. Involvement in community
programs and neighborhood projects can bring the citizens together with police by
creating a purpose to build unity and show a more personable side of the police.
2.Discuss the rapid increase in the minority population and the challenges it presents
for law enforcement in communities that have not previously faced this issue. In
your answer, explain why multicultural understanding is critical. Use at least one
outside source to support your answer. (10 points)
America has always been known as a melting pot , especially with all the minority
population that embodies society (Fire Science Online, 2017). But today law
enforcement is faced with many challenges with certain racial and ethnic
compositions. Ethical and racial minorities regarded 90% of the population growth
in the United States from 2000 2010, and the United States is very rapidly becoming
even more diverse (Dempsey, 2014, p. 334). These conflicting accounts arise, in part,
because of differing
Pirated and Counterfiet Software
Ethics is one of the fundamental building blocks for all organizations. Specifically,
information ethics directly relates to Management Information Systems. Information
ethics includes the ethical and moral issues arising from the development and use of
information technologies. This also includes the creation, collection, duplication,
distribution, and processing of information itself with the aid of computer
technologies. This paper will focus on the illegal duplication and distribution of
software. There are two primary ethical areas concerning software: Pirated software
and counterfeitsoftware. Pirated software is the unauthorized use, duplication,
distribution, or sale of copyrighted software. Software publishers maintain ownership
of the software they create and only they control the right to duplicate and distribute
their products. Counterfeit software is software that is manufactured to resemble
authentic software and is sold as such. This could include the illegal copying and
distribution of commercial software on DVD or CD. This is typically accomplished
using a CD burner. New technology has made it much easier for consumers to be
deceived by counterfeiters via high quality packaging and fake products that are
nearly impossible to distinguish from authentic software. Software publishers are
continuously looking for ways for consumers to be able to distinguish whether they
have purchased authentic or counterfeit merchandise. Many companies are
attempting to
Racism and Slavery in Oronooko
Even works of literature that intend to have a good message can be interpreted and
read the wrong way. The novella, Oroonoko written by Aphra Behn, is a great
example of this. Oroonoko is the story of the Royal Slave. It is written in the
perspective of a white colonial woman in the eighteenth century. I found the novella
to have a lot of subtle racial undertones despite the fact that during that time it was
seen as an anti slaverynovel.(1) There have been debates on whether this novella is
pro slavery or anti slavery? While reading, I decided that it was neither, but more so
a novella from a revolutionist point of view. One of the first things that sticks out is
the way in which she described Oroonoko physically. Behn stated that his... Show

He states Have they vanquished us nobly in fight? Have they won us in honorable
battle? And are we by the chance of war become their slaves? This would not anger
a noble heart; this would not animate a soldier s soul. (6) So essentially he believes
that slaves are good and they help with work around the house , but the only way
to get slaves is through war. One could argue that he was against slavery because
later after he is captured upon a ship, he makes this long speech about freedom and
wanting all the other slaves to be free. Oroonoko only makes this speech after he
finds out that Imoinda is expecting a child and his appeal for freedom is denied. I
am inferring that Oroonoko may not actually give two shits about the slaves, but is
more so concerned for the safety of his family and he simply uses the slaves to get
his family to safety . The Author seems to have found herself in Oroonoko. She most
likely, inherently believed that slaves were only rightfully owned if they are received
through a war victory.
I also got the vibe that Behn has romanticized slavery. Instead of showing slavery
for the cruelty it truly contains, she plays it up in this sort of ecstatic affair between
a prince, prince s grandfather and a beautiful woman. One instance of romanticized
slavery is when Caesar and Clemene first realize who they are, and they have a sort
of reunion party at the House of Slaves. Behn writes that there is loud barbaric music
and a delicious

Narrative Essay On Camp Snoopy
The first time going to camp snoopy was a huge deal because I was only 4 years old.
I was with my close family, which are my brothers and cousins, and of course my
mom and grandma. When we were walking into camp snoopy for the first time it
was like a tree in a forest and all I could hear hear squeal of kids screaming, and the
rides rumbling. The first ride we decided to go on was the elegant peanutsswing.
When we got on the swing I felt the chilly metal of the seat and the smooth breeze
of wind blowing into my face. After that we went to the shooting star and at first I
didn t want to go on the shooting star so my cousins went on the shooting star and

and we made a massive wave making water go everywhere. Till this day the log

The Consequences Of Monetary Policy
Monetary policy has to do with the regulations that a government puts in place to
control money in circulation in the economy. An effective monetary policy will
ensure that current and anticipated events in the economy of a country are taken care
of. The Federal Reserve (The Fed) is the central bank of the United States, and it is
responsible for the formulation and execution of these policies.
Banks made available huge amounts of money available in form of loans; banks
were responsible for creating large debts in form of loan interests. People who had
borrowed were eventually unable to pay. The creation of private credit and money
led to a financial crisis, threatening to make banks bankrupt. The same banks now

Lenders felt the burden left by defaulters and their capital reduced.
Subprime borrowers are those borrowers who have low credit ratings and poor
creditworthiness. The subprime mortgage market meltdown began on 9 August 2007
and continued into 2008 (Cecchetti, 2008). It arose when banks created a lot of
money in a short time and used the opportunity to raise house prices and speculations
on financial markets. Initial subprime mortgages were affordable and many
borrowers were attracted to them. However, they were adjustable after a given
duration. It is this adjustment that instigated many defaults in payments, mostly
beginning in 2007 when higher payments were demanded. By 2009, banks were
going bankrupt due to the high number of defaulted mortgage payments.
Also, lenders came up with creative mortgage packages upon speculations of
growing house prices. With mortgage backed securities (MBS), the process of
securitization occurs whereby home mortgages are grouped into categorized pools
by the issuing banks. They are then sold as a single security where the risks are
spread out. These pooled assets backed securities were attractive to both lender and
borrower because lender sold the loan and borrower accessed credit easily. Such
collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) were sold to other market investors to reduce
the risk of default. These investors were attracted by the higher returns, especially due
to the lower interests. During the liquidity period, as
Summary Of Mumu By Ivan Turgenev
The paper starts off with a phrase which goes on to be explained further on. Almost
every intellectual claims to have the welfare of humanity, and particularly the
welfare of the poor, at heart: but since no mass murder takes place without its
perpetrators alleging that they are acting for the good of mankind, philanthropic
sentiment can plainly take a multiplicity of forms . I understood this phrase from a
wrong perspective until I went ahead to study what exactly the author Theodore
Dalrymple meant by this saying. The story of two European writers is one I
enjoyed, having to see how two people could have just about the same live, or need I
say the same events take place in their lives, can two people be so exact and at the
same time be so different? Ivan Turgenev and Karl Marx, were both born into this
world on the same day in 1818 and died the same day in 1883, whenever Turgenev
saw something single like men, Marx saw classes or a group of men. Turgenev s
story Mumu was one about the days of serfdom, garasim who was a deaf servant,
served his master, and later on discovered a puppy who he loved so much, he then
took care of the puppy and nurtured it but his master was not ok with having the
puppy around, with everything that was done in other to keep the puppy away from
garasim, the puppy still made its way back to him. At the end, the master ordered that
the puppy be killed because of its disturbance and garasim volunteered to kill the
puppy himself, which he

Laurel Creek Health Care Center v. Bishop
Court of Appeals of Kentucky,____S.W.3d___(2010)
FACTS
Gilbert Bishop was admitted to Laurel Creek Health Care Center on July 23, 2002,
after arriving via ambulance without family present. During that examination, Gilbert
communicated to Laurel Creek staff that he could not use his hands well enough to
write or hold a pencil. Gilbert was otherwise found to be mentally competent. Gilbert
s sister, Rachel Combs, arrived after Gilbert, she offered to sign the admissions
forms, but Laurel Creek employees told her that it was their policy to have the
patient s spouse sign the admissions papers if the patient was unable to sign them.
Rachel also testified that Gilbert asked her to get his wife, Anna ... Show more content

