Crafting an essay on the topic of "Essay A Movie" presents a unique set of challenges that may
seem daunting at first glance. The difficulty lies not only in the vastness of the subject matter but

maintaining coherence and clarity in your writing.
One hurdle is the need for a comprehensive understanding of the chosen movie, including its

The challenge extends to articulating your thoughts effectively. Balancing personal insights with
objective analysis is a delicate task, requiring a keen awareness of your audience and the purpose
of the essay. Striking the right tone and maintaining a cohesive narrative throughout can be

Power In Macbeth
There are variety of themes in this play, but is more focused on power; the definitive
act and the intention to gain it. In Shakespeare s time, the Divine Right of Kings was
the idea that the power of kings came directly from God. Initially in Macbeth, the
power is natural, then it became strategically towards the play. Macbethwent against
the very law of nature and God by killing Duncan, his king; however he was killed
in return. The play portrays a sense of conformity in regards to killing Macbeth as he
is a tyrant but who gets to decide what tyranny is? In this regard, Macbeth indirectly
established a rule where regicide is unnatural and evil but tyrannicide is not. King
Duncanwas a good man and virtuous king but he was too meek to... Show more

I noticed that not a single woman in the play was left alive. In the play, women
were portrayed as dangerous, black forces who can emasculate and ruin men.
Which I affirm to, even up to this day, events like this are apparent, especially
when it comes to inheritance or in any monetary value. Well, sometimes diamonds
are really a girl s best friend; the more diamonds you have, the more masculine you
are. But for Lady Macbeth, and her husband, masculinity is synonymous with
cruelty and violence. Was there a good reason (aside for masculinity ) for all the
violence, or did people in this century like to watch blood spilling event as much as
we, of today, do? The only reason I see of Macbeth s inexcusable violence was
because it did not played by the rules established in the book of rules. In Macbeth,
organized crime is a sport, and individual crime is uncivilized. Throughout Macbeth
s successful crime, the time literally came to a halt starting from when he killed
Duncan and ended when he was killed in return. All events that took place between
Duncan s murder and Macbeth s final battle seemed to happen out of time, like a sort
of alternate reality, a dream perhaps. Normal time was only restored upon Macbeth s
death. Macduff s final remark time is free as Macbeth was defeated and Malcom was
to take his rightful throne as hereditary monarch hinted us into the relationship
between the seeming disruption in linear time and of lineal succession which states
that without its rightful ruler, a country has no future. Although Macbeth did
everything to secure his future on earth by his power, time was out of his
Mist of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Mist of Avalon breaks through many stereotypes but also strengthens some in some
ways. One stereotype that was torn down was that women are not as strong as men.
This is proved to be wrong when they have Morgaine fighting men and actually
being victorious. This movie also breaks the stereotype that women can t be in
power. Most women in this movie hold very high positions. For example, Viviane is
the high goddess of Avalon. Also Morgaine is her second in command. Although this
movie breaks some stereotypes it also reinforces them by putting the blame on a
women for not being able to give the king an heir. Although in this case it really is her
fault nobody knows this information and automatically blames her. These are just a
few of the reasons that Mist of Avalon strengthens and breaks through common
stereotypes.
In Mist of Avalon Gwenhwyfar is a sympathetic character because she has so much
going against her. Although she does have her own wrong doings they are acted
on out of hurt. For example, she is cursed with not being able to give the king an
heir and this causes turmoil in their marriage. Also in the end she gets even more
bad things thrown her way and then repents for her sins and ends things with
Lancelot. The film doesn t treat physical beauty in a positive or negative way. It is
very neutral about outer beauty compared to inner. This can be proved because
Morgos was pretty but she was an evil person and both Viviane and Morgaine weren t

Kumar Sambhav
Kumarsambhav :the birth of war god
KumДЃrasambhava is a Sanskrit epic poem by KДЃlidДЃsa; the first eight cantos
(sargas) are accepted as his authorship [1], the last nine may be later additions. The
period of composition is uncertain, Kalidasa is thought of as having lived in the 5th c.
AD.
Kumarsambhava is widely regarded as one of Kalidasa s finest works, a paradigmatic
example of KДЃvya poetry. The style of description of spring set the standard for
nature metaphors pervading many centuries of Indian literary tradition[
KumДЃrasambhava literally means Birth of Kumara , i.e. Kartikeya. This epic of

Mild, pleasant breeze began to blow from the south. Flowers were sprinkling down
from Ashoka trees. Birds and the bees began to savor the fresh flower of the young
mango leaves.
But all this would not deter Lord Shiva from his penance. Kama went there. Shiva
was doing his penance sitting on a tiger skin under a Devadaru tree. Kama was
overwhelmed on seeing the exquisite grace of Lord and the cupid s bow and arrow
fell down without his being aware of it. At this time, Parvati arrived on the scence to
attend to her daily chores of service to the Lord. She wore a saree colored like the
bright red rays of the Sun. Nice spring flowers adorned her plait. A diamond chain
shone on her forehead. Her gait was like that of a delicate flower creeper.
This great beauty of Parvati inspired Kama, who hitherto was somewhat, dejected,
again to strive to fulfil his task. Parvati raised her hands to offer her garland of
lotus flowers to Shiva who also eagerly came out of his penance to accept the
offering. Kama was waiting for such a moment and exercised his sword of love .
Shiva eyed Parvati once and immediately realised that he had been weaned away.
From his penance. How could this happen?
Kama, Cupid, was ready with his and arrow for action.
Lord Shiva was angry and opened his Third Eye. A great fire flowed forth. Kama
was burnt to ashes and Shiva then disappeared. Rati, seeing her husband destroyed
collapsed unconscious. Parvati s father sorrowfully took her to his home.

from the empty pages that filled the strange book as she heard her mother call for her.

the rocks at the edge of the water she felt the strange feeling return. She was unsure
if she had made the right decision by walking out to the rocks so late in the
afternoon. As she grew nearer to the rocks and the sun began to set, her nerves
returned and she grew uneasy. She skimmed the rocks for any sort of crevice or
cave, but couldn t see anything. Cordelia was so wrapped up in her thoughts that
she failed to notice the large pile of rocks behind her. They fell with a sickening
crash that caused her to drop the book in surprise. She was even more started to
hear a voice call to her from across the beach. Are you okay? Cordelia glanced over
her shoulder to see a small silhouette walk cautiously toward her and the glare of a
flashlight. As the figure drew closer Cordelia could see it was a small girl, at least
two years younger than her. We heard the crash from the house and wanted to see if

Summary Of The Film Imperfekt Strangers
The film Imperfekt Strangers revolves around a pseudo Christian cult the Faith
Community that is based in Bloomington, Indiana. In the film, there are two Indiana
University students who are roommates with two members of the cult. This movie
reflects from actual events that happened in the 1970s in Bloomington, Indiana. The
pseudo Christian cult the Local Church that was held in Bloomington was led by
Witness Lee who tried to gain members through college students and others around in
the city ( Are ). Throughout the film, the two roommates who are part of the cult tries
to convince the other two roommates, Steve and Tyler to join the cult. However,
tension builds up with the cult members and the students when they would not
convert and Steve s best friend Richie ends up joining the Christian cult. Furthermore,
Steve and Tyler end up worried and concerned around the other roommates because
their practices of following Christianityare eerie; they become uncomfortable with
the other followers who would also come to the house to preach. Likewise, Steve
and Tyler then confront their roommate Matty that they do not want to partake in the
cult. At the end, the two roommates Harold and Matty leaves Tyler and Steve. Due
to the film being based on true events, Matt Walls character Tyler is deemed to be
the most believable character in the film and convincing that all these events are
naturally occurring on a day to day basis.
At first, Tyler is accepting of his roommates Harold
, Allusion, And Symbolism In The Tyger By William Blake
In the poem The Tyger by William Blake, the use of rhyme, repetition, allusion, and
symbolism all help the reader understand the theme and what was going through the
authors thoughts while writing. William Blake was a mystic poet who channeled his
thoughts and questions to write poems. He questioned the creator of both the Tyger
and lamb, how could the same Godcreate a destructive creature like the Tyger and on
the other hand create a gentle animal, the lamb. This ties into the theme of the poem
of how a God could and would create a monster like the Tyger.
The first line in the poem says, Tyger Tyger, burning bright. By Blake repeating the
word Tyger twice, it feels to the reader as if we are speaking directly to the tiger. The

