Difference between Greek and Modern Theatres
The Difference between Greek and Modern theatres

Difference between Greek and Modern Theatres
Theatre today as in ancient Greek times is a popular form of entertainment. Today s theatres share
many similarities with the Greek predecessors however they are also very different. There are in
fact many differences for example; layout, special effects, seating arrangement, the importance of
drama and religion, setting, location and architectural features.
In ancient Greece festivals were mainly held at the Great Dionysia. This was the oldest theatre in
Greece and many plays were performed here for example the first performance of Antigone. The
patron of the theatre was the God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today special effects in modern theatres are taken for granted by the audiences. Flashing lights,
smoke, electronic sound and even microphones for actors were all not available to the ancient
Greeks. In ancient times there special effects included; cranes for lifting actors into the air and
ekkyklema (a trolley used to roll on stage via the central doors to carry away dead bodies. Many
of these effects are not used to today as modern audiences want the play to be as realistic as
possible and many of these effects would not achieve this. But today they still use wires in order to
make actors appear to be flying; this is similar to the machine but more advanced to do modern
technologies.
At the back of the ancient Greek theatre stood the skene . The word skene means stage building.
The skene was a wooden building where the actors could change and this building could also be
used for as a house or temple or any other part of scenery (Gill). At the front of the
skene there was a large double door for the actors to make their entrance. Actors could also enter
through the parados if they were acting as characters from foreign lands or who had just arrived
(University Press Inc). There were three areas where the actors could act; the platform in front of
the stage building, the orchestra and the roof of the stage building. The roof of the stage building

Barnet Fair Essay
Vyse At Barnet Fair Vyse s next figure group represents that leisurely period of England s history
before the onset of WWII. The locations of the Barnet Horse Fair has changed over time, and
eventually it moved to a field near field by Barnet Lane in 1934. The horse fair was held in the
field adjacent to the pleasure fair. With his At Barnet Fair (Fig. 121), Vyse revisits a much
favoured subject the gypsy mother and her child. Of all the Vyses gypsy subjects, this figure
group is the most sought after, and more especially by male collectors, and its comparative rarity,
is of course an additional factor. It is not known exactly how many editions were produced, but the
group became a sure fire winner with the Vyse figure aficionados of North America. That aside,...

With the prospect of Walker s Galleries end of year sale in mind, Vyse acceded to this
exceptional demand. From the carefully stored piece moulds, he cast a new edition of the 1927
figure group. Possibly, the leather hard clay parts proved problematic to assemble, or possibly the
number of piece moulds too excessive. For whatever the reason, he decided an adjustment to the
composition would to facilitate the assembly of the clay parts. The main points of diversion
between the two models, is the noticeable replacement of the head, and the right arm, and of course
the hawk. There has also been some adjustment to the back legs of the donkey. In the remodelling,
Vyse has injected liveliness to the composition, giving the subject s posture more upright attitude.
There are other, numerous small modelling differences, and to name a few obvious changes: the
subject s drapery and left gauntlet, the donkey s mane, the altered mallard ducks. The cantered
rectangular base, has been remodelled to represent a flower strewn a bank, this is now shallower

Zeffirelli Vs Branagh
Hamlet is one of Shakespeare s most well known and most frequently performed plays. Many
people have enjoyed reading and watching hamlet, both on stage and theatrically. Directors often
add different styles to their pieces to invoke different moods. These styles change as time
progresses; predominant in the comparison between Franco Zeffirelli s and Kenneth Branaghs
direction of William Shakespeares Hamletact 3 scene 1. Zeffirelli s interpretation of Shakespeare s
Hamlet act 3 scene 1 is more effective than Branagh s interpretation. Zeffirelli centralizes the play
around a dark setting and dark clothing style which puts emphasis on the sadness certain characters
are facing. Whereas Branagh uses more vibrant colors in clothing style and... Show more content on

Branagh s use of setting is not as effective as other cinematic depictions of the play, as it does not
fully enlighten the sad mood. Branagh s style of direction takes away the sad mood. To begin,
Branagh uses a colorful setting to take away the emphasis on the surrounding sadness, while
maintaining a sad mood. In Branagh s version his portrayal of the setting during the interaction
between Hamlet and Ophelia captures the sad mood. Branagh captures Hamlets movement
through an array of rare emotion as he takes in Ophelia s words. When Hamlet and Ophelia first
see each other, happy music and warm light and bright setting create a light, triumphant mood
that showcases their deep love. The statement I did love you once (3.1.14) is spoken with tears
in his eyes that capture Hamlet s love. When Ophelia s returns the tokens Hamlet shows his
feelings of betrayal and all of his emotions shift as he grapples at understanding. As Hamlet s
anger rises, the music shifts to match it. This interpretation suggests that with deep love comes
the ability to hurt each other deeply. Shortly after Ophelia s sorrowful speech helps aid in
developing a sad mood. The use of setting is not as effective as other depiction of the scene yet it
prevails in its intention of creating a sad mood. Next, the setting during Hamlet s soliloquy is
what establishes a sad mood. Branagh s makes Hamlet speaks his soliloquy steadily in a large
room filled with mirrors. Mirrors are often used to suggest self reflection and clarity. It is ironic
Branagh s emotionally susceptible Hamlet is associated with an item of reflection and clarity.
Branagh s Hamlet does not shift from suicidal to contemplative at the

A D High Tech (A): Managing Projects for Success:
A Negative View
1. What is the estimated project completion date? (Assume there are no holidays and ignore the
sunk cost of the planning team s effort)
The estimated project completion date is TUE 11/13/13 with duration of 127 days. After leveling
and re allocating work along the project line, the project got delayed for 3 days so that the
completion day moved up to FRI 11/21/13 (total duration of 130 days). (MS Project 2007)
2. What is the total cost? How much of the total cost are labor costs? Capital costs?
Total Cost: $98,500 + $844,980 = $943,480

* Project can not be delivered by scheduled date.
* Changes are required to scope, time, and cost.
Under present circumstances project would be delayed by 431 days, no way to deliver on project
completion date of November 18th, 2003.
Senior managers were adamant about project scope, so changes will be unlikely here.
Approve more funds to hire more resources, unclear how many will be needed to gain this amount
of time from the duration.
Allow the delivery to be delayed, this will ease the strain, (personal and mental) on resources, but
will increase costs.
3. What is (are) the critical path(s) in the project? What is the level of risk in completing tasks on
the critical path(s)? Explain.
Analyzing the critical path, there is a high level risk as it runs parallel to itself, more than one
task at a particular time could delay project. Some other tasks run parallel to the critical path and
have same duration; a delay in one of these tasks will change the critical path and delay the whole
project.
Resources overuse
4. What is your opinion on the potential for the project to be completed on time?

and go behind schedule. And we would like to suggest some opinion about the management of the

Loss of Identity in Invisible Man Essay
Loss of Identity in Invisible Man
No matter how hard the Invisible Man tries, he can never break from the mold of black society.
This mold is crafted and held together by white society during the novel. The stereotypes and
expectations of a racist society compel blacks to behave only in certain ways, never allowing them
to act according to their own will. Even the actions of black activists seeking equality are
manipulated as if they are marionettes on strings. Throughout the novel the Invisible Man
encounters this phenomenon and although he strives to achieve his own identity in society, his
determination is that it is impossible.
In the beginning of the novel, the Invisible Man is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The marionette metaphor is therefore exemplified in a physical sense. However the Invisible Man
observes others in the book that manifest this metaphor in a psychological sense.
The concept of blindness is a reoccurring theme in the book that serves to control the blacks.
Reverend Barbee s sermon is the first encounter involving symbolic blindness. The sermon
reinforces the values of the school, which give the impression that blacks have the opportunity to
gain true equality if they work hard enough. Barbee tells the story of the founder of the school.
Barbee regards the Founder as a god of sorts, whose ideology should be trusted completely, like a
religion. The sermon declares that the Founder s ideology and life represent a universal example
that should be followed. Interestingly enough, Barbee is physically blind and therefore displays
how this ideology is followed blindly. This serves to pigeon hole the efforts of the students at the
college, keeping them in control, further emulating this marionette metaphor. Although at this point
in the book the Invisible Man does not yet realize it, this is his first encounter with this metaphor in
a psychological sense.
Later on in the novel, the Invisible Man joins the Brotherhood, and the theme of

