Essay About London
I have been far too lax in starting this blog. For weeks, I have told people they could look at my blog to see what I've been up to in London. That
was clearly untrue, given this is my first post. I regret not posting early, because I cannot hope to capture the sense I got of this city when I first
arrived here, nor can I quite recall the exact feeling of taking the Tube for the first time, or my first double decker bus ride. Today was actually my first
time on the upper deck, so that I can recall. Nevertheless, I shall try to communicate, in the fullest sense, my impressions on all kinds of things here in
London. First, the architecture in this city is amazing. Architecture is art. I never really thought about that much until I came...show more content...
Walking is a viable option for class, but not in the morning, because I despise the morning and refuse to spend any more time awake during the
morning than necessary, and not for my internship, for which I must wear a suit. I will now take just a small moment to talk about my internship. I
was so lucky as to land an internship with Mrs. Louise Ellman MP at Parliament. It is amazing. I have a great view of Big Ben from the window by
the lift (elevator) of my floor. I cannot divulge too much on my duties, for need of confidentiality. Please do not think I am being too self–important,
but rather I am staying cautious. I quite like it here, and I would be significant roadblock should I get deported. I mostly respond to constituents
emails and write up briefings. I do feel that I am doing important work. Much of the research I do will be used by Mrs. Ellman during verbal
debates and TV interviews. That makes me quite happy. I will take a minute to briefly touch on my travels thusfar. To Nadia, I beg for your
forgiveness, as I have not yet made it to a castle outside of the Tower of London. The Crown Jewels are quite incredible. There are a number of other
jewels, jewel encrusted swords, staffs, and other objects housed in the same area. I cannot help by lament their display, as the money used in crafting
these objects, or the money made by selling them off, could

The Labour Market Of The Uk
The labour market of the UK is a competitive environment. Workers and employers interact with eachother on a day–to–day basis, with employers
competing to hire the best workers and employees competing to find the best work. The UK in particular has seen as increase in part–time jobs within
the lower end of their labour market, with recent evidence citing the UK having a larger number of low–paid, part–time jobs compared to other
developed countries. As a result of this increase of low–skill work, there has been a growing problem of in–work poverty and failure to address the
growing cost of living with a 'Living Wage' in the UK. The IFS recently reported that low pay is one of the main explanations for an individual
experiencing in–work poverty. In this essay, I will assess the current prospects of improving pay for those at the lower end of the labour market in the
UK. I will assess whether trade unions (TU) and internal labour markets (ILM) provide support or damage attempts to improve pay and evaluate
whether gender inequality is a problem, which is preventing the lower end of the labour market from receiving improved pay.
Internal Labour Markets
It can be argued that the likelihood of pay improving for those at the lower end of the labour market is supported by ILM. These allow employers to
exercise a degree of autonomy by allowing them to use an administrative unit where allocation of labour is governed by a set of rules and procedures.
It can be said that the lower

My composing techniques have slightly changed since I began this course, I learned the important aspects of using a rough draft. At the beginning of
this semester I would spend more time writing down my thoughts on a paper then organizing my thoughts within the rough draft. I learned that it is
ineffective for me to just write down my ideas on a paper with no purpose because I tend to jumble my words. By

then turn off onto the D243 then get on the D215 then carry straight on until the D940 and you carry on into Sangatte.
Then once you arrive in Folkestone you then take the A2034 then turn off at the M20 carry straight on until the A20 carry on then turn off at the A205,
take the A23 then carry on until you reach Central London.
Another way of travelling by rail is by using Eurostar, where as the shuttle runs from Calais in France to Folkestone in the UK, Eurostar connects the
station Gare de Nord in Paris to Waterloo Station in London, this means you get from Paris to London much easier in one train journey rather than
from Calais to Folkestone and then having to travel more.
The Eurostar also uses the Channel tunnel to get from Fran to the UK but this service takes about 2hours 35 minutes. Although this journey is longer
than the first one, in the long run it may be a quicker solution and effectively be quicker overall as it takes you from where you want to go to exactly
where you want to go in one journey.