In this poem, each stanza is made up of two couplets. These couplets because of
their steady going rhyme, reminds the reader of the Tyger s heartbeat, beating as
we say the words as Blake intended them to be read. Blake states what words he
thinks are the most important to the poem by using repetition. Repetition plays a
key role, for example the word dread is repeated many times throughout the poem,
particularly in lines 12 and 15. Every time Blake repeats this word it adds emphasis
to the word or phrase its used in, contributing to the image of the Tyger in each
readers mind.
Allusion is also an important part of this poem because of the way the author uses
it to connect to the outside works that may also encourage the reader to think in a
certain way that goes along with the themes of the poem. The first allusion, found
in lines 7 and 8, are to the Greek gods Icarus and Prometheus. This allusion requires
the readers to think about gods and religion, which is a major part of the theme of
this poem. Another allusion I see is in line 20, which refers to another one of Blake
s poems, The Lamb. This allusion is significant because the speaker asks, Did he
who made the Lamb make thee? (20) And he wonders whether or not the same
creator who made something so gentle and pure could also make such an evil animal.
The allusion itself brings the reader to think about the other poems and to contrast the
two completely
Irony In The Stranger By Meursault
Within the Judge s statement, irony can be found within the words the Judge decides
to say. The Judge was somewhat appalled by the fact that Meursault rejected any
form of religion, and through his words it seems as if the Judge was reproaching1
Meursault for his perspective. By including the word unthinkable , the Judge is
implying that all humanbeings, at one juncture in their life or another, believe in
God; if they do not, than life loses its meaning, which would be devastating.
However, this is declaration replete2 with irony, since he is directing it to a man
who believes that life lacks meaning or purpose. For example, Meursault does not
even care about significant moments in his life, like when his boss asked him if he
would like... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It engenders21 a sense of hope within viewers, since unscrupulous22 people become
aware that what they have done is not acceptable. However, the courtroom scene in
The Stranger further emphasizes that truth is simply an illusion, for truth is
relative and what might be truth to one person can be false to another. For
example, in society, it is truth that a morally good person is one that is
benevolent23 and genial24. Meursault was anything but benevolent and genial,
and it is possible to consider him as a good person, depending on one s perspective.
The prosecutor was trying to make Meursault seem like a criminal, since he did not
adhere to society s standards or fit society s description of a good person. When the
warden of the Home in which Meursault s mother resided in was up for questioning
during Meursault s trial, he had been surprised by Meursault s calmness and further
explained that Meursault hadn t wanted to see Mother s body, or shed a single tear
(Camus 55). This reaction to his own mother s death is quite unusual and is
drastically different from the reaction society expects. Through this, the Prosecutor
was trying to show that there must be something wrong with Meursault, so it must be
true that he premeditated the shooting of the Arab. In Meursault s perspective and
mine, his indifference did not provide evidence or truth of his crime, but again, truth
can be

History and Laws behind the Federal Food and Drug Act of 1906 As one of the
primary federal consumer protection laws in existence today, The Federal Food and
Drug Act of 1906 was a law that had two primary goals for food and drugs: (a) forbid
harmful ingredients and additions and (b) demand labeling of ingredients to inform
consumers. According to Janssen (1981), it was hoped that the enactment of this law
would eliminate adulterations and poisons sometimes found in foods, sometimes in
drugs and often in both. The foundation of food and drug protection came from the
development of scientific methods of analysis by the Federal Bureau of Chemistry,...

Through his own research with human volunteers to determine the effects of food
preservatives on digestion and health, dubbed the Poison Squad, Wiley enlisted the
support of the American Medical Association, the General Federation of Women s
Clubs and other consumer groups (Janssen). Meanwhile, his staunchest opposition
came from the largest advertisers in the country; distillers and patent medicine firms.
But the tide was turned, according to historians and Dr. Wiley himself, when the
voteless, but militant club of women throughout the country who rallied to the pure
food cause Janssen, 1981, В¶ 12). Undoubtedly, these women supported Dr. Wiley
because he had become a popular speaker at their supper clubs where crusading
writers of national magazines also joined his campaign by publishing his findings as
editorials. Ultimately, legislation closely followed the January 1906 publishing of
Upton Sinclair s best selling novel The Jungle, which portrayed dangerous working
conditions as well as the unsanitary methods of Chicago s meatpacking industry. On
June 30, 1906, The Pure Food and Drug Act was passed providing inspection of meat
products and prohibiting the sale, manufacture, and transport of harmful patent
medicines. Major Provisions
Prokaryotes And Archaea Similarities
INTRODUCTION
Definitions for Archaea vary, but what is commonly agreed upon is that these are
some sort of micro organisms.
Some argue them to be their own distinct domain, whereas others think they are
merely part of the prokaryotic domain. However many see them as a evolutionary
step in between, as prokaryotic relatives to eukaryotes. (x) Since their evolutionary
history remains very unclear, it is hard to classify them belonging to a group of their
own or belonging to either prokaryotes or eukaryotes.
In 1977, Woese suggested dividing cells into three new domains; archaea, eukaryotes
and prokaryotes. (x)
Before this cells were divided into two main groups: prokaryotic cells, and
eukaryotic cells. Prokaryotic cells have no nucleus or ... Show more content on

Their structural similarities are the reasoning behind why one might say that they
belong to the prokaryotic domain, being structurally very similar, especially on the
first glance. The unique properties will be discussed further later in this essay.
SIMILARITIES BETWEEN EUKARYOTES AND ARCHAEA
Though structurally, prokaryotic cells seem more similar to archaea than eukaryotic
cells, yet when one inspects their DNA, similarities between DNA replication,
transcription and translation appear. The DNA polymerase in archaea and eukaryotes
are not related to any prokaryotic DNA polymerase, suggesting that these two are of
common origin. Other components used in DNA replication are similarly only
shared between eukaryotes and archaea (y). For example, the promoter (the part of
the DNA that initiates transcription), in archaebacteria has similar sequence and
position to its eukaryotic counterpart (x).
These characteristics were thought to be unique to eukaryotes, yet were found in
archaea as well. When so little is known about the evolutionary history of these
organisms that constitute for the basis of life on earth, categorising them becomes
immensely hard.

Taking a Look at Toxoplasma Gondii
Toxoplasma gondii is one of the most interesting parasites known to date. It has a
facultative heteroxenous life cycle and it can infect all warm blooded animal
including mammals, birds and humans. T. gondii is prevalent in most countries of the
world and is of medical importance, because it may cause abortion or congenital
disease in its intermediate hosts (Tenter et al. 2000). In its intermediate host, T. gondii
undergoes two phases of asexual development. During the first phase tachyzoites
multiply in different types of host cells. The last generations of tachyzoites initiate
the second phase of development, which results in the formation of cysts in the
intermediate host. Within the cyst, bradyzoites multiply rapidly and these cysts
readily form in the neural and muscular tissues of the host. However, they may also
be found in visceral organs such as the lungs and liver( Tenter et al. 2000). These
cysts are immediately infectious to the intermediate host. In many intermediate hosts
the cysts may persist for the life of the host giving rise to a latent infection. If the
cysts are ingested by a definitive host, the bradyzoites initiate another asexual phase,
which consists of repeated endopolygeny in epithelial cells of the small intestine
(Tenter et al. 2000). Then comes the sexual phase of the lifecycle. Oocyst formation
takes place in the epithelium of the small intestine and unsporulated oocysts are
released into the intestine and passed out with defecation. Sporogony

38 Who Saw Hollander Analysis
Are there any acceptable reasons for letting someone die in front of your eyes? In
the article The Murder They Heard written by Stanley Milgram and Paul Hollander
and first appearing in The Nation, Milgram and Hollander explored the reasons for
the neighbors failure to help, their lack of civic sense and their actions toward
Catherine Genovese s murder, in part, they are responding to the hype created
around Martin Gansberg s 38 Who Saw Murder Didn t Call the Police. Milgram and
Hollander argued that the witnesses were not at fault in that murder and instead, they
blamed the city life, society norms, law, and the situational pressure. Even though
Milgram and Hollander stated some acceptable reasons to think that the witnesses
were not guilty, I still find the witnesses responsible for the loss of Genovese s life.

