Jam-Packing The Room With Sound Analysis
The beginning of this poem is about how much the speaker likes loud music. For example the
speaker says the speakers throbbing which means the music from the speaker has a strong rhythm.
This is an Aural imagery. Jam packing the room with sound whether Bach or rock and roll means
to crowd to capacity the room with sound. Another phrase is the volume cranked up so each bass
notes is like a hand smacking the gut which means you feel the beat in your guts. Again this is a
aural image. This section obvious tells us how much the speak feels about loud music. The second
stanza is about the speaker. She likes to stepdaughter disagreement. The stepdaughter is four years
old. She likes the music decorous, pitched below her own voice that tenuous

Was Silvio the right choice to head the India operation?
In my opinion, I do not think that was the right choice. Even though India s growth potential was
significant, there are several reasons why I think so. First of all, Exchange rates and unforeseen
duties further frustrated market development efforts. When it comes to international business
those risks always would be cause of challenge. For example Japanese lumber company in Canada
decreased their sales from last year because of change of currency rate of Japanese yen and Canada
dollar. Making the transferred sub assemblies even more expensive was the fact that there were
exchange rate fluctuations favoring Indian currencies. Second, Schindler s manufacturing cost

Meet Silvio Napoli
After having taught this case study for four years and having gone through thorough discussion
and analysis of its points, I decided in preparing for a recent class to cut through all the conjecture
and get right to the source to see what really happened. I called Silvio Napoli. He graciously gave
me fifteen minutes of one of his busy mornings.
We went over the case s more glaring lessons quickly, and then Silvio provided some great
insights into lessons he learned trying to create a subsidiary for Schindler in India. Here are his
take aways:
A swatch strategy of low cost market entry was the wrong choice. In the case study much is said
about how Schindler s CEO was fascinated with the success of low end, mass produced Swatch
watches a 90 s phenomenon more than one General Manager of Manufacturing Operations strove to
emulate this low end production strategy.
Schindler s manufacturing cost structures were compatible with customization, not
commoditization. Silvio said that was one of the biggest challenges he faced as getting transfer
costs for elevators to a price point internally where building elevators made sense. The case study

National Geographic Photographers Review
National Geographic Photographers Review
National Geographic (before the world wide web) brought the world to its readers. The
photographers are able to capture the world in a photo giving the reader greater understanding to
the article itself. The job of National Geographic photographer is revered as the dream job but the
reality is that it s a grueling task to get that perfect photo. Extreme weather, harsh environments and
dangers. Photographers have been injured and even killed just to get that image, that image that
than can be iconic in history. The assignments take them all over the world, during times of war,
places remote and dangerous. The photographers have to work for the shot, scaling trees, being in
the mist of wild and unpredictable animals, hostile people with weapons. One of the photographers
took a picture of an elephant charging towards him, most would run but he didn t and the picture is
epically amazing. He could have been killed getting this shot. One of the ... Show more content on

The work is tedious and challenging and is not an easy path to take. To be a National Geographic
Photographer would take a great deal of patience and a resistance to suffering. Not just the suffering
of harsh conditions that you yourself would endure but the suffering you view around you with
minimal ability to change. To walk into a vault of skeletons and see their humanity as they clung to
each other in an immortal embrace would be a challenge for anyone to photograph due to its
sensitivity in nature and the overwhelming emotion in what s being viewed. National Geographic
Photographers are under different dynamic of obstacles that involve danger and discomfort. Yet

The Importance Of Leadership In Macbeth
William Shakespeare is known world wide as one of the greatest English writers, although many
people still speculate Shakespeare s plays are just books that concedes of entertainment, drama,
horror, or etc. They also objectify that there is nothing to learn from Shakespeare s plays. But that
statement is false. In the play Macbethit teaches the audience that leadership can be challenging.
For my first point, leadership can be challenging because you must be wary of everyone and not
trust anyone, even if they re allies. For my second point, there will always be someone in your
way. For my third and final point, appearances can be deceiving. These are my reasons on why
leadership can be challenging. Within my first point, leadership can be challenging because you
must be wary of everyone and not trust anyone, even if they re allies. Anyone can betray you in
an instant, betrayal is common and adequately betray you on purpose to eradicate you from your
position as a leader. Placing a lot of trust you built with someone could be dangerous, even the
closest friends. Not everyone is an ally, many would take you down to simply gain the ability of
leadership you have. For example, in the play Macbeth, Duncan and the thane of Cawdor. He
was a gentleman on whom I built an absolute trust (1. 2. L. 15 16) Duncan says. As well as
Duncan and Macbeth. Where s the thane of Cawdor? We coursed him at the heels, and had a
purpose to be his purveyor: but he rides well, And his great love,

Congressional Term Limit Analysis
Our American democratic system is effective by its definition being to the degree to which
something is successful in producing a desired result. In the Federalist Papers, Hamilton, Jay, and
Madison, outlined the reasoning behind the system of government set up by our Constitution.
Madison states in Federalist 10 that an extended republic is the key to controlling the effects of
factions. (3). Madison believed, as did many other Founders, that government is created to protect
the diverse interests of the people. This means government should not be controlled by the majority
as every interest counts, even the minority s. This is the system of American democracy, created
through the implementation of a constitutional republic. Through checks... Show more content on

To bring about much needed change in Congress, we must implement congressional term limits.
It was asked, do Americans [really] want lawmakers considering matters of long term political
advancement when addressing critical issues in the present? (4) One who addresses an issue
with the thought of obtaining a committee chairmanship six years from now is not conducive to
addressing the problem now (4). While it may seem beneficial to continue electing congressmen
who have many years of experience, is it really beneficial to the public good when decisions are
based on winning support of a majority of people who are uninformed, irrational, passion driven,
and bias voters? It is the job of a congressman to be informed and make rational decisions on
problems in order to better our country. If they are focused on re election, they may make a
decision, while pleasing to his/her constituents, that may do more harm than good to the public or
may not even solve a problem in the slightest. Congressmen worried about re election are also less
likely to decide on issues that may make a major change in policy, no matter the benefits, as people
generally like the status quo. With limited terms, representatives would view their time in Congress
about making a difference for the public good now, rather than maintaining political power in the

Freud s Theory of Psychosexual Development
Oral to Genital stage, how it affected me as an individual.
Submitted By:
Submitted To:
Freud s theory of psychosexual development is based on erogenous zones which are important
stages of development. According to the theory, there are five stages throughout one s life: Oral
phase, anal phase, phallic phase, latency phase, and genital stage. Each stage is involved in
particular conflicts that must be resolved before moving on to the next stage of development. All
the stages have two things in common: each stage has their own comfort and pleasure source.
Freud believes one s experience during early stages of growth decides their change patterns and ...