British Education System
The development of the British education system and the impact of this development on UK culture and society
From 4416 cities, 195 countries and 7 continents Britain is thought to be one of the worlds most exceptional and fascinating countries to be educated
in. In Britain education first began emerging around 1680s, from then onwards the British education system has continued to develop till this day. This
has meant that the UK's education system has become a very successful and inclusive system. According to (Aftab Ali 2016) Britain is thought to have
one of the world's strongest higher education systems. Second after the USA with a score of 98.5. Also, (Aftab Ali 2016) mentions that "European
countries emerge as the most–featured than any other continent." This means that Europe has a global reputation in the eyes of international students.
As a result of this global reputation students are attracted to studying in the UK. Furthermore, this essay will discuss the development of the British
education system over the last 150 years and it will evaluate the impact of this development on culture and society.
The first set of schools and the main education acts that shaped the British education system existed in the 19th century. During the early 19th century
there wasn't an appropriate state provision system for the UK's education. However, later in 1870 the Elementary Education Act was introduced to

United Kingdom Essay
The United Kingdom is a country located in the North West of Europe that has four parts, England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The capital
city is London, which the River Thames flows through from Thames Head to 140 miles later at Teddington Lock where it ends. Compared to the
United States, the United Kingdom is quite small in fact it is approximately the size of New England. Despite being diminutive in size, there is layer
upon layer of cultures and history. Also, it has geographic diversity, from the moors of Devon to the swamps in the southeast to the highlands of
Scotland. Although dwindling, many native languages survived and still spoken to this day. Some of those are Celtic, Irish, Scottish Gaelic, and Welsh.

Each wave of migrations and invasions brought different cultures and added to what is now modern–day the United Kingdom. The Romans left their
numerous long roads, whose names became lost in time since there was no written records or inscribed sources. Built by the Roman army and long
after they returned home, their roads survived, and some routes are in use today. The Normans built fortified castles, which was a new concept since
before that time there was none in the United Kingdom. One example is Restormel Castle, which is in a circular in shape as well as surrounded by an
entrenched circular ditch for protection against attacks. The Vikings left parts of their language in the names of the towns and villages, such as names
ending in by are where Vikings settled first. Places ending in Thorpe are their secondary settlements, and places that end in ton is for town or city.
D. The Saxons replaced the Roman stone buildings with wooden ones. The Saxon language gave rise to the English spoken today.
Over the centuries, waves of different peoples have invaded or migrated to the United Kingdom. Beginning with the Romans, Saxons, Normans and

The Uk 's Climate Policy Essay
Introduction
There has been significant movement to the UK's climate policy in the last decade. The UK has adopted various policies and instruments to mitigate
and adapt to climate change. The recent legislation to tackle climate change in the UK, is successful in itself. This is compared to the international
community who have failed to create a fully legally binding document. However climate policy in the UK has not been a resounding success; there is
not a wide enough range of active policies and instruments. In addition, the current policies need to remain consistent and extend their applicability to
gain success.
Brief History of UK Climate Policy
The UNFCCC was established in 1994 to address climate change at an international level. Since then, the parties to the convention (including the EU)
meet annually in Conferences of the Parties. The Kyoto Protocol (1997) set an obligation for developed countries to lower greenhouse gas (GHG)
emissions, through setting national targets, using 1990 as a base level. The UK has been one of only a few countries to comply with the international
obligation and has reduced GHG emissions since 1990.
The Climate Change Act is the first UK legislation to solely address climate change. It focuses on mitigating climate change, using energy more
efficiently; and adapting to risks such as floods. This act set the UK with a long–term emissions reduction target of at least 80% lower than the 1990
baseline by 2050. Carbon budgets are set by the