REASON
Laurel Creek first argues that this is a case of actual agency and that Anna Bishop has
actual authority as Gilbert s agent to sign the admissions paperwork as is therefore
bound by the arbitration agreement therein.
We agree with Laurel Creek that Gilbert created an actual agency relationship
between him and his wife. According to his sister, Rachel, Gilbert specifically asked
that his wife be brought to the nursing home so that she could sign the admissions
documents for him, and Anna acted upon that delegation of authority and signed the
admissions papers. This is consistent with the creation of actual authority as described
in the Restatement (Third) of Agency В§ 2.01, comment c (2006). The Restatement
explains the rationale for the creation of actual agency in three steps. First, the
principal manifests assent to be affected by the agent s action. In the instant case,
Gilbert asked that Anna come to the hospital to sign the papers for him. Second, the
agent s actions establish the agent s consent to act on the principal s behalf. Here,
Anna signed all the admissions papers per her husband s request and therefore
consented to act on Gilbert s behalf. Third, by acting within such authority, the agent
affects the principal s legal relations with third parties. Clearly here, Anna s actions
affected Gilbert s relations with Laurel Creek, a third party.
The trial court acknowledged that Gilbert had the
Moral Dilemm Right Vs Right Essay
Moral Dilemma Right versus right moral dilemma causes conflict which is
recognized in the two cases and each case, a person considers themselves as having
moral intentions. The moral dilemma is about an attorney s emotional conflict
with his professional obligations. A right versus right situation occurs when one
is faced with an urgent and intricate situation that makes you make choices about
your integrity and moral character (Badaracco Jr., 2009). The essential features of
a moral dilemma are that people are required to do one of two or more actions.
When people are given a choice it creates a moral dilemma. If the people seems
condemned to moral failure, no matter what he or she does, they will do something
wrong or possibly fail to do something that he or she ought to do. (MCConnell
2014) Some individual are concerned that their concepts do not allow for moral
dilemmas to have more than stability in mind. It is known to be somewhat
concerning, that theories that allow for dilemmas failure to be uniquely action
guiding. A theory can fail to be uniquely action guiding in two different ways, by
suggesting incompatible actions in a situation or by not suggesting any action at all.
(McConnell2014) Badaracco, in 2009, used the situation of a guy named Steve
Lewis as an example case to review, Steve had to make a decision about taking a trip
with his job. In this dilemma, Steve knew that it had nothing to do with the color of
his skin, but this case had the
The World Is The Best
As time elapses, ideas, thoughts, and view of the world tend to modify. I assume that
the literature that is present from hundred years ago until now, displays a shift of
religion to nature. Religion used to be the basis for most of the things, but as new
ideas approached, nature began to replace it. Not implying that nature completely
replaced religion, but it became a new way to understand the world. I believe there
is always going to be a debate on which way to understand the world is the best.
Religious people would argue that the bibleis the guide for lives and the way to
control the world, but on the other hand, science also tries to explain this idea.

How would it pleased God to see a person die in a desperate manner even if they had
sin? God gives us life and would pardon our sins if we seek for him. However, I
believe the puritans, including Bradford, felt that there was no option of
forgiveness. According to what I have read in Bradford s story, I would say that
religion could make someone selfish. I am not against religion, but this is what I
conclude based on this literature. I feel this way because it seems that they just
think for themselves. They believe they are perfect and that anyone else is evil. I
feel that being a religious person, should not make them feel superior like the
puritans did. I believe that in God s eye we are all the same, but the puritans saw
the Native Americans as savages and not pure. An example of this is in the first
encounter the puritans had with the so called savages. Thus it pleased God to
vanquish their enemies...and by his special providence so to dispose that not any
of them were either hurt or hit... (79) In my point of view, here is a clear example

Essay about Persuasion in 12 Angry Men
In his article, The Necessary Art of Persuasion , Jay Conger stated that persuasion is
NOT about selling or convincing; rather, it is a learning and negotiating process.
Good persuaders use and listen to ongoing and active discussions (or debates) to learn
about their audience and include different opinions into a shared conclusion. In the
movie 12Angry Men , juror number 8 (Henry Fonda) was not sure if evidence
presented against a young defendant in court left reasonable doubt for a guilty
conviction. The other jurors believed the presented facts and the defendant s
background warrants a guilty conviction. The movie showed how juror number 8
persuasively got the other jurors to review each fact logically, which led to an

It is critical to identify the tangible benefits and values that really matters to people
being persuade. Effective persuaders consider what is important to an audience and
lays his or her position to match common ground with the audience. This is a give
and take process. Effective persuaders also use testimonies, past and current research,
etc and readjust their argument to make them appealing to their audience. Persuaders
must know an audience well enough to know what will capture their immediate and
continued attention.
Juror number 8 was in a situation where there is no common ground between him
and the other jurors. All are from diverse backgrounds and uncomfortably brought
together to deliberate the facts in an open and shut murder trial. Juror number 8,
wanting to just talk , kept reconsidering and adjusting his position with the other
juror s positions about the defendant until a common was reach in the deliberation.
Again, this is a give and take process and is effective if properly done right.
The third essential step is presenting evidence to an audience. Conger stated that
evidence alone will not convince an audience to support a position or an idea.
Evidence can appear too abstract and not entirely informative. Persuaders, Conger
noted, use stories, metaphors, analogies, examples, etc and use vivid language
skillfully to paint a compelling big picture of their point of view. This approach is far
more effective than stating facts in
The Powers of the Symbols in Lord of the Flies
Lord of the Flies is a novel that is all about symbols that have different powers
which is used on the boys. Two of the symbols which are the conch and the sow s
head contain powers that are opposite of each other and they have a great affect on
the boys. Lord of the Flies would be a different story without symbols. The conch
has the powers that lead to civilization and order. It represents the authority that the
boys will need to get rescued from the island. The sow s head on the other hand
represents the evil powers to lead the boys to total chaos and savagery which is
created by Jack. Jack has used one of the sow s head s symbolism which is the beast
to control his group. The conch has a power that is used for order and civilization,...

Do you. See? (Golding. 159).
Golding shows how Simon is different compared to the rest of the boys. He showed
how Simon was civilized and has never done anything savage since the boys
landed on the island until Simon was killed. He has also shown how evil has
beaten good when Jack s group killed Piggy and destroyed the conch as well. See?
See? That s what you ll get! I meant that! There isn t a tribe for you any more! The
conch is gone (Golding. 200).
Lord of the Flies is a book about symbols that have powers. One of the symbols
which was one of the most important symbols in the book, was that the conch which
the boys used. The conch s role in the book was to lead the boys to civilization to get
rescued from the island. Another symbol which is the sow s head was also one of the
important symbols in the book was the opposite of the conch. It wanted the boys
to stay savage, and thus making the whole island a savage place. Without symbols,
Lord of the Flies would be a different story (Literary analysis: Symbolism in Lord of
the Flies, by William Golding). In conclusion, Savagery has beat civilization which
was very disappointing, since the conch has been destroyed; civilization has been
destroyed as well. The conch symbolized civilization and order which was destroyed
since savagery has killed two boys that represented civilization and destroyed the
symbol that had the power of civilization.