Comparing The Book Of Ruth And 1 Kings 1-11
In this threaded discussion board you will use your analytical skills to compare and contrast the
book of Ruth to the end of Solomon s reign found in 1 Kings 1 11. It is important to look at these
two sections of scripture as bookends . Then, use your interpretative skills to explain the
significance of these two sections of scripture
A big difference in the book of Ruth and 1 Kings is the origin of the main characters. Ruth is a
Moabite woman from outside the Promised Land. Her upbringing most likely did not involve
learning or following the covenants of God. Her exposure to God most likely came from
Naomi, Naomi s husband and Naomi s son. But considering this family initially left the Promised
Land for a different life we can only speculate how faithful to God this family may have been.
Solomon was King David s son raised in the knowledge of God and his covenants. Solomon may
have even had first hand experience with his father praying to God.
A similarity between the two characters is their uncommon placement into their situation. Ruth was
a foreigner to Israel, brought to Israel by her devotion to her mother in law and God s divine
intervention. Had she not met this family in Moab, she would have never ... Show more content on

Although the book does start out with sorrow of the death of the men in Ruth and Naomi s life,
the story ends with happiness and blessings. Ruth represents a kind, caring and hardworking
individual. Because she had a devotion to her mother in law and followed her instructions
faithfully, Naomi and Ruth are blessed. Ruth is a gentile but God recognizes Ruth s faithfulness
and devotion and blesses her. Boaz is also named as a man faithful to God (Duvall, Hayes, 2012).
Boaz is also blessed with the land of his kin, a marriage to Ruth who it appears he had fallen in
love with and then a son named Obed. The book of Ruth essentially is the beginning to the story of
David. Ruth a faithful gentile and Boaz a faithful Israelite

Cereal at the Store Study
Introduction Breakfast cereal is a commonly eaten food in the United States. According to the
website CEEREAL of the European breakfast cereal Association, the first ever cereal was
granola which was invented by James Caleb Jackson in 1863 who was the operator of the
Jackson Sanitarian in the state of New York (Ceereal). It would not catch on due to the long prep
time needed to make the cereal edible. In 1889 two brothers W.K. Kellogg, and his brother, Dr.

location and the surrounding neighborhoods. This store can cater to traditional working class
urbanites to the affluent suburbanite who works downtown and stop at this location to buy
groceries before going home. Given this diverse clientele I concluded this store would be a good
store to observe. When I enter the store the first thing I did was walk towards the cereal Aisle
which is in the middle of the store. Once I was in the cereal aisle, I would notice that besides
cereal the also contained other breakfast foods such as Pop Tarts, breakfast bars, and oatmeal. The
aisle also contained products to make other breakfast food such as an egg poacher and a
breakfast sandwich maker. Finally I would observe that the area also was where the Tea and hot
chocolate is located which usually complement breakfast. I would next focus on the Cereal Aisle
I would first discover how the cereal was arranged. At this location the cereal was arranged
according to brands. One section of the aisle was dedicated to Kellogg products such as raisin brand

Corruption Of Youth In Plato s Apology
Today s society is completely controlled by technology, the news, and social media. So much of
what people learn is from the news. It is so easy for someone to go on their computer in the
morning, pull up CNN, and read about what is going on in the world. The only problem with this
is that CNN can put whatever they desire on their website and portray to their readers their bias.
The most impressionable of these people is the youthof the world. Younger children are the most
impressionable people on the planet, and with social media they are being exposed to the
opinions of the world at such a young age. Social media makes information available at the touch
of your fingertips. All it takes is logging on to a computer and searching whatever you want to
read about. Also, celebrities act ridiculously and become a bad influence on young kids who
looked up to them. In Platos Apology an example of the corruptionof youth it discussed. Socrates
corrupts the youth by telling them his unorthodox ideas that differ from the rest of the society, and
in response the other members of the society claim that Socrates is poisoning the minds of the
youth. The corruption of youth in Plato s Apology is drastically different than how the youth are
corrupted today, and through social media, the news, and how celebrities act the youth of today
become more corrupted.
In Plato s Apology, Socrates is on trial by Meletus about offenses that he has committed against the
state. Socrates is accused of

Leviathan By Thomas Hobbes
Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes was written in 1651 to publish the political thoughts of Hobbes and
promote his negative view to human nature. The story is interesting, because of the fact that even
though it was written four hundred years ago, it can still be applied to society today. Leviathan
consists of many sections promoting Hobbes beliefs, but the section in Perry s textbook is about the
misinterpretation of equality of mankind. Hobbes wrote this to explain to the population the
selfishness of humanity and to rid the world of power and corruption. However, Hobbes does not
see much of a chance for humanity to actually treat each other equally. Instead, he splits the
disagreements of mankind into three categories, first, competition; secondly, diffidence; thirdly,
glory (21).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our natural instinct as humans is to become and want to become as powerful as we possibly can.
He attributes this attribute to our desire for gain and to be the master of other people as well. It is
easy to see this attribute in our world leaders like the President of the United States or any of the
other leaders of the many countries on our planet. Another area of our society that this attribute
of gain and selfishness, especially in the United States, is in the corporate world. Many of our
powerful business leaders are driven by great and power over others, and this drive only proves
Hobbes point about the naturally selfish nature of humanity. Looking back at the 1600, Hobbes
time, the drive for man to compete was very relevant in leadership positions of countries. Many
of the kings and dictators of history have been driven to compete by the drive to power. Each ruler
is driven by their own specific reason to compete, but when push comes to shove, our nature is to
compete for what we want, not to compromise for

Big Bang Light Elements
Elements are substances that cannot be separated into smaller substances and are made up entirely
of one type of atom. Naturally existing elements can be categorized as either light elements or
heavy elements. During the Big Bang light elements were formed such as hydrogen, lithium,
lithium and deuterium. The heavy elements originated from Stellar Nucleosynthesis. Heavy
elements, however, are formed such as uranium and iron are formed through Stellar
Nucleosynthesis while materials heavier than this are formed through a supernova.
Soon after the big bang the cosmic dust as well as gases combined and cooled off together to form
stars. The nuclear fusion in stars converts hydrogen into helium and is a continuous process in the
stars until hydrogen runs out at the core of the star. When hydrogen runs out, helium atoms fuse to
form carbon atoms. Massive stars can synthesize heavier elements such as ... Show more content on

Ionic bonds, on the other hand, occur when two metals completely transfer electrons between them.
Hydrogen has only one electron that goes to the lowest energy orbital hence its electronic structure
is 1s1. Carbon, on the other hand, has six electrons hence the electronic structure is
1s22s22px12py1. Alkanes are formed through atomic bonds formed between carbon and hydrogen.
For example, methane, CH4 has a tetrahedral shape based on the four atoms bonding with the
central carbon atom. Each hydrogen atom contributes one electron equivalent to one C H bond but
still, there are still 2p orbitals in the carbon atom with unpaired electrons. Four equivalent bonds
are needed so the atomic wave functions for the 2s and three 2porbitals come together to form new
molecular wave functions and new molecular orbitals. These molecular orbitals produce hybrid

Earnest Hemingway Essay
Earnest Hemingway
As one of the 20th century s most important and influential writers. His writings drew heavily on
his own experiences for his writing. His writing reflected his trouble with relating to women and
his tendency to treat them as objects, as he had four marriages and countless affairs, highlighting
his theme of alienation and disconnection. Now here is why he is what he is by writing about what
he was.
Ernest Miller Hemingway was born on July 21, 1899, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Dr. Clarence
Hemingway and Grace Hall Hemingway. Oak Park was a mainly Protestant, upper middle class
suburb of Chicago that Hemingway would later refer to as a town of wide lawns and narrow ...

job, a munitions factory exploded and he had to carry the bodies and body parts of the women
who worked in the factory to a makeshift morgue. Only a few weeks later, as he was distributing
chocolate and cigarettes to Italian soldiers in the trenches near the front lines, Hemingway was
seriously wounded by fragments from an Austrian mortar shell which had landed only a few feet

however, some believe that Hemingway may have changed some details about the event in retelling
it or fabricated it altogether (Rozkis 235).