How Effective Is Separation Of Power In The UK?
Introduction
Argument 1
The social composition of the judiciary doesn't matter, judiciary operates under parliament. Parliament is under control
Separation Of Powers
Under the British constitution, parliament is sovereign. This means, amongst other things, that Parliament has a monopoly on making and amending
laws. The British constitution, and the three functions of government which operate it often falls short of creating a definitive separation. Separation of
powers refers to the idea that the major institutions of government should function independent of each other, in a utopian world there should aim to be
a balance between the Crown and Parliament. In practice however, separation between the executive and legislature is near enough non–existent, an
example being that government is made up almost entirely of MPs. Contrast this with the USA where no member of Obama's government is equally a
member of congress. However, the USA does have a codified constitution, a constitution written to delegate a clear separation of power. As we are well
aware the UK doesn't have such a constitution, the rules that...show more content...
The literal rule is the traditional English approach, if a court follows the literal rule they are complying with the exact words of parliament, thereby
upholding the key constitutional principle of parliamentary sovereignty which says the courts cannot challenge what parliament has passed. The
purposive approach however seeks to get away from the artificial consideration of language and to instead seek to find the purpose behind the act.
However, it does not fit well with the idea of parliamentary sovereignty. The courts have the ability to say what they think Parliament meant rather than
just applying the words of an

My Experience At The London, Oxford, And Dublin
The trip to London, Oxford, and Dublin taught me so much more than I ever thought possible. The experience truly opened my eyes to global
business, and made a huge impact on my education. Coming into this semester at CU I wondered if business really was the right career choice for me,
but this trip changed my perspective entirely and validated any previous doubts. The trip, most importantly, proved that there are so many opportunities
out there in the business world because before this trip I had very little exposure to looking into business environments, cultures, and interactions. The

That initial visit opened my eyes to all the possibilities that lie ahead. Our previous visit to Google in Boulder gave me a little insight on what it
would be like, yet the visit was still better than any of my expectations. Google was a great company to start at, as it set high expectations for the rest
of the companies to follow.
As we continued through to the various company visits, I learned so many things about global business. The office cultures all seemed to be
carefree, yet still very productive. When people think of business they think of small cubicles in office buildings, but these companies proved again
and again that business can be fun and profitable simultaneously. Trips to the Feldon Forest Farm, Roadside Tavern, and Burren Smokehouse all
demonstrated that you do not have to be a huge name brand to have a global market and be successful. Ultimately, my favorite company to visit was
CBRE, so I wish to explore the real estate area more. Visiting this company expanded my views on real estate and all the various aspects that come
with it. Having multiple American employees there for our visit showed that it is still possible to go global within the real estate industry. Prior to the
visit I was interested in this career, but CBRE made me

Culture in Britain
Culture is how groups of people live in society according to their religion, custom or belief. This influences attitudes, values and behaviour. Each
culture varies, having differences, such as, language, norms, values and expectations. This can be demonstrated in lots of ways, for instance, types of
clothes worn, food eaten, wedding ceremonies and celebrations. Cultures normally have traditions that have been followed for centuries. For example,
in Africa it is common for the groom or his family to pay the bride's family, a bride–price, in exchange for her 'labour and reproductive powers'