I was more of a troublemaker with group of friends with same sex. My peer relationships
increased by hanging out and attending same school club activities. Even though my sexual
urges repressed, I remember that the urges were not completely repressed. From grade 1 to 3, I
had a crush on one particular girl, but I was too shy to express my feelings because it was not
normal for other students at my age it seemed. It seemed that I may have skipped my latency
stage or it was not noticeable. In this stage, I did not stop chewing pencil. It got worse and had to
talk to my parents about it. The conflict of sucking and biting of oral stage was resolved during my
latency phase when I was introduced to chewing gum.
Last stage, genital phase, occurs from puberty to adulthood. In this stage many things happen.
Puberty kicks in, thus change in body for reproduction occurs. Also, increase in hormonal
changes activates the sexual urges which were dormant for years. Sexual attraction and interest
of opposite sex is increased. Desire for independence is still great, but still needs supervision
from their parents. I had my first girlfriend when I was 12, before my puberty. Unfortunately, she
had a car accident and passed away. This event caused my sexual urges to repress greatly because I
was afraid similar things might happen to others. For 4 years, I avoided talking to opposite sex
and the times I had to talk, I felt scared.

A New Client For A Cereal Making Company
A new client for a cereal making company has asked us to help promote their cereal as healthy .
This new cereal is called *name here*, and it is our job to determine the correlation between
calories and potassium in order to make the new cereal healthier by lowering the calories but
increasing potassium. We have researched the interrelationship between calories and potassium
and this paper is a product of our analysis. We have compared data between the top fifteen cereals
and have found that calories and potassium have a negative correlation. However this is only a
coincidence as it is other factors, such as sugar, fiber, protein, and fat that correlate most directly
to calories, while certain ingredients have more potassium than others. Calories and potassium are
both essential parts of the diet that the human body needs in order to survive. A calorie is a unit of
energy that measures how much energy the body gets just by eating or drinking it. It is generally
thought that the higher the calories, the worse it is for the body. It is thought that way because the
extra calories that the body doesn t use is converted to fat, and too much fat is linked to health
problems such as arthritis (joint degeneration), heart disease and diabetes. Potassium is an
electrolyte (meaning it conducts electricity in the body), it is essential for the proper function of
cells, tissues and organs. It is crucial for heart function and the contraction of smooth and skeletal
muscles. Too much

Mating between prairie voles is a tremendous 24 hour effort. After this, they bond for life. They
prefer to spend time with each other, groom each other for hours on end and nest together. They
avoid meeting other potential mates. The male becomes an aggressive guard of the female. And
when their pups are born, they become affectionate and attentive parents. However, another vole, a
close relative called the montane vole, has no interest in partnership beyond one night stand sex.
What is intriguing is that these vast differences in behaviour are the result of a mere handful of
genes. The two vole species are more than 99% alike, genetically.
Why do voles fall in love?
The details of what is going on the vole story, as it were is a fascinating one. When prairie voles
have sex, two hormones called oxytocin and vasopressin are released. If the release of these
hormones is blocked, prairie voles sex becomes a fleeting affair, like that normally enjoyed by
their rakish montane cousins. Conversely, if prairie voles are given an injection of the hormones,
but prevented from having sex, they will still form a preference for their chosen partner. In other
words, researchers can make prairie voles fall in love or whatever the vole equivalent of this is
with an injection.
A clue to what is happening and how these results might bear on the human condition was found
when this magic juice was given to the montane vole: it made no difference. It

her to enter the literary contest of his magazine entitled Opportunity: A Journal of Negro Life. Even

Why Country Music is better than Rap
In the world today, music has become a big influence on everyone. With the power of music,
each person has the ability to accomplish goals even if the music is country or rap. Most people
believe that music can change a person s mood or behavior which is true. Without music people
could not control the way they act. Most music has the power to affect a person s mood and other
music can get them out of control. If music did not exist the world would be tedious. Without
having music, people would not be able to motivate their moods. With the magic of music all
people tend to have clear minds and better spirits. Music has the ability to put a smile on their face
and a special song in their hearts. Even though most people feel confident about a special song, this
can change their mind about how country musicis better than rap music. When listening to country
music, people tend to get excited and be in a better mood. All country songs have the ability to
express a feelingof what the song is about. With the power of rap music people cannot express
the way they feel. Country music can allow each individual to achieve more goals in life. If
someone is having a bad day or just feeling down and out they can listen to country music and it
can change their mood right then and there. Most people that listen to rap probably feel about the
same as they did before. This is because the rap music cannot control feelings like country music
can do. People pretty much can listen to

Once the pencil cores are extruded out of the packing cylinders they are passed through a dye
which allows the lead to take on the shape of a pencil lead. The pencil cores are left to dry in
1800 degree furnaces to ensure all traces of water are out of the lead. While the furnace stiffens
the lead, the wood working area fabricates the pencil shell. First a saw cuts eight grooves in a

A single thread cannot become a cord, and a single tree does not make a forest. This Cheng Yu is
about cooperation and being part of a larger whole. Its roots stem from Confucian beliefs of
organized society through togetherness. This is in stark contrast to the emphasis placed on
individualism in some Western countries.
Introducton
Tearroir is a global tea brand that sources premium loose leaf tea from 7 countries. The need to
overcome cross cultural difference in communication is a major issue in achieving affective
knowledge transfer and performance in today s globalised world (Holden, Von Kortzfleisch, 2004,
pp127). Knowledge evolves as both organisations and individuals adapt to internal/external
environments, it is one of the most important assets for any organisation (Rivera Vazquez, Ortiz
Fournier, Flores, 2009, pp257). Cross cultural differences are never more of a barrier to successful
communication inl business than in the case of verbal and non verbal communication (McShane,
Olekalns, Travaglione, 2010, pp367). Tearroir s mission statement is the best teas on Earth for this
to be realised we need to be effective communicators with people from varied cultural backgrounds.
Cross cultural communication issues often occur because people react to situations based on
beliefs, values and expectations of their own culture, the examples of face and guan xi will be