Essay on History of Aruba
History of Aruba
Although there are no written accounts of Aruba s early history, much has been determined by
archeological excavation. The first known settlers of the island were a tribe of Arawak natives
called the Caiquetios. These people were initially located on the South American mainland, and it
is assumed that the Caiquetios migrated from Venezuela to Aruba. Due to its lack of natural
resources, it can be assumed that Aruba was merely a stopover for a succession of tribes. They were
a peaceful people, living under the guidance of a shaman or priest, who also served as the village
chief. The transient nature of Aruba s population kept the size of the villages small, usually under
fifty individuals. The Caiquetios consumed only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the Spanish realized that the climate of Aruba was too arid for cultivation and there was
little evidence of the gold they were seeking, they essentially abandoned it to the native Caiquetios
for approximately 150 years, and devoted their attention to their more lucrative possessions. Some
natives were brought to Spain s other islands, such as Hispaniola, to work as slaves, while others
were converted to Christianity. Before long, however, the island became a concealed hide away
for pirates and buccaneers who preyed on ships transporting New World goods back to Europe. At
Bushiribana on the northeast coast, the ruins of an old pirate castle remain today.
During this time, the Dutch and Spanish had begun their Eighty Years War, which, in 1580,
resulted in the closing of Portugal s ports to Dutch navigation. The Dutch began traveling to the
West Indies in search of foreign goods such as salt. Following the Spanish conquest of their base
in St. Maarten, the Dutch set out looking for another place to establish a colonial presence. In
1936 they captured the islands of Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire from the Spanish who put up very
little defense. The Dutch West India Company set up its administrative capital on Curaçao and
formed an economic plan for its Netherlands Antilles. Curaçao would be the capital and
agricultural center, Bonaire would be used for salt making and maize growing,

A Stakeholder Management Model For Ethical Decision Making
It is important for a business to balance all the different stakeholders that a company might have.
Some stakeholders might have different priorities than others. For example, some shareholders
expect the business to give them only money while others stakeholders need good working
conditions. Also, investors might wish to see proof that the company responds to environmental
matters before promising money to a business. In addition, problems might happen when
stakeholders compromise to the expectation of other stakeholders.
The difference priorities of stakeholders can come into place when organizations have to come up
with a decision, they have to decide which stakeholders should be prioritized. When beginning the
dialogue with a specific stakeholder group, the management should explain from the beginning
what the intended objectives of the dialogue are.
Measure performance: the company should be able to tell how well its stakeholder management
processes are going which of course depends on what objectives the firm has set for a specific
stakeholder engagement process. ( a stakeholder management model for ethical decision

sales are only one bit of the entire marketing process. In order to comprehend the idea, it is crucial
to understand the marketing mix. Prior to a business choosing to launch an item into the business
sector there are variables and components that should be considered. Variables in marketingare
considered part of the marketing mix that is set up before the advertising program begins which
thus characterizes the four factors known as the four Ps . The variables in advertising will decide
the components of the item and how the purchaser or client sees the item. The four Ps consist of
product, price, promotion, and place.
For instance, Victoria s Secret a very well known company covering a wide variety of products such
as women sleepwear, swimsuits, clothing, underwear and cosmetics uses the marketing mix to their
advantage. Their most recent inventive step that the company made was the presentation of a line
called PINK. The line was launched with the point of growing the essential target market which
included young women in their mid 20s. In the present day, the target market also involves women
in their teens with the most recent PINK line. PINK had to be capable of designing want satisfying
products, setting a correct price for the items based on their target audience, putting the products in
places where customers will purchase them, and lastly create promotions

The Catcher In The Rye Essay
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger is about a boy named Holden Caulfield and his struggle
with life. Like any other teenager, he is simply looking for his place in the world. However, it is
shown that Holden is no ordinary teenager for he displays many signs of depression. His
depression seems to escalate throughout the novel. For example, many nights he has trouble
sleeping, he also is quite the alcoholic and a heavy smoker, he doesnt feed his body with the proper
nutrients and he talks of committing suicideat various points in the novel. Holden feels he has
been alienated his whole life and that after losing his brother Allie, there was really no place for
him anywhere. Holden Caulfield is a complex character that is in need of... Show more content on

The last time Id eaten was those two hamburgers I had with Brossard and Ackley when we went
in to Agerstown to the movies. That was a long time ago. It seemed like fifty years ago.(105)
Although Holden is aware that he hasnt eaten in quite some time, he just hasnt felt hungry.
Holdens nutrition is just all over the place. His depression has forced him to do crazy things.
For example, after a night of drinking Holden says, I puked before I went to bed, but I didnt
really have to I forced myself.(90) This shows that Holden is hurting his body in defiantly more
ways than one. Holden is also aware that he is somewhat depressed due to his lousy feelings and
inability to eat much of anything. Holden is on a walk when he says, Id feel better if I had
something to eat. So I went in this very cheap looking restaurant and had doughnuts and coffee.
Only, I didnt eat the doughnuts. I couldnt swallow them too well. The thing is if you get very
depressed about something, its hard as hell to swallow.(196) This just goes to show that Holden
is very depressed and it effects the way he handles simple tasks such as eating. Even though he is
aware of his depression, Holden does not speak of seeing a psychiatrist for serious issues such as
his malnutrition even though he should really see one.
An obvious sign of Holdens depression is the fact that he talks of committing suicide at various
points of the novel. Every time Holden is feeling really lousy he would

Four Moral Development Theories
FOUR MORAL DEVELOPMENT THEORIES
Describe Jean Piaget s Theory of Moral Development
Jean Piaget is best known for his stage theory on moral development of children which occurs in
two distinct stages from heteronomous to autonomous and three sub stages premoral (0 to 5 years),
moral realism ( 5 to 10 years), and moral relativism (after age 10). In premoral development,
children do not think about right or wrong. In the moral realism phase, children understand right
and wrong. Lastly, in moral relativism children move from a concrete understanding of morality to
an abstract one; meaning they make decisions according to their own rules. They understand that
rules are not absolute but necessary for society to get along (Slavin Schunk, ... Show more content

In the moral domain young children know that hurting someone is wrong and such actions can have
bad effects on others. In the social domain, children deal with established rules. They know how to
act polite and when to do something nice for some one. In the psychological domain, children
understand who they are, the choices they make, and the friends they pick, and how to evaluate
people in situations.
Albert Bandura s Theory of Moral Development through Social Learning
Bandura, a Canadian psychologist, studied the moral development of children using his social
learning theory. He maintains that children learn appropriate behavior mainly by observing and
imitating others. According to this theory imitating models is the way children learn gender
appropriate behavior, learn a language, develop a moral sense and deal with aggression. Bandura
named three specific motivations (reinforcement, promised reinforcement, vicarious reinforcement)
for imitating a learned behavior (Ryan, 2011). Understanding how moral development in children
happens can help adults to focus on modeling appropriate behavior.