They gave reasons showing that the 38 witnesses were not responsible for
Genovese s death and it was okay for them to not call the police for help. They
presented some of the reasons like the city life, society norms, law, and the
situational pressure. They also explained them in favor of the witnesses. First of
all, they talked about the personal relationships that are inferior in the city. People
in the city keep distance between themselves because they want to be free (902).
This was considered a big reason for the witnesses to not call the police or help her
as they didn t know Genovese or wasn t close to her. Moreover, Milgram and
Hollander presented society rules as an another explanation for the witnesses to not
help Genovese. The witnesses were following the society rules by not taking the law
into their own hands (904). They
Existentialism By Frank Kafk Isolation And Desperation
Existentialism can be defined in a multitude of forms. Frank Kafka was a prominent,
influential German language writer of novels and short stories; one of which includes
The Metamorphosis. His distinguishing philosophy of existentialism consists of two
main concepts: isolation and desperation. The notion of alienation is a fundamental
theme that is condensed throughout the short story. Gregor Samsa, main character
and protagonist of The Metamorphosis, goes through a complete physical
transfiguration that establishes the principle framework of the novel. In addition to
Gregor s metamorphosis, Kafka s existentialism is enforced to Gregor s death,
family figures, job conditions, and the weather conditions. Kafka s ideology
suggests that one knows that death is inevitable; one must cease to exist. Gregor s
physical transformation into an insect alienated him from himself, his own species,
and his own families. When Gregor Samsa woke up one morning from unsettling
dreams, he found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin (Kafka, Pg 4).
Not once did Gregor question or panic about his physical change. Despite his
indifference state of mind about his appearance, he emerges to be more distressed in
terms of not attending work on time rather than his impulsive alteration. Gregor has
failed to develop a sense of individuality and lack of humanity. By the appellation
vermin, linguistic usage designates the lowest form of human self contempt. Seeing
himself as vermin,

number of breast concerns including asymmetry, reconstruction procedures following

Choosing the correct breast implants, which come in a variety of size, shape, profile
and texture.
Before getting breast surgery, there are also some other things that you need to think
about. For example,
1.Your first breast surgery will probably not be your last. Breasts implants do not last
forever.
2.According to 2013 statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a boob
job costs around $3,600.
3.For best breast augmentation results, set realistic goals. For instance, you can t go
from a small A cup to a DD cup in one procedure. Your body and skin will need time
to adjust.
4.And finally, breast augmentations are not recommended for people with a strong
family history of breast cancer. The surgical procedure can also cause loss of
sensation in the nipples and could, in the future, affect your ability to breastfeed.
Clearly, breast augmentation is a huge decision. When done right, it is an
empowering way for you to feel more confident about your body. Take Angelina
Jolie for instance or Katy Perry. These are women loving life after getting breast
implants. So if you don t feel comfortable in your own skin, transform your body and
be the best you that you can possibly

Child Abuse And Spousal Abuse
A term that is quite often used in today s society is family violence, more
specifically child abuse and spousal abuse. A term that is not heard often is elder
abuse, which is unfortunate due to the fact that it is a fairly common occurrence. It
was estimated that in 2009, one in ten elderly Americans were victims of elder abuse
within the previous year (Acierno, 2010). Even though elder abuse is prevalent here
in America, it is seldom that this phenomenon is actually discussed. According to the
National Center on Elder Abuse, there are seven types of elder abuse: physical abuse,
sexual abuse, psychological abuse, financial exploitation, neglect, self neglect, and
abandonment (Fischer, 2012, p. 102). The American Medical Association defines
elder abuse and/or neglect as an act of commission or omission that results in harm
or threatened harm to the health or welfare of an older adult whether intentional or
unintentional (Read, 2016, p. 32). In the 1950 s, public welfare officials were
faced with an increasing number of older persons who were unable to manage on
their own and began to develop a new approach to providing services, which they
called protective service units (Bonnie Wallace, 2003, p. 238). Due to their interest,
Congress passed legislation, as part of the Social Security Act, providing funds to the
states (Bonnie Wallace, 2003, p. 239) in order to set up these protective service units.
In 1974, Congress amended the Social Security Act,

Mt. Everest Failure
Throughout a lifetime, each and every individual experiences bumps in his or her
road, which is apart of life. Some pebbles, some boulders, but for others it may
seem as if Mount Everest is standing in their way. Certain people may even feel as
if they re entering an abyss, climbing down rather than up, but let s not get
sidetracked. All human beings have failed in one way or another, which is a part of
life, and this has helped shape them into who they are in the world.
I was six years old when my parents got divorced. Of course, you re probably telling
yourself, she doesn t remember anything, but here s the catch: I do. I remember
pulling into the driveway of my home on that warm summer day, not suspecting
anything at all. My mother held my hand and slowly, but surely, the words rolled off
her lips. Your father and I are getting divorced. Being an only child, my wrinkly
Chinese Shar Pei and two cats kept me company, so I can only imagine how my
parents felt tearing apart our little family. Little did they know, ten years later, I have

Digital Straw Research Paper
THE FINAL STRAW Now lets look at the year 2020. Technology has improved
drastically. Self driving cars are no longer a thing of the future. They had been
around for a few years and were now becoming more readily available. People had
nearly anything they could ever desire at the touch of a screen. The internet was an
enormous benefit to society for knowledge but also contributed to such horrendous
downfall. Everything was touch screen. Food was not what it appeared to be. They
often contained more chemicals than actual foods. Our bodies were eroding from the
inside out. All of the chemicals that we had been ingesting over the last seventy
years began to cause physical harm to our digestive systems. We had to be proscribed

It is our social responsibility to teach future generations about the past in hope that
they will learn from our mistakes. We must do everything in our power to restore
the planet. Pick up pollutants in the water ways, recycle what materials we can. To
move on, we need to find a use for all of the abandoned vehicles and homes.
Rehabilitate communities to make them livable shelters again. HISTORICAL
PERSPECTIVE Our ancestors did not have the tools that we still possess. They
made it this far, so can we. It may require going back to more primitive methods
such as hunting and trapping for food while our crops grow but we will thrive
again. We may have to live off of the land rather than all of the luxury we have had
for the past thousand years. This is not the end. We will adapt. DIVERSITY This
change will bring more diversity as we begin to rebuild. There is no longer social
class dividing people. Everyone lost it all. The education that we had prior to the
end of society as we knew us carried us thorough the tough times. We were able to
work together and break the walls of diversity. This event truly showed us the
importance of working together and breaking previous social
Comparing The Langmuir And Bet Isotherms
Figure 3 Comparison of the Langmuir and BET isotherms
Fig. 3 compares Langmuir and BET isotherm shapes: gas adsorption along the BET
isotherm contributes more significantly at early time of production than that of
Langmuir isotherm curve. The reason for this is the slope of the BET isotherm curve
at higher pressure is larger than that of the Langmuir isotherm curve, resulting in
more adsorbed gas releasing at early production times. The amount of released
adsorbed gas with BET isotherm curve is larger than that with Langmuir isotherm
curve under the same pressure drop from the initial reservoir pressure to the bottom
hole pressure.
Dubinin Astakhov equation
To describe adsorption in micro porous material, Dubinin Astakhov have proposed

W_0 Maximum adsorption capacity (volume of adsorbate/mass of adsorbent) ПЃ_L

The pollution is leaving our footprint rate out of control! Knowing that they have
gotten rid of all the coal generators is a big reduction of the ecological footprint.
Without the generators burning off the coal, the pollution will stay at a lower rate

city doesn t have to worry about trying to maintain the pollution levels as much as
we used to and we can focus on more of the major projects.

The Causes And Effects Of Recidivism
With so many studies on recidivism and rehabilitation, and so few that were
considered successful, there were aspects that made many skeptical of why these
programs simply did not work. Different researchers conducted different types of
research and came up with different results. Of the 231 studies that were finalized
after making it through the rigorous elimination process, some researchers seen the
net widening process as the beginning of the entombed rehabilitationand recidivism.
Researchers did not coordinate their individual meaning of many terms, including
recidivism and rehabilitation. Whether it was for simply being arrested and
charged, adding a new charge all together, or taken into custody and being released.
The diversity in the research would become both the entombing and the rebirth on
recidivism and rehabilitation. Researchers seem to vacillate even more on the
effects of recidivisms and rehabilitation we know very little about the recidivism
effects of various degrees of security, finding out will be compounded by the
probability that these effects will vary widely according to the type of offender that
we re dealing with (Martinson, 1974). Eliminating certain factors from the studies
only skewed the results the way the researchers wanted them to be viewed in the
beginning. With each study of a successful result, there is another with a failure
result. Every program does not work on every criminal in every situation. Having
many programs can be costly,

Mandatory Physical Education Research Paper
The number of obese children more than tripled since 1971. Physical education
should be a mandatory class, because at least one in three children in the U.S. are
overweight or obese. Obesity is causing a huge amount of health problems that
previously weren t seen until adulthood. If all children had PE class every day, it
would help reduce the number of children affected by obesity and children would
develop a habit of daily physical exercise. Some health problems obese kids are
getting can be very serious. These include high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and
elevated blood pressure. Obese children commonly have a lower self esteem ,
negative body image and depression. Physical education is an essential part of
growing and learning, not just the physical part is takes a big roll on academic as

about other things such as math or science. Physical activity stimulates the minds of

In the early days of YC106, the Quafe Corporation announced the launch of a new
beverage in their franchise known as Quafe Ultra. Promising a new twist on the
familiar Quafe flavor, the product came with a cluster wide advertisement campaign.
Portrayed as a wonder tonic , the drink was rife with controversy from the very first
advertisements released. Accordingly, the marketingof the drink may have directly

The first advertisement to cause a stir was released to the public of the Amarr
Empire. Displaying St. Junip s Cathedral in Dam Torsad, among Amarr Prime s
oldest landmarks, the advertisement revolved around a group of Amarr theology
students. One of the students opens a can of Quafe Ultra and the study quickly
devolved into a raucous party. The cathedral spire was portrayed in a less than savory
light from the resulting party. In response, several notable entities within the Empire
voiced their opposition for the advertisement. However, this did not at all deter Quafe

