Essay About Water
Crafting an essay on the subject of water might seem deceptively straightforward at first glance,
as water is an omnipresent and seemingly simple element. However, delving into the depth of
this topic reveals its intricacies and challenges. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between
presenting basic information and exploring the multifaceted aspects of water that make it a
complex and vital entity.
The challenge begins with the need for extensive research to gather a comprehensive
understanding of the various dimensions of water – from its chemical properties and physical
states to its ecological significance and global distribution. Furthermore, navigating through the
vast pool of information to select relevant and engaging content becomes a daunting task. It
requires a careful selection process to avoid drowning the essay in unnecessary details or,
conversely, presenting a shallow perspective.
The intricacy of expressing ideas coherently adds another layer of difficulty. Transforming
technical data into a flowing narrative that captures the reader's attention while maintaining
academic rigor is a delicate balancing act. Moreover, conveying the importance of water without
lapsing into clichГ©s demands a creative approach, making the writing process both challenging
and intellectually stimulating.
Additionally, addressing the global water crisis, pollution, and sustainable practices brings ethical
considerations into play. It requires a nuanced discussion that acknowledges the severity of the
issues while fostering a sense of responsibility and hope.
In conclusion, writing an essay about water necessitates a meticulous blend of scientific
knowledge, creative expression, and ethical awareness. It challenges the writer to navigate
through the depths of information, skillfully weave a compelling narrative, and inspire readers to
reflect on their relationship with this fundamental element. It is a task that demands not only
intellectual prowess but also a genuine passion for raising awareness about the importance of
water in our lives.

Cuban Missile Crisis Analysis
The Cuban Missile Crisis, also known as the Missile Scare, was a 2 week period in
October of 1962 that was a result of increasing tensions amongst the United States
and the Soviet Union. Tension between the US and the USSR is not new and is
known as the Cold War, often stated to be a period between 1945 until the collapse of
the Soviet Unionin 1991. Intelligence gathered over the span of couple months all
seemed to lead to the common conclusion that the Soviet s are installing offensive
nuclear weapons that will be able to reach continental US in mainland Cuba. The
initial spark seemed to be the awfully failed attempt to invade Cuba, also known as
the Bay of Pigs invasion under the Kennedy administration, and the presence of
American Jupiter Ballistic missiles in Turkey and Italy. What is interesting about the
Cuban Missile crisisis how the Kennedy administration confronted the issue. The
Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top military officials of the United States pushed for a full
on invasion, which could trigger a world wide nuclear war. Kennedy wanted to
avoid a full on confrontation, making him seem intelligent but weak . In the film,
Thirteen Days, based off the memoir of Robert F. Kennedy, Thirteen Days, where
Robert wrote about his point of view of the Cuban Missile Crisis, revealed how
complex and mentally demanding it was to resolve and dissipate tensions with the
Soviet Union without causing World War III. Photographic intelligence taken by a
spy plane going over mainland Cuba revealed about 40 intermediate range ballistic
missiles capable of reaching continental United States. There were 3 options;
diplomatic talks and international pressure, a blockade, or a full on invasion. The
Joint Chiefs of Staff pushed for a full on invasion, meanwhile the Kennedy s pushed
for a less aggressive move. EXCOMM, the Executive Committee of the National
Security Council composing of the NSC and key advisors the President hand
picked, met in the White House during the crisis to discuss how to proceed on the
issue. The film revealed how much the Joint Chiefs of Staff disliked Kennedy s
methods and how much they wished to act on their own. Nuclear missile tests were
conducted independent of the oval office, seen
How the Olympics Have Been Hijacked by Nationalism
and...
Would you agree that the Olympics are less about sports and more about nationalism
and commercialism?
When the Olympic Games were founded in 776 BC their main aim was to promote
peace and athletic excellence but over the past few years the spirit of Olympics has
been hijacked by nationalism and commercialism.
Olympic Games have been a victim of political conflicts since its inception but during
the 19th Century these games suffered the most. The Munich games held in 1936
were boycotted by many countries including Ireland and Spain as many believed that
Adolf Hitler sought to exploit the games for propaganda purposes. Nationalism also
affected the spirit of Olympic Games during the World Wars where the conflicting
blocks refused to summon on the Olympic platform to exhibit their skills and talents
in the field of sports. After the World War II many countries including the United
States boycotted the Moscow games (1980) held in Russia and the loosing countries
were not even invited to this event. There were the boycott years 1976, 1980 and
1984 when entire nations including United States and Russia stayed away because
rivals either were present there or were hosting. Therefore the Olympic Games failed a
number of times to promote peace between countries through sports. Rivalries
between conflicting countries have often delayed the Olympic Games and have
raised questions regarding the true purpose of these games. Commercialism has
New Cana A Stereotypical Community

Each of them deals with her boredom in her own way. Jane fills the void by
sleeping with Ben Hood, while Elena emulates her daughter by mounting a bicycle

distractions for those who spend all their time in the town. While the men travel to

Greek Wine Case Study
How did the development of the large states and Empires promote wine as a drink of
choice?
a.Around 870 BCE, a grand party was thrown to display the wealth of a king,
Ashurnasirpal, for a new capital in Nimrud in the Mesopotamia region. During this
time, the king showed off exactly just how rich the new empire was by making
available 10,000 jars of beer, and 10,000 skins of wine, and at that time wine was 10
times as expensive as beer. Not only was skins imported, but some were made from
his own vines, thus starting the craze of wine in that area.
2.What role did Greek geography play in its economic development and trade?
a.Wine was a heavy and perishable good, it wasn t able to travel long distant on land.
The only way to trade far away was to travel on water. The greek had a surplus of
wine, and easy their location had an easy accessible sea pathway to other areas ...

a.The Greek area were ideal for viticulture, and soon enough every farmer was
cultivating grapevines and olives. Farmers made up to 20 times more than growing
grain, so wine became the main export. Wine became status of wealth, and the
classes were arranged by their vineyard holdings. The larger the holding the higher
class of citizen they were.
4.What was Plato s view of democracy? How did Plato s symposium differ from
others?
a. Plato believes that too much power is held by ordinary people like a father with
his children. Plato also believed that the wine pourers represent the power of
democracy, and they have encouraged people to drink too much freedom, aka wine.
Plato s symposium had the aspects of good and bad human behaviors, with the good
outweighing the bad. For most symposiums it was an outlet of all kinds, sexual,
intellectual, social, basically just a way of dealing with any issue

Comparing Three Poems The Buried Life And This Moment
Poetry is a form of art that can serve many functions, depending on what point the
poet is trying to convey. A poet can use functions such as humor, sadness, or hope
to convey a message that can transcend eras. However, the most often used function
in the world of poetry is the use of inspiration. Often poets use short, but powerful,
lines to inspire their readers into a specific way of thinking or acting. In the poems,
Sadie and Maud , The Buried Life , and This Moment , three poems from three
different time periods, three poets use the function of inspiration to inspire readers to
follow their passions and to recognize that they come in many shapes and sizes.
In the poem, Sadie and Maud (1945), by Gwendolyn Brooks, two sisters are compared

Boland is drawing attention to how to often these tiny moments happen and we fail
to realize their significance. Everything described before the moment is still, as if
time is stopped, and it s not until the moment is over that everything begins to move
again, the moment when time resumes. Boland uses the poetic function of inspiration
to inspire us all to take time to appreciate the tiny things in our lives because
something as simple as holding a small child can be the most magical.
Poetry is a timeless form of art, where a function of poetry can be used to share a
message, idea, or perspective that was written hundreds of years ago with the
world we live in today. In the poems Sadie and Maud , The Buried Life , and This
Moment , we witnessed three poems, written in three very different time periods, by
very different poets, all portray very similar messages by using the poetic function of
inspiration. Inspiration is something that surrounds all of us, and having the ability
to find inspiration in timeless pieces of poetry is a tool we all can use, no matter
what part of society, culture, or background we come
Socrates Notion Of Ethical Obligation
Socrates was born in Athens, one of the most interesting and disturbing personalities
in all of Greek history. But, what is Socrates notion of conscience? Of ethical
obligation? How is Socrates notion related to his notion of rewards or punishment in
a text life? How is Socrates notion related to his notion of the truth? Does man owe a
duty to the truth in Socrateseyes? What did he mean when he said: the unexamined
life is not worth living ? We can see the answers in Apology that wrote by Plato.
Socrates advocated for himself that he just did everything he thought good, right to
men of Athens. He tried to demonstrate that he was not wisest man in Athens; that
people thought they know something when they do not know. Today, instead of that,
people try to get another way to get what they want; don t care about conscience.
Socrates also thought he had an ethical obligation to live with philosophy life and
exhorting people to care for the perfection of soul. He did his mission over and over
time; because he believed that his obligation; that he owed a duty to the truth. ... Show

Death will be a good thing if we done good obligation in our life. Everyone should
try to learn, to do everything better because there is the truth that we have to know
ourselves before we want to do. Because of this notion, Socrates did what he
thought, believed right; even without money and die many times over . He gave
people an advice that it is not hard to escape death; it is much harder to escape
wickedness, for that runs faster than
Television In The 50 s
During the 50 s, culture became a major focus of Australia and began to take control
of the country. There were many varieties of entertainment to appeal to the needs of
all people of Australia. And if something became popular, television would help
promote it.
Television enters the living room
Televisions were present in 90% of homes and watching television was a hobby that
nearly half the population was addicted to it. Before its arrival in 1956, many people
had to travel out to a cinema or a theatre and seek their own source of entertainment.
Whereas television was available to them for free. Within a few years, as cheap TVs
entered many more homes and soon everyone was hooked to the television, this
caused debates and many other arguments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When people had been returning from the war, there was a massive increase in car
ownership therefore roads were built all around Australia. The first Australian made
car was the Holden FX, although only a small amount of cars could be made daily.
Air travel was not a favored mode of transport for the people of the 1950 s. The
aircrafts were not a sturdy build resulting in an incredibly long and bumpy flight.
Around this time, many Australian s preferred to make their long distant journey s
using a steam train, although around the same time the diesel trains were introduces
and they quickly became the preferred way to travel as they were cleaner, faster and
most certainly more efficient. Ships were a common mode of transport for
Australians who wished to make a holiday to Europe, although this took a longer
amount of time.