Arthur And Arthur Without Arthur
He had never returned after Arthur died. The king was dead and gone, so how could he possibly
unite Albion in that state?
Merlin doesn t quite remember what happened in the first few weeks. He has vague recollections
of himself screaming at the lake, at the forest, giving in to his grief and anger with destruction. He
d come to his senses, eventually, when he d nearly killed a passing farm girl by felling a tree in her
path.
Then, disgusted with himself, he d decided it d be safer for everyone if he just stayed away from
anyone.
He hadn t planned on coming back. A month ago, he was still dead set on that plan. But then he d
realized something.
Yes, Arthur might be gone, but Camelotwas not. It wasn t fair of him to just give up on everything
he and Arthur had built. Arthur would have wanted his kingdom to thrive after his death, and
Merlin... Merlin should have wanted the same thing.
Which he did, but he d wanted his best friend alive and well even more so.
And besides, a Camelot without Arthur hadn t seemed right. It probably never would, to Merlin.
It would probably never seem right to Guinevere, either, but she was a wise and compassionate
ruler. She had made strong allies of the other kingdoms, and peace reigned in the land. She had
even declared magic legal, and Merlin was sure there must be a sorcerer or two amongst her council.
She had proven herself stronger than Merlin. She had not given up on the kingdom; she had not run

Coco Chanel Revolutionised Fashion
Have you ever taken a step back and looked
How Coco Chanel Revolutionised Fashion
By Sienna Hollis at how fashion has revolutionised over the years? Well, this article is taking a
step back in time all the way to the early 1900 s to look at the way that Coco Chanel changed
fashion. Coco Chanel was all about empowering women through her designs by throwing
stereotypes of how women should dress out of the window. She introduced many trends that we
still see within todays society with many of her original products still on sale even after her death
in 1971.
One of her original designs in the early 1920 s was the little black dress. The dress was an update
for the modern women, known for both its striking silhouette and dark tone. Since the Victorian
times the dark tone was commonly associated mourning. However this was soon changed after,
with Coco being the one of the causes that made black a colour which could be worn everyday,
for Coco black was simple elegance. Rival couturier Paul Poiret reportedly scoffed at Chanel in the
street, mockingly asking her, What are you in mourning for, Mademoiselle? The quick witted
designer responded, For you, dear Monsieur. TouchГ©!
One of the ways that she broke the female stereotype was breaking the social rule that trousers
were only for men. When WWI broke out in 1914, many women who took worked in manual roles
began to wear trousers in the workplace. Coco Chanel loved wearing trousers herself, often
borrowing her boyfriend s suits,

Essay Immigration and Language in Call it Sleep
Immigration and Language in Call it sleep Immigrant Allegory: Language and the Symbolism of
Being Lost The symbolism of being lost is a universal immigrant theme that occurs throughout
many immigrant literatures, particularly in Henry Roth s Call it Sleep. Language, or lack of
understanding it, has a profound contribution to the process of being lost. This contribution is
shown earlier in the book, in a passage where David is lost trying to find his way home (Passage
1) and is mirrored later on in the book, when David and Aunt Bertha are lost in a museum (Passage
2). The restriction of the usage of language in both passages portrays to us the inevitable and
ubiquitous immigrant dilemma: I talk, eat, and live like this new country... Show more content on

David panics in this scene as well as the scene in Passage 2. If we reread Passage 2 carefully, we
see that it is really David that is mainly concerned with being lost again, not Aunt Bertha. Aunt
Bertha appears to us to have diverged her attention from the couple to the exhibits at the
museum, whereas David s attention is always on the two people that he is following, not once at
the exhibits in the museum. It is David that tugs on Aunt Bertha s dress to warn her that their
subjects might be walking too fast for them to follow anymore. Perhaps this panic is due to
David s effort to get directions to his destination. In Passage 1, David asks the gentleman for
directions to Bodder Street. In Passage 2, David asks the man in front of the museum whether
or not this is actually the museum. David is never seen in these two passages as a bold, spirited
leader; he is always seen as a follower. This has significant implications; David can never lead in
this country, he can only follow. He does not posses the free spirited, Columbus conquering
mentality. David is very passive and out of place in both of these passages. He follows people s
advice in Passage 1 and in Passage 2, never his own intuition. David represents the immigrant who
will forever be lost in his new country. What is ironic is that David s inquiries about getting the
right directions fails in both cases because of his inability to manipulate language in such a way

Dim, did not share the same appreciation for classical music. In the middle of her performance
Dim shouts something disrespectful and Alex hits him so swiftly as if it was like a reflex. This
upset Dim and made the rest of the gang uncomfortable. They tried to make Alex see the
situation and all its unfairness by trying to put him in their shoes. Alex, however doesn t see the
problem since he feels that he is the sole leader of this gang so he sees it fit that he disciplines

Multicultural Disparities In Healthcare
Problem Multicultural disparities serve as a gap within the health care system. However, all
remarkable leaders and or administrator share commonalities to try and bring about a resolution for
multicultural disparities. In fact, an integral part of multicultural disparities stems from attitudes, no
access to resources, health behaviors, and organization not validating a change is needed. More
importantly, health disparities, continue to plague the population. Multicultural Health Care: A
Quality Improvement Guide. (2006, p. 3) states health care disparity is a difference in treatment
provided to members of different racial or ethnic groups that are not justified by the underlying
health condition or treatment preferences of patients. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A resolution to decrease multicultural health care disparities is a challenge, but it starts at the
government level. The government must acknowledge that multiple problems exist. Consequently,
a budget must be implemented to begin to incorporate a resolution for multicultural disparities. The
provisions of the health care reform may start the process to better care. Nevertheless, bridging the
gap in multicultural health care disparities also requires thorough training, education, and teamwork
of all individuals that are involved in the healthcare system. Therefore, there are several ways to
start bridging the gap. For example, developing an awareness of cultural values, learning worldview
s, eliminating biases, and acquiring interpersonal skills (Multicultural Competence Engaging in
Difficult Dialogues that are Inherent in Teaching about Diversity, 2015). Also, leaders that are
involved in health care disparities have not addressed the battle of working within a broken health
care system. Multicultural inequality started due to disproportionately underrepresented ethnic
minorities, which are uninsured or

Reflective Practice
As pointed out before, RP is a trending topic nowadays but also confusing. The ambiguity and the
overlapping use of terms complicate the understanding (hebert, tsingos 2014). Boud 1985 p.8
points out that it is not a single facet term but a generic/umbrella one that involves a range of ideas
and activities. In order to apply the concept correctly to dental education, I will present different
definitions of related terms such as reflection, critical reflection and reflexivity. Reflective Practice
There is some consensus about the RP definition and it is generally understood as the process of
learning through and from experience towards gaining new insights of self and/or practice {Finlay,
2008 p.1}. It involves the examination of daily practical assumptions, the self awareness of the
practitioner and the critical evaluation of the own action. RP breaks the assumption that reflection

This definition links feelings and cognition. It also presumes an intentional activity, or purpose
learning (Moon, Amulya date) which is in line with many definitions of reflection (Dewey, Moon).
However, reflection could be only thinking about something, and not necessary in a deeply,
carefully or purposefully way. Therefore, there is an argument for having different levels of
reflection (see van manen, hebert, mezirow), All of these suggests that critical reflection is the
highest or the most important level, and it is this that I consider next. Critical Reflection Mezirow
(1990) contemplated reflective practice and identified that there was more to reflection than simply
thinking about experiences, suggesting that critical reflection involves a critique on the
assumptions on which our beliefs and values have developed (hickson p.

