Essay about Communication Process
Communication Process
Introduction
Communication establishes relationships and makes organizing possible. Every message has a purpose or objective. The sender intends ––
whether consciously or unconsciously –– to accomplish something by communicating. In organizational contexts, messages typically have a
definite objective: to motivate, to inform, to teach, to persuade, to entertain, or to inspire. This definite purpose is, in fact, one of the principal
differences between casual conversation and managerial communication. Effective communication in the organization centers on well–defined
objectives that support the organization's goals and mission. Supervisors strive to achieve understanding among parties to their...show more

Message: What is it? A ?message? is the information that the sender wants to transmit. These messages have an attached meaning that may be
interpreted differently by different people. It consists of verbal and nonverbal symbols that have been developed to convey meaning to the
receiver. For e.g. as a sender, the supervisor should define the purpose of the message, construct each message with the receiver in mind.
Encoding: It is the process of translating the intended meaning into symbols (which includes words and gestures). The person who gets the
thought or idea feels the need for communication. In the initial stage when idea is formed, it is encoded. After that encoded idea takes the shape
of message and send to communicate by using proper media. After receiving the message it is analyzed and interpreted by communication.
Channel: The medium/channel is the means of communication or a way to convey the message, such as print, mass, electrical, and digital.
Factors to consider when selecting a medium include relative speed, cost, convenience, intelligibility, timing, feedback options, and
documentation. It is very important to choose the appropriate medium for a particular message, as this will highly influence the feedback process.
Receiver: The receiver is the person with whom the message is exchanged. Just as information regarding the object or event was

Communication Theories Essay
In interpersonal communication there are many theories that are similar yet different in many ways. The theories can be combined to describe
people and how those people interact and communicate with each other. Many of these theories help explain how people in society form
impressions of others, how they maintain these impressions, why people interact with certain people in society, and how people will use these
impressions that they have formed later on in life. These theories also help people to better understand themselves, to better understand
interpersonal communication, and to better understand people in general. There are two theories in interpersonal communication that, despite
their differences, can go hand in hand. The first is...show more content...
213). As a whole, society tends to mirror the emotions of the person who is speaking or of the person who is playing a part. If a person goes
to a play and the actors are experiencing fear, than the people who are watching the play will tend to experience that same fear. If one actor is
mad at another actor, than the people watching the play will either experience that same emotion of anger or they will side with the other actor
and experience the emotion that the other actor is feeling, whether it be uncertainty about why the other actor is mad at them or a feeling of
sadness because the other actor is mad at them. Imitating others emotions happens all the time in society and as long as there is communication
between people, whether it is verbal or nonverbal, this catching of emotions will continue.
The interaction adaptation theory and the emotional contagion theory both have similarities and differences, just like any other set of theories.
Both of these theories suggest that people adapt to people who are around them and whom they interact with. These two theories allow people to
mirror those with whom they communicate with. These theories go hand in hand because when you are communicating with someone and
mirroring their actions and behaviors, it is hard to not mirror their emotions. If someone is sad and decides to talk to someone about their problem,

written communication Essay
INTRODUCTION.
"Man is an animal that lives in language as a fish lives in water and so written communication is just one of the ways that man can survive
through" (English scholar Annie Dillard). Writing is a skill to give information. Like all skills, it is not inborn and so it needs to be learnt. To
give information you need good communication skills including the ability to write simply, clearly and concisely (Harris & Cunningham,
1996).
QUESTION A.
Delineate the purpose of written communication, giving reasons for your answers.
Different people have different reasons as to why they write. Some people write for their own private reasons or to attain their own individual
goals. An example of this 'private writing' is exploratory...show more content...
The fans of a musician like Madonna are quite interested to know what she does and what goes on in her life. Therefore gossip columnists quench
the fans by searching for information on Madonna daily and reporting it.
"All writers write to persuade or convince, regardless of what they are writing" (Harris & Cunningham, 1996, pg 216). From a poet, to a
chef, all writers actually try to convince a reader in one way or another. The poet will try to convince people how a woman is like a rose and a
chef on the other hand will try to convince that meat tastes better when boiled then fried. A student will try to convince an instructor that he has
understood the course material by writing excellent essays such as this one. Through persuasive writing, people get things done by convincing a
reader of something.
Another reason is to write to solve problems and present solutions. Here, one visualizes a problem and then connects what one knows to what he
does not know, by organizing his thoughts. The precursor leads to the quote: "A problem well put is half solved" (John Dewey).
Writing to solve a problem starts with definition of a problem, then evaluating alternative solutions, then arguing for proposed solutions. By
writing to solve a problem, one is fully engaged in the thought process and any good ideas that present solutions are immediately recorded. One
can also draw small sketches which connect with one another to form