The British Constitution Essay example
The British Constitution
A constitution is a set of laws on how a country is governed. The British Constitution is unwritten, unlike the constitution in America, and, as such, is
referred to as an uncodified constitution. The British Constitution can be found in a variety of documents. Supporters of our constitution believe that the
current way allows for flexibility and change to occur without too many problems. Those who want a written constitution believe that it should be
codified so that the public as a whole has access to it – as opposed to just constitutional experts who know where to look and how to interpret it.
Amendments to Britain's unwritten constitution are made the same way –...show more content...
There are two basic principles to the British Constitution:
* The Rule of Law
* The Supremacy of Parliament
The main arguments for a written and codified constitution:
Parliament is currently unrestrained:
It can make or unmake any law.
It cannot be checked by any other branch of the system
Its heavy workload can mean poor laws are passed
The Unitary system can mean the creation of laws that are inappropriate to regions of the UK
~ The independence of the Judiciary would be protected
~ Basic rights of citizens are identified and guaranteed
~ There will be less constitutional crises as there will not be confusion as to what is 'unconstitutional behaviour'
~ A large parliamentary majority means the domination of the legislature by the executive. An "elective dictatorship"
~ The first past the post system creates an "exaggerated mandate" for the largest party, which is unlikely to have over 50% of the votes (this has not
happened since 1945)
~ Without a Bill of Rights, it is Parliament's duty to preserve liberties. However these can be removed at any time by Parliament (e.g. Internment, the
Prevention of Terrorism Act).
The main arguments against a written and codified constitution:
~ "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". The British constitution has served us well over the

Essay about Training and Development
Training and development has become increasingly essential to the success of modern organisations, yet some still look at training as a problem or as
something that is not taken seriously. Training and development is one key approach used by organisations to improve and maintain the capabilities of
its workforce. However, many experts distinguish between training and development, being that training tends to be more closely focused and adapted
towards short–term performance concerns, while development tends to be adapted more towards expanding an individual's skills for future
responsibilities (Snell and Bohlander 2007). The main reason that organisations train their employees is to bring their knowledge, skills and abilities up

Furthermore, spoiled work, damages, and accidents to equipment and machinery can be kept to a minimum by well trained employees, continued
training helps employees develop their ability to learn by adapting themselves to new work methods, learning to use new kinds of equipment, and
adjusting to major changes in work relationships and job content, also, through training, new employees learn to measure up to standards for
performance, thereby satisfying their human need for personal growth and increasing their value to the organisation (Pigors and Myers 1977).
Similarly, Longenecker and Fink (2005) assert that the benefits derived from training are manifold, and these include; exposure to new and better
practices and ideas for application, leads to reflection, self–appraisal and retrospection, motivates employees to improve performance, encourages
career development planning, helps identify specific performance problems and challenges an employee to think differently, to name a few. Other
benefits are a more flexible workforce, improved performance of existing employees, decreased supervision, higher skill levels and reduced learning
time, thus reducing learning costs, improved organisation morale, and to ensure for succession (Molander 1989).