Surrealism Of The Temptation Of Saint Anthony Essay
During the period between World War I and World War II, many people decided that rationale had
created the destruction left behind from the war and that it was time to rely on the subconscious
as a way to analyze the world. These people became known as Surrealists. One of the most famous
surrealist artists was Salvador DalГ. DalГ s piece The Temptation of SaintAnthonyis a prime
example of Surrealism.
Surrealist paintings are described as dreamlike and fantastical. Much of DalГ s paintings were
images he had dreamed up. He said that he would paint what almost seem like photographs from
his dreams. DalГ took Sigmund Freud s idea that dreams are symbolic. Objects can symbolize

The last elephant carries another tower that symbolizes a phallic figure. It is said that the long legs
of horse and elephants symbolize levitation and nearness to heaven. However, the thinness of the
legs could also symbolize weak legs holding up the elephants and horse, weakly holding up the
resistance to temptation. The woman on the Cup of Desire and inside the temple are said to be

DalГ s surrealist The Temptation of Saint Anthony combines ideas and images that are not possible
in the physical world. Looking at the painting, the objects would make no sense. However, if
interpreted like people often interpret dreams, The Temptation of Saint Anthony shows the story of
the devil luring Saint Anthony. Because these images are only possible in the subconscious, they
are considered surrealist.

The United States Health Care System Essay
The United States health care system is lacking the needs to create a reliable system to achieve
quality, access, cost, and educate for the consumers. Despite the efforts of the government to find
a common ground to meet the standard for the societies, the system has yet to have a major
improvement. These issues must be reexamined to fix the broken system. The United States
health care expenditure is another issue that needs to be addressed to achieve the future goals of
the healthcare system in the United States. Healthcare societies will need to interact differently
by incorporating consumer s empowerment, technology, and education to meet the future goals
of the health care system. Also, the consumer must be highly educated on the purpose of
preventive care to lower the risk of chronic diseases which account for a lot health care spending.
The process of correcting the United States health care system will take time and effort from all
individual to achieve greatness. What is the perfect health care system and how to achieve that
system? Unfortunately, we will never achieve what is considered the perfect health care system
because we don t proceed perfection as the same. Some may believe that a blue sky with a hint of
sunlight is the perfect opportunity to embrace the use of Vitamin D, and others may believe it is
too hot to be out. So, again the healthcare system will never be perfect, but we can try to
incorporate all Americans with the decision making process.

The Importance Of Hair Designs In Ancient Egypt
The ancient Egyptians were one of the first world civilizations to exist on our planet being the
first to set parameters. I often wonder if they knew they were the first. When they were creating
things such as the toothbrush and the calendar did they feel like they were inventing for all of
humanity? Or, were they just creating things based on their needs in the present moment not
realizing the impact it would have on the Africa and beyond? After my research, I found out that
they were the original creators of one of my deepest passions the art of barbers. The ancient
Egyptians believed that being clean shaven was a sign of good hygiene and class. This belief
inspired them to create sharp stones that would trim their hair; by advancing this technology they
were able to carve out the first barbershop industry in world civilization. The deep desire of
intricate hair designs or braids, short hair or shaven heads, or the desire for hair wigs organically
led to the need of tools that could revision their hair. In research done by W. Flinders Petries
describes the relationship of hair design in ancient Egyptby stating, There were periods when the
head was clean shaven, others when it was left to grow, cropped short or worn shoulder long or
even longer by both men and women. Egyptians invention of the first barbertools begin 6,000 years

From multiple points of view, the history of spices industry is in the history of humans and
global commerce. The use of spices in food, cosmetics, and embalming can be traced back to
ancient Egyptians around 3000 B.C. In the course of time, Spices demand increased and trade
were spread out from Africa and Asia to the Middle East, Mediterranean and Europe. The influence
of spicetrade was able to determine the rise and fall of nations based on each country s trading
position. In March 1602, the World s first publicly traded company best known as United East

addition, they are also used to serve as a record of different events. Furthermore Thangka painting

American Airlines Executive Summary
Executive Summary/Abstract American Airlines is looking to expand its market to more wealthy
consumers by offering an excusive line of aircraft consisting mostly of first class and business
type seating. This new model will be labeled under the title Elite and would market routes to and
from major city hubs during heavy business traveling hours. American Airlines will position this
service as the, Black Jet since that would be the standout feature of the aircraft. American can take
advantage of its existing market base along with its frequent fliers to sell the experience of a flight
experience beyond maximizing passengers. The target motto would be a flight redefined. American
Airlines Elite would target business, first class, and frequent flying travelers. The Primary marketing
objective is to achieve a 4 7% increase in fares per route flown by the increase of ticketing prices
even with fewer seats on the aircraft. Status matching will be offered to competing airlinefrequent
flyers to encourage them to travel more with American than their current choose airline. Airlines
represents a $783 billion a year industry (Fact Sheet: Industry Statistics, 2014). Being able to
expand the market to the high end segment would create an attraction to a unique service not
offered by other major US airlines. Break even cost would be the first year goal while there would
be an increase in cost to retrofit aircraft.

Colonial Literature Summary
Colonial Literature began with the work of English adventurers and colonists in the New World
benefit the readers in the country. Some of these early works reached the level of literature, as in
the truthful account of his adventures by Captain John Smith and the journalistic histories of John
Winthrop and William Bradford in New England. From the beginning, however, the literature of
New England was also directed to the improvement and instruction of the colonists themselves,
intended to direct them in the ways of the gods. The first literature work was published in the
Puritan colonies, was the Bay Psalm Book, and the whole effort of the divines wrote furiously to
set forth their view. Among them was Roger Williams and Thomas Hooker; who was to defend

Intracartilaginous Bone Formation Case Study
1.The main difference between intramembranous and intracartilaginous bone formation are the
primary structure from which ossification initiates and the method of bone growth.
Intramembranous bone formation commences with the development of a membrane in the area of
the bone to be formed. The embryonic mesenchymal cells that make up the membrane develop
osteogenic cells and then osteoblasts to allow layers of bonetissue to form in the shape of the
membrane. The flat bones covering the brain and some facial bones maintain a constant thickness
level to allow for brain growth. As they enlarge, new bone tissue is built and removed to the internal
and external surfaces and along the margins. Intracartilaginous bone formation develops... Show