Vera Barantsov s Disillusionment In Russia
During the 1860 s and 1870 s Russia had a growing underground movement of young,
intelligent people growing discontent with the social and political disadvantages that
the country was going through. Many in the government, especially the Tsar
Alexander II was trying to curve revolutionary sentiment by reforming the
government and introducing new measures to improve Russian society. To many
young Russians that grew disaffected they saw the reforms as being to little too late
and that further radical action was needed. The writings of the Nihilist Girl show a
profound disillusionment in young people during the reign of Alexander II and his
reforms that also affected high class society. This disillusionment would manifest

The Russians that felt disaffected in their lives began to see this revolution taking
shape as something that they could join and find meaning in their lives. Her
ignorance of the real conditions of life was so great that in her imagination the

definite plan to achieve clearly articulated goals. She had no doubt that once she
arrived to St. Petersburg, that cradle of nihilist agitation, she would immediately
enlisted into the great underground army and take up a specific post in it, however
modest it might be. The imagination that Vera and many others had about the
revolution and the cause were those of people trying to find meaning in their life
and do something productive to help the cause or whatever that may be. This goes
to show the far reaching effect many in Russian society felt. There are many
people during this time especially young Russians that don t see themselves part of
this society due to the wrongs they see in society or bitterness they feel in their
hearts. There seems to be a great disconnect with the old generation of people that
grew up with old values and when new ones are introduced and they feel dull inside
because they have no purpose or it s been taken out of them. These young people feel
dissatisfied and they need something to latch on to. The cause helps be useful and
Corruption In George Orwell s Animal Farm
The quote, Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely, by Lord
Acton is represented in Animal Farm. Animal Farm is an allegory by George
Orwell. George Orwell used Animal Farm to explain how corruption comes from
absolute power. It provides the basis for understanding the effects of power on the
heads of state, and it furnishes insight into one of the main themes in the novel. In
this novel, power affects the characters, the events, and the outcome of the book.
Two characters in this novel, Snowball and Napoleon, had the absolute power, but,
Snowball did not become corrupt with power and Napoleon did. Snowball was a

PIgs are the most intelligent ones, especially Napoleon, then the dogs and they the

The Seven Commandments and the idea of freedom from being in control. At the

Questions On The Hospitality Industry
2.Overbooking
Overbooking is a familiar practice in the hospitality industry, at times a hotel can be
overbooked to balance lost revenue and other times the hotel can be overbooked as a
result of a miscommunication. All hotels experience no shows, last minute
cancellations, and reservation that need to be changed to a later date. In practice,
effective managers know that all the reservations that have been confirmed for a
specific date may not be used and in order to make up for the lost revenue one must
overbook the hotel.

Jessica explains, On high occupancy days when you have same day cancellations
and you overbooked your hotel, a manger can decide to charge the penalty and also
accommodate the next guest in line . In essence, when a hotel is overbooked not
only can revenue be maximized but the hotel can also gain large profits. For
example, a hotel is overbooked and a guest cancel the same day he is due to check
in. Management then charges the guest the penalty fee for the cancelation and that
leaves a confirmed room unoccupied. The room is then occupied shortly due to
overbooking and the profits are as follows: profit from cancelation penalty plus the
profit from the overnight accommodations. However, just like everything else in the
business world, overbooking has its advantaged and disadvantages.
When a manger fails to forecast occupancy properly and all confirmed reservation
do in fact check in can lead to a walked guest. Walking a guest is explained as the
practice of turning people away who have booked and confirmed their reservations.
When a hotel walks a guest, Toh explains that They [the hotel that is overbooked]

a hotel of the same caliber and covering the costs of transportation . This practice
incurs costs such as overnight accommodations at another hotel for the guest and
transportation costs. Hotels typically have negotiated rates with
Asset-Liability Management for Correcting Mismatch
ASSET LIABILITY MANAGEMENT: STRATEGIES FOR CORRECTING
MISMATCH
Strategies that can be used to correct the mismatch in terms of D (A ) D ( L ) can be
passive or benefit driven. Assets driven strategies to correct the mismatch approach in
shortening the duration of the asset portfolio. The financing strategy based asset
securitization is commonly employed. Normally portfolios of long term assets such as
leasing and hire purchase portfolios are securitized, and the resulting product is
redistributed or short term assets or used to pay short term liabilities.Responsibility
strategies driven primarily focus on lengthening the maturity profile of liabilities.
These strategies may include, for example issue of foreign equity in the form of
additional shares of stock or convertible preference shares (which can also help in
increasing Tier I capital finance companies ) , the issuance of redeemable preference
shares subordinated debt instruments , obligations and access to long term debt ,
including bank loans and long term loans . Strategies used to correct an imbalance in
the form of D ( A) D ( L ) (which is necessary if you expect interest rates to decline )
will be the reverse of the strategies discussed above.
Assets driven strategies focus on lengthening the maturity profile of the assets by
deploying loanable funds available in long term assets such as leasing and hire

Visualization on how Self Handicapping Can Lead to Procrastination and Low Self
Esteem
Self esteem is the central component of every individual s daily life experiences.
Self esteem can be defined as a person s evaluation of the self, e.g. I am not
satisfied with me or I like me. We perform self evaluations on ourselves everyday; it
is a non conscious process where as only the individual knows the end result.
Important domains affect us, and unimportant domains do not (things tailored
specifically to the individual). When an individual experiences an emotional gut
feeling , the individual feels either good or bad about themselves. As human beings,
we have a fundamental need for motives of self inclusion (Franzoi 59). Self esteem ...

Procrastination is a form of self handicapping that can be applied to almost any
aspect in one s life. The most common thread of procrastination is fear; fear of
failure, fear of unpleasant or painful experiences, and the fear of missing out.
When you fear failure you are prone to avoid involve yourself to begin with. Out of
the fear of failing and looking bad, they would often spend vast amounts of time on
a project without making any real progress because at a subconscious level they
don t want to finish a finished project will make them vulnerable for criticism and
consequently failure (Klassen et al. 918) If an procrastinator believes that a task is
going to be an undesirable experience then they will feel constrained not to do it.
All these fears can lead a person to self handicap. A lot of times, a person who
might both self handicap and procrastinate, will use drugs and/alcohol to utilize
their actions; an example is drinking the night before an exam. This individual, who
chooses to go out before the exam, is giving themselves an excuse to why they will
not do well on this exam. This is an easy way for this person to maintain their self
esteem level. Baumeister allows me to introduce this concept (409)
Procrastination predicts higher levels of consumption of alcohol among those people
who drink. Procrastinators drink more than they intend to a manifestation of

Federal Reserve System Analysis
The Federal Reserve System regulates the economy of the United States through
monetary policy. For instance, the Fed keeps the federal fund rate low to provide
lower mortgages, increases investments, and boosts the economy. Alternatively, the
Fed manages the economy when the opposite effects take place. When the federal
fund rate is high the mortgages increase, reduces investments, and will slow the
economy, which means the Fed has to manipulate the interest rates and try to shape
economic potentials for the future. There are 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks in
the Federal Reserve Systemwhich rely on an intrinsic technological infrastructure to

The American people take precautions they see in their best interest when news of
catastrophe and possible economic unbalance is being reported. While the Board of
Governors and the Fed Chair work in the headquarters building, there is no actual
fiscal work being done in this building. Therefore, there will be no physical loss of
stockpiles of money or securities. The biggest possible loss of assets would be if the
total catastrophe of the building took place with the Board of Governors in the
building resulting in the deaths of the seven board members and countless number
of employees in the building. Without the appointed board members, the Federal
Reserve System may not have a backup plan consisting of alternate board members
to fill the role of the recently departed. Without a Board of Governors to oversee
the policies and practices of the banks, then more economic ruin could be on the
horizon. Who will be responsible for maintaining the economic flow that keeps
interest rates down and dollars circulating? This uncertainty will keep Americans
from spending more than what is needed for essentials, ultimately slowing the
economy, and an absent Board of Governors and Chairman to execute the plan to
boost the economy. For instance, the Chairman of the Board of Governors not only
manage the member banks and presides over the Board of Governors, but also has
to testify before Congress twice a year. In the event that there was no contingency
plan for an alternate Board of Governors, the member bank presidents will have to
oversee themselves until the President appoints new members and Congress

Self Esteem? The concept of self esteem is widespread in life. When it comes to
academics and extracurricular actives people associate high self esteem is
necessary for success. Society makes promoting self esteem an important goal. With
that in mind, it is surprising that only recently scientific literature began providing
insight into the nature of development of self esteem. Self esteem is how an
individual evaluates their worth as a person. It is not a person s talents or abilities