There where accounts that had the same debit and credit amounts just a few days
apart. At the end of the last quarter in 2009, there were 22 sales recorded. At the
end of the previous quarters there was not a high amount of sales which leads one
to think that the sales were booked at the end of the year to make the company
meet their goal. There was also a high number of invoices with no bill of landing.
With a high number of no bill of landings, false billing is presumed. With a bill of
landing of a lesser weigh than that which was invoiced, leads to the full order not
being shipped, and over charging of the customer or that special arrangements have
been made with the customer to receive a discount for early billing. There was also
5 times where invoices where invoiced before they were shipped. This leds to the
fact that sales where most likely
Self Love And Self Compassion
The idea of self love and self compassion have been considered taboo for many
years. It came off as arrogant, narcissistic, or just plain stuck up. Anyone that
practiced self love openly was shunned and then hated for their unmatchable self
understanding. However, as years pass, the idea of openly loving oneself has
gradually become more ubiquitous leading to a generation of big headed, self entitled
teenagers who care for no one but themselves. As a consequence of this rapid
phenomenon, we must crush the self esteemof today s adolescence and make them
feel like our approval is the key to their value. Therefore, to prevent today s youth
from feeling a greater sense of self compassion and love, we must maintain our
emotional dictatorship over them by categorizing, ridiculing, and comparing them to
each other.
Many times people seem to get self esteem and self compassion confused. They are
not, by any means, the same thing. Self esteem is an individual sense of his or her
value or worth, or the extent to which a person values, approves of, appreciates,
prizes, or likes him or herself (Blascovich Tomaka, 1991). Whereas self compassion,
as defined by Strauss et al., consists of five elements: recognizing suffering,
understanding the universality of human suffering, feeling for the person suffering,
tolerating uncomfortable feelings, and motivation to act/acting to alleviate suffering .
Self esteem has been linked to narcissism and is based on factors that perpetuate the
Tenant Education
Tenant Education: a Treatment, not a Cure In Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the
American City, by Matthew Desmond, it is stated that landlords in the city of
Milwaukee evict roughly 16,000 adults and children each year, amounting to
approximately 16 families evicted daily through the court system, and many more
removed by other, even less pleasant means (4). Many communities across America
have started to offer tenant education programs to teach renters how to manage their
money and their relationships with landlords in order to avoid eviction. Tenant
education is certainly not a bad thing, but is not a complete solution to the problems
it attempts to address, because it does not address the landlords roles in housing
disputes and because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Desmond describes in Evicted Milwaukee s remarkable decline in employment,
starting with almost no unemployment in the postwar years to having an
unemployment rate in the double digits, partially due to an exodus of manufacturing
jobs. The remaining jobs paid less, since they were in the service sector rather than
unemployment (24). With the decline in well paying jobs in many parts of America,
many tenants will not have the money to pay the rent no matter what and how much
knowledge they are given about how to manage it. An effective program would have
to somehow help the tenants find safe housing, initial funding, and a job to ensure
their knowledge can then be applied to stay housed in the long term. In Evicted,
Arleen is not depicted doing anything that would seem substantial to get her evicted,
unless it is to be considered her fault that a man kicked down her door when her sons
threw snowballs at his car (Desmond 2). However, it is revealed that Arleen and her
children have been without a home many times (Desmond 3). Arleen and tenants like
her will not benefit substantially from participation in tenant education programs,
because their problems do not come from ignorance, but from the
Runaway Love Analysis
The song Runaway Love by Mary J. Blige featuring rapper Ludacris focuses on the
theme of neglect and living in poverty as a young girl in the United States. The
lyrics of the song depict the stories of three young girls of different ages, Lisa,
Nicole, and Erica, who are undergoing extreme cases of abuse at home and in their
personal lives. This is attributed to the single parenthomes in which the girls live,
where their mothers are either never home, mommas always gone , or incapable of
caring for and providing for a child, momma s on drugs getting high up in the
kitchen . The abuse in each case comes to the point where the victims no longer
believe they can withstand the torment being imposed upon them, and that their only
hope of survival and happiness is to run away and fend for themselves: Forced to
think that hell is a placed called home, nothin else to do but get some clothes and
pack, she say she bout to run away and never come back . Through the repetition of
this phrase the theme of fear and abandonment is identified, as each girl deals with
their struggling relationships with a neglectful mother, abusive father, and unstable
environment. Singer and songwriter Mary J. Bligeendured a difficult childhood filled
with violence, alcohol and drugs from a young age. Her mother was an alcoholic who
worked as a nurse. Blige s mother spent many nights working the night shift and long
hours away from home, leaving the star unattended to, with people she thought she

Analysis Of The Mental Health Of Ruby Wax
Being able to find a first person account, which provides explicit details on the mental
health of Ruby Wax has been unequivocally challenging. However, after much
research, numerous resources have been sought, which include her autobiography,
How Do You Want Me? (2002), Ted talks and more recently, her appearance on BBC
One Who Do You Think You Are? (2017), which contain accounts of her mental
health issues and her recovery.
How Do You Want Me? (2002) is an autobiographical memoir by Ruby Wax, which
details a brutally honest and touching account of her personal life, including her
upbringing, fame, marriage, children and some details of her breakdown and
recovery. Not only is the book an honest account, it is funny and irreverent.
Ruby Wax is well known for being a comedian, actress, author and recently a
campaigner for mental health. Ruby is an only child, who descends from Jewish
Austrian parents; her father was called Edward and her mother was called Berthe.
Her parents escaped from Austria in 1938, due to impending Nazi threat. They set up
roots in Evanston, Illinois. Her father set up his own business, and became a wealthy
sausage maker, and her mother was an accountant. Ruby is married to Ed Bye, who is
a British television producer and director. They have three children, a boy and two
girls.
In the book, she speaks candidly about how her parents were violent towards her
during her upbringing, and how negative her parents were towards her. She explains
What Does Eat My Flesh And Drink My Blood Mean
The Catholic church teaches that Jesus Christ is present in the Eucharist through
transubstantiation. He sacrificed himself once on the cross for all of humanity and
feeds us continually. The gift of the His Bread and Body give us eternal life. Those
who receive it need to be in a state of grace, or without mortal sin. The matter is the
bread and the wine the priest starts out with and the form is the words repeated from
the Last Supper, beginning with This is my Body, and This is my Blood. The
Catholic Churchpractices these teaching because in chapter six in the book of John,
it says explicitly to Eat my flesh and Drink my Blood. Jesusdiscredits all beliefs that
his words could have been taken symbolically by stating that they should

The Holocaust was a horrible time in history. This paper is about an amazing man,
who gave so many people hope, when there wasn t any. Oskar Schindler saved
many lives during a horrible time in history. Whoever needed help, he would do
what he could for them. He helped many people, in many different ways, but to do so
he had to overcome many challenges.
Oskar Schindler fought to save many lives, during the Holocaust. The reasons why
are endless, but many people own their lives to those reasons. He was of the very

Oskar Schindler wanted to save as many people as he could and to do that he was
willing to do anything. He spent every bit of money he had left in his possession
and traded his wife s jewelry. ( Steinhouse 9) When he had made enough he
furnished a secret hospital for the Jews. This shows how dedicated he was to
saving people and how important it was to him. Another reason he was willing to
do anything was that he knew, what was going to happen to them if he didn t step
in and help. To keep the SS away his employees records were falsified. Old people
were recorded as being twenty years younger, children were listed as adults.
Lawyers, doctors, and engineers were registered as metal workers. (Steinhouse 4)
This example tells you how much he cared about keeping these people safe. Lastly,
he took so many risks to help them but through it all he had to have hope. Cause if
he didn t all his workers wouldn t have any either. Perhaps I had become fatalistic,
or perhaps I was just afraid of the danger that would come once the men began to
lose hope and acted rashly. I had to keep them full of optimism. (Stienhouse 10)
When Schindler said that, he showed the world how selfless he was. He never once
thought about himself, it was always about those who were worse off. Oskar
Schindler helped many people in many different way, he never let anything stop
Argumentative Essay On Child Soldiers
Child soldiers are being seen more and more in places like Sierra Leone, when
young boys from age eight on up are trained in the art of warfare. However, do
these children face prosecution for war crimes? In this essay, I will try to convince
you that child soldiers are the perpetrators of violence and should face the same
punishments as childsoldiers.
My first point is that these children are no different from child criminals. If
children who kill and rob in the US face criminal charges, why not child soldiers in
other countries? The US age of child criminal child responsibility is 8. Many child
criminals have also grew up in an environment of poverty and violence, so why do
they receive even less rights than child soldiers from another country?

story. She had a twin and they were both tall, her best friend was called Tina

died. They were christians but not religious, on the margins, between belief and
disbelief (Danticat 10). she was thinking to either give up like her sister or to
survive. Giselle was a survivor. 2. One theme from Untwined is death and grief.

in the story was the car accident. As a result of the car accident, both parents got

the events were harsh to bear the grief when the family knew they lost their daughter.