Bone growth in length is directed by the primary ossification center located in the diaphysis and
the secondary ossification center in the epiphysis of the bone. The juncture at which these two
ossification centers meet is called a growth plate. As the name suggests, this is the primary area
of lengthening of the bone. Cartilage cells are added to the growth plate in the Zone of
Proliferation. These cartilage cells enlarge and are compressed to form the longitudinal
trabeculae matrix in the Zone of Hypertrophy. The enlarged cells begin to degenerate, and the
trabeculae calcify in the Zone of Calcified Cartilage. Osteoblasts secrete uncalcified bone matrix
over the calcified cartilage along with blood vessels and connective tissues growing into the area
from the primary ossification center. Finally, in the Zone of Cartilage Removal and Bone
Deposition, the calcified cartilage is reabsorbed leaving behind the spongy bone. Where
osteoblasts and osteoclasts actively remodel the spongy bone tissue to allow for growth and to
adapt to stress placed on the bone. The same procedure occurs in the secondary ossification center
located in the epiphysis of the bone. Therefore the bone is allowed to grow in length from the
center and at the

are the rationales to support the need of this environmental surveillance? (2 A) The main
objective of the environmental surveillance of poliovirus (ES) is to complement and/ or

of the cornerstones of global polio eradication efforts being spearheaded by the Global polio

Public And Private Financial Incentives
Summary: Public and private financial incentives are aligned as never before to encourage
physicians to adopt electronic health records. To aid in the transition, the government has also put
billions into training health information technology workers and establishing regional extension
centers to provide technical and other advice. Even so, progress is slow and obstacles remain.
Chief among those obstacles may be the investment of time required to transition to an electronic
system. By Brian Schilling In 2009 as part of the Health Information Technology for Economic and
Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, the federal government set aside $27 billion for an incentive

The Rewards of EHR Adoption For physicians willing to adopt EHRs, the financial incentives
offered by the federal government are substantial. The average physician with at least 30 percent
of his or her patients covered by Medicare is eligible for up to $44,000 in total incentives. A
physician with at least 30 percent of his or her patients covered by Medicaid is eligible for even
more, up to $63,750. To earn any of that money though, physicians must do more than simply
purchase an EHR system; they are required to show that they have achieved meaningful use of
that system in terms of improving quality. At a minimum, that will mean having systems capable
of e prescribing, reporting quality data, and exchanging data among providers. As of May 19th,
320 health care providers (including 283 physicians and 37 hospitals) have received a total of
$75 million in Medicare incentive payments for demonstrating meaningful use of electronic health
records. The relatively slow start was perhaps to be expected to qualify for this first round of
incentives, practices were required to not only meet certain EHR requirements, but also sign up for
the payments within the first two weeks they were available. Many practices simply weren t that
far in the process. More telling for the future of HIT may be the number of physicians and hospitals
that have registered

The Importance Of The Rule Of Law In Democracy
The rule of law means that the government nor the people are above the law. It also states that the
government and its officials cannot force laws that are unjust or unfair. With this idea being
enforced in the United States, no one is deemed inferior or more important than anyone else.
Therefore, everyone is subjected to punishment that best fits their crime no matter their rank or
status in society. With this unique idea, it is certain that everyone will get the justice that they
deserve. To further show the exclusiveness of the rule of law, the United State s system of
government, which is a democracy, is going to be compared to militarism and absolute monarchy.
The rule of law in a democracy is essential. Without the rule of law to keep the government s
power in check, democracy could not exist. Democracy means ruled by the people, and the rule of
law helps give that power to its citizens by restricting political power since the rule of law states that
the government nor the people are above the law. In militarism, the military is the center of the
government. This usually results in high government spending and aggression with neighbors
(Study.com). North Korea would be an example of the use of militarism in a government. In North
Korea, they have a songun policy, which means Military First. This policy results in having the
military being the top priority in the country. As a result, North Korea has the largest military in the

Fox Hall also has the largest dining hall on campus. The dining hall is on the second floor of the

alternative, and rock are all individual types of music. Different artists display diverse emotions
through their music. Country and rap are two totally opposite types of music. Country is mellow
and romantic, while rap is fast paced and sometimes very inappropriate. As a child, many want to
listen to upbeat, cheerful music. As a teen or young adult, we listen to multiple genres, exploring
our interests. The difference between my music that I listened to in in my younger years compared
to now is not distinctive. When I was younger I listened to many different types of music. My sister
listened to the newest pop songs at the time. My brother listened

Essay on Six Social Classes in the United States Today
During my research, I have found that depending on where you look there are a variety of Social
Classes in the United States. The most obvious and probably the best known are the six social
classes primarily used in the United States today. Below, I have compiled some facts that help
describe and support each class.
Upper Class
The upper class makes up about one percent of the U.S. population, generally consists of those who
have inherited wealth from their families, this is also known as old money.
New Money
The new money class is relatively new on the social class ladder and makes up about fifteen percent
of the U.S. population. New money includes people whose wealth has only been around for a
generation or two.
Middle Class
The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poverty Level
The poverty level class lacks the means to meet their basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter.
The poverty level is currently about $18,000 per year.
These classes have become even more apparent in today s tough economy. There are many
families and individuals that were once in a higher class, which have been forced to a lower
class due the declining economy. This is known or felt by Americans watching today s struggling
economy. Due to the economy failing, it has caused most industries to cut back on production and
has caused a decline in the working force. In turn, this has caused a ripple effect to almost every
business across America. A simple analogy to help support this would be; the auto industry is not
producing the amount of vehicles that they have in the past. This, in turn means that they don t
need the volume of tires that they have. Now, this causes problems for the tire maker. If the tire
maker, doesn t have a demand then they don t need as many employees and causes the tire maker
to make drastic cuts to its personnel. And the ripple effect continues on down the line causing
further layoffs; not only for the tire maker, but also for their suppliers.
The moral of this is; once employees start getting laid off and the demand doesn t rise, a
corporation will eventually have no choice but to thin out some of its top executives. Most top
executives are more than likely in the upper

The Digital World Is Affecting Today s Youth
Sandra Boyd analyzes how nearly ubiquitous access to the digital world is affecting today s youth
in It s Complicated. She explains how the app generation is struggling to self identify and
successfully leverage the Internet to be app enabled. Youth s app dependency is a result of access
to digital technology and social media at an early age, and is preventing youth from properly self
identifying themselves. This, in turn, is affecting how they build relationships and how they think
creatively. The online community our group has decided to look into is the PCMasterRace
subreddit. This subreddit is a community of PC gamers sharing information about computer
hardware, postcreative and visually appealing computer configurations (called builds or rigs ) and
post satirical or funny pictures about trending topics. Reddit provides a platform for people with
unique special interests (i.e. PC s) to communicate and collaborate; it is a place where relationships
have the opportunity to be built and where creative ideas can be expressed openly.
Recently, a major topic of this subreddit has been to help console peasants ascend to the ranks of
the PC Master Race. Console peasants often deny that PCs outrank consoles in terms of
performance and ability when gaming and respond to PCMasterRace commentary by posting
nonsense, making claims that playing at suboptimal graphics settings on their consoles make for a
better atmosphere and an overall superior gaming experience.

