To stimulate the use of renewable energy,
governments began to implement
a policy called Feed-in-Tariff (FiT).
$A feed-in-tariff (FiT) is an energy supply pol-
icy that promotes the rapid deployment of
renewable energy resources. A FiT offers a
guarantee of payments to renewable energy
developers for the electricity they produce.

FiT began to decrease.This made it more eco-
nomical to actually“use”the solar-generated
electricity than selling it back to the grid.

- 7. This concept of“self-consumption”is
what brought our product to life. Our first
step was to find a way to maximize the use of
solar energy.This required us to investigate
the energy consumption patterns of customers.
Energy consumption in everyday homes
had a unified pattern, concentrated con-
sumption during the morning and night.
However, solar energy generation reaches
its peak during mid-day. This incongru-
ity raised the need to store surplus energy
generated during the day to consume dur-
ing the night or morning.