Aging in America Essay 2
We all will one day face the reality of growing older. There are many aspects of this
change that will affect us in a large way. According to the Merck Manual of Health
and Aging, 1.5% of Americans are 85 or older. This research states that the number
of people 100 years or older could rise from 1 out of 5,578 in the year 2000, to 1 out
of 472 in the year 2050. It brings out that women have a longer life expectancy than
men, among people aged 65 and older in the year 2000, there were 70 men for every
100 women. For people aged 85 and older the figure was 41 men for every 100
women. The site goes on to say that approximately 11% of Americans aged 65 and
older are below the poverty line. (The Merck Manual of Health and Aging:... Show

Participation in physical activity has been shown to have many health benefits for
older adults; this study does not provide strong support that it protects against
cognitive decline. Reports have been made that physical activity may help guard
against stroke and coronary heart disease, both of which may be associated with the
development of dementia. Some studies were either limited in their scope or had
short follow up times. In all they find that for older adults, physical activity alone may
not protect against cognitive decline. (By Charnicia E. Huggins: http:/

The Effect Of Color On Testing Results
The Effect of Color on Testing Results Introduction Our experiment focused on
testing scores. We wanted to see whether the color of ink that was used on a test
would affect a student s performance on that test. We chose to conduct this
experiment in the Sterling C. Evans Library to get a wide variety of students to
take the tests since it is the largest and most central library on campus. We felt that
this way the best way to attempt to limit the other variables that could affect our
results. Our hypothesis was that red ink would cause that student to do more poorly
on the test than the student would have done on a test with black ink. Our theory
was that red ink would remind students of wrong answers on previous assignments
and create a feeling of stress and anxiety. We attempted to answer this question by
giving students of various genders, majors, and ages a test of medium difficulty in
red and black ink and analyzing the data to find out if their scores correlated with the
ink color. In order to determine whether there was a correlation between ink colors
and test scores, we measured the students number of wrong answers on the test, time
taken on the test, stress level, age, classification, gender, GPA, and college. We chose
these measures because they yielded numerical values that could be statistically
assessed, and they account for any other variables that might play into the correlation.
We measured our results using descriptive statistics, using numbers to
Pros and Cons of Attending College Essay examples
Is College Worth It? In Life today a college education is no longer an option or
privilege, but rather it is a necessity. We are raised to believe that a person needs
higher education in order to succeed in life. There is a saying, if you think
education is expensive, try ignorance. You may ask is college necessary? There are
people out in the real world that have never set a foot on a college campus before
and they are doing better than others that have their master s degree. There are
many views from both sides that have a good argument. The main reason people go
to college is because they were always told you will have a better life if you go to
college. Kids are pressured to feel that the have to go to college because, it... Show

They do not want to be looked down upon in the eyes of society so they do what
they think is best. The idea to become a productive person in society is that you
must have some sort of college education. Being a college student is seen as more
respectable, rather then being a garbage man or janitor because of the way society
looks down upon these types of careers. Going to college and receiving a degree
does not guarantee that a person is going to get a job right after they graduate. It is
sometimes hard for some graduates to find a good job because there is so much
competition with other graduates as well. Sometimes they may get a job and it
could be in a totally different field of what they got their degree for. They must
find a job though to pay off all the debt that an education has given them. Many
students feel that some classes are a waste of time and money because they learn
nothing about their chosen field. They have to take classes that have nothing to do
with their major but must take the class to meet the core education requirement of
the college. If these students receive a less than average grade in a class they feel
is unneeded then that lowers their overall GPA. The major reason of going to
college is to get a good job. College prepares us with academic knowledge in order
to succeed in the future. Many people think that a higher education is essential to
prepare a person for their future. As
Case Study of Seven-Eleven Japan Company
Supply Chain Management Case study of Seven Eleven Japan Company A.
Background Seven Eleven, a famous convenience store, was established in 1973
and had its first store in Tokyo in May 1974. It was found by Masatoshi Ito while
he thought that superstores were the wave of the future after a trip to the United
States. The company was first listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in October 1979.
During 1985 2009, the numbers of store and its annual sales experienced tremendous

Therefore, they can guarantee the freshness in the perishable products at Seven
Eleven. Also, suppliers can delivery in large amount with one full truck load as
there has a store big enough to keep the products with the method to keep the
product longer and still perish. For the cons side, because the size of Japan is
much smaller than the United State, compare with the number of stores, there are
13049 stores over the Japan and in United States are 6726. The smaller size of
land, the greater number of stores of Japan means that the density of stores in
Japan is very high, therefore customer can assess to stores more easily. On the
other hand, the low density of stores in United State may cause inconvenience to
customers and deliver a few product everyday may using too much cost with the
longer distance of each branch. Also, it will increase transportation cost at stores
because of increased delivery as Distribution Centers need to deliver the product
everyday with a few amounts in order to keep the freshness of the product. Then,
Seven Eleven will lose the economics of scale advantages, as Seven Eleven need to

Poehler Antique Mall In Empori Unpacking The Object
1.Unpacking the Object
What is this object? An antique wooden chair
What does the object look like? Antique, old, worn wood. There are curvy edges
on the backrest portion. The wood is very worn on the seat part, and there is a lot
of dust on the chair. The right side of the chair is broken in a jagged break.
Where did you obtain this object? I found this at the Poehler Antique Mall in
Emporia, KS. The antique mall is located on Commercial Street.
Where can you find similar objects? At this antique store, there were tons of old chairs
. You could find more there. I would assume that a lot of antique stores have old
pieces of furniture like this chair. There are probably a lot of these types of chairs in
older style homes. They could be found in table and chair sets, or they could be
possibly found in a church.
What is it made of? Wood and screws.
Who made it? Back in history the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found this object because I like upcycling. Taking old antique items and turning
them into something more modern and useful. I think restoring an object and making
it personal to yourself.
Who or what does this object represent? I think this object represents middle class
people. Often the middle class is overlooked and are considered average. This chair
is overlooked too because it is a piece of furniture that almost everyone has, and we
don t often think about how the chair got there or how the chair was made. I think
this is similar with a lot of people in the world. Many people go unnoticed. I hope
that by adding color to this old chair, will be like the colorful personalities many
people have, which makes them stand out above others.
What does this object mean to you? I became invested in this chair, I spent a lot of
time and money on this project. I hope the chair will add a new style to my room. It
means something special to me because I took something old and gave it a new look,
but the object still does the same
Different Training Methods Are Affective
Some of the different training methods are affective in there own way, but can they
be used for continuing employees? One of the great perks of having the business
simulation is that it can be used for all employees, new and seasoned, to be able to
develop further knowledge. With simulations they do not all have to be complex, like
having all the business processes of the organization. The simulation could simply
have specific skills related to them. These concepts could include communication,
feedback, leadership and team skills, problem solving, decision making, managing
resources, budgeting, and the list continues. Essentially every department can have its
own business simulation game to learn the processes necessary. This allows the
company to move individuals internally and allow for growth within the company.
Say they have an individual who has been doing accounting for the company and
want to promote them to finance manger, they can use a business simulation game to
have them better understand the tasks they will be performing as a finance manager
before having them go into it blind. Another example could be that the company has
noticed there is some lack of communication going on between the manager and his
employees. The simulator could enhance the mangers understanding of how to
communicate stronger, which can improve the satisfaction of employees. Being able
to take the simulation and adjust it to the necessary processes that the company is
looking to use for

The capital of Puerto Rico is San Juan. Puerto Rico is a United States Territory under
commonwealth status. Some of the major differences between the 50 states of the
US and Puerto Rico is that Puerto Rico does not share the same federal tax, but does
have similar government income tax rates. Puerto Rico does have authority over its