Essay About London

  • 1. Essay About London I have been far too lax in starting this blog. For weeks, I have told people they could look at my blog to see what I've been up to in London. That was clearly untrue, given this is my first post. I regret not posting early, because I cannot hope to capture the sense I got of this city when I first arrived here, nor can I quite recall the exact feeling of taking the Tube for the first time, or my first double decker bus ride. Today was actually my first time on the upper deck, so that I can recall. Nevertheless, I shall try to communicate, in the fullest sense, my impressions on all kinds of things here in London. First, the architecture in this city is amazing. Architecture is art. I never really thought about that much until I came...show more content... Walking is a viable option for class, but not in the morning, because I despise the morning and refuse to spend any more time awake during the morning than necessary, and not for my internship, for which I must wear a suit. I will now take just a small moment to talk about my internship. I was so lucky as to land an internship with Mrs. Louise Ellman MP at Parliament. It is amazing. I have a great view of Big Ben from the window by the lift (elevator) of my floor. I cannot divulge too much on my duties, for need of confidentiality. Please do not think I am being too self–important, but rather I am staying cautious. I quite like it here, and I would be significant roadblock should I get deported. I mostly respond to constituents emails and write up briefings. I do feel that I am doing important work. Much of the research I do will be used by Mrs. Ellman during verbal debates and TV interviews. That makes me quite happy. I will take a minute to briefly touch on my travels thusfar. To Nadia, I beg for your forgiveness, as I have not yet made it to a castle outside of the Tower of London. The Crown Jewels are quite incredible. There are a number of other jewels, jewel encrusted swords, staffs, and other objects housed in the same area. I cannot help by lament their display, as the money used in crafting these objects, or the money made by selling them off, could Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The Labour Market Of The Uk The labour market of the UK is a competitive environment. Workers and employers interact with eachother on a day–to–day basis, with employers competing to hire the best workers and employees competing to find the best work. The UK in particular has seen as increase in part–time jobs within the lower end of their labour market, with recent evidence citing the UK having a larger number of low–paid, part–time jobs compared to other developed countries. As a result of this increase of low–skill work, there has been a growing problem of in–work poverty and failure to address the growing cost of living with a 'Living Wage' in the UK. The IFS recently reported that low pay is one of the main explanations for an individual experiencing in–work poverty. In this essay, I will assess the current prospects of improving pay for those at the lower end of the labour market in the UK. I will assess whether trade unions (TU) and internal labour markets (ILM) provide support or damage attempts to improve pay and evaluate whether gender inequality is a problem, which is preventing the lower end of the labour market from receiving improved pay. Internal Labour Markets It can be argued that the likelihood of pay improving for those at the lower end of the labour market is supported by ILM. These allow employers to exercise a degree of autonomy by allowing them to use an administrative unit where allocation of labour is governed by a set of rules and procedures. It can be said that the lower Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 4. Reflection On Eportfolio Welcome to my eportfolio, here you will find an in–depth analysis about my WOVE experiences in English250. By creating my eportfolio I have learned my weaknesses and strengths within my written, oral, visual, and electronic communication modes. When you begin exploring my portfolio, I will be sharing with you on how I have grown within the WOVE areas this semester. Here is a brief overview of what you can find on my eportfolio. The menu section that is located at the top of the website can be easily used to navigate my introductory, about me, WOVE, reflection, and closing pages. These pages can also be easily accessed on the contents which is located at the top right side of each page. The WOVE page has a drop–down box menu that contains my written communication, and OVE communication modes. Also, the reflection page has a drop–down box menu that contains my reflection on my written revision, reflection on OVE artifact, and Special reflection about E. The closing page will contain my final closing reflection and my about me page, will personally tell you more about myself. My composing techniques have slightly changed since I began this course, I learned the important aspects of using a rough draft. At the beginning of this semester I would spend more time writing down my thoughts on a paper then organizing my thoughts within the rough draft. I learned that it is ineffective for me to just write down my ideas on a paper with no purpose because I tend to jumble my words. By Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In Britain education first began emerging around 1680s, from then onwards the British education system has continued to develop till this day. This has meant that the UK's education system has become a very successful and inclusive system. According to (Aftab Ali 2016) Britain is thought to have one of the world's strongest higher education systems. Second after the USA with a score of 98.5. Also, (Aftab Ali 2016) mentions that "European countries emerge as the most–featured than any other continent." This means that Europe has a global reputation in the eyes of international students. As a result of this global reputation students are attracted to studying in the UK. Furthermore, this essay will discuss the development of the British education system over the last 150 years and it will evaluate the impact of this development on culture and society. The first set of schools and the main education acts that shaped the British education system existed in the 19th century. The Romans left their numerous long roads, whose names became lost in time since there was no written records or inscribed sources. Built by the