Fears Vs. Phobias, And When Does A Fear Become A Phobia
Fears vs Phobias
Research Question: What is the difference between fears and phobias, and when
does a fear become a phobia.
Introduction: Almost everyone has an irrational fear or two of mice, for example, or
your annual dental checkup. For most people, these fears are minor. But when fears
become so severe that they cause tremendous anxiety and interfere with your normal
life, they re called phobias. A phobiais an intense fear of something that, in reality,
poses little or no actual danger. Common phobias and fears include closed in places,
heights, highway driving, flying insects, snakes, and needles. However, we can
develop phobias of virtually anything. Most phobias develop in childhood, but they
can also develop in adults. If you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He lived in the hospital in which the study was conducted. This was because his
mother was a nurse at the hospital.
Albert s baseline reactions to the stimuli were noted. He showed no fear when
presented with a rat, a rabbit, a dog, a monkey, a mask with hair, or cotton wool.
When Albert was 11 months old the experiments started.
Session One: Albert was presented with a rat. Just as he reached for it, a steel bar
behind him was hit. This procedure was repeated. After two presentations Albert was
given a week off.
Session Two: The following week the rat alone was presented. Then three
presentations were made with the rat and the loud noise. This was followed with one
presentation of just the rat. Then two more presentations with the rat and the noise
were made. Finally the rat alone was presented. So far Albert had had 7 presentations
of the rat with the noise.
Session Three: Albert was brought back five days later and given toy blocks (a
neutral stimulus) to play with.
Presentations were then made of:
The rat
A rabbit
A dog
A seal fur coat
Cotton wool
Watson s hair
A Santa Claus mask.
Session Four: To see how time had affected the response, Albert was presented with
the rat on its own five days later. The dog and rabbit were also presented, and the
steel bar was hit each time. Albert was then taken to a well lit lecture theatre to see
if the response was the same as it was in the small room used up till now.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Aluminium
Aluminium, 13th element in periodic table is a silvery white metal. Aluminium is
one of the most widespread metal in the earth s crust, constituting more than 8% of
earth s core mass. Aluminum is one of the world s most abundant metals and after
oxygen and silicon, aluminium is the third most common element present on earth.
Aluminium alloys which are widely used across the globe can be produced in two
different ways:
1.Primary alloys are produced from pure molten aluminium which are melted along
with addition elements to achieve desired properties.
2.Secondary alloys are produced from aluminium material scraps. These scraps are
low cost in nature. These scraps are re melted and are re classifying after adjustment
for main elements to achieve desired properties. These type of alloys generally have
high level of impurities.

The African Ghana Empire
Ghana, so named because of the West African Ghana Empire, home to the grand
ethnic group Soninke. The Ghana Empire was in the area of Africa that is now
Southeastern Mauritania and Western Mali. By the end of the sixteenth century,
ethnic groups that made up Ghana have already settled into their current locations.
While the dedicated archaeological research of historians and oral history have
uncovered and found remains that show that the area has had inhabitants since
around 4000 BC, to this point in time, it seems the societies that lived there did not
leave many traces for historians to study. Research does show that between 1471
and 1482 the Portuguese are the first to arrive on the coast of Guinea, known at
this time as The Gold Coast, due to the its precious minerals. Thoughts of gold,
ivory and pepper bring these settlers to this land and lead them to build the first
European structure in the country. The first structure ever built here is a fortress
named Elmina, which means, the Mine. This makes way for the Gold Coast to
become the lead supplier in gold to Europe. Modern Ghanaian territory was the
center of the Empire of Asante, this empire was considered to be a very advanced
state during the sub Saharan African centuries. This time was before colonial rule
and according to history, the King of the Asante Empire had at his disposal, five
hundred thousand troops that he could call on at any time. This time period was

Economic Health Of Oregon By Looking At Gross State...
The three most important indicators of economic health are output, employment and
inflation. Output is one of the indicators because if a country is producing more
output, then less people would be unemployed which leads to a healthier economy.
Employment contributes to the indication of economic health because when more
people are employed then more output can be produced contributing to Gross State
Product. Inflation is an indication because it determines how much real value is
being lost(Graham). In this paper I will analytically discuss the economic health of
Oregon by looking at its Gross State Product, unemployment and cost of living.
Gross State Product(GSP) is the total dollar value of all final output produced within
a state in a certain time period, usually one year (Schiller). The aspects that contribute
to a state s GSP are all private and public consumption, government spending,
investment and exports minus imports that occur within the states borders. GDP
reflects the valued added for products instead of the total value so that the GDP is
accurate ( Gross Domestic Product). Unemployment is the inability of the labor
force to find work and this contributes to the health of the economy. The cost of
living The current level of real GSP in Oregon is 199,393 millions of chained dollars.
The one year change in GSP from 2014 2015 was 7775 millions of chained dollars.
The change of 7775 millions of chain dollars is a big increase and is a sign that the

Essay Cac Card
Importance of a Common Access Card
By: LCpl Crisp, Darius D.
I am writing this essay about the importance of a Common Access Card. Which is
also known as a CAC card. The Common Access Card (CAC) is a United States
Deparrtment of Defense (DoD) Smart Card. The card is issued to Active duty
Military Personnel, Reserve Personnel, Civilian Personnel, state employees of the
National Guard, contractor personnel, and other non DoD government employees.
The CAC is the size of a standard credit card and stores 64 or 128 kB of data storage

identification card as well as for authentication to enable access to DoD computers,
networks, and certain DoD facilities. It also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In order to fix a CAC card, you need to have access to a RAPIDS facility. One of the
most advanced smart ID card programs in the United States is the Department of
Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC), a smart card that serves as the DoD
standardidentification for active duty military personnel, selected reserve
personnel, civilian employees, and eligible contractor personnel. The CAC is the
principal card used for logical access to DoD computer networks and systems, and
it will be the principal card used to enable physical access as systems are installed
for authentication and access at DoD facilities in the future. As of July 2004, DoD
has issued over 5.4 million smart cards. (This number includes reissues to
accommodate changes in name, rank, or status and to replace lost or stolen cards.) As
of the same date, approximately 3 million unterminated or active CACs are in
circulation.
DoD has deployed an issuance infrastructure at over 930 sites in more than 25
countries around the world and is rolling out more than 1 million card readers and
associated middleware. A key goal of the CAC program is to meet DoD s mandate
to sign all electronic mail and other electronic documents digitally. Future plans
include using the CAC to sign and encrypt e mail, expanding the number of portals
capable of doing Web based e business using PKI authentication tools, adding a

Puerto Rican Political Parties
As a child growing up in Puerto Rico I attended many political campaigns with my
father. He was the true meaning of the word fanatic when it came to politics and he
had been a politician at an earlier time in his life also. He believed with every fiber
in his body that Puerto Rico should become the fifty first state of the United States.
My father passed away not seen his dream come true.
In Puerto Rico, political parties are associated to the three status choices. There is
the New Progressive Party that supports statehood, also the Popular Democratic
Party for the commonwealth status and the Puerto Rican Independence Party that
prefers as it s name state, independence. These three ideals have painted the
landscape of the island s political history with the pro statehood and pro
commonwealth parties with the vast majority of followers. For over 100 years, these
two main choices have divided the island s people and both parties believe that ...

Kyoto Protocol And Its Effect On The Earth s Natural
Cycles
I. INTRODUCTION
About 200 years ago, a wave of modernization and industrialization began and spread
across the planet. A few decades later, from the beginning of the second half of the
20th century, global changes were measurable. This marked the beginning of the
Anthropocene , and era where human activity became a force affecting the Earth s
natural cycles.
One of these changes is a global planetary warming, causing more frequent droughts
or heavy rains depending on the locations, ice cap melting at the Earth s poles and
rising sea levels, triggered by the emission of massive amounts of man made
greenhouse gases, mostly carbon dioxide (Holland 2015). This warming impacts
everyone on the planet, and developed/industrialized countries contributed to it. Thus,
a solution based on international cooperation was needed to make a huge effort to
revert these changes, and make sure developing countries won t make the same
mistakes.
The Kyoto Protocol to the UNFCCC, effective in February 2005, is a treaty put in
place to reduce the man made greenhouse gas emissions causing global warming
(Suzuki 2014). There are two broad goals that can clearly be identified with regards
to this treaty:
1)Reduce the overall man made carbon footprint balance generated by developed and
industrialized countries. This goal can be broken down into specific quantifiable
targets:
a.Decrease raw carbon emissions under a specific limit imposed in the Kyoto treaty;
b.Increase the amount of carbon

Historians make the case for years circa 1000 1200 CE as a turning point in European

Orthodox church separated. Previously there was only the Catholic religion in Rome,
but now there was a split between this and the Orthodox sect of Christianity. The
Byzantine Empireadopted Orthodox Christianity while western Europe continued to

Manors were self sufficient landholdings that included the manor house,
outbuildings, peasant village, and surrounding land. Serfs lived in manors and
were completely controlled by the nobles of the manor. Serfs worked crops, tilled

provided political and physical protection; the serfs were loyal to the lord of the
manor, unlike earlier, people were loyal to the king. The decline of Roman culture
led to the rise of Germanic customs. The warfare also led to knights being the
central figure of the military and the development of new military technology; there
was more iron production to create knight s armor. There had never been knights
before, only Roman soldiers or the Hoplites of ancient Greece. Another system that
developed at this time was feudalism. Feudalism was land awarded for military
service; kings and lords gave land (a fief) to supporters in return for sworn military
support. In Rome, citizens needed to own land in order to join the military, however,
they were not given land for military service. Another change in this period was