Additionally, research indicates that individuals with certain personality traits are
more likely to undergo increases in self esteem throughout life. Particularly
individuals who are extroverted, emotionally stable, and hardworking are inclined
to show more development in self esteem compared to those who lack these traits.
Apart from levels of self esteem, another aspect is the degree of change when it
comes to external factors, such as failure or success. Unexpected fluctuations in
self esteem are not considered beneficial because it suggests that the individual
does not have a stable sense of self worth. Studies show that as people go through
their adolescent and middle adulthood years, self esteem levels become more
constant. Is self esteem s stability more similar to mood, varying from different
situations, or personality and intelligence? Two studies have studied the stability
of individual differences in self esteem. Both studies proved that 70 85% of
variance of self esteem was accounted for by trait factors. The real question is, does
it matter if someone has high or low self esteem? Does high self esteem lead to
better relationships, work, and health? Is self esteem a reflection of success in
those areas? If so, improving self esteem will be beneficial in life. The general
pattern found in studies proved that high self esteem is a predictor of life success. In
situations where someone has very low
The Rights Of The Sound Maker
The provision expresses the rights of the sound maker, i.e. what is not required is
implied. The implication is that anybody apart from the marker is prevented by the
Act to make reproductions without authority (Craig, 2011, p. 105). On 23rd of June
2015, the rules of regulating sound recordings were modified. The modifications
were to the effect that unpublished sound recordings would last for fifty years after
fixation. If the sound recordings are published before the copyrightexpires, the term
application is seventy years before its publication or a hundred years from the date of
fixation. Consequently, it also extends the copyright for musical performers works
contained in the recordings (Craig, 2011, p.226). According to McCormack (2010),
the Canadian Intellectual PropertyOffice defines performers performances. It states
that copyright applies to a performer s performance provided that it occurs in
Canada or in any other country that accords its membership to the Rome
Convention country. Such performances will also qualify if it is embodied in a
sound recording, whose producer is either a citizen or permanent resident of Canada
and or member country of Rome Convention. However, if the producer of a sound
recording is a corporation, its headquarters must be based in Canada or a member of
the Rome Convention. It all implies that the intellectual property protection and, in
particular, copyright rules will apply, as long as the disclaimer is either a Canadian
The Case Of Roe V. Wade
On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court, on the case of Roe v Wade, ruled to
legalize abortion in all fifty US states. Forty two years after this decision,
approximately 56 million abortions have been performed in the US alone and this
number continues to climb drastically day to day. For some individuals, this number
is simply not enough. For example, in her article, It Is Time to Integrate Abortioninto
Primary Care, Susan Yanow argues the case that abortion is here to stay. With this
observation, she further believes that the procedure should be made more available
to all women, and likewise, any physician should be easily allowed to perform
abortions. Susan Yanow begins by advocating for the increased availability of
procuring abortions for all women no matter their income, location, or age. She offers
a complaint against the many barriers for woman to obtaining an abortion, State
restrictions... create almost insurmountable barriers to access, especially for rural,
young, and low income women. Yanow argues that women should not have to travel
long distances or deal with unnecessary requirements in order to get the reproductive
health care they need. She resolves this by insisting on integrating abortion into
primary care in such a way that family physicians at home be allowed to perform first
trimester abortions. As one continues through the article, Yanow s position becomes
increasingly clear. She points out that most primary care clinicians already have the
Infant Adoption
Adoption is one of the leading choices for women and young girls who have gotten
pregnant and feel that they can not physically emotionally financially and mentally
take care of another human being. In 1851 the adoption world took off with the
launching of the Adoption of Children Act that is still in effect today. With this act
being in effect it gives young girls and families that can not conceive another chance
at a life that they wanted.
However, in 2000 is when the adoption world took a turn for the best. Given the
ability to help children in other countries the Child s Citizenship Act was passed to
help with international adoptions. this gave the families in both foreign countries and
here the gift of a life time.
There are many different types of adoptions and different ways of going about
adoptions. These different types include closed, open, international, infant, fast

Can also be known as an emergency adoption of a child of any age. His form of
adoption is where the state needs immediate placement of the child due to some
circumnutates varying from many things (BBB, 2015)
Infant adoption. There are many eligible adoptive parents looking to adopt infants.
Sadly though, there are less infants than eligible adoptive parents. Most couples can
be put in to a roster for birth parents to choose from. Some birth parents would like
to meet the adoptive parents to make sure they are picking the right one for their
child and some perter not to. The adoptive parents ,when picked and have gone
through all the steps needed, can take the infant straight from the hospital or brought
to them in a hotel room after birth by the counselor (LUND, 2015)
Independent adoption. This form of adoption normally does not have any counselling.
Basically the adoption is set up between the agreement between the birthparents and
adoptive parents without the aid of an adoption agency. This form can also be
considered an open adoption (Thomas Reuters,
Skateboarding Vs. Longboarding
Skateboarding vs. Longboarding Everyone knows what skateboarding is and has
an opinion on the sport. However, not very many people know or have even heard
about longboarding. Because of this, most people just assume that skateboarding
and longboarding are similar in sport and that the same stereotypes of
skateboarders can be given to longboarders. That is not the case at all. Even though
they may seem similar longboarding has its own unique attributes that set it apart
from skateboarding. Skateboarding and longboarding were both invented in 1959
as a way to surf in the absence of rideable waves. They first called it, sidewalk surfing
. These two styles of riding grew, except skateboarding became a lot more popular.

Longboards have bigger everything. The decks can be anywhere around thirty five
to forty five inches long. Skateboards are usually shorter, twenty eight to thirty two
inches. Skateboards are also not as wide as a longboard. Longboards tend to be
around 10 inches wide while a skateboard is mainly only eight inches wide. These
differences in the deck give the unique uses for each. The smaller build of a
skateboard allows it to be maneuvered easily for tricks. On the other hand,
longboards are built for stability. Modern skateboards differ only in minor details
like the brand or materials. Wheel size, deck size, truck specifications, and deck
shapes don t vary much. Longboards, however, have several different styles of the
decks, wheels, and trucks. Longboards can be built in deck styles such as pintail,
drop through, drop down, and speedboard. Along with the general style of a deck
there are also options for how the deck itself is shaped and built. Some aspects of
unique longboards are the build material, rocker vs. camber, concave, grip tape,
and flex. Longboard wheels are unique in the durometer and diameter of each
wheel. Trucks can be positioned at different angles as well as being outfitted with
specific bushings to accommodate the responsiveness the rider desires. Each style
has its own perks and attributes which allows a rider to build a personalized board
specifically suited for the
Why Student Evaluations Are Influenced By Events

Fudging the numbers: distributing chocolate influences student evaluations of an
undergraduate course. Teaching of Psychology, 34, 245 247. doi: 10.1080
/00986280701700318 2.What is the research question of interest or aim of the study?
The aim of the study was to investigate if whether student evaluations were influenced
by events not related to the course. In this instance, three random sections were
offered chocolate before doing their evaluations in order to perceive if student
evaluations were better from those who were not offered chocolate. 3.What are the
hypotheses and do they logically flow from their review of previous studies? The
hypothesis is that an external influence would affect the evaluations of students, with
the external factor being chocolate. The hypothesis does flow accordingly with
previous research, as previous research has indicated that external and internal factors
play a role in student evaluations. For example, an internal factor of evaluation can be
related to the difficulty of the course (Youmans Jee, 2007). 4.Why is the study
important? Refer to examples to highlight its significance. The study was important
because it suggested that student evaluations could be biased based on internal and
external factors. For example, a study has found that grading leniency
Sandra Cisneros s “Never Marry a Mexican”
Sandra Cisneros s short story Never Marry a Mexican deals heavily with the
concept of myth in literature, more specifically the myth La Malinche, which
focuses on women, and how their lives are spun in the shadows on men (Fitts).
Myths help power some of the beliefs of entire cultures or civilizations. She gives
the reader the mind of a Mexican American woman who seems traitorous to her
friends, family and people she is close to. This causes destruction in her path in the
form of love, power, heartbreak, hatred, and an intent to do harm to another, which
are themes of myth in literature. The unreliable narrator of this story was created in
this story with the purpose to show her confusion and what coming from two

This did not appeal to Cisneros, and these ideas helped her become a very
influential writer. To begin, the protagonist Clemencia is like a chameleon, who
can blend into any social event and with any class of wealth when she says I m
amphibious. I m a person who doesn t belong to any class. The rich like to have
me around because they envy my creativity; they know they can t buy that. The
poor don t mind if I live in their neighborhood because they know I m poor like they
are, even if my education and the way I dress keeps us worlds apart (Cisneros
71,72). Clemencia is a woman who knows how to talk and have a good time. By
nature she is a very creative being who loves to impress by wearing the best
clothes, and show off to anyone to make herself seem better than others. (Cisneros
71). Clemencia is poor and does not have much being that she works for the school
system as a translator, and other various positions. But acts rich and very wealthy
to all of her friends (Cisneros 72). This connects with the myth of La Malinche, of
how the character is a bad woman who sleeps with lots of men. Furthermore, the
ability to blend in is a power the author gives the protagonist to be a temptress to
men to get them to have an affair with her, or something that is not serious, because
of her fear of commitment. Early on in Clemencia s life, her mother told her
Two Gallants Essay
Two Gallants A short story by James Joyce published in his 1914 collection
Dubliners. Two men, Lenehan and Corley, are walking the streets of central Dublin
on a Sunday evening. Corley dominates the conversation telling Lenehan about a
girl he has recently seduced, a maid who works for a wealthy family. He brags
about how the girl supplies him with cigars and cigarettes, which she steals from the
family. Corley considers his relationship with this girl superior compared to when he
used to ask women out and spend money on them. The two men have arranged a
meeting with the maid, where the aim is to convince the maid to bring them money,
stolen from her employees. Corley has a date with the girl later that evening, and