The Spanish colonists provided an entire new selection of food to the Taino s. The
spanish conquistadors brought pigs, chicken, many new vegetables, wheat and
sugar cane. These new items of food from the spanish had a major impact of
modern day Puerto Rico food. Another group of people to influence the food of
Puerto Rico was the African slaves. Juan Garrido was a free African Spaniard man
who was the first African to live in Puerto Rico. Garrido was the first person that
taught the Taino s who to grow wheat properly. Africans are believed to be the ones
that brought rice into the Taino diet. A Puerto Rican breakfast mainly consists of
some sort of pastry or bread and a coffee and milk. Breakfast is not major meal in
the Puerto Rican diet. Two pastries are Mallorca and quesito. Mallorca is a light
pastry bread with sprinkled sugar on it. Quesito is a common pastry. It is a flaky,
puff pastry wrapped around sweetened cream cheese. It is extremely delicious. No
Latin American breakfast would be complete without a cafe con leche. Appetizers
play a major role in Puerto Rican food. Tostones are fried plantains. A plantain is a
long green banana. Bananas are a main Puerto Rican food. ANother popular Puerto
Rican food is Mofongo. Mofongo is a mashed mound of plantains. Seafood, meat, or
vegetables is added to this dish. It is usually made with fried green plantains that are
mashed together in a pilГѓВіn (a mashing utensil),
Gen Cos Observation Report
Given the desertion of his soldiers we can observe another bias from Gen. Cos.
More specifically that the soldiers were under his control, morale was in good
standing and that the soldiers were onboard with the current campaign. Lastly, Gen.
Cos should have employed his scouts units more effectively, in order to better
monitor the movements of the Texan militia. In doing so he would have been able to
recognize that the Texans had a scout unit on the lookout for the return of Col.
Ugartechea. Taking into consideration all of these ways to counter biases and fill the
intelligence gaps that Gen. Cos had in this particular battle, let s evaluate how history
could have been rewritten. By eliminating the observation post, Gen. Cos and his

down in to three categories children, working age and pensionable age. Abbeyview
population is 20% children, 64.5% working age and 15.5% pensionable age
(Know Fife Dataset, n.d. a). Abbeyview is a small area in the east of Dunfermline
which in previous years has been notorious for deprivation, Abbeyview North was
determined to be one of Fifes poorest areas by the Scottish Index of Multiple
Deprivation, it was ranked in the top 5 due to one in three of its residents being
income deprived (Findlay, 2013). Abbeyview is mainly a residential area, which
consists of owned homes, council homes, and other social landlords, private rented
and also second homes. Owned homes make up the majority within this area at
61.7%, council houses make up 24.6%, and other social landlords make up 10.3%,
private rented makes up 3.1% and second home makes up 0.3% (Know Fife

Tidal Energy In Nova Scotia
Over the years, Nova Scotia has been trying to make the transition into using more
renewable energy, as conventional energy is very harsh on the surrounding
environment. This can be a difficult task, as renewable energy is much more costly
and is less reliable than conventional energy. Conventional energy is beneficial for
Nova Scotia because the resources needed are abundant and affordable (Scheid,
page 1). Just seven years ago, Nova Scotia was at 10% renewable generation and in
2015, by law, Nova Scotia Power had to get that number up to 25%. By 2020, the
province should be at 40% renewable generation so something must be done over
the next few years to get Nova Scotia there. I believe that the most effective way for
Nova Scotia to balance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is why tidal energy generation would be much more efficient than
hydroelectricity energy generation in Nova Scotia because there are not many
strong flowing rivers. The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) located in
California stated that the Bay of Fundy had potential to be the best site in North
America for tidal energy generation. I believe that Nova Scotia should take
advantage of these tides and use them as an important resource for our province.
After the costs of the infrastructure and maintenance, tidal energy generation would
be essentially free, as the tides move on their own. A lot of energy can be created
through tides, as tidal power is very sensitive to speed. The amount of energy
formed is the cube of the speed of the water. For example, if the speed of the
flowing water doubles, the energy output is eight times greater. This energy can be
formed from both the change in the height of tides, which is potential energy, and
the flow of the water, which is kinetic energy.. As of now, the main technologies
used are in stream devices, barrages, and tidal lagoons. I think the best solution for
Nova Scotia right now would be to build a tidal lagoon in the bay of Fundy. A tidal
lagoon is like a barrage (which is essentially a dam built across the whole estuary) but
it can be built as a self contained structure. This makes the cost much lower and they
can also continuously generate, unlike a

have tried their luck at becoming the next Miss U.S.A. For any aspiring pageantstar,
becoming the next Miss Universeor Miss America is very quintessential, but these
titles are not the only ones aimed for. There are thousands of pageants held each year

Some people approve of the influence that pageants have on girls and some do not.
Pageants can be seen as a way to instill certain qualities and attributes in young girls
in which they lack. Confidence is something that can be gained as a result of being
introduced to pageants at such a young age. Girls have become accustomed to
public speaking or knowing how to carry ones self in a professional or graceful
manner. This quality of pageantry could easily be accepted by a large audience.
The portion of child pageants that people are not really fond of, is the aspect of
young girls having the appearance of adults. The phrase Growing up too fast is
used to characterized child pageants greatly. Young girls are trained to look and act
a certain way in order to win someones approval. These girls are being taught that in
order to be considered beautiful you must look, act, and dress a certain way. When
did being chubby, having pale skin or missing teeth become an issue for children.
Physical perfection should not be on the minds of young girls at such tender ages;
instead they should focus more towards being indivduals not
A Summary Of Bush s Speech
In a remarkable turn of events, eight months later after announcing he was running
Bush suspended his campaign. But in a race for the Republican nomination marked
by change, one thing had not: His message. I committed that I would campaign as I

speech. Going everywhere, speaking to everyone, keeping my word, facing the issues
without flinching and staying true to what I believe. Bush, the former two term

the primary to win the general without violating your principles. In countless town

After reading these two articles Consumers and Their Brands: Developing
Relationship Theory in Consumer Research by SUSAN FOURNIER and
Conceptualizing, Measuring, and Managing Customer Based Brand Equity written
by KEVIN LANE KELLER. The main idea of these two articles is exploring the
relationship between consumer and brands. And this do interests us and we learn a

These two authors come up with the new theory based on specific perspective that is
really helpful to understand the relationship between customer and brands. Firstly,
they use the different approaches to testify their theories. After that, they analyze the

The author mentions that brand knowledge has two components, brand awareness
and brand image.
For the future researchers and marketing managers, this is the basic discussion of
how to build the concept of customer based brand equity, how to measure it and how
to manage it.
Brand awareness concludes recognition and recall; it matters because it determines
how well the brand identities serve the function, marketing managers should care
about it because it is important to the extent that products decisions made in the
store. All marketers want that the customers will think of the brand when they think
of the category. They want to make a node in the memory of the customers; so
narrow down the time they make decision to buy the brand. On the other hand, all
the companies want to deliver a good image of their brand, what they need to work
on is not only product itself, but also the non product related stuff, like price,
packaging, user imagery, usage imagery and so on.
The author puts out with direct and indirect measuring approaches. Both of them are
for measuring how the customers know about their brand. Once they handle that if
the customers are familiar or understand this brand very well, they can manage this

Summary OfThe Yellow Pill Short Story
Sanity is in the mind of the beholder; one man s reality may not be the reality of
everyone. This becomes a sticking point when two men meet in either a
psychiatrist s office or in the depth of space in the short story The Yellow Pill.
Since both men cannot be in reality, the story takes place in a comfortable office
based on evidence from the story. Throughout the story, Mr. Elton talks with
Gerald Bocek in his office about the details of Jerry s crime. It is at the end of each
conversation they have in the office that proves them to be on Earth. Mr. Elton
tells the police officers to take Gerald out of his office and back to the mental
ward. For example, after their first conversation Mr. Elton says, All right, take him
away. Bring him back the same time tomorrow. The two officers pushed him
firmly toward the door. The officers taking Gerald out of his office every time they
talk shows that they are on Earth and not in space. Gerald would die immediately
if he was taken outside of a spaceship, because of the lack of atmospheric pressure
and oxygen. Gerald also comes back into Mr. Elton s office each day which means
he couldn t have died in space, which would be caused from leaving a spaceship
every time Mr. Elton and him talk. In the story Mr. Elton is discussing the
problems about Gerald Bocek with Helena, but before they had started talking
Gerald had told Mr. Elton to take a pill and that nothing bad would happen. During
Mr. Elton s conversation with Helena he says, I took one three years ago when
they first became available. You d be surprised how little you actually see of what
you look at, especially of people. You look at symbols instead. I had to cancel my
appointments for a week. Mr. Elton is proving that the pills blurred his sense of
reality. This shows that the pills cause hallucination and the reality Gerald is living
in is a messed up reality, furthering the argument for why they are on Earth.
Towards the end of the story after Mr. Elton has taken the yellow pill and Gerald
ejected himself from what they considered the airlock. When Gerald had ejected
himself it is described as, Jerry s chest quickly expanded, then collapsed as a mixture
of phlegm and blood dribbled from his

Smart Growth Initiative in the Face of NJ Landscape...
Smart Growth Initiative in the Face of NJ Landscape Change
The face of the American landscape has undergone a period of fantastic change in
recent decades. With an expanding population and innumerable opportunities for
economic and physical growth, urban centers and sprawling suburbs have pushed
farther and farther into outlying areas causing pressures and development on
previously untouched, natural lands. New Jersey has become, in many ways, the
focus in dealing with issues of sprawl and development within its relatively small
space. The most densely populated state in the nation, New Jersey often acts as a
predecessor in both having and dealing with issues of environmental concern and/or
damage. Within the past ten years, the issue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The initiative itself is a bold step in the right general direction made by a group that,
perhaps, bears some of the greatest responsibility in deciding how the future
American landscape will look and feel to those who inhabit it. Unfortunately, where
much is gained, it is often easy to overstep in trying to reach a point and, in turn, miss
the important details. The National Association of Home Builders cites the United
States Department of Agriculture in claiming that the amount of land used in the
nation today for growing crops is virtually identical to 50 years ago and losing
farmland to urban uses does not threaten total cropland or the level of agricultural
production. Albeit an optimistic prospect to the easy observer, this may be all well
and fine for the landscape of the entire United States, but the whole is nothing
without its essential parts. New Jersey, because of its dense urban and suburbanized
population and plentiful but limited resources, is at the forefront of land use/land
planning in the 21st century with some buildout analyses speculating that the state
has little more than ten years before reaching maxing out it s habitable area. As
such, New Jersey is a prime example of why the National Association of Home
Builders claim that the net total acreage of agricultural land in the United States is
misleading as it does not consider
The Sovereignty And Goodness Of God
As time passes, the expectations that society has on women has changed. Many of
these expectations had to be met for the woman to be complete with her role in
society. In Rowlandson s time, her expectations were to be a housewife, a mother,
and a religious follower. Rowlandson s, The sovereignty and Goodness of God
demonstrates the role she had when she was in the colonies and how that role
changed as she became captive by the Natives. From her writings, one can infer her
place at home and how that changed as she became captive. It begins with her
omission of the soldier s failure to protect them from the Natives. While she writes
about the horrendous death some soldiers receive, she does not mention much
about their courage to protect the colonist. This can only be inferred as she begins
her writing with the attack. Although, she does not say what she expected of the
soldiers, her whole family stayed inside their home expecting to be saved and for
the attack to come to an end. She as well as the other women within the household
were to take care of the children and the home. It is only when the fire over her
head forces her to escape outside, only to get shot and taken captive. This is
demonstrated later on her writings in the fifth remove, English army after them to
this river, and saw the smoke of their wigwams, and yet this river puts a stop to
them. God did not give them courage or activity to go after us (294). Therefore,