Becoming A Chiropractor Since My Junior Year Of High
School
When I first started this assignment, I had no idea who or what to interview. As I
put more thought into it and looked at my options, I saw an unbeatable opportunity
to do my paper on. I have been interested in becoming a chiropractor since my junior
year of high school. Although I have never been to a chiropractor before, I began
doing research on the profession when my rural town got its first chiropractor.
According to spine health.com, the definition of a chiropractor is a health
professional focused on the diagnosis and treatment neuromuscular disorders, with an
emphasis on treatment though manual adjustment and/or manipulation of the spine
(Yeomans). With this being said, it is evident that becoming a chiropractor is not a
simple task. A chiropractor is a doctor, not a physician who can prescribe over the
table drugs but a doctor of the spine. There are only a hand full of schools in
continental North America in which one can attend to obtain a chiropracticdoctorate.
Furthermore, there are only 17 schools in American and a mere two in Canada.
Since there is not a large demographic of people who are chasing a chiropractic
doctorate and only a few schools to choose from, tuition is often times too expensive
for the majority of people. However, those that can afford the schooling may be
shocked to find that it is structured in trimesters rather than semesters. Each trimester
is around 12 to 13 weeks long and depending on the school you attend, either 10 or 12

the fish population. As seen in the basic economic theory the triple bottom line

The global fish farming community recognizes the need for change and adaptation to

make Transparency among the customer, stakeholders etc. He also said that it is now
considered as a new concept and a tool for management in corporations. Among
organizations a management model is defined for gaining responsibility. And he also
listed the limitations. (ГЃngeles Gil Estallo, MarГa ,2007)
It plays an important role in attracting people that your company is socially
responsible. They made their mind sets that if they will invest in your company than
you will provide them with profit as well as environmental and social aspect. So they
are more likely to invest in those companies which practice CSR.
Peifer, Jared in 2014 told about both economic and ethical domains. He explained that
how the economic and ethical behavior effect the Shareholder s money. Ethical
behavior of corporation attracts more loyal funds towards them. Investor level of
loyalty is there even when company has low returns proves this. He also said that
funds loyalty is decreased when the company has aim only towards economic
motives of company while it is vice versa in case of a company that has ethical
motives. (Peifer, Jared,2014)

The advantages of CSR are more as compared to disadvantages. Attig, Najah, in 2013

The Book Of Six Thinking Hats By De Bono
De Bono s book of Six Thinking Hats (1999) is a well defined book on the
framework that can change the direction of team meetings. It allows all participant
to share their views with parallel thinking. It can assist a group of people in coming
up with creativity without the egotistic that some people may have. The hats can be
used one at a time or in sequence to solve a particular topic or ideas without
arguments.
While learning that De Bono created the six thinking hats with the colors of white,
red, black, yellow, green, and blue. Each color has its direction for the participants

Analysis Of John Milton s Paradise Lost
Within holy heaven, Satan infuses the sin of pride into the atmosphere by raising up
against God, the King of all authority. Such opposition meets the Lord of all who
casts this arrogant angel down into the depths of hell a place where evil abounds.
This opposition proves only the beginning of ensuing warwhich will intensify until
Godsilences it in the depths of hell. In Paradise Lost, John Milton uncovers the
brewing embers of this war right from its first spark. Milton expounds upon the fall
of Satan with the intent of giving his readers a taste of the tension which this war
between God and Satan gives. This taste will spark an understanding within the
readers mind of the presence of this ongoing present war. Throughout this piece of...

With evil and rebellious pride intertwined, Satan will and can never consider
untangling these fibers but will strengthen them through his resolve to war. Satan
s fall from his rank of esteem transformed him into the antithesis of evil. As a fallen
creature of God, Satan no longer loves holiness and righteousness. Instead, he wars
against anything that reflects the pure character of God. Since Satan s character
opposes the character of God, Milton coined the name, Apostate Angel, to denote
his enmity against God (1.125). In every aspect of his mindset, actions, and
motives, Satan acts in opposition to the manner that God acts. Essentially, the
enmity seeps down to the very core and essence of Satan s being. Not one fiber of
Satan s being desires to do good but only evil. Satan s new fallen character gives
allegiance only to strengthening and carrying out of evil. For all eternity, Satan
wars against God by twisting and seeking to destroy the will of God. Not even for
a moment will Satan rest from pursuit this goal. All of Satan s energies, must be to
pervert that end the will of God which triumphs over his opposing will (1.164). Such
opposition from God only intensifies Satan s fury to continue to oppose God s
winning will. Every time God executes his will, Satan seeks to divert it through his
many tactics. Whenever Satan attacks the will of God, God carries his will through
despite the onslaughts. Despite this fact, Satan moved
James Cone Essay
A Black Theology of Liberation
By James H. Cone
Christian theology is a theology of liberation. It is a rational study of the being of
God in the world in light of existential situations of an oppressed community, relating
the forces of liberation to the essence of the gospel, which is Jesus Christ. (pp. 1)
James H. Cone stresses the idea that theology is not universal, but tied to specific
historical contexts. In A Black Theology of
Liberation James, Cone explains what Black theology is and uses the Exodus story,
found in the
Old Testament and the life of Jesus Christ, New Testament, to give examples of the
oppression and liberation. Cone believes both stories are vital and necessary in

To be able to attain true freedom they must destroy all of their whiteness, become
black, and try with every means possible to bring about the liberation of their new
community. The oppression African Americans have felt through slavery and
discrimination have made them God s chosen people, so understanding God and his
will cannot be done independent of understanding their community. In fact,
understanding the God of Black theology, the only true theology as Cone sees it, is
not possible by white people as they are oppressors and it is not possible for them to
understand the oppressed community and their condition or to understand the nature
of God, as he is the God of the oppressed.
In Cones discussion on Black theology he critique White theology, the theology of
oppressors because even the historic Black church has been controlled by White
theology and the wrongs of this theology must be shown and realized so that the true
Black theology can be followed. Cone frames a theology of liberation from within
the context of the Black experience of oppression, understanding the central core of
the Gospels as Jesus identification with the poor and oppressed and the resurrection as
the ultimate act of liberation.
In Chapter 6, Cone digs deep into the New Testament and uses the New Testament as
evidence on Jesus relationship to the oppressed. James Cone believed that the New

Describe The Relationship Between Organelles And
Eukaryotes
a.
Firstly, the cytoskeleton is one of the many membrane bound organelles which is
only found in eukaryotic cells and not prokaryotic counterparts. The cytoskeleton is a
series of proteins within the cell which provides the cell with shape and support. The
cytoskeleton also mediates some aspects of movement by helping the cell move in its
environment and by controlling the movement of other cell components. A second
organelle which eukaryotes possess and prokaryotes do not possess includes the
Golgi apparatus. The Golgi apparatus initiates Golgi bodies towards modifying,
sorting, and packaging macromolecules for cell secretion (also known as
exocytosis). The Golgi bodies also modify and regulate proteins which are provided
by the ER. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some the evidence for this theory include the mitochondria and plastids which can
be identified in a eukaryot; however, prokaryotes originally also have the same
functional capabilities as the mitochondria, as well as plastids. Perhaps the
mitochondria s development is simply a result of condensing the process of energy
creation into a single organelle and the development of plastids was a result of
prokaryotes also being capable of completing a similar task; however, felt the need
for condensing this task into a single
Quote By Steve Biko
In the movie Bopha by Morgan Freeman, South Africans are faced with a challenge
that they have to overthrow their government that is using apartheid to oppress their
human rights. Throughout the movie there was many traumatic events from the
Afrikaners who were fighting apartheid to free their minds. One of the most
famous quotes from one of the most influential leaders of the anti apartheid
movement is still known around the world, The most potent weapon in the hands
of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko The quote given by Steve
Biko means that the Government can strip the people of everything they have, but
they will always have their minds. The government would try ways to keep people
quiet, such as either throwing them in jail or banning them, which meant that they
could not write or speak publicly, or that they could not meet with more than one
person at a time. Steve Biko is a perfect example of a person getting banned, which is

