Let's be honest, there is a common problem throughout many high schools. What is it you say? The answer is dress codes. "A set of rules
specifying the garb or type of clothing to be worn by a group or by people under specific circumstances" (Dictionary.com). School are failing to
address equally among women, but shame and sexualize their bodies. Social media post and news broadcast are storming the nation as more and more
situations with girls being called out for breaking the dress code. This is something not just another problem the country should push aside, but to

females based on what they are wearing. This is where rape culture comes into play. Dress codes serve to normalize rape culture, as women are
pushed to feel ashamed of their body and what they show, as innocence as it may seem. Sarah Gordon, a Girl Up Teen advisor, says "rape culture, a
building block of the patriarchy, says that men have the license to do almost anything they want, that women are temptresses, and that if a woman is a
victim to a man's assault/harassment/rape, it is her fault" (2016, para. 16). Putting dress codes into play allow to continue the belief that women and
girls are sexual objects and should be defined by that. Putting less stress on what a woman is wearing will allow stronger, happier women.

Why can't people be happy in their own skin and feel confident in what they're wearing? Why don't schools let both boys and girls wear what they
want? Of course, school dress code is more lenient on boys than on girls. Why can't girls wear crop tops to school without being sent to the office and
being asked to change their shirt? And also not having to be getting judged by everything that they're wearing. Dress code may have made a lot of
people not be happy with their own body, and have low self esteem, because school dress code has made them not feel comfortable in their favorite shirt
or shorts etc. Everyone should have the right to wear what they want, even though there is limits students. Now granted, students should also
understand that there are things that are inappropriate, but they should atleast be able to go to school and feel happy that, throughout the day they can
have a good normal day at school without the students having to go to the office.
We all know that there is different rules in almost all school dress codes that apply to guys and girls. For example, at some schools guys can't wear
beanies during class but girls can. A girl can't have shorts that reach before their fingertips when they have their arms down. I personally feel like
there shouldn't be "dress code" because for many people they like to express themselves by what they wear, why should schools make people feel
uncomfortable? Not having uniforms can make the students feel competitive on what they wear and where they have got their clothes from. For some
students those things do matter, but for some of them it doesn't matter they're going to school to learn, not to impress people at school. Some schools
hate what their students wear to school, but don't they have like favorite pieces of clothing that they also love as much as the students do? If schools

The way an employee dresses up for work can impact on how a person perceives that employee. It can hold a positive or negative impact depending

A popular debate topic in today's school system is the concept of student dress codes. The idea of a school dress code tends to mainly target female
entire however, males are still affected by it. Girls, no matter what their age or where they are from, are being sexualized for wearing clothing that

It's that time of the year again, back to school. As much as I'll miss my 15 year old daughter, I am so glad that we are back in session, that is
unless we're talking about the Dress Code Blues. It is the third day of school today. My daughter casually informed us that she has already seen ten
students get "dress coded". Now, the paraprofessional in me knows that you have to start the school year off strong. You enforce the rules early, and

The hands down most common argument I have seen thrown around is that girls who break the dress code essentially instigate the boys in the
classroom. I've seen it posted time after time, "boys can't control their hormones" or "boys will be boys" or "they only think with what's in their
pants". As a father, I'm perplexed by this, as a father of a teenagegirl I am appalled by the excuse making.
Are we saying that boys can not be taught common decency, and that they simply can not stop themselves from giving into their own urges and desires?
Should we be implying that girls don't deal with arousal issues at that age?
Is it even safe to imply that it's somehow the responsibility of teenage girls not to incite the boys? Isn't that paramount to blaming the victim?

many school's dress codes are harsher for girls than for boys and the excuse it that it impairs the boys' learning. Many people are for dress codes but
many are completely opposed to them. Dress codes are sometimes to harsh and it gives very few opportunities for children to truly express themselves.
Especially for teens, their clothing choices become very limited because the best shops with all the new trends also tend to disregard "school
appropriate" clothing.