The Destructive And Wrongful Use Of Solitary Confinement

The Destructive and Wrongful Use of Solitary Confinement
Very few prison systems and prison facilities use the term solitary confinement:,
instead referring to prison segregation or placement in restrictive housing (Solitary
Watch, FAQ).
Solitary confinement is the total isolation of inmates who are feared for being a
danger to society, the prison system itself for 23 hours a day from days to even
decades. Solitary confinement was established in the 1800 s, where it initially
started off as an experiment but is now being used as a first resort instead of being
used for the worst possible scenarios for many correction facilities in North America
to this present day. Prisoners are becoming mentally ill and are extending their time in
segregation by participating in self inflicted harm. Another word for the term jail is,
correction facility.
Solitary confinement is a form of cruel and unusual punishment and should be re
evaluated for overseeing the human rights of the inmates being held. Throughout the
time of being placed into the solitary confinement unit, many inmates continuously
become more and more disturbed.
As a result of being kept in polity confinement for extensive amounts of time,
prisoners begin to feel like they have nothing left to lose , thus, participating in self
destructive behaviours. According to The Canadian Medical Association Journal, 14
of 30 prison suicide in the
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Trypanosomiasis
African Trypanosomiasis (Sleeping Sickness) Introduction: African
Trypanosomiasis also known as African sleeping sickness is a devastating zoonotic
disease caused by a protozoan subspecies of Trypanosoma through the bite of insect
vectors of the genus Glossina (tsetse flies). Other than the biting of flies, mechanical
transmission through abraded wound also evident from the research. It appears in
different forms, is affected by varied epidemiological and ecological processes, and
so is difficult to pin down. One major consequence of this is that there has been, and
remains, great controversy about how to control the disease, and what to focus on
through what methods. As per epidemiological triad approach, Trypanosomiasis is

To control a wide range of ectoparasites in cattle, synthetic pyrethroid have been used
since long. Synthetic pyrethroid like Deltamethrin is found to be most potent and
persistent, with safety and efficacy against ectoparasites even at very low dosages. It
is evident from various research studies that Deltamethrin is effective on large group
of ectoparasites like tse tse flies, ticks and mosquitoes. Also, cattle dipping with

The Value Of College Athletics
The Value of College Athletics Athletic programs in college have grown
tremendously since they first began years ago, and now some believe that collegiate
athletics have no place in higher education. Contrary to this, if one takes a closer
look they see that college athletics do play a valuable role in higher educationand
should continue to play a part in the collegeexperience. Students who participate in
college athleticshelp carry out their school s traditions, and by competing at such a
high level they have the chance to put their school on the map. While competing,
these people handle the load of a full time college student and learn to be
responsible and reliable. Some see college athletics as just a business, but truly they
provide an opportunity for young adults to compete in the sport that they love, while
getting an education and learning lessons that will last a lifetime. For 150 years,
college sports have been an important aspect of American universities and abolishing
them would eliminate the benefits that they bring ( College Athletics Programs ).
One of the greatest benefits of college athletics is that they bind the school to the
community. People who live in a college town love to support their institution and
showing up at numerous athletic events displays how far their dedication goes. Not
only do college sports attract people who live in the college town, but also alumni
and future students. The school s spirit and unity extends far beyond the
Iphone Vs. The Iphone
With everything going on in the world it is laughable how people are constantly
arguing over whether the Android beats the iPhone or vice versa. For a numerous
amount of years, iPhones and Androids have competed for the prestigious title of the
best phone a person could buy. Although iPhones and Androids share similar
features, when a sense of competition is presented, there has to be only one winner.
There are some people who are undoubtedly loyal to the iPhoneand there are others
who are certainly devoted wholeheartedly to the Android. There is also the mix of
people who have an Android but love the iPhone and people with the iPhone who
love the Android. Of course they are other phone brands out there other than the
illustrious iPhones and Androids. The difference in Android and iPhone features,
such as communication, freedom, apps, display size, etc., demonstrates how some
good healthy competition could cause people all around the country to debate with
one another on a daily basis.
With a wide range of different phone designs, more freedom to do what you want,
and an applaudable display size, some people prefer the Android over the iPhone.
Although the iPhone has offered more choices than when they first came out, a
customer still only has three screens and five colors to choose from (Smith). The
android has more options with waterproof phones, different screen sizes, more colors,
different materials and so much more. Androids have so many phone companies a

CARMAX CASE: Executive Summary CarMax broke industry records in 2013 and
has successfully grown into a leader in the used car industry. However complications
have emerged as a result of duplicators attempting to copy their no hassle offers in the
highly competitive used car market. Therefore, CarMax s primary concern is staying
ahead of the competition and eliminating threats from potential future disruptions
from competitors. Therefore the key question we will try to answer in this analysis
of the CarMax case is, can CarMax continue to grow successfully given the threat of
new competitors entering the market? After thorough analysis of the situation, our
team has come up with a series of recommendations that will allow CarMax to...

The overall issue for Carmax is their decline in growth. The company would like to
continue to expand, but tough, copycat competition is debilitating it s growth within
the country. Their disruptive model allowed them to become the leader within their
market. So their fear is that a future company could disrupt their business model, just
like Best Buy did to their parent company Circuit City. Final Recommendations
Recommendation 1: Expand the Parts and Service Department: As mentioned in the
issue analysis the margin received from this by CarMax is very high. It receives
more than 14% than its closest competitor (Penske). Target Market: Customers who
have bought cars from CarMax in the past. Key Actions: In order to attract more
customers to purchase the services and parts from CarMax, they should offer
attractive bundles to customers when buying a car. When the customers buy a car,
they can include service for an additional fee which will be more lucrative than
buying the service individually. This might seem more lucrative for the customer.
Investment Required: In the short term, there would be a very small investment of
advertising but as the sector keeps going they would need to stop outsourcing to third
parties and build their own parts and service branch which will be capital intensive to
The Effects of Adolescent Substance Abuse Essay
According to current statistics released by the United States Department of Health
and Human Services, In the United States in 2011, there were an estimated 25.1
million adolescents aged 12 to 17. In the past year, more than one quarter of
adolescents drank alcohol, approximately one fifth used an illicit drug, and almost
one eighth smoked cigarettes ( A Day in the Life of American Adolescents, 2013,
para. 1). Substance abuse is major problem amongst adolescents. Some are
experimenting, but some adolescents may become dependent on a particular
substance. If one becomes dependent on a substance as an adolescent it could be
detrimental to their future health and success as an adult. Spear (2003) stated in an

The whole brain is developing during this age. More importantly, the hippocampus
is the region that develops memory/learning and the prefrontal cortex involves
coordination and the process of emotions (Spear, 2003, figure 7). The severe
interruptions in growth are dependent on the amount of consumption. (slide #5) I
chose Erikson s Development Model to formulate a nursing plan of care for an
adolescent that suffers from alcohol abuse. Erikson s theory consists of eight stages
and places large emphasis on adolescent growth and development, which I find
appropriate for this type of patient. The first five stages cover birth to age eighteen
and the last three are adult stages of growth development. The first stage is Trust vs.
Mistrust (birth to 18 months). In this stage, an infant is completely dependent on the
primary caregiver. If cared for appropriately, the child will learn to trust. If the child
s needs are not met the child will be left with mistrust, scared, and fearful. The second
stage is Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt (18 months to age 3). This stage is a
participating factor in self esteem. During this stage a child begins exploring, walking
around, touching, and tasting, anything/everything available. Criticism is sensitive to
the child. A child in the second stage wants to be independent and do everything
themselves. The caregiver must give some freedom to
Dangers Posed By The Fast Food Industry
Dangers Posed by the Fast Food Industry
A nation s diet can be more revealing than its art or literature (Schlosser, 3).
Historically, few trends have been as popular in the United States as fast food.
From Burger King to Taco Bell to McDonald s, it seems that numerous fast food
restaurants dot every corner; in fact, specific restaurants have now even joined
forces, so that a Taco Bell and a Pizza Hut might coexist within one building.
Statistically, Americans eat a great deal of fast food, and the industry is extremely
profitable. People enjoy this food because it is inexpensive, convenient, and
designed to satiate desires for strong flavors, especially tastes for salt and fat.
However, this food comes at a higher cost than the low prices on menus would
indicate; due to its contributions to the obesity epidemic, the dangers posed to teen
workers at restaurants, and the targeting of children and poor communities, fast food
poses a significant danger to the citizens of the United States.
To begin with, the product itself poses numerous risks to consumers. The
unhealthy nature of fast food has long been known: these foods contain an
abundance of fat, sodium, and sugar. Even as recently as 2006, researchers have
discovered additional health risks posed by fast food products. In Fast Food Fats
Prove Health Hazard, Kathleen McGowan explains: The dangers of trans fatty acids
a cornerstone of fast food cooking were confirmed in June, when a study at Wake