The Determinants Of The National Business Environment
Essay
To better understand why some nations are more competitive than others, Porter
conducted the research in order to look for determinants in the national business
environment that can explain why in some countries firms in particular industries are
more successful than those in other nations . (Ard Pieter de Man, 1997, p. 48) The
research culminated in framework known as diamond which describes the
determinants of competitive advantage. Porter identified four attributes that promote
or impede the creation of competitive advantage: (1) factor conditions, (2) demand
conditions, (3) related and supporting industries, and (4) firm strategy, structure, and
rivalry . (Dirk Morschett, 2015, p. 176)
Factor conditions, represents the nation s factors of production, such as climate, land,
natural resources, skilled labor and infrastructure. Demand conditions, refers to the
nature and size of the domestic demand for an industry s products and services (Dirk
Morschett, 2015, p. 178). Related and supporting industries determinant refers to the
existence or non existence in the national environment related suppliers and other
industries that are competitive in international markets. Firm strategy, structure and
rivalry, refers to how companies are created, organized and managed, as well as the
nature of domestic rivalry (Porter, 1990b, p. 81) Analyzing China and Egypt in terms
of the competitiveness will help to better understand how the diamond framework
works.

Reflection On Team Work
This essay will reflect on my experience during an activity which required team
work and leadership. I will be using Gibbs Reflective Cycle (Reid, 1994) to support
my structure and to help me reflect further into my experience. This activity was
carried out in Todd s Leap (an outdoor activity centre); my team and I were required
to pass a golf ballthrough pipes across 40m to a bucket at the end with a time limit
of 10 minutes. Within my team there were 12 people and each person had a 1m
pipe. The team and I had to piece the pipes together so that the ball could fall
through without falling to the floor; if the ball fell we then had to begin again. This
activity was made competitive as we were competing against another team who were
carrying out the same activity.
As a team leader it was my role to ensure everyone was in the correct place and were
communicating effectively. This was a difficult activity and resulted in our team
dropping the ball numerous amount of times. The opposing team had went into the
lead as they had got the hang of where they had to place their pipes and therefore had
potted 9 balls in while we only potted 2. I noticed a few minutes before the time ran
out that my team where not holding their pipes at the correct height resulting in the
ball falling to the floor which meant we had to start over again. I re evaluated the
situation and quickly improved our positioning; this then resulted in 5 more balls
being potted. Unfortunately by the time we began to catch up, it was too late and the
bell rang to indicate time up. The consequence of this was that our team came second
with 7 balls while the other team won the competition with a total of 9 balls.
At the beginning we were put into groups where I was elected as team leader. I
was quite nervous due to the fact I did not know anyone within my group.
However, I quickly started to focus on the activity at hand and was excited to begin;
considering I am an extremely competitive person. During the experience I felt
determined to establish a perfect technique to result in the highest amount of balls
being potted in the bucket. Once the opposing team were in the lead I begin to feel
nervous as I was afraid of losing. I was also frustrated that