Descriptive Essay Volcano
Allie Koza
Professor Baer
English
17 October 2017 Descriptive Essay The word volcano comes from the little island of vulcano in
the Mediterranean Sea, these fire fountains can reach hundreds of feet into the sky (Lindop). Early
Romans believed this mountain belonged to vulcan, the blacksmith of the gods. Within the last
twenty years, a volcanologists have been working hard to learn how to predict eruptions and keep
people safe. Ash plumes and steam rose into the bright blue sky as the underground earthquake
shook the land and rattled windows all across the eighteen mile town. As the jet circled the island,
in view of lovely beaches and emerald water, looming over this lush paradise was the screaming
volcano. Volcanos erupt when the pressure inside of them becomes so great that the magma
surges up and forces its way out. An exploding volcano can rip apart a mountain in just seconds,
when the eruption is over, a landscape is changed forever. The united states is home to more
volcanos than any other country except Indonesia, and Japan. The majority of these volcanoes
are in Alaska. Until recently, there was no way to predict when a volcano would blow, although
volcanoes give off many warning signs before they erupt. Including smaller earthquakes beneath
the volcano, slight inflation, or swelling. The rising magma eventually causes the solid rock to
break, sending earthquake signals. Most volcanoes give warning signs beginning weeks or
months before they blow (Lindop). Lumps of Lava cool into solid rocks as they fly through the
sky, forming rounded chunks that can be also known as bombs, while pieces with corners and
sharp edges are named blocks. Both bombs and blocks can cause a great deal of damage. As the
volcano begins to burst, the sky fills with choking, smoky powder, while it starts raining lava,
and rock. The air warmed quicker than when you pour kerosene on a fire, with a sound so loud it
circled the earth four times, red hot lava flows down the side of the volcano and magma spews
out the top. The only taste in my mouth is the smoke coming from the lava, as the gas in the air
turned all my silver jewelry black. I feel very frightened knowing this is such a normal thing to
happen in different

Titanic Film Analysis
Inside the setting of film industry, the film Titanic by James Cameron has a place with epic
sentiment/disaster sort. The movie, released in 1997, was a worldwide film industry hit because of
the fact that the director gave measure up to significance to history, fiction and sentiment. To be
particular, one can see that the film s plot depends on the historical background of RMS Titanic. On
the opposite side, the primary characters including the protagonist and the woman of courage (Jack
Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater) are fictive characters. Plus, the component of romance between
the primary characters (Jack and Rose) is the movie s fundamental attraction. The film uncovers the
critical and ramantic story of two young people, Jack Dawson and Rose Bukater who while on
Titanicship from the shoreline of England to the United States, began to fall in love at first sight
regardless of their diverse social classes.
Jack Dawson was a youthful talented craftsman from a poor foundation, and Rose, a young lady
wedded to a wealthy yet savage more man who she doesn t love, experience a short emotional love
life. The film picture uncovers the idea of connections that exist in the general public, and whose
significance connected in the mid 20th century ,as well as which still sounds good right up till the
present time. A teenage young lady from a well off family can, today, get wedded to a poor kid
from a modest foundation as long as the two are attracted to each other.
The movie s

Essay on Compare and contrast †Disgrace’ with Jude the...
J.M Coetzee s Disgrace literates Lurie s attempt and failure of the seduction of a school girl,
Melanie. This is a campus novel about the first flirtation between a university lecturer and a student.
The aptly named novel suggests the possible overall outcome of having a relationship with a
student.
Disgrace is written from a third person in favour of the protagonist, David Lurie s point of view.
Lurie is someone who has achieved what he wanted to in life, academically but perhaps not
romantically? Whereas, Melonie Issacs, his student has yet to fully experience university life to it s
full and to achieve her academic goals. This novel is written in present tense which gives a sense of
ominicity. (I really want this to be a word, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly to Disgrace , Jude is a novel about a first flirtation. Jude is a young scholar, (like
Melonie) who is determined to do well in his studies who has been disturbed from his ambitions
by the country girls. These women s crude sexuality is threatening Jude s scholarship and
ambitions. Arabella is very similar to the character of Moire in Brian Friel s Translations as they
are both animalistic down to earth women. In contrast to Disgrace , Jude has an omniscient
narrator, giving us in site into all of the characters lives. This guides the reader to feel sympathetic
towards Jude as the women are preying on him, also contrasting to Disgrace as in that extract, the
male is the perpetrator and the woman is prey. Jude doubts Arabella, but is however, curious of her.
She holds him back from his ambition and deviates him from the straight and narrow , his
relationship with Arabella progresses beyond this extract, but undoubtedly ends in heartbreak and
unhappiness. This is also illuistrated by the initial throwing of the penis, the complete disreguard of
the male sexual organ which has been thrown in his face causing a mockery.
Lurie in Disgrace uses poetic language forms and phrases with his attempt to lure Melanie into his
seduction; he is fixated on her physical attributes stating that a woman s beauty does not belong to
her alone . This could be considered as an attempt to