Joyce describes Corley as squat and ruddy and with a large, globular and oily head
not exactly how one imagine a gallant. Furthermore he seems rude and selfish,
because of his constant bragging and his behaviour towards the girl and Lenehan.
Lenahan on the other hand is described as a leech but a bit more self reflective than
Corley. Based on his expectations towards others, it would seem as if he has been
let down several times, for instance in the end where Corley hasn t arrived at the
appointed hour, Lenehan instantly assume, that Corley has cut him out of the plan.
Similarly, Corley only allows Lenehan a distant glimpse of the girl, for the fear of
competition. The two gallants both have a constant of being betrayed. The title is
obviously ironic, considered the two men s behaviour during the short story. The
two men are anything but gallant and fine men. Instead they exploit the young
woman. Corley has seduced her into giving both her body and some cash in
exchange for nothing but a lie. Corley hasn t even revealed his name for the girl.
Neither of the two gallants have a decent job, or the opportunity for advancement.
They both live a dissolute life, constantly searching for easy women and money. They
don t have any ambitions. When Lenehan sits in the bar and imagines an alternative
to his current lifestyle, his vision is to settle down in some smug and live happily

As the rising population of older adults continue to impact our society, it is
imperative to address various aspects of care. Physical, mental, emotional, and
spiritual realms of care need to be incorporated in assessing the older adult. As
aging takes a toll, many older adults are subject to chronic illnesses that plague
bodily functions. Utilization of assessment tools is helpful in depicting underlying
hindrances. This paper will address the geriatric depression scale, the geriatric pain
assessment tool, an assessment of the environment, advanced directives, and
teaching topics, along with interventions for an older adult. Assessment Tools
Assessment tools serve the purpose of evaluating risk factors that may be
overlooked during a brief assessment. It is a method of attaining information as
part of the overall assessment of a patient. These tools can be valuable for health
care professionals to utilize for focused areas of concern. There are a countless
number of assessment tools to aid health care professionals in addressing potential
downfalls. Assessment tools help facilitate a health care professional to evaluate
various aspects of a patient s health. Geriatric Depression Scale The geriatric
depression scale: short form is a yes or no questionnaire with a total of 15 questions

Although the theodolite looks like a difficult instrument to use, its basic concept is
very simple. The surveyor would begin by picking a distinct point in the distance.
After centering the theodolite over the primary point of interest, the surveyor would
use the eye piece to align the sight axis with the point of interest in the distance. Next
the surveyor would zero the horizontal and vertical axes graduated circles. Finally the
surveyor would move the sight axis using the eye piece to the final point of interest

may be determined.

Small Cell Lung Cancer Essay
Have you ever been in the car with your family members and they re smoking, and
you re not able to catch a breath? You get annoyed because you re coughing and
your eyes are becoming bloodshot, you re trying so hard to hold your breath, well
that kind of stuff can kill you. Therefore inhalation of harmful chemicals is a main
cause of lung cancer. There are two types of lung cancer: Small cell Lung
cancer, which has 10 20% of most cases. Theres also the non small cell which is
responsible for 80%. Small cell lung cancer is rarely found in people who don t

Thomas Foster s Themes Traced in Mulan In his book How to Read Literature Like
a Professor, Thomas Foster explains many reoccurring themes in literature, and
shows how to recognize them and in some instances shows certain works where
they occur. By reading this guide to literature, one may gain a deeper understanding
of the work itself and of the author s intent in writing it. However, Foster s methods
can also be applied to films. A film that contains many of the various themes, models,
symbolism, and devices discussed in his book is Walt Disneys Mulan. Mulan is a
character type with which people are familiar. Foster discusses this process of
association in the chapter Now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Mulan has failed in her encounter with the matchmaker, she goes home and
begins singing the marvelous, gripping song called Reflection . She asks, When
will my reflection show who I am inside? She realizes that her fair appearance does
not reflect her feelings. Singing this song, she washes away her makeup, and
gives up on becoming the perfect daughter and bride; it is a baptism. Maybe it
would be key to mention that during this song, Mulan sings in a downpour of rain.
Just like Foster describes in his book, Mulan is baptized in the rain. Disney movies
are not notorious for their violent nature. So, when something violent occurs in a
Disney movie, or an individual (or animal in many cases) dies, it must carry some
kind of importance. In the chapter of his book More Than It s Gonna Hurt You ,
Fosters says that there is usually more to violence than just violence. When Mulan
is struck by the sword of Shan Yu, many more things happen to her than a fatal
wound. She almost meets her demise, and for the first time, the reality of war sets
in. Mulan realizes that she is not invincible and grasps the perils of war for the first
time. When she receives medical attention for her wound, she is discovered to be a
woman. All she has worked for up until this point is now for naught, as she is
expelled from the army and her family name is disgraced. Another instance where
violence plays an important role is when Li Shang s
Perseverance In Mother To Son, By Langston Hughes
Perseverance. Such a word embraces those who ve fallen victim to Sorrow s hold,
grips them so as to speak of the haven s they will find one day that will keep them
going. The message of perseverance is imagined and depicted in various forms of
art, two poems in particular being prime examples of literature works founded upon
optimistic and persistent determination. The two poems being: The Gift to Sing , by
James Weldon Johnson and Mother to Son , by Langston Hughes, both of which
share a range of similarities between their tones, evidenced by the various lines in
both poems. However, hidden behind the what is the most notable of aspects in both
pieces of poetry, lie the hidden and more complex differences the poets had
expressed not so obviously.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The figurative language, for example, is used in distinct ways by each poet. In The
Gift to Sing , the poet uses personification and metaphors when illustrating the
image that reality casts upon us in our darkest of times: And blackening clouds
about me cling/Shadowed by Sorrow s somber wing (Johnson 2,7). The turn in
weather and the use of shadows is meant to depict the impediments one faces in life.
Similarly, the poem Mother to Son uses metaphors when re counting the trials
experienced in their life time, but instead the poet chose to construct an original,
and much more elaborate comparison of life to a crystal staircase: Life for me ain t
been no crystal stair (Hughes 2). However, the differences are seldom over, for if one
possesses background knowledge on Langston Hughes, the poet behind Mother to
Son, one begins to now truly unravel the deeper meaning behind the contexts of the
poem. Langston Hughes was an African American male who lived through the Civil
Rights Movement. Knowing this, one can make an inference as to what he really
meant in the lines where he spoke of the deteriorated staircase. The
tacks...splinters...and boards torn up, are likely references to not only the everyday
hurdles one faces, but also hints towards the discrimination and injustice minorities
experienced in his time due to racism. Therefore, the tone of reassurance
Dulce Et Decorum Est And Charge Of The Light Brigade...
Two passages that symbolize and mean two different things can contradict each
other such as the two passages Charge of the Light Brigade , which is about
glorifying and noble deaths in a war, and also Dulce Et Decorum Est , one that is
not so noble and proud of deaths in a war. The two passages symbolize and mean
two different things. Let s take, for instance, Charge of the Light Brigade, the author
uses words in the passage that conveys meaning to being ready. In stanza one he
says, Forward, the Light Brigade! Chargefor the guns! He said: Into the valley of
Death . This signifies that they were marching into the valley of death which was the
battle field and they were ready because Lord Cardigan gave them the order to charge
their guns.