Essay about Business Communication
2040MGT Business Communication Reflective Essay Student Name: KE PENG(Kiki) Student ID: PEKED1002 Tutor: Anita Chard Word Count:
1544 Due date:10/05/2012(Week 10) Communication is a mutual exchange of understanding. Business communication is more formal than
ordinary interpersonal interaction, which is regulated by certain norm and oriented by goals (Schoop, Köhne, & Ostertag, 2010). Through
learning the Business Communication course, I had understood various communication concepts and theories. Additionally, I have further
developed my understanding of interpersonal and intrapersonal dynamics through applying concepts into practical group work. On one hand,

Low level of interpersonal trust and negative interaction are considered to be the attributes of Internet communication (Fawkes & Gregory, 2010;
Lee et al., 2011). According to Gerpott (2010), Internet communication is not only separates people from physical distance, but also psychological
connections. Mayer (2010) adds that confrontational expression and disagreement can be often seen from Internet communication. However, this
does not fully apply to our circumstance. Although there are some negative impacts of purely relying on Internet communication, by meeting
pace–to–pace purposefully, the negative influence can be mitigated (Forrester & Tashchian, 2010). In the group work, the Internet communication
was only the alternative to us and we started to form the group as classmates who meet each other daily. Group work is defined by Judeh (2011),
a number of people have their motives mixed and work collaboratively to achieve common goals. Cooperative and competitive forms are often
detected in terms of group work interdependence (Riebe, Roepen, Santarelli & Marchioro, 2010). Improved communication, high productivity and
willingness of participating are often observed from cooperative interdependence whereas communicating deadlocks, aggressiveness and
competition are often found in competitive interdependence (Forrester & Tashchian, 2010). Noticeably, the cooperativeness was the spirit for the
group and we

Essay about My Communication Skills
My Communication Skills Improving my communication skills has been a work in progress starting back in the early years of my life. I have
always been my own worse critic. Usually beating myself down through interpersonal communication. Now as an adult I have made great
improvements but still have trouble dealing with perception and self–image. Not being raised in an environment of positive reinforcement and
poor communication in the workplace I have made it a point to change that trait in my own family and professional environment....show more

My goals for improving self–image are first to make the steps to be the person I want to be. Whether it is through exercise or education myself to
build up my intellectual strength. Making a self–image inventory, noting those things that I like about myself. The make a list of the negative
traits that I want to improve. Changing my focus from negative to positive should help me avoid being depressed. The best thing I can do I
recognize my shortcomings but don't dwell on them. A key characteristic in dire need of improvement would be my perception. I was raised in
an environment where stereotypes and first impressions were the norm. Expecting certain actions from people based on what I've heard or seen
in the past, not being empathetic in my views. In circumstances like UOP, if a student does not interact or participate at the same level as
myself, they would be interpreted as being a procrastinator. I certainly have issues with trust, usually taking a cautious approach to the team
atmosphere in fear of not meeting the courses expectations. In the last few classes I have posted questions and asked for feedback on peoples
expectations in hopes that I can be more