Ostriches Research Paper
In the research of an african ostrich there are many well known facts, and facts that could not
have been known by just looking at the animal. Many people think that the ostrich is just an
awkward looking bird, but really it is one of the most unique. It has traits that are unlike any
other birds, and it also has very saddening consequences of these very rare characteristics. The
ostrich is not as popular as it used to be; nowadays its popularity is based on the ostrich as a

What Links Theory Into Practice Within The Classroom
Introduction Methodology in EFL language teaching can be characterized in a number of ways. It
is believed that methodology is what links theory into practice within the classroom. There are
many different teaching methods that can be used in the classroom; in this essay I will compare
and contrast the traditional grammar translation method, the communicative teaching approach and
the audio lingual method and the communicative approach and how they impact in the classroom
environment. Deciding which method is best for the classroom can be difficult as each method has
its own strengths and weaknesses both on teacher and the learner, one of the teacher s most crucial
tasks is to compare and evaluate different methods they use in the classroom in order to motivate
students and to make their learning as effective as possible. The Traditional Grammar Translation
Method The Traditional Grammar Translation Method is one the most used traditional methods it
originally dates back to the 19th Century and was also used to teach languages such as Latin and
Greek so that students would develop logical thinking and have the ability to read and translate
classical texts. The Traditional Grammar Translation Method has been criticized in as to being
problematic by some advocates who claim that teaching a language should only be learned by
students through a more direct method and learned by speaking and listening to them rather than
just studying about them. Approach The approach for

Essay on Hero and Beatrice Vs. Women During the...
In William Shakespeare s play Much Ado about Nothing there are sharp contrasts between Hero
and Beatrice in comparison to women during the Shakespearean period. Hero is the typical
example of a woman during the Shakespearean period. Hero is depicted in the play as a morally
upright woman of good keep, and she seem to be a very loving and warm person in comparison
to her cousin Beatrice. However she is made out to be a whore by Claudio at her own expense
on her wedding day. Beatrice is the heroine of the play; she possesses a quick wit and a quick

When Claudio maltreats Hero on her wedding day Beatrice says that, O that I was a man for his
sake! Or that I had any friend would be a man for my sake! I cannot be a man with wishing;
therefore I will die a woman with grieving (IV.i.312 318).
At a time in the play Much ado about Nothing Claudio refers to Hero as a jewel. With this
description of Hero as a jewel it can be thought that Shakespeare is using Claudio to convey to
the audience the beauty of Hero. Shakespeare could also be explaining the way in which men
own women and the way that women are property in the eyes of Shakespearean men. Beatrice
clearly does not wish to be owned or considered property and worth of a woman. As it pertains to
worth in regards to Hero, marrying Claudio can advance her father s Leonato business endeavors.
Marrying Claudio could be seen as marrying a financial, stable, secure future for Leonato and for
Hero.
The climax of the play is when the wedding ceremony is aborted and Hero is shamed and she is
accused of disloyalty to Claudio. During the Shakespearean period women that were accused of
unfaithfulness before marriage would lose social standing, a standing that could never be improved.
This damaged social standing could ruin an entire family, therefore when Leonato buys into the fact
that Hero was disloyal to Claudio he attempts to dismiss her totally

connotation however is the hidden meaning or sub text of a symbol. The anchor ties the picture

Drunk Driving And Driving
Throughout the United States, drunk driving is responsible for 28 deaths per day and nearly
10,000 deaths per year. In some states like Utah, there is a push to lower the legal intoxication
limit from 0.08 BAC to 0.05 BAC. In Massachusetts, there is a push to get ignition interlock
devices into cars to prevent people that are under the influence of alcohol from getting behind the
wheel. Combining these two aspects to clamp down on drunk drivingwould be considered strict
enforcement of laws. There are many people that are in full support of this reduction and the use of
the ignition interlock systems. However, there are people that are trying to make a stand against
these topics. Lowering the legal intoxication limit and increasing the use of ignition interlock
systems will create a safer environment for society by saving lives, reducing crime, and increasing
overall traffic safety.
Most consumers of alcohol are unaware to the effects of driving after ingesting alcohol into their
systems. Driving impaired is one of the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States. Thats
due to the driver being impaired. To be considered an ВЁimpaired driverВЁ, a person must have a
blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher. Experts say that even at 0.08 BAC, drivers are too
impaired to get behind the wheel. The parts of the body that are affected the most by alcohol are

July 31, 2004 in 275 patients. This article is only showing one source of a study at one hospital;
however, in my research I have found that this method is recommended by doctors and nurses

methods. (American College of Physicians, August 2006) The Annals of Internal Medicine was

As a non for profit organisation the product is a service. For this campaign the service remains the
same for both households. The intangible nature and people involvement can affect the quality of
service. To avoid service dissatisfaction branding will ensure consistent communication to the
households so that emotional connections are made to initiate information searches that lead to
donations. For example, the purple and yellow colours will be used in all communication, as well as
the logo. These stimuli should trigger emotions or feelings, beliefs and behavioural intentions
towards the charity (Quester et al., 2014, p. 338). Thus, conditioning the target to think of the
charity when it sees similar colours and influence purchasing/donating behaviours. Clear brand
guidelines will also guide staff training, tone of voice and personality of the campaign.

Raskolikov s Theory In Crime And Punishment
Dostoevsky s novel Crime and Punishment analyzes a provocative theory constructed by the
main character, Raskolnikov. His theory divides ordinary and extraordinary people. According to
Raskolnikov, ordinary people have no opinion of their own, being just mere followers, while
extraordinary people craft new opinions for the society. Extraordinary people are prone to
greatness, being therefore justified to act in any way in order to achieve it, even if it means to kill
or steal. An interesting example Raskolnikov makes is:

criminals, from the fact alone that in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory can also be applied to Patrick SUskind s novel Perfume, more precisely to the main
character, Grenouille. Ironically, if Raskolnikov was not able to live up to his own theory and prove
to be an extraordinary individual, Grenouille becomes one without realizing it. I will further on
expand my argument by investigating Grenouille s motive, technique of conducting the killings and
his relation to guilt.
Grenouille s unique gift allows him to understand the world in a way that no one else can. He
never forgets a scent by labeling them in his palace of odor and by constantly combining them in
the most beautiful ways. Moreover, he knows that attraction is based on scent ... this scent will
be ripened and take on a gravity that no one, man or woman, will be able to escape. People will be
overwhelmed, disarmed, helpless before the magic of this girl, and they will not know why

Abstract:
The main purpose of this experiment was to purify the steroid hormone, Cholesterol, by
Bromination. This process was achieved by the electrophilic addition reaction to a natural product
(Cholesterol dibromide). After adding the designated amount of the white powdered cholesterol and
the reddish brown solution of bromine to the Erlenmeyer flask, the mixture turned to a bright yellow
color then it was chilled in an ice water bath, allowing crystals to form. Finally, the vacuum

nuclear weapons, hopes for an international treaty halting proliferation by the new millennium.
Already, more than 110 states of the Non Aligned Movement have called for the elimination of
nuclear weaponry by the next century. Several countries have given up their nuclear arms in hopes
of promoting worldwide peace. Activist groups affiliated with Abolition 2050 are working to make

In the first piece Concertino, John Cacavas starts the piece in the key of D major with a catchy

the cellos and basses have a very short and lifted part. The musicians do an outstanding job of
keeping the staccato light and not adding any unnecessary weight to the note. The higher strings
are covered up by the lower strings, the ensemble needs to work slightly on their balance to one

brighter, more powerful tone of the high strings. The articulation and intonation were very clear,

Situation Synopsis: Competitors have developed different approaches to attract consumers in the
online dating market; some of which have been copying eHarmony s product features and using
alternative strategies to attract singles.

to a firms performance within this industry. eHarmony possesses the highest membership fees in
the industry along with particularly high barriers to join. Even their direct competitors; Match and
Yahoo! Personals differ from eHarmony in that they have much lower barriers to join as well as
lower sign up fees. Most of their indirect competitors are free and have little to no barriers to join.