Even though India s growth potential was significant, there are several reasons why I think so. First of all, Exchange rates and unforeseen duties further frustrated market development efforts. When it comes to international business those risks always would be cause of challenge. For example Japanese lumber company in Canada decreased their sales from last year because of change of currency rate of Japanese yen and Canada dollar. Making the transferred sub assemblies even more expensive was the fact that there were exchange rate fluctuations favoring Indian currencies. • 6. The Importance Of Leadership In Macbeth William Shakespeare is known world wide as one of the greatest English writers, although many people still speculate Shakespeare s plays are just books that concedes of entertainment, drama, horror, or etc. They also objectify that there is nothing to learn from Shakespeare s plays. But that statement is false. In the play Macbethit teaches the audience that leadership can be challenging. For my first point, leadership can be challenging because you must be wary of everyone and not trust anyone, even if they re allies. For my second point, there will always be someone in your way. For my third and final point, appearances can be deceiving. These are my reasons on why leadership can be challenging. Within my first point, leadership can be challenging because you must be wary of everyone and not trust anyone, even if they re allies. Anyone can betray you in an instant, betrayal is common and adequately betray you on purpose to eradicate you from your position as a leader. Placing a lot of trust you built with someone could be dangerous, even the closest friends. Not everyone is an ally, many would take you down to simply gain the ability of leadership you have. Madison states in Federalist 10 that an extended republic is the key to controlling the effects of factions. (3). Madison believed, as did many other Founders, that government is created to protect the diverse interests of the people. To bring about much needed change in Congress, we must implement congressional term limits. It was asked, do Americans [really] want lawmakers considering matters of long term political advancement when addressing critical issues in the present? (4) One who addresses an issue with the thought of obtaining a committee chairmanship six years from now is not conducive to addressing the problem now (4). While it may seem beneficial to continue electing congressmen who have many years of experience, is it really beneficial to the public good when decisions are based on winning support of a majority of people who are uninformed, irrational, passion driven, and bias voters? It is the job of a congressman to be informed and make rational decisions on problems in order to better our country. If they are focused on re election, they may make a decision, while pleasing to his/her constituents, that may do more harm than good to the public or may not even solve a problem in the slightest. Congressmen worried about re election are also less likely to decide on issues that may make a major change in policy, no matter the benefits, as people generally like the status quo. With limited terms, representatives would view their time in Congress about making a difference for the public good now, rather than maintaining political power in the ... We have researched the interrelationship between calories and potassium and this paper is a product of our analysis. We have compared data between the top fifteen cereals and have found that calories and potassium have a negative correlation. However this is only a coincidence as it is other factors, such as sugar, fiber, protein, and fat that correlate most directly to calories, while certain ingredients have more potassium than others. Calories and potassium are both essential parts of the diet that the human body needs in order to survive. A calorie is a unit of energy that measures how much energy the body gets just by eating or drinking it. It is generally thought that the higher the calories, the worse it is for the body. It is thought that way because the extra calories that the body doesn t use is converted to fat, and too much fat is linked to health problems such as arthritis (joint degeneration), heart disease and diabetes. Potassium is an electrolyte (meaning it conducts electricity in the body), it is essential for the proper function of cells, tissues and organs. However, another vole, a close relative called the montane vole, has no interest in partnership beyond one night stand sex. What is intriguing is that these vast differences in behaviour are the result of a mere handful of genes. The two vole species are more than 99% alike, genetically. Why do voles fall in love? The details of what is going on the vole story, as it were is a fascinating one. When prairie voles have sex, two hormones called oxytocin and vasopressin are released. If the release of these hormones is blocked, prairie voles sex becomes a fleeting affair, like that normally enjoyed by their rakish montane cousins. Conversely, if prairie voles are given an injection of the hormones, but prevented from having sex, they will still form a preference for their chosen partner. With the power of rap music people cannot express the way they feel. Country music can allow each individual to achieve more goals in life. Well, this article is taking a step back in time all the way to the early 1900 s to look at the way that Coco Chanel changed fashion. Coco Chanel was all about empowering women through her designs by throwing stereotypes of how women should dress out of the window. She introduced many trends that we still see within todays society with many of her original products still on sale even after her death in 1971. One of her original designs in the early 1920 s was the little black dress. The dress was an update for the modern women, known for both its striking silhouette and dark tone. Since the Victorian times the dark tone was commonly associated mourning. However this was soon changed after, with Coco being the one of the causes that made black a colour which could be worn everyday, for Coco black was simple elegance. Rival couturier Paul Poiret reportedly scoffed at Chanel in the street, mockingly asking her, What are you in mourning for, Mademoiselle? The quick witted designer responded, For you, dear Monsieur. TouchГ©! One of the ways that she broke the female stereotype was breaking the social rule that trousers were only for men. Essay Immigration and Language in Call it Sleep Immigration and Language in Call it sleep Immigrant Allegory: Language and the Symbolism of Being Lost The symbolism of being lost is a universal immigrant theme that occurs throughout many immigrant literatures, particularly in Henry Roth s Call it Sleep. Language, or lack of understanding it, has a profound contribution to the process of being lost. This contribution is shown earlier in the book, in a passage where David is lost trying to find his way home (Passage 1) and is mirrored later on in the book, when David and Aunt Bertha are lost in a museum (Passage 2). The restriction of the usage of language in both passages portrays to us the inevitable and ubiquitous immigrant dilemma: I talk, eat, and live like this new country... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... David panics in this scene as well as the scene in Passage 2. If we reread Passage 2 carefully, we see that it is really David that is mainly concerned with being lost again, not Aunt Bertha. Aunt Bertha appears to us to have diverged her attention from the couple to the exhibits at the museum, whereas David s attention is always on the two people that he is following, not once at the exhibits in the museum. It is David that tugs on Aunt Bertha s dress to warn her that their subjects might be walking too fast for them to follow anymore. Perhaps this panic is due to David s effort to get directions to his destination. In Passage 1, David asks the gentleman for directions to Bodder Street. In Passage 2, David asks the man in front of the museum whether or not this is actually the museum. David is never seen in these two passages as a bold, spirited leader; he is always seen as a follower. This has significant implications; David can never lead in this country, he can only follow. He does not posses the free spirited, Columbus conquering mentality. David is very passive and out of place in both of these passages. He follows people s advice in Passage 1 and in Passage 2, never his own intuition. David represents the immigrant who will forever be lost in his new country. What is ironic is that David s inquiries about getting the right directions fails in both cases because of his inability to manipulate language in such a way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The government must acknowledge that multiple problems exist. Consequently, a budget must be implemented to begin to incorporate a resolution for multicultural disparities. The provisions of the health care reform may start the process to better care. Nevertheless, bridging the gap in multicultural health care disparities also requires thorough training, education, and teamwork of all individuals that are involved in the healthcare system. Therefore, there are several ways to start bridging the gap. For example, developing an awareness