Essay about Communication
This assignment discusses barriers to, and methods of, effective communication with people who are confused by reflecting on my experience in
communicating with an elderly confused patient. Specifically, and within the scope of this assignment, I reflect on two methods of effective
communication with elderly confused patients; one verbal (reality orientation) and one non–verbal (touch).
During my first placement I was asked to assist in the care of Elsie (pseudonym), an 86 year old lady admitted to hospital with a fracture to her
hip and a urinary tract infection (UTI). Elsie was suffering from frequent periodic episodes of confusion; however this was not due to a
diagnosed cognitive disorder. Manos and Braun (2006) and Keenan (2011a)...show more content...
I felt helpless as I didn't know how to help Elsie understand what I was communicating and for me to understand Elsie. I felt more anxious when
Elsie became tearful because I felt that my inability to effectively communicate with her had caused her to become upset. Langland and Panicucci
(1982) say that using effective communication is vital for establishing the nurse–client relationship, and particularly important with the elderly
confused patient in helping them make choices and in providing direction and/or supervision in self–care. In providing nursing care, the
Department of Health (DoH) Essence of Care report on communication says that health professionals should ensure that "people and their carers
experience effective communication" (DoH, 2010, p.7) with a best practice benchmark that "appropriate and effective methods are used to enable
people and carers to communicate" (DoH, 2010, p.8). Additionally, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) say that we must "make
arrangements to meet people's language and communication needs" (NMC, 2008, p.3).
The communication barrier I experienced may have been due to Elsie's lack of ability to process or understand what I was saying or an inability
to express herself verbally. Bowlby (1991) and Miller et al. (1996) say that some of the

The Importance of Passing on Information
It is important for a business that information is passed on correctly, quickly and securely.
Poor or misleading sales and market information could lead a company to make a wrong decision in deciding their future business strategy. In a
competitive market it is also important that you are first to have vital market information ahead of your competitors, as this gives you an
advantage.
Personal information must be stored correctly and securely and not passed onto other people without their permission. The storage and use of
personal information is controlled by the Data Protection Act 1998. Examples of

Essay on Internet Communication
Since the invention and popularization of the internet, computer mediated communication has become an increasingly common mode of
socialization. Many people have voiced the concern that the move away from physical communication might have negative repercussions for
society; however, socialization on the internet has a number of advantages over traditional socialization. The internet provides a larger pool of
potential social contacts compared to physically seeking people, creates means for people to easily communicate when spatially or temporally
disconnected and allows a comfortable atmosphere for communication. At any given moment there are more people available for socialization on
the internet then there are people with which one...show more content...
When communicating through an instant messenger, one can send messages while conversational partners are away from their computers and the
partners will still see the messages when they return. Not only do they not need to be physically present, they do not even need to be participating
in the conversation at the exact same time. This makes computer mediated communication one of the easiest means of transmitting information.
Physical communication is more intimidating them communicating through typing. Typing allows one more time to think and reword one's
thoughts before communicating them. Further, the fact that people cannot see the physical reaction of their conversational partners makes it
easier to communicate about difficult topics. This is especially helpful shy people. Shy individuals who do not use the internet for communication
have less social contacts then shy people who do socialize on the internet3. Most people have some degree of shyness; communicating through the
internet helps alleviate the negative effects of shyness and makes socializing more comfortable. Some would argue that the above benefits are
irrelevant because online social encounters rarely result in a social relationship. Although it is true that many encounters on the internet do not
lead to meaningful social relationships, the same can be said about physical social encounters. For example, two people who meet while riding a
bus might speak during the

Essay About Communication

  • 1. Essay about Communication Process Communication Process Introduction Communication establishes relationships and makes organizing possible. Every message has a purpose or objective. The sender intends –– whether consciously or unconsciously –– to accomplish something by communicating. In organizational contexts, messages typically have a definite objective: to motivate, to inform, to teach, to persuade, to entertain, or to inspire. This definite purpose is, in fact, one of the principal differences between casual conversation and managerial communication. In the initial stage when idea is formed, it is encoded. After that encoded idea takes the shape of message and send to communicate by using proper media. After receiving the message it is analyzed and interpreted by communication. Channel: The medium/channel is the means of communication or a way to convey the message, such as print, mass, electrical, and digital. Factors to consider when selecting a medium include relative speed, cost, convenience, intelligibility, timing, feedback options, and documentation. It is very important to choose the appropriate medium for a particular message, as this will highly influence the feedback process.