Essay About Writing

  • 1. Essay About Writing Crafting an essay on the subject of "Essay About Writing" may seem like a straightforward task at first glance, but delving into the intricacies of self-reflection on the writing process unveils a challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the need for a profound understanding of the craft but also in the paradoxical nature of writing about writing. To begin, one must navigate the fine line between self-expression and self-awareness. Describing the intricate dance between thoughts and words requires a deep dive into the recesses of one's own mind, a journey that can be both enlightening and perplexing. It demands an acute awareness of the writing process itself, dissecting the choices made, the struggles faced, and the triumphs achieved. Furthermore, the challenge extends to articulating the abstract and subjective aspects of writing. How does one convey the elusive magic that happens when ideas seamlessly flow onto the paper, or the frustration when words refuse to cooperate? The inherent subjectivity of the writing experience adds layers of complexity, as each writer's journey is unique and personal. The paradox lies in the attempt to articulate the ineffable. Writing about writing requires transcending the very medium one is discussing. It involves expressing the inexpressible, capturing the essence of an art form that thrives on the ambiguity of language. It's akin to trying to describe the act of painting using only colors. In addition, addressing the multifaceted aspects of writing – from the technicalities of grammar and style to the emotional rollercoaster of creativity – demands a nuanced approach. Striking a balance between the analytical and the emotional, the technical and the artistic, is akin to navigating a tightrope where the risk of falling into clichГ©s or abstraction looms at every step. In conclusion, composing an essay on the theme of "Essay About Writing" is a challenging undertaking. It involves a self-reflective journey into the complexities of the writing process, attempting to articulate the ineffable while balancing the technical and emotional facets. It is a paradoxical endeavor that requires a delicate dance between self-expression and self-awareness. Adaptive smoothing spline extends single parameter to a function varying in different domains and adapting the change of roughness. In this paper, using Hermite Spline, we
  • 3. Sherman Alexie In the book,The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, Sherman Alexie portrays how many Indigenous people struggle with the problem of racism: in Alexie s character s case, it makes Junior doubt himself, but it also creates a pathway and a drive for Junior to leave the reservation and makes others and Junior stand up for himself and for his culture. To begin, Alexie makes Junior doubt his culture because Alexie made Junior believe that white people are better in general. Junior thinks this because even the people around Junior think that white people are better and because they have more hope a dialogue from Junior and his parents prove this , Who has the most hope? White people, my parents said at the same time, (Alexie 45). This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Racism created a pathway because it made Junior think that just because white people put them there, they have to stay there. The quote, Reservations were meant to be prisons, you know? Indians were supposed to move onto reservations and die. We were supposed to disappear, (179) proves that Junior thinks that the reservations were truly meant for, to be places where the government could just dump them and forget about them. He thinks that people on the reservation were just supposed to die there, but that was actually happening and no one was trying to make their life better, Junior wants to be the one who leaves the reservation and help himself. Another point is when Mr.P is talking to Junior about the reservation schools, which this quote, We were supposed to make you give up being Indian [...] Man at that second, I hated Mr.P, I wished I had a whole set of encyclopedias to throw at him, (35) proves the point because it shows how much hate he had for Mr.P and the people who did that, it fueled his determination and hate to the point he could actually throw those encyclopedias at Mr.P. Instead he used it to make a difference in his life and securing a better future for himself, by going to Reardan. In the end, Junior wants to leave the reservation because of the hate people have and it s is fueling his drive to
  • 4. The Shawshank Redemption Analysis In the movie The Shawshank Redemption, a man named Andy Dufresne gives viewers an insight on hope, friendship, and time. It can be hard enough to survive this world as a civilian, let alone a prisoner. When Andy gets to the Shawshank prison there is not much to it besides four walls and some innocent criminals. Andy is sort of like this beacon of light coming into the prison. He doesn t come in and make things better, but he gives some of the prisoners a sense of the outside world. In a world where it is easy to get lost, hope, friendship, and time are essentials in survival. Time is not usually anybody s friend. Time is actually something that people seem to never have enough of. However, in The Shawshank Redemption, time is of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite barely having anything in common these two bright minds connected and became friends for decades. In prison it is important to have someone there. Red explains their relationship by saying I never felt really close to Andy until 1960 or so, and I believe I was the only one who ever did get really close to him . For Andy it was important to his sanity to have a person like Red. Without Red, Andy might just have gone insane. Red helped give Andy hope. While in prison Andy never let go of hope. Even through his first two years in Shawshank he still held onto hope. There were a few things that helped Andy hold on to hope, one of those things was Red. While talking to Red in a letter, Andy told him Remember Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies . This just proved how much Andy believed that hope was the one thing that nobody could ever take from him. Not only was this film about a man keeping his hope, but another man trying to regain his. Red lost his hope long ago, probably when he was first denied parole or maybe even when he was first sent to prison. He told Andy hope is a dangerous thing my friend, it can kill a man . Andy helped Red just as much as Red helped Andy. Red s view of hope was very different from Andy s, so Andy helped him see the better side of hope. When Andy pulled off his escape he helped Red see that there is
  • 5. Bata Case Study Quality of BATNAs: Does either side have a good BATNA? Do they know each other s BATNAs? In both 2012 and in 2016, the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) showcased the immense power of every union s BATNA under the NLRA: the ability to strike. 30,000 teachers took to the streets, 350,000 students were out of school, and hundreds of thousands of parents were forced to adjust their schedules. The strength of the strike option depends largely on the current political environment and the strength of the counterparty s alternatives. Often, counterparty s BATNA to negotiating concessions with a union is to utilize temporary workers or to allow weaker unions to bankrupt themselves by allowing the strike to continue until union coffers are empty.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This BATNA would do little to alleviate the short term consequences, however. They were left with only a few options: make a deal or resort to their weak BATNA, which was to open schools for partial days, increase police surveillance on the streets, and have community organizations provide activities to keep children busy. The city knew the CTU had a strong BATNA that seemed to grow stronger by the day as constituents grew angry and annoyed: continue striking. Because this BATNA was so powerful, the city offered teachers a more agreeable deal. The union relied on the fact that city leaders would suffer more than the teachers from disruption as the strike continued. When this materialized, Emanuel had no choice but to concede. Building Rapport: Why trust is key. We talked a great deal in class about the importance of viewing negotiations as opportunities to work together to achieve both party s interests by viewing the discussion as a joint problem solving exercise. Paramount to this is mutual trust and respect between parties. In the negotiations between the CTU and Mayor Emanuel, little trust or respect existed. Several experts cite this lack of rapport as a major contributor to the strike. From day one, Mayor Emanuel lobbied the legislature in Springfield for education reform that would redefine collective bargaining in Chicago. His reforms
  • 6. The Inspector Calls Character Quotes Back in 1900s the younger generation were said to be more naГЇve to everyday life that their ideas were not as important as the older ones. But the truth is that they are more open to ideas and opinions which include Capitalist and Socialist ideas. Throughout the play the younger generation become more accepting to the right side, the Socialist side. The quote showing this is when Eric said Well, I don t blame you. But don t forget I m ashamed of you as well yes both of you. This quote also shows that once you were on the right side, you became the new and improved older generation. Eric is important in the playto show that the younger generation can change and become better people in the future. Eric was one of the last characters that ... He first took advantage of a drunken girl and made her pregnant and then stole money from his father s work. The role of the Inspector is to show that everyone has done something bad and should accept it unlike an actual Inspector which would send you to jail, or worse, kill him. As for Eric, he has accepted he has done something very wrong and accepts that he must do something to repay his father back for the money he stole. The quote that says this is I intended to pay it back. As for making Eva pregnant, he wanted to help the child which was as much as he could have done since she told him to go. Eric here shows that even that he had committed crimes; he still manages to find a way to fix things
  • 7. The Current Five Step Program Enacted By The Department Of... The current five step program enacted by the Department of Human Services is both inefficient and permissive, calling for minimal action and few opportunities for the reconnection of a family. Often times, case workers of the Department of Human Services (DHS) attempt to persuade young people into removal and treatment with no clear understanding of the challenges that the familyfaces. Case workers, although inclined to tell you they are there to keep the family together, often lead to tearing a family apart because of the lack of assistance offered by DHS. A study done by Roan Fairbairn and David Murray explored the gaps in care provided by DHS and its workers, with the outcomes of the youth involved; most importantly targeting how case workers interacted with youngpeople, stating that strategies that attempt to engage young people in a dialogue about their individual circumstances, including drug use, may be more effective than attempts to coerce them into treatment. They go on to explain that practioners with the best intentionsintervene and inadvertently cause more harm for the clients than if they had not acted at all. (Fairbairn and Murray 18) Little is available in terms of a nationwide change. In recent years, a call to action has been released with a keen eye on the lack of progress made by DHS to change their system. The Children s Bureau is one of many organizations that plan to tackle this issue head on. Upon review of DHS it was discovered that of the
  • 8. The Relationship Between Human Relations And Public Relations Human relations refers to everything we do with, for, and to each other as citizens and as human beings (Dempsey, 2014, pg. 330). An example is officers integrating ongoing training initiatives for departments to establish respect within communities, regardless of color, ethnicity, economic status or sexual orientation. Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds strong relationships between the public and organizations. The public relations approach reflects efforts to improve the public s perception of the police, by informing the public why departments and officers do what they do and enhancing their public image as first responders and community helpers. Community relations really ties both human relations and public relations together. Communities rely on police departments to protect and serve and the police, in turn, rely on community support and cooperation, but the relationship is not always harmonious (RAND, 2017). They could be either negative or positive, depending on the type of interaction. An example of this is by taking active interests in the community problems, participating in local government, or simply going to youth activities such as middle/high school events. Involvement in community programs and neighborhood projects can bring the citizens together with police by creating a purpose to build unity and show a more personable side of the police. 2.Discuss the rapid increase in the minority population and the challenges it presents for law enforcement in communities that have not previously faced this issue. In your answer, explain why multicultural understanding is critical. Use at least one outside source to support your answer. (10 points) America has always been known as a melting pot , especially with all the minority population that embodies society (Fire Science Online, 2017). But today law enforcement is faced with many challenges with certain racial and ethnic compositions. Ethical and racial minorities regarded 90% of the population growth in the United States from 2000 2010, and the United States is very rapidly becoming even more diverse (Dempsey, 2014, p. 334). These conflicting accounts arise, in part, because of differing
  • 9. Pirated and Counterfiet Software Ethics is one of the fundamental building blocks for all organizations. Specifically, information ethics directly relates to Management Information Systems. Information ethics includes the ethical and moral issues arising from the development and use of information technologies. This also includes the creation, collection, duplication, distribution, and processing of information itself with the aid of computer technologies. This paper will focus on the illegal duplication and distribution of software. There are two primary ethical areas concerning software: Pirated software and counterfeitsoftware. Pirated software is the unauthorized use, duplication, distribution, or sale of copyrighted software. Software publishers maintain ownership of the software they create and only they control the right to duplicate and distribute their products. Counterfeit software is software that is manufactured to resemble authentic software and is sold as such. This could include the illegal copying and distribution of commercial software on DVD or CD. This is typically accomplished using a CD burner. New technology has made it much easier for consumers to be deceived by counterfeiters via high quality packaging and fake products that are nearly impossible to distinguish from authentic software. Software publishers are continuously looking for ways for consumers to be able to distinguish whether they have purchased authentic or counterfeit merchandise. Many companies are attempting to
  • 10. Racism and Slavery in Oronooko Even works of literature that intend to have a good message can be interpreted and read the wrong way. The novella, Oroonoko written by Aphra Behn, is a great example of this. Oroonoko is the story of the Royal Slave. It is written in the perspective of a white colonial woman in the eighteenth century. I found the novella to have a lot of subtle racial undertones despite the fact that during that time it was seen as an anti slaverynovel.(1) There have been debates on whether this novella is pro slavery or anti slavery? While reading, I decided that it was neither, but more so a novella from a revolutionist point of view. One of the first things that sticks out is the way in which she described Oroonoko physically. Behn stated that his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states Have they vanquished us nobly in fight? Have they won us in honorable battle? And are we by the chance of war become their slaves? This would not anger a noble heart; this would not animate a soldier s soul. (6) So essentially he believes that slaves are good and they help with work around the house , but the only way to get slaves is through war. One could argue that he was against slavery because later after he is captured upon a ship, he makes this long speech about freedom and wanting all the other slaves to be free. Oroonoko only makes this speech after he finds out that Imoinda is expecting a child and his appeal for freedom is denied. I am inferring that Oroonoko may not actually give two shits about the slaves, but is more so concerned for the safety of his family and he simply uses the slaves to get his family to safety . The Author seems to have found herself in Oroonoko. She most likely, inherently believed that slaves were only rightfully owned if they are received through a war victory. I also got the vibe that Behn has romanticized slavery. Instead of showing slavery for the cruelty it truly contains, she plays it up in this sort of ecstatic affair between a prince, prince s grandfather and a beautiful woman. One instance of romanticized slavery is when Caesar and Clemene first realize who they are, and they have a sort of reunion party at the House of Slaves. Behn writes that there is loud barbaric music and a delicious