of cultural values, learning worldview s, eliminating biases, and acquiring interpersonal skills (Multicultural Competence Engaging in Difficult Dialogues that are Inherent in Teaching about Diversity, 2015). The ambiguity and the overlapping use of terms complicate the understanding (hebert, tsingos 2014). In order to apply the concept correctly to dental education, I will present different definitions of related terms such as reflection, critical reflection and reflexivity. Reflective Practice There is some consensus about the RP definition and it is generally understood as the process of learning through and from experience towards gaining new insights of self and/or practice {Finlay, 2008 p.1}. Therefore, there is an argument for having different levels of reflection (see van manen, hebert, mezirow), All of these suggests that critical reflection is the highest or the most important level, and it is this that I consider next. Critical Reflection Mezirow (1990) contemplated reflective practice and identified that there was more to reflection than simply thinking about experiences, suggesting that critical reflection involves a critique on the assumptions on which our beliefs and values have developed (hickson p. ... Despite the efforts of the government to find a common ground to meet the standard for the societies, the system has yet to have a major improvement. These issues must be reexamined to fix the broken system. The United States health care expenditure is another issue that needs to be addressed to achieve the future goals of the healthcare system in the United States. I often wonder if they knew they were the first. When they were creating things such as the toothbrush and the calendar did they feel like they were inventing for all of humanity? Or, were they just creating things based on their needs in the present moment not realizing the impact it would have on the Africa and beyond? After my research, I found out that they were the original creators of one of my deepest passions the art of barbers. The ancient Egyptians believed that being clean shaven was a sign of good hygiene and class. This belief inspired them to create sharp stones that would trim their hair; by advancing this technology they were able to carve out the first barbershop industry in world civilization. The deep desire of intricate hair designs or braids, short hair or shaven heads, or the desire for hair wigs organically led to the need of tools that could revision their hair. In research done by W. Intramembranous bone formation commences with the development of a membrane in the area of the bone to be formed. The embryonic mesenchymal cells that make up the membrane develop osteogenic cells and then osteoblasts to allow layers of bonetissue to form in the shape of the membrane. The flat bones covering the brain and some facial bones maintain a constant thickness level to allow for brain growth. Bone growth in length is directed by the primary ossification center located in the diaphysis and the secondary ossification center in the epiphysis of the bone. The juncture at which these two ossification centers meet is called a growth plate. As the name suggests, this is the primary area of lengthening of the bone. Cartilage cells are added to the growth plate in the Zone of Proliferation. These cartilage cells enlarge and are compressed to form the longitudinal trabeculae matrix in the Zone of Hypertrophy. The enlarged cells begin to degenerate, and the trabeculae calcify in the Zone of Calcified Cartilage. Osteoblasts secrete uncalcified bone matrix over the calcified cartilage along with blood vessels and connective tissues growing into the area from the primary ossification center. With this idea being enforced in the United States, no one is deemed inferior or more important than anyone else. Therefore, everyone is subjected to punishment that best fits their crime no matter their rank or status in society. With this unique idea, it is certain that everyone will get the justice that they deserve. To further show the exclusiveness of the rule of law, the United State s system of government, which is a democracy, is going to be compared to militarism and absolute monarchy. The rule of law in a democracy is essential. Without the rule of law to keep the government s power in check, democracy could not exist. Democracy means ruled by the people, and the rule of law helps give that power to its citizens by restricting political power since the rule of law states that the government nor the people are above the law. In turn, this has caused a ripple effect to almost every business across America. A simple analogy to help support this would be; the auto industry is not producing the amount of vehicles that they have in the past. This, in turn means that they don t need the volume of tires that they have. Now, this causes problems for the tire maker. If the tire maker, doesn t have a demand then they don t need as many employees and causes the tire maker to make drastic cuts to its personnel. And the ripple effect continues on down the line causing further layoffs; not only for the tire maker, but also for their suppliers. The moral of this is; once employees start getting laid off and the demand doesn t rise, a corporation will eventually have no choice but to thin out some of its top executives. Most top executives are more than likely in the upper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Descriptive Essay Volcano Allie Koza Professor Baer English 17 October 2017 Descriptive Essay The word volcano comes from the little island of vulcano in the Mediterranean Sea, these fire fountains can reach hundreds of feet into the sky (Lindop). Early Romans believed this mountain belonged to vulcan, the blacksmith of the gods. Within the last twenty years, a volcanologists have been working hard to learn how to predict eruptions and keep people safe. Ash plumes and steam rose into the bright blue sky as the underground earthquake shook the land and rattled windows all across the eighteen mile town. As the jet circled the island, in view of lovely beaches and emerald water, looming over this lush paradise was the screaming volcano. Volcanos erupt when the pressure inside of them becomes so great that the magma surges up and forces its way out. An exploding volcano can rip apart a mountain in just seconds, when the eruption is over, a landscape is changed forever. The united states is home to more volcanos than any other country except Indonesia, and Japan. The majority of these volcanoes are in Alaska. Until recently, there was no way to predict when a volcano would blow, although volcanoes give off many warning signs before they erupt. Including smaller earthquakes beneath the volcano, slight inflation, or swelling. The rising magma eventually causes the solid rock to break, sending earthquake signals. Most volcanoes give warning signs beginning weeks or months before they blow (Lindop). Lumps of Lava cool into solid rocks as they fly through the sky, forming rounded chunks that can be also known as bombs, while pieces with corners and sharp edges are named blocks. Both bombs and blocks can cause a great deal of damage. As the volcano begins to burst, the sky fills with choking, smoky powder, while it starts raining lava, and rock. The air warmed quicker than when you pour kerosene on a fire, with a sound so loud it circled the earth four times, red hot lava flows down the side of the volcano and magma spews out the top. The only taste in my mouth is the smoke coming from the lava, as the gas in the air turned all my silver jewelry black. I feel very frightened knowing this is such a normal thing to happen in different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is a campus novel about the first flirtation between a university lecturer and a student. The aptly named novel suggests the possible overall outcome of having a relationship with a student. Lurie is someone who has achieved what he wanted to in life, academically but perhaps not romantically? Similarly to Disgrace , Jude is a novel about a first flirtation. Jude is a young scholar, (like Melonie) who is determined to do well in his studies who has been disturbed from his ambitions by the country girls. These women s crude sexuality is threatening Jude s scholarship and ambitions. Arabella is very similar to the character of Moire in Brian Friel s Translations as they are both animalistic down to earth women. In contrast to Disgrace , Jude has an omniscient narrator, giving us in site into all of the characters lives. This guides the reader to feel sympathetic towards Jude as the women are preying on him, also contrasting to Disgrace as in that extract, the male is the perpetrator and the woman is prey. Jude doubts Arabella, but is however, curious of her. She holds him back from his ambition and deviates him from the straight and narrow , his relationship with Arabella progresses beyond this extract, but undoubtedly ends in heartbreak and unhappiness. This is also illuistrated by the initial throwing of the penis, the complete disreguard of the male sexual organ which has been thrown in his face causing a mockery. Lurie in Disgrace uses poetic language forms and phrases with his attempt to lure Melanie into his seduction; he is fixated on her physical attributes stating that a woman s beauty does not belong to her alone .