Alain Lockes Who And What Is The Negro
With the exception of Native Americans, there is no race of people that originated in America.
Yet today, we all come together under the colors of red, white and blue, sing the National Anthem
and call ourselves quot;Americans quot;. Despite our differences in religion, norms, values,
national origins, our pasts, and our creeds, we all combine under one common denominator. Alain
Locke addresses this issue of cultural pluralism in his article, quot;Who and What is `Negro ?
quot; In this article, Locke states that, quot; There is, in brief, no `The Negro . quot; By this, he
means that blacks are not a uniform and unchanging body of people. He emphasizes that we, as
Americans, need to mentally mature to a point where we do not view... Show more content on

And by using the terms quot;internal splits quot; and quot;environmental conditioning quot;,
Locke is possibly referring to intra racial racism, such as the long standing conflict between light
and dark skinned blacks or the conflict between the black middle class and the black working
class. Locke uses all these points to exemplify that blacks do not represent a consistent entity, but a
diverse and varying group of people.
Locke furthers this argument by using even more examples if diversity within the black race. Using
different types of Judaism as an comparative example, Locke proceeds to refer to many different
strains of black people quot;...the conformist and non conformist strains, the conformist elite and
the racialist elite, the lily white and the race patriotic bourgeoisie, the folk and the ghetto peasant
and the emerging Negro proletariat. quot; These all represent types of black people. He is
speaking of the blacks who conform to white norms versus those who don t, the rich who conform
versus those who don t, the middle class blacks who pretend they are white versus those who are
proud of their race, and

Designing An Effective Advertising Poster Campaign For A...
The task was to create an effective advertising poster campaign for a specific film genre. I chose
the horror genre as I am very interested in the way they are put together and how they create an
eerie atmosphere by the technical codes (e.g. camera shots). For the primary research I created a
questionnaire that looked at all the different aspects used to create a successful horror poster. I
based my questionnaire around three different posters that were in the sub genre that I wanted to
research, so I could see how effective the techniques were to the targeted audience. The movies
were; Dark Skies, The Blair Witch Project and Haunt. I asked specific questions about the camera
shots and the colour schemes used in the posters. The data collected from the questionnaire helped
me identify the most effective aspects of the horror posters. 90% of my sample said that they found
a dark and gritty colour scheme (generally black, grey, dirty white and blood reds) very effective as
it represented the horror genre correctly . Another very effective technique was a contrast between
light and shadow. The audience found this effective because it created a dark and unsettling
atmosphere throughout the poster . Everyone who completed the questionnaire said that this also
complemented the eeriness of the overall product. The questionnaire helped me identify the most
prominent part of the posters. All participants who filled out the form said that the main image on
the poster was the

Regulatory Requirements Of The Pharmaceutical Industry Us,...
In order for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies to market their biologics and drugs,
companies must receive approval from their respective regulatory authority. The three global
leaders in the pharmaceutical industry US, EU, and Japan all have their own regulatory
authorities. Each have their advantages and disadvantages and as a regulatory representative.
Though there is a push to harmonize regulatory requirements at a global scale for the past 20
years development and approval of global guidelines has had drawbacks in approving drugs at a
globally. The high regulatory uncertainty is considered as a major barrier for efficient
development of safe and effective biological therapies, hence deterring entry for large
multinational pharmaceutical companies to develop innovative biological products at a global
level.1 For a biotechnology company it can be difficult to chose which market to seek the
regulatory approval for first and many questions come to mind for which country will be
beneficial for market approval. Personally as a regulatory affairs professional I would seek
approval in the US due to the comprehensive history and development of the food and drug
administration and the acceptance of the regulatory pathway at a global scale. Also the EU and US
regulatory systems are more similar than different, and due to recent steps in harmonization from
both regulatory regimes in scientific testing standards and clinical trials, it can make it more
efficient to

Silver Linings Playbook By Matthew Quick
I decided to review Silver Linings Playbook , which is based on a romantic comedy novel
written by Matthew Quick. It was produced in 2012 by The Weinstein, starring Bradley Cooper
and Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro. This film, directed by David O. Russell, takes place
in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where former teacher Pat Solitano Jr. (Bradley Cooper) is released
after 8 months of hospitalization by his mother Delores (2012). Due to living with bipolar
disorder with mood swings, Pat has anger outbursts if not managed properly. After finding his wife
cheating and after brutally beating the man with her, Pat was committed where he was closely
watched and given treatment such as medication (that could be spit out easily). With the court s
consent, Pat was let out to live with his parents, however, he must in return continue to see a
therapist, take medication, and stay away from this wife Nikki. Pat struggles to transition to a new
lifestyle with his parents and without Nikki. Despite the disapproving comments from his family

Fundamental Fury Essay
Fundamental Fury is one of the most thrilling and breathtaking rides you will ever experience.
Anyone who loves a fast roller coaster will be sure to love Fundamental Fury. In contrast to most
coasters, Fundamental Fury has a fast, technologically advanced, hydraulic launch at the beginning
of the ride, accelerating the coaster to over 250 km/h in a time of just 5 seconds. Fundamental Fury
is themed to fundamental particles and how violent they can be when they interact with each other.
During the ride, the coaster trains pass very close to other sections of the track, further emphasizing
the extreme and thrilling nature of the ride. Foliage surrounding the ride is mainly comprised of
tall and dense evergreen trees. Contrary to most roller... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although fundamental particles, such as quarks and leptons, make up everything in the entire
universe, they are of little knowledge to the public. Absence of public recognition and interest is
one of the major reasons Fundamental Fury is themed the way it is. Color is a scientific term used
to describe different types of subatomic particles, and Fundamental Fury incorporates this concept
into the color of the roller coaster tracks. The launch track is colored a bright cyan, while the rest
of the roller coaster is colored a vibrant purple chroma. Dense evergreen trees surround many
elements of the ride, providing a beautiful backdrop that contrasts nicely with the ride. Onlookers
can watch the roller coaster train appear and disappear as it weaves through the frondescence. Since
evergreen trees are naturally very thick, they act as excellent sound barriers, sparing nearby people
from the roar of the hydraulic launch. Walkways adjacent to Fundamental Fury have large displays
showcasing what the ride experience is like, along with fun facts about science and fundamental
particles. A number of science related booths surround the ride, significantly enriching the ride
experience for anyone interested in how and why things

Dylan Klebold Assassination
The morning of April 20th, 1999 was one that will never be forgotten. The day started off as what
was supposed to be a normal day in Jefferson County, Colorado, for the students attending
Columbine High School. Students were piling into the school, chatting with their friends, waiting
for their classes to start. Nobody expected what would happen next. At approximately 11:19 AM,
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, students of Columbine High School, began to open fire at students,
teachers, and finally took the lives of themselves around 12:00 PM. The shooters of Columbine,
Eric Harris, and Dylan Klebold s, mental states led them to plan out, and to kill 13 people, and
themselves, on the morning of April 20th, 1999. Eric Harris was born on April... Show more content

in the cafeteria, Eric Harris turned the gun on himself and shot him in the head. When Dylan saw
what he had done, he then killed himself. Dylan Klebold did not suffer from any mental illnesses

no warning signs. He was in a mental state that influenced his attack, with the help of his friend Eric

Fifty Shades Darker Analysis
Dakota Johnson of Fifty Shades Darker is believed to be angry with her stepfather Antonio
Banderas. Johnson supposedly blames former stepfather Antonio for her mom Melanie Griffith s
condition. Recently, Melanie is reported to be in a depression mode due to his ex husband Banderas.
According to the reports, Dakota was much annoyed with Antonio from the very beginning, since
he dumped her mom Melanie in the year 2014 for dating someone else. It has also been disclosed
that she is furious at Banderas for choosing someone who is so much younger than Griffith. The
22 years younger woman Nicole Kempel who is a Dutch investment banker is reported to be the
current partner of the 58 year old Spanish born Desperado actor Antonio Banderas. According to
reports, Dakota thinks of Banderas as a selfish man who is trying to recapture his youth. Johnson
further states that, it is Antonio s fault for which, her mom Melanie is slowly immersing deeper
into depression. She was much more worried about her mother, since her self esteem is non existent.