Roman army and long after they returned home, their roads survived, and some routes are in use today. The Normans built fortified castles, which was a new concept since before that time there was none in the United Kingdom. One example is Restormel Castle, which is in a circular in shape as well as surrounded by an entrenched circular ditch for protection against attacks. The Vikings left parts of their language in the names of the towns and villages, such as names ending in by are where Vikings settled first. Places ending in Thorpe are their secondary settlements, and places that end in ton is for town or city. D. The Saxons replaced the Roman stone buildings with wooden ones. • 10. The Uk 's Climate Policy Essay Introduction There has been significant movement to the UK's climate policy in the last decade. The UK has adopted various policies and instruments to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The recent legislation to tackle climate change in the UK, is successful in itself. This is compared to the international community who have failed to create a fully legally binding document. However climate policy in the UK has not been a resounding success; there is not a wide enough range of active policies and instruments. In addition, the current policies need to remain consistent and extend their applicability to gain success. Brief History of UK Climate Policy The UNFCCC was established in 1994 to address climate change at an international level. Since then, the parties to the convention (including the EU) meet annually in Conferences of the Parties. The Kyoto Protocol (1997) set an obligation for developed countries to lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, through setting national targets, using 1990 as a base level. The UK has been one of only a few countries to comply with the international obligation and has reduced GHG emissions since 1990. The Climate Change Act is the first UK legislation to solely address climate change. It focuses on mitigating climate change, using energy more efficiently; and adapting to risks such as floods. This act set the UK with a long–term emissions reduction target of at least 80% lower than the 1990 baseline by 2050. Carbon budgets are set by the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I can only imagine the joy of walking down the streets and being a personal witness to the architectural beauty that surrounds the city. Planning a visit to London can be a big long process due to the fact that it's in another continent and extremely expensive. The experience of being there and learning about all London has to offer would definitely make it worth the try. I would love to visit London because it's full of culture, history and amazing places to visit. One of the very unique aspects of London is the amount of cultural experiences it offers. According to www.theguardian.com to Ken Livingstone in the article "London's Diversity is its Artistic Treasure" London depends on its cultural aspects in order to be successful in the future. The economy and the quality of life has been greatly influenced by the cultural aspect. London's cultural riches come from more than 2000 years of history. Not only does London offer hundreds of years of history but has also adopted modern day creativity. Because of its diversity the city has become a worldwide attraction bringing into its city new talent that comes from the rest of the world. • 12. How Effective Is Separation Of Power In The UK? Introduction Argument 1 The social composition of the judiciary doesn't matter, judiciary operates under parliament. Parliament is under control Separation Of Powers Under the British constitution, parliament is sovereign. This means, amongst other things, that Parliament has a monopoly on making and amending laws. The British constitution, and the three functions of government which operate it often falls short of creating a definitive separation. Separation of powers refers to the idea that the major institutions of government should function independent of each other, in a utopian world there should aim to be a balance between the Crown and Parliament. In practice however, separation between the executive and legislature is near enough non–existent, an example being that government is made up almost entirely of MPs. Contrast this with the USA where no member of Obama's government is equally a member of congress. However, the USA does have a codified constitution, a constitution written to delegate a clear separation of power. As we are well aware the UK doesn't have such a constitution, the rules that...show more content... The experience truly opened my eyes to global business, and made a huge impact on my education. Coming into this semester at CU I wondered if business really was the right career choice for me, but this trip changed my perspective entirely and validated any previous doubts. The trip, most importantly, proved that there are so many opportunities out there in the business world because before this trip I had very little exposure to looking into business environments, cultures, and interactions. The visits that we took to Google, Zayo, IMB, Barry Callebaut, CBRE, and more far surpassed any of my expectations. The early morning treks to different ...show more content... That initial visit opened my eyes to all the possibilities that lie ahead. Our previous visit to Google in Boulder gave me a little insight on what it would be like, yet the visit was still better than any of my expectations. Google was a great company to start at, as it set high expectations for the rest of the companies to follow. As we continued through to the various company visits, I learned so many things about global business. The office cultures all seemed to be carefree, yet still very productive. When people think of business they think of small cubicles in office buildings, but these companies proved again and again that business can be fun and profitable simultaneously. Trips to the Feldon Forest Farm, Roadside Tavern, and Burren Smokehouse all demonstrated that you do not have to be a huge name brand to have a global market and be successful. Ultimately, my favorite company to visit was CBRE, so I wish to explore the real estate area more. Visiting this company expanded my views on real estate and all the various aspects that come with it. Having multiple American employees there for our visit showed that it is still possible to go global within the real estate industry.