Imitating others emotions happens all the time in society and as long as there is communication between people, whether it is verbal or nonverbal, this catching of emotions will continue. The interaction adaptation theory and the emotional contagion theory both have similarities and differences, just like any other set of theories. Both of these theories suggest that people adapt to people who are around them and whom they interact with. These two theories allow people to mirror those with whom they communicate with. These theories go hand in hand because when you are communicating with someone and mirroring their actions and behaviors, it is hard to not mirror their emotions. • 4. written communication Essay INTRODUCTION. "Man is an animal that lives in language as a fish lives in water and so written communication is just one of the ways that man can survive through" (English scholar Annie Dillard). Writing is a skill to give information. Like all skills, it is not inborn and so it needs to be learnt. To give information you need good communication skills including the ability to write simply, clearly and concisely (Harris & Cunningham, 1996). QUESTION A. Delineate the purpose of written communication, giving reasons for your answers. Different people have different reasons as to why they write. Some people write for their own private reasons or to attain their own individual goals. An example of this 'private writing' is exploratory...show more content... The fans of a musician like Madonna are quite interested to know what she does and what goes on in her life. Therefore gossip columnists quench the fans by searching for information on Madonna daily and reporting it. "All writers write to persuade or convince, regardless of what they are writing" (Harris & Cunningham, 1996, pg 216). From a poet, to a chef, all writers actually try to convince a reader in one way or another. The poet will try to convince people how a woman is like a rose and a chef on the other hand will try to convince that meat tastes better when boiled then fried. A student will try to convince an instructor that he has understood the course material by writing excellent essays such as this one. Through persuasive writing, people get things done by convincing a reader of something. Another reason is to write to solve problems and present solutions. Here, one visualizes a problem and then connects what one knows to what he does not know, by organizing his thoughts. The precursor leads to the quote: "A problem well put is half solved" (John Dewey). Writing to solve a problem starts with definition of a problem, then evaluating alternative solutions, then arguing for proposed solutions. By writing to solve a problem, one is fully engaged in the thought process and any good ideas that present solutions are immediately recorded. One can also draw small sketches which connect with one another to form