The couple had split due to Melanie s substance abuse. Perhaps, it s time Melanie to go to a

another, like from Kempel and now to Sarah Ferguson. Now, it s time for Melanie Griffith to
move on as well. All these seems to be distracting Dakota during her filming of Fifty Shades
Darker and creating a lot of trouble for Dakota Johnson while she is filming as Anastasia Steele for
the movie Fifty Shades

Do Males and Females Communicate with each other in different ways?
В…I do not give you the right to raise your voice to me because you are woman and I am manВ…
(Tannen p 23) This statement is offensive to both men and women alike. Yet it is a true, telling
statement as well. This one sentence shows us that in many countries, including the U.S., a
patriarchal society creates a hierarchal push and pull between the genders, creating a very large gap
in communication. This assertion also brings up some important questions: Are males and females
merely people with different sexual organs? Or is it how we are raised which makes us
communicate differently? Does mass media attribute to societal inequalities? Or is our culture to

Men often have larger salaries than women. In 2001, the median earnings of women full time
were $29,215, whereas men working full time earned $38,275. (Macionis p 335) According to a
recent survey, the top earners in Fortune 500 corporations include 2,162 men and only 93 women.
(Macionis p 333) Males are found in jobs where power is the main focus, police work, politics, and
sales. While women often take the nurturing roles of teaching, secretarial, or childcare. How can
men and women communicate in the same way, when gender roles are completely different?
Sexism is also a large issue for many women in the workplace. Most companies have
strict sexual harassment policies in effect, yet the abuse of women is still widespread. Based on a
1994 study performed by the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board, woman were sexually harassed
by sexual teasing, jokes, remarks, or questions on more than one occasion, 27 times to a mans 10
times. The masculine left brain function is primarily associated with logic, numeracy, abstraction,

and is connected to intuition. It is both creative and nurturing, and is holistic in viewing things in
an all at once fashion. (Selvarajah, PhD, Asoka)

The Intel Trinity, By Michael S. Malone
The Intel trinity is the story of three visionaries with a dysfunctional relationship and principle that
bound them together to aid constant innovation that resulted in the world s most important
company Intel , which for more than four decades after its launch has been a defining company of
the global digital economy. The author Michael S. Malone s talks about the company that is
fearlessly innovative, wildly competitive and boundlessly visionary, soaring to success and
changing the industry. Based on an exceptional access to the corporation s archives, The Intel
Trinity is a full history of Intel Corporationtold through the lives of the three most important figures
in the company s history: Robert Noyce, Gordon Moore, and Andy Grove. The legendary inventors
of the microprocessor, which was the single most important product in the modern world. Intel
today builds the tiny devices that power almost every intelligent electronic device in use today.
However, the sincere takeaway of Intel is the human story of the trio of geniuses behind it. Malone
in the book reveals how each brought different phenomena to Intel, and at different times. Robert
Noyce, the most respected and influential person of Silicon Valley of his generation, brought
credibility the company s formation; Moore made Intel the world s technological leader; and
Grove, has fiercely driven the company to great levels of success and competitiveness. Without
these legends Intel would never have achieved

Essay about The Impact of Divorce on Children
The Impact of Divorce on Children
Divorce is the dissolution of a marriage that affects numerous people around the world. Divorce
can be a heartbreaking process that affects not just the couple but their children also. I am going to
be comparing the impact of divorce on children in context to Bronfenbrenner s ecological theory.
Individual
The individual in this context is the child that is affected by the divorce of their parents. Studies
show that divorce can affect a child s social skills (Kim, 2011). Research shows that gender is a
factor and that girls tend to be more sensitive then boys about parental divorce (Brockmeyer,
Crowell, Treboux, 2009). Another factor is the health of the child. Divorce has an affect on the

(2) Personality is a system of traits that decides individual qualities (Cobb, 2014a). The three main
factors that influence personality are birth order, temperament, and personality type (book p 169,
lecture in text). Personality develops by different experiences that the child goes through (Cobb,
2014a). Many different things affect an individual s personality (Cobb, 2014a). There are different
personality types that come from our personality preferences (Bristor, 2010).
A child s personality could be affected by their parents divorce. One trait of personality is if the
child is an extrovert or introvert. An extrovert likes to be with their friends and makes friends
easily. An introvert is shy and quiet. Traumatic experiences like divorce could make a child s self
esteem go down and cause them to be more shy and quiet. Another outcome could be if the child
was shy and quiet before the divorce may make them seek friends.
Microsystem
The microsystem in Bronfenbrenner s theory is the child s immediate environment (Bristor, 2010).
There are multiple microsystems in the child s life from their friends in school to the church group
that they belong to. Family relationships are important but with divorce an individual may turn to
outside relationships, like their peers instead of family (Robbers et al., 2012). When the child s
parents divorce they split up their household into two separate

Introduction :
In 1949, Sidney Farber, M.D., a pathologist and a clinician formed a theory that folic acid is

Methotrexate formerly known as amethopterin is an antimetaboliteand dermatologically it is FDA

The Role Of Terrorism In The United States
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines terrorism as, the use of violent acts to frighten the
people in an area as a way of trying to achieve a political goal (Terrorism, n.d.). The various
definitions of terrorism are typically close in comparison but can carry a slightly different tone
when used by a government for purposes of the law.
The U.S. State Department is guided by the definition of terrorism contained in Title 22 of the US
Code, Section 2656f(d), which states that terrorism is a premeditated, politically motivated violence
perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually
intended to influence an audience (Maniscalco, Christen, 2011).
Furthermore, the term terrorism is defined by the Federal Bureau of Investigations in the code of
Federal Regulations as the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to
intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance
of political or social segment thereof in furtherance of political or social objectives (Maniscalco,
Christen, 2011). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The increased use of temporary, part time and seasonal workers and the increased hiring of
exempt employee through employment contracts. Employers are reducing cost and enhance
flexibility by meeting the minimal staffing requirements through permanent employees and
hiring temporary, seasonal and part time workers to meet peak workload( these positions are
usually low paid, no benefit and are fired at will employees), which requires minimal skills, and
when skills are required such jobs are contracted out to avoid save money . Exempt positions
means funds must be available before such positions are filled, they are not classified within the
civil service system, the terms and conditions of these positions are specified through a contract
listing pay and benefits and limiting the terms of employment, they can be fired at will in the event
of a change in management or disagreement, this also means contract can be renewed or denied.
This managerial flexibility allows for agencies to reduce their overhead expenses without having to
deal with civil service regulations and collective bargaining and union issues.
2.Change in role of HR administration In the civil service system the role of the HR administrator
is technical, record keeping and processing personnel issues but the alternative personnel system
have brought about a change in the job description of an administrator in that he is now involved in
brokering of deals and mediating of conflicts among competing personnel systems.

Heker used third person limited point of view to make the surprise bigger for us and it lets us
experience it the way Rosaura is. It also makes the story more exciting because we only know
what Rosaura is thinking and we only know what she is feeling not what her mother is feeling or

A reason for using third person limited point of view is to have a bigger surprise in the story at