California by Dick and Mac McDonald of Manchester, New Hampshire. It was

(See Appendix 2 for details of the Dreikurs Approach) Dreikurs called the need of
all humans to belong and feel part of a group the genuine goal of human social
behavior . Dreikurs thought that when learners are not able to gain their genuine
goal of belonging they turn to a series of misguided goals which he recommended
several methods to deal with these misguided goals. The Dreikurs approach dictates
that teachers could achieve positive classroom behaviour by helping learners achieve
their genuine goal of belonging, by involving learners in decisions that affects their
learning. Involving learners in setting classroom rules is one example of how

Pythagoras, Plato, And Plotinus
Philosophers have been known to take the ideas and teachings of other philosophies
and then shape their own philosophies from them. Even if they do not outright claim
they have done so or that they were influenced by an earlier philosophy, one can still
find links between philosophers and their theories. Pythagoras, Plato, and Plotinus,
though from all different historical and philosophical periods, formed philosophies
similar to one another or built upon aspects from one another s.
Pythagoras (Ancient History Encyclopedia)
Pythagoras, am Ionian Greek mathematician and philosopher during the naturalist
period, is known for the creation of the Pythagoreanism movement. Although very
little reliable information about him has been written due to the lack of his own
writings, he still served as a major contributor to philosophy, religion, and
mathematics. Pythagorean thought emphasized personal salvation, reincarnation,
numerology, and focused on a strict religious, philosophical, and mathematical
regime. Pythagoras also believed in the value and the power of numbers, believing
the elements of numbers could be found in all things. He felt a person should study
mathematics in an effort to pursue enlightenment and understanding of the world.
Since the life of Pythagoras is greatly unknown, other than the fact that he was born
in 570 BC, one can piece together the historical events which might have impacted
his life and teachings. He lived during the Greek Archaic Period when the

The traditional Roman calendar included a none day feast of the ancestors, known as
the Parentalia, that started on the 13th of February and concluded on the 22nd.
February 22 was devoted to the celebration of a festival in memory of the dead of
each family, and the Church of Rome adopted this date to serve the same function
(All Souls Day on November 2nd was introduced to the Christian liturgical calendar at
the beginning of the eleventh century). In the Roman Empire, the cult of the dead was
a family cult. Relatives and friends would gather at the tomb and share a symbolic
meal with the deceased. Christians, whose tombs were among non Christian ones,
often those of parents and friends, did the same. They also gathered together to

A Virtual Platform By Malcolm Gladwell
In this age of technology advancement and with the inventions of smart devices
such as mobile phones, tablets home computers that give people access to the
whole world through social media platforms. One often wonders what are the
people, who have an easy access to issues and matters across the globe doing ?
Where are they spending most of their time and what are they up to?The simple
answer to that question is that a relatively larger number of existing human beings
nowadays are spending their time,on their smart devices addressing their views on
socio political issues. Also, can this selected population of human beings, advocate
for social change just by scrolling through critical issues, liking and sharing their
opinions on them while also typing their comments,in a virtual platform. Malcolm
Gladwell effectively critiques 21st century social activism because history suggests
that traditional activism has shown to bring about change in the real world by
tackling issues at hand in reality, rather than debating on them in a Facebook Group.
Gladwell,in his article, discusses the high level of intimacy required among
individuals who seek to carry out any kind of activism.People nowadays have a
hundred followers on their Instagram profile,a thousand likes on their Facebook
Profile picture ,three hundred re tweets on a Twitter post but, they seem to have only
two real life friends. He also talks about strong and weak ties as in traditional activism

The Visual Adisement Of An Advert Analysis Of Tux Soap
The visual text about the Tux Soap is an advertisement created to convince women
that using Tux Soap for their body will improve their complexion and make them
appear more visually appealing. It is targeted at women, aged between thirteen to fifty
because society seems to demand that it is essential for women to look extraordinarily
beautiful and have flawless skin. The advertisement appeals to the targeted audience
as the beautiful womanon the advertisement with flawless skin entices young and
older women to want to try Tux soap.
Visual techniques evident in advertisement include the title, which conveys the
message that Most men ask Is she pretty? Not Is she clever? . The title misleads
women by persuading them that men only look at aspects of beauty but not
intelligence or kindness. However, it is extremely effective as women will be
attracted to the advertisement in how they can allow their beauty to be seen and
would want to read more into it. Furthermore, the dull background colours such as
the light blue and grey shades make the woman s flawless skin and her fair
complexion appear more prominent and appealing to the eye, satisfying the audience.
Moreover, the advertisement includes a larger size for the words, Most men ask Is
she pretty? and a smaller size is utilised for not Is she clever? this differentiation
convinces the audience that being prettier is more important than being clever. It
makes us sense that beauty is more powerful than intelligence.
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Block Grants
Grant writing is a great skill to have, especially if you are planning to have a career
in the criminal justice field. What many do not know however is that there are many
different types of grants. Each type of grant has its own unique purpose, advantages,
and disadvantages. These different kinds of grantsinclude block grants, employment
grants, program grants, technology grants, construction grants, and researchgrants. It
is important to educate yourself on these different types of grants so that you can
have a better understanding of the skills needed to be a successful grant writer.
Frist, we have block grants. A block grant is basically when the federal government
gives out large amounts of money to local and state authorities in order to funds
things such as public enforcement, law enforcement, or community development.
Often times there is a lot of discretion given in regards to how the money is spent,
so there is no fine detail when it comes to how the money is going to be used. Two
examples of this kind of grant program is the Temporary Assistance for Needy
Families, also known as welfare, and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Block
Grant. Welfare is used to help support low income families and the Low Income
Home Energy Assistance Block Grant is assistance to low income families to help
pay energy bills. The advantage of block grants is that it is less restrictive, but a
disadvantage could be the use of the money ineffectively.
Secondly, we have employment

Essay About Water.pdfEssay About Water. Short essay on water conservation. FREE Speech On Water Conservation ...