  • 2. Power In Macbeth There are variety of themes in this play, but is more focused on power; the definitive act and the intention to gain it. In Shakespeare s time, the Divine Right of Kings was the idea that the power of kings came directly from God. Initially in Macbeth, the power is natural, then it became strategically towards the play. Macbethwent against the very law of nature and God by killing Duncan, his king; however he was killed in return. The play portrays a sense of conformity in regards to killing Macbeth as he is a tyrant but who gets to decide what tyranny is? In this regard, Macbeth indirectly established a rule where regicide is unnatural and evil but tyrannicide is not. King Duncanwas a good man and virtuous king but he was too meek to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I noticed that not a single woman in the play was left alive. In the play, women were portrayed as dangerous, black forces who can emasculate and ruin men. Which I affirm to, even up to this day, events like this are apparent, especially when it comes to inheritance or in any monetary value. Well, sometimes diamonds are really a girl s best friend; the more diamonds you have, the more masculine you are. But for Lady Macbeth, and her husband, masculinity is synonymous with cruelty and violence. Was there a good reason (aside for masculinity ) for all the violence, or did people in this century like to watch blood spilling event as much as we, of today, do? The only reason I see of Macbeth s inexcusable violence was because it did not played by the rules established in the book of rules. In Macbeth, organized crime is a sport, and individual crime is uncivilized. Throughout Macbeth s successful crime, the time literally came to a halt starting from when he killed Duncan and ended when he was killed in return. All events that took place between Duncan s murder and Macbeth s final battle seemed to happen out of time, like a sort of alternate reality, a dream perhaps. Normal time was only restored upon Macbeth s death. Macduff s final remark time is free as Macbeth was defeated and Malcom was to take his rightful throne as hereditary monarch hinted us into the relationship between the seeming disruption in linear time and of lineal succession which states that without its rightful ruler, a country has no future. Although Macbeth did everything to secure his future on earth by his power, time was out of his
  • 3. Mist of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley Mist of Avalon breaks through many stereotypes but also strengthens some in some ways. One stereotype that was torn down was that women are not as strong as men. This is proved to be wrong when they have Morgaine fighting men and actually being victorious. This movie also breaks the stereotype that women can t be in power. Most women in this movie hold very high positions. For example, Viviane is the high goddess of Avalon. Also Morgaine is her second in command. Although this movie breaks some stereotypes it also reinforces them by putting the blame on a women for not being able to give the king an heir. Although in this case it really is her fault nobody knows this information and automatically blames her. These are just a few of the reasons that Mist of Avalon strengthens and breaks through common stereotypes. In Mist of Avalon Gwenhwyfar is a sympathetic character because she has so much going against her. Although she does have her own wrong doings they are acted on out of hurt. For example, she is cursed with not being able to give the king an heir and this causes turmoil in their marriage. Also in the end she gets even more bad things thrown her way and then repents for her sins and ends things with Lancelot. The film doesn t treat physical beauty in a positive or negative way. It is very neutral about outer beauty compared to inner. This can be proved because Morgos was pretty but she was an evil person and both Viviane and Morgaine weren t the most

Kumar Sambhav Kumarsambhav :the birth of war god KumДЃrasambhava is a Sanskrit epic poem by KДЃlidДЃsa; the first eight cantos (sargas) are accepted as his authorship [1], the last nine may be later additions. The period of composition is uncertain, Kalidasa is thought of as having lived in the 5th c. AD. Kumarsambhava is widely regarded as one of Kalidasa s finest works, a paradigmatic example of KДЃvya poetry. The style of description of spring set the standard for nature metaphors pervading many centuries of Indian literary tradition[ KumДЃrasambhava literally means Birth of Kumara , i.e. Kartikeya. Mild, pleasant breeze began to blow from the south. Flowers were sprinkling down from Ashoka trees. Birds and the bees began to savor the fresh flower of the young mango leaves. But all this would not deter Lord Shiva from his penance. Kama went there. Shiva was doing his penance sitting on a tiger skin under a Devadaru tree. Kama was overwhelmed on seeing the exquisite grace of Lord and the cupid s bow and arrow fell down without his being aware of it. At this time, Parvati arrived on the scence to attend to her daily chores of service to the Lord. She wore a saree colored like the bright red rays of the Sun. Nice spring flowers adorned her plait. A diamond chain shone on her forehead. Her gait was like that of a delicate flower creeper. This great beauty of Parvati inspired Kama, who hitherto was somewhat, dejected, again to strive to fulfil his task. Parvati raised her hands to offer her garland of lotus flowers to Shiva who also eagerly came out of his penance to accept the offering. Kama was burnt to ashes and Shiva then disappeared. Rati, seeing her husband destroyed collapsed unconscious. Parvati s father sorrowfully took her to his home.

The winsome, leather bound book stood out from the battered paperbacks that were typically donated to the used bookstore her mother owned. It had been two years since Cordelia and her mother had opened the bookstore and day by day fewer and fewer people showed up.Cordelia lifted her eyes from the empty pages that filled the strange book as she heard her mother call for her. Delia, we re closing, she repeated in a slightly aggravated voice. Coming, Cordelia replied before hurriedly tucking the book inside her cardigan and joining her mother in the front of the store. When she reached the rocks at the edge of the water she felt the strange feeling return. She was unsure if she had made the right decision by walking out to the rocks so late in the afternoon. As she grew nearer to the rocks and the sun began to set, her nerves returned and she grew uneasy. She skimmed the rocks for any sort of crevice or cave, but couldn t see anything. Cordelia was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she failed to notice the large pile of rocks behind her. They fell with a sickening crash that caused her to drop the book in surprise. She was even more started to hear a voice call to her from across the beach. Are you okay? Cordelia glanced over her shoulder to see a small silhouette walk cautiously toward her and the glare of a flashlight. As the figure drew closer Cordelia could see it was a small girl, at least two years younger than her. We heard the crash from the house and wanted to see if everything was alright, she said while motioning towards a small, light blue house in the distance. Yes, I m fine, She replied. Okay, just
  • 6. Summary Of The Film Imperfekt Strangers The film Imperfekt Strangers revolves around a pseudo Christian cult the Faith Community that is based in Bloomington, Indiana. In the film, there are two Indiana University students who are roommates with two members of the cult. This movie reflects from actual events that happened in the 1970s in Bloomington, Indiana. The pseudo Christian cult the Local Church that was held in Bloomington was led by Witness Lee who tried to gain members through college students and others around in the city ( Are ). Throughout the film, the two roommates who are part of the cult tries to convince the other two roommates, Steve and Tyler to join the cult. However, tension builds up with the cult members and the students when they would not convert and Steve s best friend Richie ends up joining the Christian cult. Furthermore, Steve and Tyler end up worried and concerned around the other roommates because their practices of following Christianityare eerie; they become uncomfortable with the other followers who would also come to the house to preach. Likewise, Steve and Tyler then confront their roommate Matty that they do not want to partake in the cult. At the end, the two roommates Harold and Matty leaves Tyler and Steve. Due to the film being based on true events, Matt Walls character Tyler is deemed to be the most believable character in the film and convincing that all these events are naturally occurring on a day to day basis. At first, Tyler is accepting of his roommates Harold
  • 7. , Allusion, And Symbolism In The Tyger By William Blake In the poem The Tyger by William Blake, the use of rhyme, repetition, allusion, and symbolism all help the reader understand the theme and what was going through the authors thoughts while writing. William Blake was a mystic poet who channeled his thoughts and questions to write poems. He questioned the creator of both the Tyger and lamb, how could the same Godcreate a destructive creature like the Tyger and on the other hand create a gentle animal, the lamb. This ties into the theme of the poem of how a God could and would create a monster like the Tyger. The first line in the poem says, Tyger Tyger, burning bright. By Blake repeating the word Tyger twice, it feels to the reader as if we are speaking directly to the tiger. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this poem, each stanza is made up of two couplets. These couplets because of their steady going rhyme, reminds the reader of the Tyger s heartbeat, beating as we say the words as Blake intended them to be read. Blake states what words he thinks are the most important to the poem by using repetition. Repetition plays a key role, for example the word dread is repeated many times throughout the poem, particularly in lines 12 and 15. Every time Blake repeats this word it adds emphasis to the word or phrase its used in, contributing to the image of the Tyger in each readers mind. Allusion is also an important part of this poem because of the way the author uses it to connect to the outside works that may also encourage the reader to think in a certain way that goes along with the themes of the poem. The first allusion, found in lines 7 and 8, are to the Greek gods Icarus and Prometheus. This allusion requires the readers to think about gods and religion, which is a major part of the theme of this poem. Another allusion I see is in line 20, which refers to another one of Blake s poems, The Lamb. This allusion is significant because the speaker asks, Did he who made the Lamb make thee? (20) And he wonders whether or not the same creator who made something so gentle and pure could also make such an evil animal. The allusion itself brings the reader to think about the other poems and to contrast the two completely
  • 8. Irony In The Stranger By Meursault Within the Judge s statement, irony can be found within the words the Judge decides to say. The Judge was somewhat appalled by the fact that Meursault rejected any form of religion, and through his words it seems as if the Judge was reproaching1 Meursault for his perspective. By including the word unthinkable , the Judge is implying that all humanbeings, at one juncture in their life or another, believe in God; if they do not, than life loses its meaning, which would be devastating. However, this is declaration replete2 with irony, since he is directing it to a man who believes that life lacks meaning or purpose. For example, Meursault does not even care about significant moments in his life, like when his boss asked him if he would like... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It engenders21 a sense of hope within viewers, since unscrupulous22 people become aware that what they have done is not acceptable. However, the courtroom scene in The Stranger further emphasizes that truth is simply an illusion, for truth is relative and what might be truth to one person can be false to another. For example, in society, it is truth that a morally good person is one that is benevolent23 and genial24. Meursault was anything but benevolent and genial, and it is possible to consider him as a good person, depending on one s perspective. The prosecutor was trying to make Meursault seem like a criminal, since he did not adhere to society s standards or fit society s description of a good person. When the warden of the Home in which Meursault s mother resided in was up for questioning during Meursault s trial, he had been surprised by Meursault s calmness and further explained that Meursault hadn t wanted to see Mother s body, or shed a single tear (Camus 55). This reaction to his own mother s death is quite unusual and is drastically different from the reaction society expects. Through this, the Prosecutor was trying to show that there must be something wrong with Meursault, so it must be true that he premeditated the shooting of the Arab. In Meursault s perspective and mine, his indifference did not provide evidence or truth of his crime, but again, truth can be