  • 14. The Consequences Of Monetary Policy Monetary policy has to do with the regulations that a government puts in place to control money in circulation in the economy. An effective monetary policy will ensure that current and anticipated events in the economy of a country are taken care of. The Federal Reserve (The Fed) is the central bank of the United States, and it is responsible for the formulation and execution of these policies. Banks made available huge amounts of money available in form of loans; banks were responsible for creating large debts in form of loan interests. People who had borrowed were eventually unable to pay. The creation of private credit and money led to a financial crisis, threatening to make banks bankrupt. The same banks now became weary of lending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lenders felt the burden left by defaulters and their capital reduced. Subprime borrowers are those borrowers who have low credit ratings and poor creditworthiness. The subprime mortgage market meltdown began on 9 August 2007 and continued into 2008 (Cecchetti, 2008). It arose when banks created a lot of money in a short time and used the opportunity to raise house prices and speculations on financial markets. Initial subprime mortgages were affordable and many borrowers were attracted to them. However, they were adjustable after a given duration. It is this adjustment that instigated many defaults in payments, mostly beginning in 2007 when higher payments were demanded. By 2009, banks were going bankrupt due to the high number of defaulted mortgage payments. Also, lenders came up with creative mortgage packages upon speculations of growing house prices. With mortgage backed securities (MBS), the process of securitization occurs whereby home mortgages are grouped into categorized pools by the issuing banks. They are then sold as a single security where the risks are spread out. These pooled assets backed securities were attractive to both lender and borrower because lender sold the loan and borrower accessed credit easily. Such collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) were sold to other market investors to reduce the risk of default. These investors were attracted by the higher returns, especially due to the lower interests. During the liquidity period, as
  • 15. Summary Of Mumu By Ivan Turgenev The paper starts off with a phrase which goes on to be explained further on. Almost every intellectual claims to have the welfare of humanity, and particularly the welfare of the poor, at heart: but since no mass murder takes place without its perpetrators alleging that they are acting for the good of mankind, philanthropic sentiment can plainly take a multiplicity of forms . I understood this phrase from a wrong perspective until I went ahead to study what exactly the author Theodore Dalrymple meant by this saying. The story of two European writers is one I enjoyed, having to see how two people could have just about the same live, or need I say the same events take place in their lives, can two people be so exact and at the same time be so different? Ivan Turgenev and Karl Marx, were both born into this world on the same day in 1818 and died the same day in 1883, whenever Turgenev saw something single like men, Marx saw classes or a group of men. Turgenev s story Mumu was one about the days of serfdom, garasim who was a deaf servant, served his master, and later on discovered a puppy who he loved so much, he then took care of the puppy and nurtured it but his master was not ok with having the puppy around, with everything that was done in other to keep the puppy away from garasim, the puppy still made its way back to him. At the end, the master ordered that the puppy be killed because of its disturbance and garasim volunteered to kill the puppy himself, which he

During that examination, Gilbert communicated to Laurel Creek staff that he could not use his hands well enough to write or hold a pencil. Gilbert was otherwise found to be mentally competent. Gilbert s sister, Rachel Combs, arrived after Gilbert, she offered to sign the admissions forms, but Laurel Creek employees told her that it was their policy to have the patient s spouse sign the admissions papers if the patient was unable to sign them. REASON Laurel Creek first argues that this is a case of actual agency and that Anna Bishop has actual authority as Gilbert s agent to sign the admissions paperwork as is therefore bound by the arbitration agreement therein. We agree with Laurel Creek that Gilbert created an actual agency relationship between him and his wife. According to his sister, Rachel, Gilbert specifically asked that his wife be brought to the nursing home so that she could sign the admissions documents for him, and Anna acted upon that delegation of authority and signed the admissions papers. This is consistent with the creation of actual authority as described in the Restatement (Third) of Agency В§ 2.01, comment c (2006). The Restatement explains the rationale for the creation of actual agency in three steps. First, the principal manifests assent to be affected by the agent s action. In the instant case, Gilbert asked that Anna come to the hospital to sign the papers for him. Second, the agent s actions establish the agent s consent to act on the principal s behalf. Here, Anna signed all the admissions papers per her husband s request and therefore consented to act on Gilbert s behalf. Third, by acting within such authority, the agent affects the principal s legal relations with third parties. Clearly here, Anna s actions affected Gilbert s relations with Laurel Creek, a third party. The trial court acknowledged that Gilbert had the

A right versus right situation occurs when one is faced with an urgent and intricate situation that makes you make choices about your integrity and moral character (Badaracco Jr., 2009). The essential features of a moral dilemma are that people are required to do one of two or more actions. When people are given a choice it creates a moral dilemma. If the people seems condemned to moral failure, no matter what he or she does, they will do something wrong or possibly fail to do something that he or she ought to do. (MCConnell 2014) Some individual are concerned that their concepts do not allow for moral dilemmas to have more than stability in mind. It is known to be somewhat concerning, that theories that allow for dilemmas failure to be uniquely action guiding. A theory can fail to be uniquely action guiding in two different ways, by suggesting incompatible actions in a situation or by not suggesting any action at all. (McConnell2014) Badaracco, in 2009, used the situation of a guy named Steve Lewis as an example case to review, Steve had to make a decision about taking a trip with his job. In this dilemma, Steve knew that it had nothing to do with the color of his skin, but this case had the

I assume that the literature that is present from hundred years ago until now, displays a shift of religion to nature. Religion used to be the basis for most of the things, but as new ideas approached, nature began to replace it. Not implying that nature completely replaced religion, but it became a new way to understand the world. I believe there is always going to be a debate on which way to understand the world is the best. Religious people would argue that the bibleis the guide for lives and the way to control the world, but on the other hand, science also tries to explain this idea. William Bradford, from 1590 to 1657, on his writing Of Plymouth Plantation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How would it pleased God to see a person die in a desperate manner even if they had sin? God gives us life and would pardon our sins if we seek for him. However, I believe the puritans, including Bradford, felt that there was no option of forgiveness. According to what I have read in Bradford s story, I would say that religion could make someone selfish. I am not against religion, but this is what I conclude based on this literature. I feel this way because it seems that they just think for themselves. They believe they are perfect and that anyone else is evil. I feel that being a religious person, should not make them feel superior like the puritans did. I believe that in God s eye we are all the same, but the puritans saw the Native Americans as savages and not pure. An example of this is in the first encounter the puritans had with the so called savages. Thus it pleased God to vanquish their enemies...and by his special providence so to dispose that not any of them were either hurt or hit... (79) In my point of view, here is a clear example of how they are being selfish. They are just worried about them not being hurt, but what about the savages? I feel that religion means caring for everyone, but here I see the opposite of that. Again, how God would be pleased by an
  • 19. Essay about Persuasion in 12 Angry Men In his article, The Necessary Art of Persuasion , Jay Conger stated that persuasion is NOT about selling or convincing; rather, it is a learning and negotiating process. Good persuaders use and listen to ongoing and active discussions (or debates) to learn about their audience and include different opinions into a shared conclusion. In the movie 12Angry Men , juror number 8 (Henry Fonda) was not sure if evidence presented against a young defendant in court left reasonable doubt for a guilty conviction. The other jurors believed the presented facts and the defendant s background warrants a guilty conviction. It is critical to identify the tangible benefits and values that really matters to people being persuade. Effective persuaders consider what is important to an audience and lays his or her position to match common ground with the audience. This is a give and take process. Effective persuaders also use testimonies, past and current research, etc and readjust their argument to make them appealing to their audience. Persuaders must know an audience well enough to know what will capture their immediate and continued attention. Juror number 8 was in a situation where there is no common ground between him and the other jurors. All are from diverse backgrounds and uncomfortably brought together to deliberate the facts in an open and shut murder trial. Juror number 8, wanting to just talk , kept reconsidering and adjusting his position with the other juror s positions about the defendant until a common was reach in the deliberation. Again, this is a give and take process and is effective if properly done right. The third essential step is presenting evidence to an audience. Conger stated that evidence alone will not convince an audience to support a position or an idea. Evidence can appear too abstract and not entirely informative. Persuaders, Conger noted, use stories, metaphors, analogies, examples, etc and use vivid language skillfully to paint a compelling big picture of their point of view. This approach is far more effective than stating facts in