  • 5. Difference between Greek and Modern Theatres The Difference between Greek and Modern theatres Kimberly Legaspi February 25th, 2013 Word count: 1478 Difference between Greek and Modern Theatres Theatre today as in ancient Greek times is a popular form of entertainment. Today s theatres share many similarities with the Greek predecessors however they are also very different. There are in fact many differences for example; layout, special effects, seating arrangement, the importance of drama and religion, setting, location and architectural features. In ancient Greece festivals were mainly held at the Great Dionysia. This was the oldest theatre in Greece and many plays were performed here for example the first performance of Antigone. The patron of the theatre was the God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today special effects in modern theatres are taken for granted by the audiences. Flashing lights, smoke, electronic sound and even microphones for actors were all not available to the ancient Greeks. In ancient times there special effects included; cranes for lifting actors into the air and ekkyklema (a trolley used to roll on stage via the central doors to carry away dead bodies. Many of these effects are not used to today as modern audiences want the play to be as realistic as possible and many of these effects would not achieve this. But today they still use wires in order to make actors appear to be flying; this is similar to the machine but more advanced to do modern technologies. At the back of the ancient Greek theatre stood the skene . The word skene means stage building. The skene was a wooden building where the actors could change and this building could also be used for as a house or temple or any other part of scenery (Gill). At the front of the skene there was a large double door for the actors to make their entrance. Actors could also enter through the parados if they were acting as characters from foreign lands or who had just arrived (University Press Inc). There were three areas where the actors could act; the platform in front of the stage building, the orchestra and the roof of the stage building. The roof of the stage building was often ... • 6. Barnet Fair Essay Vyse At Barnet Fair Vyse s next figure group represents that leisurely period of England s history before the onset of WWII. The locations of the Barnet Horse Fair has changed over time, and eventually it moved to a field near field by Barnet Lane in 1934. The horse fair was held in the field adjacent to the pleasure fair. With his At Barnet Fair (Fig. 121), Vyse revisits a much favoured subject the gypsy mother and her child. Of all the Vyses gypsy subjects, this figure group is the most sought after, and more especially by male collectors, and its comparative rarity, is of course an additional factor. It is not known exactly how many editions were produced, but the group became a sure fire winner with the Vyse figure aficionados of North America. That aside,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the prospect of Walker s Galleries end of year sale in mind, Vyse acceded to this exceptional demand. From the carefully stored piece moulds, he cast a new edition of the 1927 figure group. Possibly, the leather hard clay parts proved problematic to assemble, or possibly the number of piece moulds too excessive. For whatever the reason, he decided an adjustment to the composition would to facilitate the assembly of the clay parts. The main points of diversion between the two models, is the noticeable replacement of the head, and the right arm, and of course the hawk. There has also been some adjustment to the back legs of the donkey. In the remodelling, Vyse has injected liveliness to the composition, giving the subject s posture more upright attitude. There are other, numerous small modelling differences, and to name a few obvious changes: the subject s drapery and left gauntlet, the donkey s mane, the altered mallard ducks. The cantered rectangular base, has been remodelled to represent a flower strewn a bank, this is now shallower than in the original ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Zeffirelli Vs Branagh Hamlet is one of Shakespeare s most well known and most frequently performed plays. Many people have enjoyed reading and watching hamlet, both on stage and theatrically. Directors often add different styles to their pieces to invoke different moods. These styles change as time progresses; predominant in the comparison between Franco Zeffirelli s and Kenneth Branaghs direction of William Shakespeares Hamletact 3 scene 1. Zeffirelli s interpretation of Shakespeare s Hamlet act 3 scene 1 is more effective than Branagh s interpretation. Zeffirelli centralizes the play around a dark setting and dark clothing style which puts emphasis on the sadness certain characters are facing. Whereas Branagh uses more vibrant colors in clothing style and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Branagh s use of setting is not as effective as other cinematic depictions of the play, as it does not fully enlighten the sad mood. Branagh s style of direction takes away the sad mood. To begin, Branagh uses a colorful setting to take away the emphasis on the surrounding sadness, while maintaining a sad mood. In Branagh s version his portrayal of the setting during the interaction between Hamlet and Ophelia captures the sad mood. Branagh captures Hamlets movement through an array of rare emotion as he takes in Ophelia s words. When Hamlet and Ophelia first see each other, happy music and warm light and bright setting create a light, triumphant mood that showcases their deep love. The statement I did love you once (3.1.14) is spoken with tears in his eyes that capture Hamlet s love. When Ophelia s returns the tokens Hamlet shows his feelings of betrayal and all of his emotions shift as he grapples at understanding. As Hamlet s anger rises, the music shifts to match it. This interpretation suggests that with deep love comes the ability to hurt each other deeply. Shortly after Ophelia s sorrowful speech helps aid in developing a sad mood. The use of setting is not as effective as other depiction of the scene yet it prevails in its intention of creating a sad mood. Next, the setting during Hamlet s soliloquy is what establishes a sad mood. Branagh s makes Hamlet speaks his soliloquy steadily in a large room filled with mirrors. Mirrors are often used to suggest self reflection and clarity. It is ironic Branagh s emotionally susceptible Hamlet is associated with an item of reflection and clarity. Branagh s Hamlet does not shift from suicidal to contemplative at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However the Invisible Man observes others in the book that manifest this metaphor in a psychological sense. The concept of blindness is a reoccurring theme in the book that serves to control the blacks. Reverend Barbee s sermon is the first encounter involving symbolic blindness. The sermon reinforces the values of the school, which give the impression that blacks have the opportunity to gain true equality if they work hard enough. Barbee tells the story of the founder of the school. Barbee regards the Founder as a god of sorts, whose ideology should be trusted completely, like a religion. The sermon declares that the Founder s ideology and life represent a universal example that should be followed. Interestingly enough, Barbee is physically blind and therefore displays how this ideology is followed blindly. This serves to pigeon hole the efforts of the students at the college, keeping them in control, further emulating this marionette metaphor. Although at this point in the book the Invisible Man does not yet realize it, this is his first encounter with this metaphor in a psychological sense. Comparing The Book Of Ruth And 1 Kings 1-11 In this threaded discussion board you will use your analytical skills to compare and contrast the book of Ruth to the end of Solomon s reign found in 1 Kings 1 11. It is important to look at these two sections of scripture as bookends . Then, use your interpretative skills to explain the significance of these two sections of scripture A big difference in the book of Ruth and 1 Kings is the origin of the main characters. Ruth is a Moabite woman from outside the Promised Land. Her upbringing most likely did not involve learning or following the covenants of God. Her exposure to God most likely came from Naomi, Naomi s husband and Naomi s son. But considering this family initially left the Promised Land for a different life we can only speculate how faithful to God this family may have been. Solomon was King David s son raised in the knowledge of God and his covenants. Solomon may have even had first hand experience with his father praying to God. A similarity between the two characters is their uncommon placement into their situation. Ruth was a foreigner to Israel, brought to Israel by her devotion to her mother in law and God s divine intervention. Had she not met this family in Moab, she would have never ... • 15. Corruption Of Youth In Plato s Apology Today s society is completely controlled by technology, the news, and social media. So much of what people learn is from the news. It is so easy for someone to go on their computer in the morning, pull up CNN, and read about what is going on in the world. The only problem with this is that CNN can put whatever they desire on their website and portray to their readers their bias. The most impressionable of these people is the youthof the world. Younger children are the most impressionable people on the planet, and with social media they are being exposed to the opinions of the world at such a young age. Social media makes information available at the touch of your fingertips. All it takes is logging on to a computer and searching whatever you want to read about. Also, celebrities act ridiculously and become a bad influence on young kids who looked up to them. In Platos Apology an example of the corruptionof youth it discussed. Socrates corrupts the youth by telling them his unorthodox ideas that differ from the rest of the society, and in response the other members of the society claim that Socrates is poisoning the minds of the youth. The corruption of youth in Plato s Apology is drastically different than how the youth are corrupted today, and through social media, the news, and how celebrities act the youth of today become more corrupted. • 16. Leviathan By Thomas Hobbes Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes was written in 1651 to publish the political thoughts of Hobbes and promote his negative view to human nature. The story is interesting, because of the fact that even though it was written four hundred years ago, it can still be applied to society today. Leviathan consists of many sections promoting Hobbes beliefs, but the section in Perry s textbook is about the misinterpretation of equality of mankind. Hobbes wrote this to explain to the population the selfishness of humanity and to rid the world of power and corruption. However, Hobbes does not see much of a chance for humanity to actually treat each other equally. Instead, he splits the disagreements of mankind into three categories, first, competition; secondly, diffidence; thirdly, glory (21).