History and Laws behind the Federal Food and Drug Act of 1906 As one of the primary federal consumer protection laws in existence today, The Federal Food and Drug Act of 1906 was a law that had two primary goals for food and drugs: (a) forbid harmful ingredients and additions and (b) demand labeling of ingredients to inform consumers. According to Janssen (1981), it was hoped that the enactment of this law would eliminate adulterations and poisons sometimes found in foods, sometimes in drugs and often in both. Through his own research with human volunteers to determine the effects of food preservatives on digestion and health, dubbed the Poison Squad, Wiley enlisted the support of the American Medical Association, the General Federation of Women s Clubs and other consumer groups (Janssen). But the tide was turned, according to historians and Dr. Wiley himself, when the voteless, but militant club of women throughout the country who rallied to the pure food cause Janssen, 1981, В¶ 12). Undoubtedly, these women supported Dr. Wiley because he had become a popular speaker at their supper clubs where crusading writers of national magazines also joined his campaign by publishing his findings as editorials. • 10. Prokaryotes And Archaea Similarities INTRODUCTION Definitions for Archaea vary, but what is commonly agreed upon is that these are some sort of micro organisms. Some argue them to be their own distinct domain, whereas others think they are merely part of the prokaryotic domain. However many see them as a evolutionary step in between, as prokaryotic relatives to eukaryotes. (x) Since their evolutionary history remains very unclear, it is hard to classify them belonging to a group of their own or belonging to either prokaryotes or eukaryotes. In 1977, Woese suggested dividing cells into three new domains; archaea, eukaryotes and prokaryotes. (x) Before this cells were divided into two main groups: prokaryotic cells, and eukaryotic cells. Prokaryotic cells have no nucleus or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their structural similarities are the reasoning behind why one might say that they belong to the prokaryotic domain, being structurally very similar, especially on the first glance. The unique properties will be discussed further later in this essay. SIMILARITIES BETWEEN EUKARYOTES AND ARCHAEA Though structurally, prokaryotic cells seem more similar to archaea than eukaryotic cells, yet when one inspects their DNA, similarities between DNA replication, transcription and translation appear. The DNA polymerase in archaea and eukaryotes are not related to any prokaryotic DNA polymerase, suggesting that these two are of common origin. Other components used in DNA replication are similarly only shared between eukaryotes and archaea (y). For example, the promoter (the part of the DNA that initiates transcription), in archaebacteria has similar sequence and position to its eukaryotic counterpart (x). When so little is known about the evolutionary history of these organisms that constitute for the basis of life on earth, categorising them becomes immensely hard. UNIQUE
  • 11. Taking a Look at Toxoplasma Gondii Toxoplasma gondii is one of the most interesting parasites known to date. It has a facultative heteroxenous life cycle and it can infect all warm blooded animal including mammals, birds and humans. T. gondii is prevalent in most countries of the world and is of medical importance, because it may cause abortion or congenital disease in its intermediate hosts (Tenter et al. 2000). In its intermediate host, T. gondii undergoes two phases of asexual development. During the first phase tachyzoites multiply in different types of host cells. The last generations of tachyzoites initiate the second phase of development, which results in the formation of cysts in the intermediate host. Within the cyst, bradyzoites multiply rapidly and these cysts readily form in the neural and muscular tissues of the host. However, they may also be found in visceral organs such as the lungs and liver( Tenter et al. 2000). These cysts are immediately infectious to the intermediate host. In many intermediate hosts the cysts may persist for the life of the host giving rise to a latent infection. If the cysts are ingested by a definitive host, the bradyzoites initiate another asexual phase, which consists of repeated endopolygeny in epithelial cells of the small intestine (Tenter et al. 2000). Then comes the sexual phase of the lifecycle. Oocyst formation takes place in the epithelium of the small intestine and unsporulated oocysts are released into the intestine and passed out with defecation. Sporogony

First of all, they talked about the personal relationships that are inferior in the city. People in the city keep distance between themselves because they want to be free (902). This was considered a big reason for the witnesses to not call the police or help her as they didn t know Genovese or wasn t close to her. Moreover, Milgram and Hollander presented society rules as an another explanation for the witnesses to not help Genovese. The witnesses were following the society rules by not taking the law into their own hands (904). They
  • 15. Existentialism By Frank Kafk Isolation And Desperation Existentialism can be defined in a multitude of forms. Frank Kafka was a prominent, influential German language writer of novels and short stories; one of which includes The Metamorphosis. His distinguishing philosophy of existentialism consists of two main concepts: isolation and desperation. The notion of alienation is a fundamental theme that is condensed throughout the short story. Gregor Samsa, main character and protagonist of The Metamorphosis, goes through a complete physical transfiguration that establishes the principle framework of the novel. In addition to Gregor s metamorphosis, Kafka s existentialism is enforced to Gregor s death, family figures, job conditions, and the weather conditions. Kafka s ideology suggests that one knows that death is inevitable; one must cease to exist. Gregor s physical transformation into an insect alienated him from himself, his own species, and his own families. When Gregor Samsa woke up one morning from unsettling dreams, he found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin (Kafka, Pg 4). Not once did Gregor question or panic about his physical change. Despite his indifference state of mind about his appearance, he emerges to be more distressed in terms of not attending work on time rather than his impulsive alteration. Gregor has failed to develop a sense of individuality and lack of humanity. By the appellation vermin, linguistic usage designates the lowest form of human self contempt. Seeing himself as vermin,

  • 18. Child Abuse And Spousal Abuse A term that is quite often used in today s society is family violence, more specifically child abuse and spousal abuse. A term that is not heard often is elder abuse, which is unfortunate due to the fact that it is a fairly common occurrence. It was estimated that in 2009, one in ten elderly Americans were victims of elder abuse within the previous year (Acierno, 2010). Even though elder abuse is prevalent here in America, it is seldom that this phenomenon is actually discussed. According to the National Center on Elder Abuse, there are seven types of elder abuse: physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, financial exploitation, neglect, self neglect, and abandonment (Fischer, 2012, p. 102). The American Medical Association defines elder abuse and/or neglect as an act of commission or omission that results in harm or threatened harm to the health or welfare of an older adult whether intentional or unintentional (Read, 2016, p. 32). In the 1950 s, public welfare officials were faced with an increasing number of older persons who were unable to manage on their own and began to develop a new approach to providing services, which they called protective service units (Bonnie Wallace, 2003, p. 238). Due to their interest, Congress passed legislation, as part of the Social Security Act, providing funds to the states (Bonnie Wallace, 2003, p. 239) in order to set up these protective service units. In 1974, Congress amended the Social Security Act,

Comparing The Langmuir And Bet Isotherms Figure 3 Comparison of the Langmuir and BET isotherms Fig. 3 compares Langmuir and BET isotherm shapes: gas adsorption along the BET isotherm contributes more significantly at early time of production than that of Langmuir isotherm curve. The reason for this is the slope of the BET isotherm curve at higher pressure is larger than that of the Langmuir isotherm curve, resulting in more adsorbed gas releasing at early production times. The amount of released adsorbed gas with BET isotherm curve is larger than that with Langmuir isotherm curve under the same pressure drop from the initial reservoir pressure to the bottom hole pressure. Jessica explains, On high occupancy days when you have same day cancellations and you overbooked your hotel, a manger can decide to charge the penalty and also accommodate the next guest in line . In essence, when a hotel is overbooked not only can revenue be maximized but the hotel can also gain large profits. For example, a hotel is overbooked and a guest cancel the same day he is due to check in. Management then charges the guest the penalty fee for the cancelation and that leaves a confirmed room unoccupied. The room is then occupied shortly due to overbooking and the profits are as follows: profit from cancelation penalty plus the profit from the overnight accommodations. However, just like everything else in the business world, overbooking has its advantaged and disadvantages. When a manger fails to forecast occupancy properly and all confirmed reservation do in fact check in can lead to a walked guest. Walking a guest is explained as the practice of turning people away who have booked and confirmed their reservations. When a hotel walks a guest, Toh explains that They [the hotel that is overbooked] must meet the following expectations: accommodating the guest in a similar room at a hotel of the same caliber and covering the costs of transportation . This practice incurs costs such as overnight accommodations at another hotel for the guest and transportation costs. Hotels typically have negotiated rates with