  • 25. Economic Health Of Oregon By Looking At Gross State... The three most important indicators of economic health are output, employment and inflation. Output is one of the indicators because if a country is producing more output, then less people would be unemployed which leads to a healthier economy. Employment contributes to the indication of economic health because when more people are employed then more output can be produced contributing to Gross State Product. Inflation is an indication because it determines how much real value is being lost(Graham). In this paper I will analytically discuss the economic health of Oregon by looking at its Gross State Product, unemployment and cost of living. Gross State Product(GSP) is the total dollar value of all final output produced within a state in a certain time period, usually one year (Schiller). The aspects that contribute to a state s GSP are all private and public consumption, government spending, investment and exports minus imports that occur within the states borders. GDP reflects the valued added for products instead of the total value so that the GDP is accurate ( Gross Domestic Product). Unemployment is the inability of the labor force to find work and this contributes to the health of the economy. The cost of living The current level of real GSP in Oregon is 199,393 millions of chained dollars. The one year change in GSP from 2014 2015 was 7775 millions of chained dollars. The change of 7775 millions of chain dollars is a big increase and is a sign that the Oregon

A few decades later, from the beginning of the second half of the 20th century, global changes were measurable. This marked the beginning of the Anthropocene , and era where human activity became a force affecting the Earth s natural cycles. One of these changes is a global planetary warming, causing more frequent droughts or heavy rains depending on the locations, ice cap melting at the Earth s poles and rising sea levels, triggered by the emission of massive amounts of man made greenhouse gases, mostly carbon dioxide (Holland 2015). This warming impacts everyone on the planet, and developed/industrialized countries contributed to it. Thus, a solution based on international cooperation was needed to make a huge effort to revert these changes, and make sure developing countries won t make the same mistakes. The Kyoto Protocol to the UNFCCC, effective in February 2005, is a treaty put in place to reduce the man made greenhouse gas emissions causing global warming (Suzuki 2014). There are two broad goals that can clearly be identified with regards to this treaty: 1)Reduce the overall man made carbon footprint balance generated by developed and industrialized countries. This goal can be broken down into specific quantifiable targets: a.Decrease raw carbon emissions under a specific limit imposed in the Kyoto treaty; b.Increase the amount of carbon

With evil and rebellious pride intertwined, Satan will and can never consider untangling these fibers but will strengthen them through his resolve to war. Satan s fall from his rank of esteem transformed him into the antithesis of evil. As a fallen creature of God, Satan no longer loves holiness and righteousness. Instead, he wars against anything that reflects the pure character of God. Since Satan s character opposes the character of God, Milton coined the name, Apostate Angel, to denote his enmity against God (1.125). In every aspect of his mindset, actions, and motives, Satan acts in opposition to the manner that God acts. Essentially, the enmity seeps down to the very core and essence of Satan s being. Not one fiber of Satan s being desires to do good but only evil. Satan s new fallen character gives allegiance only to strengthening and carrying out of evil. For all eternity, Satan wars against God by twisting and seeking to destroy the will of God. Not even for a moment will Satan rest from pursuit this goal. All of Satan s energies, must be to pervert that end the will of God which triumphs over his opposing will (1.164). Such opposition from God only intensifies Satan s fury to continue to oppose God s winning will. Every time God executes his will, Satan seeks to divert it through his many tactics. Whenever Satan attacks the will of God, God carries his will through despite the onslaughts. Despite this fact, Satan moved
  • 43. James Cone Essay A Black Theology of Liberation By James H. Cone Christian theology is a theology of liberation. It is a rational study of the being of God in the world in light of existential situations of an oppressed community, relating the forces of liberation to the essence of the gospel, which is Jesus Christ. (pp. 1) James H. Cone stresses the idea that theology is not universal, but tied to specific historical contexts. In A Black Theology of Liberation James, Cone explains what Black theology is and uses the Exodus story, found in the Old Testament and the life of Jesus Christ, New Testament, to give examples of the oppression and liberation. Cone believes both stories are vital and necessary in understanding God and God s relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To be able to attain true freedom they must destroy all of their whiteness, become black, and try with every means possible to bring about the liberation of their new community. The oppression African Americans have felt through slavery and discrimination have made them God s chosen people, so understanding God and his will cannot be done independent of understanding their community. In fact, understanding the God of Black theology, the only true theology as Cone sees it, is not possible by white people as they are oppressors and it is not possible for them to understand the oppressed community and their condition or to understand the nature of God, as he is the God of the oppressed. In Cones discussion on Black theology he critique White theology, the theology of oppressors because even the historic Black church has been controlled by White theology and the wrongs of this theology must be shown and realized so that the true Black theology can be followed. Cone frames a theology of liberation from within the context of the Black experience of oppression, understanding the central core of the Gospels as Jesus identification with the poor and oppressed and the resurrection as the ultimate act of liberation. In Chapter 6, Cone digs deep into the New Testament and uses the New Testament as evidence on Jesus relationship to the oppressed. James Cone believed that the New

Firstly, the cytoskeleton is one of the many membrane bound organelles which is only found in eukaryotic cells and not prokaryotic counterparts. The cytoskeleton is a series of proteins within the cell which provides the cell with shape and support. The cytoskeleton also mediates some aspects of movement by helping the cell move in its environment and by controlling the movement of other cell components. A second organelle which eukaryotes possess and prokaryotes do not possess includes the Golgi apparatus. • 48. The Determinants Of The National Business Environment Essay To better understand why some nations are more competitive than others, Porter conducted the research in order to look for determinants in the national business environment that can explain why in some countries firms in particular industries are more successful than those in other nations . (Ard Pieter de Man, 1997, p. 48) The research culminated in framework known as diamond which describes the determinants of competitive advantage. Porter identified four attributes that promote or impede the creation of competitive advantage: (1) factor conditions, (2) demand conditions, (3) related and supporting industries, and (4) firm strategy, structure, and rivalry . (Dirk Morschett, 2015, p. 176) Factor conditions, represents the nation s factors of production, such as climate, land, natural resources, skilled labor and infrastructure. Demand conditions, refers to the nature and size of the domestic demand for an industry s products and services (Dirk Morschett, 2015, p. 178). Related and supporting industries determinant refers to the existence or non existence in the national environment related suppliers and other industries that are competitive in international markets. Firm strategy, structure and rivalry, refers to how companies are created, organized and managed, as well as the nature of domestic rivalry (Porter, 1990b, p. 81) Analyzing China and Egypt in terms of the competitiveness will help to better understand how the diamond framework works. • 49. Reflection On Team Work This essay will reflect on my experience during an activity which required team work and leadership. I will be using Gibbs Reflective Cycle (Reid, 1994) to support my structure and to help me reflect further into my experience. This activity was carried out in Todd s Leap (an outdoor activity centre); my team and I were required to pass a golf ballthrough pipes across 40m to a bucket at the end with a time limit of 10 minutes. Within my team there were 12 people and each person had a 1m pipe. The team and I had to piece the pipes together so that the ball could fall through without falling to the floor; if the ball fell we then had to begin again. This activity was made competitive as we were competing against another team who were carrying out the same activity. As a team leader it was my role to ensure everyone was in the correct place and were communicating effectively. This was a difficult activity and resulted in our team dropping the ball numerous amount of times. The opposing team had went into the lead as they had got the hang of where they had to place their pipes and therefore had potted 9 balls in while we only potted 2. I noticed a few minutes before the time ran out that my team where not holding their pipes at the correct height resulting in the ball falling to the floor which meant we had to start over again. I re evaluated the situation and quickly improved our positioning; this then resulted in 5 more balls being potted. Unfortunately by the time we began to catch up, it was too late and the bell rang to indicate time up. The consequence of this was that our team came second with 7 balls while the other team won the competition with a total of 9 balls. At the beginning we were put into groups where I was elected as team leader. I was quite nervous due to the fact I did not know anyone within my group. However, I quickly started to focus on the activity at hand and was excited to begin; considering I am an extremely competitive person. During the experience I felt determined to establish a perfect technique to result in the highest amount of balls being potted in the bucket. Once the opposing team were in the lead I begin to feel nervous as I was afraid of losing. I was also frustrated that