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our natural instinct as humans is to become and want to become as powerful as we possibly can. He attributes this attribute to our desire for gain and to be the master of other people as well. It is easy to see this attribute in our world leaders like the President of the United States or any of the other leaders of the many countries on our planet. Another area of our society that this attribute of gain and selfishness, especially in the United States, is in the corporate world. Many of our powerful business leaders are driven by great and power over others, and this drive only proves Hobbes point about the naturally selfish nature of humanity. Looking back at the 1600, Hobbes time, the drive for man to compete was very relevant in leadership positions of countries. Heavy elements, however, are formed such as uranium and iron are formed through Stellar Nucleosynthesis while materials heavier than this are formed through a supernova. Soon after the big bang the cosmic dust as well as gases combined and cooled off together to form stars. The nuclear fusion in stars converts hydrogen into helium and is a continuous process in the stars until hydrogen runs out at the core of the star. When hydrogen runs out, helium atoms fuse to form carbon atoms. Massive stars can synthesize heavier elements such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ionic bonds, on the other hand, occur when two metals completely transfer electrons between them. Hydrogen has only one electron that goes to the lowest energy orbital hence its electronic structure is 1s1. Carbon, on the other hand, has six electrons hence the electronic structure is 1s22s22px12py1. Alkanes are formed through atomic bonds formed between carbon and hydrogen. For example, methane, CH4 has a tetrahedral shape based on the four atoms bonding with the central carbon atom. Each hydrogen atom contributes one electron equivalent to one C H bond but still, there are still 2p orbitals in the carbon atom with unpaired electrons. Four equivalent bonds are needed so the atomic wave functions for the 2s and three 2porbitals come together to form new molecular wave functions and new molecular orbitals. His writing reflected his trouble with relating to women and his tendency to treat them as objects, as he had four marriages and countless affairs, highlighting his theme of alienation and disconnection. Now here is why he is what he is by writing about what he was. Ernest Miller Hemingway was born on July 21, 1899, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Dr. Clarence Hemingway and Grace Hall Hemingway. His first day on the job, a munitions factory exploded and he had to carry the bodies and body parts of the women who worked in the factory to a makeshift morgue. Only a few weeks later, as he was distributing chocolate and cigarettes to Italian soldiers in the trenches near the front lines, Hemingway was seriously wounded by fragments from an Austrian mortar shell which had landed only a few feet away. Hemingway claimed, despite over 200 pieces of shrapnel being lodged in his legs and being shot in the legs several times, he managed to carry a wounded soldier back to the Schlusemeyer 3 first aid station. For this feat, he was awarded the Silver Medal for Valor by the Italian government. Because of his tendency to exaggerate his heroism in telling of his own feats, however, some believe that Hemingway may have changed some details about the event in retelling it or fabricated it altogether (Rozkis 235). The first known settlers of the island were a tribe of Arawak natives called the Caiquetios. These people were initially located on the South American mainland, and it is assumed that the Caiquetios migrated from Venezuela to Aruba. Due to its lack of natural resources, it can be assumed that Aruba was merely a stopover for a succession of tribes. They were a peaceful people, living under the guidance of a shaman or priest, who also served as the village chief. Some natives were brought to Spain s other islands, such as Hispaniola, to work as slaves, while others were converted to Christianity. Before long, however, the island became a concealed hide away for pirates and buccaneers who preyed on ships transporting New World goods back to Europe. • 20. A Stakeholder Management Model For Ethical Decision Making It is important for a business to balance all the different stakeholders that a company might have. Some stakeholders might have different priorities than others. For example, some shareholders expect the business to give them only money while others stakeholders need good working conditions. Also, investors might wish to see proof that the company responds to environmental matters before promising money to a business. In addition, problems might happen when stakeholders compromise to the expectation of other stakeholders. The difference priorities of stakeholders can come into place when organizations have to come up with a decision, they have to decide which stakeholders should be prioritized. When beginning the dialogue with a specific stakeholder group, the management should explain from the beginning what the intended objectives of the dialogue are. Conversely, sales are only one bit of the entire marketing process. In order to comprehend the idea, it is crucial to understand the marketing mix. Prior to a business choosing to launch an item into the business sector there are variables and components that should be considered. Variables in marketingare considered part of the marketing mix that is set up before the advertising program begins which thus characterizes the four factors known as the four Ps . The variables in advertising will decide the components of the item and how the purchaser or client sees the item. The four Ps consist of product, price, promotion, and place. For instance, Victoria s Secret a very well known company covering a wide variety of products such as women sleepwear, swimsuits, clothing, underwear and cosmetics uses the marketing mix to their advantage. Their most recent inventive step that the company made was the presentation of a line called PINK. The line was launched with the point of growing the essential target market which included young women in their mid 20s. Four Moral Development Theories FOUR MORAL DEVELOPMENT THEORIES Describe Jean Piaget s Theory of Moral Development Jean Piaget is best known for his stage theory on moral development of children which occurs in two distinct stages from heteronomous to autonomous and three sub stages premoral (0 to 5 years), moral realism ( 5 to 10 years), and moral relativism (after age 10). In premoral development, children do not think about right or wrong. In the moral realism phase, children understand right and wrong. Lastly, in moral relativism children move from a concrete understanding of morality to an abstract one; meaning they make decisions according to their own rules. They understand that rules are not absolute but necessary for society to get along (Slavin Schunk, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the moral domain young children know that hurting someone is wrong and such actions can have bad effects on others. In the social domain, children deal with established rules. They know how to act polite and when to do something nice for some one. In the psychological domain, children understand who they are, the choices they make, and the friends they pick, and how to evaluate people in situations. Albert Bandura s Theory of Moral Development through Social Learning Bandura, a Canadian psychologist, studied the moral development of children using his social learning theory. He maintains that children learn appropriate behavior mainly by observing and imitating others. According to this theory imitating models is the way children learn gender appropriate behavior, learn a language, develop a moral sense and deal with aggression. Bandura named three specific motivations (reinforcement, promised reinforcement, vicarious reinforcement) for imitating a learned behavior (Ryan, 2011). Understanding how moral development in children happens can help adults to focus on modeling appropriate behavior. It is believed that methodology is what links theory into practice within the classroom. There are many different teaching methods that can be used in the classroom; in this essay I will compare and contrast the traditional grammar translation method, the communicative teaching approach and the audio lingual method and the communicative approach and how they impact in the classroom environment. Deciding which method is best for the classroom can be difficult as each method has its own strengths and weaknesses both on teacher and the learner, one of the teacher s most crucial tasks is to compare and evaluate different methods they use in the classroom in order to motivate students and to make their learning as effective as possible. The Traditional Grammar Translation Method The Traditional Grammar Translation Method is one the most used traditional methods it originally dates back to the 19th Century and was also used to teach languages such as Latin and Greek so that students would develop logical thinking and have the ability to read and translate classical texts. In marketing management there is a lack of communication between the two departments, marketing and sales. As learned in the chapter, the marketing department is responsible for developing a firm s marketing strategy. This strategy includes decisions on how to promote, distribute, and price the products (Stanton 45). The marketing department relies on the salespeople to determine the dependability. It is vital that the salespeople communicate the marketing strategy. If something is not selling, letting the marketing department know will allow them to make decisions and changes to the strategy. The orchestras began the concert with Concertino by John Cacavas. The next piece that the orchestras performed was Prelude for String Orchestra by Gerald Finzi. The last piece that the Allen High School Sinfonia performed was Allegro from Sinfonia No. 6 in G minor by Johann Christian Bach. In the first piece Concertino, John Cacavas starts the piece in the key of D major with a catchy intro that leads smoothly into the rest of the piece. The violins and violas have the melody while the cellos and basses have a very short and lifted part. The musicians do an outstanding job of keeping the staccato light and not adding any unnecessary weight to the note. The higher strings are covered up by the lower strings, the ensemble needs to work slightly on their balance to one another. The bass and cello have a very dark and almost brooding tone that sharply contrasts the brighter, more powerful tone of the high strings. The articulation and intonation were very clear, making the piece very musical. The cello soloist played very well; however, the higher strings dominated the soloist s volume making it harder to hear the actual solo. All instruments return to using a full bow with violins ... I chose the horror genre as I am very interested in the way they are put together and how they create an eerie atmosphere by the technical codes (e.g. camera shots). For the primary research I created a questionnaire that looked at all the different aspects used to create a successful horror poster. I based my questionnaire around three different posters that were in the sub genre that I wanted to research, so I could see how effective the techniques were to the targeted audience. The movies were; Dark Skies, The Blair Witch Project and Haunt. I asked specific questions about the camera shots and the colour schemes used in the posters. The data collected from the questionnaire helped me identify the most effective aspects of the horror posters. 90% of my sample said that they found a dark and gritty colour scheme (generally black, grey, dirty white and blood reds) very effective as it represented the horror genre correctly . Another very effective technique was a contrast between light and shadow. The audience found this effective because it created a dark and unsettling atmosphere throughout the poster . Everyone who completed the questionnaire said that this also complemented the eeriness of the overall product. The questionnaire helped me identify the most prominent part of the posters. The high regulatory uncertainty is considered as a major barrier for efficient development of safe and effective biological therapies, hence deterring entry for large multinational pharmaceutical companies to develop innovative biological products at a global level.1 For a biotechnology company it can be difficult to chose which market to seek the regulatory approval for first and many questions come to mind for which country will be beneficial for market approval. Personally as a regulatory affairs professional I would seek approval in the US due to the comprehensive history and development of the food and drug administration and the acceptance of the regulatory pathway at a global scale. Divorce can be a heartbreaking process that affects not just the couple but their children also. There are different personality types that come from our personality preferences (Bristor, 2010). A child s personality could be affected by their parents divorce. Another outcome could be if the child was shy and quiet before the divorce may make them seek friends.