  • 1. Essay About Water Crafting an essay on the subject of water might seem deceptively straightforward at first glance, as water is an omnipresent and seemingly simple element. However, delving into the depth of this topic reveals its intricacies and challenges. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between presenting basic information and exploring the multifaceted aspects of water that make it a complex and vital entity. The challenge begins with the need for extensive research to gather a comprehensive understanding of the various dimensions of water – from its chemical properties and physical states to its ecological significance and global distribution. Furthermore, navigating through the vast pool of information to select relevant and engaging content becomes a daunting task. It requires a careful selection process to avoid drowning the essay in unnecessary details or, conversely, presenting a shallow perspective. The intricacy of expressing ideas coherently adds another layer of difficulty. Transforming technical data into a flowing narrative that captures the reader's attention while maintaining academic rigor is a delicate balancing act. Moreover, conveying the importance of water without lapsing into clichГ©s demands a creative approach, making the writing process both challenging and intellectually stimulating. Additionally, addressing the global water crisis, pollution, and sustainable practices brings ethical considerations into play. It requires a nuanced discussion that acknowledges the severity of the issues while fostering a sense of responsibility and hope. In conclusion, writing an essay about water necessitates a meticulous blend of scientific knowledge, creative expression, and ethical awareness. It challenges the writer to navigate through the depths of information, skillfully weave a compelling narrative, and inspire readers to reflect on their relationship with this fundamental element. It is a task that demands not only intellectual prowess but also a genuine passion for raising awareness about the importance of water in our lives. For those seeking assistance with essays or similar academic tasks, various resources are available. One such option is HelpWriting.net, where you can explore a range of services to support your academic endeavors. Essay About WaterEssay About Water
  • 2. Cuban Missile Crisis Analysis The Cuban Missile Crisis, also known as the Missile Scare, was a 2 week period in October of 1962 that was a result of increasing tensions amongst the United States and the Soviet Union. Tension between the US and the USSR is not new and is known as the Cold War, often stated to be a period between 1945 until the collapse of the Soviet Unionin 1991. Intelligence gathered over the span of couple months all seemed to lead to the common conclusion that the Soviet s are installing offensive nuclear weapons that will be able to reach continental US in mainland Cuba. The initial spark seemed to be the awfully failed attempt to invade Cuba, also known as the Bay of Pigs invasion under the Kennedy administration, and the presence of American Jupiter Ballistic missiles in Turkey and Italy. What is interesting about the Cuban Missile crisisis how the Kennedy administration confronted the issue. The Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top military officials of the United States pushed for a full on invasion, which could trigger a world wide nuclear war. Kennedy wanted to avoid a full on confrontation, making him seem intelligent but weak . In the film, Thirteen Days, based off the memoir of Robert F. Kennedy, Thirteen Days, where Robert wrote about his point of view of the Cuban Missile Crisis, revealed how complex and mentally demanding it was to resolve and dissipate tensions with the Soviet Union without causing World War III. Photographic intelligence taken by a spy plane going over mainland Cuba revealed about 40 intermediate range ballistic missiles capable of reaching continental United States. There were 3 options; diplomatic talks and international pressure, a blockade, or a full on invasion. The Joint Chiefs of Staff pushed for a full on invasion, meanwhile the Kennedy s pushed for a less aggressive move. EXCOMM, the Executive Committee of the National Security Council composing of the NSC and key advisors the President hand picked, met in the White House during the crisis to discuss how to proceed on the issue. The film revealed how much the Joint Chiefs of Staff disliked Kennedy s methods and how much they wished to act on their own. Nuclear missile tests were conducted independent of the oval office, seen
  • 3. How the Olympics Have Been Hijacked by Nationalism and... Would you agree that the Olympics are less about sports and more about nationalism and commercialism? When the Olympic Games were founded in 776 BC their main aim was to promote peace and athletic excellence but over the past few years the spirit of Olympics has been hijacked by nationalism and commercialism. Olympic Games have been a victim of political conflicts since its inception but during the 19th Century these games suffered the most. The Munich games held in 1936 were boycotted by many countries including Ireland and Spain as many believed that Adolf Hitler sought to exploit the games for propaganda purposes. Nationalism also affected the spirit of Olympic Games during the World Wars where the conflicting blocks refused to summon on the Olympic platform to exhibit their skills and talents in the field of sports. After the World War II many countries including the United States boycotted the Moscow games (1980) held in Russia and the loosing countries were not even invited to this event. There were the boycott years 1976, 1980 and 1984 when entire nations including United States and Russia stayed away because rivals either were present there or were hosting. Therefore the Olympic Games failed a number of times to promote peace between countries through sports. Rivalries between conflicting countries have often delayed the Olympic Games and have raised questions regarding the true purpose of these games. Commercialism has
  • 4. New Cana A Stereotypical Community It is 1973. New Canaan, Connecticut is a prototypical bedroom ; community. Modern homes, clean, quiet streets and plenty of greenspace lend an air of contentment to the setting. However, behind the doors of these homes discontent and ennui are thriving. amp;#8230;affluent Americans increasingly clustered in suburban areas, where jobs for women were limited and domestic help was in short supply. Husbands were away from home longer because they had to commute to work, leaving the wives to bear the complete responsibility for the family amp;#8230;The American dream of affluence in a natural, bucolic setting away from urban squalor often made it impossible for women to be anything other than housewives and ... Ben Hood is a commuter, but even when home in New Canaan, he is wrapped up in cocktails, the arms of Jane, and himself. Elena and Jane are above all else, bored. Each of them deals with her boredom in her own way. Jane fills the void by sleeping with Ben Hood, while Elena emulates her daughter by mounting a bicycle and riding down to the local pharmacy to shoplift. In New Canaan, there are few distractions for those who spend all their time in the town. While the men travel to the city to work, their wives and children are left searching for ways to occupy the idle hours. Sandy Carver spends his time blowing things up, while his brother ponders nature and the body of sexually curious Wendy Hood in a neighbor s empty swimming pool. Surrounding them all is the sour stench of a disgraced President Nixon on his last political legs and a nation withdrawing from an unpopular war in Vietnam. As they wont for nothing material, their detachment from the daily struggles of life fuels their growing separation from each other and themselves. They are forever going to talk about it in the morning ;, but morning arrives with husbands on the train and children off to school. With alcohol and sedatives never in short supply, evenings are spent discussing all but what is truly important. Elena knows that her husband is having an affair with Jane Carver, but even at the point of

  • 10. Self Love And Self Compassion The idea of self love and self compassion have been considered taboo for many years. It came off as arrogant, narcissistic, or just plain stuck up. Anyone that practiced self love openly was shunned and then hated for their unmatchable self understanding. However, as years pass, the idea of openly loving oneself has gradually become more ubiquitous leading to a generation of big headed, self entitled teenagers who care for no one but themselves. As a consequence of this rapid phenomenon, we must crush the self esteemof today s adolescence and make them feel like our approval is the key to their value. Therefore, to prevent today s youth from feeling a greater sense of self compassion and love, we must maintain our emotional dictatorship over them by categorizing, ridiculing, and comparing them to each other. Many times people seem to get self esteem and self compassion confused. They are not, by any means, the same thing. Self esteem is an individual sense of his or her value or worth, or the extent to which a person values, approves of, appreciates, prizes, or likes him or herself (Blascovich Tomaka, 1991). Whereas self compassion, as defined by Strauss et al., consists of five elements: recognizing suffering, understanding the universality of human suffering, feeling for the person suffering, tolerating uncomfortable feelings, and motivation to act/acting to alleviate suffering . Self esteem has been linked to narcissism and is based on factors that perpetuate the
  • 11. Tenant Education Tenant Education: a Treatment, not a Cure In Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, by Matthew Desmond, it is stated that landlords in the city of Milwaukee evict roughly 16,000 adults and children each year, amounting to approximately 16 families evicted daily through the court system, and many more removed by other, even less pleasant means (4). Many communities across America have started to offer tenant education programs to teach renters how to manage their money and their relationships with landlords in order to avoid eviction. Tenant education is certainly not a bad thing, but is not a complete solution to the problems it attempts to address, because it does not address the landlords roles in housing disputes and because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Desmond describes in Evicted Milwaukee s remarkable decline in employment, starting with almost no unemployment in the postwar years to having an unemployment rate in the double digits, partially due to an exodus of manufacturing jobs. The remaining jobs paid less, since they were in the service sector rather than unemployment (24). With the decline in well paying jobs in many parts of America, many tenants will not have the money to pay the rent no matter what and how much knowledge they are given about how to manage it. An effective program would have to somehow help the tenants find safe housing, initial funding, and a job to ensure their knowledge can then be applied to stay housed in the long term. In Evicted, Arleen is not depicted doing anything that would seem substantial to get her evicted, unless it is to be considered her fault that a man kicked down her door when her sons threw snowballs at his car (Desmond 2). However, it is revealed that Arleen and her children have been without a home many times (Desmond 3). Arleen and tenants like her will not benefit substantially from participation in tenant education programs, because their problems do not come from ignorance, but from the
  • 12. Runaway Love Analysis The song Runaway Love by Mary J. Blige featuring rapper Ludacris focuses on the theme of neglect and living in poverty as a young girl in the United States. The lyrics of the song depict the stories of three young girls of different ages, Lisa, Nicole, and Erica, who are undergoing extreme cases of abuse at home and in their personal lives. This is attributed to the single parenthomes in which the girls live, where their mothers are either never home, mommas always gone , or incapable of caring for and providing for a child, momma s on drugs getting high up in the kitchen . The abuse in each case comes to the point where the victims no longer believe they can withstand the torment being imposed upon them, and that their only hope of survival and happiness is to run away and fend for themselves: Forced to think that hell is a placed called home, nothin else to do but get some clothes and pack, she say she bout to run away and never come back . Through the repetition of this phrase the theme of fear and abandonment is identified, as each girl deals with their struggling relationships with a neglectful mother, abusive father, and unstable environment. Singer and songwriter Mary J. Bligeendured a difficult childhood filled with violence, alcohol and drugs from a young age. Her mother was an alcoholic who worked as a nurse. Blige s mother spent many nights working the night shift and long hours away from home, leaving the star unattended to, with people she thought she

However, after much research, numerous resources have been sought, which include her autobiography, How Do You Want Me? (2002), Ted talks and more recently, her appearance on BBC One Who Do You Think You Are? (2017), which contain accounts of her mental health issues and her recovery. How Do You Want Me? (2002) is an autobiographical memoir by Ruby Wax, which details a brutally honest and touching account of her personal life, including her upbringing, fame, marriage, children and some details of her breakdown and recovery. Not only is the book an honest account, it is funny and irreverent. Ruby Wax is well known for being a comedian, actress, author and recently a campaigner for mental health. Ruby is an only child, who descends from Jewish Austrian parents; her father was called Edward and her mother was called Berthe. Her parents escaped from Austria in 1938, due to impending Nazi threat. They set up roots in Evanston, Illinois. Her father set up his own business, and became a wealthy sausage maker, and her mother was an accountant. Ruby is married to Ed Bye, who is a British television producer and director. They have three children, a boy and two girls. In the book, she speaks candidly about how her parents were violent towards her during her upbringing, and how negative her parents were towards her. He sacrificed himself once on the cross for all of humanity and feeds us continually. The gift of the His Bread and Body give us eternal life. Those who receive it need to be in a state of grace, or without mortal sin. The matter is the bread and the wine the priest starts out with and the form is the words repeated from the Last Supper, beginning with This is my Body, and This is my Blood. The Catholic Churchpractices these teaching because in chapter six in the book of John, it says explicitly to Eat my flesh and Drink my Blood. Old people were recorded as being twenty years younger, children were listed as adults. Lawyers, doctors, and engineers were registered as metal workers. (Steinhouse 4) This example tells you how much he cared about keeping these people safe. Lastly, he took so many risks to help them but through it all he had to have hope. Cause if he didn t all his workers wouldn t have any either. Perhaps I had become fatalistic, or perhaps I was just afraid of the danger that would come once the men began to lose hope and acted rashly. I had to keep them full of optimism. However, do these children face prosecution for war crimes? In this essay, I will try to convince you that child soldiers are the perpetrators of violence and should face the same punishments as childsoldiers. My first point is that these children are no different from child criminals. If children who kill and rob in the US face criminal charges, why not child soldiers in other countries? The US age of child criminal child responsibility is 8. Many child criminals have also grew up in an environment of poverty and violence, so why do they receive even less rights than child soldiers from another country?

