Pantaloon, an Indian retail company with 140 stores, implemented SAP ERP to enable reliable enterprise-wide management of its growing business operations. It outsourced the implementation to Novasoft over three phases: analyzing current processes, configuring SAP templates, and migrating data. Challenges included data migration and interim period management. Benefits included improved financial tracking, enhanced decision making with real-time data, and support for financial processes as the business expanded rapidly. The project cost $10 million.

2. INTRODUCTION
Pantaloon Is regularly opening stores in the metros and
there was an urgent need for a reliable enterprise wide
application to help run its business effectively.
Headquarter in Mumbai, the company operates 140 stores
in 32 cities with a turnover of Rs.2019 crores.
It launched Big Bazaar, food bazaar, E-zone and other
outlets throughout the nation basically in the Retail Sector.

3. NEED FOR ERP IN PANTALOON
To win the customer’s in the frontline.
Urgent need for a reliable enterprise wide application to help its
Business effectively.
The basic need was to robust transaction management system
And an enterprise wide platform to run the operations.
Looking for a solution that will bring businesses together.

4. After comprehensive study, the management of Pantaloon
Decided to go for SAP application in its enterprise.

 The software’s ability to meet company needs (a “perfect fit”
for an enterprise wide implementation)

 Expert support during migration effort , including support for
document splitting.

5. IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS
1.Outsourced to third party with the help of NOVASOFT .
2.Three Phases
a) Analyzing and drafting the current process.
b)SAP Platform with NOVASOFT’S template.
c)Data migration- Unorganised data’s. New SAP application.

6. CHALLENGES
The difficulties were faced during the data migration and in
managing the interim period.
Pantaloon has not been able to see immediate benefits from this
implementation.
Earlier started working on MAP (Merchandise Assortment
Planning), Auto-Replenishment and Purchase Orders.

7. MAINTENANCE - HARDWARE
Used by around 1,200 employees across the organization.
Pantaloon has an in-house team and it has outsourced
ABAP resources.
Process of setting up a SAP Competency Centre.
The system runs on a HP Super dome server on HP
UNIX11i and the database is from Oracle.
The cost of this project was about $10 million.

8. RESULTS
Improved financial tracking and reporting for all retail locations
and business levels.
Enhance decision making by providing more granular, real-time
information.
 Support financial accounting needs of a rapidly expanding retail
business.