Business communication is more formal than ordinary interpersonal interaction, which is regulated by certain norm and oriented by goals (Schoop, KГ¶hne, & Ostertag, 2010). Through learning the Business Communication course, I had understood various communication concepts and theories. Additionally, I have further developed my understanding of interpersonal and intrapersonal dynamics through applying concepts into practical group work. Low level of interpersonal trust and negative interaction are considered to be the attributes of Internet communication (Fawkes & Gregory, 2010; Lee et al., 2011). According to Gerpott (2010), Internet communication is not only separates people from physical distance, but also psychological connections. Mayer (2010) adds that confrontational expression and disagreement can be often seen from Internet communication. However, this does not fully apply to our circumstance. Although there are some negative impacts of purely relying on Internet communication, by meeting pace–to–pace purposefully, the negative influence can be mitigated (Forrester & Tashchian, 2010). In the group work, the Internet communication was only the alternative to us and we started to form the group as classmates who meet each other daily. Group work is defined by Judeh (2011), a number of people have their motives mixed and work collaboratively to achieve common goals. Cooperative and competitive forms are often detected in terms of group work interdependence (Riebe, Roepen, Santarelli & Marchioro, 2010). Improved communication, high productivity and willingness of participating are often observed from cooperative interdependence whereas communicating deadlocks, aggressiveness and competition are often found in competitive interdependence (Forrester & Tashchian, 2010). • 7. Essay about My Communication Skills My Communication Skills Improving my communication skills has been a work in progress starting back in the early years of my life. I have always been my own worse critic. Usually beating myself down through interpersonal communication. Now as an adult I have made great improvements but still have trouble dealing with perception and self–image. Not being raised in an environment of positive reinforcement and poor communication in the workplace I have made it a point to change that trait in my own family and professional environment....show more content... My goals for improving self–image are first to make the steps to be the person I want to be. Whether it is through exercise or education myself to build up my intellectual strength. Making a self–image inventory, noting those things that I like about myself. The make a list of the negative traits that I want to improve. Changing my focus from negative to positive should help me avoid being depressed. The best thing I can do I recognize my shortcomings but don't dwell on them. A key characteristic in dire need of improvement would be my perception. I was raised in an environment where stereotypes and first impressions were the norm. Expecting certain actions from people based on what I've heard or seen in the past, not being empathetic in my views. In circumstances like UOP, if a student does not interact or participate at the same level as myself, they would be interpreted as being a procrastinator. I certainly have issues with trust, usually taking a cautious approach to the team atmosphere in fear of not meeting the courses expectations. In the last few classes I have posted questions and asked for feedback on peoples expectations in hopes that I can be more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay about Communication This assignment discusses barriers to, and methods of, effective communication with people who are confused by reflecting on my experience in communicating with an elderly confused patient. Specifically, and within the scope of this assignment, I reflect on two methods of effective communication with elderly confused patients; one verbal (reality orientation) and one non–verbal (touch). During my first placement I was asked to assist in the care of Elsie (pseudonym), an 86 year old lady admitted to hospital with a fracture to her hip and a urinary tract infection (UTI). Elsie was suffering from frequent periodic episodes of confusion; however this was not due to a diagnosed cognitive disorder. Manos and Braun (2006) and Keenan (2011a)...show more content... I felt helpless as I didn't know how to help Elsie understand what I was communicating and for me to understand Elsie. I felt more anxious when Elsie became tearful because I felt that my inability to effectively communicate with her had caused her to become upset. Langland and Panicucci (1982) say that using effective communication is vital for establishing the nurse–client relationship, and particularly important with the elderly confused patient in helping them make choices and in providing direction and/or supervision in self–care. In providing nursing care, the Department of Health (DoH) Essence of Care report on communication says that health professionals should ensure that "people and their carers experience effective communication" (DoH, 2010, p.7) with a best practice benchmark that "appropriate and effective methods are used to enable people and carers to communicate" (DoH, 2010, p.8). Additionally, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) say that we must "make arrangements to meet people's language and communication needs" (NMC, 2008, p.3). The communication barrier I experienced may have been due to Elsie's lack of ability to process or understand what I was saying or an inability to express herself verbally. • 11. Essay on Internet Communication Since the invention and popularization of the internet, computer mediated communication has become an increasingly common mode of socialization. Many people have voiced the concern that the move away from physical communication might have negative repercussions for society; however, socialization on the internet has a number of advantages over traditional socialization. The internet provides a larger pool of potential social contacts compared to physically seeking people, creates means for people to easily communicate when spatially or temporally disconnected and allows a comfortable atmosphere for communication. At any given moment there are more people available for socialization on the internet then there are people with which one...show more content... When communicating through an instant messenger, one can send messages while conversational partners are away from their computers and the partners will still see the messages when they return. Not only do they not need to be physically present, they do not even need to be participating in the conversation at the exact same time. This makes computer mediated communication one of the easiest means of transmitting information. Physical communication is more intimidating them communicating through typing. Typing allows one more time to think and reword one's thoughts before communicating them. Further, the fact that people cannot see the physical reaction of their conversational partners makes it easier to communicate about difficult topics. This is especially helpful shy people. Shy individuals who do not use the internet for communication have less social contacts then shy people who do socialize on the internet3. Most people have some degree of shyness; communicating through the internet helps alleviate the negative effects of shyness and makes socializing more comfortable. Some would argue that the above benefits are irrelevant because online social encounters rarely result in a social relationship. Although it is true that many encounters on the internet do not lead to meaningful social relationships, the same can be said about physical social encounters. For example, two people who meet while riding a bus might speak during the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