  • 23. The Effect Of Color On Testing Results The Effect of Color on Testing Results Introduction Our experiment focused on testing scores. We wanted to see whether the color of ink that was used on a test would affect a student s performance on that test. We chose to conduct this experiment in the Sterling C. Evans Library to get a wide variety of students to take the tests since it is the largest and most central library on campus. We felt that this way the best way to attempt to limit the other variables that could affect our results. Our hypothesis was that red ink would cause that student to do more poorly on the test than the student would have done on a test with black ink. Our theory was that red ink would remind students of wrong answers on previous assignments and create a feeling of stress and anxiety. We attempted to answer this question by giving students of various genders, majors, and ages a test of medium difficulty in red and black ink and analyzing the data to find out if their scores correlated with the ink color. In order to determine whether there was a correlation between ink colors and test scores, we measured the students number of wrong answers on the test, time taken on the test, stress level, age, classification, gender, GPA, and college. We chose these measures because they yielded numerical values that could be statistically assessed, and they account for any other variables that might play into the correlation. We measured our results using descriptive statistics, using numbers to

The idea to become a productive person in society is that you must have some sort of college education. Being a college student is seen as more respectable, rather then being a garbage man or janitor because of the way society looks down upon these types of careers. Going to college and receiving a degree does not guarantee that a person is going to get a job right after they graduate. It is sometimes hard for some graduates to find a good job because there is so much competition with other graduates as well. Sometimes they may get a job and it could be in a totally different field of what they got their degree for. They must find a job though to pay off all the debt that an education has given them. Many students feel that some classes are a waste of time and money because they learn nothing about their chosen field. They have to take classes that have nothing to do with their major but must take the class to meet the core education requirement of the college. If these students receive a less than average grade in a class they feel is unneeded then that lowers their overall GPA. The major reason of going to college is to get a good job. One of the great perks of having the business simulation is that it can be used for all employees, new and seasoned, to be able to develop further knowledge. With simulations they do not all have to be complex, like having all the business processes of the organization. The simulation could simply have specific skills related to them. • 33. Tidal Energy In Nova Scotia Over the years, Nova Scotia has been trying to make the transition into using more renewable energy, as conventional energy is very harsh on the surrounding environment. This can be a difficult task, as renewable energy is much more costly and is less reliable than conventional energy. Conventional energy is beneficial for Nova Scotia because the resources needed are abundant and affordable (Scheid, page 1). Just seven years ago, Nova Scotia was at 10% renewable generation and in 2015, by law, Nova Scotia Power had to get that number up to 25%. By 2020, the province should be at 40% renewable generation so something must be done over the next few years to get Nova Scotia there. I believe that the most effective way for Nova Scotia to balance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is why tidal energy generation would be much more efficient than hydroelectricity energy generation in Nova Scotia because there are not many strong flowing rivers. The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) located in California stated that the Bay of Fundy had potential to be the best site in North America for tidal energy generation. I believe that Nova Scotia should take advantage of these tides and use them as an important resource for our province. After the costs of the infrastructure and maintenance, tidal energy generation would be essentially free, as the tides move on their own. A lot of energy can be created through tides, as tidal power is very sensitive to speed. The amount of energy formed is the cube of the speed of the water. For example, if the speed of the flowing water doubles, the energy output is eight times greater. This energy can be formed from both the change in the height of tides, which is potential energy, and the flow of the water, which is kinetic energy.. As of now, the main technologies used are in stream devices, barrages, and tidal lagoons. I think the best solution for Nova Scotia right now would be to build a tidal lagoon in the bay of Fundy. A tidal lagoon is like a barrage (which is essentially a dam built across the whole estuary) but it can be built as a self contained structure. This makes the cost much lower and they can also continuously generate, unlike a

Girls have become accustomed to public speaking or knowing how to carry ones self in a professional or graceful manner. This quality of pageantry could easily be accepted by a large audience. The portion of child pageants that people are not really fond of, is the aspect of young girls having the appearance of adults. Brand awareness concludes recognition and recall; it matters because it determines how well the brand identities serve the function, marketing managers should care about it because it is important to the extent that products decisions made in the store. All marketers want that the customers will think of the brand when they think of the category. They want to make a node in the memory of the customers; so narrow down the time they make decision to buy the brand. On the other hand, all the companies want to deliver a good image of their brand, what they need to work on is not only product itself, but also the non product related stuff, like price, packaging, user imagery, usage imagery and so on. This becomes a sticking point when two men meet in either a psychiatrist s office or in the depth of space in the short story The Yellow Pill. Since both men cannot be in reality, the story takes place in a comfortable office based on evidence from the story. Throughout the story, Mr. Elton talks with Gerald Bocek in his office about the details of Jerry s crime. It is at the end of each conversation they have in the office that proves them to be on Earth. Mr. Elton tells the police officers to take Gerald out of his office and back to the mental ward. For example, after their first conversation Mr. Elton says, All right, take him away. Bring him back the same time tomorrow. The two officers pushed him firmly toward the door. The officers taking Gerald out of his office every time they talk shows that they are on Earth and not in space. Gerald would die immediately if he was taken outside of a spaceship, because of the lack of atmospheric pressure and oxygen. Gerald also comes back into Mr. Elton s office each day which means he couldn t have died in space, which would be caused from leaving a spaceship every time Mr. Elton and him talk. In the story Mr. Elton is discussing the problems about Gerald Bocek with Helena, but before they had started talking Gerald had told Mr. Elton to take a pill and that nothing bad would happen. During Mr. Elton s conversation with Helena he says, I took one three years ago when they first became available. You d be surprised how little you actually see of what you look at, especially of people. You look at symbols instead. I had to cancel my appointments for a week. Mr. Elton is proving that the pills blurred his sense of reality. This shows that the pills cause hallucination and the reality Gerald is living in is a messed up reality, furthering the argument for why they are on Earth. Towards the end of the story after Mr. Elton has taken the yellow pill and Gerald ejected himself from what they considered the airlock. When Gerald had ejected himself it is described as, Jerry s chest quickly expanded, then collapsed as a mixture of phlegm and blood dribbled from his

New Jersey has become, in many ways, the focus in dealing with issues of sprawl and development within its relatively small space. The initiative itself is a bold step in the right general direction made by a group that, perhaps, bears some of the greatest responsibility in deciding how the future American landscape will look and feel to those who inhabit it. Unfortunately, where much is gained, it is often easy to overstep in trying to reach a point and, in turn, miss the important details. The National Association of Home Builders cites the United States Department of Agriculture in claiming that the amount of land used in the nation today for growing crops is virtually identical to 50 years ago and losing farmland to urban uses does not threaten total cropland or the level of agricultural production. Albeit an optimistic prospect to the easy observer, this may be all well and fine for the landscape of the entire United States, but the whole is nothing without its essential parts. New Jersey, because of its dense urban and suburbanized population and plentiful but limited resources, is at the forefront of land use/land planning in the 21st century with some buildout analyses speculating that the state has little more than ten years before reaching maxing out it s habitable area. As such, New Jersey is a prime example of why the National Association of Home Builders claim that the net total acreage of agricultural land in the United States is misleading as it does not consider

Many of these expectations had to be met for the woman to be complete with her role in society. In Rowlandson s time, her expectations were to be a housewife, a mother, and a religious follower. Rowlandson s, The sovereignty and Goodness of God demonstrates the role she had when she was in the colonies and how that role changed as she became captive by the Natives. From her writings, one can infer her place at home and how that changed as she became captive. It begins with her omission of the soldier s failure to protect them from the Natives. While she writes about the horrendous death some soldiers receive, she does not mention much about their courage to protect the colonist. This can only be inferred as she begins her writing with the attack. Although, she does not say what she expected of the soldiers, her whole family stayed inside their home expecting to be saved and for the attack to come to an end. She as well as the other women within the household were to take care of the children and the home. It is only when the fire over her head forces her to escape outside, only to get shot and taken captive. Solitary confinement is the total isolation of inmates who are feared for being a danger to society, the prison system itself for 23 hours a day from days to even decades. Solitary confinement was established in the 1800 s, where it initially started off as an experiment but is now being used as a first resort instead of being used for the worst possible scenarios for many correction facilities in North America to this present day. Prisoners are becoming mentally ill and are extending their time in segregation by participating in self inflicted harm. Another word for the term jail is, correction facility. Solitary confinement is a form of cruel and unusual punishment and should be re evaluated for overseeing the human rights of the inmates being held. Throughout the time of being placed into the solitary confinement unit, many inmates continuously become more and more disturbed. Historically, few trends have been as popular in the United States as fast food. From Burger King to Taco Bell to McDonald s, it seems that numerous fast food restaurants dot every corner; in fact, specific restaurants have now even joined forces, so that a Taco Bell and a Pizza Hut might coexist within one building. Statistically, Americans eat a great deal of fast food, and the industry is extremely profitable. People enjoy this food because it is inexpensive, convenient, and designed to satiate desires for strong flavors, especially tastes for salt and fat. However, this food comes at a higher cost than the low prices on menus would indicate; due to its contributions to the obesity epidemic, the dangers posed to teen workers at restaurants, and the targeting of children and poor communities, fast food poses a significant danger to the citizens of the United States.
